Back from service, chilling and scrolling through my December dumps to find This pics...😍 As a Thespian, this meant so much to me as I got to see my first Christmas Pantomime at the Paladium Theatre recently… titled "Jack and the Beanstalk”😂. It was so beautiful, the asthethics, scenery, costume grandeur, light and sound effects, and the bonus of having @alexanderburke with other amazing stars on stage was the icing of the cake. Hey everyone. Happy Wednesday. I guess I am still not in a place where I can commit to daily posting, but, in the spirit of Christmas, I wanted to share with you something that I read recently. “The Lion In Winter” by James Goldman. This was the play that my wife and I saw at Bakersfield Community Theater recently. I decided to buy the script and read it to see what I thought of it as a play as opposed to a production, and there is a difference. This is a play about King Henry II of England and his family. The events that take place during the play are fictional, revolving around a Christmas Court in one of England’s French territories. It is a play for people who like the scheming games people play to gain power. Like Game of Thrones, if I ever saw that series or read those books. We’ve got Henry’s three sons, his wife, his mistress, and his mistress’ brother who happens to be King Philip of France. All of them want something and have to play major politics to get it. Overall, I liked the play. It was funny. It is very much a character play. The story is mainly driven by characters interacting with each other, as a play should be. Some characters are easy to read in terms of what they want. Others seek more complex wishes. I will say that the ending was kind of what we call a third event, meaning that it’s more complex than “the character gets what he wants or fails.” I kind of wish it packed a bigger punch than it does on paper. But it’s not a bad play, by any means. It’s just a pretty okay play with some good jokes that tries to show the dysfunctional family of a great king and reveal the complex motivations of our own dysfunctional families. So, if you like plays, maybe read it. There are probably much better plays to read, but I don’t regret buying it or reading it. Had an amazing night at Guys and Dolls at the Bridge Theatre. It was wonderful catching up with old friends from Wall Street to Walton and meeting so many new friends. Having so many finance, PR, and entrepreneurial buddies from around the world in one place was truly a blessing. I loved every minute.

I can’t recommend the show enough! It has always been a favorite (my father-in-law played Sky Masterson alongside Bob Hoskins and Bernard Cribbins at the National). This version was spectacular—see it before it ends and make sure you stand in the pit! And stay for the dance-off!

It’s another thing to be in a musical and have stress dreams about it,

But watching a musical, yourself not performing in a musical anytime soon, and having stress dreams about your high school performing that musical is a WHOLE NEW LEVEL.
