It's time for more dad rock takes! Still focusing on non-lords [I promise this time]

Jeralt. Because of course he does. Just like Roddy, this used to be fresh stuff to him. He's into more harder rock like AC/DC [particularly the Bon Scott years] and Kiss and suddenly, everyone's starting to see where Leonie's taste in music came from. Favourite song: Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be

Eltshan and Quan. Another two-in-one cos their music tastes overlap. Doesn't help that they hung out around Sigurd so damn much at the academy, but I promised no lords so we're not talking about him. Despite the overlap, their preferences diverge. Eltshan is big into the Moody Blues and Pink Floyd, which drew some odd looks from his wife, while Quan is head over heels in love with Linda Ronstadt's voice. Favourite songs: Nights in White Satin [Eltshan] and Blue Bayou [Quan; this is a Roy Orbison cover]

Stahl [sorry, mod]. Just like in story and gameplay, his classic rock taste is incredibly average. As a result, most of it happens to be big hits with the occasional deep cut here and there in his playlist, but overall it's nothing to write home about. He likes the Rolling Stones, Queen, and the Steve Miller Band, but who doesn't like those groups? Favourite song: Jumpin' Jack Flash

Sylvain. Okay okay, hold up here, let me explain. We all know Sylvain is an EDM party animal through and through, I ain't disputing that. But what about when he gets older? He went through Ashe's record collection post-war, put on side 2 of the Eagles' fourth album because why not, gave it a listen. The first song caught his attention, but after the second song finished, something inside him just... broke. He still loves EDM, but on quiet nights in Gautier, he puts on his own copy of that same Eagles record [Ashe got it for him for his birthday]. Favourite song: Take It to the Limit

Deirdre. There's something to be said about this family and the love they all have for classic rock, it's a bit interesting. True, most of what Deirdre listens to is old school country, but it still counts depending on who you're talking to. Can't go a day without hearing this woman humming a Carpenters or Joni Mitchell song, but it's Loretta Lynn who takes the top spot for her, if only cos her favourite song is the one she and Sigurd danced to at their wedding. Favourite song: Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man

Aelfric and Sitri. Yet another two-in-one due to overlapping tastes. A real Sonny and Cher pair when Sitri was still alive, though clearly platonic on her part. Also anyone who looks like Sonny Bono is definitely into some 60s shit, no doubt about it [please tell me I'm not the only one who noticed this]. Some of Aelfric's favourite memories of Sitri involve discussing music with her, including how they both love Sonny and Cher [of course], Jefferson Airplane, the Mamas and the Papas, and Cream, among others. Favourite songs: I Got You Babe [Aelfric] and California Dreaming [Sitri]

Greil. Another member of the old-enough-to-remember-when-this-was-new club. Where do you think Ike's taste in music came from? Admittedly though, Greil's taste leans more towards acid rock, so among the records Ike inherited after Greil's death, there was Cream, Steppenwolf, Led Zeppelin, and Jimi Hendrix. Favourite song: Tales of Brave Ulysses

Camus/Zeke/Sirius. Don't matter what name he's going by, his taste don't change at all. This guy here, this guy is the real Steely Dan fan in all of Fire Emblem and has been a fan since he first became aware of their existence. He owns all of their albums, all of the Best Of compilations, and copies of every 45 single the group ever put out. He didn't just push the Steely Dan button, he smashed it to pieces. Favourite songs: Show Biz Kids and Bodhisattva [a tie -- he can't pick between them]

Echidna. Older rock music is pretty much all she listens to, and if it ain't playing, she ain't caring. Go up to a jukebox and put on any song by that little ol' band from Texas and you've got her attention. Screw all that Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande and Bruno Mars nonsense, it's ZZ Top hours now. She and Oifey would make great friends. Favourite song: Velcro Fly

Nephenee. Like Deirdre, most of what she listens to is country, but unlike Deirdre, it's definitely southern rock. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Atlanta Rhythm Section, and Molly Hatchet are among her favourite groups, but the second .38 Special starts playing on the radio, that volume control is getting dialed up to 11 and you're gonna hear her belting out the lyrics from down the street. Favourite song: Back to Paradise

Samson. I look at this guy and all I see is "I'm a Foreigner fan". Okay, it's not all I see. He's also into Santana, Meat Loaf, and Eric Clapton, but holy shit the Foreigner vibes are strong with this one. He loves the Agent Provacateur album so much that he needs a replacement for it cos it's starting to warp. Funnily enough though, his favourite song is actually on a different album. He got asked about that once and he said that if his favourite song was on Agent Provacateur, it would be the perfect album. Favourite song: Girl on the Moon

