So! Role call!

Pearl - Lieutenant Colonel Seyche Pearl, the Shifting Earth Alchemist. She became a State Alchemist before the Ishvalan Civil War and joined eventually joined the war. She was assigned to protect the military doctors. After the war, she was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and transferred to Central, where she now does field work and assists with the alchemical laboratory research efforts, specifically with Gem.

Gem - Major General Taylor Gemini, the Mending Alchemist. She was one of the top military doctors during the war, not just for her skill in the medical field but also in the literal warzone. Though she wasn't involved in the work with Philosopher Stones, she did hear rumors about it from the other doctors. She started researching bio-alchemy, earned her State Alchemist license, and eventually became head of the 4th Laboratory.

Impulse - Major Stevens Impulse. Impulse transferred from East to Central shortly after the war and came under Pearl's command. Old friends with Grian, Scar, and Skizz back from the military academy and through the war. He frequently accompanies Gem and Pearl, who are...notoriously bad at watching their backs.

Grian - The Windstorm Alchemist, I haven't decided on his real name yet but most people just call him by his title. Became a State Alchemist right before state alchemists were called in to Ishval and Impulse, Skizz, and Scar came under his command. Some time after the war ended, Grian decided to remain a State Alchemist for research opportunities and transferred to Central, coming under Pearl's command. Both of his arms are automail.

Near the end of the Ishvalan Civil War, Skizz died during a skirmish. Impulse did not take this very well and was transferred to Central not long after the war ended. Grian and Scar blamed themselves for Skizz's death because Grian was his CO and Scar's negligence was partially the cause of his death (though Grian would argue otherwise). While Scar was not a state alchemist, he does know alchemy.

So Grian and Scar decide to bring Skizz back to life. With predictable results. The rebound cost Grian's arms and Scar's legs. The two managed to drag themselves to Mumbo's workshop, leaving the poor man to freak out over his two friends who are both missing half their limbs.

Mumbo, with some help from his boss Tango, makes Grian and Scar new automail limbs. Scar decides to resign from the military and chills in Rush Valley with Mumbo, but Grian continues with his research.

After Grian transfers to Central, he, Gem, Pearl, and Impulse make some headway into Gem's investigation about Philosopher Stones, discovering the passageway under Lab 4 leading the Lab 5. Gem and Pearl go in first, discovering a philosopher stone and barely escape with their lives, Grian and Impulse following them to give backup. Grian gets ahold of Marcoh's documents before the Library burns down and him, Gem, and Pearl all have an aneurysm trying to decode it. No one is happy with the results when they're done anyways.

Also this is all happening in tandem to the canon events of FMA. This is about all i have right now lol I just needed to spill these thoughts from my head XD thanks for reading

i wrote some headcanons a while back in which steven stone exercises his academic prowess with his beloved

Steven Stone and his s/o in university ! ✧

So studious and princely; comes to school early to read in the school library

Probably unusually well-versed in taxonomy and calls everything by its scientific name in biology

Can always been found in his biology teacher’s room using the microscope on his rocks

A bit of an artist; carries around a faux leather notebook in which he draws/records his rock observations. rockservations, if you will !

Probably extends these sketches to botany. Loves drawing leaves !

Gives you some of his sketches with sweet notes written on the back.

Definitely a top student; girls and guys all crush on him. he rejected all of them until you came along ! <3

Strong in science and language. 

Is the type of guy to just. know latin

Not as good in music and mathematics.

If there’s a geology course, he definitely aced it already (probably in his freshman year)

A regular at a small, local coffee shop, and always orders the same thing. 

He took you to that shop for your first date with him, in which he nervously spewed rock facts, not knowing what to say.

Contrary to his put-together appearance, he has the messiest room ever. it’s full of books, papers, and tools scattered on the floor.

Study dates w/ him obviously !

But sometimes he gets so into explaining the topics in such depth that you end up leaving more confused than you were before.

Usually he’s really helpful though!

Steven brings a healthy and delicious home cooked meal to school everyday (he’d certainly make one for you as well)

He thought a relationship was not in his plans for university, but he can make an exception for you ! <3

OKAY OKAY ONE MORE POST ABOUT LISIA'S MOM!!!!

