The spawn of the stars
Space pirate au
(If Arkov had siblings)
Chapter 2: the pick up
There had been many times during Yargwin's role of captain where the crew had simultaneously asked "WHAT!?"
But Yargwin still had never gotten used to it.
"Yes!"
The caller exclaimed.
"Lry set a course for the dwarf planet their ship is on"
Yargwin's tone seemed more sturn than usual.
Lry told himself that It was most likely due to the....less than unsavoury comments that the caller had been subjecting his paradise to.
"Y-yes captain"
"See you soon~"
The caller hung up on them.
Arkov sighed as she placed her head in her hands.
She then walked over to where Yargwin was standing.
"Yargwin, I love you but why do you say things?"
He chuckled softly at this.
He loved how blunt she always was.
"Look, it doesn't take a genius to see that you and your....sibling don't get along, but you deserve to know what's in your file and you mum's will"
This made Arkov stop and think for a moment.
She had never considered that there might be more to what this hybrid body of her's could do and everyone just kinda assumed that the will was lost, so begrudgingly,
Arkov prepared herself to introduce her....family to her new found friends.
She went back to sit with Kalomos while she waited for the Hercules to land.
It soon became apparent to Arkov that everyone wanted an explanation, but no one was speaking up about it.
Until kalomos finally broke the ice.
"Soooo.....that's you're sibling?...you...have siblings...?"
Arkov sighed. This was going to be a long trip.
"Yes, more specifically, that was my brother, Oedipus"
"I didn't even know you HAD a brother"
"Well actually I have two"
This shocked Kalomos even further.
Arkov continued.
"Two brothers and one sister, you'll most likely meet them all when we go down there to help them, I'll introduce you"
This did excite Kalomos, but he had a feeling that he was about to step into some sensitive territory.
But the curiosity of him and the crew was becoming to much to bare.
"You....dont seem to get along that well"
Silence.
He tried again, now taking a much more direct approach.
"Is that why you've never mentioned them before?"
Before Arkov was given the chance to answer, an announcement came through the speakers.
It was Lry.
"We've arrived, may Arkov and Yargwin prepare leave the ship".
A few minutes prior with Yargwin and Lry:
Lry was following Yargwin, almost frantically, asking him the age old question,
"Are you sure this is a good idea captain?"
Yargwin, keeping his gase forward but still responded.
"Arkov deserves to have the information they're keeping from her, Lry, and besides,
I didn't appreciate the way he was treating her back there..."
In all honesty, Yargwin didn't know where he was going, he just needed to do something productive with the anger brewing up inside him.
They where supposedly her family, her sibling, why would they!-
He stopped his train of thought and took a deep breath.
Lry was going to press on but he could see that this was going to be one of those situations where there was no changing his mind.
The truth was that Lry knows pretty much everything that needs to be known about Dr Sosha's experiments.
Needless to say, he will carry out this 'rescue' with caution.
Once he had left Yargwin to his own divises, he began to communicate his brother, Vail.
"Im sorry Yargwin, I know these people are important to your paradise, but this is for the best..."
Back with Arkov on the Dwarf planet:
Yargwin and Arkov were the only ones to leave the ship to retrieve the hybrids.
Lry had initially planned on going but he had told Yargwin he had "somthing important to attend to"
The ship had definitely seen better days.
Arkov approached the ship and as she did, the ruble began to move.
The rustling got louder and louder.
Yargwin stepped closer to Arkov and that's when he burst from the recharge.
Oedipus.
Oedipus was a tall and fairly lanky man with deep blue, long hair.
On top of that hair was a pair of long, ram-like horns.
Much like Arkov's but where Arkov's curved backwards, his went upwards.
He wore a leather trench coat, with no shirt and puffy, black pants.
Exept one pant leg was longer than the other, with the shorter one revealing a cybernetic leg.
It took a little longer for Yargwin to notice the tail...
He looked exhausted.
Despite this, he still addressed Arkov with the same casual tone he did back on the call they had at the ship.