I've got more, but that can wait for later so I'll stop here

So Carmilla as soon as Sera shows up pregnant at her door wants to get married. She had always hated how the secret rendezvous made thier relationship feel like an affair with Carmilla as the mistress Sera hid from her "real" family and the fact that Carmilla had two of Sera's kids without telling her added to that guilt. But once heaven kicks Sera out she feels like she's won they are now a real family and she isn't the shameful mistress but a wife. While Carmilla may want to have a big wedding in the future I feel she may want to make it official as soon as possible maybe when Lucifer visits to see baby Emily she asks him to marry them right there. They can do the big party and wedding later.

"Wait, what? You want me to marry you two...right now?" Lucifer has to hold in his surprise, taking a step backward and bracing himself on his foot to keep from dropping Emily. The child in his arms is tiny. Barely a few weeks old. She reminds him so much of Charlie, who is currently at home with her own mother, sleeping soundly.

"We want to make this official as soon as possible," Carmilla insists. "Heaven pushed her out, but there's no telling what kind of games they'll try to play during the next Extermination. If she's my wife, people are more likely to leave her and Emily alone. And it will be easier for my people to accept them, so I can protect them both."

Lucifer looks down at Emily again. The baby is smiling, reaching up to try and touch his ruby-red cheeks. He's a small man, so even a baby of this size is a handful for him. The little wings flapping here and there aren't helping. She's ridiculously cute. Lucifer sighs.

"All right, but give me some time to...prepare," Lucifer hints. This is going to take a while to explain to the other rulers of Hell. He doesn't think Bee, Ozzie, or Bel will mind having a more freshly fallen angel in their midst, but Mammon might be a different story. He'll take some convincing. "Just let me make sure everything is on the up-and-up, and I'll be back with Ozzie to perform the ceremony."

Carmilla shakes her head. "No. Not a ceremony right now, Lucifer. We just want to get it on paper. We can do the ceremony when Sera is well again. Once she's recovered. Can you do that for now?"

"Su-sure," Lucifer says, a little surprised. He figured an angel would want a gigantic, extravagant affair. If they just want to get this on the books, then he can perform the rights himself. He'll just need some supplies.

"Since when does Ozzie do weddings, anyway?" Carmilla asks, raising an eyebrow.

Lucifer chuckles. "He's had a change of heart recently, I guess. Found there's a lot of money to be made in the romance biz. He's making bank!"

Carmilla smiles. "Figures. Thank you for this, Lucifer. It means a lot to us."

Lucifer hands Emily back to Carmilla. The baby is cooing, trying to take his hat with her. He grins, tipping his hat at the baby, then turning toward the door.

"Not a problem, Carm. Be right back."

Analysis of Love Stage!! (TW SA)

Love Stage!! A 10 episode (excluding OAD) BL anime published by Kadokawa Pictures Inc. and aired in 2014. Rated 4.6/5 on Crunchyroll and 7.3/10 on IMBd

ART/ANIMATION

With most BL animes I've seen (though rarely finished) their art is spectacular! It's colorful, bright, and fun; perfectly appealing to the target audience of female adolescents. Love Stage!! is no exception to this. Though what makes LS stand out from the rest of them is the animation. Most BLs these days are otome adaptations.. Which, while not lacking in style, the animation is quite lackluster. This is where LS is unique to this genre*. The art style is still that sparkling colorfulness that burns your eyes if you look at it too long, but the animation is perfectly fitting and smooth. It's truly an anime, unlike otome remakes! (Dramatical Murder excluded..) If there's anything I can compliment this anime on; it's the art/animation that fits and appeals so well to young girls. * When I say genre, I don't mean just BL! I mostly am referring to BL targeted towards preteen/teen girls.

