so i recently found out about my mothers villain origin story of hating all musicals and apparently it's because many years ago she (not a lot of english, mind, like functional/professional english at best) went on a business trip to london and for some reason her company paid for tickets to mama mia at (and i quote) 'one of those famous historical london theatres' and she fuckin hated the entire 3 hour experience like she couldn't understand what they were singing and she was bored out of her mind but the theatre was too bright for her to sleep through it like her exact thought when it ended was 'fucking hell its finally over' and ever since she's been firmly against the concept of musicals. anyway i'm obsessed with this story i think it's the funniest shit ever

The saki glue theory isn’t true?!

I mean it is just a theory… A GAME THEO-

Okay, I’ll stop. But I do wonder why you think that especially since that theory is incredibly popular.

The Saki glue theory, at least from what I've seen, says that if Saki died in middle school it would mean that none of the units in the game would form. The things is, it literally makes no sense if you think about it properly for more than a few seconds.

Of course Leo/need wouldn't exist, because it's not Leo/need without all four of them, and Saki was a key player in mending their friendship. As for Tsukasa, by middle school he was already a theatre kid, so he's not just gonna drop that because his sister died. Yes he would be greatly affected by it but he also wouldn't quit (it's during this point that he actually pushed aside and forgot his original motivations, so he doesn't associate Saki with his dream here). And Tsukasa would still encourage Toya to rebel against his dad, so Toya still meets Akito and they still form Bad Dogs and eventually VBS.

When it comes to MMJ and N25 it becomes really obvious that this theory is grasping at straws. The main explanations I've seen as to how Saki could possibly affect them is that Shiho and Honami become depressed, so Shizuku quits idol work to be there for Shiho, and Honami never becomes Kanade's housekeeper so doesn't call an ambulance for her when she collapsed of dehydration, and Kanade dies.

It just doesn't make sense at all. Yes, Shizuku loves Shiho and would obviously be there to comfort her, but she isn't just going to quit being an idol for that. Shizuku is her own character with her own complicated feelings towards said idol job. She isn't going to drop everything for her sister. And while I think Honami would still become a housekeeper, if she didn't Kanade would just have another housekeeper who probably would've found her the exact same way Honami did. Also at least some people who push for this forget that Shiho and Honami already were not in a great place mentally when Saki was in hospital in middle school. We already have insight into how they coped with losing Saki (not in that sense) and MMJ and N25 still exist despite this. Yes grief is different, but you get the idea.

The Saki glue theory is just a cheap grab at angst rather than anything that actually considers how Saki would impact other characters and their relationships. Yes she does affect some characters but she is not going to drastically rewrite the narrative if she dies nor will everyone close to her become too depressed to function. If we're being really, really, honest, you can kinda tell this theory probably exists partially to give pointless angst to her brother, which is a whole separate issue.

Like, Saki is important to some characters don't get me wrong, but she's only important to the narratives of four, those being the other members of Leo/need, and Tsukasa. She absolutely does not affect every character in the game, even by proxy. Chart:

I'm not saying angst in fandom is a bad thing, and it can be interesting to explore darker and more negative themes/emotions with characters who don't get to experience these a lot in the source material, but within this fandom there is an issue with pulling out nonsensical explanations for dark stories, which like 50% of the time involve killing off the chronically ill character. And a lot of those are to write angst for her brother and ignoring what actually is written in canon about him and his relationship with Saki. Ableism and misogyny with one move. Real nice.

Heya, pals!! :D Since Super Mario has now been demoted to a minor hyperfixation in replacement of Ace Attorney, I'm gonna post some Luigi headcanons that have been GNAWING on my mind for the past 3 years I've had this hyperfixation. Without further ado, LETSA GO!!! :3 (btw heres credits to the dividers i used here.)

Appearance ⭐:

I don't usually give appearance headcanons, but as you have seen in a few posts of mine, I gave him freckles! Not sure why tho, I just feel like it would suit Luigi.

I got inspired by a crap ton of long-haired Luigi (and by proxy, Mr. L) headcanons and fanart so that's one more to add to my list of headcanons.

