Alice Cooper paid tribute to Chris Cornell looking back on their 1994 colaboration and saying that the Soundgarden frontman “had the best voice in rock n’rolll”.

Cornell and Cooper worked together on the Cooper’s album “The Last Temptation” in 94. The two co-wrote the songs “Stolen Prayer” and “Unholy War”, with Cornell providing vocals on each.

In his statement, Cooper said Cornell was dubbed “The Voice” .

Cindy stood straighter as the open mic was announced at last, this is what she's been waiting for. The instrumental parts of the song were on a small pendrive; part of her still couldn't believe it.

“I know the mood is a bit weighed by dread. And I'm not here to sing a ballad. I'm bringing the finest rock n roll you never heard before, guaranteed to lift your spirits stronger than before!” she treated this song like it was her own concert...and in a way, it was.

“You see, originally I wasn't planning on performing alone.” jade eyes fluttered shut, a shaky breath away from the microphone, instruments coming to life from the speakers.

“Life's a bitch, but damn, so am I.”

“I've written and erased, your name a thousand ways in my book.” she started deceptively softly, almost a pop sounding drawl to her voice “Tried to be unkind, maybe cause you to rewind and take good, hard look.”

“Try to take a stand but it seems to never end in this place~” the shift from the raw grit to the airy tone was immediate, not even the tiniest tension in her voice

“I'm gnawed down to bone, but by the time I get alone; do I even know my own face?”

“You confuse me! And correct me! And it's fine, till someone takes my life”

Her dress sparkled with each movement, the crimson wonder playing with her vocals with such practiced ease.

“I've caught you in the act. I fought to bring you back to my eyes.” she leaned down with conspiracy, a small smile finally making its way to the corner of her lips

“The other side of the fence always seems to bend to your view! And I'm trying too hard so I'll just leave my card with you, with you!” rugged chestvoice exploded from her with ferocious force, by now completely swept into the whirlwind of her own feelings and the more drawn in crowd

“Now you confuse me! And correct me! And it's fine, until you take my life !”

“And then you break me! And remake me! It's still fine...until you take my life.” this was her life. In the spotlight, and she couldn't believe she almost gave it up willingly, without a fight.

Vocal acrobatic followed, perfectly in sync with the higher electric guitar notes, her own voice spiking higher and higher at the exact moment in violent harmony. She paced the stage like a wild animal, preparing, gearing up for the usual scream about to come, her feral eyes scanning the crowd for a reaction.

“Oh just tell me I'm fine” grit dripped from her voice, almost satanic at this point, and then the infamous C6 belt

“UNTIL YOU TAKE ”

“YOU TAKE! ”

Going even higher with a C6 sharp and immediately bringing back lower an octave, as it was nothing.

“Then you break me, you break me and tell me I'm fine, until you take, you take, you take-”

“And you remake me!” a sharp cry backed by the electric guitar

“And reshape me!” higher this time

“Just tell me I'm fine, until you take my life!” betrayal bubbled from her throat, vicious and acidic

“Get back! No no no, get back!” she touched a lower register with her growls, not her lowest, usually this is where the song ended. But not today.

Cindy stood, her hair as wild as her expression as she began her chant, each ‘hey’ punching a higher note, until it was a scream of pure, raw grit and she was still going up: “ Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!

Hey!”

She barely noticed she was lying backwards on the stage as she started to belt out an impossible high, sharp, gritty A5 which then started to slide between A5 and A5 sharp; a true testament of her skill, talent, passion in one. Along with breathing technique as her feat lasted for 15 seconds and then brought back low with a growl.

Pure euphoria burst through her entire being, her look akin to an aggressive animal as she soaked up the shock, applause and spotlight. Her chest rose and fell steadily, she needed some air supply; she never tried to belt in such oxygen restricting position. Yet she succeeded. Sounded better than she ever did.
