Prompt:
Damian isn’t happy about father’s rule not to hurt the gaggle of false kids he has acquired. How is he supposed to prove to him that he is the only one worthy of the title of heir now?
But fine. Most of them are stupid enough they’ll end up dead sooner or later. Damian just has to play the long game. Establish himself as the only constant.
But then father’s wayward son, Todd, comes home… and it’s so much worse than Damian expected.
He remembers this man. Remembers him from hushed whispers in the League, from mother’s creased eyebrow, and training halls drenched with blood.
And he’ll take one look at Damian and know. Know that he’s a threat to his position.
And the worst thing: Damian isn’t allowed to defend himself.

Utena characters always resonate in such a thematic, sideways way. As in, even if I identify the most with Juri, the show always manages to throw itself in the way of that. Like many lesbians unrequited feelings were the origin of my lesbianism so of course some aspects of this are expressed through Juri's narrative in a relatable way, the "miracles don't exist" concept in particular if I interpret it as Juri justifying being unable to bare her throat to Shiori and the world. Juri's nihilism over her own deviance keeps her from true human connection, and I could see many people, regardless of their sexuality, finding this theming a little pointed. But what actually happens narratively between Shiori and Juri is an unreal drama that strains toward an extreme actualization of the dynamics involved. Their alienation is a kaleidoscopic spectacle. I really love this about RGU, I find it so electrifying that it delivers universal themes to the audience with so much obfuscation and exaggeration. That's theater, baby!

i know travis guiding them was 100% travis and not in character as chet bc he didn’t even have the voice going, but i also would like to imagine that chet did exactly that.
i like it generally bc he has moments like that where he drops the chaos when things get serious (i’ll never forget watching him and orym talk about will and realizing that oh god, under all those layers of whatever the fuck is going on with him, he cares so much).
but i really like it in this specific situation too bc i’m pretty sure imogen was the one to step up after his confession and immediately say they weren’t going to leave him, and i can totally see him avoiding the conversation in the moment but then stepping up to guide her and taking it really seriously out of appreciation.

Wait i just...injust realised something.
Peter and Logan are both self-proclaimed loners, they have both serious anger issues and are kinda assholes who tend to lash out at people, one of their coping mechanisms (if i noticed it right with Peter) is to just leave a situation in anger and self-isolate themselves, they both seem to fall in love with most people around them (poly kings), and alot of people (including multiple villians) have a "God you piss me off so much! I wanna fuck you so bad! I HATE how atractive you are to me!" thing going on. They both lost their fashion style for the most part during the early 200s (70s and 80s were a fashion peak for them), transmascs seem to see them as transition goals, they both had their original love interest they intended on marrying and when that didn't work out (Gwen and Mariko), they had a period of being with a wild thrill-seeking lady in black bodysuits (Black Cat and Yukio), and they're both more skilled, smart and powerful than alot of people seem to think, they're also kinda hypocrites in the sense that they preach what others should be while not exactly being that themselves. They also have a Samurai and Ninja dynamic going on a bit. Like...no wonder i love both and no wonder Logan did that whole native american "blood brother" ritual with Pete, they're so similar in alot of things.
this is called batman syndrome and it effects one in every 5 superheroes. there is currently no cure. one like one prayer