As for markings, I headcanon him to have a lot of scars. Specifically on his arms, ranging from his fingertips to his elbows from using his thunderhand ability, being REALLY clumsy, and other stuff I won't mention. There are a few more scars on his legs and torso from either work-related accidents, or accidentally getting scratched up in adventures with Mario. (also top surgery scars but i'll explain that later shush)

Hobbies 🖌️:

A portion of Luigi's hobbies came from him trying to be just like brother, Mario, but Luigi is his own person too, so he has many hobbies to call his own. Just like many other fellas in the Mario community, the Luigi in my AU LOVES engineering (specifically mechanical engineering). Besides that, I think he would love baking with Princess Peach!

I feel like he's the better cook between him and his brother, so in their spare time, he teaches Mario how to cook! Yeah, sometimes the food comes out a tiinnnnyy bit burnt, but hey! At least Mario tried his best! Of course, Luigi knows that, so he gives a tiny pat on Mario's back for not completely burning the food into a crisp.

Mitch Grayson might be my isekai self-insert proxy but that's not hurting anyone

Sorry y'all, it's story time. When I was a kiddo my siblings and I got to see the Batman Forever movie in theatre - you know, the one where Dick was around 21 and had an unnamed older brother? My older sister quickly called dibs on having Robin as her favorite character and, as imperious older siblings do, assigned me to having his brother as my favorite. So, I dutifully admired my tragic hero for several months until I realized that my guy only existed in one movie and had no appearances in comics or merch or anyone's memory.

Lately though, decades later, he's been constantly on my mind. I think the reveal of the nameless Prodigy and Dick's older half-sister Melinda as characters wove some new paths in my memory banks or something, because "Mitch Grayson" is just resonating. (Maybe, just maybe, Dick was always meant to be a younger brother.)

Imagine the classic Robin origin, but with Mitch as an older brother; how would things change? Who would Mitch be?

In my head, it's Batman, Robin, and Hoodlum, not the Dynamic Duo but the Terrific Trio. I imagine Mitch as being a few shades more angry, a little harder hitting than his baby brother. He'd be 12/13 to Dick's 8/9, and I imagine he'd be as obnoxiously protective and smothering as a traumatized older sibling, fiercely and almost rabid to protect the only blood family he has left. He's meaner and it'd take more effort on Batman's part to convince him not to merc Zucco. Mitch admits to having a different idea of justice than Batman, but is willing to keep to his foster father's rules.

Mitch is, perhaps, enough of a little shit to drive Batman into reading self-help and parenting books, if not outright therapy.

I think Dick would still bounce to form the Titans eventually, but this time without being fired and kicked out of his home. Definitely would be after a fight, though. Something about having two overprotective, high-handed assholes always trying to keep him grounded. Mitch is perhaps unhealthily codependent.

Despite his little brother leaving the city, Mitch stays firmly in Gotham. It's partly because he knows that he'd otherwise just follow Dick around and his brother's right that that isn't healthy. Mitch has to grow and face his own struggles with letting his loved ones live independently. He's very much like Bruce in this way.

In his civilian life, Mitch is a lawyer who focuses on introducing superhero protection measures, especially for younger heroes. A lot of laws he bases off of the ones for child performers regarding caretakers, pay, schooling, etc. If an adult cape is going to mentor a young cape, that adult better be ready to prove they can provide for that kid, including their mental health and also a way to leave the cape lifestyle should the kid want the out.

Also, provisions for cape-on-cape crimes. Specialized court procedures for people with secret identities, so they can testify or defend themselves legally.

Maybe in this universe he happens to be shadowing Harvey Dent on a certain day. Maybe he stops the events that lead to Two-Face.

Mitch is shorter than Dick, more physically like the traditional acrobat. Where Dick has their father's build and their mother's features, Mitch has a more willowy athleticism and their father's jawline. His Hoodlum uniform has a full mask once he hits puberty and grows a mustache like John Grayson's.

He is unapologetically gay. His social media accounts have steady uploads of the aerial routines he still does, along with silks and hoops and gymnastics. All those Waynes are thrill-seekers, after all. Sometimes he can be convinced to perform at Haly's or in a music video.

There's an incident over a year after he and Jason nearly die in a warehouse in Ethiopia. The Joker very publicly is holding a Wayne gala hostage and is live streaming the event. So it's very publicly seen that Mitch Grayson very purposefully swings a heavy antique chair at the Joker's head.