PLOT

There's not much to say about the plot, honestly. It has it's loopholes, but I'll cover that in the "Issues" section. This is just my summary of the anime. Sena Izumi is a shut-in otaku who's hellbent on becoming a manga artist. His only two set backs? His family and lack of skill. Everyone in his family is in show-biz; his mother is an movie star, father is a singer, and his doting older brother is a rockstar vocalist. Izumi has always been shy, and this was only solidified by a wedding commercial he acted in by chance when he was young. During the commercial, and while dressed as a girl, he meets Ichijou Ryouma; a soon-to-be super star. Ryouma calms Izumi's nerves during the shoot and falls in love. Years later, the company who shot the commercial wants to do an anniversary shoot and invites all the previous cast to shoot it. Ryouma is insistent that Izumi is there to act, or he won't be there himself. Eventually, the two meet again. Ryouma is stil under the impression that Izumi is a female until Izumi's brother exposes him in jealously*. Ryouma, in disbelief and shock, snaps at Izumi and insults him before running off. Fast forward a bit and the two make amends and agree to become friends (after Izumi's SA**). The rest is casual character development with Izumi's endeavor of becoming a manga artist sprinkled in. * Izumi's older brother is basically in love with him.. icky. ** Yes, Izumi was SA-ed by Ryouma and is a second time after they become friends. Both will be addressed in detail in it's own section.

CHARACTERS

Man, have I got A LOT to say about the characters... I'll go through the important ones one at a time. Sena Izumi Sena is, in my opinion, a bit of an annoying character trope; whiny main character with unrealistic aspirations. There's not much to say about him except his horrible stereotyping of otakus. They way he's portrayed is very obsessive about a particular kid's show anime girl. Throughout the anime, Izumi's older brother convinces him to do things with merch. This gives the view that otakus are obsessive nerds who are constantly thinking about a specific character. This is no where near true and it's infuriating that something like that is being pushed onto younger girls. Ichijou Ryouma I hate him. I could write an entire thesis on this man being a terrible person, but I'll cover most of that in the "Issues" section. Ryouma is yet another whiny character. This seems to be a trend. It's mentioned early on by Ryouma's agent that he's a very honest person, though a little TOO honest. It was disappointing that this wasn't developed much throughout the anime, I think it would have been great for character development! Ryouma is rather bland, in all honesty. He doesn't have any discernable hobbies or interests besides Izumi. Another impossible standard for young girls. Sena Shougo Izumi's older brother. Doting older brother... VERY doting older brother. Shougo gives me the ick with how loveydovey he is with Izumi. Throughout the anime, he is consistently stalker-ish and jealous. There's not much to his character except doting over Izumi and being really annoying for Rei. Sagara Rei The ONLY sane main character in this anime. Not only is he the only sane one, but he's the most realistic. Rei is a tough-love sort of person, especially when it comes to Izumi and his dream. Rei often berates Izumi for being so stubborn towards a dream that will never happen. This is not the way to go about it, but his reaction to Izumi's persistence is refreshingly realistic. Even when Izumi ran away and ghosted him, he was genuinely worried and did everything to find him. (Thanks Ryouma for being distrustful even then) Another plus about Rei is his relationship with Shougo. It's mentioned and showed a few times that Rei and Shougo have something going on... The two are often seen together casually in the episodes and seem rather close. The two have known eachother a long time and it shows. Rei is openly bisexual. This plays a part when Izumi realized he likes Ryouma and asks Rei for advice. Rei offers magazines and tips for Izumi, which is SUCH a comforting gesture in this anime full of horrific stereotypes and normalizations.

SEXUAL ASSAULT

I saved this for last because I was excited to write this bit... There are countless issues with this anime, but I decided to keep it minimal and only address the one that stood out the most to me. This anime is guilty for normalizing/romanticizing SA. When Ryouma first learns Izumi is a boy but feels no different, he visits Izumi at his house to try and convince himself not to love Izumi. By feeling him up. It gets very intimate and Izumi is very obliviously NOT into it. Thankfully, it doesn't get far and Ryouma leaves even more confused. The second incident was when Izumi was staying over at Ryouma's house while he ran away from home. Not only did Ryouma not tell Rei he had found Izumi, but he forces himself onto Izumi. When Izumi dejected says he doesn't care what happens to himself anymore, Ryouma CONTINUES! Only when Izumi starts weeping does he stop. This is horrific in many different ways. Not only does this romanticize SA by having it be a leading factor for Izumi's decent into love (which in it of itself is not a far cry away from a type of stockholm syndrome..) but it also normalizes it. It gives the impression that this sort of thing happens often, especially with people we love. Putting this view into a young girl is terrible. Many animes are guilty of this, but Love Stage!! is especially.

