🌷: “how drunk was i?” with Quinn.

my body drips with sweat, my hair is falling from it’s updo, and i think i just lost one of my shoes; girls night is going swimmingly.

“y/n! stop! come put your shoe back on.” Amelia calls out from behind me. i glance back to find her trailing after me as i hobble off the dance floor, my heel in her hand and a frown on her face.

“oh, hey, i was looking for that.” my words are slurred, an aftermath of too many tequila shots and three long island iced teas. i stop, grabbing the lone shoe from Amelia and using her shoulder to stabilize myself as i slip it back on.

“i think it’s time to call Quinn to come pick you up.” she sighs. “let’s go find Ivy with our phones.”

“but the night is still so young.” i whine as she drags me behind her to our booth, where Ivy sits guarding our things.

“y/n, it’s almost two in the morning. the night isn’t young, it’s almost over.” Amelia sits me into the booth, digging through my purse for my phone.

“buzzkill.” i mumble, crossing my arms on the table and laying my head on top of them. Amelia steps away to make a call to Quinn, and Ivy keeps watch over me, though i don’t think she’s much help either; she’s drank just as much as i have, our only difference being that she can handle her liquor better than i can.

i raise my head back up to watch Ivy as she sips at a sprite, her eyes bloodshot and her lipstick faded.

“are you feeling fine? because i feel fine.” i say. she nods, her lips never leaving her straw.

“i feel great.” she mutters around the plastic between her lips. i hum in drunken agreement.

“me too.” i reiterate. Amelia steps back up to the table, heaving out a sigh as she flops down into the seat next to me.

“Quinn is coming to get you.” she tells me. “and then i’m taking Ivy back to my house. i would’ve brought you but i don’t think i can handle taking care of the both of you.”

Amelia was tonight’s DD. she only had one cocktail at the beginning of the night and then switched to soda, leaving her plenty sober by now to drive she and Ivy home.

we sit in silence for about ten minutes before i tried to escape back to the dance floor and Amelia had to pull me back down into my seat, satiating me with the promise of french fries when Quinn arrives. it’s another five minutes after that before my phone lights up with a text from him, telling me he’s here.

“c’mon Ives, let’s go.” Amelia holds a hand from both Ivy and i on our way out, making sure we don’t drift away from her like little children.

i smile when we step out into the chill Vancouver air, the breeze hitting my face.

“huggy!!” i beam when i catch sight of Quinn, leaned up against the side of his Audi. he pushes off, walking over and taking me from Amelia.

“hey, baby.” he coos, pressing a gentle kiss to my forehead. “you have fun?”

“yeah! it was sooooooo fun!” i drag out and he chuckles.

“i’m glad. let’s get you back home, yeah?” he leads me to the passengers side of his vehicle and i whine.

“but my french fries!” Quinn sends a questioning glance toward Amelia.

“i had to promise her you’d get her some in order for her to stay at our table.” she shrugs. Quinn nods in response.

“okay, baby. we’ll stop at mcdonald’s on the way home. how about that?”

a grin spreads across my lips and i nod in agreement, letting him help me into the passengers seat and buckle my seatbelt for me.

“you’re the best boyfriend ever.” i tell him.

“i’m your fiancé.” he laughs, and i inhale a gasp.

“even better!” he bites back a smile, closing my car door and jogging around to his own. bidding goodbye and a safe drive to my friends, he slides into his own seat and starts the engine, pulling onto the road.

“don’t forget my french fries.” i mumble, laying my head against the cool glass of the window. he snickers.

“you can forget where your laptop is while sober, but you can’t forget about french fries when you’re drunk.”

“mhm!” i agree. i study his side profile as he pulls into the drive-thru for the nearest mcdonald’s, ordering me a large french fry and an oreo mcflurry. “you’re so pretty.”

“i’m pretty?” he laughs, handing me my food as he pulls away from the drive-thru window, pulling back out on the road to drive home.

“yeah.” i tell him. “like your mom. your mom is so pretty too.”

