But talking more seriously than just the extent of his game, I think one thing the School Mode endings (and also the talk about dreams with Maizono) reinforce for me is that at the beginning and on his own, Makoto is a bit aimless-- he doesn't have any big dream for himself nor does he know what he wants to do in life, and he's aware of this and searching for something. A lot of the School Mode endings have Makoto swear to support the other person or him otherwise becoming a major pillar for them, so it's fair to say (to me) that he tends to find his purpose in other people.
