not going to ask about every single one bc i definitely have self control... okay so would you mind terribly if i asked about holiday fic(s), too many white lies (and white lines), and loyalties drafting? or you fav of these or tbh anything you're working on you wanna talk about lol
omg egg yea i mind soo much how dare you!! (tyyyy<3<3) hehehe soo these are the most timely ones you could have chosen.. i could talk about them all until i was blue in the fingers but i promise not to do that (under the cut)
holiday fic(s) is only on this list because earlier this week i got so randomly excited for upcoming holiday season.. and its mostly stuff for prompt lists in 2022 and 2019 yikes yikes yikes. the only thing in there thats passable at this point is based on "What do you mean ‘cook for the guests’?" where sam gets a much-deserved, super soft day off to enjoy the place he and bucky just moved into.
“What’s up, Buchanan,” Sam greets as soon as he picks up, grinning into the crisp air like an idiot. “Hey,” Bucky snorts, “you read for today?” “Hell yeah I am, it’s gonna be great.” “Good,” Bucky answers back before taking an audible breath. “Good, I’m glad to hear it.” It sounds like he’s a little unsure about Sam’s ability to enjoy some time for himself. Which, fair. But this first hour or so has been great, and Sam will prove he can do a bit of self-care., if only just to win the argument for good. “I got you one of those scones you like,” he says, knowing it’ll get a reaction. “God, I love you,” Bucky replies.
too many white lies (and white lines) HA HAHAHA this is uh- literally just me playing with dolls again.. this time to the tune of bodies bodies bodies (2022). originally, the title of the doc was 'is2g im not writing this', then it made it to 8k somehow.
steve tony rhodey clint natasha are having a party and sam shows up out of the blue with his new boo quiet-and-clad-in-all-black bucky. fragile friendships are put to the ultimate test when the power goes out and a body is found. 😱
loyalties drafting is what happens after establishing shot. (the series is called loyalty lasting. im so funny.)
awsdfghjkl; ive def talked about this before, but this time!! the plan is to flush it out for nanowrimo.
the general idea is tws and cacw but with sam as cap, riley as the winter soldier, natasha the fuckboy playing 4 thousand roles, and bucky as just, like, the guy sam's dating when all the shit goes down, i guess.
They’re chained and shackled, but Bucky has enough room to extend his leg and press the sides of their boots together. Sam looks over at him, and his expression softens. “I’m sorry,” he says, “I never meant to get you wrapped up in and of this.” “It’s fine,” Bucky says, finding it closer to the truth that he expected. “No,” Sam grinds out. “It’s seriously not. I – ” He’s interrupted by a commotion in the front seat. The divider comes down to reveal a blonde woman with a square jaw and a wicked smile. “Sorry,” she says. “Am I interrupting your first fight?” “Sharon,” Natasha says, her expression a different kind of unreadable than Bucky's become used to. “Why are you here?” “It’s kind of a long story,” Sharon answers, her smile gone sharp. “What, are you not happy to see me? I can hand you over back to Shield if you prefer.”
✨talkin about the wips✨
#roommate audibly fighting their halloween costume in the background the entire time i was writing this#sorry if this makes no sense i cannot hear myself think :)#this was still so much longer than it shouldve been#thanks again for the tag and ask xoxo SOOO fucking fun#jo do be writing or whatever#the wip tag

Oh shit, it’s WiP Weds. Have some Kuei and Zuko bonding over being nerds
Literally this is titled “Nerd Lords” in my doc lmao.
Zuko could admit to being a bit of a scholar. It wasn’t the first thing people assumed about the Fire Nation Prince – but really, 90% of the search for the Avatar had been research – and he was good at it. He enjoyed it.
So Zuko liked books. He wasn’t afraid to acknowledge that.
Even so, he decided that it was best to keep his library visits a secret from Uncle, not least because he wasn’t supposed to have access to the libraries he’d found. Ba Sing Se University’s library was as impressive as he’d always heard – but it was also in the Middle Ring and Lower Ring refugees were not permitted to move between the rings. As Li, he had to stay in the Lower Ring.
As the Blue Spirit? He could go wherever he wanted. And he did.
The university’s library truly was amazing – but then he eavesdropped on two professors who mentioned the Royal Library having an exclusive collection and Zuko couldn’t resist.
Was it stupid to break into the Earth Kingdom Royal Palace? Most definitely. Like, really, really stupid. If he was caught, that would be it. If they discovered the Fire Nation Prince sneaking into their palace…
It would be bad. But Zuko was really curious to see if this library might have the one book on the Avatar that he’d never been able to find. It had only had a few copies ever printed, but other scrolls referred to it constantly and Zuko had never been able to track it down before.
It had been written by an Earth Kingdom scholar, so it was reasonable to think the King’s private collection might include it… right?
So Zuko knew what he was doing was stupid, but honestly, he was pretty confident in his ability to sneak around without anyone noticing.
After all, could the royal palace really be that much more protected than their military strongholds?
The King himself probably was, but that was fine. Zuko wasn’t going to go near the Earth King. Just his library. No one would even know he’d ever been there.
It was quick work to find the library and determine that there were no patrols that went by there. With that settled, he eagerly lit a small flame for light and began to peruse the collection. He appeared to be in the literature section, and even though he had intended to head straight for the Avatar section to look for his book… the title of one of the lit books jumped out at him.
Removing his mask was pretty dumb – but it narrowed his field of vision and it was annoying while trying to read. So Zuko took it off and settled on a couch with a book on legends from around the world and lit three candles – just enough light to see by.
He was completely absorbed in a comparison of how a town in the Yang Province of the Earth Kingdom and the Asiaq Tribe in the Southern Water Tribes had the exact same legend about a trickster spirit challenging their community and was therefore caught entirely off guard when there was a soft gasp and then an, “oh, hello!”
Zuko jumped, head jerking up to see not a guard but a man wearing elegant sleep robes. Only one person was likely to wander around the Royal Palace in their sleep robes, and Zuko’s throat clicked as he swallowed, realizing exactly who stood in front of him, smiling innocently.
“It’s not often I find others in the library,” the Earth King said, sounding entirely unbothered, “especially at this time of night!”
“Uh.”
“May I ask what you’re reading?” the Earth King asked, looking genuinely curious. “You seemed quite caught up in it.”
“Um. Yeah,” Zuko cleared his throat, wondering why the hell the king wasn’t calling for his guards. This was not a normal reaction to finding a stranger sneaking into your home in the middle of the night. “It – it’s a book about different stories from around the world. Apparently one of the Southern Water Tribes and a town in the northwestern Earth Kingdom have the same legend.”
“Oh, how interesting!” the Earth King said enthusiastically. “What’s the legend about?”
“Well, this old woman comes to town, seeking shelter,” Zuko said, “and then things around town start going wrong and somehow it all connects back to her – enough so that some of the townspeople accuse her of being a trickster spirit, here to bring ill times to their town.”
“Oh dear,” the Earth King said, staring intently at him with green eyes. “So what happens?”
“They kick her out of the town, and she curses them for denying her hospitality. They don’t believe her – but then the fish become sparse and their game eludes them.”
The Earth King gasped. “What happens then?”
Zuko coughed. “Uh. I don’t actually know,” he admitted. “I just got to the part where they come to believe in the curse.”
“Oh, well, don’t let me get in your way,” the Earth King said cheerily. “I’d be curious to know when you finish the story!”
“...seriously?”
“Oh yes! I find the similarities and differences between nations to be quite intriguing,” the Earth King grinned. “I’m currently making my way through a thick text of Fire Nation cultural practices. It’s very interesting!”
“...really?” Zuko couldn’t help but ask, surprised. “Why?”
“Why not?” the Earth King shrugged. “There are many behaviors that I was taught as part of etiquette with no explanation. It’s satisfying to understand why.”
Oh. Well, Zuko could understand that. Which actually make him think about the etiquette lessons he’d gone through and the questions he’d always had. “On that note,” he thought to ask, “why doesn’t the Si Wong Desert use their left hands? I was just taught that it was super offensive to offer a handshake with your left hand.”
“Oh, very much so!” the Earth King said. “It is a taboo that actually arises from the practical. In the desert, there are not many options to, um… clean oneself, so to speak. After defecating, that is. So they must use what is at their disposal. But to then use that hand for anything else? No, that would be the highest insult.”
Zuko blinked. “Huh.”
“Isn’t it interesting how culture is rooted in practicalities, and yet, it also grows until its roots can be hard to see?”
“Yeah,” Zuko agreed. It was pretty interesting.
“Anyway,” the Earth King smiled, “I’ll let you return to your reading. Do you mind if I join you?”
Zuko stared for a long moment. “Uh. I… guess not?”
“Wonderful!” The Earth King dropped a heavy tome on the table next to him. Zuko was mildly impressed he’d been able to lift it.
So the idea is that they sorta become friends through nightly library visits. But then they’re discussing a historical conflict and Kuei references the Dragon of the West.
“You’ve… studied the Dragon of the West?” Zuko asked blankly, head suddenly spinning.
“Of course,” the Earth King who had ruled Ba Sing Se through the siege smiled benignly. “General Iroh was one of Fire Lord Zoryu’s most skilled military advisors.”
Zuko opened his mouth, about to say something – and then the Earth King’s words processed. “Wait, what?”
“Well, he was ruthless, but not cruel, and he valued efficiency. Those are all good traits in a military advisor.”
Zuko shook his head, “no, you – you said Fire Lord Zoryu!?”
Kuei just blinked at him. “...yes?”
Opening and closing his mouth several times without saying anything, Zuko tried to find the right words. “Fire Lord Zoryu lived three centuries ago, in the time of Avatar Kyoshi,” he said slowly.
“...yes?” Kuei just looked confused, which made Zuko even more confused.
“The Dragon of the West is still alive,” Zuko said bluntly. “He was Fire Lord Azulon’s General, not Fire Lord Zoryu’s.”
“What?” Kuei’s face twisted. “What are you talking about?”
Zuko stared at him. “Do – do you know who the current Fire Lord is?” he asked hesitantly.
“Of course!” Kuei huffed, slightly offended. “Fire Lord Ozai has ruled for six years.”
“...then how can you not know when his brother lived?”
“His… what?” Kuei’s frown was deep. “What are you talking about?”
“What are you talking about!?” Zuko was starting to get frustrated. “The siege was only six years ago! How can you not know that!?”
“That’s absurd,” Kuei shook his head. “It was well over three hundred years ago.”
“...what?”
“What?” Kuei looked just as confused as Zuko was. “I’ve studied history, you know. I know when the Dragon of the West lived.”
Zuko sputtered. “He’s still alive! He was only born sixty years ago!”
“That’s ridiculous!”
“You – that–” Zuko covered his face trying to breathe. “Are you telling me that your history books put General Iroh in Kyoshi’s time!?”
“...yes? Where else would he be?”
Zuko clutched at his hair, trying to understand how Kuei could be so wrong. “If – if you think General Iroh lived so long ago, then – then who led the war efforts across the Earth Kingdom?”
“What war efforts?” Kuei frowned. “General Iroh conquered a swath through the Earth Kingdom and besieged Ba Sing Se, but ultimately failed. That was three hundred years ago.”
“What!?” Zuko’s voice was a little too high pitched, but seriously, what!? How was he supposed to explain that everything about what Kuei was saying was wrong!? “You – you know about the war, right?” his voice was hesitant and it felt silly to ask, but there seemed to be a real possibility that he might not and–
“Which war?”
“The – the war! The Hundred Years War!”
Kuei frowned, rubbing his chin and clearly thinking about the different battles he was familiar with. “No, I don’t recall reading about that one. When was it?”
“Now!” Zuko said shrilly. “It – it’s literally now. How can you not know this? You’re the Earth King!”
“Nonsense,” Kuei dismissed. “We’re living in a time of unprecedented peace.”
Zuko just stared. “You… you’re fucking kidding me, right? The world has been at war for a hundred years!”
“That’s ridiculous,” Kuei scoffed. “I would know if my kingdom was at war.”
“…apparently not,” Zuko said, feeling a kind of numb shock overtaking him. “Kuei, the Earth Kingdom has been at war for your entire life.”
Kuei actually laughed. “I think I would know!”
“So would I!” Zuko burst out. “How can you not!?”
The plan is that Kuei gets upset and asks Zuko to leave and Zuko is disbelieving and frustrated and tells Uncle. But in the meantime, Kuei asks Long Feng about it - and Long Feng says it’s nonsense and he trusts his advisor, of course he does. But he can’t stop thinking about it.
So when Zuko decides to risk going back to the palace (they have that book on the Avatar!!), Kuei runs into him and they talk and possibly Zuko convinces him to leave the palace and come down to the Lower Ring, where signs of the war are more obvious. And possibly he brings Kuei to meet the actual General Iroh at some point idk.