The trial is held outside of Gotham due to Mitch being unlikely to have a fair one as a well known Gotham celebrity and lawyer. It's an open-and-shut case of self-defense, though the prosecutor leans hard into Mitch's testimony that he'd known the chair would kill the Joker if he managed to land the hit. Mitch cites the trauma of being in the Joker's power again as being the reason why he chose to use lethal means - it's very Ender's Game; "Knocking him down won the first fight. I wanted to win all the next ones, too, right then, so they'd leave me alone."

He does some time in prison. The notoriety keeps him from falling into Amanda Waller's hands. #freemitch trends on Chirper in Gotham the whole time. Mitch and Bruce have several deep conversations about justice, and killing, and love.

Hoodlum loves the Robins; Hoodlum loves Batman; Hoodlum loves Gotham; Hoodlum loves his family.

Hoodlum eventually becomes Jason's title when he's grown up from Robin and ready to carefully and obnoxiously b(r)other the new kid. Tim soars in the Flying Grayson's colors and can always depend on his Hoodlum.

Mitch's new helmet looks like a snarling gargoyle. His colors are muted, but there's still a flash of red-yellow-green somewhere on him.

Grotesque takes to the skies and Mitch flies with his family.

my top 5 Watcher Entertainment shows

in honor of Watcher's fifth anniversary and the premise of Puppet History S7, I will be particpating in @watcherwiki's Top 5 Watcher shows for the anniversary of Watcher Entertainment.

let's begin <3

starting with number 5, we have Mystery files !

this was actually the first show that got me into Watcher Entertainment, back in July 2023, I got back from a bookstore and saw a video about the Max Headroom incident from their channel watcher and it got me hooked ever since. It still holds a special place in my heart considering again it's the first show I saw from Watcher Entertainment, and I love a lot of mysteries. There is certainly a lot of charm within Mystery Files that I enjoy, and it is aesthetically pleasing.

I think my favorite eps have to be Max Headroom (obviously), Chupacabra, Sky Trumpets, The Tungska Event, The Battle of Los Angeles, The Oakville Blobs, and Voynich Manuscript <3.

and at number four is Are You Scared?

the show feels very reminiscence of when I was a kid, I would listen to narrators read out creepypastas/spooky stories. The way Watcher does it feels very intense while also lighthearted (sometimes) mixing horror and comedy.

it also has amazing lighting which I completely adore, it's almost hauntingly pretty for a show about two guys bantering with each other in the void reading about the scariest thing you can imagine.

my favorite episodes have been Smile Dog, the other dog episode, Milk White, Happiest Place on Earth, the Holiday special, Outside the Bedroom Episode, and the Ocean episode.

and at number 3 is Dish Granted, my beloved <3

what can I say about Dish Granted, it's very comforting, it's sweet by the premise of cooking something special for your friends, and it's the first Steven Lim show I've watched !! and also that being said, it's the very show that inspired my love for cooking back when I was in cooking club for my high school year.

I just wish it would make a comeback somehow, or maybe there'd be a new food show similar to Dish Granted, it's up to Steven if he wants to or not. either way, 10/10 show :]

favorite episodes include the seafood episode, the oyster smore episode, the mac-and cheese pie, and the taco episode.

and at number two is Weird Wonderful World !!!

the ultimate comfort show and my second favorite show from the long-limbed man himself Shane Madej, this is by far one of the very best of the bunch, bringing in curiosity and comedy, learning about new places around the Californian state (my home state) that makes me want to visit (even though I am on a budget). And it is the one show that makes me forget Shane and Ryan are mainly known for ghost hunting and not just going on silly adventures.

favorite episodes include the pie episode, the sunset ranch episode, the soda pop episode, the theatre episode, the hat episode, and the breakfast club episode.

and finally my number one is ...

Ghost Files Alone, ladies and gentlemen.