“i’ll be sure to tell her you think so.” he’s barely composing himself now as i respond with a ‘please do!’ and his eyes flicker to me every couple minutes to watch me as i eat my fries.

does he want my food?

i hold a french fry up to the side of his face and he grins, quickly turning his head to bite it from my fingers. i giggle as his teeth graze my fingertips and he winks at me.

Quinn turns into the parking garage, parking in one of our two designated spots, the other being taken up by my own car, and shuts off the engine. he slips out of the car, jogging around the back to open my door. i unbuckle myself and grab my mcflurry and fries and he grabs my purse and then helps me out, holding my hand the entire way up to our apartment. he unlocks the door and pushes it open, letting me enter first before he follows, locking the door behind us.

“are you done with your fries?” he asks, and i nod, handing him the rest. we stand in the kitchen in silence as i finish off my ice cream and he eats the last of my fries. when we’re both finished, he throws away our trash before walking over and taking my hand back in his.

“let’s get ready for bed.” he tells me, leading me down the hallway to our bedroom. he proceeds to help me as i get ready for bed; kneeling and taking my shoes off my feet, slipping one of his shirts over my head after i’ve gotten out of my dress, handing me makeup wipes from the package on our bathroom counter, and assisting me in brushing my teeth, before getting ready himself.

i slide under the blanket on our bed, waiting patiently for him to join me, and he does so when he exits our en-suite bathroom. pulling me into his side, he clicks off the lamp on his nightstand and presses a kiss to my lips.

“goodnight, baby.” he mutters.

“goodnight, Quinny. thank you for taking care of me.” i speak through a yawn, my eyes drooping shut.

i wake to bright golden rays of sun shining through the open window blinds, and a pounding headache. before i can even open my eyes, i’m hit with a wave of nausea, making me hop out of the warm bed and rush to the bathroom, dropping to my knees in front of the toilet.

i hear footsteps follow behind me prior to feeling callused hands graze my neck as they hold my hair up, one of them slipping down to rub my back as i heave into the toilet bowl. i wait until i’m sure i’m done before flushing, dropping to my butt to sit on the cold tiles.

“thank you.” i tell Quinn.

“of course, baby.” he replies, getting up and retrieving my toothbrush for me, handing it to me so i can wash away the awful taste. i stand, a hand to the wall as i rise, and make my way over to the sink, thoroughly brushing my teeth before following my fiancé back to bed.

i don’t think i can fall back to sleep after that, so i opt for checking my phone instead, finding a message from Quinn’s mother of her saying thank you and that i’m pretty too. i scrunch my face up in confusion but send back a text of gratitude.

“why is your mom telling me thank you and that i’m pretty?” i question, making Quinn chuckle.

“because you told me last night to tell her you think she’s pretty. so i told her this morning when she called me.” he informs me.

“oh.” i mutter. “how drunk was i?”

how are we feeling about episode 14 and in general accirax. just checking in on the pals

hiya vivazaki! thanks for checking in :D in terms of how i'm feeling about episode 14, well, i know you sent this in before i made my episode 14 dissection, but if you read that i think you'd now thoroughly know what i had to say about that episode. although, i'll reiterate that it was thrilling to see an accusation finally levied against Eden (whether it turns out to be accurate or not) after speculating that it was her for so long, and great to hear more from Nico and Hu about their evolving dynamic.

as for how i'm feeling in general, i can't tell whether you mean about DRDT as a whole or about my life at the current moment, so i'll answer both. for DRDT, i know that some people have had issues with the pace of the Trial and/or the current choice of suspects, but given that i don't have a problem with either of those things, i'm having a great time! the prophecy was finally fulfilled, and i've gotten to go feral over all of the new sprites and cgs and dialogue. this Trial has been a wild ride from start to finish, and while it may not turn out being as involved as the fandom left to pick apart its every inconsistency might have promoted it to be, it's absolutely a case for the history books in my eyes.

