Thanks Lost in Code AU for making me create lore for characters I dug out of Toby Fox & temmi Chang's trash cans.
Anyways, meet the skeleton family! (WIP design)
Grandma Hardinge (Redacted),
They/it/She
it's very old - it was around before the war. She isn't even a skeleton! She's a phantom (type of undead monster) & why gaster doesn't have a nose - she doesn't have a nose either. She wears a long black robe... Dress? Undecided. I don't think she has hands either, she may use her hair to manipulate things! She's a little rusty in her own font (Hardinge) so she speaks in wingdings most of the time, but she'll make an effort to refresh her mind, she wants to connect with her grandsons after all!
Grandpa Semi, Semi serif
He/him
Tired old southern Grandpa, not as old as Hardinge, definitely not, but still elderly. He was born underground & he's never seen the sun. He thought Gaster's fascination with the surface was just a dream brought about from Hardinge's stories & hopeless reminiscing but he was actually proud of him when he became the royal scientist. He doesn't have a hatred for humans, he remembers the days of the first human child that was found. They seemed like a sweet child but a little shaken, no one was really sure what to make of them - to be honest it didn't even really seem like they came from the surface.
Gaster's childhood made him sterner, dealing with a not entirely corporeal baby that can teleport & fade away at will probably does that to a person. Sans & papyrus were a bit different though. The two used to play pranks on him when they were younger, while he was grumpy he wasn't bitter, he'd join along when his old bones would allow. I'm not sure about his magic right now
W.D. Gaster
He/him
Proud father and former Royal scientist! Gaster is a phantom & a skeleton! He can go non-corporeal whenever he pleases as well as teleportation. He wears a white turtleneck and a long black robe, his hands are separate from his body and usually float near his form. He retired from the role of Royal scientist not long after having his children, though no fully as he helped tutor alphys for her new role. He moved to Snowdin with his boys when Papyrus was around 11 years old as he was looking for a fresher start than what the capital had to offer. Hardinge & Semi moved in a bit after - to get closer with their grandsons.
-- Character dialogue if Hero chooses to interact w/ them! --
Breaking the barrier:
Semi, "The surface? BAH! What's the point? These old bones don't see no point in leavin' the caverns. Why go up there, I heard the temperature can change on a whim! If I wanna be boiled I'll go to hotland. But... Suppose' I can't be to stubborn. Good job yougin'."
Hardinge, "I... Am glad....I...can see...the...Sun....again...a thousand...years...is a....long....long time..."
Gaster, "Amazing! I can't believe we'll finally see the surface, do you think they'll be interested in my theories? What kind of technology do you have up there? I should stop rambling... Good job, human."

a while back i saw someone draw darkner sans as a halloween decoration and they meant it as a joke but the idea that they were originally like the holiday family’s halloween decorations is kind of growing on me LOL. sans is one of those cute dancing skeletons with a voice box who wiggles around and tells jokes when you press a button. papyrus is a mummy skeleton door hanger with a proximity sensor who cackles and says riddles and rattles his bones when kids go up to knock on the door. wingdings is one of those shitty bargain bin decorations with an unclear concept like he’s a 3’ tall plastic skeleton in a ragged lab coat with some kind of fucked up scream mask glued to his face for no obvious reason. is he supposed to be a mad scientist? a wraith? no one has any fucking clue but he was 5 dollars on sale at the drugstore in mid-november and your 8 year old child insisted on spending her allowance on this and how are you supposed to say no to that. he either has no voice box or his voice box is so unbelievably shitty and cheap that everything that comes out is just tinny garbled nonsense. the sheer cheapness and inscrutability of the product somehow makes it so much creepier than it should be in theory. the holiday parents fucking hate it and it scares the shit out of noelle and makes her cry but kid dess is obsessed with this horrible fucking thing she calls it “dr. ghastly” and hugs it like a teddy bear and has tea parties with it and takes it with her everywhere and she does this for years until like 7th grade when the other kids finally bully her out of it and she tearfully casts it down to the halloween box in the basement while her family quietly breathes a sigh of relief

THE UNIFIED DEFINITIVE, CONCLUSIVE, COMPREHENSIVE AND UTTERLY CORRECT THEORY OF SKELETON WORLD DOMINATION AKA.......EXTENDED FONT FAMILY!
[ Plaintext: The unified definitive, conclusive, comprehensive and utterly correct theory of skeleton world domination aka.......Extended font family! ]
Don't you just fuckin. LOVE concept art?
Well if you don't...WORRY NOT!! BECAUSE I DO!!!! AND I SPENT OVER TEN HOURS OVER THE COURSE OF SUMMER MAKING ......
(Plaintext: Well if you don't...Worry not!! Because I do!!!! And I spent over ten hours over the course of summer making ......)
Well, listen. UwU
[ ID: Photo of a page from creator Toby Fox's notebooks containing Undertale concept art. The first design seen is a skeletal figure with huge teeth that clamp together and also show a bit of the jaw holes. His eyes are simple black holes. Tobys notes read: 2nd boss is a skeleton. Named Papyrus( The name Times New Roman is crossed out). To the crossed out text an arrow point and reads "I was raised by a newspaper". The proto-Papyrus says some lines in signature all caps. " I take what I want, when I want it. " " I'm a man's man."
'Wears a fedora when you date' is the note above a drawing of the design wearing a fedora. He says " How do you like my style." Someone else cuts in with " Russ, we need to talk." More lines say," Hello my darling, I've made spaghetti." He crunches on it and says " It's a little rare."
A far off note reads " has a brother named comic sans" and then blacked out text shows " and a....named..." only clippings of words. End ID]
This is PAPYRUS....later to be known as PAPYRUS SENIOR, alias RUSS. His personality is pretty on display in the page given. Since he's based off Dedan from OFF for the face, maybe he has a rude, irritating streak too?
[ ID: Photo of a page from the Undertale concept art book for Sans' concepts. A concept of him labelled 'firstsans.png' with a more frog-like face possessing a big skull, an odd mouth that is straighter at the edges but inflates at the center, thinner nose, eyes with big pupils is circled in red. End ID]
The one circled in red is his brother, firstsans. He owns an illegal casino somewhere out of sight. His outfits the same as the unused one for Sans that is open jacket, visor cap, trousers, sneakers.
[ ID: A concept art of Papyrus showing him with a smoother head, a fedora, prominent eyebrows above eyeholes with rectangular-slit pupils and mediumly sized teeth framed by fangs. End ID]
This is Russ' husband, TIMES NEW ROMAN. They bonded over their mutual obsession of My Little Boney, their fedoras fell in love, and they tied the knot. They still argue over whether Twilight Sparkill should've ascended to immortally rotten lichdom or not though. Anyway, Roman himself was raised by a newspaper.....
youtube
Said newspaper is none other than GRANDPA SERIF, a once-powerful publisher of few spoken words himself who may or may not also be involved with mob activities.
Russ and Roman have babybones in whatever way monsters do, and their fonts are found out to be comic sans and PAPYRUS( JUNIOR ). Papyrus kind of hates the junior part though so he usually drops it.
There is a third brother, the oldest of the three and the oddball font in the family, because he was adopted after being found lost in the Human-Monster war( Wait up I just realised it was like Centuries ago. Maybe Gaster kind of just took up the role of older bro later on to fit in more cuz it felt right??? IDK man, monsters weird) . His speech is usually fast-paced, scattered, and punctuated with a great-many hand motions( Papyrus picks these up later to dramatic heights). He is also of a scientific temperament, even working with Sans later on. His soon-to-be forgotten name...is WINGDING GASTER.
[ ID: A simple headshot sketch of fanart involving my own Gaster interpretation. He has a long head interrupted by upwards-facing spikes protruding from the cheeks. The bottom head part is much like a Gaster Blaster's mouth with a middle split. His eyes are long and form a stretched beanlike downward-heading shape. His nosehole is like a long, thin upside-down heart. He wears a fullbody covering black Howie lab coat. End ID]
Anyway, Sans and Papyrus live away from their family now but they see them over reunions. They also re-meet a few more members...they don't really know how exactly they're related to them but they show up anyway.....
[ ID: A tweet from @ tobyfox with more Papyrus concepts that have a Toriel added beside them for reference. The tweet says " These were @ tuyoki's first attempts at Papyrus's sprite. He looked too cool and not goofy enough though, so I changed his eyes and scarf. "
The sprites are near-identical except for minor variations such as height and teeth size et cetera. Their basic design is similar to Papyrus' overworld sprite but with more gaping black eyes, a tattered scarf that flares out like a popped collar. Overall a more serious look. End ID]
These cool looking skeletons form a IDENTICAL QUINTUPLET QUINTET BAND. Name pending if anyone has any suggestions pls drop
[ ID: A page with a lot of Papyrus concepts much closer to his final version. However they look off with sketchy poses and body parts, crudely drawn faces, and a bunch in the middle performing what appears to be some sort of dance move or attack. Most of the ones with a clear undergarment look like a skirt or some mound-shaped underwear. The last one is the crudest concept, standing fashionably with his hand on his hip and a smile. He is basically a stickman in white filled by pixels. End ID]
Most of these persons, collectively known as PAPYRII, are skeletons of a much older age from when monsters and humans lived in harmony. Many of them also fought in the War or were involved somehow. Now they harbor a host of old injuries, and a somewhat generally different countenance to the newer-born generation. They're kinda wary of Sans:
[ ID: Meme of the girls in the party holding soda cups, the girls are turning and looking judgementally at whoever came in. End ID
Kids these days. Yanno.
[ ID: A closeup image of the last Papyrus concepts as described before. End ID]
However firstpapyrus is usually a much chiller sort than the Papyrii. He is rumored to be one of the first skeletons ever created. He refuses to wear clothes because he claims their natural state is to exist nudely, slurp spaghetti, and make art. Don't be fooled though he's Seen Some Shit.
--
[ GIF description: A low poly skeleton head holds a trumpet and doots it, slightly turning around and back again. End description]
Thank you for reading, undead conspirators
[ Plain text: Thank you for reading, undead conspirators]
BTW I dunno when I'll do something with all this stuff so if anyone wants to use these ideas go ahead! Just ask me before hand first, give some basic detail, and credit.