Weight of the Word || Lydia and Rio
Timing: Current Parties: @3starsquinn and @inspirationdivine Summary: Lydia and Rio encounter an Aufhocker. Athena’s “Orion no!” senses are definitely tingling. Warnings: very brief abuse mention (Quinn parents)
Lydia hadn’t returned to the park since she’d come across the body with Morgan. In fact, as she stood as the entrance, she shivered as if ice was trickling down her spine. Maybe not the park, no matter how beautiful the sun was. What about a deeper thicket of trees? Where there was a smaller chance of finding a dead corpse because there was a smaller chance of finding anyone, while still getting that fresh summer air. She shoved her hand into her purse, to feel the cool reassuring ivory of her gun’s handle safely tucked in there. Not much help against a warden, but spellcasters died much the same way anyone else did. All the same, even as she walked through the forest, she could feel herself failing to relax, even in the light of nature’s beauty. When she heard some leaves rustle, she almost jumped right out of her glamour, pistol drawn in a moment. “Who’s there?”
Against his better judgement, Orion found himself floating throughout the trees still. He had tried staying away. The incident with the trolls had really done a number on him. One that he still wasn’t sure how to process. People like Winston and Ricky helped. Self defense was a good argument, and life or death made it sound even more reasonable. But he still couldn’t shake that feeling. That what if? If only he could have done something else. But it didn’t matter. The Scribe headquarters meant that a walk through the woods was unavoidable. Plus, he had spent so much of his life walking through the town that he had learned the quickest way around it was through the forest. That didn’t stop his heart from plummeting when he heard the rustling in the woods. He froze on the spot, refusing to even breathe on the off chance that he had run into any danger. He didn’t relax until he heard a woman’s voice and sighed in relief, slowly walking out from behind a tree and speaking loud enough for the woman to hear without trying to sound like he was being intimidating. Not that Rio even knew how to be intimidating. “It’s me. I mean just me. Rio. Rio is me.” Rio introduced himself, realizing that saying that it was him didn’t give much information to the lady, “Don’t worry I’m not here t-” His sentence was cut off when he finally caught side of the woman, gun drawn and pointed directly at him. The panic returned in an instant, and Rio jumped a mile into the sky, both hands raised in surrender and moments away from falling to his knees. “Don’t shoot me please! I’m just a college student. And part time pizza prep guy. And morgue assistant” All of that definitely wasn’t necessary, but he was frazzled. “Please don’t shoot!”
Lydia stared at him, and slowly lowered the pistol between them, gasping deeply like she’d forgotten to breathe when she saw him. She had, her heart had leapt into her throat. “You work with Regan?” She asked, staring at him, and while she held it pointed away from him, she didn’t put it away yet. They weren’t that far- Lydia blinked hard, pushing that thought far away from them. If she needed to, she could get into the trees, she could shoot him dead, and almost no one would hear her run away from the crime scene. Terror like that, though, it was hard to fake. Not that Regan was known for being a people person, or a good read on anything. “My apologies, I do not like to be snuck up on.”
Orion gave the woman a puzzled look. “The doctor?” He questioned here. He suddenly wondered if she was familiar with the doctor in normal, human size or pixie sized. Not that Rio doubted the doctor when she told him that she was not normally inches tall, but he did wonder how long she had been the height she currently was. Even more so, he had no idea what she had to do with the conversation. At least until he realized what he had said as he had failed to stumble through even the simplest of introductions to the stranger. “Oh! Oh. No. I mean, I know her but I don’t work with her. I uh- dead people.” He paused. Jesus Christ. Way to go, Rio. Really comforting way to correct yourself to the woman with a gun. “I mean- uh I misspoke. Sorry. I work at a funeral home. With dead people. I mean I don’t deal with dead people. But I work for Erin, who does.” He sighed, surprised that the woman hadn’t just shot him to put both of them out of their misery. “I’m sorry I just- I don’t like guns. At all. Especially when they’re pointed at me.” She must have realized through the incessant babbling that Rio clearly wasn’t threatening and lowered the gun, much to his own relief. He finally lowered his hands, placing one against his heart and using the other to prop himself a tree instead, taking deep breaths to make up for the oxygen he had lost rambling. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to sneak up on you. I heard rustling and wanted to make sure no one was hurt or something.” He tried explaining further, making sure not to take any extra steps in her direction to freak her out any further, “You’re uh- not hurt or something right?”
“Dead people?” Lydia repeated, squinting. “Right, I see. You work with Erin.” Not that Lydia knew who Erin was, but he loved to ramble, so she let him, still squeezing her palm around her pistol’s handle. “I don’t think many people like pistols pointed at them,” she agreed. “No, not currently,” Lydia replied, looking over herself to confirm indeed she wasn’t hurt, standing straight and dropping her shoulders. “I was merely frightened by you. Sorry. I think this town is getting to me.” All at once, it was as if she had jinxed it, she heard more rustling of leaves on the forest floor to her right, deeper in the forest. Lydia tensed up, until a little black dog burst out of the leaves and ran up to them with a bright wagging tail, playfully sniffling around them. “Hello little one. Is your owner nearby?” She asked softly, smiling as she crouched to pet the pup.
Orion couldn’t help but keep his eyes trained on the gun. Even though he was pretty sure that the woman had no plans to shoot him. Just the thing being on display made his heart beat slam against his chest. It wasn’t that surprising in all honesty, Rio could trace back to the root of his fear of guns. It was the same thing that caused most of his fears. The Quinn parents had really done a number, huh? He shook the thought away, trying to focus on the woman’s words even if he was still eyeing the gun. “Yeah uh- this town has that effect on people. You must be semi new then?” Maybe Rio would never get over his fears, but he had at least come to expect them in a town like this. Growing up in White Crest was trauma enough, especially growing up with supernatural knowledge. “I uh- I didn’t get your name, by the way.” He had introduced himself in a panic, waving around frantically in an attempt to not get shot. But the woman had never shared her own. He was quickly distracted, when another noise could be heard within the trees and Rio leapt inches into the other, hopping away from the rustling but turning towards it. He let out a nervous chuckle when he realized it was just a dog. One that the woman had seemed to take a quicker liking to than she had to Rio. He rubbed at the back of his neck and smiled at the puppy, expecting an owner to be following behind shortly, but Rio couldn’t hear anyone coming from the woods. And he didn’t see a collar either. Was it a stray? Suddenly, the dog leapt into the air, gaining an impressive height before landing on the woman. Rio stumbled forward as quickly as he could to help steady her if needed and make sure she wasn’t knocked down from the dog’s sudden pouncing. “Hey! Oh god are you okay?”
“Lydia,” she replied with a polite yet curt smile. One moment, the puppy had been sweet as syrup, tilting and stretching its little head with its eyes slowly drifting closed as she scratched under its jaw. Lydia shuffled slightly to make sense of it. She didn’t even notice the tiny snap of a twig under her heels. The dog leapt with a deep snarl - deeper than it had any right to be - and sank its claws into Lydia’s coat, ripping right through three thousand dollars worth of material. “Ow!” Lydia yelled, staggering against a tree. She tried to shake it off, all too aware of her wings glamoured away just beneath his claws. “Get it off me! Get it off!”
Either this dog really had some sort of vendetta against Lydia, or this was no dog at all. Orion’s brain began racing, a hundred possibilities running through his head. If this wasn’t a dog, what could it be? And why was it suddenly attacking Lydia? Moments ago, the animal had been happily accepting attention from the woman. Rio grabbed onto the dog, attempting to pull it free from Lydia, but even with Rio’s enhanced strength, he couldn’t get the grip free. More than that, this thing seemed to be getting heavier. Definitely not a dog. Which begged the question: What the heck was this thing? From the looks of it, Rio didn’t have much time to figure out. “Oh my god oh my god oh my god” Rio repeated again and again, letting go of the dog and hopping up and down and frantically thinking about what he could do. “Are you okay? What’s happening?” He needed information. That was the only thing he could do to help. He needed to help her before it was too late.
Lydia squealed in disgust as she fet something warm and wet drip down her back, black dog slobber messing up her clothes. He grabbed on and Lydia tried to yanked herself free from the dog, but it just grew even heavier as she flailed. “NO, don’t stop! Rio!” She cried, clutching the tree for support. “It’s heavy and it’s slobbering down my neck!” Lydia yelled frantically. It had been a day or two since she had eaten, she was strong, but not at her strongest. “Call animal control, or something!” She snapped, holding out her pistol for him. “Or shoot it! Just get it off me!” She could pull him close, press her lips to his and get all the strength she needed. Lydia stumbled, and snap, snap, snap went the twigs nearby. The beast on her back grew.
Understandably, Lydia was freaking out. Orion was too, and he wasn’t even the one being bogged down by some sort of evil dog with an unbreakable grip. The woman screaming his name pierced his skin and sent a shiver down his back. He had never heard his name screamed quite like that before. He had heard it in anger, but never in desperation like this was. He was needed. He had to do something. Otherwise, this woman could die. And Rio would have proven to be just as worthless as he was afraid he was. Lydia handed the gun off to him and Rio just stared at it for a long moment before giving it and gingery grabbing it from her, holding it by his index finger and thumb and keeping his arms extended as far away from himself as he could. But he knew this was useless. A gun wasn’t going to stop this thing. What would help was Rio’s brain focusing. He knew what this thing was. He knew he did. It was some kind of wolf. He had spent his entire life learning about supernatural beasts. There were clues here. He was growing. He couldn’t be torn off and… it was heavy. The puppy couldn’t have weighed more than ten pounds at the beginning. And Rio had realized while pulling that he was getting stronger. The puzzle pieces started to fit together, and Rio was starting to form an idea. “I can’t- this gun won’t do anything against it.” Rio admitted to Lydia, using his finger to click the safety on before finally stuffing it into his pocket. This gun wouldn’t hurt it, but Rio had an idea. He just hoped that he was right. “I- I have an idea. But we have to leave. Right now. I don’t-” Did this woman know about the supernatural? Would she think he was insane? “I just need you to trust me okay? I’m going to help you. I promise I’ll get this thing off of you.” He slid over to grab onto Lydia. Just as he thought, the weight of the dog was getting heavier and heavier. If they were going to make it anywhere, it needed to be now. “Follow me.” He spoke through rapid breaths, holding her up as he began walking.
Lydia almost asked, biting back a whimper as the beast snarled by her ear. It wasn’t a good idea to ask, because it would only frighten her more, so she grit her teeth together. What happens when it gets too heavy for me to carry? He didn’t even do anything useful when he took the pistol, looking at her like she’d handed him a bomb instead of a usable weapon. “Do something!” Instead, he clicked the safety and Lydia stamped her foot. “What do you mean it wouldn’t work?” In the non-panicked inch of her mind, Lydia knew. There were creatures bullets couldn’t kill. That didn’t mean she had to like it, but maybe this person knew what would kill it. She just had to… be strong, which was easier said than done when her stomach muscles were beginning to burn. She didn’t even smile as she felt his promise settle into place, and let his other words bind him too. If he failed and the wolf monster killed her, well, it’d probably kill him too, but if she could motivate him to stay, then Lydia would use everything she had. He grabbed her, and Lydia nodded, marvelling at how strong he was for such a compact body. “Lead the way, it’s not like- Ah, it’s not like I can go anywhere else!”
How much could Orion explain that Lydia would understand? Did she know about the supernatural? Or did she think he was absolutely insane? She certainly didn’t seem pleased that Rio wasn’t going to shoot the dog. He didn’t think a gun would work anyways, and chances were he would just end up shooting Lydia. That wouldn’t help the situation at all. But eventually, she decided to trust him. Or rather, she probably decided that she didn’t have any other choice. Trust may not have been a factor at all. As the two began walking, Rio pushing the two forward as quickly as he could, he finally answered her, “This isn’t… a normal dog” he began, biting his lip and trying to carefully pick his words before saying them aloud, “It can’t be killed by normal means. Which sounds crazy, I know. But it’s true. Seriously.” From the angle he was pushing, he couldn’t actually see Lydia’s face to determine whether or not she believed him. He supposed by this point it didn’t really matter if she believed him or not. Before long, the two would find out for sure whether Rio was right or not. Or the two would slip up. Crumble to the pressure, literally, and fall over. If Rio was right, he definitely didn’t want to see that. The two continued on, the weight of the dog getting heavier and heavier. He wasn’t sure one person would have been enough at this point. At least not one person with regular strength. But Rio’s strength would only take her so far.
If she hadn’t had a dog weighing on her back so heavily that Lydia was hunched over, if she wasn’t so frightened she could barely breath, Lydia might have sighed in relief. Obviously, it was no normal dog. So of course it couldn’t be just killed. All the same, Lydia clung to him as if her life depended on it, wondering if it did. If maybe the wolf would just climb off her when it got bored, instead of ripping out her throat. “I’ll have to trust you.” Each step out of the woods, it grew heavier and heavier, until she caught sight of one of its fangs from the corner of her eyes, and Lydia whimpered, It was as long as her fingers and glistened with drool If they weren’t both so strong. Lydia swallowed as they emerged from the woods, her legs trembling. “Where’re we going?”
This was getting harder. Not just because the weight of the dog was becoming more and more crushing, but because Lydia’s nails dug into Orion’s arm and he was at a really awkward angle right now. It would be his luck that he would end up dying from a cramp they caused the two to tumble over and get mauled by a supernatural dog. Plus side, Lydia was trusting Rio. Not that she had much of a choice at the moment, but hey, small victories! Now he couldn’t get her killed. She had put her faith in him. And speaking of faith, Lydia wanted to know where they were going. Rio didn’t like the answer, mostly because he hadn’t been back there since he ran away from the Quinn house. But despite his apprehension, he supposed the place may actually come in handy today. Plus, it was because of the forced attendance that he even knew there was one close by. Just over this hill and it would be at the bottom. “We’re uh- going to church.” Rio sighed. This was the worst.
“Right, great.” Lydia replied with a strain in her voice. She just needed to be a little stronger. It didn’t seem to be growing heavier or larger now that they were struggling up the pavement, but her legs were turning to jelly. Her side cramped up. She needed more strength in her than her most recent meal had left her. As Rio helped pull her over the hill, she eyed the side of his head. He didn’t feel all that artistic, but she only needed a tiny amount to take some of his life. Not a full meal, but a taste. Lydia leant into his grip, and sipped at his life force. It reinvigorated her, more powerful than she’d expected. He had a lot of life in him. With this new found strength of hers, they reached the top of the hill. “That one there?” Lydia asked, tilting her head to the church below.
Orion was exhausted. He had broken out into a sweat, supporting the weight of Lydia and the demon dog hellbent on murdering the two of them. Or at least Lydia, Rio wasn’t really sure on the specifics of whether the dog would pick him as his next meal or not. Hard to tell, honestly. The weight of the creature had been getting gradually heavier as the two had walked out of the forest and towards the road. The weight seemed to be getting heavier at a faster rate, or Rio’s body was beginning to give out on him. Rio couldn’t be sure, but he did know that the hunter strength and endurance seemed to be failing him at the moment. If he was supposed to be so advanced, while couldn’t he help carry a lady and one measly supernatural dog to a church? As if he needed anymore examples as to why this power was overrated and disappointed. He rolled his eyes at his own thoughts and kept forward, legs beginning to tremble under the pressure. But he continued. They were so. Freaking. Close. “That’s the one. We’re almost there.” Rio breathed heavily, wiping at the sweat that had pooled on his face. So gross. “Be careful going down. The last thing we want is to get eaten after coming all this way because we trip or something.” He was talking to himself more than Lydia, trying to verbally convince himself that if there was anytime to not be clumsy. This was the one. But even that thought was hard to remember when all he could think about was how tired he was.
“Saying things like that doesn’t help,” Lydia said, hot breath of the beast hissing down her neck, that was already wet with slobber and sweat. If they made it out tonight, it was her turn to drink a large vaseful of wine. If. That was a terrible thought indeed. If she needed it, she could pull more life from him to sustain her own strength, but his was still more than hers for the moment. They wouldn’t fall, they wouldn’t fall, they wo- Lydia groaned as she dropped her elbows onto the stone wall by the church, her knees ready to buckle. “Now what. Now what!” She yelled. He’d promised he’d help her, so why wasn’t he helping? Why wasn’t he doing anything?? Lydia yelled in pain as the church bells rang the hour. One, two, three… The beast on her yelped, and Lydia almost collapsed as it jumped from her back, shrinking down to the black furred pup it had been before, and ran back up the hill. Lydia’s knees buckled and she groaned as she fell to the ground, pressing her forehead against the cool wall. “How- how did you know?”
They made it to the church. Somehow, they had made it to the church. And yet… the dog hadn’t left. Orion fought back tears from escaping, not that it would have been that noticeable through the sweat. But the sniffling definitely would have been embarrassing. He needed to get inside of the church. Or he needed to throw something. He couldn’t even muster up the strength to pull his phone from his pocket and check the time. He was too tired. Too drained. The stone wall was a welcome reprieve, but it only gave them a short break. He couldn’t keep it up much longer. He couldn- His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the church bells. Holy crap. The sound was loud and echoed, every chime like a nail being jammed into Rio’s eardrum, stupid hunter hearing. But even as he winced and tried to shove his elbow against an ear to block some of it out, he was so happy to hear that noise. Rio held his breath, hoping that he hadn’t been wrong this whole time. He was beginning to doubt himself, when nothing immediately happened. But finally the animal hopped off of Lydia’s back, a tremendous weight being lifted from both of their shoulders and the dog ran back up the hill, returning to the small size it had been. Rio collapsed onto the ground, rolling over onto his back and letting the grass, cold and moist from dew, cool the back of his neck. He was almost tempted to roll up his sleeves and let the grass cool his arms. Almost. Instead, he remained motionless on the grass, his eyes closing as he finally regained some normal breathing. “I- I read about it.” Rio explained, peaking an eye open to glance at Lydia, who looked just as tired as he did. “It’s called an Aufhocker. It doesn’t like loud noises or the sun. It really doesn’t like church bells.” As if speaking the name brought back the memories, an epiphany finally hit Rio. The twigs! It had been growing in size because of the twigs. That’s how that happened. Would have been real helpful information an hour ago. “I’m uh- glad that it worked honestly. I’ve never actually been around one of those things in real life.”
Lydia panted hard, unsure if she’d ever be able to stand up again. The rock wasn’t enough to cool her, but as she lay there, effectively kneeling in front of the church, Lydia laughed. She prayed briefly, for kindness and forgiveness, and safety from whatever had just attacked her. An Aufhocker. “I’m incredibly fortunate you had read about it then.” She promised herself that she would ask Jared about them later, although perhaps without mentioning how close she’d come to her own demise. She looked sideways at the boy collapsed in the grass. “You could have left me. I am grateful that you didn’t.” Lydia spoke in short bursts, her chest aching from the exertion on her back. “You’re strong, your hearing is sensitive, you have so much… you’re warm.” She’d almost told him he had so much life in his, but that was a strange thing to say. “You aren’t… What are you?” A werewolf, perhaps? Lydia slowly twisted so she could sit leaning against the wall instead of just pressing her forehead against it. All she could think was… thank god she wasn’t wearing heels today.
Lydia didn’t seem completely opposed to the idea of the aufhocker. Whether that was because she had just witnessed the beast for herself or because she was already familiar with the supernatural, Orion couldn’t be sure. In a town like this, it seemed like it would be hard not to know about it. But that never seemed to stop the majority of its residents from living their lives in ignorant bliss. Or uh- dying in it as well. As morbid as that was to consider. “I wouldn’t have left you.” Rio sat straight up at her comment, a wave of dizziness rushing to his head that almost forced him to lie back down. But he stayed upright, his legs still displayed against the greenery of the church yard. “You were in trouble. If I left you back there-” He didn’t know how to finish the sentence. He’d be as much of a monster as that thing? Was the Aufhocker even a monster? It was certainly dangerous. His parents had been sure to drill that point home. But Rio was more interested in why it did what it did. “I couldn’t do that.” He settled on. And then practically filling in the blanks for Rio, Lydia questioned his strength. So she definitely knew something about the supernatural. “Uh-” Rio didn’t know what to say. Would she know what a hunter was? Would she be glad to hear it or displeased? “I’m a human. Mostly. I just have… some special abilities. Heightened senses and what not.” He didn’t want to come clean. To admit to something that he wasn’t. As if to drive the point home, just in case she did know what a hunter was, he clarified “I’m glad he lived through that. The dog… thing. I don’t think I could have killed it. I mean… I’m not sure they are killable. But like, also I don’t really kill things.” Rio sighed, was that obvious enough? “You uh- don’t seem all that shocked about a growing dog and a kid with super strength.” He winced at himself for labelling himself as a kid. How did he expect others to stop doing it when he was doing it himself?
Everything he said about how he couldn’t have possibly left Lydia went right out the window when he told her what he was. Or rather, when he didn’t tell her what he was. Lydia, who had barely had time to recover from the bone crushing weight of the Aufhocker, began to panic once more. Blood rushed in her ears as she tried to stand up. It was a trap All this had been a trap. To what? Get her to a more convenient hunting ground? An easier place to hide her body?? “Oh god,” Lydia whimpered as she reached for her pistol, only to remember it was in his pocket. He’d disarmed her and exhausted her with a terrifying brilliance. “No, no, please,” She whimpered, scrabbling to her feet. She wobbled as she stepped back, and stumbled into the wall. Her chin trembled, eyes springing full of tears. “I didn’t do anything. Please. I won’t - get away from me! Get away from me! HELP!”
Orion honestly had no idea what had just happened. One moment, the two were catching their breaths after escaping near certain death together. They were casually talking in what may have been the least awkward conversation Rio had ever had with a stranger. Something about the exhaustion had sapped the anxiety from him. Well, at least until Lydia had started freaking out, screaming at him and trying desperately to get away from him, leaving him lying there in the grass, completely dumbfounded. “Hey! Hey! What’s wrong?” Rio crawled up to his feet, his energy already beginning to return to him. Okay, maybe the hunter endurance hadn’t completely failed him after all. Though clearly, standing up and towering over the woman hadn’t been the right choice. Seeing the error immediately, Rio dropped back down, this time onto his knees. As he did, he felt a stabbing pain in his side, and with a sudden, fear inducing realization he realized that he had come this entire way carrying a freaking gun. He felt hot all around. He hated guns. Hated them. “I don’t know what’s going on- but I’m not going to hurt you!” He held his hands up in surrender, his palms facing towards Lydia and slinking away from her. Clearly, it was best not to move any closer to her. “I don’t- Please don’t leave me with your gun. I hate guns.” He pulled the gun from his waist, making sure to angle it away from Lydia and setting it on the grass between them, as far from himself as his arms would reach. “I also hate getting shot so uh- please don’t shoot me?” He tried for a smile, but he could feel his lips trembling. This was a gesture of good faith, yeah? Lydia wasn’t actually going to shoot him. Right?
Lydia tried to scrabble further back as he towered over, her scream turning into a squeak, her legs too weak to get up and run the way she needed. Chances were, even if she tried he’d gun her down. Whimpering at that thought, she clung to the wall, urging herself to get back up, run, do anything other than lie there and die. He dropped back down to his knees as a trick, to get her to calm down. Why?? He’d won. All he had to do was to lunge forward and snap her neck, or shoot her, or use any of the dozen knives he must have on his person to tear into her. Maybe he was one of the cruelest ones, that liked to play mind games before slowly tearing them apart. “Please, I haven’t - I don’t hurt people, please,” She flinched as he raised his hands, even if it was in surrender, and he spoke. Lydia grabbed his words and twisted them into a promise too. He wouldn’t hurt her, he said, and now he couldn’t. Maybe he didn’t know what she was. Lydia panted, sitting a little more upright. Flinching as he pulled out her pistol, Lydia watched him set it on the grass and then lean back. Her gaze darted from him to the pistol, and back to him, before Lydia lunged for the pistol, and aimed it right at him. “Don’t move. You’re a hunter!”
Maybe giving the gun back to her had been a bad idea. As far as decisions went, it hadn’t been one of Orion’s smartest choices. But when had Rio ever been applauded for making particularly intelligent choices? He swore he was the dumbest smart kid alive. “I don’t hurt people either.” Rio tried to reassure Lydia. That was why he was giving up the gun. A peace offering of sorts. Only, Lydia grabbed the gun and trained it on him. Rio felt his heartbeat jump and he kept his hands held up in surrender. Don’t cry. Don’t cry. Don’t cry. He kept repeating the mantra to himself. Over and over hoping that he would follow his own advice. “I’m not!” Rio frantically claimed, his voice was erratic and came out scratchier than he had intended. Of course this was about being a hunter. This was the response that he expected every time someone found out. This was the response he deserved. He took a deep breath to try to gather himself before trying again, “I’m not.” Okay, that sounded a bit better, “I mean genetically yes. I guess. But I’m not like them. I don’t hunt. Anything.” He supposed he couldn’t honestly say that he hadn’t killed anything. The troll was a near constant reminder of that. “I don’t want to hurt you. Just like I didn’t want to hurt the Aufhocker.” How did people stay calm with a gun pointed at them? Rio was seconds away from hyperventilating, a minute from a full on panic attack. At that point, Lydia probably would shoot him, “Please don’t shoot me. I- I don’t want to die.” Now. Finally. He truly didn’t want to die.
Lydia’s arms trembled just from the weight of holding up her tiny pistol. All of her was exhausted. The trembling could just as much be terror. She swallowed, slowly getting to her feet. She’d need a cab to get her home, but she couldn’t call one when he was still there. Her legs wobbled. “I am not like that animal!” Lydia wanted to glance around, in case it was coming back, but wardens moved fast as lightning and carried iron in their veins. He didn’t need a weapon when he was the weapon. “I don’t want to die either! And the last thing I need is a dead hunter that other hunters want to avenge. I don’t- I don’t understand. So what, you don’t hunt, but instead you’ll tell every hunter you know about me? How is that better?” Her voice cracked, not even aware that exhaustion had her lowering the barrel. He couldn’t hurt her. He couldn’t hurt her. It wasn’t a reassuring mantra in the slightest. “Why should I believe you?”
This wasn’t going well. Orion couldn’t keep his composure for much longer. If the shaking and heavy breathing could even be considered composed. He would have a full on meltdown soon. And he didn’t think that Lydia was exactly the type to fetch his inhaler for him. Okay, well Rio had not meant to compare her to the creature before, but noted. If Lydia wasn’t human… what was she? Clearly not a werewolf, Rio would have sensed it. Unless she had some sort of magic to stop it. He wondered if Winston knew anything about that. “We don’t have to! Neither of us should die. We got away from the thing trying to kill us!” They had worked together. Gotten through the forest, and over a hill and to a church of all places. Wasn’t that like bonding? Couldn’t they be friends or something now? “I don’t think there are many hunters that would be dead set on avenging me” Rio found himself saying, then immediately cursed himself for practically giving her an excuse to shoot him. Nic probably wouldn’t be happy. Maybe Kaden and Alain. Athena would definitely lose her mind, but Athena would have no regrets about killing this woman regardless. “I don’t even talk to hunters. Not really!” That wasn’t the entire truth, but it was true enough. “I don’t like hunters. Or hunting. I want to protect the supernatural. Not hurt them. I-” He broke off into a sob. There it went. He knew he couldn’t hold the tears back forever. “I don’t know how to prove it to you. Or how to get you to believe me. But I’m telling the truth!”
He sounded so much like Lydia had moments ago, pleading for his life. The difference was that he kept putting himself down, telling her how little he was worth to others, which would only make it easier to kill him. He sobbed as she stared at him. It wasn’t pity. It certainly wasn’t empathy. It was the cold, calculating cogs of Lydia’s mind that had her slowly lowering the gun, until it wasn’t pointed at him any more. Once again, she was ready to change that at a moment’s notice. Which was a second’s length away from being ready to shoot at a moment’s notice. She had to trust the promises, and look beyond the terror of the last hour. Beat the fear, and see the opportunity here. He wasn’t valued by other hunters. He didn’t hunt. He wanted to protect. There was a treasure trove to use here, if only she could get her own heart to stop screaming. Humans like him had killed her sister, but if she could see past that…. Lydia swallowed. “You know, this really wasn’t what I was planning to do with my afternoon,” she said softly, her voice breaking around her chuckle.
Orion didn’t want to look anymore. If he was going to die, he didn’t want to see it happen. So he shut his eyes. Tried picturing better things. Like that day at the carnival, surrounded by his closest friends, hours away from holding hands with Winston. He thought about dying his hair with Blanche. Pleasant memories, even if both times had been coupled with different traumatizing events. He thought about Layla and how it had felt when the two had escaped from the vampire. Or how close he felt to Nic, despite how different the two were. How he wished he had more time to watch anime with Skye and Winston, or to help Skye figure out that being a Selkie wasn’t as bad as she thought it was. But the longer he sat there thinking about all of these things, he realized that he was still here, doing just that. He hadn’t been shot yet. He risked opening an eye, blinking through the tears and looking at Lydia. She had lowered the gun. Rio opened both eyes now, staring a bit wide-eyed at her. He hadn’t expected this. With Lydia, it seemed like he didn’t really know what to expect next. When Lydia spoke again, Rio laughed through one last sob, using his sleeves to wipe away at the tears that had been streaming down his face. “Me neither.” Rio agreed. Now he was emotionally drained along with physically drained. He fell back from the spot he had been anchored to, falling back on his beat and cradling his knees against his chest in a fetal position. His knees stung from how long he had been resting in that position, “I don’t- Neither of us wants to hurt the other. I don’t think.” At least, considering she had pulled the gun away, he hoped that she didn’t want to hurt him. “Maybe we can just call a cab. And go home?”
Lydia pulled a handkerchief from her purse, and held it out for him to wipe his face properly, if he so wanted it. Her eyes were red, her mouth full of fearful saliva, her hair messed beyond recognition and her clothes destroyed too. She sat outside a church with a gun in her hands and a hunter in front of her. It might as well have been a nightmare. A hunter that didn’t hunt, no less, that was cowardly and weak emotionally. Her lips quirked slightly, as if she was feeling self-deprecating, or self conscious. “No, I don’t want to hurt you,” Lydia agreed softly. Not for now, anyway. She sat on the wall, looking over the graveyard of the church. A dozen tombstones as old as her dotted the grounds. Lydia itched for a bath, for a hot drink, and the comfort of Remmy’s pleasant presence. Maybe she’d even make those plans to meet with Deirdre in the mirror district, and work out how to make their fairy ring debacle right again. That was one friend she couldn’t afford to lose. “I think that’s- I think that’s probably a good idea. Rio, right? Can I pay for your cab?”
There was a wave of relief as Orion realized that he wasn’t dying. Especially at a church, which was objectively the worst place that he could possibly have been killed. He took the handkerchief timidly from Lydia and patted at his cheeks softly. He didn’t know how these things worked. Was he supposed to give it back to her now? Would she ever want it back? “Thank you” He nodded. Finally, Rio risked standing again. He slowly pushed himself off the ground, climbing to his feet and testing the waters. His leg had fallen asleep, and his body ached all over from the walk, but other than that he was functional. He wobbled away from Lydia, only a few feet away, just enough to lean against a tree and shake his leg in an attempt to wake it up. “You really don’t have to do that.” Rio smiled. He almost offered that they just share one into town. But he decided that going their separate ways would probably be for the best today. “But uh- I can order a lyft or something. One for each of us.” Rio pulled his phone from his pocket. The only reason he even had the app had been because of Blanche. He used to just drive or walk anywhere he needed to go. “Do I uh- Do you want the handkerchief back?” He asked Lydia, holding it up for show.
Lydia’s eyes flickered as he thanked her. If she hadn’t known already, Lydia was certain of it now - he had never had a long conversation with a warden about hunting. She smiled, as graciously as she could manage considering both their states, accepting it completely. All the same, when he stood up, Lydia tensed, hand tightening around the handle of her gun. Trying not to look like her heart was planning its evacuation from her chest. “I’ll order my own, don’t worry about it.” She said softly, tapping away at her phone when he addressed her again. Lydia looked up, and shook her head. He really was practically a child. “Keep it,” Lydia said. Just like she would keep the three promises binding him to her close to her chest, to be saved for another time.