in general, i'm pretty chill with where i am right now, other than that my plate is kinda self-imposedly full at the moment. i've got an important RR deadline at the end of the week, and with DRDT airing at the same time, DRDTtober looming in the near future, and some irl commitments to attend to as well, it hasn't left me as much time to write all of the theories and keep up with the sudden influx of asks i've been getting as i've wanted to. on top of all of that, now was really not the best time to fall ill. i swear i've gone through, like, an entire box of tissues in the past four days. i've certainly hit my tea quota for the month as well.

hey fun fact, my girlfriends coworker just quit and is going to Utah for a while. this guy smokes, drinks, does drugs, he's a real hippie. he's going for the nature and national parks and stuff. we had to be the ones to tell him he might have a hard time finding coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, etc because it's a predominantly mormon state! he had no idea!

he's just like...going to chill in the national parks? honestly good on him. i will say, my experience might be skewed because i don't use any substances (or drink coffee, I had to go back and add that because coffee is not A Substance unless you're Mormon) but when I went to utah I was with 2 people who do drink both alcohol and coffee and they had no trouble acquiring those in slc or around zion/bryce canyon national parks. slc has a large secular population and there's a lot of tourist traffic around the two parks so they know how to cater to non Mormons.

my friends don't smoke and no one was looking to do drugs so idk about that, and it might be harder to find even alcohol in areas that aren't the far north or far south of the state and are predominantly mormon without a lot of tourist traffic. i imagine you could probably get grocery store ground coffee at a supermarket but coffee shops would be pretty scarce.

that being said omg how did he not know that? I feel like Utah is so polarized in terms of its population/pop culture presence because it's like Outdoorsy Hippie Place but also Mormon Central.

also just musing but--the interesting thing about visiting Utah as someone who doesn't drink alcohol or coffee but isn't Mormon and was traveling with people who do is that establishments feel really polarized--they either don't offer things that don't conform to Mormon consumption standards (like those soda shops, they may have juices or flavored water or something lighter but they don't also offer coffee), or they are very obviously catering to non-Mormons and don't offer a lot of variety for either practicing Mormons or people who just choose not to drink.

Like we went to a restaurant that had a wine list, extensive cocktail menu, big bar right in the center, etc, and I feel like an equivalent restaurant in most of the cities I've been to would have had mocktails offered, something a little more fun and upscale for non-drinkers. This place had Coke, Sprite, or water. Similarly, we stopped at a trendy-looking coffee place that was either independent or a local chain so my friends could get a coffee. They had lots of different types of coffee preparations and a few different tea options and the only thing that a Mormon guest could have gotten was Swiss Miss hot chocolate. (Which is what I got, lol). These places were both in Salt Lake City. We did go to one place near Zion that had beer and wine but also a wider range of options for non-drinkers including this giant prickly pear lemonade that I ordered which was bright purple and unfortunately not very good kjesdfhdas I thought it was too sweet. Utah moment.

It kind of made me feel a bit weird personally...I felt like I was going to that coffee shop and the barista was thinking oh look at this cringelord Mormon ordering the Swiss Miss. but also on a sociological level it's really interesting because it's a real reflection of cultural polarization in utah, like I'm sure there are plenty of mixed friend groups that have some Mormon and some non-Mormon members, but some Mormons I think would prefer not to go to a restaurant that has a bar or to a coffee shop in general. (Appearance of evil, etc). And I think also like...some people who do drink may kind of look down on those who don't especially because of the religious context so you end up with establishments that basically offer the bare minimum in non-alcohol/non-coffee.

OK got around to new episodes finally so volume viii thoughts:

i guess starting with, has casa always been this long??? maybe I'm just bored this time around? Or it's just the amount of challenges and dates they've thrown in?? (it's the latter)

I tapped through the whole moangate thing as quickly as I could because it's so boring. I can't believe there are at least two separate times they ask you to pay gems if you want the tea on the topic and I simply couldn't care less. But like it also feels like the Brad and Christy stuff and then also the Rachel stuff and the OGs love triangle or whatever, and at least some of it gives you insight on the characters, but it never really comes up and there's enough in the main story to come up with your opinions on the characters imo.

