Hello! 8, 10, and 13 for the writing questions, please! :D

8. If you had to write an entire story without action or dialogue, which would you choose and how would it go?

In middle school, I had an assignment to write a short story. We were encouraged to use a lot of dialogue (because it was measured by number of lines, not words), but I wrote a story without any. It was about a deaf child who meets a mime and they communicate with each other. I'm gonna be honest, it was terrible writing and the story idea sounds bad to me now. But it was also 6th grade so what can you expect

10. Has a piece of writing ever "haunted" you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?

Roald Dahl's The FREAKING Landlady. That's not what it's called but man. I hated that story. If you haven't read it, I advise you not to. Especially if you have a weak stomach, like me. I read that in middle school and I still think about it all the time.

As for my own writing, there was a poem I wrote when I was little that haunts me. Not because it's weird or anything, it was just "good" and I was so embarrassed about the attention it got. So I avoided reading or thinking about it for years. I don't anymore, though. I could post it on tumblr if you really want to read it (I will warn you-only my mom thought it was great)

13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you to write about? What is easy?

As far as my creative writing goes, I'm actually really terrible at dialogue. I can write it in my head just fine, but it always sounds so unnatural on paper. Sorry, that's not a subject matter. I'm pretty good at descriptions though, if I can pat myself on the back for anything. Oh, now that I think about it, I'm not good at writing gore, injuries, or anything medical-ish. I'm too squeamish to do any proper research. Also, describing stuff like that (despite detailing being my strong suit) gives me the heebie jeebies

I once saw someone claim that Goofy can’t pull off any more than his physical gags. That he has no depth.

And as someone who has seen both the Goofy movies I still feel upset by this. The outrage. The slander. Goofy’s inherit innocence makes the rare moments of emotional turmoil excruciating. You understand nothing.

Currently Watching: I have just begun The Bridge to Terabithia, which I already feel in my bones that I will regret watching (this is going to Hurt). I am also in the middle of a long-overdue Sound of Music re-watch. I just watched Barbie in the theatres(!!) and completed another long-overdue rewatch of Alice Syfy :D many thoughts!!!

Currently Reading: An Old-Fashioned Girl by Louisa May Alcott (it is SO sweet), What Anglicans Believe (Samuel Wells), The Adventures of Miss Petitfour (Anne Michaels - this is a really sweet and whimsical children's book), George Herbert's The Temple (I just finished writing an essay on Prayer (I) yesterday!)

Current Obsession: There's this Catalan Christmas carol and lullaby that I found out about today that's called "The Song of the Birds"……. you guys. This is the coolest thing ever. I LOVE it. Every verse features a different bird singing about the Incarnation. It's fantastic. (Read about it here. As a girl with a bird blog name, this makes me SO happy.)

"Chinese Satellite", Phoebe Bridgers for when I'm experiencing a longing bigger than my body and I don't know what to do with it (i.e. every day)

"Waiting Room" (live on KEXP), Phoebe Bridgers I'm obsessed with how this is a song all about how you think you're gonna wait forever for someone to turn around and love you, but then it repeats "I know it's for the better" until you can actually start to believe it

"Killer" (with Noah and Abby Gundersen), Phoebe Bridgers I love a male-female duet. always have always will. and the piano on this version is so good

I'm touched by your faith in me, but if my email-and-text writing skills are any indication, I'd be a letter-writer who so very much wants to write charming and witty letters that I'd put off writing them until it became weird to answer, and then any answer I did give would be stilted and formulaic. But one can still dream!