New Deltarune Egg Theory:
Part A:
- Gaster uses wingdings
- EGG in wingdings is 👈🏽👈🏽☝🏽 or something
- 👈🏽👈🏽☝🏽 is the chess movement for the knight piece
Part B:
- Toby makes music
- Music files have the extension .ogg
- .ogg looks like EGG
Part C:
- Kris gets egg
- Kris gets knighted
- Kris is knighted by Gaster
Part D:
- Kris goes to Asgore's fridge
- Kris puts egg in fridge
- tfw there is already egg
Part E:
- Asgore was Undertale's king
- Kings knight their - uh, knights. They give knighthood.
- Asgore is not the king in Deltrarune, but still has delicious EGG
- Kris' EGG is optional
- Kris would technically be a prince(?) Or princess(?)
- Asriel is their older brother
- Monarchy goes from oldest to youngest
Part F:
- Kings give knighthoods
- We don't know who the knight is yet
- Toriel could have the real royal bloodline (in which case, Asriel and Kris are royalty through her, not Asgore), but I am - for the purposes of this - assuming it's through Asgore so I don't have to kill Toriel in this theory
- Getting Asgore out of the family moves the ruling power to Asriel (assuming a divorce counts)
- Asriel can now knight someone
Part G:
- Asriel is now in Kris' way
- Get rid of Asriel
- Acquire castle town to rule
- Kris can now knight someone
Part H:
- Papyrus had an egg during Undertale
- Sans baked a quiche in Undertale
- Gaster is giving you eggs in Deltarune
- This all seems pretty suspicious
THEORY:
by the power of egg, Kris will recruit a whole court peacefully, binding those knights to fight for them - probably by giving them one of Asgore's soul-flowers. Ralsei will be the king of Castle Town, and they'll all defeat the Roaring as friends.
Unless Kris emotionally broke the people they wanted to recruit (like Noelle), and gets six 'knights' that way, leaving Kris to kill Asgore to get that delicious final egg to convert the last person, thereby becoming a king with seven of their own knights.
tl;dr - egg is knight

