As much as I love the Voices, I think one big reason that the Voices get left behind in the Leave Together ending is because, functionally, the Voices are personalities formed within the parameters of the construct.

The Voices and Vessels are defined by the roles the Narrator imposed; all of the Voices are either successful or failed Heroes, and all of the Vessels are Princesses, slain or otherwise. Even being defined as a Hero or a Princess inherently limits the role of the two gods. All of them exist in hyperspecific contexts that can’t reach anywhere else.

This is why I think leaving them behind makes sense, because LQ and Princess are shedding the old identities of Hero and Princess, and to do that, LQ needed to lose the Voices solely defined by the construct.

In the New Dawn, he brings the Voices along because, with the Princess gone, the cycle of life and death has halted and the Voices are no longer defined by their other half: they all still act as they usually did, but without the Construct (and the Princess, even if she was equally as trapped) continuously traumatizing them.

I love Female Long Quiet. She so precious. Since we also got the genderswap version of the Princess that is the Prince, wonder if we'll have him and Female Long Quiet get some cute moments together in the future.

Nah I mean it’s could be a interesting dynamic to explore, but I just like the initial idea of just one counterpart changing gender

But it is fun to imagine them together 👀 (they would be besties for sure)

Wanted to talk more about the genderswap

The thing I kinda noticed in the game (dunno if it was intentional or not)

That the princess is mostly always strong/in control

This may be just because we, as a player, always have a lingering suspicion of who the princess is (stranger danger ya know)

But like: razor, nightmare, adversary, tower, beast - we are completely dominated by our princes girlboss

In other routes the princess is not defenceless either

The only exception is damsel, which just loves you so much, she allows you to stab her (and even this played of as a joke)

The thing I’m getting at

Princess is a girlboss 👸

I like it a lot

And if we change the genders

Um.. erm..

It is a powerful man, which is kinda unsettling ???

It could just be totally me viewing it this way, again just my thoughts

But I just don’t like the idea of this gender change in this particular case

Because imagine for example nightmare route

(dialogue completely unchanged)

But it’s a female birb being killed and kinda bullied by a masked man

Beast route, voice of the Hunted, but it’s a scared female lead trying to not get devoured by a scary man in the shadows

To be fair the initial game routes are really tense, stressful and dark already

And under no circumstances am I saying that men are not subjected to abuse, absolutely not, abuse has no gender

Just wanted to say that for me personally doing the classic genderswap kinda makes the game a bit too dark (just because women abuse/harassment is more common)

So making them toxic yuri and toxic yaoi fits for me 😈

For the ppl reading hope all of that made sense 💥

I’m usually nervous to write my thoughts on complex topics like that, because ppl could misinterpret my words (or I can describe my thoughts not coherently enough so it gets misinterpreted)

If you see nothing wrong with classic genderswap, absolutely valid, that’s just my opinions please don’t kill me with a pristine blade nöooooo 🐻‍❄️🗡️

I headcanon Broken with torn clothes and horrible nails because, well, he's Broken. Everything about him is broken, both emotionally and physically. And yet, he's the second Voice that's the most presentable (the first is Smitten) because he's under the orders of Tower/Apotheosis (Canon) or the other Voices take care of him (Post-canon???)

also the voice of the paranoid is remindingly uncomfortably of the voice of the broken with his desolate "we can never beat her" moaning. there is a difference between "broken by" somebody and "paranoid of" somebody but it's disconcerting and i don't trust him

I find it very funny that supposedly every time our voices bicker and argue, the princess is just left there, totally unaware.

She seemingly acknowledges this too! After a while of back and forth in our mind, she’ll pipe up because she’s noticed we’ve gotten lost in our thoughts. She must think we have trouble with zoning out. She’s not necessarily wrong, I guess.