Emel getting on my nerves again. Talked about this last time, it feels odd and I don't love having every woman that's not an LI be an enemy for MC and also stuck in a shitty couple, but not completely out of character given her personality I guess, so not the worse thing fusebox has done. However, I am slowly coming around on this because actually it does feel like such a thing on love island where you watch a character you like and slowly you get annoyed by them and they do weird shit that makes you mad but it's partly because they're forced to be around these people 24/7 with cameras watching and everything. Like that's the Stanford Prison Experiment part of Love Island, so like... I'll accept it 😂😂

Anyway so dates! My MC was with Shawn who I got kind of sick of during the date, which was so funny for me personally because his hobbies are like movies and cooking, which are my hobbies. He's also very chill and serious, which is also my personality. And he's from the U.S. So. Maybe he's too much like me irl I wasn't about it.

So the date was meh because I just kept having MC pick the non flirty options and she was kind of cold, but from what I see from everyone else, the date was pretty good and I'm glad. It is weird though that at the end of it, MC gets the option to say she's not interested, and Shawn keeps trying to save it. Like the islanders talk about their dates afterward and he says their date was great and can't wait to see where they'll go moving forward. And MC is just nonplussed when Emel starts gushing about him and he's uncomfortable, trying to stay on MC's radar, but my MC couldn't give a shit.

And I understand it's to make the branching easier, but I just keep thinking like,,, if only it was S2, because then it'd be like the Lottie going after Gary storyline. Like I can't remember fully, but in my head it plays out slightly differently whether MC is flirting with Gary or not. Either way, Lottie is a little upset at MC, but sometimes she has reason to be.

Date with CLAUDIA however, went very well. I was giggling to myself because like the conversation was very forward and cute and Claudia is thinking about them moving in together and stuff? Adorable. (Actually I can't remember if this was in this date or one of the other scenes, but the fact that there's so many scenes with the female LIs being so forward is great).

Also the Bea and Claudia tension?? Like I feel like we either get one female LI or the female LIs constantly swapping out once you pick one, so the fact that they're both fighting over MC is very cool. I love a good love triangle. And it does make me want to replay with a Bea route, because I think she's so cute too. Both her sprite and her personality, and she does feel like a different character from Claudia, versus Chloe vs Bella vs Flo that all kind of have similar plotlines and therefore have a similar shell of a personality.

Speaking of Bea appreciation: her outfits! So cute. I know she's a stylist, so of course, but honestly best dressed female islander.

Actually, all the casa guys and bombshells kinda eat up the OGs in the fashion department. (except maybe Tyler, but that's only because I don't remember what he wears.) Like, Luna and Oakley are probably best dressed OGs imo, but I also kind of don't like that they wear such dark clothing in a show that takes place in the SUMMER. Like it's an aesthetic, but also it's not that interesting (like compare their fits to Najuma's)

I've already talked about this, but once again, it does feel like we're fitting so many challenges and dates in one volume and we get no chance to rest. Like there should be more downtime to chat with the islanders, but they always need to get interrupted by a challenge text for some reason. Not to mention, Mr. and Mrs. is such an odd choice for a casa challenge? Like if you think about the show, casa challenges usually compete with the other villa and are more physical so that editing the episode can be less talking and more montages. And also then you get the comparison between how couples are acting apart from each other. (which, is also a thing missing from this volume.) So Mr. and Mrs. would be just edited as a lot of people talking and too many stories to follow.

On the bright side, I completely forgot what career I chose for my MC and I was trying to think about it for the last few episodes because I like to let that affect the personality/choices she's gonna make when I play the game. And as it turns out, my MC is a musician and that made me immediately think, oh she should've been more interested in Max, but for some reason I thought she was a lawyer. Doesn't matter now.