I Just Realized Gaster’s Family Name Might Be Wingdings Instead of Gaster
it just hit me while I was drawing,
that Gaster’s family name, the one that most fans
would have both him and his sons or brothers (depend how you see Gaster) be called Gaster at the end of their names,
might not really be the real last/family name of them.
but now I have the headcanon theory,
that not only is Gaster, isn’t his family name.
you know how in some places, the family name comes first
before the given name to the son/daughter/child...?
if this theory is true,
that means that Papyrus and Sans,
they are Wingdings Sans and Wingdings Papyrus.
well I do see the brother version of Gaster,
being separate from the father version,
and the two versions just being father and son,
and the brother Gaster, “Gaster Jr.”
being the elder brother of Sans and Papyrus.
I kind of want to call the brother version "Agrest"
which is like a Anagram of Gaster.
so Wingdings Gaster Sr. goes by “Gaster”
while Wingdings Gaster Jr. goes by “Agrest”
Gaster being the father of the three skelebros,
while the brother version of Gaster, who is called “Agrest” by one fan so far,
will be the son of the Dadster and also the elder brother of the other two.
I’m not sure how many other fans would agree to “Gaster Jr./The Gaster-Brother” version, going by the fan name Agrest.
it is pronounced just like Adrian’s Family Name,
from Miraculous Ladybug & Chat Noir.
it is just spelled without the extra ‘e’ in it.
we all get different fan theories, and not all of them have to be a correct.
maybe I will talk about this theory more at another time.
I also wanted to try to get around to throwing some of that salt on my pendulum tonight, but I think I will wait until tomorrow to do so.
also I think I want to draw a second Tuckrif ship drawing,
maybe either tomorrow or whenever I’m able to get around to it.
also if there are others who uses a pendulum,
and are still a bit new to it and haven’t done it very long.
make sure not to believe the replies it gives you all the time,
even if you can believe some of it, there are chances it will be hacked by negative energy, and it will end up either pranking you or just full out lying to you just to be mean instead of playful.
well that is how I view it.
I will sign back on in a few hours, or in other words, tomorrow.
but not right away, I mean it might not be a few hours when I sign back in.
I just want to go back to relaxing and try to go back to watching a movie.
I also want to say, that I might of been unsuccessful in trying to find a place that is better than Youtube, where no one will get hurt by the negative side of who ever is running Youtube.
even if Youtube is still good, and it still has it’s good side.
there is still some problems with it, that I hope someday will be fixed.
this video --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTGufMkHfZI
it’s important to keep children safe,
but do NOT blame the content, blame the parents.
before you check out the link, I want to say that know from experience.
like seeing a movie I was not old enough to see,
wasn’t even a teenager yet at all or some other family movies,
that had hinted “snu-snu.”
there should be a child lock app that keeps little kids from seeing content they are not suppose to.
another problem about the blaming the content,
is that when you let your baby who started talking,
and you let them watch a show or movie, with a bad word in it,
and they will repeat it, which is just what I did when I was a baby.
Vimeo and PeerTube, I’m not sure if those two will be the best alternative.
Vimeo seems still a little good, but it doesn’t seem what I’m truly looking for.
I could still check it out once in a while I guess.
at least show creators who trust Youtube,
do put info at the start of the video, that it isn’t for kids.
when Youtubers do make it clear that their channel isn’t for Kids,
then he parents should make sure that you try to keep a eye on your kids.
you can’t just blame on the mature content that isn’t for them in the first place.
I can admit that my Mom made some mistakes,
like letting me be in a room where a show or movie was on,
and I was just a baby, maybe around a toddler at the time,
and I repeated the “B” word.
not knowing any better.
if we want to keep everyone safe, there needs to be improvement on Youtube,
where they don’t hurt anyone or let false reports happen,
where a video that has been up way longer, ends up being taken done because of what some other Youtuber reported.
until Youtube can try to do better and improve itself,
and stop hurting so many Youtubers,
there needs to be a true Alternative place to go to other than Youtube,
that you can post amv, original show work, music videos,
but only YOUR original work, unless you get REAL permission to sub or dub a Game Music Video or Animated Music Video,
or get real permission to dub or sub the pilot of Viviziepop’s original
work, like Hazbin Hotel, as well as their pilot and episodes of Helluva Boss.
or if you take Hazbin Hotel Pilot, and breaking into parts,
one person from Youtube has done this, and I know trying to get through to them is not possible, I haven’t talked to them.
but from what I can see, they and those that follow them, wont listen to reason or understand the feelings of others.
there is called fair use, like when you use some art or clips
to make a music video, but you need to make sure to give credit to the original owners, and also make sure if you write in the description,
that anything related to the original owner, is visible
and not make it not visible at all, and you can only see it
when you press the “show more button”
too many Youtubers get hurt, and it’s not fair.
even if there is still some good on Youtube,
it is still slightly corrupted, and it needs to be healed.
plus you will have to worry about other people
stealing Comic Dubs, that belong to the original people who dub it,
who most, had got permission from the original artist.
but with how some comics are, it isn’t possible to get the permission,
the best you can do is try to put the info at the start of the video,
and make sure there is no misunderstandings.
I still like Youtube, but I just don’t like how it ends up hurting others.
and I don’t like that it took me until now,
to know the problem isn’t the content, but the parents.
mine being one of them, but I don’t think my mom would of let me watch the really REALLY mature stuff when I was little.
but the point is, I was still exposed to it, even if it was just a mild stuff.
I can watch some mature stuff now.
but I now have the knowledge to know that the parents are to blame,
they don’t keep a better watch of their kids,
and even if they do let their kids watch stuff or play video games,
that AREN’T FOR THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE.
the parents will just turn it around and place the blame on the content
instead of themselves.
if I could make a Royal Decree, it would be that all parents,
should get a child lock on their child’s computer,
make sure there is a password place,
that hides really mature content, even working on Youtube so any Mature stuff on there, can not be seen.
I have little trust in Youtube, because of the stuff that has been happening on it.
it makes me worried about some of the channels I had been watching so far.
like besides Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss.
I worry about any fan animation that can either do with Undertale,
or Invader Zim.
and I think there are others that I might not be able to name.
but the point is, that if Youtube and whoever is running it,
wants to try not to break anymore hearts.
then there needs to be a app that is a child lock
that the browser will be linked to, and will have a password,
where it will make it impossible for little kids to watch mature stuff by accident.
and if you need to write the password on paper,
because not being able to remember all passwords, cause I know that feeling.
then make sure to keep the child lock password in a very secret place,
maybe where your child can’t find it.
that way they wont be able to use it.
if I ever become a parent someday, I’m gonna make sure to NEVER make the same mistake my Mom or those who were watching me did.
or the mistakes that some parents make now.
placing the full blame on the content, instead of themselves.
I’m going to try to keep hoping, that Youtube will improve.
and it will stop hurting other Youtubers.
I think after I watch the Hotel Transylvania 3 Movie I’m watching,
I will go watch Camp Camp over on Rooster Teeth Site.
anyway, I hope to talk more about the whole “Wingdings” is Gaster’s family name, at another time.
I still hope to draw Tuckrif (Red Vs Blue: Tucker x Grif)
when I can.
and I hope some of you can respect my feelings about what is going on,
and how the ones who should take responsibility
is the parents, who need to try to find a way to make that child lock,
that can keep a child safe, if they have their own computer or if they don’t,
get your child their own computer and then place the child lock in it,
and make sure it has a password that only you know or have wrote down and keep in a very secret place that they have no idea about.
if we want to improve the internet safety, then that is one of the first steps.
so no one will get emotionally hurt because parents don’t realize,
that we saw that content because of you, and you should of tried to keep us from it until we were the proper age.
my mom being one of them, I still love my mom,
but even I know now that her letting me see stuff I was not ready for.
was still irresponsible, and all parents should acknowledge this.
I even had to stop my little cousin from trying to play my Deadpool Game once,
lucky they didn’t get very far, but still...no one even bothered to stop them or make sure they didn’t try to play it.
I even had to start to hide some of my mature games and even movies when they came over.
anyway if you haven’t already, please check out the link.
and maybe someday the type of child lock I mentioned,
will be made someday, and maybe someone will make a petition for such a lock,
that way no more people get hurt, and parents will take more responsibility.
and maybe even listen more to their son or daughter.
and whatever the gender neutral form for son/daughter is
(I will need to look it up), when they try to tell them something is wrong,
and they know something isn’t right.
or if your child doesn’t want to get on the bus because the school and their teacher’s had traumatize them and that is why they are shaking from being upset.
anyway like I said, please check out the link to that youtube video that talks about the serious stuff going on.
maybe by next year, youtube will become better and have the child lock on and keep those who are under age of 15, off of the mature stuff.
I can only hope so...I mean I want to hope that Season 15 of Red Vs Blue DVD gets on Amazon.
and SVTFOE and Wander Over Yonder get full DVDS
and stop being just “Prime Only”
and whoever made the complete series of the original Powerpuff Girls,
impossible to get right away, unless you save like a LOT of money.
well I’m gonna hope they lower the price someday.
not everyone can get the really high price that is past 100 and more,
I’m gonna just go and try to go back to watching that movie,
and hope things get better.
this was only suppose to be about the whole Wingdings is Gaster’s Family Name Theory, but then I remembered about wanting to show that link again.
see ya later and stay safe everyone, and try not to make the same mistake as your parents if you were exposed too early to mature content, and the parents place the full blame on the content instead of themselves.
but if you are one of the ones who were lucky not to end up that way,
I hope you can still be able to understand and be supportive about the real problem, which isn’t the content, but the parents who need to improve themselves and maybe be told by other parents who never made the same mistake as them, that the content isn’t the problem.

Sometimes I see the theory that Dess was a human.
I... guess it’s not impossible? But we know so incredibly little about Dess that I’m really, really hesitant to say it’s very likely, either. The theory seems to be based entirely off of ‘Sans said ‘the antlered girl and her big sis!’ This implies the big sister may not have had antlers! Humans don’t have antlers! Maybe Dess is human!’
But... dogs, rabbits, bears, and cats don’t have antlers either. All of those kinds of monsters live in Snowdin. By this logic, maybe C Holiday and Dess Holiday were cat monsters, or dog monsters, or even squid monsters. It feels like claiming everything with four legs must be a chair, when tables exist.
It also feels really, really weird for a hint about Dess being ‘human’... to come from Undertale. Y’know. The game where all monsters have a far more important and pressing reason to take notice of humans than in Deltarune. It could be that Toby was trying to avoid spoilers but... it begs some pretty major questions about ‘how the hell did the Holiday family manage to hide A HUMAN so completely for an indeterminate period of time’??? Or what happened to her soul if they didn’t manage it?? I feel like things between Rudy and Asgore would be a LOT more awkward than ‘wistful regrets and nostalgia’ if Dess were indeed a human. (Unless we’re using No Mercy to present Asgore as being completely clueless in this theory)
It just seems really early to call it either way.
...On a tangentially related note. It’s always interesting how fandom takes a bunch of really little clues about a character and extrapolates a more complete picture from it, which may or may not completely be accurate. Gaster being a skeleton and possibly the skelebros’ dad due to speaking in Wingdings and having some connections to Sans and Papyrus. Chara being portrayed as a vicious serial killer even before No Mercy, because that’s the only context in which we talk to them face to face. Sweet widdle angel Asriel who can do no wrong because he tried talking about Flowey as a different person from him. Dess being the cool and sporty tomboy type, because Noelle mentioned she hit Kris with a wiffle ball once. I wonder how accurate the fandom’s portrayal of Dess will really turn out to be?

