You know, it's kinda funny. I keep getting comments with weird backhanded parts. Like I'll get a review that's "WOW you're such a good writer, I'm hooked! Even if it is tagged as a romance and has a bad ship, this story is worth all that :)"
I'm glad my craft is appreciated to the point that it's appeal is across genres and ship preferences, but I'm left feeling odd and unsure of how to respond.
It would be one thing if they said "not usually my preferred genre/pairing, but I love the way you're writing it." Those reviews are awesome and I adore them. These ones are different, just making straight fact statements that my genre and ship are bad for some reason.
I like writing romances because of the personal emotional depth that the romance genre explores that others don't. Because in a romance, the adventure and magic comes down to "This person means the world to me, and I will make sure we can spend our lives together because that's what happiness is." Its in the romance plots that the message is that you can be offered the entire world and everything you thought you wanted, but realizing that all you need actually need is the love and support of your chosen companion. This emphasizes some of the main themes of Fairy Tail, and I genuinely think canon suffers from not developing and exploring the romance subplots better.
I like writing Loke/Lucy romance because flirty dialogue is the bomb, Loke isn't afraid to be silly and Lucy isn't afraid to be too serious, and because I'm in love with the idea of your word binding your soul and your word being something can't be broken without serious consequences for the mere act of breaking it. There are very few pairings that let me explore that, and Nalu isn't one of them no matter how much I love Nalu on a normal day.
Like, my reviewing friend, the dove is dead. The frameworks you're "suffering" through are actually functionally what makes this story as good as it is.
I usually just say "hey, don't knock a genre or ship categorically, glad you can appreciate the way I write this one. Thanks!" but does anyone else have thoughts on this? This is the first time I've had these kinds of reviews, I'm curious how others respond.

Chapter 22 is out! Yay! Moving right along. Somehow wordcount wise this arc is shorter than Galuna Island I think, but so emotionally charged for Loke and Lucy. YAY!

Do you know how satisfying it is to finally be posting updates for a fairy tail fic? I've had the pfp for 10 years, but I was too shy about my old FFN fics to post about them (and now I don't want people to see those old things, lol).
I feel like I'm finally living up to my pic.
Anyway, Loke Heartfilia finally has a chat with his dad.

GUESS WHO UPDATED!!!!
My dear Zelinkers, chapter 29 of Dear Hero is finally up and I love it so much. I had so much fun writing it, and it was such a struggle to block out character motions through the scene, but I'm sooooo happy with it.
If you're one of my new followers, this is my tp zelink fic, post-canon, where Zelda and Link write letters to each other as they adjust to life beyond twilight and rebuild. They're silly and in love, though it takes so long for them to get there because of the silly part, and all the other traditional obstacles of cross class marriages (not that those politics have a hope of defeating TP Zelda, tbh).

Here's an update, just posted chapter 14 of Lucy the Lion!
I can't tell you how much I love Galuna Island as an arc, and the last two chapters had some really fun fight scenes. Hooray for updating!

btw, next chapter of the New Keith Route is out.
According to my completely arbitrary internal rules, since I have now started writing the third arc from the current one, I can finish posting the current one. Depending on how much writing I can get done today and tomorrow, I might be back to posting daily until the story is completed. I can’t wait to see your reviews and reactions!

RIGHT I have been making myself post one chapter of Forgotten Light for every episode of Community I watch. i only started this in the middle of season five, so limited use, but we finally reached content I haven’t posted on tumblr for the story. See it on Ao3
NEW CHAPTERS FOR FORGOTTEN LIGHT HERE
Err, two of the chapters are Knox and Tess chapters, i decided they were needed for the latest chapter to be as impactful as it should be. see ya as I update.

It does suck, escpecially with lolu content :/ I’m sorry to hear you have to deal with that. I totally agree that romance is not developed enough. Actually, often it feels like in Fairy Tail proper, the romance is more used as a joke or a gag, so I really appreciate it when fans actually understand what the romance could (or should) look like. But it’s so weird how, because Fairy Tail has *decided* which pairing is canon fairly early on, a lot of people get really really attached to everything canon, only canon. Like, Hiro Mashima can’t even *consider* the possibility of a love triangle (not that I’m especially fond of those, but it at least gives fans more options/is more interesting even if it’s tense [although even love triangles can be wholesome and light-hearted]). Or fans are just not interested in romance because of how Fairy Tail handles it. Sooo, just don’t look for romance I guess? Anyway, I am currently reading Lucy the Lion and Loke the Wizard btw and I think it’s absolutely adorable.
Sorry for the jumbled response of a repost, kinda was just writing as I thought XD
Keep writing what you love 💖💖
