I've been rewatching Avatar and there's something so compelling about how Aang shines so bright that he gives Zuko a light to follow out of the dark. I think there's probably a moment where Zuko realizes that oh. Aang saved him.

it is in fact so immensely cute to me that tamaki is so girly. like shes literally so cute. presented as the princely male lead but you read past that and its like she looks exactly like her mom and shes the one getting the typical shojo heroine doki dokis and shes the emotional heart/balm of the group and shes a tragic illegitimate princess trapped in a tower that has to be rescued by her prince charming and there are strangely deliberate comparisons to a trans woman and shes always looking for an excuse to get dressed in girl clothes and her whole arc is worrying about whether or not people will accept her if she acts true to herself rather than the mask she puts on omg! just go on estrogen already!

I love it when time loops acknowledge the audience like it's a play like "hey you! Watching this! Are you happy now! Is this what you wanted! This!!!! You're watching this and doing nothing and you're still here watching this!" It's so good

man i'm barely halfway through episode 12 and i'm already sooooo annoyed because:

1) we get confirmation that namari's conversation with kiki and kaka is 100% cut out, with no intention of adding it in anywhere. hell even marcille's explanation of it feels a little rushed through

2a) other folks have pointed it out from the previews but marcille looks WAY more clean and stable resurrecting falin in the anime than in the manga. where is our unhinged haggard sorcerer moment???

2b) addendum to that point, i'm not a fan of how stylized the resurrection scene was drawn and how focused it was on the party's reactions. it felt too goofy and distracting. like this moment was THEE turning point for marcille's character in the story and they couldn't even give it the right gravitas

3) worse camera shots on the marcille and falin reunion/reaction compared to the manga. like man, you give us the baller through-the-skull view shot to end the last episode and then fumble on this???

with how great the dragon fight ended up being last ep, the dip in quality, care and the cuts chosen here feel like trigger's trying to rush through all of the "non-action" scenes to focus on their studio's comfort zone: flashy fight scenes. this is making me worry that trigger is just gonna completely prioritize fights at the expense of the story and characters. and if that is the case? i'm gonna be real fucking pissed

Canela continues to laugh nervously, trying to laugh off the moment as her own thoughts race in her head. What do I do, what do I do now! A sharp, pulsing pain quickly enters her head, causing her to groan and hold her head. She tries to shake it off only to be met with a dark, foreboding voice that whispers into her mind.

Canela’ shallow breathing transitions into slower breaths, as she concentrates to drown out the voice that torments her mind. Her spatula fizzes and sparkles, changing in hues as she chants a familiar song repeatedly to herself. One. Chill. Two. Chill. Three. Chill. Four. Open your eyes and worry no more. 

After a couple minutes, she brings the spatula close to her mouth, giving it a gentle peck as a glimmer of light starts to glow faintly. Canela raises it high and takes a long, deep breath. The tip of the utensil glows brighter, lighting up the area like a lamp piercing through its dark corners.

From her mouth, a thin light follows the breath as she exhales. As it floats out, the breath glows as if strings of light trail out and around the spatula. As soon as the strip reaches the orb, it expands and swells. Soon after, the light flares out from the spatula, and wisps of light and magic swirl around Canela and Charade.

The braixen mumbles a command and the light fades from around the girls, and disappears from Canela's tool. She straightens up from her bow slowly, and stretches her arms over her head while a big smile spread on her face. She then continues to stuff her spatula back into her tail, before planting her paws on her hips and saying quite loudly,

"Damn, that felt GOOD!!!"

netflix's the dragon prince: hey, we're here to ride the nostalgia wave from those of you who never emotionally recovered from avatar: the last airbender. we're gonna give you 7 seasons of a similar but insanely watered down formula depicting 4-5 different factions forced to work together for the fate of their world, while grappling with familiar moral quandaries such as:

growing up means not seeing things as black or white; they are actually shades of grey! every other theme in this show however, will contradict this. don't worry about it.

don't let the pain you endure turn you into a bitter old bitch. it's actually infinitely cooler of you to always, without fail, take the high road and be the Bigger Person.

since hatred and bitterness can't undo the wrongs committed against you, they are functionally useless emotions and you shouldn't have them. dummy.

we are all made up of Good and Bad, but only the actually Good Guys who tell the Bad parts of themselves to F off deserve to be happy.

retribution and revenge and violence are always Bad, and committed by Bad People only.

ik time loop suicide is a trite trope but the endless (2017) was honestly so fucking inventive with it. its sick. its awesome. and yet they lack the main ingredient that makes a good movie: charm. the protagonists have the charisma of a wooden plank. what could have been, brother. in another universe this movie wouldve changed the game. damn. they shldve hired actors for this… like the issue is that the movie moved nobody. i didnt feel moved. that was its sin
