The bucket/tape monster from The Final Parable (Fanfic)

Something is different, but I can't tell what it is

The bucket was beloved, admired and worshiped. A holy piece of metal, ruling over everything there was, since the universe started existing. But times changed. And with the world decaying and humanity extinguishing, the bucket changed as well.

It seems to hold a deep secret within itself. Because sometimes at night you can see how it changes form and turns into a beast. A beast with a tape recorded voice, cut off and mixed, searching for the last bit of humanity in the world. You could even think it acts like a real person.

Its body is made from metal. It appears to be thick and sturdy, even bullet proof. It seems to be a trait the bucket carries on.

The head is attached to a long neck. The tape-head itself is always split in half and spiked with several sharp teeth. Meanwhile the body is split as well, but held together most of the time.

Its claws and legs are very sharp. With them, it rips the skin of its prey open, to eat what's inside.

The most recognizable trait of the monster though, is its giant handle on its back. It appears to be a body part which always glows. So you better look out for that, before the monster spots you first.

i love off color gems so the parable authority au is full of them. here's the current off colors in the au <3!

(technically all the diamonds [gambhorra'ta, curator, narrator, and 432] are off colors to contrast like. su canon. but i am still working out the kinks!)

timekeeper!

- tk's the youngest of the parable authority and is a white diamond. their body is off colored with pitch black hair, and a pitch black face. the rest of theirbbody is properly colored!

stanley

- stanley is a citrine quartz soldier with hyperpigmentation who came out a little late (not as late as amethyst) his exit hole was compressed vertically, making him a bit taller than the average quartz and slightly less broad. this doesn't matter as much but his hair is short! quartz soldiers tend to have longer hair but stanley has silly short curls :] stanley absolutely hates doing work but he doesn't complain. he does his tasks throughly but immediately wanders off when he's done, going to find mariella and bucket, preferring their company. kindergartener peridots Hate him! he doesn't go around other citrines at all, opting to hang around rose quartzes and amethysts because he's closer to them in height and whatnot. despite choosing to stay around other quartzes he doesn't really talk with them, just observing. he likes them well enough

mariella

- mariella is an ownerless salmon pearl! she's not truly off colored but considered somewhat out of place, especially because she spends a lot of time fusing. stanley sneaks her into kindergartens and bases a lot and they just kind fuck around for funsies until some peridot yells at them. stanley's quartz buddies are used to seeing her around and she loves seeing the other quartz soldiers. she's their favorite stray pearl and she wants to stay a 'stray'! she was supposed to be a trophy pearl but somewhere down the line no one came to retrieve her gem. she eventually formed in the reef by herself and mingled amongst other pearls before getting enough of a grasp on things to go out on her own.

bucket

- YES! bucket is in this au, they're an off colored bismuth! they're too short and too thin to be considered a proper bismuth, but despite this they're still big. like mariella, they have no real interest in their purpose anymore, opting to have fun and go where they please and whatnot. they do still enjoy building! they just want to build what they want, not what some agate wants.

December 23:

Today, Stanley seemed oddly secretive. This annoyed Narrator greatly, so much so that he came down to try and talk face to face with stanley, rather then face to... well, voice. It didn't help, infact stanley seemed more secretive, but he promised Narrator if he stayed in his human form all day tomorow then he wouldn't regret it.

December 24:

Today, Narrator spent the whole day in his human form at Stanley's request. He had thought this was so they could spend some quality time together, but it seemed to be the complete opposite. He barely saw Stanley all day and spent a good chunk of it wandering around the Parable grumbling to himself until the Curator found him and asked if he would like to join her in a game of chess.

December 25:

Today, Stanley surprised everyone with a Christmas party. Everyone was there, Stanley, Narrator, Timekeeper, Curator, Mariela, The Bucket, The Adventure Line, The Fern, and even The Tape guy were all in the employee lounge. It certainly surprised Narrator, and Stanley told him he wanted to throw a party. They spent the day dining, drinking and talking... (well, it wasn't actual food or drink, and most of them couldn't talk...) In the evening, Stanley gave Narrator a gift. It was a sleek, black notebook with the Narrator's name on the side. Inside was a handwritten note that read: 'Merry Christmas Narrator, I hope you write some more nice endings and don't kill me so much. Love from Stanley x' Narrator instantly started blabbering about how he didn't know they were exchanging gifts, how much he loved it, and how he thought that his patience with Stanley was quite enough of a gift already, but Stanley just laughed silently and kissed him.

December 26:

It turned out that the drink from the Christmas party was actual drink, and everyone, (including The Bucket and The Adventure line, do not ask me how they managed to drink), woke up with raging hangovers. They did not do anything today.