Two parts of a same entity (6 SOULs Gaster)
*Deeply inhale* OKAY! SO!
Since I had this idea/theory of Gaster being the fusion of a monster and a human, I kept thinking about it and involontarily started to develop him. And by him, I mainly mean the two people forming him and their past. Along with the six fallen children I was already working on.
So here are kind of the key steps or scenes that helps understand a little both of their life.
Must be obvious but the two aren't evoluing together, G's first drawing would actually start around Kindness (Camille) time.
WingDings met and befriended/helped/tried to help/took care of almost all 6 fallen children (Charlie, Noa, Sam, Jill and Camille) and was since long an adult when he found G (Gizmo Aster).
G on his side really just befriended Juliette Necto, and stayed a non-adopted child because of his quirkyness and then deadly sickness, fatal familial insomnia (I kid you not, it really exists and that was just too perfect not to use it). So yeah, after his unusual fall in the Underground, he wouldn't even have been able to face Asgore.
They had A LOT in common, so the fusion went very well, creating the mad, nice and powerful genius scientist W.D. Gaster. It lasted years until he fell in his creation. Also, didn't draw it (because it was enough work already ovo”) but he's also Sans and Papyrus's only birth parent (that says how powerful he was).
Whew! I think it's the first time I'm showing most of the kids colors? Definitely the first time I tried to color Semi and Chela though (Widy's parents).

Whats your theory on sanses name?
I mean for the most part when it comes to characters' names, I think they usually just have names because that's just what they're named. Sometimes this differentiates based on culture, such as many Asian names having important meanings to them or their family, but for most white American people, names are chosen hap-hazardly or it's just a name they like, or from what I've seen. I can't speak for mosnter culture being the same way, but it does have many similaties to American societal norms, probably more due to the fact that this is an American game more than anything, however.
The only thing that really sticks out as a common theme amongst monster names is familial names are similar to some degree. Asriel, while definitely intended to be a anagram of "serial," is still related to Asgore and Toriel's names. Napstablook and Mettaton, while this may be not necessarily canon since it was delivered as a joke; but Papyrus refers to Napstablook's cousin as "Hapstablook," which either was just a joke on Napstablook's name or actually referenced ghost naming conventions.
(Comic) Sans and Papyrus are both related to font names, and there is hinted although not necessarily confirmed relation between them and W.D. Gaster, whose name is pretty often interpreted as Wingdings due to that being what he speaks in; and "Gaster" is most similarly compared to the font "Aster," which is also what I personally use when writing him speaking in not wingdings. There's also a file in Undertale that's a sound effect used in I think the Tem Village if I remember correctly, and it's called like "grandpasemi.ogg" or something, "Semi" being part of the typeface "Semi Serif," which is easily comparably to "Sans Serif" typeface by name, anyway. While Grandpa Semi as a character was not included in the final of Undertale (possibly replaced by Gaster), from what I understand he was meant to be Sans and Papyrus's grandfather.
So. TL;DR: It's probably a familial name.

Newborns
On Ao3.
"I can do this; I can do this." The scientist's fingers run through the keyboard's keys as if he was playing a melody that only he could hear. Three monitors glowed with the information he required. More and more calculations followed each other, but all the simulations came up with the same result.
His chair squeaked slightly beneath him as he leaned back.
I should finally oil it, he reminded himself again for the up tenth time. The thought, however, vanished almost immediately as he focused on his studies again.
Everything was ready. He glanced over his shoulder. Silently gazed at the tanks and the prototype of the machine he created. It was reminiscent of a robust and a dozen times magnified injector into which two tubes were connected, they ran towards two tanks. Not far from him, a bluish and yellowish dot floated up and down, safely in their containers.
If it works, I will be able to progress much faster and much more efficiently.
He started typing another program, entering new lines data and preparing everything. Behind him, the structure buzzed like it was being alive.
I can do this, he repeated to himself as he pulled his arm out of his white lab coat. I must do this. His coworkers were already overworked. Moreover, the last human soul had the needed pattern. He was finally able to put his theory into practice. He was sure he would finally succeed for the first time.
I can do this!
At first the lights just began to flicker, then for a short time the whole lab was engulfed in darkness. Reserve energy got turned on almost immediately, but researchers still didn’t have time to get up.
The painful scream echoed throughout the building.
It didn't take all of three minutes until several monsters were at the door being busy to open it up. The code was hacked with great precision, but as the entrance was revealed they all stopped in shock.
There were three monsters inside.
"Why didn’t you kept an eye on Dr.Gaster ! I gave explicit orders not to leave him alone!" Asgore, the king of monsters, let his anger flare for a moment, but immediately put a lid on it when he realized it wasn't helping anyone anymore.
Taking large steps, he walked down the hall, his smoldering anger was stoked by concern for the doctor. Once again, a monster, he deeply cared about, got injured.
He was followed by Stol, one of the leading royal scientists. The feline monster nervously closed one of his ears, trying to get the king to calm down. He was well aware that they have really messed it up when they underestimated Dr.Gaster.
"I know, sir, but we thought he was focused on the development of the Core. We couldn't guess... it was all on a theoretical level. Your Majesty, we had no idea he was working on the project in secret!"
The king just shook his head with a huff and slowed down enough so the scientist could catch up him to show the way. After three turns, they headed towards a door, in front of which a couple researchers stood hesitantly.
"I assume he's in there."
"Yes, Your Majesty, they took care of his injuries and now they need to rest...all three of them."
Asgore glanced at the monster questioningly, but soon made a decision.
"I want to talk to him face to face."
"But sir-" Seeing the king's gaze, Stol blew a hasty retreat "of course, sir." He adjusted his glasses and gently pushed aside his colleagues, who tried to pay no attention to them, then opened the door.
The king entered and waited for the door to close, but even after, he was unable to move or utter a word. All the small bits of information he got from Stol, and Gaster had been hinting at in the past month, now come together and become a complete picture.
Dr. Gaster told him about a potential new project, it was after he felt he wasn’t moving fast enough with research regarding the Core and breaking the barrier. He began to study human souls and the souls of monsters. He developed a theory that the soul of a monster, if infused with the correct amount of human magic and power, could create an another creature.
It was a well-known fact that the souls of humans and skeleton monsters were the closest to each other. Gaster himself was just as good in using magic to actual combat as a human.
If one treats the soul gently enough, if a small piece is chipped away from the right place, he explained enthusiastically on a quiet afternoon. There might be a way to create another monster with a soul similar to the original one. This new being might even have some of the original one's experience and knowledge. This would make research much faster.
Asgore, on the other hand, opposed the whole idea on principle, he had a bad feeling about it from the start. He suspected that the scientist was much further along this research than simply discussing theoretical possibilities. And he was concerned that Gaster might cause serious damage to himself, just to try to help the monsters. Of course, the scientist never understood that if he crossed a line, he might never be able to help anyone anymore, not even himself.
The king cursed himself for not listening to his intuitions.
"Gaster..." Asgore heard his own voice, it was muffled by the noises of the room.
The royal scientist was lying on a wide bed. Cables of varying thickness were attached to his body, all connecting into a single monitor to keep an eye on every little shudder of his soul. Another medical system, connected to the same monitor, also to watch two other tiny and very weak hearts.
Asgore took a few steps to take a closer look at the three of them. It was then when he noticed that the anger that had been smoldering inside him so far had almost completely subsided, all that remained was concern.
"Your Majesty," dark circles deepened under Wingdings' eyes. Maybe he hadn’t been able to sleep for days, maybe the life-threatening procedure had exhausted him that much. The king would have guessed that it was due to both of those things.
There were two tiny skeletal monsters sleeping in Gaster's arms, one's chest glowed in blue and the other's in yellow. They were so tiny they would have completely disappeared if they were in the king's arm.
"I...didn't...I thought..." Gaster's voice trailed off slightly. He pulled the two little monsters closer to him with his arms "I thought they were...but I didn't...they just..."
"Gaster," the king found the ground under his feet again. Maybe it was his friend's desperate voice that shook him to place.
"I don't…don't…I know…I don't know what to do with children. They…they…should be older." The monster sniffed, still holding the two newborns as carefully as possible. "My calculations…I'm not…they should be bigger, they're, they're just so small. I've never been good with…I don't even know...I'm not…Asgore..."
"Gaster, it's okay." Asgore placed his hand carefully on his shoulder. He hadn't seen his friend acting like this in a long time. He felt his heart break, he wanted to sacrifice so much, just so they can get out a little sooner. "It's okay. Please take a few deep breaths for my sake," he tried to use his kindest voice.
"But I..."
"It's okay. They're really lovely...newborns," the king took a seat in the chair by the bed. "I understand that there might be a lot going on your mind right now, but I think we should concentrate on your new family." He said with a gentle smile.
Gaster closed his eyes for a couple of seconds, took a deep breath and glanced down at the baby skeletons. For long minutes, the only thing could be heard where the beeping of the monitors.
Despite the pain in his body, he gently caressed the heads of the two tiny monsters. He watched them taking their small breaths. One of them, glowing with yellowish light, snuggled into his clothes as much as possible, while his brother began to snore slightly. Two tiny, innocent souls. Both came from his own. He slowly stroked their heads and watched with the two new lifes with gently admiration.
"I understand if you are angry with me, Your Majesty." He said seemingly gathering himself. "I didn't anticipate every possibility and now it will take even longer to break the barrier." The scientist fell silent again and he could feel an invisible bond forming between the three of them. His voice became softer.
"But I... I can't regret it. These children ..."
Asgore shook his head with a smile.
"I understand, my friend. Although you have experimented in secret, I think it all ended as well as it could have. Don't worry about the barrier right now. And we're talking about you, I'll bet you'll be on your feet and working much sooner than that would be recommended anyway."
"Well, I-"
"But these children are now your responsibilities. It's rare for a new life to be born here. Please take care of them."
Gaster remained silent for a few moments, then sighed slowly.
"Heavens, what I got myself into."
The king chuckled deeply and it was filled with warmth.
"Parenting is one of the biggest and noblest challenges in life. But knowing your habits of not sleeping, I think you'll be fine."
"Your Majesty..." Gaster sighed heavily, but he couldn't suppress the faint smile when he heard Asgore chuckle again. "In the future I might ask some advice. If it's okay..."
"Any time you want, my friend. I'll try to help with everything I know."
The two small skeletons moved slightly in their sleep and snuggled closer to Gaster, who became bluish in his embarrassment.
"Try to relax a bit, we will talk more after you wake up." Asgore smiled at him.
"Well…maybe…" Gaster suppressed a yawn as he let his head fall back on the pillow. "The materials are all there on my computer, and then I'll explain everything…but now… I…"
"We'll talk when you wake up as I said. I have to go now, you three deserve some sleep."
"I... yes, I think you're right." Gaster replied slowly closing his eyes "Thank you...Your Majesty..."
"Good night, my friend."
The king carefully adjusted the blanket on the slowly breathing skeleton family. He made sure that no one would bother Dr.Gaster, but to inform him as soon as he is awake.
As he walked down the hallways, he began to hum an old children's song under his breath. Memories he thought to be forgotten, flooded out filling his mind. For the first time in many years, the appearance of these memories filled his heart with warmth.