1, 14, 19, 22, 36 and 40 for the wrighters asks, maybe????:)
1 Which of your fics would you keep the basic plot of but rewrite completely?
definitely my most recent trust au fic, 'out of aces'. i really wasn't happy with it all the way through the process, which is why i procrastinated on it so long. by the time i posted it i'd gotten to a place where i was fine with it and also never wanted to work on it again. if i had the time, i'd like to just delete the original doc and start from scratch.
14 Write and share the first sentence of a new fic. Just that.
It’s very bright, when Sausage wakes, but not in an eye-hurting-squinting-to-see kind of way; it’s bright in a soft, warm way, bright in a way that makes him think of gold and sunflowers and home.
19 Share a snippet from a wip without giving any context for it.
When Scott had suggested it, desperation lacing his voice, Jimmy had barely even had to think about it before accepting. Even if it wasn’t the only option to keep him safe, it was the only one that Jimmy wanted to consider. A chance to be engaged to Scott Smajor, despite the way he messed up their friendship by kissing him that one time? Please.
What he didn’t consider was the fact that even letting Scott sleep in his bed at night was already something that left him feeling empty inside—watching him sleep and knowing that they would never have anything that he truly wants. Surely he ought to have thought about how much worse being betrothed to him would be.
And now here they are, playing a game of catch with Jimmy’s heart, the odds of it hitting the ground and shattering becoming more and more likely with every passing moment.
bit more than a snippet if that's all right :)
22 What is it about watching the same two idiots falling in love over and over again?
DUDE IF YOU FIGURE IT OUT LMK. idk what it is about flower husbands that keeps drawing me back. maybe it's the way they were in a death game and they were the only ones who found peace and they had it because they loved each other jhsjdfhliygdHBnc i wrote a whole fic about my feelings about them for fh week it was called 'asleep and awake'
36 How do you come up with fic titles? What's the one you're most proud of?
here is an ask where i talked about my titling process! the one i'm most proud of i think is 'and by resilient i mean which holds', which is a line i felt really suited the theme of the fic and is also from one of my favorite poems (linked here).
40 Write a 9-word fic.
Somehow, Mumbo and Grian slot together like puzzle pieces.
send me a writing ask!
#ask#anonymous#ask game answered#i'm answering these while afking an xp farm#i accidentally threw my beloved axe into lava :(((#that 9 word fic may become a full-length one#those nine words have actually been bouncing around in my head all day#ty for the ask ily

How to play:
Choose a “flavor” from the prompt sets below the cut, then paste it into this fandom bingo card generator.
Adjust your browser size til it looks right and take a screenshot, or use the html script if you’re familiar with using html on tumblr. Tag @sparktober if you want us to reblog it so everyone knows you’re playing!
Sparktober Bingo Rules:
Complete a row/column, corners, or a blackout of your card by November 1, or not! Update as you go.
All fan-works are allowed: art, edits, fic, meta... bonus points to anyone who picks the “sprinkles” flavor and goes full mid-aughts by filling their bingo cards with 100x100 pixel icons.
You are allowed to pull multiple cards until you get one that inspires you, and you can also go through the prompt list of your choice in advance to pull out squicks or things you absolutely won’t write. I recommend not googling unfamiliar words from your work computer.
Use the prompts liberally! Episode titles can be treated as the episode or as generic prompts (e.g. “Epiphany” can be for an episode-related fic or a prompt for an epiphany of your choice).

Hey ya’ll so this Ryland Storms Imagine was written less than a year ago with @alltimecalvinhood. We had planned to create an imagines book for Ryland on Wattpad but she unfortunately went MIA. I decided to post this imagine because it’s way too good to just have it saved away on a doc without being read, but full credits also go to @alltimecalvinhood alongside myself!
This was going to have a part 2 but I wouldn’t want to continue this without @alltimecalvinhood since it was our planned imagine, so I wouldn't want to take credit for something we both worked on!
Enjoy you guys❤️
-
You were sleeping when you felt your phone vibrate a couple times under your pillow. You smiled in your sleep knowing it was Ryland‘s good morning texts.
You slid your hand under your pillow trying to get your phone, your eyes still shut wishing you could be sleeping. Once your phone was disconnected you slowly opened your eyes, catching a glimpse of his messages.
Your heart fluttered as you saw his contact:
Ryland🥵🤩💦❤️❤️
You grinned knowing he missed you.
You opened them up.
Messages:
You smiled at how adorable he was. His whole “bad boy/player” image on tiktok and on the vlogs wasn’t accurate when it comes to you.
His whole act changes when he’s with you. You always tease him and call him a simp.
Like The Ryland Storms acting all soft, sending good morning texts, acting all desperate for attention. Who?
You and Ryland were exclusive but not official. At least not yet.
You both acted all lovey dovey with each other and weren’t afraid to show it. The fans loved it. You just never put a label on it.
Not that you guys didn’t want to have the “boyfriend & girlfriend” title, it’s just that you both are getting to flirtatiously know each other. You both were going with the flow, and it has been going great.
You chuckled at him calling you Shawty. Him trying to act all bad boy like, to impress you. You decided to play along with his name calling. You jokingly called him daddy.
You laughed and quickly got up. You headed to the restroom to brush your teeth and face.
You then walk to your closet and choose a simple outfit to go to the Hype House in.
Outfit:
Hair:
Makeup:
Once you were done you checked your phone and decided to look at twitter before you left to meet Ryland.
You were looking at tweets when you came across a fan edit of you and Ryland.
You smiled as you watched and retweeted it.
You then clicked on Ryland’s twitter and saw his most recent tweet.
You smiled at the thought of going to Australia with him. You checked the comments and what you saw made you feel some type of way.
It was a comment from Indiana Massara.
“What the fuck?” You whispered to yourself.
You didn’t want to overreact just yet but it seemed like she was trying to get at Ryland.
You checked her account and her latest tweet made you gasp angrily and laugh dryly.
How could she have the audacity to tweet that she wanted to travel to Australia with someone “special” right after Ryland tweets that he wants to go to Australia. It’s not a coincidence, especially since she commented on his tweet.
This got you pretty heated. You got your car keys and headed to the Hype House.
Car:
The whole car ride you were heated by the thought of Indiana making moves on Ryland. Everyone knows that you and him are exclusive, so why would she even cross those boundaries. You rolled your eyes and gripped on the steering wheel tightly.
After about a few minutes you pulled up to the Hype House. You pulled up to the driveway and parked next to Thomas’s new Tesla.
You walked in and saw Avani, Tony, and Ondreaz sitting in the living room.
They all turned when they heard the door open.
“Y/N!” They all said in unison with wide smiles, when they saw you.
“Hiii!” You say happily smiling at them but then it vanished.
“Why aren’t you running up to see your lover boy? I’m sure he’s waiting for you in his room.” Tony smiled at you from the couches.
You walked up to them and sat next to Tony. Avani and Ondre being on the other couch.
“Yeah for reals!” Avani laughed. “The first thing you do is go upstairs to see him. Why are you here?” She joked.
Ondreaz laughed causing them all to laugh.
“Woww. Thanks. I feel so welcomed.” You laughed. “It’s just that I saw some tweets and it just got me mad” You say.
Ondreaz furrowed his eyebrow. “What do you mean? You okay?” He says.
“Yeah I’m fine. It’s just annoying.” You huffed rolling your eyes.
“Well come on show us.” Tony nudged you.
You sighed and pulled up the tweets.
Avani and Ondre sat on the same couch as you and Tony to see them.
You showed them Ryland’s tweet about Australia.
“Okay and do you not want him going to Australia?” Ondreaz laughed.
“You’re dumb. Noo!” You laughed rolling your eyes.
“Ohhh. I see.” Avani says, noticing Indiana’s comment.
“What?” Tony and Ondreaz say immediately looking over at Avani. They both looked confused as can be.
You laughed at their faces.
“Look at the comments.” She sassily says rolling her eyes at them. “I swear boys are so dumb!” She says annoyed.
You laugh agreeing.
They both looked at her comment.
“Okay what if she’s just being friendly?” Tony asked looking at you.
You and Avani faced each other and gave each other a what the fuck face.
“Okay clearly you know nothing about how girls act.” Avani says sarcastically.
“Okay okay what he means is what if she was just commenting on a friend's tweet? Like it’s a possibility. But I get how you see it. You can also see her as trying to flirt with Ryland.” Ondreaz added.
“Yeah thank you! No need to be mean!” Tony said, feeling offended.
You smiled at him and gave him a hug.
You both laughed.
“I totally agree with you Ondre. At first I was like what the fuck, but I didn’t want to overreact. Yet. So I looked further into it.” You say.
“Notice how she says yet.” Tony laughed.
“Hahaha so funny!” You said sarcastically at him. “But look, there's more.” You say going into her account.
You showed them her tweet.
“It can’t just be a coincidence. Like it just can’t.” You say sighing.
“Yeahh that whole traveling to Australia with someone special kinda seems suspicious since it’s right after Ryland’s tweet.” Ondreaz realized.
“Yeah what the fuck. Like she comments on his tweet saying how she “coincidently” knows people there and then makes a tweet on her own claiming how she wants to go with someone special. That’s just a big no!” Avani said.
“Exactly! So I’m kind of just trippin about it. Like I know Ryland and I aren’t “boyfriend and girlfriend” but it’s still like what the fuck you know.” I sighed leaning into the couch, sadly.
“Aww come over here!” Tony said embracing you into his arms. He placed you on his chest.
“Yeah you guys aren’t ‘girlfriend and boyfriend’ but you guys are clearly a thing and clearly talking. Literally everyone fucking knows that. So she’s literally just chasing clout, and hoping to get some spotlight.” Avani spoke.
“Yeah honestly I lost my respect for her. She seemed cool like she’s come by the house a few times. But you’re our girl and it ain’t cool what she’s doing.” Ondre said.
Tony nodded.
“Have you talked to him?” Tony said, looking down at you laying your head on his chest.
“Noooo. Definitely not stalling here, talking to you guys.” You say looking down.
“Okay you gotta go. Just talk to him.” Ondreaz said.
“Ughhhh fine.” You say standing up from Tony’s embrace. Tony frowned looking at you.
You laughed. “We can cuddle later.” You giggle.
“That's if you’re not cuddling with Ryland.” He said crossing his arms.
“You’re dumb. He’s gonna beat you up if you take me away from him especially if we’re cuddling.” You say walking towards the stairs.
“You know what I’m gonna dm this girl and tell her to keep commenting and flirting with Ryland so you can be sad and talk to us more and so we can cuddle. I miss my best friend!” He obnoxiously said.
“Oh my god possessive much!” Avani laughed.
You laughed at them and reached the top of the stairs. You went towards the direction of Ryland’s room.
Upon reaching the door to his room, you take a deep breath composing yourself. You then knock on the door sternly, ready to get this over with.
The door opened immediately, revealing Ryland’s smiling face. He looked like a little kid in a candy shop, what a simp.
“Sup Shawtyyy” He says trying to play it cool, but you could see right through him. You couldn’t help but smirk at the name but you then gave him a small glare, knowing you had business to handle. So you walked past him into the room. “Baby, what is it?” He says, sounding concerned.
“I’m mad!” You say in a baby tone, crossing your arms looking down at the ground.
“What why? But first tell me why you took soooo long. I was gonna die of getting so anxious to see your pretty face!” He exaggeratedly says.
You chuckle. “Well I’ve been here for the past 30 minutes just talking to Avani, Tony, and Ondre.”
He gasps loudly. “So you’re telling me that for the past hour and a half you’ve been with clown girl, helicopter, and Tony Lopez’s brother??” He loudly says, pretending to be offended.
“You’re so meann.” You say slightly shoving him as you giggle.
“We could have already eaten breakfast together and cuddled as we watched Outer Banks or gone out for a swim.” He says shaking his head pretending to be mad.
“I’m sorry Ry but Indiana was flirting with you!” You blurt out out exasperated, whipping out the tweets on your phone. Ryland looks down at the phone in your hand and suddenly bursts out into laughter.
You pout at him and cross your arms, acting like a child,
“Babeeee, it’s not funnyyyyy.” You say looking up at him with puppy dog eyes and a frown. He stops laughing and looks at you with a look of fondness across his face. He places a hand on your shoulder in a reassuring way and comes closer.
“Shawty, you’re adorable when you act all jealous.” He says and places a finger under your chin, tilting your head up to look into his eyes. You feel butterflies filling your stomach at the words, but stand your ground.
“Are you going to go to Australia with her? Huh?” You say grumpily with a raised eyebrow, wanting to know what his answer would be. And he laughs once again.
“Y/N I wouldn’t go to Australia with anyone else in the world but you.” Your heart melts and you look at him waiting for him to say more. “I didn’t even respond to her tweet because you’re the only girl I want.” You smile widely at him and jump into his arms.
“Aww baby!” You say giving him a soft look. “That’s so sweet!” You say and give him a kiss on the cheek. He gives you a devilish grin and throws you on the bed. He stands towering above you.
“Now will the only girl in the world do me the honor of being my official, one and only...shawty.” He begins the sentence off serious, but he cracks a grin at the end. You can’t help but roll your eyes at his goofiness. You get on your knees on the bed so that you’re the same height as Ryland’s chest.
“Hmm...I don’t know.” You pause acting like you’re thinking. “Will you take me to Australia?” You joke with him.
He scoffs, “Already got the plane tickets booked.” He says back, jokingly. You throw your arms around his waist. In a swift movement you were on top of him as he was beneath you on the bed.
“Then yes. I will do you the honor of being your one and only shawty.” You smile warmly as you hang on tightly to him. Your hands wrapped around his neck and your face inches away from his. His hands placed on your hips.
“Perfect.” He whispers as he warmly looks into your eyes. He then trails them down to your lips. He smiles up at you and slowly places his lips on yours.
You closed your eyes, savoring the moment. Both lips were in sync. Both lips fit perfectly as if they were meant for one another. You both slowly pulled away from the kiss and intimately looked into each others eyes, like there was no other,
Ryland slowly sat up on the bed causing you to be on top of his lap. He took your legs and wrapped them around him. He put his arms around your lower back and pushed you closer to him, causing your inner thighs to be as close as possible to his body.
You smirked at his dirty actions and laughed, shaking your head.
He smirked back at you and smashed his lips onto yours. Before the kiss can turn into a makeout session you laugh into the kiss and he starts tickling you making you squirm out of his lap and onto the bed. He takes advantage of that and quickly hops on top of you, keeping you captured underneath him.
“Now let’s talk about those kisses.” He said referring to your texts from earlier.
“NOOO!” You giggle trying to get out from under him.
“You can’t escape me and my kisses.” He says pucking out his lips.
“HELPPP!” You yell out laughing.
“No ones gonna help you. The doors locked!” He devilshy said looking down at you.
“Nooo.” You yell loudly closing your eyes. You then hit his arms trying to get out from under him.
He then smirked, getting an idea in his head.
“I know how to fix this behavior!” He says seductively. He lifted one of his arms from towering over you and slowly pulled down the zipper from your Zappa jacket. Exposing your small shirt that tightly held your breasts together.
He threw the jacket at the door and his eyes lit up, looking at your boobs. He licked his lips at the sight of them from under the tight small shirt. He soon came out of his trance and went back to his plan.
He dove his head into the side of your neck and you gasped at the exhilarating feeling of his lips sucking on your neck.
“Fuckkk Ryland.” You moaned quietly. Your hips moving up to his body, wrapping your legs around his waist coming into contact with his hard bulge.
You decided to cause some friction with the two of you. You rubbed on his hard member with your wet one.
You felt Ryland stiffen up and hold in his breath. You continuously swifted your hips to his member wanting him to show the pleasure you’ve caused him. Two can play at that game.
He gave up and let out a loud moan and immediately put his hands to your hips directing the pace of your actions.
You both moaned out as the pleasure immensed with Ryland taking control and fastening your hip movements. He added onto the pleasure as he rode through the fabric. You closed your eyes and let your head fall to the bed. You pulled his curly hair not wanting to let out any more moans. You didn’t want anyone hearing you two.
“Okay okay.” You whispered, putting your hand on his chest, insinuating for him to stop. He slowly stopped and you both caught your breath.
“Fuck that was amazing!” You say pecking his lips.
“Damn this was only dry humping. And yet it was so great. I can’t imagine what it’s like to actually have sex with you.” He says looking down into your eyes.
You smiled blushing at him.
“I didn’t wanna stop but I don’t wanna rush things.” You say.
“No I totally get it. Officially getting together and having sex within the same time is a little crazy.” He laughs.
You giggle and nod.
“It’ll be so worth it. But breakfast?” You ask him as your eyes lit up with the thought of food.
“It will be as long as you don't make me wait till marriage.” He says curiosity roaming in his head.
You laugh. “I wouldn’t be able to stand that long of a wait. And plus you’re horny alllll the time.” You say laughing.
“You wanted breakfast right?” He says trying to change the subject and trying not to laugh at his hornyness.
“No no. We’re not changing the subject.” You laugh hitting him. “You literally posted a tiktok saying you were horny.”
“Okayy Okayy! Maybe sometimes.” He says not making eye contact.
“Literally all the time!” You say pushing him.
He laughs knowing you were right, showing his perfect top row of white teeth.
“Whatever. But now I get to satisfy my hornyness with you.” He says placing a kiss on your lips.
“Oh does that mean imma be booty called everyday?” You say with a stern look on your face.
“Oh don’t even act like you don’t feel the same way. I know you want me.” He says confidently as he looks you up and down.
“Crepes?” You say smiling.
“Oh look who’s changing the subject now with breakfast!” He says with an eyebrow raised.

