This is a rewatch from years ago, and I still love this one. I forgot Anna Kendrick was in this one but she blows it out of the water.

First and foremost: I am a Jerry apologist. I would lay my life on the line for that man. Some of you may have arguments against this, seeing as the problematic and/or illegal things he did in this film. I don’t care, you’re literally wrong. That’s Jerry.

I am also a Ryan Reynolds fan, I think it is insane he was also voicing Mr. Whiskers and Bosco along with Jerry.

I am on the fence as to whether this is positive representation for schizophrenia and as someone that does not have it, I don’t think I have the right to judge that. However, as a person who haas experienced a spiral in a similar fashion to Jerry, I think that was illustrated well. I could not help but feel the peril that Jerry felt.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND watching through the end credits.

31 Nights of Halloween Horror: day 14

Oops late post lol. My choice for yesterday was the horror "comedy": The Voices

I rated this movie 8/10. I put comedy in quotations because even though that's the first genre listed for this movie on IMDb, this movie was a bummerrrrrr lol. I teared up at two scenes, and it really it just a very sad sad movie. I feel so freaking bad for this guy, and Ryan Reynolds does a phenomenal job in this role. He's amazing at comedy, and he's amazing when he needs to be serious, or even scary. One scene in this movie made me lean away from my computer, and I didn't even realize I'd done it at first lol. He did a very very good job. Great job from everyone in the movie, but he was just... fantastic. I also loved the switch between him on his meds and off of them, and his apartment changing depends on who's POV it was inside the apartment. So unnerving. Really well done. I definitely recommend this movie, but there's a lot of blood, and some pretty graphic violence done by him, so just know that before you go into it. Very good, funny yet sad movie.

Also the ending credits feature a song and dance number by the main cast, that was funny while also somehow still depressing me lmao. Great ending to a great movie.

ok first thing I would change is I would make him not kill his mom as a child and instead making him watch how much his mother suffered in the institution and he's always wondering if he made the right choice. until his own schizophrenia/treatment gets as bad as hers and from this moment on he deeply regrets not killing her when she asked him to. and that's why he cannot stand to see injured people without "ending their suffering" bc he thinks they suffer like him. and actually hes suicidal himself but he won't kill himself as a kind of punishment for letting his mother live

Also scrap the bad accents. Keep the pets, they are great. Keep the pink factory outfit. Switch the actor I don't think he was really good at this? Or mby the directing was weird. He was really good at playing happy but the disturbed and freaking out and crying parts I wasn't really feeling.

Keep the end scene where they are all in heaven it makes NO FUCKING SENSE but it's funny and it should look more low budget.

Lisa was really interesting as a character. She's the kinda girl who keeps getting into bad relationships and she's really fascinated by "mysterious men" and is really empathetic to her abusers. Like she's low key one of those serial killer fangirls.

That would be an interesting dynamic. He's got Hollywood-schizophrenia™ and she's really weirdly and tbh grossly romanticizing/fetishizing him for that. I think she should play more of a role in him loosing the plot.

Also the scene where he decides to stay in the burning house was lame. I still don't understand how this house works. Wtf was even that hallway he was walking through?! Or did he actually get stuck in the air-vent and this was just a pov kinda thing? He should've been shot really. (Like they frickin foreshadowed) Or let himself be shot or escaped. Not this "oh I'm actively escaping from the police but I guess I'll just burn to death instead" and then it cuts to the heaven scene skskskk. The heaven scene silly. Probably the funniest bit of the movie