I think she never really liked the Stones all that much. I don't know how public it is that the Devon Company is using infinity energy or not, but regardless she always thought the company was pretty disrespectful to pokemon and it's environment. Then walks in the business meeting between Devon Corp ( the Stones) and their family for whatever reason. Remember that post I made about how Steven n Wallace first met? Yeah, so Lisia's mom was fully expecting to hate little Steven at the time, only to find out he snuck into the cave or origin, and dragged her admittedly stick in the mud little brother with him. On one end, she was upset that Steven disrespected their family's tradition like that, saying " it's a very Stone thing to do". On the other hand, she found it incredibly hilarious and liked Steven's grit. Especially when Wallace came home complaining about the whole thing. It was amazing, Steven immediately got on her good side lmao. I still think she thought he was annoying at times, like Wallace, but he grew on them both.

LMAOOO I WAS EXPERIENCED WITH IT i think it was mostly people trying to finish the pokédex?? because you can’t catch or get phione in any way but the manaphy breeding trick so before most people figured that out i was able to get a bunch of cool pokémon in return for my fresh out of the egg level 1 phiones and then other people caught on so the market got saturated and they stopped being in demand 😒 so i had to differentiate myself and started using tms and training them up which worked for a bit but eventually even that stopped working 😓

no because pokémon is INSANE w the kids doing everything trope like wdym the literal champion is telling MY ten year old ass to go and fight a literal god?? is that not their job…anyways yeah i think this method allows for the e4 and all to maintain their notoriety and authority as well as showing the flaws in kids doing everything (because reader is lowkey reckless for confronting the entire govt without a plan and she got lucky that the e4 + gym leaders has smth up their sleeves or else she would’ve been done for) so i like that route a lot!! also the image of reader and houndoom standing there exposing the government to a defeated mr mikage while the camera quality slowly gets blurrier and shakier and right before it disappears into static entirely there’s just a shot of her and houndoom abt to be attacked by govt pokémon and then there’s a region-wide blackout does cook a little i fear

yess it was the mt moon episode!! but ash misty and brock had a researcher w them iirc meanwhile mc trio is literally just the epitome of yolo 😭 they’re honestly like living their best pokémon journey vibes (especially reo and chigiri because nagi does get dragged into reader’s bs with some frequency so he’s not as relaxed as the other two) LMAOAO like while reader and co are fighting corruption and processing grief and enduring trauma mc trio is just fucking around getting gym badges and completing side quests HAHAHA they’re so stupid i love them 🥹 and yeah i think it was his mankey/primeape i forget if it had evolved at that point or not

i think it’s so funny that hiori just wanted nice pokémon to play with and he ended up with a super well balanced team which includes a pseudo legendary, a dragon type, and a prehistoric pokémon revived from a fossil meanwhile otoya wanted a cool strong team and he just has really cute pretty sweet pokémon 😭 although in his defense his pokémon are all really strong as well it’s just a matter of the aesthetics not matching up with the vibe he was hoping to curate 😩

to be honest i used a website that allowed me to input my team and it told me its weaknesses and i just messed around with that until i got to a team that didn’t have any glaring holes!! i’m super happy with it especially because of how unique some of the choices are…like let’s be real how many people are picking DONPHAN for their pokémon ocs 😭

swanna and barou #bestiesfortheresties 😜🤩 LMAOAO agreed some pokémon logic is kinda crazy but oh well!! and agreed it’s fun to give the pokémon personalities too!! within reader’s team we have houndoom who’s super loyal and cuddly but also strict w the other pokémon, galvantula who’s really sassy + has a napoleon complex + is besties with houndoom, dragalge who’s mostly rlly shy and keeps to itself but seems to like otoya’s greninja, aegislash who goes from supervillain to mild prankster after getting the beating of its life from houndoom (there’s no beef there but aegislash def has a healthy respect for houndoom and sticks close to gyarados after that), and gyarados who is CONVINCED that it’s still a baby magikarp that should be carried around by reader even though it’s ENORMOUS now (kinda like those huge dogs that try to cram themselves into your lap)

okay because hear me out…baby reader + barou find a really pretty rock when they’re playing so they break it in half to keep as like mementos of each other when they’re apart?? but it turns out to be houndoomite…and in the final battle both reader’s houndoom mega evolved so it kills its iwn brother as well as barou while wearing the proof of reader and barou’s love for each other…the way reader’s love for barou gives her the mental strength to command houndoom to destroy his body (out of respect to him/accepting he’ll never come back) and it also gives houndoom the physical strength to overpower its own brother and put an end to things no matter how hard it is…just thinking yk…haha…😭😭😭😭