Good boy | KNJ drabble
+Pairing: Namjoon x Reader(gender neutral)
+Rating: 18+
+WC: 1.5k
+Warning: NSFW, Sub!Joon, Dom!reader, Gender neutral reader, unresolved sexual tension, sex toys, unfinished, like it cuts off pretty abruptly.
+A/N: I found this in my google docs and i knew that if i didn’t post it right now i never would. So here it is. I might reuse it in a fic someday. Sorry for the abrupt cut :P unbetaed so don’t look too hard pls thank you.
also this is the title past me gave the doc which made present me lol
+
You’re both laughing and giggling as you go up to Namjoon’s dorm room, trying not to trip on your feet as you run up the stairs, taking them two by two. The A/C is quickly becoming a problem, your skin breaking out in goosebumps as the wet clothes you’re both wearing go from being wet, to uncomfortably wet and cold.
The car wash had been a success, raising enough funds for your team project in a single afternoon, and then it’d seemed like a good idea to celebrate by drenching everyone with the water hose. The lack of towel had quickly made itself noticeable, forcing everyone to disperse and find a way to dry themselves off. For you and Namjoon, it was pretty clear your destination would be his dorm room. It was closer than yours, and Namjoon has a nice collection of plush and soft towels, courtesy of his mom.
You’re almost sad when you make it to the door, disappointed that you’ll lose the sight of Namjoon’s clothes completely plastered to his body, leaving not one inch to the imagination. He has an impressive body, one that’s been making heads turn for the last few months, ever since he started working out with Jungkook. You’d love his body whatever shape it may be, but the definition he has gained in his chest, and arms, and especially his thighs, is definitely a sight to behold. The way the muscles work as he walks, runs, squats, or kneels… You’ve found yourself staring at them more and more these days. And the short shorts he has on right now, stopping at his mid-thighs, letting just a hint of his thigh tattoo peek out, it’s definitely not leaving you indifferent.
The moment you step into the dorm, you hang back behind to watch him undress, a familiar sensation tickling up your spin at the sight of your lover taking off his shirt, leaving him clad in his godforsaken shorts and glistening sun-kissed skin. Just as he digs his thumbs in his waistband, you snap out of the trance you were falling into.
“Stop.” You say simply, catching his attention and halting his undressing process.
You have nowhere to be in the immediate moment, no one waiting for you, nothing pressing to finish or study for. You’ve spent all afternoon being teased by the sight of your sub parading around with his amazing body basically on display, looking worthy of being in a pin-up magazine with his wet white t-shirt and his terrible, terribly short red shorts.
He recognizes the look in your eyes, wetting his lips with a quick drag his tongue as the air in the room turns heavier, warming up.
He shifts his body towards you, be it consciously or unconsciously, and you take yet another moment to admire his amazing physic, wondering who you saved in your past life to have a boyfriend like Namjoon, who likes to let you tie him up and wreck him just right.
“How do you want me?” He asks, voice going slightly lower than usual as arousal probably grows in the pit of his stomach.
He’s so beautiful, so responsive to your will, so perfect in every way. You want to kiss every inch of his gorgeous face, bite every bit of his lips, and leave traces all over his body. You want to mark up his chest and strong hips and thighs and calves and ankles. You want to hear him whine and moan, you want to make him whine and moan.
“Get on the bed.” You answer simply, taking your sweet time to walk to his dresser, eyes never leaving him as he complies with your demand. You enjoy the sight of his muscles bulging as he positions himself in the middle of the bed, sitting on his heels with his hands on his thighs, waiting for more orders like the good boy he is. His shorts are still soaked, but he doesn’t seem to mind that they’ll dampen his sheets; they probably won’t be dry after you’re done with him anyway, wet shorts or not. Your playtimes tend to get messy.
You get what you need from the second drawer, hidden in the back behind his graphic tee, where he keeps his stash of goodies. There’s everything you need for improvised scenes in there, but for the more complicated stuff, scenes that demand a level of preparation, you usually go to yours. Living out of campus has its perks, like decently thick walls that won’t expose your activity to the whole building.
“Are you going to need help to keep quiet?” You ask as an afterthought, eyeing the little gold satin bag containing his favorite ballgag. “You have to keep quiet or else your neighbor will glare at me, again.”
This seems to confuse Namjoon for a second, head tilting as if trying to answer a math problem. “Jimin? I don’t know why he would do that, it’s not like we’re the only one fucking here.”
You decide against it, a part of you loving how mad it drives your boyfriend’s neighbor to hear you pleasure Namjoon. In some twisted way, it’s like you’re letting him know how good you’re taking care of him, and how nonexistent his chances are at seducing your boyfriend.
“Oh baby, he’s not bothered by the noise, he’s jealous he’s not the one pulling them out of you.” You purr, closing the drawer with an elbow.
You feel a rebuttal coming, and you quickly drop the content of your hands on the mattress to push a finger against Namjoon’s plush lips, silencing his doubts.
“You might not have noticed, but I see the way he looks at you, and it’s definitely not in a friendly manner.” You shush him, possessiveness bubbling in your stomach.
There’s a fine blush appearing on Namjoon’s cheeks, which makes you want to coo. But you can’t wait to extend this flush all over his body, so you don’t waste any more time.
“Lay on your back, hands by your head, leg spread.” You order, moving away to leave him the space he needs to assume his new position. He executes quickly, his eagerness making you bite back a smile, and you take a moment to admire his long body laid out in front of you, twitching and begging to be touched. Namjoon trusts you to take care of him, and you always make sure to leave him satisfied.
“What’s your safe word, baby boy?” You inquire, voice soft but commanding in the rising tension of the room.
“Crab.” He states, his beautiful eyes meeting yours, twinkling with anticipation. You can see the rise and fall of his chest has gotten quicker, a tent in his shorts already noticeable. He’s probably the most responsive sub you’ve ever met (in your admittedly very short career, but still), always ready to go at a moment’s notice. Once he told you it was because of you, that he had never had this kind of response to anyone else before. You remember making him come many times that night, as a treat.
You start by leaning over him, sealing your lips to his in a tender kiss to which he responds with a low whine, frustrated by the torturous pace you set. You take your fill of his lips, sucking and biting, earning yourself all sort of cute noises.
“Your hands stay exactly where they are, understood?” You say as you break the kiss, grinning at the way he chases after you. You press him back down with one hand to his chest, a chastising look in your eyes.
“Yes.” He nods eagerly, relaxing his body to lay perfectly still.
You reward him by pressing a kiss to his jaw, then following the line of his neck to his gorgeous collarbone. You gently dig in your teeth in the taut skin, not hard enough to leave a mark yet, just enough for Namjoon to feel it. You hear a sharp intake of air, and you soothe the skin with your tongue, enjoying the slightly salty tang from a day spent working in the sun.
You carry on with your ministration, trailing down his torso until you get to a nipple, the peak hardened and looking biteable. You waste no second diving in, kissing and teasing with your teeth the darker skin, swirling your tongue around the peak, pulling from Namjoon some delicious moans. He loves having his nipple played with, always gets whiny from the attention.
You reach for the first toy; a set of fancy nipple clamps.
You secure the first clamp on the one you just spent a good minute abusing, then you pinch the second one, getting it nice and puffy. You can see how tense Namjoon is, straining to stay still, how his back wants to arch off the bed;
But he doesn’t, because he’s a good boy.

Title: Get Well Soon, Gumball
Words: 1698
Warnings: a bit of swearing, some self-esteem/body issues mentioned
Relationships: Glacier, background Plasma
“Are you sure you should be training today Cole? You don’t look so good,” Jay said hesitantly, looking over at his friend concerned for his health.
“Yeah dude, you look rough. I’m surprised Zane even let you get out of bed,” Kai chimed in, narrowly avoiding a hard blow to the head from the automated training dummy.
“Don’t say my name too loud guys, he didn’t,” Cole croaked, “I just can’t afford to take a day off.”
“What?” Kai exclaimed, purposefully being as loud as he could to try to draw Zane’s attention from inside the monastery. This time, however, he wasn’t as lucky in regards to dodging the dummy while also attempting to look after his best friend, letting it land a well-placed blow to his ribs. “Fucking hell, ow,” He groaned from his new position on the dusty ground, splaying out his arms in legs, letting out loud, long, laboured breaths as he attempted to lessen the pain.
“Oh my God, firefly are you ok?” Jay said, abandoning his kendo helmet and Shinai on the ground as he rushed over to his boyfriend to help him up. Cole walked over too, though with a lot less urgency, not even taking off his helmet or dropping his own Shinai.
“Ok you definitely need to get back in bed,” Kai said through laboured breaths to Cole, taking Jay’s hand and hoisting himself up with a wince as his side stabbed with pain “You didn’t even drop your Shinai. I’ve known you for years and even if you’re feeling rough you’re always one of the first to help us if one of us falls. You’re not well.”
“I heard shouting, is everything ok?” Zane called, walking out into the yard to the sight of Jay fussing over Kai and Cole stood, fully geared out and standing shakily, looking as if he wasn’t 100% sure where he was.
“You’re boyfriends being a little shit,” Jay said, looking over at Zane as he practically dragged Kai away from the yard and towards Nya and Pixal’s workshop to get some kind of medical help for his extremely bruised and possibly broken ribs.
“Yeah Z, he is not ok. You need to sort him out and get him in bed,” Kai wheezed, hobbling slightly.
“Kai shut up before you do yourself anymore damage. This dumbass probably just broke a few ribs and he still has the nerve to lecture Cole about being out of bed. I hope he feels better soon, I’ll come and see him after I’ve dumped him on Nya and Pix,” Jay said, beginning to attempt to drag Kai away.
“You know you love me really,” Kai coyly remarked, stilling wheezing slightly. Jay didn’t respond, but Zane could tell he rolled his eyes.
Zane panned his eyes over to his own sick boyfriend, who was still standing, fully kitted out in his Kendo training gear. Even his shinai was hanging loosely from his large hands. He looked genuinely awful, worse than he had that morning in fact.
“Before you say anything, I feel fine,” Cole croaked, letting out a long sniff afterwards.
“Cole Hence Brookstone I told you to stay in bed,” Zane said sternly, looking over at the quivering mess of a boyfriend who was currently stood in front of him.
“I know but-”
“No buts, you’re coming with me right now.”
Cole knew better than to continue to protest; in situations like this, Zane usually got his way. Whether or not it was rightly so was down to interpretation. He shuffled through the blurred hallways, not 100% sure where he was going. He knew a bed of some kind would be involved but the question of whose bed was a largely unanswered one considering his brain was 300% more concentrated on keeping him upright and at least semi-conscious. The room he was led into was dark; too dark to be Zane’s and it wouldn’t be Kai, Jay, Lloyd or Nya’s because that’d be weird. Even he was conscious enough to know it was his room.
“Here, I’ll sort out your gear and stuff just try to relax,” Zane spoke softly, taking the kendo helmet off and placing it to the side, doing the same with the rest of his gear and gi. He then began sifting through Cole’s wardrobe, pulling out a hoodie and sweatpants to change into. Only then did he let him back into bed. Cole frowned and looked up at Zane from his place in bed.
“Get in with me. I need my teddy bear,” Cole groaned, his voice gravelly and even deeper than usual. Zane smiled.
“Ok, just give me a second to change. I doubt I’ll be leaving here for a while so there’s no point in being in my gi,” He said, walking over to Cole’s wardrobe again and pulling out a t-shirt and shorts, quickly changing and climbing into bed with him, any thought of training for at least that day discarded. Cole quickly readjusted himself, scooching over onto Zane, wrapping his arms and legs around him, resting his head on his chest for warmth.
“Why’d you get out of bed? I told you I’d be back with tea soon.” Zane said softly, running Cole’s hair through his fingers, twirling strands around and watching as the light reflected off it, showing at least another 10 hues shining through. The deep blues, browns and midnight blacks mingled and danced with the golden light streaming in through the curtains. It was beautiful. He was beautiful. Even if he didn’t always think so. Zane would always be there to remind him that he was.
“I can’t afford a day off,” Cole said hoarsely, “I’m already not as thin as you guys, the more days I take off the worse it’ll get.” Zane furrowed his brow and thought for a moment, trying to fully process what Cole had just said.
“Are you… saying what I think you’re saying? Because if you are, I’m going to have to take evasive measures,” Zane said matter of factly. If Cole really did think him being bigger was a bad thing, there would have to be action taken.
“What? You know it’s true. If I stop working out I’ll just get fatter, I can’t take a day off,” He croaked sadly, biting his lip. His head was spinning but he couldn’t just lay in bed all day; he had to do something. He had to at least get a few reps in.
“Hmmm,” Zane hummed, “It’s worse than I thought. Cole, it seems you are suffering from a serious case of negative body image. There’s only one known cure,” Cole laughed a little and played along.
“What is it, doc?”
“500 kisses and a whole day in bed of cuddles,” Zane replied stoically.
“Oh well then, someone who spent 2 hours downloading every episode of greys anatomy must know what they’re talking about,” Cole replied sarcastically, a goofy smile playing on his lips.
“Exactly, and I know you’re being sarcastic so I see I’m going to have to crank it up to 700 kisses.”
“Oh no! How terrible!” Cole gasped, still being sarcastic, however, it backfired as he began to cough aggressively.
“That’s what you get for being an asshole, I’m also cranking your prescription up to 1000 kisses but seeing as this might go on for a while, I’m capping it at that,” Zane said with a chuckled, rubbing his hand up and down Cole’s back slowly, just waiting for Cole to say the word so he could administer the treatment.
“You know me too well,” Cole laughed weakly, propping himself up on his chin which admittedly was uncomfortable but he was willing to endure so he could look at Zane’s beautiful face, “So doc, when’s the treatment starting?”
“How… about… now!” Zane exclaimed, beginning to pepper kisses all over Cole’s head and face, making Cole laugh hoarsely.
Zane pushed Cole off of him, pinning his arms down and kissing all up his arms and onto his hands and fingers, before moving to his torso and making sure every square inch was covered in his love. Eventually, he made his way back up to Cole’s face, making sure every little bit of his neck was covered as well, in some places even leaving small red marks behind. Whether or not they were unintentional, Zane would never tell. The final kiss was placed on Cole’s lips, making sure to press extra hard to accentuate his point.
“Wow, Z, you’re meticulous I’ll give you that,” Cole said through laughs shaking his head at the nindroid currently sat on his lap. His hands sat on his waist comfortably, a true testament to how much they really were meant to be. It was almost as if the sweet tin can sat on top of him was made for him.
“Why thank you. Are you cured?”
“If I say no, do I get more kisses?” Cole said coyly with a smirk, massaging circles into Zane’s waist with his thumbs.
“Depends. If you’re good and get in bed properly and don’t leave until your better, then most assuredly,” Zane said matter of factly, his own hands idly drifting over Cole’s torso. If he could see inside his mind for just a moment, Zane was sure he’d see himself the way he saw him. He was the perfect size for hugs and cuddles, and his larger stature just meant all the more Cole to hold and love. It also meant he could pick him up which, in their 2 years of dating, Zane was sure he’d never find it the most amazing and adorable thing ever.
“Oh well then, it’s settled,” Cole said quickly, moving Zane off of him and getting under the covers, quickly snuggling back into his chest. He could hear all the mechanical parts inside him buzzing and whirring, turning and pumping, keeping Zane alive. There was something comforting about the soft noises that emitted from his boyfriend that just radiated comfort. The mechanical buzz was a grounding constant. Always there, always around, always keeping him sane.
Zane smiled and wrapped his arm around Cole, holding him close.
“Get well soon, gumball.”