theory:deltarune is one of gaster’s experiments
apologizing ahead of time if this is written in a disorganized manner, also the fact that i veer off topic a couple times to just talk about ways the games are related. its very difficult to organize my thoughts when there is so much to consider despite the fact that this is like my fourth time rewriting this (woops)
theory: deltarune is one of gaster’s experiments. like the entire thing is an experiment.
if you’ve never heard who gaster is in relation to undertale, you should probably look into that first because that’s what this entire thing is about. tldr; he was the royal scientist before alphys, fell into his own experiment and “died” or disappeared. he is presumaby sans’s and papyrus’s father or a part of the family (assuming that w.d. stands for wingdings going along with the whole “named after the font they talk in” thing, especially considering the fact that the journal 17 hidden room is written in wingdings). although we don’t exactly know when gaster is in the timeline of the backstory, we can assume he was hired as the royal scientist to figure out how to get them out of the underground. we can probably assume that he worked with determination, considering that the one time he is visible in the game he appears kind of drippy, like the fact that that’s exactly why amalgamates even happened in true lab. also, the determination extraction machine - was gaster’s. there are blueprints in sans’s workshop, written in a code that frisk cant understand, as well as a broken machine covered by a sheet; we’re assuming that’s an old determination machine and sans translated the blueprints for alphys (she even says in a journal entry “i used the blueprints”). if the “creation” gaster fell in wasn’t the core, it might have been this, because once again he appears all melty like the amalgamates or undyne when she dies. gaster’s appearances in undertale kind of seem like random easter eggs about a character from the past, but i’m not convinced it’s unimportant; in both deltarune and undertale you cannot name your character gaster, it just restarts the game.
now onto why i think deltarune is an experiment: when you download the game onto your computer, the file saves as “SURVEY_PROGRAM.exe” which actually scared me a little bc i was scared i just downloaded a virus, plus the fact that the license agreement when i was installing it said “YOU AGREE TO EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS FROM NOW ON” or something like that. terrifying! and once you open the game it does survey you, asking you to create a vessel and name it as well as yourself, unlike undertale where you only name the first fallen human, chara. plus there is someone that talks you through the whole intro asking you these things, which seems very separate from the narrator of everything else that happens in the game. and i think that this is how gaster was experimenting with human souls; when you die and when you save, the game doesn’t focus on determination like undertale does. (the flipside of this is alphys experimenting how to break the barrier with monster souls and determination).
MY BIGGEST REASON WHY I THINK THIS THOUGH: journal entry 17 from gaster. the entire thing is talking about a darkness growing stronger and cutting deeper, saying “i think this next experiment is going to be very very interesting.” THE ENTIRE PLOT OF DELTARUNE CHAPTER ONE IS RESTORING BALANCE TO THE WORLD BECAUSE OF A FOUNTAIN OF DARKNESS MAKING THE DARK WORLD GROW STRONGER.
it’s also just very Funny(tm) to me that undertale has the surface and the underworld, and that deltarune has the light world and the dark world. there’s just! a very specific! kind of parallel there! like someone might have based it off of the concept of having a surface world and a world underneath!
one other fun thing: clam girl, a rare-appearance npc, talks about her neighbor “suzy” and how the protag should meet her. and once you talk to her, if you go to sans’s workshop, one of the drawers contains a poorly drawn photo of three smiling people the protag doesn’t recognize that says “don’t forget”. but only if you talk to clam girl! also goner clam girl, an even rarer npc, says that u never met suzy but the time to do so is “fast approaching.” i just think it’s interesting ;)))
about kris: i’m thinking that the soul kris out at the end is the player’s? maybe that’s a common theory, idk it probably is. like gaster just chose a human on the lightener world and said “here you go! here’s a soul! have fun being my experiment!” and this soul has more determination than kris; i saw this pointed out in a video, but the first time you play the game and you get to the first save point, you literally overwrite a save file under the name “kris.” in undertale, only the person with the most determination has the ability to save, which is why the only time flowey could save is when he had six human souls in his control, so we can assume the player has more determination than kris. also the fact that kris literally doesn’t emote at ALL the entire game, to me that makes it rlly clear that the soul they rip out is Not Good.
of course i don’t have all the answers! and this isn’t without holes, because yeah our information about gaster is limited and we only have one chapter of deltarune. something i realized today though: in undertale when you read the signs in waterfall, the last one mentions an angel who has seen the surface, presumaby asriel, come will back to free them all (which does happen in true pacifist!) the only other time an angel is mentioned in undertale is when you talk to gerson about the delta rune emblem; apparently the other bleaker take on the angel is an angel of death who’s a harbinger of destruction. SO ITS REAL INTERESTING I THINK that in the deltarune prophecy, it mentions that when the trio restores balance, they will “banish the angel’s heaven?” and somehow even after we closed the fountain (which btw i’m not convinced it worked) we don’t know what that means or what it’s referring to. but if we’re going off of the thought that undertale’s “angel” is asriel...... we bring in the theories about ralsei and asriel having something to do with each other, considering their names being anagrams and looking somewhat similar. also the fact that theyre probably related and asriel will make an appearance in the game in the future makes me nervous about that. THIS COULD BE A THING! WHO KNOWS. just wanted to point it out as well even though i don’t think it has anything to do with gaster.
ANYWAYS THIS IS A MESS but those are my thoughts on the ways that undertale and deltarune are related!!! and if anyone wants to add their thoughts feel free, i’m open to discussion
#undertale#deltarune#god damn#gaster#w.d. gaster#kris deltarune#asriel dreemurr#ralsei#delta rune#i tried proofreading and god my adhd brain says NO READ. ONLY WRITE#so i apologize if i messed something up lol