Also fun fact my MC likes r&b and so does Claudia so ya know, just soulmate things whatever 😁

So Liam's a dick, that's not new. But I will say, I like the way they presented his faults here. Because Dylan was so clearly a villain from the get go, and then Hamish is arrogant at first but then cartoonishly gross and awful within like two episodes, and everyone got upset about the Nicolas/Jonny 180s, so the bar was low. But Liam starts off arrogant, but confident he wants Bea, and he claims to be one of those people that just always tells it like it is as an excuse to be an asshole. And you really start to feel it here. Not only that, but he doesn't listen to Bea and I think it wouldn't work if Bea just accepted it but she doesn't take his shit. ("I have a nice voice too, you should listen to it some time." BEA OMG). Then later in the volume, there are game player accusations thrown out, and that makes perfect sense to me, he's just trying to tell her the right things so he can get in the villa.

Just to talk about Bea again, but like oh it hurts me so much when Bea is like "I have to couple with someone, why not Liam?" and that breaks my heart. I want to do the Bea route just to save her from Liam. And i know she's talking about the weird thing litg is doing again where they can't just let the single islanders be single, but in my head it's her just being like "no one else wants me" and settling for this dude 😭😭

I also don't understand how this game led to a date that Emel got to pick? (also the prize doesn't make a bunch of sense since we just got dates.) Like if she won with Max, you'd think she would just go on an extra date with Max or Max would also get to pick someone to go on a date with (and he'd pick MC because he's upset and I like to be messy but like maybe you could also reject and he'd pick Bea/Claudia).

i have so many thoughts this needs a part two (not so many thoughts as much as I don't know how to be concise 😅😂)

I don't know why so many people are so persistent with this idea that Fodlan's worst mom (using your terminology) dislikes Rhea, just because she criticizes her decisions? For crying out loud, she criticizes Billy for their decisions especially when they get stuck in Zaharas, but was willing to fuse with Billy so that they could save the day. They really be trying hard to make it all about Rhea bad.

Given how volatile FE16 is, especially since uwu and nightgowns, you cannot shed too much light on the Nabateans, and Sothis cannot be a likeable gremlin but also the same gremlin Supreme Leader vows to terminate, else Supreme Leader won't sell nightgown Cipher Cards (or not as much).

As a result, we end up with Sothis not reacting to the Nabatean plot and story (in FE16, we have the amnesia excuse, and when it falls, we have the "yeeted away by the plot" excuse) because Fodlan doesn't really want to tackle the "and those people were genocided and turned into shinies and saying Crust BaD is akin to saying "blood from this race of sentient beings BaD" else no turf war, no "maybe they're all fighting for their ideals" without spending 0.3 seconds wondering if one of those "ideals" isn't nauseabond, etc, etc.

We know Nopes!Sothis really doesn't like Agarthans, and from her battle quotes, thanks to voiceline anon, we know she plans on toasting their asses and even if she's rekt'd, she goes full Terminator "I'll be back" on them when the "time will come".

Story!Nopes!Sothis sort of weeps about her children turned into relics, and extra battle lines!Nopes!Sothis seems rejoiced to see her kids grown up (even if the lolcalisation lolcalised the crap out of her lines with Flayn.

Which makes... Story!Nopes!Sothis's lack of involvment in Supreme Bullshit or even Golden Shower all the more glaring - KT added and wrote lines where Sothis gives a crap about her kin, but in the canon, because player pandering is the way to sell subpar games, she can never oppose the player - on that grounds, no, if she opposes them, it's on the pseudo rivalry sold in the trailers between Billy'n'Barney.

We have a Sothis with her memories, who is able to be pissed bcs her children were killed, who remembers her bitter enemies, who shares her host's grief...

And yet, who doesn't move the little finger to protect or at least avenge her family members.

And I typed Rhea because it's always the best way to fish trolls, but it's the very same thing with Flayn and Seteth - Sothis knows who they are (or thinks she does for Flayn!) and yet will happily chill in Billy's brain as they hack them to pieces using her spine.

Really, the only thing I genuinely wonder about her is why KT bothered to add her battle lines/quotes depicting as, well, someone who at least cares for her family, if it's to ghost them in the main game for no plausible reason ?