mac pls rant to me about alucard like literally talk about anything relating to him idc he just lives in my mind rent free already and I want to hear ur thots 🥺🥺 and u know how much I love ur writing like only u can make me simp over a character i've never heard about until after reading ur series
in this house we all simp over alucard 😌 but tyy i always have so many thoughts omg like i woke up after four hrs of sleep and this fucking show was the first thing on my mind snksndsk anyway imma talk abt the series bc i feel like it sorta came outta nowhere and i dont wanna bore the masses with my thoughts on character design or like animation style (not yet at least hehehe)
okay first of all the fact sm of u guys r reading this without knowing anything about him or the show or anything is so sweet like y’all really sticking through it for me..i appreciate it endlessly. this ranting might also be kinda helpful and idk i like hearing writers thoughts behind their work so i hope y’all do to
the title comes from farouq jwaydeh i found it on that twitter thread about arabic love poems that went around a few months ago. i actually wasn’t planning on naming the series that but the doc where i was working on each part had the quote “and if the devil was to ever see you, he’d kiss your eyes and repent” in it because i was planning on writing smth for alucard based of that and the more i thought about it, the more i realized how well it worked for the series. its so romantic and so devoted which is the type of relationship i do be writing and it also works within a lot of the religious themes of the show. if i could write that well it lowkey sounds like smth alucard would say akhfsk
and speaking of alucard, ik the fact he has two names might be a bit confusing especially with how i formatted bluebelle (whoops) but the characters name is adrian tepes but he goes by alucard for Reasons i wont spoiler lmao. aches & arches does do a decent job explaining y i choose to call him adrian instead, but in the future if i do write stuff outside this series for him there is definitely a chance he’d be called alucard it just really depends on context. i just think there is something very personal and intimate that the reader is very serious about the fact he isn’t a figure for the masses or only tied to his father. hes his own person who they love and they deserve to be called a name that is their own not a moniker given to them y’know? also the fact i dont think anyone actually calls him adrian in the show makes me sad like noo baby ur so much more than what ur father and Humanity has made u out to be ahaha
idk if i have mentioned this anywhere yet but this is also the first series ive ever written in like my....4? 5? years writing on tumblr (ew i dont wanna think about how long ive been doing this) but thats kind of a big deal. i’m a bit :/ with myself for how much stuff i tried to add to bluebelle because i really didnt think i was gonna write anything else for him so it feels a bit cramped in terms of themes in comparison to the other parts. i feel like it does stick out a little within the series considering some of those themes havent been explored again but ehh i’m complaining about something i can change so whelp. guess it means i gotta write more
although i must admit i’m probably not gonna write a wedding and i’m sorry if u guys wanted one i just...can’t Bring myself to write a christian wedding even tho i’m pretty sure alucard is atheist? or at least not catholic lmao and i would rather write a hindu wedding bc its better (noah fence) and i think the ideas? or meanings around hindu wedding ceremonies make sense for this but i dont wanna be alienating so.yeah. that also feels like i gotta start writing a plot and i would rather Not do that i’m fine with mindlessly fluff for now. idk if anyone can tell but i’m avoiding the whole vampire and human relationship convo bc i havent figured out my thoughts on it and i dont wanna deal. let adrian live in a soft fantasy world with no bad things okay thanks thats all .
#anytime i think about figuring out if he’d turn the reader it gets angsty#and i’m like nah no thanks lets have them lay in bed together instead 😇#mac rambles#ask#writing#adrian tepes x reader

Word Count: 3700+
Masterlist
They say that nothing compares to the wrath of a woman scorned.
Well, they hadn't met Y/n yet.
"Are you INSANE?"
Leonard "Bones" McCoy was a great doctor, and had long since been an even better friend to recently made Captain James T Kirk of the Enterprise. With all the titles and fancy stuff aside, Bones knew a thing or two about fear. He had watched everything taken from him when his wife, many years, divorced him and drained him of every penny she could. He had faced a threat from the future most recently who's goal was to wipe the solar system of any species other than his own. He had watched his long time friend almost die. A lot. Like, A LOT. So many times it wasn't even funny and he had almost strangled the man himself when everything settled again. He had faced death himself once or twice though and in the end everyone was safe so he let it be. The point was, he had faced and conquered fear. He should be able to handle it.
Watching Y/n storm up to him filled him with more fear than he had faced looking at even Death itself.
Y/n was stern faced and tense. "Hey there," Bones greeted, ready to get lectured.
Instead of yelling, Y/n did something Bones didn't expect. He took Bones in his arms, hugging him desperately. Bones felt his surprise fade and embarrassment take over. Not because he was one of those people who didn't believe in affection between friends or men, but because he had a gigantic crush on Y/n and the feeling of the man holding him made him feel like a teenager again. He was an idiot, honestly. Good god man, he was a grown adult!
Yet, when Y/n held him at arm's length, Bones was blushing. "You didn't even call me when you got back. I had to hear about your little adventure from the news! From Jim of all people!"
Bones flinched. He had been busy since he'd gotten back. It had only been a few days and there had been so much going on... He didn't think it would have upset Y/n this much. The men were friends, having met a while back through Bones' now ex wife actually. Before he was married to her, Y/n had been a friend of a friend to her. When they'd gotten divorced, Y/n was there for him. Ever since they'd stayed friends, but as time passed Bones has recognized his feelings for Y/n had been... different. Especially when he became friends with Jim, he realized that how he felt wasn't normal for two close friends. He'd never had the confidence to take a shot and as Y/n tried his hand with other women, Bones wrote it off and assumed his chanced were kaput.
The look in Y/n's eyes right now though spoke of panic. Care much more than just one friend to another. It was moments like this that let Bones dream. He tried to put his own feelings down. Y/n didn't have a lot of friends or family. Bones was one of the few people he still had left after a hard life that had left him almost entirely alone. Of course he'd be worried about losing one of those people.
"I'm sorry," he sighed. "It's just been super busy-"
Y/n scoffed and rolled his eyes, cutting the other man off. "I hear you're allowed calls every once in a while." Bones gave him a confused look. "On the Enterprise, Bones! Come on- you're going back out there and if you're not going to tell me shit, then I'm going to demand you set up a call system so that every time you land you have me on the line dialing. I want it to be habit, do you understand?"
Bones couldn't hold back a smile. He tried to play it off as teasing, but his whole body felt warmer. "Oh come on, I'll be fine." His voice was soft.
"You better be." Y/n sighed, seeming to have calmed down. "Look, I just- I get it. Just let me know you're okay next time before I hear the news and go full panic mode, okay?"
Scoffing softly, Bones offered a, "Okay, mom."
Y/n smiled and the world got a little brighter. "You're an idiot." Then he turned and began to walk away. Bones watched, his smile coming in full steam now that he was alone.
Except... he wasn't. It was that second he remembered that there were other people in the Med Bay at that moment. Nurses mostly, but patients too. Every single pair of eyes was staring at him. All of them were amused and accusing. Knowing. Playful. He hardened immediately, scowling back at them. "Okay show's over, get back to work." He turned away and everyone smiled.
Idiots indeed.
-
"Are you insane?" This time it came from Bones and Y/n was on the receiving end.
Y/n wasn't going to take the lecture like Bones had though. "If you're going to be facing death all the damn time, I might as well be here to watch your back. I can't stand staying at home while y-" he cut off, stalling a second as his brain realigned. "As my two closest friends set off into the great space and throw their lives around like they mean nothing!"
Bones grunted in frustration. "Y/n, you're working as a mechanic."
"A damn good one too!" Y/n threw back. "I'm the King of repairs, and it seems you guys need someone like that on deck. You have the greatest captain, the best second in command-"
"A stretch," Bones grumbled.
"Amazing pilots and a mechanical genius who advanced beaming an insane amount. But even geniuses need help, and while he's a great mind, I'm great with my hands." Y/n rose said appendages, wiggling his fingers. "Plus it doesn't matter. Scotty was more than happy to have me on board and pushed for it himself. Went straight tot he Captain and everything. Jim was more than happy to have me aboard. That's it. I'm coming and you can't stop me."
A long, soft sigh escaped Bones then. "Fine, but if you get ANY injuries, you come to me directly do you understand? This stuff is dangerous."
Just then Y/n got a huge, shit eating grin on his face. "I was planning to, Doctor." Something about how he looked when he said it made Bones both nervous and excited. When they parted ways, Bones tried to not let the moment of seclusion allow his mind to wander too much.
-
"I just burned my hand," Y/n huffed impatiently. "Scotty needs me back, Bones. Just bandage it or something."
Bones tugged Y/n's hand closer by the wrist, glaring at him. "You're being too careless! My god Y/n sit still! You're whinier than Jim." That got Y/n to be quiet. Which in turn made Bones struggle not to laugh. After all, who would want to be compared to Jim Kirk in whininess? Even though he really didn't complain all that often, Y/n and Bones had a running joke that he was secretly a nine year old girl. Simply because it bothered him.
In the moment of silence, Y/n got the opportunity to really look at Bones. He watched quietly as Bones carefully applied an oily cream that made the stinging pain go away. It was soothing and cold; a huge relief. The lapse of pain allowed him to take a second to admire the features of the man tending to him. The smile lines that were hidden because he liked to be grumpy and sassy, but which showed every time he even cracked the tiniest of smiles or smirks. The deep color of his brown eyes and how the concentrated with unbreakable focus. The line of his jaw, hard as his teeth locked together. He had a small scar above his left eyebrow. It was something he'd never seen before. Perhaps he'd gotten it more recently... The curve of his nose drew his eyes straight to his lips.
Only then did Bones finish, of course, and as he looked over Y/n tried to look casual and as if he hadn't been checking Bones out. Which he most definitely had been. "Will that be all, Doc?"
Rolling his eyes, Bones let Y/n's hand fall. "For now. Be more careful."
Y/n hopped down from the bed, grinning widely. "But then what excuse would I have to visit you?" He laughed afterward to play it off as a joke, but there was a false tone to it. A truth in his words overcame the chuckle, so Y/n headed out quickly. Unfortunately it left a rather speechless Bones alone before he could come up with something to reply, and a bunch of smirking nurses all looking at each other with looks that spelled trouble.
-
When Y/n came in limping, Bones thought it would be for something more real than tripping and falling down stairs. The injury had seemed legitimate until only a few hours later Y/n was spick and span- even though Bones hadn't done more than ice it for ten minutes.
When Y/n had come holding his arm and wincing every time someone touched it, Bones was there dutifully even though it was only from slamming it in a door. He wrapped it up and gave Y/n something to help the healing and pain. In a few days he was perfectly fine, even though Bones had expected a few weeks of soreness at the very least.
It got only more ridiculous from there. From smashed fingers and headaches and sore throats and itchy eyes and sore muscles, Y/n was coming into the Med Bay for help from Bones once every few days. It was a record. Even when there was nothing going on, Y/n found increasingly creative ways to get hurt and end up needing some kind of help and attention. Bones took the opportunity with only minimal griping about Y/n's carelessness. To be fair, he was probably trying very hard to enjoy Y/n's company rather than focus on the fact that Y/n was rarely if ever sick and had a habit of being very careful. In severe situations, he was always the one with the least amount of damage. It seemed that he was prone for small accidents and that his luck magically returned every time it counted. Not that anyone was complaining, but it was rather odd.
Or, more fittingly, obvious. Everyone but Bones was seeing right through Y/n. One day the nurses finally decided to intervene.
Nurse Avery began the casual prodding. "I'm sorry that Dr. McCoy wasn't available to help you today."
"It's fine," Y/n dismissed, even though he was obviously very disappointed.
Avery nodded. "You two seem to be very close," she continued. This time her overly casual tone was overlapped with a pointed look, but both only made Y/n confused.
"Well, we've been friends for years. Even before he and Jim were," Y/n offered.
The nurse nodded her head, but her smirk said that she knew something. Or had assumed something. Or that what Y/n had said fed some sort of theory maybe? Y/n wasn't sure. "And how many years have you been clumsy?"
That made Y/n nervous. It was an odd question to ask, unless they knew the real reason he was in here so often. But surely that wasn't possible. "What do you mean?"
"You know exactly what she means," Another nurse, Simon, teased. He rolled his eyes, an amused smile curving his parted lips. "If your blush had anything to say."
Nurse Amy giggled. They were both doing other things but it seemed their attention was on the conversation. Even Nurse Lyro spoke to them now as they treated a patient. "We never see you in here after a big battle. And we all know that you're one of very few that is careful enough not to get hurt during catastrophes, which is odd since you're normally in the middle of it and not hiding like the others."
Y/n's frown wiped the smiles off their faces. "It's because I'm a coward." The nurses exchanged looks with each other. They hadn't meant to upset him. "Are you done?" He looked up at Avery. "With my hand?"
"Yeah," she answered softly. Her own fingers had stilled, resting on top of and below his hand. It had been mostly to keep him in place, but now she let it drop. "Do you-?"
"Thank you for your help." Y/n stood off the table, offering the girl a small smile before leaving the Med Bay. Looks were exchanged between the nurses again.
What had that been about?
-
"Dr. McCoy?" Bones looked over to see Nurse Lyro. They continued when he looked over, giving them his attention. "Have you seen Y/n recently?"
Bones pursed his lips in a frown. "I haven't. Why?"
Lyro shrugged. "Well Avery tended his hand a few weeks ago and we haven't seen him in the Med Bay since, not even for a check up."
It had been three and a half weeks to be precise, and Bones was worried. After seeing Y/n every three or four days, Bones had come into a routine of leaving a looseness in his schedule that would allow him time to tend Y/n. Only a few times did something unpredictable interfere with it which is when the nurses usually took over like last time. But in the last almost month, Y/n hadn't been by even once. Bones saw him occasionally outside of work, but otherwise Y/n made him scarce and the doctor would be lying if he said he didn't miss his friend.
"I'll have to hunt him down once I'm off my shift and make sure he's taking care of himself." Bones gave a short laugh then. "He's probably focused on some project or something. We'll have him back in here in a bit."
Lyro grabbed Bones' shoulder to stop him from leaving. "Last time he was here, we were talking and he said something about being a coward. It seemed to upset him..." They sighed. "I just wanted to make sure our conversation wasn't what upset him."
That seemed to confuse Bones. "A coward?" Lyro shrugged. "Huh. Okay." They shared nods and then parted ways. Right when Bones' shift left, he headed straight for Y/n's room. He knocked on the door a few times before Y/n answered. When he did, the man seemed to be battling between happiness and hurt. It didn't make sense. "Hey Y/n."
"Hi." Y/n leaned against his door. "Do you... want to come in?"
"Sure yeah I'd like that." Y/n moved to open his door more and Bones came inside. When the door closed, Bones turned back so they faced each other. "The nurses wanted me to check on your burn. You haven't been by in a while."
Y/n showed his hand. It looked fine, if only minorly scarred. "It healed nicely. Everyone in the Med Bay is pretty great. It's awesome."
Bones nodded. "I'm glad to hear."
There was a long silence. "Is that all you wanted to say?"
"Why did you say you were a coward?" It sort of slipped out, far from graceful. "You're always right there by Jim and Spock. You've even stepped in a few times for me, and no matter how crazy something is, you're always willing to do it if it saves someone. How could you think you're a coward?"
Y/n sighed, rubbing his eyes. "Jim is the brave one. He's always risking himself and protecting everyone. He's got all of our backs and cares a lot about what's right. Then there's Spock, and despite how much he tries to seem emotionless so he can appear in control, it's only because he's so smart that he hasn't gotten himself killed from how much he puts himself on the line to protect others. And you... Well, they'd both be super dead without you. Not just how great of a doctor you are either, but because you balance Jim's recklessness and Spock's focus on what's logical and such. You guys are like this unbreakable triangle of perfection where you all watch each other's back and without even one of you the other two would fail. I just... hide behind it. I do what I'm told and hide when I can. Do you know how many times each of your has stepped in when I was too scared to do it? How many times you guys have almost died because I hesitated or sat back or stopped functioning because I'm terrible in high stress situations? Scotty is the one who does all the important stuff. I just help him when he needs me to.He could probably do it without me, honestly. I just feel like the extra piece of an already completed puzzle."
It all came out soft and empty. Defeated. Bones rolled his eyes- he wasn't having any of this. "Do you know how many times Scotty has praised Jim for adding you to his team? You know a lot more about mechanics than he does, even though he's really smart about it. I've CAUGHT him just hitting things to get them to work. You might take more time and effort, but when you fix something it lasts longer than when Scotty does- even though he is better in a high stress situation or whatever." Bones scoffed. "If we're being real, no one is actually GOOD in those situations, some are just better than others. And even then, you know how many times Jim or Spock or I have had to clean up the messes of the other? You say we're like a perfect whatever, but half the time I want to strangle both of them and they each other. It's chaotic and we're all trying our best and because of you, we're doing a LOT better than we would be."
Y/n crossed his arms over his chest. "Do you know why I come by the Med Bay so often?"
"Why?" Bones asked, his tone tired as he expected some new reason why he was pathetic. Perhaps it was that he was too lazy to be careful, or that he was clumsy or easily distracted. Bones had arguments for all of those things.
Unfortunately that's not what Y/n said. "Because I'm in love with you." Bones was stunned into silence, processing what had just been told to him. "I only joined the crew because I hated being away from you. I hate flying and I hate space and confrontation makes me anxious. I'm terrible in combat and even worse at social interactions. I'm awkward and quiet and bad at carrying conversation, so instead of just asking you on a date like a normal person I joined the one place I didn't go, even though I graduated school for it. Do you know why I left?"
"No," Bones answered quietly.
"I was sixteen when I joined my very first crew. I was the head mechanic until one thing went wrong and I almost stranded the whole ship. In space. A very long time from help. Everyone said that I had taken a calculated risk in the face of a surprise attack from a planet that was supposed to be hosting us for a peace conference. I saved everyone or whatever." Y/n shook his head. "I used to be a prodigy. One of the youngest mechanics ever to join Star Fleet. And good at my job too. But I was too... I took too many risks. They rationalized that I was effective, but when I left no one asked about it."
Bones tried to remember any news about Y/n. Anything before he'd joined the Enterprise. "Why don't I know about any of this?"
Y/n chuckled darkly. "Because I was too impulsive and hard to control. I was bad with authority and didn't take anything seriously. Until it was almost too late. I was too young, and they'd taken a risk with letting me go to school and test- let alone join an actual ship. I almost got everyone killed because they took a chance. A chance they repeat, until Chekov. But that was years later and he was both dedicated and intelligent. Focused, and very aware if how important his job was. With me, they'd made a mistake, and they weren't about to let everyone know that."
"Is that why you're always so reserved?" Bones asked.
Nodding, Y/n leaned against the wall behind him. "My ego took a huge hit that day. I still haven;t really recovered." He scoffed at himself. "Now I can't even talk to you. We just hang out occasionally and you talk about your life and I listen. I support everyone, quietly. I can't even ask you out when I see you every other day or something. I just get distracted while I'm working then come to you with my newest injury and then I run away without ever saying anything with my tail between my legs. Like I'm eleven and afraid of cooties. It's pathetic."
Bones was still having a hard time wrapping his mind around this. "And why are you telling me now?"
"Well it's time I was honest. You've asked about my past loads of times, and it's not fair to keep bothering you without telling you why I'm always hovering. For once in my life I'm being both open AND level headed. So that you can see how pathetic I am and reject me officially so we can both move on."
"You're an idiot," Bones spat.
"Well yeah that's what I'm-" But he didn't finish that, because Bones grabbed his face and pulled him into a kiss, cutting him off. Y/n tensed but as Bones kept kissing him, he had no choice but to melt into him. What was he going to do? Push the other man away? I think the fuck not.
The kiss was earnest. Words that couldn't be found. Something that could only be explained in this way. Bones didn't give a single shit what Y/n had done in his past, or what he thought of himself now. To Bones, Y/n was... amazing, for some reason.
They parted, but Bones held onto him. "My best friend is James T Kirk and you think that you been a free spirit when you were sixteen was going to scare me away?"
Y/n did laugh at that. "You're not in love with Kirk though. You're just friends."
"But I am in love with you," Bones sassed rather firmly. "Got that?"
For a second, all of Y/n's insecurities slipped away from him, and he grinned. "Yeah. Got it."
"Good," Bones grumbled. Then he kissed him again and they got lost each other. The night had only just begun, and on the high of finally releasing all the pent up emotions they'd both been scrambling to keep under control, they finally took the opportunity to let it all go and make up for lost time. And boy did they.

