☞ ☛ ⌚︎ Some bits of this past month, while I wrap my non-vacationed brain (i.e. many ☠︎bugs☢︎ left in layouts, will do my best to solve them) around the 100 page catalogue of the Piatra Neamț theatre festival, happening this September, plus upcoming project with friends from Impex band and their ongoing free-spirited project Shamanelism.

While my neural network reassembles in grid formats, here is the call Mălina and myself put together, at the invitation of the House of European Institutes . If you're an illustrator from Banat or know somebody please share a link of their work in the comments.

Finally, a project that's just recently been launched, charting Romania's peculiarities, oddities, fine spots and curiosities is La Noi. Andrea Dimofte's efforts are cumulated in this conglomerate of articles. Illustrated Dragoș Rusu's documentation of the Communist Romanian musical scene right here, might be back with more. Till then, here are a few glimpses from behind the soundscape scenes.

HEY BITCHES HAPPY DESTIEL DAY HOLY SHIT
also if you’re in edinburgh today and tomorrow and you like theatre but are tired to see the same old west end musicals, you should come visit the Gateway New Writing Festival!!!
in its very first run, Gateway Festival will present several short abstracts from new plays that have been developed alongside actors and directors during rehearsals! All writers and most of actors and directors are all new graduates or still students so these are fresh new ideas - and who knows, they might become modern classics in a few years.

"The Masquers' Club players, Winnipeg, who won the first place in the Dominion drama festival held at Ottawa, with their play, "Born to Be Hanged," were welcomed to Toronto by John David Eaton when they arrived homeward bound. The club, composed of employees of the T. Eaton Co. Ltd., Winnipeg, made its director, Winston McQuillan, lose a $40 bet but won for him the festival triumph. He bet on the Vancouver team to win. Leading players are shown above: (1) Moray Sinclair and Mary Munro, and (2) Winston McQuillan, the director." - from the Kingston Whig-Standard. May 12, 1933. Page 16.

Lemme tell ya somethin' / If you didn't come to party / Don't bother knockin' on my door / I got a lion in my pocket / And baby he's ready to roar, yeah yeah / Everybody's got a bomb / We could all die here today / But before I'll let that happen / I'll dance my life away

Dearest Gentle Reader,
I’m about to step on some toes in regard to the Opening Ceremony at the Paris Olympics.
The headless woman was Marie Antoinette. She ruled over France and was found guilty of treason, conspiracy, and stealing from the country.
Sound familiar?
Also, it was not the Last Supper. It was a depiction of an ancient Greek Bacchanal… because, you know, the Olympics are ancient and Greek. Surprise!
And if you didn’t know, a Bacchanalia is an uncontrollably promiscuous, extravagant, and loud party. The parties often spanned several days which honored the god of wine, Bacchus (the blue guy covered in grape vine). He is also known as Dionysus, the Greek god of fertility, later known as the god of wine and pleasure.
And finally, it was not Death on a pale horse. It was Sequana, Goddess of the Seine, the River in which the boat precession took place. She was meant to be the representation of the Olympic spirit and of Sequana.
Loosen the clutch on your pearls.
Yours truly,
Lady Francis

Hello Richard Club! Remember that post I made talking about an explicitly queer reinterpretation of Richard II, set in disco era NYC, and starring a Black nonbinary actor? Well that production was filmed and has just been released on the Stratford Festival’s streaming service: here is a link. The site offers a 7 day free trial.

Of my rare works in which the composition is organized in a disordered way, especially emphasizing texture and color shimmers.
Despite the celebratory colors you can feel a certain coldness that is familiar to anyone who has been to the art performances.
