Anyways since I lost that amazing art so sorry 💔 Sebek being into theatre because its the only way that she can properly express herself whenever she portrays female characters

It's why she chose to pursue theatre over the summer at Fleur City but not somewhere like Briar Valley or inside NRC, because she knows that she'll be recognized

But being in Fleur City is like a fresh start for her, especially when she rises in fame as "Esmeralda" in the play of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame"

I feel like a lot of folks just age them up and call it a day, but I love when I run into people really detail their own au out. One thing I loved that I ran into once was the idea that each dorm was divided into majors - and that's part of your sorting. Pomefiore being Theater Arts (Epel, farm boy going to college to improve and modernize his town agriculture, is just extra horrified lol) though I figure they could probably pick their own minor.

Anyway, I adore hearing details!

TWST College AU (First Years!!!)

🍓Hiiiiii! Thank you for asking! I figured I'd just answer this informally since it shouldn't take too long! (And, to be honest, I don't feel like writing a bunch of headcannons for the entire cast :/)

I really like the idea of the dorms being sorted by major, but uhm... I see Ace as a Film major and Riddle as a Med School student so... that wouldn't really work for me?

The basic idea IS to age them up because I am a college student and I want to write about college students -- plus, the twst campus is set up A LOT like a college already, so I always felt weird that it was a high school? Even when I was still a high schooler playing the game, it never felt like a high school, so obviously I decided to just... change it because that's what fanfic is for.

I also didn't want to just... make them all 18. Like... consistency is important people! Leona is 24 now, sorry girlies <3

So I've talked about the age differences and explained Ortho and all that in my rules (read them please :3). I also mentioned that they act differently! The first years won't change too much, because they are still NEW college students, but they respond to things with more maturity than they would if they were just 15/16 year olds. Because... of course, they would. (I would hope 18-year-olds would be a little more mature.)

But I didn't talk about the structures that I changed, mostly based on my own schedule. I'm only gonna use the first years as examples so please forgive me for ignoring your faves <3

So, the first thing I changed is there is no homeroom teacher because we don't have homeroom teachers in college! So, students have multiple different classes throughout the day.

Let's take our little film major Ace, shall we? Ace's first class of the day is a 'core' class, which is the class he has with Yuu and Deuce. It's a basic magic history course that's required for everyone to take, and it's mostly filled with other first-years. Jack, Epel, and Sebek are all in the class too! This class happens three times a week, MWF. He has three other classes, two of which are major-related and one of which is another core magic class.

Each student has their own specific schedule, and they sometimes overlap with each other. This includes first, second, and third years. To give you a little example: Epel and Ruggie take a course on magic plants together!

Many of the courses at NRC have magic at their core -- because it's a magic school -- but their students are free to study whatever they please! That's why Ace is a film major because he wants to be. He cannot, however, pick what kind of magic he gets to study.

Because, of course, the kind of magic you study is based on the dorm you are sorted into. Students have to take at least four classes to do with their dorm's magic type to graduate. It's harder for some students and easier for others.

Epel, of course, hates Pomefiore because he HATES potion-making. He is also surrounded by many theatre majors because... well... just because your dorm doesn't decide your major doesn't stop the same types of people from gathering in one place.

Each dorm has a stereotypical major type associated with it. Many students in Octinivelle are business majors, Pomefiore is performing arts, Savanahclaw is the fitness kids, etc.

So, with all that out of the way, I want to go through the core cast of first years. Namely, their majors and the way I've tweaked their personalities.

Ace: As I mentioned, he's a film major! He loves movies, and he's such a geek about them, so he thought 'Why not!' To be specific, he wants to go into film writing, but he's not dedicated himself to it yet. He's still got four years ahead of him, so he doesn't have to worry about it too hard. Ace is a LOT more chill as a college student. He still teases his friends and he's STILL a huge dickhead, but he knows when he fucked up and needs to apologize. He's more willing to just back off when he needs to and accept his faults as his own, unlike highschool Ace in game. He's still got a firey personality and will stand up to authority, so at his core, he's still the same Ace, just a bit more chilled out.

Deuce: Is a first-generation college student, so he feels like he's got a lot riding on his back. He went into business, mostly because he felt like he HAD to if he wanted a good life for himself. However, he dabbles in a lot of stuff. He constantly does a ton of extracurriculars and is curious about all the courses at NRC. This Deuce is more self-assured than he usually is. He's confident in what he feels he wants/needs, even if it ISN'T what he wants/needs. He, however, still is not great at managing his anger. He still has really big outbursts when he's been upset by something, but he tries his best to keep a cool head and ALWAYS apologizes afterward to his friends.