pretty photographer
read part 1 here!
the biggest idiots on the surface of the planet go on a date
***
After Sirius had left, Remus sat down at his kitchen table and edited the pictures, waiting for Lily to get home. He could still barely process what had happened, with the unbuttoned shirts and tattoos and makeup... Safe to say, the editing was not going very quickly.
Lily finally got back at around 10, dragging an oversized canvas in with her bag of art supplies. Remus quickly slammed the laptop shut, where he had totally not been studying Sirius’ tattoos.
“Where’ve you been?”
Lily laughed. “Geez, mum. Had to stay late at school to work on this stupid project.” She shot a look at the canvas that was taller than she was. “Stopped by at James’ on the way home. His roommate was there.” She waggled her eyebrows teasingly.
Remus tried to sound casual. “Oh?”
“Yeah, sounds like the shoot went very well,” she said, walking to their small kitchen to brew a pot of tea. “Like maybe there will be a follow up meeting to, y’know, discuss how well it went.”
Remus got up from the table and swatted her arm. “Oh, shut up.”
“So what did you think of him?”
“Sirius?”
She rolled her eyes. “No, my great-uncle who you also met today. Yes, Sirius.”
He sighed. “Drop-dead gorgeous. Overwhelmingly confident. Tattoos and piercings and long hair... basically who I picture when I think of my soulmate. How could you not at least show me a picture beforehand?”
She smiled and shrugged. “Element of surprise. But you got his number, right?”
“More like he gave it to me while I was paralyzed with hot-guy syndrome. But yes.”
“And you’re going on a date with him?”
He sighed again. “Well, I don’t know... He’s way out of my league.”
Lily turned to face him. She studied his face thoughtfully for a moment, before slapping him across it.
Remus jumped about a mile. “Lily! What was that for?”
“You are seriously the biggest idiot I’ve ever met. You met your literal dream guy, he gave you his number, and you’re not going on a date with him?”
Remus thought for a moment while he rubbed his face. She was right, Sirius was his dream guy. And he had been flirting with him for the whole shoot... “Okay, fine. I’ll text him.”
She raised her eyebrows. “You better. You can’t go throw away James’ and my hard work just because you’re nervous.”
Remus couldn’t help but laugh. “Of course you and James are behind this.”
“Couples who plot together, stay together. Now go text him, before I drink all of this for myself.”
Remus poured himself a mug of tea before retiring to his room. He stared at the posters and photographs on his wall while he worked the nerve up to retrieve the slip of paper from his pocket.
remus: hey is this sirius?
sirius <3: pretty boy! you finally texted
Remus blushed at ‘pretty boy’. The words made him feel all giddy inside, like someone had taken his stomach and turned it into a butterfly sanctuary. He grinned as he typed.
remus: well, i couldn’t stay away from a drop-dead gorgeous model like you, could i?
sirius <3: my charms are pretty irresistible
remus: so i was thinking
remus: do you maybe wanna go out sometime?
remus: if not that’s totally fine
sirius <3: why wouldn’t i want to go out with someone as cute and thoughtful as u?
sirius <3: not to mention a very talented photographer
Remus felt so happy he could scream. Cute and thoughtful? This guy was definitely not the garden-variety Tinder hookup
remus: i can’t take all the credit for the pictures. i do have the privilege of working with some of the most attractive people on the face of the earth
remus: so how about i pick u up saturday at 7? it’ll be a surprise
sirius <3: i love surprises
remus: saturday it is :)
A smile so wide he felt like it would crack his face in half spread across Remus’ face. He couldn’t believe he’d just gotten a date with someone so... Sirius. “Lily!” He called, “Saturday at 7!”
He could hear the grin in her voice as she called back. “See? Told you!”
That night, he went to bed grinning like a fool. The next few days were torturous as he counted down to Saturday. When the day finally arrived, the hours crawled by like old slugs. His heart wouldn’t stop going 100 beats per second.
Remus mulled over what he should wear for what must’ve been at least 45 minutes. He finally settled on a thrifted green jumper and worn blue jeans, with his well-loved pair of brown converse. He quickly texted Sirius.
remus: btw i hope u like biking
sirius <3: i like anything as long as it’s with u ;)
He rolled his eyes but smiled like an idiot. Grabbing his red bag, he knocked softly on Lily’s door.
She opened it and nodded approvingly. “Here, let me take a picture so I can show it at your wedding.” Remus pretended to make a face at her but obliged, sticking up a peace sign. “Good luck with your dream boy!” She gave him an affectionate hand squeeze. “Not that you’ll need it.”
He laughed. “Thanks, Lil.” He squeezed her back before heading out the door and hopping on his bike. James didn’t live far, which was convenient for Lily, and he supposed, him as well. Before he knew it, he was knocking on their green door.
James opened the door and grinned his signature mischievous grin. “Oh Sirius, your prince is here to see you!”
“Bugger off!” Sirius quickly came to the door and gave James an unceremonious shove. He was dressed in black jeans and a Green Day t shirt, with a black denim jacket covered in patches, as well as yellow Docs. He snapped his fingers before Remus could open his mouth. “Damn! Hang on, I’ll be right back.” He rushed off quickly.
When he came back, he was holding sprigs of lavender tied with a green ribbon. Sirius smiled sincerely. “For you. Lily told me they were your favorite.”
Remus almost proposed to him right then and there. Before he could lose his nerve, he gave Sirius a quick peck on the cheek. “I love them. Thank you.”
The two stepped outside, Sirius dragging James’ bike. “Haven’t ridden one of these in years. My favorite mode of transportation is motorcycle.”
“Well, I hope you didn’t forget how to, because I have a spectacular night planned for us.”
First, Remus led them to his favorite secondhand bookshop. They locked their bikes outside and stepped in, reveling in the smell of old ink and paper.
Sirius took Remus’ hand. “This place is amazing.”
Remus looked over at him and couldn’t help but smile. Sirius was scanning the shelves hungrily, drinking the shop in with his eyes. “I’m glad you like it.” He squeezed his hand.
They wandered around the shelves, laughing at funny titles and pulling out the things that caught their eye. Sirius picked out an old book with photographs of couples in it for Remus “Because I’m dating a photographer!” and Remus picked out a book of plants, since he found out Sirius had been trying to start a garden. They paid for the books and left, Remus leading the way to their second destination.
They parked in front of a cheerful old Italian restaurant filled with warm light and people living. Remus instructed Sirius to wait outside. “I’ll only be a moment, promise!” He quickly walked in and came back out with three white boxes of Italian food.
Sirius raised his eyebrows inquisitively, but Remus only smiled. “Let’s go to the last place.”
They arrived at Remus’ apartment building. Sirius grinned. “Oh, that’s the direction we’re going in?” Remus swatted him but laughed.
“Get your mind out of the gutter. Come on.” Remus unlocked the door and they climbed what felt like eons worth of stairs, talking and laughing the whole way up. Just before they got up the last flight, Remus made Sirius promise to close his eyes. He took his hand and they walked up together.
“You can open them now,” Remus said softly. Sirius opened his eyes and scanned the area. They were on the roof, where they could see all of London sprawled out beneath them like jewels on velvet. Lights glimmered white and gold, illuminating the people and cars bustling about like small insects in a field. It was perfect.
“D’you like it?”
Sirius turned to face him. “I- I love it. This is incredible, Rem.”
Remus smiled at the nickname. “Here, help me set up.” He pulled the food and a blanket out of his bag, along with some matches and candles. They set the boxes down on the blanket and lit the candles. The air was cool enough for them to see the steam coming off of the fresh pasta and garlic bread.
They dug in, and Remus was happier than he could remember in a long time. Sirius was an excellent conversationalist, not to mention the biggest flirt he’d ever met. They talked and talked until the last dregs of sauce had been wiped from the boxes, the last piece of garlic bread split in half. It was colder now, and Remus shivered against the wind.
“Come here.” Sirius held his arms open and Remus sat between his legs, leaning his back against Sirius. His heart was beating so fast now, nestled against Sirius’ warm chest. He felt safe and his heart felt full. He wanted to freeze this moment and live in it forever.
Sirius pulled Remus closer, rubbing his thumb against his shoulder. “Can we live here forever?”
Remus put his arms on either side of Sirius’ hips and turned around. “Yes, please.” They looked at each other for a very full moment before Remus closed the distance between their lips and kissed him. It was like no kiss he’d ever had before, sweet and full of warmth. Sirius’ lips moved gently against his, and he felt his cool lip ring against his warm mouth. Remus placed his hands at the nape of Sirius’ neck, pulling them chest to chest and curving his legs around his lower back. Sirius’ hands roamed the soft regions of Remus’ jumper. They pulled apart for a moment, breathless.
For once, Sirius was at a loss for words. “I- I’m... Um, I-”
Remus laughed and put their foreheads together. “Just shut up and kiss me.”

Title: But I Knew You
Pairing: Avatrice
Chapters: 1/1
Wordcount: 2270
Summary: College AU. Beatrice is Ava’s favorite person. Ava loves being around her in a way she can’t explain. She wants to do everything with her, from studying to partying to walks outside. Which is completely normal for best friends.
Getting flustered by close contact and fake flirting is also definitely a super normal friendship thing.
Read on AO3 or below.
“I don’t get it.”
Beatrice sighed from her desk. “You don’t have to, it’s organic chemistry.”
“But I feel like I should. Like, this is the structure of living things right? I’m living, so I should understand how it works.”
“You use the internet, but you don’t know how that works.”
“Good point.” Ava shut the thick textbook in front of her. She didn’t really want to learn anyways. “You done yet?”
Beatrice sighed again, turning in her chair to face Ava, who was sitting on her bed. “We’ve only been working half an hour, and I specifically said I was spending the entire day studying. Which you should be doing too, since I know you said you have an exam Monday.”
“Fine Ms. Studious.” Ava made a big show of loudly unzipping her backpack and finally pulling out her laptop and notebooks. “I’ll…study,” she said, punctuating her last word with air quotes.
Beatrice narrowed her eyes, definitely looking skeptical, but turned back to her own pile of schoolwork.
Ava opened up her Google doc notes on her laptop, and simultaneously picked up her phone to check Twitter. Beatrice was right to doubt her; she practically never did any work on Saturdays. That’s what Sundays were for.
And yet, every Saturday, she showed up at Beatrice’s room under the guise of studying, just so she could hang out with her favorite person. Beatrice was one of the few people Ava felt comfortable in silence with, maybe due to all the death glares she’s received from Beatrice when she’s being too distracting.
Either way, she found comfort in it, even if they’re just sitting in the same room together, focused on their own activities. Beatrice studying, and Ava scrolling through social media on her phone, occasionally typing a paragraph or two for a paper due the following week.
They’re pretty much polar opposites, and Ava often wondered how they stuck as friends. Probably due to the weird crucible of living on the same freshman year dorm floor. People got to know everyone really quickly, for better or worse.
Luckily, it turned out for the better with everyone Ava met. A few of them with rooms in the north wing bonded fast, and they rented a house together for their sophomore year. She loved them all: Mary, Lilith, Camila, and Beatrice.
But especially Beatrice.
Beatrice was smart, kind, and witty, and honestly the best listener Ava’s ever met. Ava unabashedly talks a lot. Like, a lot. And being like that, people can lose interest as conversation and friendships progress.
But Beatrice still gave Ava her full attention after a year of Ava talking her ear off. Which was still impressive every time.
It’s cool.
It’s cool that she has a solid group of friends when there was no one back home to keep in touch with.
She really loved it here.
There were so many things to do and people to meet, sometimes she still got overwhelmed by it all.
And the best place to get the full experience? College parties.
It was the midst of midterm season, but honestly all the more necessary to have something to blow off stress. And to be real, midterm season lasted from the second month of school to the end of the semester. So, no better time than the present.
After Ava got kicked out of Beatrice’s room for being too distracting, she spent most of that evening helping the rest of her housemates set up their party. Mary was in charge of getting alcohol, having the most connection with older students. Lilith put Ava and Camila in charge of cleaning and setting up, which basically meant that Lilith didn’t trust Ava to actually do the work well. Ava would have been offended if she didn’t enjoy spending time with Camila so much. The girl was a ball of literal sunshine, yet also unexpectedly, full of dirty jokes.
So, setting up the apartment with Camila was a party in itself, full of fun banter and deep life discussions.
Ava just finished putting out the snacks and booze, when the first people arrived. She cracked open a bottle of Fireball, and downed a double shot.
Ava happily shook out her body as the the liquid warmed her up. It was going to be a good night.
———
Ava’s in the middle of laughing at some stranger’s story when she caught sight of a figure coming down the stairs. She grinned.
“Woo! Life of the party’s here!!!” She yelled across the room, startling the people around her, and drawing Beatrice’s attention towards her. If Ava was sober, maybe she would have cared more that Beatrice looked slightly (very) embarrassed, but Ava definitely wasn’t sober. She half skipped and half jogged across the room, undoubtedly spilling her drink on herself and several bystanders.
She hugged Beatrice tightly when she reached her. God it felt nice. Like sinking into a bed of clouds. Or something similarly soft and fluffy and comforting. “I missed you.”
Beatrice laughed softly, close to Ava’s ear. The best sound in the world. “You just saw me a couple of hours ago.”
Ava pulled away and pouted. “Still.”
Beatrice smiled, in a perfect way that made her entire face brighter. Holy hell she was beautiful. “Well, I finished up for the day and I’m here now. Any chance you can show me where the party is?” Her eyes sparkled with playfulness.
Ava looked at her in disbelief. “Wait seriously? You wanna join?”
“I can’t be a dud at a party in my own house, can I?”
Beatrice had definitely sat out on many parties they’ve hosted, but Ava ignored that. For now, she was going to enjoy this win. She led her to the kitchen, where various bottles of alcohol and sodas crowded their dining table. Beatrice shrugged when Ava asked what she wanted, so she just made a vodka cranberry. It was a crowd pleaser drink in her opinion. Plus, some rich kid brought Grey Goose, which was probably double or triple the price of everything else on the table.
Beatrice took a sip. “Not bad.”
“I may not know much,” Ava tapped her index finger a couple times to her temple, “but I do know my liquor.”
“Don’t sell yourself short, you also know how to get on my nerves.” Beatrice said teasingly, voice devoid of any malice.
Ava took a overdramatic bow. “Thank you, m’lady.” She refilled her own cup with a mixture of vodka and sprite. “Shall we?” Ava offered her hand to the other girl.
Beatrice rolled her eyes, but put her hand in Ava’s.
Ava led them back to the main room, navigating through groups of bodies to eventually land them at a couch, which was miraculously unclaimed.
From there, Ava launched into basically non-stop talking, wanting to entertain Beatrice in the best way she knew how. She shared stories of all the people she met during the night so far, with Beatrice supplementing the conversation with appropriate reactions and commentary. Ava recounted one guy that recklessly challenged her to shotgunning a beer against him. Spoiler alert, he lost miserably. Ava watched Beatrice’s eyes as much as she could while she was talking, entranced with their intenseness, openness, and expression. Did they always look like that?
The eye contact felt so personal, like it took away everyone else in the room, ignoring the raging party and loud music around them.
And the music was definitely loud, though the song choices were good. Mary knew how to set up a playlist. Ava got banned from music duty when she un-ironically added in Friday by Rebecca Black.
No regrets.
After exhausting all the tales from that night, she moved to discussing and speculating with Beatrice on the backstories of all the partygoers. People watching with Beatrice was always fun. As strait-laced as she appeared, Beatrice was also incredibly creative. Whatever wild stuff Ava theorized, Beatrice could match or do better.
At one point, a couple joined them on the couch, pushing Ava into Beatrice, pressing their sides together. The couch was much too small to comfortably fit 3 people, much less four.
“Shit, sorry.” Ava tried her best to back up and give Beatrice space, but there was nowhere to go.
Beatrice put a hand on her thigh and smiled. “Ava, it’s fine.”
Ava suddenly found it hard to breathe. Probably due to being surrounded by two more people.
“You okay?” Beatrice furrowed her eyebrows.
“Yeah, think I just need to get out here for a bit. Wanna take a walk?”
“Sure.”
There was a nice, cool breeze outside, a welcome relief from the humid air inside. It was also much quieter.
Beatrice suggested getting ice cream from Mcdonald’s and Ava emphatically agreed. Beatrice really knew her.
Fifteen minutes later she was contently humming to herself as they walked back to the house. This was the best party ever. She had an ice cream cone in one hand and somehow Beatrice’s hand in the other. A perfect night. Ava’s pretty sure this is the happiest she’s ever been in her entire life.
———
Ava groaned as she slid back into consciousness. She felt grimy, which was not unusual for her after a night of drinking.
She did a quick self inventory to assess the damage.
She was in her own bed, which was good. Boxers? On. Shirt? Also on, but in her sleep shirt instead of the button up she was wearing last night. Interesting. No bra. Also interesting.
She felt around to her right and left. No body in the bed with her. Good to know.
Minimal pounding in her head. She sat up, breathing a sigh of relief that she didn’t feel like throwing up.
She noticed a glass of water and a couple of Advils on her nightstand. Definitely Beatrice. No one else would be nice enough. Okay maybe Camila, but she still had bets on Beatrice.
She quickly washed down the pills with water and slipped on shorts and a pullover before making her way downstairs to the kitchen.
Mary was sitting at the table eating, and Beatrice at the stove pouring batter into a pan.
“Pancakes, oh my god. Bea you’re the best.” Ava gave Beatrice a tight hug and overdramatic sloppy kiss on the cheek.
Beatrice playfully pushed Ava away and made a show of wiping the kiss off her face. “Yeah yeah I know, now eat it while it’s still hot.”
Ava saluted. “Got it chef.”
“Dork.”
“You love it.”
Ava’s in the middle of inhaling her fifth pancake when Mary said something. Beatrice left the room about a pancake ago, so it could only have been directed at Ava.
“What?” Ava momentarily stopped chewing.
Mary got up and started rinsing her dishes in the sink. “I said, you should really tell her how you feel.”
Ava knitted her eyebrows together. “About what?”
Mary stared at her for a while, long enough to make Ava to feel uncomfortable. Her mouth was still full, and Mary has perfected the gaze that made her feel like a kid in trouble.
“Never mind,” she said, as she put her dishes in the dishwasher.
“About what??” She repeated. Mary ignored her and walked out the kitchen. Ava swallowed the rest of the food in her mouth. “Asshole!” Ava yelled after her, eliciting a middle finger response.
Beatrice appeared in the doorway. “Everything okay?”
“Yeah, just Mary being cryptic and messing with me.”
“Sounds about right.”
Beatrice sat down at the table. “How are you feeling?”
“Surprisingly… not bad. Seriously thank you for the food and Advils,” Ava remembered her state of dress when she woke up. “And…probably also for helping me out of my clothes.”
“Oh um, right, it was nothing. Didn’t want you sleeping in an uncomfortable, sweaty shirt.” Ava noticed Beatrice’s cheeks turn a little pink. Shit, she didn’t mean to embarrass her. She could fix this.
“Did you see something you like?” Ava wiggled her eyebrows, trying to lighten the mood, but it only made Beatrice blush harder. Oh my god Ava you’re so bad at this. She felt herself digging herself into a hole. Of course fake flirting with her is going to make it worse.
Ava was about to say something (probably dumb) to attempt again to save the situation, before Beatrice spoke.
“How could I not? You’re beautiful.”
For once, Ava was speechless. The incredibly reverent but casual way Beatrice said it completely took her breath away. There was something magical about how soft Beatrice’s eyes were, and how vulnerable it felt. Half of Ava felt calmed, while the other half of her was a raging mess. Ava felt the need to do something. She wasn’t sure what, but she needed to do something. She started racking her garbled brain for any ideas.
Beatrice’s smile slowly slid into a smirk, “Got you.”
The spell of the moment was broken. Ava laughed to dust off any lingering weird feelings. “Wow, got a taste of my own medicine. I’m impressed.”
“I had a good teacher. You should have seen your face.” Beatrice mimicked a “deer in the headlights” look for a brief moment before grinning again. She got up from the table. “Now hurry up and finish your food so we can get to the library. I’m not going to let you forget about studying for your midterm tomorrow.”
“Right. Yeah.”
“Cool.” Beatrice slapped Ava’s arm playfully before leaving the room.
Ava watched her go, wondering what in the living hell just happened. Fuck. Was she about to kiss her best friend?

