What is (was) your experience in the South? . . . I grew up in the South, so my experience has been that racism still abounds. It may not be in the form of lynchings and beatings (at least not in the part that I grew up in), but microaggressions are common and they are still harmful. . . . This quote from The Blood Quest is important because it is a creative way to show Elizabeth's race without me (the author) flat out saying it.