"What's up Arkov?"
She was slightly taken aback by this question but that was only due to the fact that he looked terrible after bursting through the broken ship.
"I-im fine...?"
He smiled.
"Well of course you are, you didn't just crawl through a shit tone of metal and rubble!"
Arkov huffed.
"Yeah well you owe me one now"
"Well, technically I owe your captain since HE'S the one who agreed to help us~"
That smile had turned into a shit-eating grin.
Arkov tried her hardestto protray a scowl.
"Oh by the way Abadon is currently getting crushed by the wing of the ship so maybe you wanna go help him"
As he said this, he brushed himself off from the damage the recharge had caused to his jacket and pants.
"Abaddons here!?"
Before he could give an answer, she went sprinting in the general direction of where Oedipus had gestured to.
After moving some metal to one side, she could see her aforementioned brother, Abadon.
He was scratching and hissing desperately at the ground.
His legs where underneath the wing of the dismembered ship.
"Aby..."
Arkov had tried to show as much visual worry as she could but then she remembered that the struggle to express emotions was something her and her brother shared.
She jumped down and began to pull on his arms.
He repeatedly said "Ow" In a fairly monotone voice however as she pulled, he got louder and louder each time.
After a couple seconds of this, Arkov sensed somone standing beside her, it was Yargwin.
He began lifting up the metal wing that had him trapped
Eventually giving him enough room to get out.
Once he was free, Arkov moved him into a position that made it easier to pick him up and put him on her back.
She turned to Yargwin as Oedipus approached the group.
"Thank you"
Yargwin smiled softly.
Abadon rested his head on top of Arkov's and began to address Oedipus.
"You prick, why didn't you help me?"
He sounded exhausted, but the anger made its way through his voice, which Arkov found a little alarming, he was never really one to show any emotion with his voice, let alone anger.
He must have been stuck for a while, that or he's in a lot of pain, thought Arkov.
Upon seeing all three hybrids together, Yargwin was beginning to see the resemblance.
Oedipus looked offended, but it didn't take a genius to see he was overselling it.
"Hey I was being crushed Too! Not everything's about you, Aby"
Yargwin began to wonder if he treated all his siblings like this and not just Arkov.
Abadon huffed and nestled his head into Arkov's hair.
She began to make her way back to the ship.
Yargwin followed on.
Once he was beside Arkov, he began talking to Abadon
"Let's get you into medical"
Arkov could feel her brothers breath in her hair as he sighed before replying to him.
"That would be nice"
Before they made their way onto the ship, Arkov stopped suddenly as if somthing had shocked her.
"Wait! Where's Electra?"
Oedipus scoffed.
"Please, you really think she'd let me live after crashing her ship? Besides if she was here don't you think SHE would have been the one to send the distress call? Nah she's back on shornatis"
Arkov sighed, Yargwin couldn't tell if it was out of relief or out of exhaustion.
In any case, once that mystery was cleared up, at least for Arkov, they continued retreating to the safety of the ship.
As they did so, Oedipus saw something out of the corner of his unnervingly sharp eye
Arkov and Yargwin were holding hands.
While alters have their unique powers, hybrids have a number of tricks up their sleeves, however luckily for everyone present, mind reading wasn't one of them, because if it was, about a 3rd of this group would be able to clearly hear Oedipus scream
"Oh F*K NO!"

Put this in the discord forever ago but I'm thinking about it again so trans fem Robin Jay in an au where she has other relationships besides the bats!
Thinking about Robin Jay who hasn't figured it out yet because he JUST got somewhere safe, for a given value of safe, and he's just starting to figure out who he is when he's not in survival mode
And Bruce doesn't really notice, Dick isn't around enough to notice. But the other people around them?
Kids are far more perceptive than people give them credit for, the boys at school seem to know instinctively that there is something that sets him apart from them. Something more than background or wealth. It's something deeper in the way that Jason sits and the way he talks and subtle hints in the way he dresses. Things they don't even know they're picking up on really. And Jason doesn't know what it is, what he's doing that's putting him so at odds with everyone else.