Can I get a sick companion with thirteen I liked your version with the master
Thank you so much, I’m glad you like it!
Title: A Hot Toddy
You opened your eyes a crack when your heard someone knock on your door. You had a cold for the past couple of days at it didn’t seem to be going away any time soon. Because Graham, Ryan and Yaz were all human and at risk of catching it you had decided to lock yourself up in your room. That hadn’t stopped the Doctor from seeing you though.
“How are you feeling?” she asked
“Like hell.”
The Doctor made a sympathetic noise and ventured further into your room shutting the door behind her. She made her way over to your bed and gently brushed some of your damp hair away from your forehead.
“In the future,” she said, “There’s a cure for the common cold.”
“Can I take it?”
“Unfortunately no. Humans change slightly in the future and I can’t risk you taking it. I don’t know what’ll happen if you take it.”
“So why tell me that there’s a cure I can’t take.”
“Err not sure. Thought it might make you feel better. Did it work?”
“Not really Doc.”
“Oh, sorry.”
“It’s fine.”
“Is there anything you want?”
“Sleep, for this cold to be over.”
“Right. I’ll let you sleep.”
“Thanks Doc.”
“No problem.”
*
You had managed to get a couple of hours sleep before the Doctor knocked on your door again.
“Feeling any better?”
“Not really.”
“I have something that might make you feel better.”
“Oh?”
The Doctor held up a steaming cup.
“What is it?”
“A hot toddy.”
“A hot toddy?”
“You know, honey, lemon, whiskey.”
“Did you make it?”
“Graham helped. He said that it’s good for colds.”
You knew that ‘Graham helped’ actually meant that Graham made it and the Doctor watched. Everyone was very careful about leaving the Doctor cook on her own. All her previous attempts ended up with something burning. The Doctor even told you that the TARDIS tried hiding the kitchen from her.
The Doctor handed you the mug and you took a sip. Immediately you started coughing, the strong whiskey hitting the back of your throat.
“Is everything alright?” the Doctor asked worried
“Yeah, just a lot of whiskey.”
“Oh, sorry.”
“Well, it’ll definitely help me sleep.”
You slowly sipped your drink and the Doctor lay down next to you on your bed.
“You’re not worried about getting sick?”
“Not human remember. I can’t catch this.”
“Good,” you yawned, “I missed people.”
You felt your eyes close and the Doctor quickly removed the cup from your hands and placed it on the table. She wrapped an arm around you and pulled you closer to her and kissed your head.
“Sweet dreams y/n,” she whispered, “Get well soon.”
*
“Are you sure she’s in there?” asked Ryan
“Almost certainly,” said Yaz, “We’ve looked everywhere else.”
Your door was slightly open and the three of them gently opened it. They weren’t surprised at the scene on the bed.
The two of you were asleep. The Doctor was sitting up in bed a soft smile on her face, one arm wrapped around your shoulders. You were leaning on the Doctor’s chest, one hand grasping her shirt. Yaz took out her phone and took a quick photo.
“Are you sure you should be doing that.”
“Trust me, they are both going to want to see this when they wake up.”
Quietly they closed the door leaving the two of you sleep. When the door was shut the Doctor opened her eyes and looked down at you.
“Thank you Yaz.” She said quietly before closing her eyes and trying to get off to sleep.

socially awkward! peter parker x oblivious shit! reader
read: peter has a heart attack every time he talks to you because you’re too pretty and nice oof
lmfao just experimenting some new head canon//writing styles lmk what you guys think 🥺
it’s essentially a crack fic i have no regrets.
Warnings: an excessive amount of exclamation points used, overload of fluff, it might be little TOO crack-y if that’s even possible for me, a confusing amount of POV switches. ok it’s just shitty writing would you please read it.
Words: 4.8k this be a baby fic
Genre: fluffity fluff, idiots to lovers, high school! reader, god just read the title.
my masterlist is here if you want more shit
talk to me! be my friend please im lonely
peter first meets you when you’re new to midtown and you get sorted into his science class.
you sat in front of him your very first day and yeah he’s been soft™ for you ever since
like no joke the first time he saw your face he freezed up and choked on his banana
‘oh nO NED!!! she’s PRETTY!!’
‘like, REALLY pretty!!! S H I T’
‘um,,... okay ain’t that a good thing you sit behind her in class!! maybe you can ask for her number or something—‘
oh hohohohoho ned my friend,,
N O
ABSOLUTELY NOT
peter parker has spoken to you a total of twenty-two (22) times within the whole year that you’ve been... acquaintances?? classmates?? ….. friends???
and his fat secret crush on you will STAY A SECRET THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
he’ll die before he asks you out or makes a move because there’s no way in hell peter has a chance with you, the beautiful new girl.
‘i mean, she’s not just beautiful too! she’s so smart, and i know that because i can literally see all her notes from behind her and she gets like, basically all A’s, but she doesn’t even know she’s smart and beautiful?? like, she never raises her hand in class even though i know she knows all th-’
you would think ned would be tired of peter’s ‘shit I’m in LOVE’ rants by now, he’s not because we stan supportive friend ned.
hehe little does he know his big fat secret crush may not be,, totally unrequited
👀
oKAY so maybe you have a humongous tiny crush on the dorky cute guy who sits behind you in science class
WHAT ABOUT IT not like he likes you back anyways.
that one time you asked him for a pencil he looked like he was having an aneurysm!! like okay, are you that hideous or—?
(yeah it totally doesn’t hurt at all that the cute guy you like is repulsed by your presence and seems to ignore you and tense up whenever you’re around)
(t o ta ll y) 🤡
yeah y/n kinda dumb in this because the entire student body knows about peter’s (not so secret lmFAO) crush on you
everyone lOwkEy ships it
ned is president of the petery/n shipper fanclub
that may be because he’s the only member in aforementioned fanclub but you two have many supporters outside the fanclub
ned hypes peter up everytime science class comes around and peter gets kinda confident when he walks in the classroom
‘yeah! i got this!! maybe this time i won’t stare at her hair creepily and then run aw-‘
‘hey peter!’
asjkdjejnxHAUXINENEIAIRJBSJS
ABORT NEVERMIND I DONT GOT THIS ASKXISNNDKSN
peters brain has left the building
and he kinda stares at you for a sec and runs off to his seat at the back
hm, yeah he definitely doesn’t like you
you sigh as you take your seat in front of him, trying to ignore how your love for this dork is completely one sided
the entire class wants to throttle both of you
so then for the sake of the cliche and the plot (did you heart that fourth wall break?? nvm i didn’t hear nothin)
gasp group project time??!?!?!?!
dang who could have saw this coming
totally unexpected
wow
peter is half hoping to get you and half DREADING to
because he knows if he gets you he’ll be able to spend time with you but 300% won’t be able to function and will most certainly fail this project
but i mean who cares about grades.
in a plot twist that literally no one saw coming,,,
‘betty and liz, you’ll be doing yours on atomic structure,
and peter and y/n are partners! you’ll be doing...’
oh nO
you’re partnered up with peter!
i mean this is great news you get to stare at his precious face more but you’re basically forcing him to spend time with someone he doesn’t like!!
so you turn around and you give him an apologetic and (cute as FXCK) small smile
meanwhile, peter combusts
one look at your smile and he just knows he’s completely fucked
like he physically uwus so hard he slams his head on the table
‘oh! are.. you okay? i mean, is working with me really going to be that bad?’
awkward laugh to hide the pain,, quick y/n!!
‘nO!! i mean, no, absolutely not that’s not what i- it wasn’t my- i didn’t m-‘
you smile a little sadly this time and say,
‘don’t worry about it, i know you don’t like me. it’s only two weeks anyway. i promise i won’t take much of your time.’
wait. hold up. back up here. wha-? wHO doesn’t like W HO??
‘wait what do you mea-‘
‘don’t worry about it. wanna meet at the library after school to get a head start on this?’
‘uh, yeah. i mean- cowabunga…!’
wat
shit peter has never wanted to die more in his entire life
so he does what any other normal person would do and yEEts out the classroom full speed
leaving you slightly hurt but mostly just confused
peter strolls in the library casually attempting to strain his neck 360 degrees to look for you
he looks like a chicken and also that’s humanly impossible but leave him be he’s iN LOVE
he spots you on one of the study tables. he takes a deep breath,, and walks over
‘hey!! sorry i’m a little late, uh, something… came up haha’
acting like the poor boy didn’t stand outside the library for fifteen minutes thinking about what he was going to say to you
‘no worries!’ you shoot him another one of those painfully adorable smiles and peter wants nothing more but to give that smile a smooch because damn that is a face that deserves smooches
but he also has a tiny feeling that maybe you might not appreciate it if he randomly kissed you out of nowhere
(you would not mind at all but he doesn’t know that)
‘so yeah! ready to compare the wonders of chemistry and motion physics?’ peter says, bending down to snatch his backpack up to the table (effectively hiding his red cheeks)
you snort as you prop your elbows onto the table, resting your head on your hands.
‘the wonders? hm, i really can’t tell whether you’re being serious or not. guess you really are a dork.’
you giggle a little bit before you catch sight of peter looking like a gaping fish. you immediately slam your hands down, perhaps a little too loudly considering you’re in a library, and blurt out,
‘uh, I was.. joking! making a joke, in case, you know, that wasn’t obvious.’ You awkwardly hide your face between your fingers and squeak out a small apology
‘nO! no, no, don’t worry about it. yeah, I am a dork, so… yeah, i’m not offended, or anything. uh- just, yeah, don’t worry about it.’
well, that ruined the flow of conversation peter was so desperate to keep up with
none of you speak for a bit, opting to look around the very interesting library walls instead, until peter clears his throat and brings up motion physics again
yeah! this will be fine. all you have to focus on is science, and NOT peter’s very soft kissable lips and how good he looks in his light green coloured sweater
huh
oh no
desperately attempting to clear your mind, you try and focus on what he’s saying instead
it’s just SCIENCE, y/n. focus on the SCIENCE.
this distraction just-concentrate-on-the-work technique works for about the next hour or so as you guys study and work on this project
everything is going great!
you two have an organised google doc full of research and a finished introduction! you’re being extremely productive!
both of you are doing an amazing job at hiding your mutual (except none of you know it’s mutual) attraction!
so as you walk out the library beside peter some time later, you’re smiling softly, because even if your massive crush isn’t reciprocated, you and peter can maybe at least be friends by the end of this, right?
he didn’t even look like he detested you as much as usual today
maybe that’s because he was pretty much forced into cooperating with you because of this project, but you even caught him smiling at you today, so he must be warming up to you
which is great news, of course
peter swallows down his fear and the excessive amount of spit that is coating his tongue and turns to you
‘so, this was really fun’
you tilt your head, mildly horrified at his words
‘we need to stage you an intervention if a science project is something you classify as ‘fun’’
‘no, i mean, the science was kinda boring. spending time with you was really fun. ….right?’
oh good, he isn’t actually a complete monster who does science for fun
(he totally is but you don’t need to know that)
‘yeah! hanging out was really fun, even if we had to spend that time doing work’
you shudder and cringe when you mention ‘work’, because there are much more interesting things you’d rather be doing with peter
👀
‘yep.’
‘yeeep.’
‘so, we should meet up again to work on this… project. right?’ you’re shifting your weight and darting your eyes across the floor, desperately avoiding peter’s gaze.
‘yeah!!’
oof maybe that was a little too enthusiastic. maybe you didn’t notice?
‘i mean, yeah… yeah, totally. sounds… chill.’
oh god that’s worse isn’t it
‘great!’
cue awkward silence
‘so… um… can I maybe have your number?’
you stare blankly at him trying to conceal your excitement because did PETER PARKER just ask for YOUR number?!?!?!
oh no why aren’t you saying anything crapcrapcrap this is peter’s first time asking for ANYONE’S number did he mess up oh no he messed up didn’t he.
‘you know, for the project!!!!! haha!!!!’
oh. of course he wouldn’t actually want your number
*sigh these oblivious fucks I stg i’m the one who’s actually writing this and I want to throttle them*
‘oh… yeah, no problem! um, here’s my number’
‘cool! i’ll text you then!’
from peter p [12:48]
Hey y/n!! Um this is Peter btw. Peter Parker. From science class.
to peter p [12:49]
hey peter!
from peter p [12:49]
So if it’s cool w u do you want to meet up at my place? For the project haha, just figured a change of scenery might be nice. The library can get a little bit boring sometimes.
to peter p [12:49]
yeah sounds cool just send me ur address and i’ll be over after skl tdy if that’s ok
from peter p [12:50]
Yep awesome see u then
to peter p [12:50]
see u! :))
that smiley face almost makes his heart burst god he’s so whipped for you.
then the panic kicks in.
‘OHMYGOD Y/N Y/L/N IS COMING OVER.’
peter spends like three hours making sure the apartment is SPOTLESS.
spends like half an hour trying to decide whether he should take down all the Star Wars memorabilia down from his walls
like, he doesn’t want you to think he’s a DORK.
(too late peter)
but then ultimately keeps them up, partly because shit you’re coming in like 5 minutes he doesn’t have time for this
but also, you’re a nice person! you surely won’t make fun of him for having a knockoff replica of the death star in his room.
hopefully
oh god if you make fun of him for being a Star Wars nerd he will break down in tears HE HAS TO TAKE THEM DOWN
*ding*
fuck
peter stands up from his spinney chair abruptly and scrambles towards front door.
he spent some time this morning with Aunt May for girl advice and nothing really came out of that except a very traumatizing safe sex talk and some teasing that he will never be able to erase from his memory.
he takes a fast detour and quickly stops in front of the bathroom mirror on his way to open the door, desperately trying to tame the mop of curls and his head.
did I put on deodorant this morning? crap I brushed my teeth right?
*ding*
FUCK
peter stops in front of the door, takes a deep breath and-
‘hey!’ a strangled greeting comes out of his throat but hopefully you don’t notice how nervous he is.
you don’t, because this is oblivious shit!reader
‘hi peter!’
peter is suddenly very aware of how long you have been standing outside.
‘oH! sorry, um come in!!’ he says, opening the door wider and welcoming you in with (overly?) enthusiastic arms.
‘yeah! make yourself at home and everything. you want a drink or something?’
‘water would be nice.’
peter sprints to the kitchen to get you some ICE COLD water in his favourite mug.
peter parker’s apartment is covered with cosy furniture and photos of him and another middle aged woman. half those photos are him and that woman smiling brightly into the camera.
there’s a photo that’s nicely framed above the mantle that shows a young peter beaming in front of a birthday cake, with that same woman and another unknown middle aged man smiling down at him. the photo is clearly old and crumpled, even with the frame around it.
peter looks so happy in that photo…
huh. baby peter is just as adorable as he is now.
you jump away from the photo when you hear his footsteps coming back into the living room. something about the photo seemed emotional, personal. it just didn’t seem like something you should be looking at.
peter comes back clutching two mugs and hands one to you.
‘nice place!’
‘oh, thanks… yeah my Aunt isn’t home right now, she’s downtown meeting some friends, so we have the place to ourselves……’
‘so we can study uninterrupted.’ he says.
oh of course, studying!! yep that’s exactly where your mind went when peter said the apartment was empty aHaH.
peter’s room is a little less adult than the rest of his apartment, flooded with polaroids of him and Ned, with Star Wars posters on the walls.
you ignore the pang of jealousy that you feel when you spot a photo of MJ and peter grinning in front of a bowling alley.
so for the next two hours you two are in peter’s room… studying vigorously.
you would be 100% lying if you said you weren’t disappointed only studying happened.
the weird thing is???
every time you would look down at your textbook to explain something about periodic motion peter seemed to be looking at you when you looked up?
well, looking at you isn’t very weird, looking at someone while they’re talking is just basic manners. but when you looked back he would snap his eyes straight back to his own textbook, nodding and wordlessly agreeing with whatever you had just said.
maybe it’s just your imagination but the way he looked at you, it’s almost a loving, caring gaze.
oh god who are you kidding, it’s just your brain and imagination playing tricks on you.
you’re alone with peter parker in his bedroom!! these things are going to happen!
‘hey you want to take a break? we’ve been going at this for a whole hour now.’ peter says, craning his neck to take a look at the clock on the wall.
‘has it really been a whole hour?’ you lean back in your chair looking up at the ceiling.
‘yeah okay. let’s have a small break then.’
peter picks up both of your mugs and heads off to the kitchen, groaning slightly when he stretches his legs out for the first time in an hour.
*a/n: apologies in advance to those with nut allergies*
he comes back with both your mugs refilled with (water for you, gatorade for peter) and a small bag of almonds for you to snack on.
‘oh hey! almonds are my study snack of choice too!’
‘yeah, i know’ peter says carelessly, scrolling down his phone.
‘i don’t like almonds all that much, but i bought a few packs this morning on the way to school.’
hm,, wHat
‘if… you don’t like almonds why would you get them for me?’
‘because you like almonds.’
blink.
b l i n k
it takes a bit of time for peter to realise what just came out of his mouth.
‘i meAn! I’M NOT A STALKER I SWEAR. i just see you at school sometimes and you always have a small pack of these to snack on whenever you’re doing work so i thought,, you know, since we’re doing WORK, i should buy some for you… so you won’t get hungry!!!’ he’s wailing nonsensical excuses and apologies by now.
huh.
peter parker knows that you snack on almonds when you study, and bought a pack for you even though he doesn’t like them at all.
maybe he doesn’t hate you as much as you thought.
you tear apart the packaging and stuff an almond in your mouth, your traitorous lips slowly threatening to curl into a huge smile.
(despite how much you fight against it, you end up with a slightly demonic looking huge smile on your face, which you attempt to hide by stuffing more almonds in your mouth)
(you now look like a chipmunk)
(but a cute one!!!!)
meanwhile peter is trying to hide the feeling of humiliation by resting his face in his hands, because he literally just exposed himself. he will not be able to take it if he looks back up at your face and you’re laughing at him for this stupid crush.
to his surprise, he does not look up to find you mocking his love for you, but instead, he finds you with a mouth full of almonds, struggling to chew and swallow them all without looking like a disgusting fool.
oh.
that’s kinda cute.
after a good five minutes of you trying to force like 10 almonds down your esophagus, you clear your throat and awkwardly blurt out a ‘thank you’
‘for the almonds! it’s cute how you bought them for me because you knew how much i like to snack on them while i study. that’s really sweet of you. i guess you really don’t hate me all that much, huh?’ the last sentence comes out teasingly, a playful smile gracing your lips, but instead of uwu-ing over your cute smile, peter’s just confused.
‘why would i hate you?’ he says, his eyebrows laced together in confusion.
‘well, i always kinda got the impression that you didn’t like me… all that much? i never really knew why. hey, why did you hate me so much before this? if i accidentally did something at the start of the year that pissed you off, i’m sorry.’
your playful smile fades a little bit as you see peter basically collapse on himself just due to sheer GRIEVANCE.
‘WHY WOULD YOU THINK I HATED YOU?’ peter yells out, probably annoying the neighbours with how fucking loud he is, but he can’t seem to bring himself to care right now.
‘you… didn’t?’ you say, now becoming just as confused as peter.
he shakes his head aggressively, bringing his fingers up to his temples.
‘but… you always seemed so jumpy around me! and you would never really talk to me, and that one time i asked you for a pencil, you looked like you were dying or something! i always just thought you didn’t like me!’
oh
my
god
peter doesn’t know whether he should be laughing or crying.
‘that’s not because I HATED YOU!! that’s because- i mean- i always thought-’ he’s still yelling and at this point one of the neighbours are definitely going to come knocking to complain, but peter still doesn’t care, because he’s currently having an existential crisis.
ohmygod all this time my CRUSH thought I HATED HER because I couldn’t function like a normal human being in front of her because of how much I liked her until i gave her some ALMONDS what is wrong with me? what kind of entity that controls the universe could hate me so much to pull THIS kind of sick prank on me?
‘wait if you didn’t hate me why would you always act so weird in front of me?’
‘BECAUSE-’ peter tangles his fingers into his hair, and he kicks his chair, sending it halfway across his room from frustration.
‘how could you possibly think I hated you??? how could you possibly think ANYONE could hate you??? you’re single handedly the only good person in this godforsaken school full of IDIOTS and BULLIES! nobody could ever hate you, y/n, and certainly not ME!’
perhaps he is using an excessive amount of hand gestures, but it gets his point across.
‘wha-? what do yo-?’
‘wHat are you TALKING ABOUT?’ you say, slowly turning just as frustrated as peter.
‘if there’s ANYONE that’s decent in this ‘godforsaken school full of idiots’ it would be YOU, peter parker!! nobody would just pay attention to what I EAT so I wouldn’t get HUNGRY during a study session oKaY!! you’re so CONFUSING! every time I accept the fact that you don’t like me back you pull this bullshit, essentially making me rethink ALL MY FEELINGS!’ you say, going through the room (stepping over the toppled chair), just to jab a finger onto peter’s chest.
suddenly both of you are aware of your flushed cheeks and your close proximity.
‘wha- WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?’ peter basically shrieks, and you would not be surprised if all of New York managed to hear that scream.
your cheeks darken as you awkwardly step back from him, realising that you accidentally outed yourself.
‘um- i mean,’ you stumble on the fallen chair as you desperately walk backwards with your hands behind your back to avoid peter’s piercing gaze.
*you’re not good at confrontation okay*
‘you like me?? wait wait, you like ME?’ you frown a little as you look at peter’s incredulous expression.
‘well yeah, you don’t have to rub it in like that, I know you don’t like me back.’ You mumble, looking away.
‘don’t like yo- OH MY GOD!’
this time peter stalks all the way across the room, looking you dead straight in the eye.
‘you better not be joking with me, y/n.’
you squeak out a small ‘no’ or something like that because you can’t really focus with peter looking down at you like that.
‘you mean to tell me, my stupid fat, nervous crush on you was mistaken for HATRED, and all this time I’ve been thinking I have no chance with you, but you’ve been crushing on me too all this time?’ his words come out jumbled, and a little fast, but you can decipher the general meaning.
peter parker likes you… too.
oh GOD WAT
he clears his throat, biting his lip and you can just tell he’s about to apologise, because peter’s a complete angel who probably doesn’t want you feeling uncomfortable.
‘um- uh, y- oomph!’
and in this shocking turn of events, you execute the only spontaneous thing you’ve ever done in your life and pray that it ends up well.
you lean forward and press your lips to peter’s, hoping to whatever superior being there is that this was a good decision.
spoiler alert: it was
peter.exe has shut down because all of a sudden your lips are against his and oh wow this is so much better than all those times he’s imagined it happening because it’s actually happening now.
your hands find their way to peter’s curls that he was trying so hard to get under control an hour ago but now he can’t remember why he doesn’t like his hair if it’s just going to be tugged on by you like this from now on.
he grabs you by the waist and pulls you closer to him, pretty much pressing his body against yours.
not that you’re complaining.
and god if peter died from suffocation right now that would be a heavenly way to go, and he would be a-ok with dying if it meant finally being in your arms.
you pull away from peter, both of you slightly panting before you burst out in giggles, resting your head and letting it fall on peter’s shoulder.
‘oh my god, we’re such idiots, aren’t we?’
peter hums in agreement before lifting your chin up to kiss you again.
bonus: boyfriend! peter
definitely still stares at you in science class except now whenever you catch him staring he just shoots you a lazy grin
because yEa he has FULL RIGHTS to stare at you now because you’re his GIRLFRIEND.
you find out he’s spiderman pretty much immediately let’s be real this boy is not the best at hiding secrets
especially from his GIRLFRIENDS whomst he loves VERY MUCH.
this boy also gives you anxiety attacks whenever you see spiderman on the news saving people, getting hurt and shit, but he understands.
sends you a text before and after he gets in the suit whenever he can.
most certainly uses his spidey-powers for things they were not intended to be used for.
to visit his girlfriend so she can give him cuddles at any time why what were you guys thinking about hMmmMMMmmmM?
likes to show you off but also gets very blushy and shy about PDA
pretty much had a seizure the first time you held hands.
ned almost fainted when he heard the news (aka peter rushed to call him the second you left that night you kissed because these bitches are very gossipy)
peter parker is the ultimate clingy boyfriend.
……
and you love it.
your science teacher no longer puts you in the same group or partners you guys up now though.
because now you can’t study together, you literally can’t keep your hands off each other.
sometimes when peter is feeling ~particularly clingy he just nuzzles into the crook of your neck during lunch, and pulls you to him so you’re pretty much on his lap.
and MJ is just like yall r disgusTING
right in front of my salad.
in conclusion, peter parker loves you and you love him.
it’s honestly kind of sickening,
but you love that too.

