Xa'rok and Emp off on adventures with D'jaxia in the astral sea.

D'jaxia was abandoned for being born lame, but Xa'rok, an exile in their own right, stepped in to raise her. The lame leg doesn't cause D'jaxia any discomfort and she has five other to compensate for balance. Those who make the mistake of underestimating her don't live long enough to regret it. And, well, her friends have to eat after all. (:

Tomb of the Devourer

The Treasure Hunter had traveled a long way. In the Valley of Kings, the tombs lay defiled, despoiled of all treasure. All but one. One tomb had remained impervious to looting. A tomb of a nameless king of an age lost to history. Not one would-be thief who had ever challenged its depths had returned. The Treasure Hunter was determined to be the first. When he stood before the entrance to the tomb, half buried in sand, he had expected difficulty getting inside. To his surprise, the ancient stone gate rose open under its own power like a gaping maw. An open invitation. Perhaps this would be easier than he thought…

Ruby in the Mire

Ruby is an adventurer-for-hire who does the dirty jobs no one else will take! A malignant force has corrupted the ruins of an ancient temple, half-sunken under a muddy swamp. The corruption has spread to a nearby town and poisoned their water supply. The town has pooled their money together to hire someone to venture into the temple’s depths and battle the demon which has taken root there. Ruby is the one woman for the job!

The Waystone’s Toll

The Mercenary had hoped to find rest in the town of Knights Passing. However, when he arrived, he felt the telltale tension in the air that told him all was not well in this small town. A week prior, the town’s relic known as the Waystone had been stolen, and some of the townsfolk went missing. Each night since, demons have emerged from the manor of Erstel Krestalor, a wealthy merchant who was among the missing villagers. The guards have barely managed to fight off the nightly onslaught. It looks like The Mercenary will have to earn his rest!

Hunter in the Court of Beasts

The hunter sniffed the air and knew her quarry was near. It was no surprise to her when she felt a tension in the air upon entering the village, and even less of a surprise when she heard its cause. The beasts of the woods had grown dangerous and organized. At foragers went missing. Then an entire hunting party was killed. Now the villagers fear to go out at night for beasts roam the outskirts of the village waiting for prey. The hunter listened to the villages story and knew she was in the right place. This is how it had been each time. She was certain: one of the Beast Lords had arisen here. She prepared to head north into the heart of the woods, ready to begin the hunt.

garlean people and hyur share a very recent common ancestor, but it’s far enough back that they should be considered distinct from like a different kind of hyur like midland or highland. They kind of adopted their place name into their “species name”. the fact is they used to be called something else, but both internally rejected the use of anything but a locator and externally so deeply associated themselves with garlemald that any notion of the name is gone. and they weren’t incredibly populous to begin with, so no one had a chance to set something else.

anyways! What’s this thing about

THIS is a small organ that has a hard keratin protrusion and is very loosely connected to the skull. most notably this eye is used for spatial recognition. The external part of it is rumored as being used for distance recognition, being able to sense better how far away something is, but Lucia asserts it doesn’t matter so. It might not matter. But the internal organ is used for proprioception! Very similar to the otolithic organ in your ears! While that will tell you if you’re accelerating or which way you’re moving, the “third eye” addition to the vestibular system tells you which way is down. The heavier calcium deposit on the inside of the organ always orients the brain to where down is and where it is in reference to you and where you’re angled in reference to Down, as long as you’re not shaking your head around like crazy to disorient yourself. If you’ve ever been on a big rollercoaster and closed your eyes the whole time, you’ll notice you can sort of tell when you’re on the loop because of the pull of gravity, but it’s hard to tell exactly where you are on the loop or if you’re tilting. Someone with the Garlean third eye will know exactly where they are in the loop, and also not get dizzy, hardly ever! Even if their ears are sending confused signals to the brain, the more rigid horn organ says no we’re fine we’re standing.

so where did this come from. Not a lot of documentation remains on the subject — some controversial studies claim it evolved for swimming. You’ll notice I called it a horn earlier, though it’s very very uncommon to actually see it grow into horn shape anymore. in 95% of people it stays a little nub shape, but sometimes can grow out or up in odd ways and maintenance is as important as cutting your nails. Some very few people out in the world are able and willing to let it grow out, where it kind of turns into a unicorn type thing? In even fewer people, funny enough more people who were cured of tempering than found naturally, a fasciation disease causes it to constantly grow in many directions, causing possible balance issues and nausea if left untreated (or if it curves back into your head that’s not good!), but it’s not a problem if you keep on top of it. If it’s left to grow it will eventually become vascularized, just like it is in the standard eye shape.

Drew my 15 year old brothers monster.

He’s drawing some super creepy monsters lately and my mother has been kind of “worried”. Me on the other hand am super excited so I drew him this. Laid out a creepy note on a printed version for him to find in the morning.

This one is called “the Bloodbeast” ans he emphasized, “its saliva is red, it doesn’t actually eat blood or bleed all over.” This I believe is a cover up by agents to conceal the gore this thing is capable of! Do not be deceived!

I kid but its funny to see him avoid anything too edgy.
