I have lost respect for the Chicago White Sox. They walked Aaron Judge. That's bullshit. I was hoping that Giancarlo Stanton would've gotten a base hit or, better yet, a grand slam, but NOOOOOOO. It really irks me when a team doesn't pitch to Judge. If he got a home run today, he would've gotten his 300th home run of his career, and he would've been the player who achieved that milestone the fastest. He would have done it 137 games sooner than anyone else. How dare they take that opportunity away from Aaron. That's just not right. They are the worst team in the majors right now, even if you take away their 14 game losing streak and their 21 game losing streak. What are they trying to do. It's rather hopeless for them so at least let the best hitter in baseball set a new record. Play the game. It's amazing that Aaron got to 62 home runs in 2022 because no one wanted to pitch to him then either. Maybe they should practice and learn to pitch as well as Aaron hits. I can't believe that they're beating us right now. We can come back and I think that we will, but I digress....
While I'm bitching, get Gil off the mound, please!! It's not his day. I don't want to watch our pitcher throw away the game yet again. We need a better bullpen. Mr. Cashman should put up the cash, man, and get us some pitchers. Just saying
LET'S GO YANKEES!!!!!

#having a boyfriend who likes sports is wild and exciting to me#its been a year and its still like#oh? you want to put the tennis match on one monitor and the football game on the other while i watch baseball on my phone?#you want to wake up early to watch liverpool?#he asks me questions like about why luke weaver was so excited to get his first save on the yankees#and despite bemoaning it at first shows genuine interest in footy matches when theyre on#to the point of learning all of the players and already knowing we love darwin no matter what he does#and then to the point of agreeing to extend our trip to dublin in case liverpool made it to the europa final#and THEN to the point of asking if anyone else interesting was playing in the final after liverpool lost against atalanta#and further to the point of saying if i won a kit if he could have it#and even FURTHER to the point of sitting with me in a pub in dublin to watch the last liverpool match of the season#and then when we watch american football he explains different positions to me and like knows so much?#and same for hockey#and when he was asked to go to a hockey game in front of me all of 4 months into our relationship#he said 'i should ask liza if she wants to come because she'd be mad if she missed out on a game like that'#meanwhile the guy who asked him had his gf next to him and she was like 'can i go?' and he said 'if you want to'#like just the fact that my mans knows how stupidly important sports are to me and hes fully embraced it#and absolutely listens to me hurl absolute abuse at the television when my team lets me down#and not that i've ever vibed with the idea of subconsciously dating a guy who is like your dad#(i love my father dearly but many core facets of his personality drive me insane to no end plus i did that for many years and boy howdy. no#but the only other person to ever fully embrace and actively try to enjoy the sports i like is my dad#and its just such a loved feeling. i have never felt so so loved before.#like in a way thats not predicated on what i do or how i act its just like he loves me for me. everything else is a bonus.#i feel lighter. i feel like hes a gift. i have never experienced so much trouble in such a small amount of time while feeling so... ok??#like he isnt perfect at verbally comforting me all the time but he makes up for that by just being present and warm no matter what#i just could not be happier and feel more secure#sometimes i say 'i want to date you forever' and he hits me with '... and never get married?" and i have to fight to be vaguely normal#like oh lmao you like. you like me fr fr?? wild#anyways back to sports ignore me

I've been watching the Yanks all year. This shouldn't surprise me. Go back and look at all of the games they could have won but didn't because of blown leads, defensive errors, ass substitutions (because why are you playing DJ over Ben Rice? Defensivley he's better, no? And why didn't you call up Dominguez early so he could be adjusted to MLB pitching???), and more directly, I guess, Clay Holmes.
The Dodgers capitalized on those mistakes and won the ball game and the series.
I mean, which regular season games do you wanna go off as a reference? Someone made a list of Winnable Games we LOST. I'm confident: Any (hot) NL team with the execption of maybe the Braves (Injury Riddled) would wipe the floor with them. I should have known better.
(EDIT: I take this back with those defensive errors. I'm pretty sure the Braves could find a way, with as Injury prone as they are)
There's a lot of problems- but overall, I'm really proud of this season. Aaron Boone should be fired methinks, the 3rd base coach needs to go, and I really feel bad for Cole, Soto, and Stanton. Judge probably just ruined his legacy with this alone, and in the eyes of a casual mlb fan, he's Joel Embiid execpt he actually deserved the MVP(s) he got.

I genuinely do not get this move. We're replacing him with a man who has a 14.40 ERA and is almost thirty years old. Tonkin was great during July and is still solid compared to the other bullpen pitchers.

THE HANSHIN TIGERS HAVE BROKEN THE CURSE OF THE COLONEL!
For the people who don't know, in 1985, the Hanshin Tigers won their first (and at the time, only) Japan Series victory. Traditionally, they've been hard luck losers, and they're often compared to the Red Sox in the sense of their being overshadowed by the Yomiuri Giants, who, like the Yankees, have won more championships than any other team in their league.
When they won, fans resembling the players on the team were jumping into the Dotonbori Canal in Osaka - the fans would yell out a player's name, and a fan who looked like them would jump in. The problem was when they got to Randy Bass, who none of the Japanese fans looked like. They needed to find something resembling him and selected a statue of Colonel Sanders, who was white and had a beard like Bass, and threw it into the canal.
Colonel Sanders sank underwater, and the Hanshin Tigers did...horribly after that, usually coming in last in the league or close to it, to the point where the team was considered cursed by his presence in the canal. The team made the Japan Series a few times after that in the 2000s and once in the 2010s, but lost each time.
In 2009, the Colonel was located and recovered from the Dotonbori Canal, save for his left hand and his glasses. He's now at a location near Koshien Stadium, where the Tigers play their home games (and where the famed national high school baseball championships are played), and can be viewed there to this day.
Tumblr media
Fans were, however, not convinced that they had earned the Colonel's forgiveness, since his hand and glasses were missing. In the image above, he's been given some replacement glasses, but he still lacks a left hand.
This year, Hanshin beat the Orix Buffaloes, a team that plays roughly 20 minutes away by train in Nishinomiya, 4-3 in a seven-game series. The curse is thus considered broken...so the fans did what they do best, and threw a fan dressed like Colonel Sanders into the Dotonbori Canal.
For years, this has been my favorite baseball story, and I'm so happy that I was alive to see it seen all the way through. Congratulations, Hanshin fans!