Jack: You guys are just gonna have to trust me on this one. Jack is majoring in kinesiology with a minor in physical education. He wants to be a personal trainer/occupational therapist! In my opinion, Jack stays the MOST consistent among the first years. He's still pretty strong in his sense of justice, and he's reliable and generally pretty nice. The only thing I could really see changing is that he's a bit more approachable and he's more willing to talk to his fellow students.

Epel: POOR EPEL LMAO. He's an agricultural major, specifically in Agribusiness so he can help his family farm grow more, because he loves his granny so much. He also minors in Agricultural magic -- so, learning about how magic can be used to cultivate plants and the like. Imagine his surprise when he's shoved into the "performing arts" dorm. Epel has more come into his own as a college student. He'd be less pissy about his more feminine looks, though he still tries his best to appear more masculine. He's more willing to bite back at Vil than normal as well because he's an adult now and he doesn't wanna be pushed around.

Ortho: Kid genius! He's a robot, so of course he's a kid genius. Ortho is the only member of the cast who is still under 18 (he's 16 years old and in college!) He majors in computer science, specifically robotics -- he likes to understand how he works lol. BUT, he's an anthropology minor! He likes learning about humans too! He's still very much adoring of his brother, but he has a personality outside of that lol. He's sassy and witty, and really sociable! I'd go so far as to say he's popular around campus, especially since he involves himself in a bunch of different activities.

Sebek: Sebek majors in Magical Studies! It's a general major that can be filtered down into multiple different specific majors, but as for now, he's just Magic Studies generally. Sebek is... an oddball... even still in college. His love for Malleus has never gone away, nor has his dedication. He's like the kid you meet who never really grew up past their freshman year -- mostly because they were never really exposed to ideas outside of what they know. College would have him on edge because A LOT of it is just questioning what he knows, and he's not handling it well. I would say he's probably more awkward than anything. Not as in him making others uncomfortable with his weird behaviors, but him making HIMSELF uncomfortable because of it lol. (He still needs to grow a lot!)

and omg ok dañarte... my guy.... i was kinda floating around his speech hobby and what it could mean when i thought of it. i was considering something along the lines of student government - bc i think he would be the type to put on a charming smile and try to grab a seat of POWER lol.

HOWEVER i thiiiink there is a line SOMEWHERE in the game where a student mentions that nrc doesn't have student government? i cant remember where i read it, so i could be making that up djkfldskj <- actually as im typing this i think it mightve been during the masquerade event? bc they DO have student government at rollos school so maybe that's why someone mentioned nrc doesnt 🤔 ANYWAY i do not know if rsa has student gov't. if they do, perhaps he's weasled his way into it. if they dont, perhaps he started off on the debate team? another club that i do not know if rsa OR nrc has lol, BUT i think he would be interested. my boy likes to tell people theyre wrong in a detailed, prepared format lol. he is also just a smug bully about it lol.

HOWEVER when i thought of the speeches thing, i'd already long since had him on the equestrian club in my mind. mostly bc i see him and char growing up doing horseback riding AND bc i think it's funny to make him hang out with three people he'd probs clash with (i think he'd clash with silver the same way leona does in that one vignette story but i cant remember which one jdkljfkdls the one where theyre there trying to get a laundry mix up fixed and silvers so silly about it,,,, and then sebek is sebek so he clashes with everyone JKFJDSKLFDJ, and then in the lore of this au dañarte made cater sad so that makes dañarte public enemy #1 in riddle's eyes LOL)

ANYWAY. perhaps he was in debate club or student gov't at rsa but then nrc didnt have either of those so he went to equestrian club? or perhaps he was always a horse boy club member and simply liked writing speeches for funsies/maybe hes in a public speaking class and really likes writing presentations and speeches for that. either way, he is going to find a way to make those speeches demonstrate how He Knows Things and is Better Than You for it.

BUT ALSO. something i've briefly considered was theater. bc listen, he's based on hans, and his whole thing is like, masquerading as something he's not. a sneaky little bitch if you will. SO perhaps his speech writing can transfer/evolve into writing scripts and dialogue.... an actor AND a writer/producer/director idk LOL.... he STAYS in HORSE BOY CLUB but perhapeth if he got a redemption arc it would involve rehabilitation via theater <- me remembering in realtime that's kind of what they did with ortho LOL not that he was like. the same scenario LOL but i mean vil did look at a child who wanted to blow up the world and was like "hmm lets get this kid into acting"

Bro could you just imagine Sebek and Rollo face to face with each other and Sebek immediately turning around not wanting to get exposed only for Rollo to be like.