CONCLUSION/TLDR;

I hate to say it, but I would recommend this anime to a seasoned anime enjoyer. I would NOT recommend it to someone new to anime; it would shock them away from anime in general. For those who know anime and it's cliches, it is unfortunately a good cringe watch. I've almost finished my 4th watch of it and the only thing it has going for it is the reactions it gets out of me. The SA scenes are hard to watch, but other than that it does what it set out to: getting an emotional reaction from viewers. In conclusion, Love Stage!! is a terrible anime that doesn't deserve the ratings it has. I would rate it 2 stars and 3/10. It only gets points for Rei and his relationship with Izumi's brother.

Honestly, love that we are all sleuthing and conspiracy-ing it up about the Spain trip, it's just so funny since I know for myself, I'm pretty settled in my actual Stranger Things theorizing, like I know how I predict the show plot and character arcs to go and there's only so much theorizing anything new at this point other than fun extracurricular ideas... so analyzing mister jet set is next on the list. He's just so mysterious!! And since there's a big event in the near future re: the wedding, that so many fans of a certain nature are throwing a lot of cards into regarding seeing two certain men together in any way shape or form. It's kinda quaint, kinda fun. All done out of fondness. I know a lot worse ways people treat the celebrities they follow online and we're all here, just super interested hoping he's on a romantic trip and is happy above all else hahahah.

I really kinda think he's just there with some random friends and has a break in filming so he's taking some down time to relax. Which, relaxing for Noah means hopping on a plane to Europe. Maybe his mother is there too just for like, moral support? In the same country but she's got her own stuff going on so they parted but they flew in and will fly home together - I know he often bops all over but maybe it's nice to to have family around for international travel, he's still pretty young.

In the public radio biz, we often characterize our audience with one word: “curious.”

Enter the era of audio streaming, which makes finding that new Billie Eilish album or thrilling podcast easier than ever.

But what does that do to our collective musical and information diets? And how does that benefit listeners, artists, and creators?

E.D. "Yeah. I mean, it's it's, you know, it's it's an interesting history. Right? I mean, the the music industry was riding high in the 19 nineties for a number of reasons. I mean, there's, the tendency of people when you buy a recording, say, like a vinyl LP, you know when a new medium is introduced like the CD there is a tendency for people who have disposable income to replace that older recording with a newer one. And so the music industry benefited from that because a lot of baby boomers reaching a sort of prime purchasing age, so they replace a lot of their their CD a lot of their LPs with CDs. And then, you know, the other major factor is that, in the past, you know, you'd been able to buy singles of, you know, hit songs, but, you know, with the CD that was no longer really the case. And so if you really like the song you heard on the radio, you had to buy the entire CD, and so you had the the the case of a lot of people who would buy, like, you know, I don't know, a Chumbawamba CD for that one song, that, you know, they then spent $16 effectively for one song. You know, the music industry, the the the the story that's often told that they were somewhat blindsided by the the advent of the Internet and distribution of music online. You know, partly used because they were so wedded to the CD model and they were making so much money off of it, they didn't really want to change. Anyhow, when the MP 3 debuted, when Napster came out and allowed for the file sharing of of MP 3 files online. You know, that really started to show the weaknesses and the the record industry's business model. And even though they were successful in shutting down Napster, you know, throughout the 2000, they really struggled to find a a satisfactory business model. And when Apple came along and debuted the iTunes store as a sort of legitimate way of buying MP 3 files online, you know, the problem from the music industry is that they they were kind of compelled to embrace this, but one of the things that the iTunes store did was unbundle albums. So if you want that one, the Chumbawamba song, you could buy it for 99¢, and so that obviously cut into the kind of revenue that the the music industry was able to, earn from music. So fast forward to 2008 when, you know, Spotify, comes online, you know, at first they were kind of like Napster in that they didn't have licenses for any of the music they upload. They were sort of operating illicitly, but instead of doing what they had normally done, which is, bring lawsuits against these platforms to shut them down, the music industry came in and said, no. What we're gonna do is use the threat of lawsuits to negotiate a licensing agreement with you. We will let you use our music so long as you pay us, you know, adequately for the use. And for the music industry, this is a really attractive model because it basically did an end run around piracy,pushed a lot of people into the platform, and now they have the stable steady income stream."

She references Spotify not just buying the exclusive rights to individual podcasts, but seeking to own the entire lifecycle of creating them, as well.

But Spotify—along with many other companies—wants to create a closed ecosystem for the creation, distribution, and consumption of podcasts, bypassing RSS technology altogether because that would allow them to harvest more listener data to leverage with advertisers.