No 30. NOW WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? Wound Reveal | Ignoring an Injury | Internal Organ Injury
Title: Debt Fandom: Mass Effect Character(s)/Pairing(s): Garrus, Female Shepard, Mordin; mutual pining Shakarian Rating: T Warning(s): painkillers Wordcount: 590 Summary: After the gangs’ assault, Garrus overhears something. [part of the omega non-reaper au]
cross-posted to ao3 [eventually] @whumptober2020
“-you’ve done well, Jane. Must remember to take care of self, too.”
Garrus recognized Doctor Solus’ voice. His eyes were closed and he didn’t feel much of anything at all, which was a definite improvement over what he last remembered. He felt dizzy, a little nauseated, and hoped it was from painkiller and not fever. It was all he could manage to lie there and listen to this softly-spoken conversation.
“I know, Doc. It’s just... hard, you know?”
Jane. She sounded fine. Tired, but fine, which made Garrus even more relieved than he would expect.
“Loss often difficult to deal with. Experience does not make it easier. But working self to death will not help.”
Jane snorted. “That’s rich, coming from you.” A pause, a shift and the clink of ceramic against hard tabletop. Jane’s usual serious-conversation coffee. “I really appreciate you coming here to help, Doc.”
“Safer here than at the clinic. Less danger for my patients.”
Jane sighed. “The gangs have mostly given up on searching for him, even without a body. They seem to think the rockets did the trick. They would have, without your help.”
This time Doctor Solus chuckled. “Without our help, you mean. Do not remember making dangerous solo rescue.” His tone turned almost… scolding. “Nor getting shot.”
Garrus almost tried to sit up at that. Getting shot? Had Jane gotten hurt? His eyes felt heavy. His whole body felt heavy. He must have been sedated.
“You say that like it’s the first time I’ve been shot,” Jane replied, almost forcefully light. “It’s healing well enough.” Another long pause. “Thank you for that too, by the way. I don’t think I can repay you for what you’ve done for us- for me and for Garrus, I mean.”
“Repay me by leaving Omega.” There was a sudden sound of ceramic hitting tabletop, harder than normal. Jane must’ve dropped her mug. “Omega is dark, dangerous. Not a place for beginnings. Place for ends. Tell Garrus how you feel about him and both of you get off this rock.” Garrus layed there, the doctor’s words seeping into his brain. Tell me… how she feels? Jane had been such a constant, these last few months. A part of the team, like family. Funny. Bright. The idea that she could feel anything for a washed-up C-Sec dropout made him dizzy for an entirely new reason. He almost held his breath in the silence.
When Jane finally spoke, it was soft and sounded so, so fragile. “Mordin…”
The sound of more shifting fabric, then the soft pat of skin on skin. “Mustn’t let that spark of light within you die.”
Jane sighed. “I- I don’t think Garrus will want to leave. Not after…” She trailed off, and he could hear her righting her cup. “I don’t want him to feel forced into anything.”
“But won’t leave without him?”
“... I don’t want to leave him,” she replied, softer than ever.
There was a sudden shift as Doctor Solus stood. “Tell him how you feel. Tell him that you want to leave. His answer might surprise you.”
His footsteps always surprised Garrus; quick and firm like a doctor, but with a grace he would expect from Special Forces or Blackwatch. Jane’s chair squeaked as she turned to follow his movement. “Doc-”
“Pay me back soon. It’s been an honor, Jane.”
The door clicked shut quietly.
Jane’s chair squeaked again and she exhaled suspiciously like she was holding back tears. She sat in silence, and the painkillers pulled Garrus back into sleep.

FFT: The Story of Tonight
Ahhh. And here is the final part! parts [ one - two - three ] can be found by clicking on the links. And surprise? This turned out really fluffy? I mean.... almost teeth-rotting in how fluffy it is, but I just... Listen... after the other night, I couldn’t have this ending angsty, so I purposely held off until a day I thought I could end this fluffy like I wanted.
Again, huuuuuge hugs to you, bb. Because you definitely inspired all of this with our talk about the idea.. And the titles you sent, bless you so much for all of them.

[ tag list doc ] [ masterlist ] [ keep ‘em coming - they’re super fun ] - I mean that, as of now, my drafts are almost empty. I have like... one headcanon left to post (sorry it’s taking forever to the anon who asked, I’m trying to get a feel for the person you asked for, tbh) and no fake fic titles.. so yeah.
“Are you absolutely sure this is a good idea? Because I don’t think it is.” I stopped mid-walk, staring at the ticket line with wide eyes, trying to take a few deep breaths and pull myself together.
Cordelia paused her walk and looked back at me. “Oh no. Uh-uh. We drove 5 and a half hours. You’re doing this. You’re getting your closure.”
I felt more uneasy than anything. And if you were to ask me?
I knew deep down that I hadn’t come to the show tonight to get closure. I’d come because I was so desperate to see Adam again that I couldn’t take it. Everything felt empty. I tried moving on, I tried pushing my feelings and the pain under the rug, but I just couldn’t anymore.
The fact still remained though, I was the one who was adamant that I would never settle for second best in a relationship again. And given what Adam’s friends said about this ex girlfriend of his, I just… I didn’t know what that meant for him and I as a couple. Because I certainly hadn’t just been able to ignore my feelings when they surfaced a few months back… Why would I be able to now?
It just made no sense to me.
“Fine. Okay, you’re right. What am I supposed to do when I see him though? I have no idea what to say but there’s… So much I wanted to say. You know, that last night.”
Cordelia nodded in agreement. I swallowed hard and started to walk towards the ticket line out front of the arena again, my breath catching in my throat when he walked right past me, flanked on either side by Matt and Nick Jackson. They seemed to be arguing about something. I got so caught up in staring at him, this odd sense of calm settling over me at the sight of him… Like I was coming home.
I almost didn’t call out to him, but Cordelia gave me a hard nudge in my side and I grumbled, looking at her. She nodded towards where they stood, just a few feet away and I took a deep breath, my mouth opening and…
Nothing came, naturally.
But in the time that I did that, Kenny Omega walked past, heading towards them and he saw me. Nodding towards Adam, who yes, I was staring intently at all over again, he gave me a thumbs up and as soon as he stood with the others, he tapped Adam’s shoulder.
Adam turned and we both froze. After a few heavy tension filled seconds, I finally managed to raise a hand and give a small and friendly wave. He bit his lip, staring at me almost as if he weren’t sure I was actually here or if he was imagining it.
And then I was moving. Running, shoving through the lingering crowd between us. We wound up meeting halfway and he stood there a second as if he were deciding what to do.
Then I was being lifted off the ground an inch or two and squeezed tight.
“Darlin?” that soft and heavy accent was music to my ears. I took a deep breath and tried to focus… To remind myself that I’d come here with a very specific purpose in mind.
A purpose that was rapidly being forgotten in the depths of those baby blue eyes… Or the honest to god actual smile on his face. He looked so happy to see me, I almost questioned whether I’d ended things first or he had. His forehead rested against mine as he set me back down on my own feet again, a hand raising, resting against the side of my neck as his fingertips grazed against my cheeks lightly.
“I have to say this. I came all this way.” I pleaded, biting my lip as I met his gaze. His face fell a little, but for once, rather than just go quiet, he spoke up first.
“Not until I have my say.”
,, or that works too..” my brain reasoned and I went silent, giving a nod to indicate I was waiting.
“The past few months have been hell on me, okay? I dunno what I was thinkin exactly,” Adam stopped, going silent and looking down. That sliver of hope I didn’t even realize I still had started to grow before I could stop it. I reached up, lightly gripping his chin and guiding his eyes to mine.
“And?” I asked, my voice shaky.
“I was wrong. Breakin up with you is the last thing I wanted… I… It took a while, okay? But I realized somethin…”
I raised a brow, waiting. My breath caught in my throat and mostly to have something to do with my hands, I twisted a strand around my finger. “Yeah?”
“My friends were all wrong. I love you. Took me bein’ away to see that. Then I came to tell ya as soon as I realized and I saw you out with some guy.”
I knit my brows together, trying to remember who he could’ve seen me with and I bit my lip, expression going a little sour. “Yeah, that asshat and I didn’t work out.” I admitted as I shook my head.
His eyes lit up and he asked quietly, “What about now?”
“Well… if he’s being serious and he can assure me that I am not his second choice… There is a guy…” I hinted, staring up at him, waiting on it to sink in.
As soon as he did, I got lifted off my feet again, noisy kisses settling clumsily against my face and lips. I gave a soft laugh but pulled back, searching his eyes.
“I mean it, Adam. I can’t just be the one you pick because the one you want moved on.”
“You’re not, darlin’. You never have been, okay? Matt put that idea in your head or somethin?” he asked as he eyed me in concern, setting me back onto my own feet and then turning to glare at Matt Jackson who stood nearby. I turned his gaze back to me and shook my head as it suddenly sank in for me…
I’d taken it upon myself to let all the stories about his ex get to me. I’d let myself believe that if his friends talked about her so much then he had to still feel something deep down… The fact of the matter was now that I thought back, Adam hadn’t really mentioned her all that much.
Suddenly, I felt like the world’s biggest idiot.
“I’m so sorry.” my hand raised to my mouth and I stood there, staring up at him. “I’m the one who needs to apologize. I had it all wrong and instead of telling you, I did what I always do and I buried it…” my gaze dropped to my feet as I trailed off, going quiet as the full reality of just how miserable I’d allowed me to make myself really sank in for me.
Cordelia was right, I needed to start dealing with pretty much everything better than I did. Starting now.
“Darlin, you’re not the one who ended things?” Adam eyed me, a little confused until I explained why I’d been on edge so much towards the end. He clenched his fists, glaring back at Matt and I directed his gaze back to me yet again.
“All they were doing was telling stories, okay? They never really did anything with bad intentions. It was me and my own fucked up line of thinking… Because of that stuff I told you about when we first got together.”
“About Sean and your daddy.”
“Mhm.. I just… started to freak out a little. And obviously, it was dumb. But honestly, Adam… Tell me the truth when I ask this, okay?” I paused, waiting on him to indicate that he understood.
“You know me, darlin.”
“If this hadn’t gotten to me… If you hadn’t panicked too and we would have just kept going.. Things wouldn’t have a chance of being better now… Right?” I finished, stepping closer to him and staring up, busying myself by toying with the front of his shirt.
And then it hit him what I was getting at, that I wanted to be with him and I wanted to try again and his face lit up. He stepped closer, mulling over what I asked. After a few seconds, he nodded thoughtfully. “Was still the worst few months I’ve had in a while, darlin.”
“But.. we made it and we’re here.. What we do going forward won’t be filled with doubts or fears, either… At least.. Not on my end.” I promised, taking a deep breath and waiting. Adam nodded and smiling, he caressed the side of my face, lowering his mouth to mine. “Mine either, darlin. I promise. If anything is botherin me, I’ll talk to ya.”
“And I promise I’ll do the same instead of going into retreat and just letting it brew.” I promised, nipping hungrily at his lower lip. His fingers dug into my lower back and he pulled me closer, chuckling quietly against my mouth. “I am curious, though..”
“Yeah?” I asked as I worked on catching my breath when we broke the kiss and pulled away from each other just the smallest bit.
“What’d that guy I saw ya with do to ya that had you scowlin like that?”
“The guy was an actual fucking douchebag, okay? Just… ugh.” I shook my head and he laughed, pulling me against him a little. “Let me go get you a ticket.”
“Adam, no. I’ve got it.”
He eyed me but Cordelia made her way back over, slipping me a ticket. I bit my lip and looked at her. “You’re not saying?”
“Hell no! They’re doing a Magic Mike type thing at one of the casinos. Mommy got paid tonight. Mommy’s gonna go stuff her money down some lucky guy’s waistband.”
“Jesus Christ, Cordie.”
“You two have a lot of catching up to do. Actual talking.” Cordelia reminded me solemnly and I nodded. “Meet you back at our hotel room after then?”
“Or you could just take your sweet time… I intend to take mine.” she gave a teasing wink as she waved goodbye to us and made a beeline for the exit.
“So… I should go grab my seat.” I muttered, reluctant to leave him just yet. It felt so fucking good, his arms wrapped around of me. The scent of his cologne filling my nose. He tilted my chin, giving me another deep kiss to leave me breathless and then asked me with a gentle smile, “We’ll meet up out here after the show, right?”
“Definitely. It’s like you said.. We have a lot of catching up to do.”
“Yes we do, darlin.” Adam agreed, doubling back for one more kiss and a lingering hug before finally realizing he had to get to the back to get ready for the night.
And I smiled to myself as I watched him walking away.
This time, things will be different. I can feel it.