Were they planning to sell a DLC with the assets we've found in the datamine (golden rhea sprite!) ? One that could and would shed more light on Sothis, her relation with her "creations" and with the Agarthans and Humans?

IDK, but imo Nopes is an example of a trainwreck, you can't sell a product that is so unlikable that your home fanbase disses it everywhere mere hours after its release, and hope to patch everything with a DLC.

Imo, Nopes getting no DLC and no further traction isn't only because Engage was on the way, but it might be because IS saw this, and went "okay stop we're taking back our franchise, fig off" to KT. It might have sold a lot for a musou, and reached the 1mil sales, that reception from the home market was something unplanned.

Tl; Dr : while the games play coy about what Sothis really thought about her children because Hresvelg Tea and whatnot, the Fodlan OST artwork is telling enough to reveal that, for some reason, as we're told but not shown especially not in the games, Sothis seemed to have cared a lot about her children (and also played the harp?).

Mini really, really just does not like cats. Gloam is trying to change this, but Mini insists they’re demon spawn and refuses to budge. He’s very much a dog person.

Kaleidoscope often gets asked what color his eyes actually are, but his response is always just “all of them”.

Sprite always knows what time it is, and sometimes mutters the minutes going by under his breath when he’s stressed.

Gloam often forgets how tiring it is to go back and forth between wolf and Hylian until he’s already done it too many times and almost passes out on the spot

Light is a bit of a neat freak, he’ll get dirty if he absolutely has too but he’ll hate every single second of it

Windy has a little tattoo of a seagull on the inside of his wrist, his grandma doesn’t know he has it and he’s planning on keeping it that way

Spirit also gets called Dove because of the bird on his hat, and actually has some Rito ancestry a few generations back

Era only has his blue scarf with him, but he’s actually got several different colored ones at home, he’s sort of got a thing for scarves

It's been a while but I'm pretty sure this was just an OC ramble, thanks for the ask!

So lets ramble a little about Thomas! Poor guy, lol

Well, not really 'poor guy' but like...so far he's my only "just a guy" kind of character. He's human, he's none-magical, and his best friend is Becks who's a human/earth sprite that kinda attracts trouble at the blink of an eye. He likes to say they were a pair of broken toys and their edges matched up, meaning they saw each other when both felt completely broken and learned trust and respect and help from the other. She keeps him phsyically safe and magically safe, he keeps her emotionally and mentally safe. Morsso than just being a detective with a magically-inclined partner, he also has to deal with being a primary target for an abusive vampiress that wants Becks back under her control and realizes that Thomas is standing in the way of that, so she tries various things from direct attacks to backstabbing to manipulating events and all of it just...doesn't really work. He finds a way around it, resists her words, survives her attacks....all of it.

And he's just a guy, you know? He literally has no magic.

He's just a guy. With a gun. He's got smarts, he's got compassion, he makes room for people to be themselves even when he's go zero context for why they're like that. There's nothing in his background that's an 'oops, look at that he was magic all along'. Nope. He's just...he likes raspberry sweet tea and sunny afternoons on a back porch that looks out over a patch of green (doesn't have to be big for him to enjoy it) with a good friend or two and some laughter. He's chill, he's friendly. He's not without his broken bits, but it only makes him try to understand where someone else is coming from.

Like...all the chaos of Becks' life just breezes past him. Not that he's not involved in it, he is, but like...his whole vibe is literally 'Chill guy that drinks tea and tries to help'.

And in all honesty I think it's kinda hilarious. Because he's just a guy that found a gal that was as broken as he was. She stopped him from killing himself by needing someone to take care of her. He stopped her from giving up by needing someone to save him. Becks and Thomas just constantly circle each other in my mind because they saved each other by literally just...being themselves. At each other.

Anyway. That's my ramble about Thomas, lol. Just a good ol' sweet-tea-drinkin' gun-totin' country-boy-turned-PI that loves who he loves and is kind.
