Like at this point I think Tahereh Mafi is just too powerful and book editors just cannot say no to her. She is too good it will ruin them if they refuse. It's the only possible explanation.

Spoilers for the This Woven Kingdom series.

It's not a finished series yet so I'm unsure of who the endgame person will be but let me just say I'm a super big fan of how top authors are leaning into snarky, clever, powerful, HOT, red headed men as love interests.

I'm betting Jamie Frazier and Outlander had something to do with this trend.

✿ a short review about this woven kingdom & these infinite threads. ✿

❥ alizeh has already become one of my favorite protagonists. she is extremely smart, articulate, and very kind. she has a strong personality, but that doesn't stop her from being polite. she is also quite independent and knows how to make her choices clearly, even being empathetic the way she is. she's refreshing in a sea of cliched female character archetypes. (really, the way she can butt heads with all the characters, including her romantic partners, is amazing to me. she doesn't shy away from anyone.)

❥ kamran reminds me of adam, but he's like an adam with personality. i was able to be moved by his feelings and feel empathy, but he is one of the most realistic monarch characters i have ever seen. his vision of the things that happen to him is extremely limited and summarized in his privileged life. it takes him a LONG time to understand that he can act entitled, and even then he doesn't really understand. something that bothers me a lot about his romance with alizeh is how easily he discredits her even though he makes such passionate statements. he looks so volatile. although this is understandable given his position as a prince, his love is not convincing enough for me. he doesn't need much to say that he wants to kill her, he never has concrete proof and always gets carried away by the situation. alizeh's friends seem to have more affection for her than him, despite the intensity of his feelings and his passionate statements. (also, i think his feelings are almost one-sided since alizeh doesn't spend much time thinking about him and there isn't much romance in the first book.)

❥ cyrus is by far the most interesting character. mainly, perhaps, because we don't know what his motivations are for doing what he did, he's a box of surprises. he seems to have a lot of story to tell. and he's so incredibly charming, being funny and provocative at the same time. he's a pretty easy character to get attached to. his romance with alizeh, for me, is one of the best parts. in this book (as he only becomes relevant in the second book) alizeh reacts to him as intensely as he reacts to her. from the start, the two disarm each other with ease and it's clearly mutual and something that seems to want to explode. the way he truly suffers for her from the beginning, and for his own choices in life, is quite moving and makes me hope that he has a happy ending with alizeh. there's something of a forbidden��romance here that is breathtakingly tragic, and i'm so excited to see what happens next!

❥ the mythology of these books was so interesting to me. the way tahereh developed it is cohesive and linear for me. i have always admired her writing, going back to the first shatter me books, but for me here it is just spectacular. although it is a fantasy book, it was very easy for me to understand the story and acquire a fluid reading pace. I'm looking forward to the conclusion of the saga!

This Woven Kingdom Spoiler Review

These are my unfiltered thoughts with little to no editing directly copy pasted from my notes. This is a spoiler filled review. There will be a plot summary at the start which will have no spoilers but then the spoiler section will start

Plot

Alizeh is a Jinn Queen. Her parents were killed and her home and kingdom was destroyed so she works as a servant in a noble's house and tries to avoid everyones notice (tho that's impossible because she's the main character). Kamran is the crown prince of the kingdom of Ardunia. Something happens and Alizeh's life is in danger the whole book is her trying to get out of it

My thoughts

It's a reread. I really enjoyed it the 1st time so I have high expectations don't remember much but I want to read the 2nd book hence the reread. I really liked Alizeh and Kamran when I first read it and the world was amazing, but the thing that really bothered me this time was that the whole story spans 2-3 days only. The characters feel too strongly about each other given that they literally met 2 days ago

Kamran is literally like 'I love her' on the 2nd day after they meet, Alizeh too!!

Alizeh is really hardworking and she never complains I loved her character in the start but then her HUGE internal monologues made it irritating to read sometimes

As for Kamran, I liked him tho he's just angry for the whole book

I don't think much of him apart from that

The writing is too flowery and descriptive. The whole thing with the apothecarist at the end was so unnecesary!! This book could have been cut in half

I skipped the whole scene of miss huda and didn't feel like i missed a thing

I would've loved this book if the events took place over 2-3 weeks instead of 2-3 days. There would've been more time to build character relationships too

After this I was sceptical wether i should read the next book or not as I read some reviews and they said that barely anything happens in the 2nd book too

But the hype was so huge that i wasn't willing to give up so I decided that ill read the 1st 10% of These Infinite Threads and if i don't like it i won't continue the series

Right now I'm at 15% and the story's moving at a decent pace but if i get fed up of the characters or the plot then I'm going to dnf it immediately without a doubt

tahereh mafi really just has something i can't find in any other book. no idea how she does it, since I'm usually way too impatient to wait on book two to get The Real Love Interes.