Send “📂“ for a random yet completely useless headcanon I have || Accepting!
gonna go with wingdingus since he still has that new muse smell
Wingdings is a family name and Gaster hates it. As a child he got the full rundown on the family tree, all the illustrious generations of Wingdings past, and he nodded politely for his tutors, before quietly just asking his Monster School Friends to please please please just call him by his last name. All his academic credits and journal publications were under “Dr. W.D. Gaster.” Most everyone in his life just calls him Dr. Gaster. No one calls him Wingdings unless they’re trying to annoy him. So naturally Sans did it constantly.
He used to go to Sans’ stand up comedy nights, but never sat in the audience. The two of them didn’t really have the best relationship, and Gaster didn’t want to throw him off his game. He’d usually just stand around awkwardly near the doors of the venue and listen in before ducking out near the end of the set. He almost never laughed at the jokes, but would smile if one got a particularly big reaction out of the crowd. Venue staff were confused by all of this but also he’s the Royal Scientist so nobody was gonna say shit to him about it.
Because Gaster places his entire value as a person on his ability to Do The Science Real Good, the few people he’s close to always end up with weird, single-use inventions of his designed to assist with Very Specific Problems they mention they’re having. After falling into the Core/being erased from memory, those inventions still exist, but no one remembers who created them or how they ended up with them.
When he was young, his father used to tell him that when he was old enough to drink, they’d share their first drink together, but as he died in the early months of the Human-Monster War, when W.D. was around sixteen or so, they never got that chance. He did take Sans out for his first drink (though he was 100% sure it wasn’t actually his first) to keep the tradition alive. He intended to do the same for Papyrus when he got older, but--never got the chance.
An unparalleled chatterbox when drunk, and with zero volume control to boot. He will go on neverending rants that are like a mixture of scientific jargon-filled technobabble and weird incomprehensible philosophizing about like idk the beauty and elegance of a parabola or something. He will also openly shittalk colleagues’ for their shitty theories when they are like one table away and clearly can hear him. He was a blast at office parties. (if he got drunk after getting Voided he’d probably just............ cry a lot lmao)

Sans The Skeleton
An overview of Sans life, from childhood to elder years.
“i was a lil’ shit.” — Clever boy with bright eyes.
Once a rambunctious child, Sans had always been a bit too clever for his own good and has often gotten himself in trouble as a result. His days were spent creating complex pranks to fill his time and sneaking around where he didn’t belong. He’s a surface born monster, born to a small village. Sans has both Skeleton and Nightwalker monster genetics and belongs to the Osteo family. His father, a doctor in human and monster biology, provided most of his early education.
He was still a boy when the war between monsters and humans ended, with monsters on the losing side. Sans father fled, without his sons, before the human soldiers could capture him. He most likely died along with other monsters who attempted an early escape. Sans, his baby brother Papyrus, and the other monsters were rounded up and led to what would become their prison. The brothers were largely raised by Mr. Muroidea, a Rat Monster who was the human equivalent of a clergy man. He passed away about 5 years after Monsterkind was imprisoned due to illness.
By that time, Sans was old enough to accept full responsibility for himself and Papyrus, and continued raising him while completing his education underground.
***
“are you aware that we’re making history?” — Dr. Osteo, Royal Assistant.
After completing his Underground Doctorate, Sans thesis on Quantum Mechanics, titled Interpreting Quantum Mechanics in Terms of Random Discontinuous Motion of Particles, earned him recognition in the scientific community. His previous externship for the Royal Laboratories led to numerous projects that garnered more attention toward his potential. Despite his relative youth and inexperience, Sans work and innovation earned him the position of Assistant to The Royal Scientist, Dr. Wingdings Gaster.
He was meant to eventually follow the Doctor in his footsteps as his protege. The duo known as Dr. Gaster and Dr. Osteo quickly became a team known for abolishing the impossible and making strides against insurmountable odds. Their professional relationship developed into a friendship over the years, bound by common goals and a relatable troubles.
Their team and their friendship began to fall apart with the introduction of DETERMINATION, pulled from fallen humans who found themselves among Monsterkind’s prison-hold. The CORE, which provided power for all of the Underground, became an unstable force that even Undergrounds Royal Scientists couldn’t conquer. Desperate measures were taken. Dr. Gaster and Dr. Osteo began to disagree on which line should remain uncrossed, and in the end, such a line divided their scientific partnership indefinitely.
*** “our reports showed a massive anomaly in the timespace continuum. timelines jumping left and right, stopping and starting...until suddenly, everything ends.” — The Fall.
Dr. Gaster became wiped from time, space, and memory, creating a fractured timeline. This left random holes of missing information in its wake, including the identity of Gaster and those who worked alongside him.
Due to the circumstances in which it happened, Sans retained memories of the previous unfractured timeline. He tried to retrieve Dr. Gaster and the other team members from what he coined The Void, including attempts of bringing theoretical time travel to fruition, but never showed complete success. Sans has multiple theories on The Void, what it is, where it is, and how his lost teammates are able to maintain a semblance of cognitive reasoning within it.
Early in his research, Sans discovered the possibility of communication between their plane and The Void, but soon found that the communication held little value. While seemingly aware, the monsters ability to convey information clearly was deteriorated. Sans theorizes that their mental capabilities are not whole within The Void, strewn apart like unraveled yarn dolls, leaving them with little more than mad ramblings.
Some time after the timelines fragmentation, The Royal Laboratory found reports of anomalies in the timespace continuum. Sans continued to monitor these reports as he researched The Void under the impression that they could be related. Eventually, he was able to pinpoint that a single living anomaly was the cause of the timelines erratic behavior.
Sans at first theorized that the anomaly (Flowey) was simply unhappy, and would stop toying with timelines if they could find companionship. Once the timespace continuum was stabilized, he hoped to breech The Void and restore the original timeline. After countless attempts of befriending and reaching a “happy ending”, as Sans dubbed it, this theory proved false. The anomaly continued to Reset regardless of its emotional state until a new anomaly (The Human) came along and appeared to usurp its power.
***
“i gave up trying to go back a long time ago.” — From Dr. Osteo to Mr. Funnybone.
With all efforts proven meaningless and all theories at a dead end, Sans essentially gave up trying to stop the Resets from occurring or extracting his teammates from The Void. He attempted to live a normal life despite what he knew. For a short time, he found escapism in comedy, dubbing himself “Mr. Funnybone” and taking comfort in the laughter of his fellow monsterkind. If they were going down, at least it would be after a good time.
The positive spin was difficult to maintain. Sans continued searching new methods of mental escape as old ways became numb. Eventually, however, every pleasure lost its luster and every comfort became dull. Occasionally he found himself drawn back to his lab and reports, but found no hidden answers among the dust.
Sans accepted existential nihilism as the only explanation for life and its absurdities. With this belief, he found it difficult to justify effort and goals, and spent some time unemployed while his savings dwindled away. He slept, he ate, he existed only by definition.
It was by push of his younger brother, Papyrus, that Sans bothered to take up another job. Sentry Duty is little more than booth babysitting, but the one tiny step sparked something in Sans that led to a reemergence of motivation. Long term goals were meaningless, he decided, but short term gratification could still have merit. He could still earn money to keep him and his brother in comfort. He could still partake in the simple pleasures of life, such as good food and good laughs.
Sans is aware that the time-space continuum will only take so much, and eventually, the fractures will destroy everything. He tries to simply enjoy the time that he has with the people he cares about, and maybe, one day, an answer to the timelines instability will appear. In the meantime, he just tries to keep everything from ending permanently— because hey, a slim chance is better than none, right?
*** “that, my friend, is called the sun.” — Freedom.
The timelines will never be returned to their original state, but the fragments are filled and anomaly's power is no more. With time, Sans begins to adjust to consistent timeline once more, free of Resets and impending doom (for now.)
Eventually, Sans revisits his abandoned goal of opening The Void. After much effort, he is finally, finally successful. With this, the final piece of the timeline is restored. Dr. Gaster, thanks in part to his injection of DETERMINATION, is able to survive the process of returning to their plane. Their teammates are not so fortunate. They leave their entrapment, but do not survive beyond The Voids hold.
There is no immediate mend to the broken friendship of Dr. Gaster and the previous Dr. Osteo. There is no immediate shift from Sans nihilistic tendency. He is aware, far more than the average mind is perhaps aware, that life as we know it is fleeting. The Timeline Fracture was only one of many possible interruptions on what many believe is guaranteed life. There is, Sans knows, no guarantee of anything.
As a result of his exposure to fractured timelines and resets, Sans short-term memory is deteriorating. While he is in his 30′s, it is hardly noticeable and has no impact on his daily life. When he is an elder, he will suffer fractions of short and long-term memory loss.
In rare moments, he will forget that he is no longer Dr. Osteo, and that his laboratory has long since been boarded up. He will forget that he is no longer Mr. Funnybone with an audience to attend to. He is only Sans. Sans, the skeleton. He loves his little brother and a well made burger. He enjoys trading jokes with a former Queen. He takes the anomaly to school on Wednesdays.
While his memories may be fading, Sans does not suppose that it is such a sad thing to forget once and awhile. After all, he still has some good food, some bad laughs, and some nice friends.
#|| character analysis ||#((This is actually Sans bio but I was re-reading it and made some very small updates. I still really enjoy looking at his life as a whole!))#((I like to think that his future will be nice and peaceful. Maybe he even gets to live with Tori again.))#((Paps has tons of friends but always makes time for his bro on the weekends))#((He picks up wine for Tori and pizza rolls for himself every Friday))#((They watch old comedy shows and stay up too late))#((Life is good.))