I had some trouble with what would be my number one, funnily enough if I could, half of the shows would be on my number one list. But I think I'll have Ghost Files Alone as my top one pick.

now, what I can say about Ghost Files Alone, many things actually. For starters, ever since I got into Watcher and by proxy getting into the original Ghost Files and its past self Buzzfeed Unsolved I have long admired the very host of the show -- Ryan Bergara. He is honestly one of the bravest and genuine ghost hunters whose content I've come across, and back then I wasn't even into ghost hunting content, so the fact Ryan's shows are what got me into the learning about the paranormal is a statement in itself. And as someone who also has an anxiety disorder, I've been impressed with how Ryan had been able to handle his fear over the years of ghost hunting, even if there were times where he was genuinely terrified (and rightfully so), he always managed to pull through.

and when Ghost Files Alone came out, it really did remind me of why I admired Ryan so much, especially at the very ending of the final installment of Ghost Files Alone when he left the house and the monologue of overcoming your own Malvern Manor.

it may be a short series with only three episodes, I still admire the way it was made and once again I hold nothing but respect for the effort Ryan Bergara put into the series, and for his bravery once again. That's why it is on my top one.

I def hc MK in both canon and au being a big mythology nerd in general, not just for SWK.

He'd be the kid running around the library with a bunch of mythology books too mature for him to check out without an adult (Tang said no cus they'd both get in trouble with Pigsy). Has different phases of interest throughout his childhood - the parents probably can gauge how old MK is in some photos based on what mythology he was currently obsessed with.

SWK, pointing to a photo in an album: "Was MK seven or eight in this one?" Tang: "Just turned seven. See the little wooden sword on his belt?" Mac: "Ah. The King Arthur phase. He had a cake shaped like a rock that year." Pigsy: "Easiest to design really. He just wanted a fake sword coming out the top." Sandy: "Also the year he figured out how to turn himself into a squirrel cus of the disney movie." SWK: "He cried so much for that girl squirrel." MK, overhearing and getting emotional: "She didn't understand! She was in love but couldn't understand why Wart couldn't be with her! It was heartbreaking!"

I'm projecting because I was that kid who knew all the greek gods names, and by proxy all the planets and their moons.

MK would make obscure mythology jokes that no one gets except Mac (theatre and mythology nerd intertwine often), and a certain demon.

MK, very tired after eating a bunch of mooncakes: "Feeling like I ate the wrong kinda lotus rn." Everyone else in the room: ??? Red Son, suddenly starts laughing: "Oh because of the lotus-eaters! Sorry, it took me a moment. Very clever noodle-boy." MK: ( ♥ ͜ʖ ♥)

But yeah MK is 100% still a Monkey King nerd, but he also nerds about other mythological heroes. Has all the OSP mythos videos saved into his memory. Frequently blames his magic/divine problems on completely unrelated gods aka "Damn you Zeus!"

dropping by to say hi, I loved the Kermiad, and I've been off Tumblr for a bit, what on earth is going on with the Croaker and his roommates atm? You seemed like the best person to ask.

thank you! I plan on having an in depth explanation with a proper timeline of the roommates in my part 2, but this is the rough explanation (which became a tad longer than expected)

Kermit's been in communication with the coven for about a month or two total, but moved in finally after the fight at dennys was supposed to take place. He never arrived at dennys because his mother brought him to an evangelical church, and got him in church therapy. he left a little over two week ago during the night in secret.

selection of the covens rules:

no non-MCR music, it impedes the spirit of gerard way in athena

no italian food allowed (if you are caught youre punished)

sage will drive you one way, but youre on your own on the way back

Our cast:

athena (mydarlingathena)- thanfiction-esque. Is possessed by gerard way, is a vampire and drinks milton and sages blood. Athena the vessel is responsible for kermits invite, not gerard. Eats flies [children of the rot] harvested from the carcass in the closet. Sleeps in a bed

sage (minuseyes) - big into cannibalism and raw meat. Older sibling to Milton. Makes art and likes french poetry. Was athena's first convert and manages the budget. She spends all the money on meat and incense. Has a job, owns the car. Sleeps on the counch

[ham]milton (lifedoesntdiscriminate) - a struggling theatre kid trying to repent and become emo. The second convert that had to be broken by Athena, and tastes better than sage. Some guy really wants him in an apple costume. Originally seemed the most normal, then turned out he was lying about being an orphan. Runs the etsy. Sleeps in the closet.

Croaker has struggled since moving into the apartment, because there is a deficit in blankets and he has had to sleep under athenas bed in a cold room (or gerard way) without a blanket. Kermit dissapeared, and the croaker couldnt find him anywhere, even when he broke back into his mothers house.