LMAAOOA the galvantula downplay always goes crazy especially because a tried and true reader combo is sending out gyarados to use rain dance (100% accuracy for electric moves) and then she returns it so naturally her opponent is like what pokémon could she possibly have that’s scarier than a gyarados but then she sends out galvantula HAHAHA the opponent cracks up but they’re not laughing so hard when galvantula absolutely annihilates them w a combo of sure-hit electric moves and sneaky bug attacks 🤩

according to the wiki it’s cavasoz so that’s what i’m going with…anyways i THINK i have the teams down!! and i managed to avoid repeating any pokémon (more difficult than you’d expect) although if you see any repeats lmk so i can change it!! anyways in this au i’m going w the theory that the gym leaders have diff teams that they use depending on how many badges the challenger has (tbh this might be canon from pokémon generations or smth idk it’s miraverse canon) which is why some of the gym leaders seem noticeably weaker!!

I'm so sorry to answer this so late! I have a large amount of stuff I think about concerning those two so it was difficult to narrow down what to reply with that would make sense hsgdhsgd

I'm sorry about 80% of this is all specific to an AU I want to eventually get around to writing/drawing and has such specific headcanons lol

-their first meeting is not in Sinnoh, but in Hoenn and when they were still pretty young. Byron gets invited to some inter-regional thing, brings his kid, said kid wanders off and runs into yet another bored young trainer and they hang out for a while. They become friends over similar interests, discover they're from different regions, and decide to become pen pals.

-...not that the pen pals thing lasts more than a couple of years or so as Steven is suddenly busier with formal competitive pokemon training and Roark is also facing a little pressure to start considering pokemon raising more seriously.

-much later, years later, Gardenia will tease Roark that the guy he used to write all the time and had his first major crush on turned out to be a regional champion quality trainer. Isn't that so funny?

-they meet again years later when Steven visits Sinnoh for purposes of rock collection and pokemon. Steven finds his way into the Underground and happens upon Roark and... well, Steven doesn't want to admit he kinda forgot Roark but it definitely takes him a minute to remember how exactly it is he knows this man who seems to have recognized him on sight and is being oddly familiar.

-Steven spends the majority of his stay in Sinnoh with Roark, either being toured around the region or just spending time together because WOW do they have A LOT to talk about.

-(Gardenia and Riley* are very amused by this.) *in this AU Riley was found as a small child by Byron and got adopted into the family! Why not! The man is already mysterious and strange, may as well add to that! Also great opportunity to have the weird sibling dynamic going.

-(Wallace is also very amused by this because as Steven's Best Friend he calls frequently to know how his favorite rock nerd is doing on his big trip and oh, wouldn't you know it, that ridiculous man has fallen in love.)

-speaking of having fallen in love they both have their own separate realizations but they don't talk about it, they just get hit by those feelings real hard after Steven has to leave. Cue both best friends yelling at their lovesick idiots about not talking about it.

-they've exchanged contact info properly by now and will text or call one another but there's something special about writing letters to one another... they've also learned that phone calls can sometimes drag on well into the early morning hours with discussions of pokemon, regional myths, and rock/fossil nerd things.

-Roark will eventually go to Hoenn after being convinced by both Riley and Gardenia (with Riley promising to look after the gym in Oreburgh, despite that being a bit of a delicate decision) and he'll get dragged around everywhere by Steven. It is possibly the most fun he's ever had.

-the first one to ask the other out is Steven because he slips up and says "I love you" in a phone call and there is no way they're not discussing that

-their primary pokemon choices are both very nice but both very different... so they have a silly rivalry concerning Tyranitar and Aggron instead

-Roark tries desperately to keep news of his dating Steven secret from Byron as long as possible. This goes on for a surprisingly long time and later becomes a bit of a joke among Roark, Riley, and Gardenia.

-On the other hand, Mr. Stone finds out about his son now dating someone (and a trainer from another region at that!) pretty quickly because Steven is... not great at hiding things like that

-I like to think of Steven on again off again accepting the position of Hoenn pokemon league champion so sometimes he's there for a while to do champion stuff and sometimes he's taken off for Sinnoh for several months, you just never know

-you can take the boys to the coast but they won't swim they'll just sift through the fucking sand looking for rocks while being fussed at by the people they went with who want them to get in the water already damn it

-the first one to go in for a hug is usually Steven. the first one to go in for a kiss is usually Roark.

-Steven very much enjoys traveling and at the times Roark cannot go with him, he sends him SO MANY PHOTOS and mails him little gifts here and there.
