just watched the talk of the town again and I want to say it’s a more true and just and honest depiction of the us’s flawed& broken political and justice system than anything frank capra ever made in my eyes. idk man acknowledging the drive to mob justice in small town americana and corrupted narratives driven by an unquestioning press and the hatred of outsiders and the useless analysis of a removed (but redeemable) academic class and the nothingness of violence unless driven by careful thought and emotional integrity and the way good men look away because of their own drive to power and personal success and the need to balance fight with thought with action…I know I talk about the throuple a lot (and they are BANGING each other) but this film shockingly has a lot to say about politics and the weight & horror of American bloodlust for a romcom made by idiots in the 40s

is it the most radical thing ever? no absolutely not. go watch an actual radical independent film. but for what it is it has a lot to say and I’m kinda surprised it even got made