He's a HUGE fan, even if he doesn't want to admit it. Constantly makes references to production Sebek has ever been in during the whole fucking tour. "Ah, I do remember that you used this handkerchief during one of your works. It was a retelling of one of Fleur City's famous stories about a woman who saved the Righteous Judge's close friend. Your acting as E-" "IT HAS BEEN 2 YEARS SINCE THEN LET US NOT SPEAK OF THE PAST!!!!"

His student aide and vice president always make it a point to tease Rollo for his admiration for Sebek's acting, telling Sebek that the only time he's ever missed summer classes ("Summer classes?? That's kind of sad." "Ruggie how about we NOT provoke the guy who's letting us stay over.") was when he found out that Sebek came back to the Shaftlands. He was there in the audience on his first day.

Rook is DEFINITELY not letting this go. "Monsieur Crocodile dabbles in the theatrical arts? Why, how come I've never heard of this before!" "You stalk people, how have you NOT."

Asking Sebek when his next performance will be, if he can get a discount or a free ticket (He literally has the money to buy a whole row of seats what is bro on about), just absolutely MINDBLOWN

If ever Rollo and Rook were to fight over who Sebeks biggest fan was, I think it would be passive aggressive lawl.

"I must say, Mr. Zigvolt, your acting is absolutely spectacular."

"Oui! Hearing such praise makes me want to see Monsier Crocodile onstage for myself! I fear that you may have a contender for number one fan!"

So Charlette is probably the most difficult character for me to pin down considering (let’s be honest) most of the twst boys are NOT patient/kind enough to have endured what she did for most of that show. I feel like the only character that comes close to her would be Kalim, especially when you think about the way he dealt with the situation in book 4. The way he deals with Jamil’s betrayal is kinda reminiscent to me with how Charlotte deals with her and Sam’s failing marriage. They (charlotte and Kalim) are both smart enough to know the others (Sam and Jamil’s) actual feelings towards them, but remain positive and still really care about the other two. WOAH did not mean to make this a Kalim analysis lmao.

Lilia as professor hidgens is so funny (yes old man, eat up the dance floor!!!), but also what if… Crowley as hidgens. Idk he just seems like a washed up theater kid who would go off the deep end.

Side note, Vil as Linda is perfect and I know you didn’t add nightmare time characters, but I can’t stop thinking of Rook as Gerald and Epel as River now 💀

I’m so sorry to keep bringing up the negligent bird man, however Crowley as President Goodman would be a little too perfect. The way they both are trying to lead their country/school but aren’t fully equipped to deal with the very serious and dangerous situation they’ve found themselves in and thus are kinda horribly failing at it. Also this would mean all of the cabinet members are the rest of the NRC staff.

I love Grace Chasity Sebek it’s so good, but my mind started playing around with the idea of Riddle as Grace and now I don’t know which one I like more…

While unrelated to characters, you ever notice how perfect the Nighthawk chant in Go Go Nighthawks lines up perfectly with NRC?:

Like they don’t say nighthawks they just make bird noises, so technically this could be a NRC chant without having to change a single thing about it! Also, Royal Sword as Clivesdale because of course.

Also Rook as Tinky and Floyd as any crazy Jeff Blim characters are extremely correct and also terrifying. I will be having nightmares over those.

Sebek has to have been a theater kid right. Can we. Can we all collectively agree on that. He gets so into acting but is absolute shit at it when he’s actually onstage because. Hear me out. He was shy back then. HE WAS SHY BACK THEN AND IN COMES MALLEUS DRACONIA WHO ALWAYS SEEMS SO COOL AND CONFIDENT AND ALWAYS KNOWS WHAT TO DO AND!!!

SEBEK WAS A KID MAN. KIDS ARE VERY IMPRESSIONABLE. Sebek trying to act all cool and mysterious only to come off as weird and annoying. Someone has the guts to say it outright to his face when he says a line from a play he really likes unprompted inside a conversation and his face fucking drops.

Sebek longingly looking at the the venue for the VDC auditions but never going inside because making a fool out of himself won’t just affect his own reputation but Malleus’ as well. He’s afraid of disappointing Malleus. guys.

Even after VDC is all done and over with, this will not stop Rook hunt to try and get proof of Sebek "I AM NOTHING BUT A MAN WITH NOTHING BUT HIS ORDERS TO FILL" Zigvolt.

Rook Hunt sees beauty in everything. From Vil's own view of beauty to Epel's fiery determination.

And he WILL make sure that Sebek Zigvolt's beauty will be recognized, one way or another.