When the three roommates did their "roommate bonding activity/ritual" tmj took this oppurtunity to masturbate, but jerked off too loud and caught their ire. This is when athena said she had to break him. Tmj since then has had to clean up the whole apartment (-the closet), clean with his toothbrush [he doesnt own one, so he used miltons], and is being sleep deprived by athena.

around this time, he also revealed his dark eve kin, and was assigned mentally sound by his tharapist.

a lot of the roommate deal came to a head when kermit was fed fly cookies as punishment, which he did not take well. This caused him to do vriska mode and piss all over the counters. Sage is punished for the consequences of kermits revenge -- a dead fly (the angel) on the countertop athena coveted disappeared. Sage is moved to the closet and milton takes the couch.

after convincing, tmj enters the closet of the rot, which smelt so bad milton would always be on the verge of vommiting. She observed a 24h moment of silence because of how foul it was. There was another bag in the rot bucket. This according to milton, was "kermits proxy". Kermit the frog was inside the bag. Tmj discovered miltons blog and learned they stole kermit and went "crime mode". He did something to milton. We do not know what happened. At this point in time, kermit is in rough shape, with the damage done by equus tmj to his eyes exacerbated by maggots.

there are images of the rot on milton and kermits blog, and it is an astronomical amount of maggots. The apartment is generally very unclean, and has an extreme mold problem.

Edit: since writing this, Kermit stabbed athena to kill gerard way, athena and sage burned tmj's kermit plushie at a local graveyard, and have been evicted from their apartment. Karmit has returned to his mothers house, bringing milton with him.

Halloween Movie of the Day: The Addams Family Reunion (1991)

As perhaps the oddest people in America, the Addams need no introduction. But this time, they are about to welcome a new member into the family; turns out Morticia just recently gave birth to little Pubert!

Yes, all is good and well with a new baby in the family, unless you ask Fester. Seeing all others tie the knot has got him forlorn, so he's now looking for love. And love he finds in the new nanny, Debbie Jellinsky. But something is amiss, as this woman is pushing Fester away from them just as the two get married. And as Pugsley and Wednesday get sent to summer camp, the family faces their biggest crisis yet in a black widow trying to separate them all. Will Fester return to their side before it's too late?

A compelling argument for how sometimes a sequel is actually better than the original, this comedy goldmine by Barry Sonnenfeld takes what worked in the first 90's reimagining of the Addams and cranks it up to eleven. And yet, more than just a rethread the film is also a mirror of it's own prequel (which I must say also comes with a hearty reccomendation by proxy on this end); one being about how strangers end up joining the family by learning to connect with the Addam's eccentric but enotionally fulfilling way of life, the other being about a different stranger with violent motivations failing to do the same. Which brings us to Debbie: with such a violently petty energy and delusions of grandeur, she's a delight to watch even when she's trying so hard to murder Fester.

Outside of a gag about Michael Jackson aging like milk (for reasons they couldn't have forseen), it's incredible how fantastically this film has aged. The black comedy, the haminess, the slapstick absurdity, the wholesome family dynamics undercut by a screwed up sense of normalcy, and the lighting in a bottle casting that redefined what the public sees these characters as. They REALLY don't do them like they used to.

Ok, I just HAVE to gush a little over the casting, because it really, REALLY made these movies shine.

The obvious one is the late Raul Julia as Gomez. With a classical background and being adept at musical theatre, he really gives his all every moment, which makes some of the funniest scenes come out of either the earnestness on which he plays a romantic situation, or the incongruity of how most people would react to what he's experiencing.

Anjelica Houston as Morticia works marvelously as the complement to Julia's Gomez too, being equally passionate but in a much more composed way, which grants her an elegance and snark that simply cannot be beaten.

Christopher Lloyd as Fester was sheer genius as well. You're telling me there was a better option for someone with uncle Fester's well known level of quirky manic energy than Mr. Emmet Brown and Judge Doom? Get outta here.

Jimmy Workman as Pugsley looks like the weakest of the bunch at a glance, as he almost feels like the straight man by contrast of how vivid the other performances are. But then you really think about it, and it's PRECISELY that nonchalance which makes him work. He can do incredibly troubling unchildlike things without batting an eye.