Glitchtale Theory: Frisk’s Origins EXPLAINED!
I basically copied and pasted most of this from my original post on Amino cause I’m lazy and it took so long for me to post the original one. ;-;
This is proof this theory is originally mine.
There have been people that have been speculating about the mystery and origins behind the original protagonist of Glitchtale, Frisk.
This was originally going to be a theory based by the video by SpiffyZGames, who had a theory about Frisk's relatives.
But I suddenly realized I might've figured out Frisk's origins. This theory will partially explain Frisk's connection with Betty and Chara, but it won't be focusing on it.
Now let's get to it!
To know about his origins, we have to delve deeper.
This is a confirmed theory made by abcightdev. In this theory, it's been confirmed that the world has been acting as a Game.
And after the events of "My Promise", fans have connected the dots and realized that this is because of Gaster's experiment before the events of the game.
I always believed that the experiment was the reason for Frisk's existence. And one day, Camila finally revealed what the experiment was for.
Gaster was trying to create/use an artificial soul.
And you might know where I'm going with this.
That artificial soul...
The one that Gaster tried to create or use...
...Is Frisk's Soul.
The fact that Frisk might have had an artificial soul might've been the answer to almost everything that we came to know about Frisk.
Even the game is hinting this. Frisk was recognized as a human in a pacifist route and a neutral route, but they were not recognized as a human in a Genocide Route, but they were recognized as a type of monster.
(Insert 2 Photos)
This also answers a question that someone asked Camila about Frisk.
Camila didn't exactly stayed silent when this was asked. They said something in morse code.
"See"
I thought what Camila meant by this is "see for yourself.”. I decided to see if Camila hinted this in her episodes. And I saw one that was actually in the very first episode.
Megalomaniac.
Multiple times through the video, did anyone noticed that everytime Frisk dies, he just disappears? Look at one of them.
I'm pretty sure that's not natural for a human, as humans have a lot of physical matter, their corpse would basically just... lying there. Even monster leaves something behind when they die (Dust). But Frisk? The only thing they leave behind is their soul. Not one trace of their body being there.
And in Undertale, when you play a Genocide Route, Asgore, someone who grew up with humans in Glitchtale, gets confused by Frisk and recognizes them as a strange monster.
Which is... odd. Asgore grew up around humans, and if he doesn’t recognize Frisk as one, then there’s more to Frisk than just a “human.”
The origins of Frisk's soul might also be the explanation of Frisk's connection with Chara and Gaster.
Someone else has already talked about this in Tumblr here.
agentravensong pointed out the foreshadowing of the events of My Promise that Camila has given. This person also explained the parallels between Gaster and Frisk.
That isn't the only connection there.
It might've been just me, but while I was thinking about this theory, I suddenly remembered the tune of Frisk's Theme, Bring It On, and I remembered Gaster's theme from Undertale as well. I tried comparing the two and realized that Frisk's Theme might've been a leitmotif to Gaster's Theme the whole time due to how it sounds so eerily similar to Gaster’s theme in Undertale.
I thought these connections have something to do with the experiment, and I realized it might've been. Gaster needed to use Determination to make that experiment. What if some of that determination was used for Frisk's soul? Gaster also makes some comments about Frisk's soul, written in Wingdings in the episode My Sunshine. (Information from Wiki)
It's been mentioned that Determination is the "Will to Live", so it's likely that Gaster tried making his own determination to help the soul persist after death. Camila wouldn't create these connections for no reason.
I also wanna talk about Chara.
I knew that Frisk and Chara were connected in a way, but back then, I couldn't figure out how and why. Until I remembered something from Undertale.
The artificial soul cannot be created without SOUL power. And since it can't be created artificially, Gaster would have to get it from another soul. And in the True Lab, there is a Red Heart seen in some kind of machine that powers things in the True Lab.
And the Wiki reveals that Gaster was trying to use the human souls.
It's likely that Chara's soul power from his original soul was used for the artificial soul. Now I know what you're thinking.
"Why don't they use Chara's soul!? They've got seven souls, so they could destroy the barrier! What's the point with creating another soul!?"
It's likely that Asgore refuses to use Chara's soul for the destruction of the barrier. Chara was a part of the Dreemurr family. Chara is too important, so Asgore, knowing him, wouldn't want to use that soul. It's likely that the other monsters aren't actually aware of this.
Camila also revealed that Chara's determination is far more powerful than Frisk's, also once mentioning that if Chara were to grow up, he would be as strong as Copper.
The soul power of the other souls likely did not work, so they had to use Chara's.
Besides, Frisk mentions something interesting in My Promise.
Frisk mentions “multiple” experiments. This makes me believe that this isn’t the first one to be made. Cami did mention that Gaster was “trying to create artificial SOULS”, don’t forget the S at the end!
This means that Frisk's soul might've been created from Chara's.
Which means they’re...
*GASP*
They’re actually brothers! :O
Well, brothers when it comes to their souls. :P
This answers two other questions Camila has been asked.
Frisk never actually climbed the Mountain and fell... He came into existence the moment we first enter the game. We never see Frisk fall. And he never mentioned the time he fell into the Underground. When we first saw Frisk, we just see him standing on Chara's grave, facing the screen.
We don't even see him lying there and get up.
This would also answer the other question.
I believe sometime after Flowey's reign, the game decide to have someone else as the player, so it created a vessel for the artificial soul.
Wait, this means that Frisk is also made by the game like Betty...
Soooo... This means that this crazy girl that is killing his friends and family turns out to be his.. sister..?
...
So she wasn’t kidding about “History Repeats Itself”, huh...
Now there’s this question.
“Does anyone else know?”
Well, there was one person I believe knew this.
Chara.
Camila states that Chara was the one who truly knew Frisk’s true nature.
I believe no one else knew about this, not even by Sans or Gaster. I once checked and realized that Frisk might’ve not been called “Human” in Glitchtale.
This leaves one final thing.
When Asriel and Chara's memories have been changed, Chara has been saved from HATE, and the other six souls MADE a soul for Asriel.
What does this mean, exactly?
The souls must’ve used SOUL POWER to create Asriel’s soul.
And Asriel’s soul has DETERMINATION, and from their memories, this possibly came from Asriel’s DETERMINATION as Flowey.
The soul was made just like the way I described how Frisk’s soul is created in their changed memories. And the game wouldn’t change their memories to the way they are now if it wasn’t possible.
This amazing series is created by @camilaart !