Stanley and Narrator have an interesting relationship, they could be interpreted in many ways, that might be why their dynamic is so popular, because there's no canon or fanon relationship between the two, it's as if the devs want us, the players, decide their relationship, are they enemies? Divorced husbands? Frenemies? It's up to you to decide, which is why in the Stanley Parable fandom there're so many different interpretations of Stanley and Narrator, they have so much creative potential! You could practically write so many stories just the two of them! Not only that it's fascinating that there's so much mystery in the game, who's the Curator? Who was the guy who recorded the tapes? Who was that person that appeared in Employee 423? WHO IS THE SETTING PERSON???? Who is Mariella? so many characters that are hiding in the dark, but who's really in control? The Narrator? Stanley? Or is it you, the player?

Certainly!

WAYYY back before Stanley, The Narrator aka Wesley created Jim, as well as Tape guy (who I've yet to fully design) In the role Stanley would be in. The first vessels in Wesley's parable, they did whatever the Narrator pushed the story towards. (I have this fun idea of Wes pretending the be the boss in the office hehe) But eventually Wesley grew annoyed, tired of his creations, especially ones that could talk. So like an abandoned goldfish, Wesley simply left them, for who knows how long (partial skip button influence). and you tend to go a tad crazy when that happens, eventually, Jim goes missing all together. falling outside the map and out of bounds, their file--and appearance corrupting into the worm boy we all know and love.

Now they live to avenge themself, by any means necessary, even if it means harming their coworkers after they were erased from the parable as a whole, or exploiting Stanley to keep the games coming. They meddle with the parable when Wesley isn't looking, holding it's seams together, and is there when a post-skip button Stanley goes Self aware. Who knows what they've been capable of, but for now they lurk undetected, hiding as a simple computer worm, they have an ego the size of them, and don't care for anyone.

I didn't want to mke what Wesley did un-forgiveable, I have a habit of doing sympathetic characters do unexcusable things, so my idea was Wesley was bad, but TK is worse. But of course everyone is absolutely in love with them, which I don't mind, and they definitely don't. Their design was partially inspired by Cym-K's second iteration of the Timekeeper (I miss them dearly I hope they're well.) and computer viruses.

TSPUD Theory: Tape Guy is The Bucket.

Ok first things first credit to @willvlogman who suggested this in a comment on some art I did a couple months ago, that concept has since been haunting me so I decided to go through the game and find some evidence.

Second things second I am very tired and I just wanted to get all this out there so sorry if this is poorly written

Not once in Tape Guy’s log does he mention The Bucket talking to him. Not once. He mentions the comforting aura, but he does not mention The Bucket speaking to him.

We know for a fact that this Bucket just has comforting properties, The Curator says that this specific bucket is special, likely due to those properties. The fact that the Bucket can talk and the fact that it can comfort don’t seem to be connected.

Tape Guy knows who Gambhorra'ta is, and more importantly Gambhorra'ta knew where Tape Guy was. He only decided to monetise the bucket a few seconds before he was found, meaning Gambhorra'ta was likely looking for him before then - and the Bucket itself mentions that it had ended up in trouble with Gambhorra'ta due to stealing an amulet.

The accent The Narrator puts on when talking as The Bucket does occasionally sound a lot like Tape Guy’s, granted this is mostly because both of them are British, but Tape Guy has a distinct regional accent which The Narrator usually lacks, unless he’s speaking in the voice of The Bucket, in which the accent is noticeable in certain words

If you guys didn't know, ASDIBAU ("ASDIB" will be referred to the in-universe cartoon, ala-70's to 80's, and the one with "AU" refers to this universe) is an RCP AU where a few details are present:

All of Broomstown besides the Rescue Team (specifically the RTs' counterparts) are part of a cartoon show with some sort of plot beats like Mr. Roger's Neighborhood or smth, but is overall a mix of Amanda the Adventurer (missing people and someone in the shows' tapes; also involves the outside world), The Stanley Parable (Narrator shenanigans in ASDIB and things being derailed when the wrong actions are taken), and a bit of TADC (forgetting names and trapping thingy) and likely Welcome Home? But mostly ATA and TSP. Might add Andy's Apple Farm elements but ehh—

If this ever becomes a fic, it will be ASDIBAU!Helly's POV, aka Harley Robinson. Follow him as he tries to get his uncle (Mr. Robinson) out of the tapes the former shouldn't had tried opening, resulting in the ASDIB's Narrator finding someone fit to play the role of the host, "Poli". However, everybody plays by improv to finish the ending of the last episode and it "()never goes right!()"

However, newspapers detailing cases of incidents about ASDIB's production's working conditions, Narrator's treatment towards Mr. Robinson—now having to take on the alias of the role he was forced in—once you view it under his controlling attitude, the unusual codes around the attic and the ones flashing on the antique TVs, the details behind Harley's blocked memories of his parents' deaths, and what his mother's last words are.