And of course, Christina Ricci as Wednesday is a no brainer as to why this role shot her to stardom. While a diversion from how Wednesday was portrayed in other versions, it stands out as one of THE big examples of how to do a goth creepy girl. G-ROSSO Super Sentai stage show guide (7/2023)

Theatre G-Rosso is located within the theme park Tokyo Dome City. The theme park had a long history of Hero Shows running back to the 70s. The theatre was established in 2009 as a permanent indoor stage. There are 4 seasons each year with showings on weekends and holidays. Suidobashi station is a little closer than Korakuen/Kasuga subway. I visited it for the first time in July 2023.

TICKETING

G-rosso ticketing depends on which seasons really. Tickets should be plentiful for the first two seasons, especially S2/August when they show every day. S3 and S4 with the face actors might be harder but the show runs for 3 months too so it should be possible.

There are three classes of G-rosso tickets (single adult admission) :

Premium (¥2500): first 3 rows + special gift

General (¥1900): rest of the theatre

Free Seating (¥1500): same-day showings for the last 5 rows at the end of the theatre. cash only, vending machine at the door.

You can of course book online through a proxy (bypassing japanse phone verification) but I think you can save that fee especially if you're staying for more than a week in Japan. For S2, I was able to buy the last Premium ticket for the next day (Saturday), and there were enough general seats available. Can't say for sure the same applies to S3/4 with face actors. As a foreigner, the most convenient way is to buy a ticket is from the convenience store Family Mart. Find any store with the photocopier-looking machine and follow the instructions to choose the show times and pricing, pay with cash at the counter and the staff will print you a paper ticket. same go for photo ops and handshake.

CHOOSING A SEAT

The theatre is two stories high and you can see the seating plan here. I was in the third row mid-right. What surprised me was how close to the stage the first rows are, barely an arm's distance. At one point Kuwagata Ohger leaned on the railing of the first row. The actors would also walk up to interact with the audience.

I think if you want to enjoy the whole stage and not aiming at the special gift, you can skip the Premium ticket and get a few rows further back. Another recommended seat is Row L just between the two blocks. That's where Spider Kumonos descends UPSIDE DOWN from the sky right in front of your eyes.

If for some reason you g-rosso on a whim / sneaked it into the schedule, the free entry ticket is available only at the vending machine on-site with cash. It's designated to the last rows but staff aren't strict on you moving if the theatre is not crowded.

PHOTO OPS & HANDSHAKE

as you'd've seen in commercials, you can pay extra to take a photo (with red only!) (¥1100) and shake hands (with all six) of the heroes (¥600) after the show. The tickets for those are available prior online and in convenience stores too, but if you ask the staff, they'll let you buy one with cash on an old-fashioned vending machine. Since it's my first time attending G-rosso, I did the whole package with birthday perks (no id checked).

A new backstage tour is available since August. Lottery ticketing required.

The most iconic G-rosso exclusive merch is probably the hero hand light. I didn't really see a lot of kids holding it so I kinda forgot about it in the rush. the other true exclusive is a wooden plaque gashapon machine (¥300). There were booths for name badges for kids and you can get a bromide for ¥440. There was a cart selling DX toys and plushies. The special stuff is some toei online store acrylic stands, the muffler towel, cup and plate. Outside you'd find the food stall with collab items like popcorns and drinks with an original coaster.

REVIEW

As a kid's show the japanese won't be too difficult but I was so captivated by the action I wasn't really listening to the words. The plot is easy enough to follow though, and the website says an English pamphlet is available for borrowing (but I forgot to ask). It feels so professional compared to park stage shows but so tangible compared to tv. They make good use of the space with an under-stage pit/trampoline and the high ceiling with platforms and wires. my eyes were busy darting when the action was in one corner and then next. childhood wonder!!

leaving the theatre is a row of gashapon machines and a kids' play area with all the DX toys (:( no adults) and when you go up the escalator, on the side of the theatre entrance is a wall of pass hero show posters!

