WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THE SUMMONING

Everyone talks about the Lords in Black's costumes in the Summoning, and the fact that the dance moves rotate in a pentagram, but you know what CRIMINALLY few people talk about?

The dance moves themselves, and how each of the Lords execute them differently.

Pokey's moves are very grand and theatrical, and there's a certain enjoyment in a lot of them. The way he does some of them makes it look like he thinks HE'S the one in the middle; he's the one the show is all about. Pokey's not just dancing for the summoning. Pokey's putting on a show, his own musical performance (sounds familiar?)

Blinky's the stiffest and most static with his moves. His legs are straight the entire time, and unlike the others, he doesn't move his head that much for some moves. Between the spouts of singing and dancing, he moves the least. Perhaps because Blinky's not often the one getting personally involved. He's not the one your attention is pulled to when he's doing his evil shit. No, you're the star, he's just watching. Therefore, he's not extravagant or fluent in his dancing. He's static, so he can still watch. (I also must point out how he frames his eye during his first move)

Tinky's fucking erratic. His moves are BIG, and they're uncontrolled. He looks like he's barely in control of his own limbs (during the "Whatever we want" part, his arms look like they're about to pop out of their sockets), and during many moves, he wiggles his head in a way that makes him look like one of those bobble-headed dolls. On top of that, he's very bouncy on a lot of the choreo. Tinky's pure insanity in the way he moves.

Nibbly's by far the smoothest and most fluent. Very few of his moves are sharp, all of them kind of blending into each other. They give the feeling that if motions of the human body would make sound, Nibbly's dancing would almost be quiet. You can see this the very best in the way he does the choreo for the "La la la la la, la" — especially in the proshot! Overall, there's an eerie sense to the fluidity of his movements, almost like he's a predator sneaking up on a prey.

Wiggly's sharp and precise as hell, but not in the same way as Blinky. While Blinky's a static and still kind of sharp, Wiggly's an eye-pulling and threatening kind of sharp. How sharply and precisely he's dancing here, that's how sharply and precisely he could snap your neck if he wanted to. Simply by looking at his dancing, you can tell that he's the leader, and that oh yeah, you're being threatened right now. (Another detail to note: in the move where they lean back and forth, putting their hands down and up, Wiggly's the only one who points his fingers downwards instead of upwards, once again mimicking his tentacles (another nother thing to note: his hands never leave the tentacle imitation, AKA Jon's index and middle finger are always stuck together)).

About The Summoning…

I know *why* they couldnt, but when it comes to the summoning I wish so hard theyd made jon be pokey. Just imagine if each vessel they took was the person they tormented. Nibbly being Linda. Blinky being Bill. Wiggly being… hm. He could be Wilbur or Howard? (As to not repeat Linda, though he didnt really torment her). Tinky would be Ted of course (which, can you imagine Petes reaction when a god shows up as his brother?). Pokey as Paul obviously. God its not plausible but I need it so bad. To *me* this is canon. This is my hc. They all have the same outfits by the way. I cant stop thinking about this Ive been thinking about it since NPMD came out. Please see my vision

So for starkid innit I've been trying to costume plan even though it's far away because I like to try and do themed outfits for concerts

I was originally planning on a starship ranger themed outfit

But then I found this top in the charity shop

and the colours running through it just remind me of these lights from the summoning sequence

I thought about it and was shall I say... tinlightened

So my new plan is to kind of go as the summoning and to make some Lords in black coloured pom poms to attach to a hairband to go with it

Am I a genius or does this make no sense?

THE LORDS IN BLACK in Nerdy Prudes Must Die!

I absolutely LOVE Wiggly’s characterization in NPMD. He’s in the show for less than ten minutes and he fuckin STEALS it.

Obviously he’s terrifying in Black Friday, that’s HIS show, but throughout the entire show he keeps up the cutesy persona to trick the characters, occasionally saying something rlly fucked up but still in that register (“RIGHTTT THE FUUUUCK UPPP” and “DEEECKKK THE HALLSS WITH UR GUTSY WUTSIES”).

But in NPMD, he’s a bit different and it’s INTENTIONAL. During The Summoning, he’s still using cutesy-speak, but his voice is a bit deeper as he’s not presenting as an innocent plushie anymore, he’s asserting his power over the teens and toying with them. When he gets excited, he loses the act and yells “WHATEVER WE WANT???” is a deeper tone. When he gets pissed, him and the rest of the LIB scream “WE DON’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR PHONE!” Finally, at the end of The Summoning, he’s completely dropped the act: “Pay the price, or FUCK OFF.” He doesn’t care if the teens go through with the deal or not, and because he’s not actively being worshipped by them or exploiting them like in Black Friday, he doesn’t bother with the niceties or particularly care. Overall, he just seems very done with them by the end of the song (bro did NOT wanna be summoned).

THEN, the final time we hear him, he grabs hold of Max and shows himself. His voice is the deepest it’s EVER been, and there’s NO cutesy-speak to be found except the teasing “Maxie” nickname. He’s ELATED to have another soul, and fully yells: “You’re in my world now, BITCH.” THIS is the true Wiggly—not masking his intent with friendliness, not playing nice to manipulate someone, not even toying with them, just FULL sadistic pleasure to have another soul to claim. And that’s SUCH an epic high note to end the character on.

Hats off to Jon for being to portray such a horrifying, larger-than-life character with such depth and depravity, not to mention his INCREDIBLE voice work and physical acting. I didn’t even note Wiggly’s terrifying laugh yet; I fuckin LOVE it and you can hear it in NPMD if you pay attention.

In summary, Wiggly is the best. Thank you.