Could Hanako Yamada & Fun-Girl Be Connected Theory
the number of question marks are the same as the numbers in Hanako’s name.
plus Hanako has two ponytails, just like Fun-Girl.
we know that the timeline we play in, is a new timeline that came into existence after what happen to Ichiko’s twin sister.
my theory is that Hanako is Fun-Girl but another theory I have,
is that she is technically a fragment of Fun-Girl, being parts of Fun-Girl’s fragments that were scattered through Time and Space.
which would mean that Hanako would technically be Fun-Girl’s Daughter.
just like how the theory is that Sans and Papyrus are Gaster’s Sons or Younger Brothers! but with Altertale, it would be Older Brothers.
but I like the idea there is a Wingdings Gaster Sr. & Gaster Jr,
the Gaster Jr. is Sans and Papyrus’s Brother, while the Gaster Sr. is their father.
plus what if the biggest twist is that Ayato Aishi is Ryoba Aishi’s Son,
and Ayano Aishi is a creation of Fun-Girl, meaning that if Ayano is part of a fragment from Fun-Girl too, that would mean that Ayano and Hanako are sisters.
I also want to say, that I like Ayano’s new look.
it be nice if they keep the original look in Mission Mode Timeline.
it’s okay not everyone agrees about the theory
that has to do with Hanako Yamada and Fun-Girl being one in the same,
or Hanako being technically a reincarnation of Fun-Girl in the new timeline.
a version of her that was never born into the Saikou Family.
I still think the name Ririsu Saikou, fits Megami’s Mother....
I will still call her that, even when the official canon name is announced.
plus why would the sister be rival, unless it turns out that they aren’t biologically related, even if Hanako might turn out to be a Platonic Love Rival.
but what if Hanako and Taro are Step-Siblings, like Taro’s Dad marrying Hanako’s Mom, who could turn out to be a part of the Aishi Family. O_O
well I could be wrong about Hanako and Fun-Girl being one in the same.
maybe I can talk more about theories about Yandere Simulator, like tomorrow.
but it be interesting if turned out the theory about Hanako and Taro being Step-Siblings, turned out to be True.

“The Rain Boy” is a great story, here’s why.
I’m back at it again with a long review! I only write reviews for completed fics or long ones, so this one fits in the longer category lol. (Also it’s on Google Docs so I can’t comment D:)
“The Rain Boy” is an ongoing Handplates prequel story by @oh-my-m-theory of 108 pages on Docs. In this summary, I’ll may be giving some spoilers so PLEASE read it here if you have not yet! Let’s go.
The Rain Boy takes place in a medieval-esc Ireland in the summer (which I highly relate to, even in the States lol) before the war, before the Underground, and in the main character’s, Wingding’s, childhood days. "The Trio of Outcasts" includes a "Huckleberry Finn" of a character- Ronan, who seems to have a lively spirit only found in a child, always looking for a challenge and adventure. And the best friend Wingdings could have. Next is the tom-boy sassy skeleton- Lora, who's stuck by both of their sides for years, full of wit, charm, and her own sense of Integrity. A powerful friend. Lastly, we have the leader of the "monster bandits," the boy who'd want to be free like the birds, and always has his head in the clouds- Wingdings! (A younger, more passionate and imaginative Gaster than the conflicted adult we know.) The Trio spends their days in the lake, traveling the countryside, and leading the bandits of the school to those places. There are many different schoolhouse monsters and humans- nice ones, mean ones. (And smart ones, like the human ~April)
Now, why have a found such a simple and a generally happy story so enticing? Put it simply, it's magical. The description of the countryside, of nature, of old buildings, of characters, the change in lighting, it's gorgeous. A true romanticism novel. Almost Studio Ghibli quality with the descriptions. It's made an impact on me somehow- I can feel it. I want to be this kid who finds beauty and awe in the simple facts of nature. Who has a passion for how the world works. Its a spirit of child, even if he's 15. I miss that. I've always liked young Gaster bc of this, and that I also liked rain, science, and helping people. This story has helped me connect to him.
Nothing really upsetting has happened in this story, usually scared feelings change when Wingdings finds peace in nature. Except once. Not too many spoilers, but yah boy does end up getting expelled from the school bc he stood up for his class, and all monsters end up getting banned from the school later bc a stupid strict teacher. Well, his son who's in the class doesn't take it too lightly that Wingdings stood up to his father and- well he made it out fine. But I hated to see what he had to do to stand up to those bullies. I think we missed a lot of their cruelty after a time skip, which is good. In the end, I will not be emotionally prepared for the shift to a war. There's not much development with his large family, and even if he's almost considered the odd one of the bunch, I know what it will feel like for him to lose them.
tl;dr: If you're looking for a world to get lost into, to find some inner spirit you've missed- all in the universe of Undertale, and to see a Gaster from a more heart aching series (Handplates ©️ @zarla-s) at peace for once, this is your fanfic.
I'm ready for the next chapters. 👍

or what Bunmuse's Gasters like, what do you think of each one (fall, swap, blind, stars and wingding)? and what do you think is the most emotionally damaged?
Welp, I don’t know everything about them because I didn’t read all the comics but…Fell and Swapfell are my favorite ! Actually, I have my own theories about Gasters, and I even own a Gaster who is mentally exhausted I would say.
Maybe Swapfell is the…most damaged ? Because heh. He’s completely nuts ! He intentionally jumped into the Core ! Even Fell who comes from a Fell universe did his best to act in the best way possible for his sons.
But for sure, every Gaster has something sad in their background story ! Just like everybody does ! Life is not all pink with pop-tart cats pooping a rainbow, of course we all have very bad memories, sometimes very painful experiences. The best to do is to struggle in order to make our life better ! Because there is always a glimpse of hope.
If Sans believes in Karma, Gaster must too. And with Karma, we can’t have only bad things in our life ! There’s a balance in everything. Creation / Destruction, Light / Darkness. In my opinion, Swapfell was a coward compared to other Gaster. End our life isn’t the best thing to do. Cuz first off, you’re gonna hurt people. Even if you think they don’t care about you. Sometimes, people act in a certain way while their mind doesn’t think the same. People acting like jerks oftenly do that as a defensive shell, because they don’t want to be hurt. Or they act like jerk to make people they care about stronger, just like Fell skele-family does.
In any case, understanding the cause of our problem is the key. We have to fight. Every animals have to struggle to live. That’s the same for us, but we are smarter. We can think, talk. We have to use our own strenght to fight against our dark thoughts to grab our happiness. Because if you search well, you’ll find it. Gasters are very intelligent monsters, so even if they’re mentally damaged, they’re still able to find a way to feel better. And now they’re all friends ! I’m sure there’s a way to help Swapfell too ! :)
Everybody can be saved.
I hope those words will help you to feel better. If you need, don’t hesitate to talk to a doctor. Being lonely is the worst thing to do.
But please, don’t put such burden to other artists. I know you didn’t meant to hurt, but it’s to much responsibility for one person. Especially if they don’t know you ! You don’t want to make people you admire feel guilty right ? ^^
Welp. Hope I could help you a little at least ! Have a great day, and STAY DETERMINED.
My Gaster wishes you the best ! ^-^