(i barely have any coherent notes about this) the plot is there's a cicada MOTW and he is brainwashed to make the earth's temperature rise and make evil clones of the team. Rita, raised in the land of snow, is bad at heat and went to sit in a corner and covered their head with the mantle. When facing their/Gira's evil clone, they said 'i'll just cut down both of them'. My notes said 'someday Rita is even gonna plead innocence for the bugs'. six of them roll call together with jeramie!! i was watching papillon-sama's fight style the whole time. and there were trampolines and flips and cartwheels and white spider man falling from the sky while the digital background zooms in and out and legit tears when we started cheering for the heroes. it's an experience okay.

what's going to happen when Rhae finally sits the throne and they all tell Delulumond the truth about Vivi tho? :O I fear Riverlands will burn in every au there's no escaping from that.

By the time the truth comes out Vivi is in his early teens since Viserys somehow managed to hold onto life by a single hair strand for a while longer and truly sees Aemond as a second father rather than an uncle they’re supposed to be keeping on a leash. Vivi has grown so sweetly attached and by proxy ended up stopping the process of Aemond delving even deeper into the hole of toxic masculinity and hatred for Rhaenyra that would’ve sent him spiraling a decade ago. That and the fact that he and Luke end up getting married kept the Riverlands safe from Vhagar when the truth eventually came about.

And the funny thing is, Aemond realized Vivi wasn’t actually his kid years before when Luke gave him the proper sex talk (something he wasn’t supposed to do) cause he couldn’t stand to watch his fiancee being to utterly clueless about such a big part of life. Aemond put two and two together quite quickly and felt a hint of betrayal but not because tricking him into thinking he left his nephew a single father to a bastard for a few years was a heartless thing to do. No, Aemond saw and respected his sister and uncles plan too much to be that mad. His anger really came from the idea of being taken advantage of due to his embarrassing ignorance by the people he’d actually come to know and respect to a certain degree over the years. He still sees vivi as his, still wants to teach him and show his two favorite boys the world while on dragonback.

For a while he went a bit cold with Luke in attempts to see how deep his love went. After all, was their relationship all for show? Even what they shared privately as a family with their “son”. But soon enough he came to see Luke truly loved being a family just as much as he did and frustration soon fizzled into acceptance. Wondering when/if someone would ever actually tell him the truth up front.

Its a funny affair the night Viserys croaks. Luke is so overwhelmed at the idea of losing Aemond’s love and cant hold it in anymore. Poor thing ends up singing like a canary while they’re getting ready for bed the night before Viserys funeral which Aemond takes as his one moment to channel his inner theatre kid and put on a PERFORMANCE just to make his husband feel bad before insisting they kiss and make up.

I don’t appreciate it when people assume that they know me. I make a conscious effort to show certain aspects of myself to certain people, so that they perceive me in a certain way. This does not mean that these people get to assume they know who I am, and understand every aspect of who I am, and more importantly, why I do things. I can count on one hand the number of people who I feel truly know me, and it enrages me when people claim to understand who I am.

No, you don’t understand why I care about my grades — you know me as a smart kid, and assume I care because I want to look good. You don’t understand that I use it as a proxy for parental approval, as a means of confirming my self-worth. You don’t understand my past struggles to separate my value as a human being from my intellect, or my depression years ago when I feared that I wasn’t the “gifted kid” adults had told me I was.

No, you don’t understand why I’m upset — you know me as a quiet kid, and assume I’m just moody. You don’t get that I’m transgender and dysphoria is eating me from the inside out. You don’t know my insecurity about my physical appearance, or the crushing terror that I will never be beautiful enough to be loved back.

No, you don’t understand why I get emotional over disagreements over a drama piece — you look at me, see a control freak, and assume that’s why. Is it just me or is Anole a proxy in NYX?

I've been reading NYX on an off since its release. Anole is one of the reasons I keep coming back, cause he's one of my favorite mutants. However, as I read NYX it really feels like the writers really liked/wanted Spyke from X-men Evolution. Anole in NYX is all about sports and is being used as the window character for the Morlocks. Morlocks are consistently used for mutants who can't blend into society and don't feel safe or like they belong. Which when I read are all things that make me think of Spyke not Anole. Anole is theatre kid from a small town where he was accepted by his community until anti-mutant extremists came in and started causing problems. So he went away to keep his loved ones safe. He's never needed the Morlocks because his family and neighbors are always voicing support. It just feels that the writers for NYX kept the gay bartender which where the highlights of Anole's character from Krakoa side comics and then just started writing for a different character they didn't have the rights to use.