He sees Diana for the first time on TV when he's too young to really comprehend superheroes and villains and the world they live in. And he thinks "wow, I want to be like that." And he meets her in person hiding behind the mask of a boy whose name he stole, and he thinks this is what it feels like to have a crush. To admire the way her hair falls and lipstick just slightly smudged and the skirt swishes around her thighs when she fights. He doesn't know yet what gender envy is, and for the moment he feels like a normal teenage boy. He's not sure how he feels about it.
But Diana notices and she sees the difference between the men that ogle her, he longing for something deeper than intimacy, the very parts that make her up and the loss at not having them himself. She has seen many girls like Robin, so she helps in the way she helps all her sisters. By training with her, making her into a warrior because girlhood is like a sword, sharp and made to spill the blood of enemies, to protect those who can't protect themselves.
Dinah clocks the new Robin immediately. She was a girl like that once, a girl who didn't yet know what she could be, what she could do. She does what her mother did for her, when she was still young and scruffy and sneakily trying to wear her mother's heels.
Jason has never worn fishnets before. It's new and a little embarrassing because he knows this is not something that boys do...but he doesn't hate it.
He really, really doesn't hate it. And it's not even that big of an addition to the Robin suit but he likes that it sets him apart from Dick. A way to make Robin his own without feeling like he's failing. He likes working with Black Canary, he likes learning from her. He likes that she lets him match with her. He keeps the fishnets, and the jacket, and the earring. But he doesn't wear them in Gotham because Bruce wants Robin and what Jason wants means little in the face of the legacy he has inherited.
Alfred notices before Bruce. Everyone notices before Bruce. He notices that Jason prefers sweet, floral scents to more masculine ones. He notices that Jason's favorite pants are the ones that are so baggy they look like a skirt when his legs are together. He notices that Jason always seems to wriggle his way out of getting haircuts. He doesn't know for sure. He doesn't really know what to do about it. So he calls in help, because it's important for a soldier to know when they need to call the cavalry.
Selina remembers the first time she did a trick in front of Jason, the way his eyes were glued to her heels. Maybe she shows off more than she needs to, but she rarely gets such an appreciative audience.
Jason asks her to teach him. He doesn't know why he asked that. It's silly, and childish, and he didn't even think about it until the words were out of his mouth. But she agrees! And he doesn't know where she got the heels from but they fit. And they're barely anything, just Mary Jane's with platforms like some of the girls at school wear, but he can't stop looking at them. They make him just a little taller, maybe the same height as other boys his age. And when he walks they make a satisfying little clack clack clack that makes him impossibly giddy. He wonders what it would be like to dance in them, what Bruce would say if he saw them, how the boys at school would react. If their gazes would trail his legs and stick to his thighs the way they do with the girls.
For all his detective skills, Dick doesn't figure it out until he's told. Jason was just supposed to be spending the weekend with them but he's spent most of his time hiding in his room or following Donna. He thinks maybe it's a blooming crush but when he suggests it she just looks at him, that placid little eyebrow raise that means she knows something he doesn't. She asks him when he will bring his sister back.
Jason watches the way Donna does her makeup, the perfect swoop of her eyeliner and the glittery highlight that brings out the curve of her nose. He watches when Kori puts on her fashion shows, the delicate straps over her strong shoulders and the way her skirt fans out when she twirls. He admires Ravens hair, the purple so dark it looks black until it's in the sunlight, long and thick and all the way down to her waist. He supposes he's not as subtle as he thought because the first time he tells her his real name she asks if he's sure. Of course, he'd told her then, not sure what she could mean.
It sticks with him though, a needling in the back of his head. Is he sure? He thought he was. His name doesn't sound right anymore, it seems to rot in his mouth when he introduces himself to people. It was the name his parents gave him, it's the only name he's ever had. He has Robin, but Robin is not his. The next time he visits his mother, when she finally has a grave to rest, he asks her what else she would have named him. The stone does not answer, but looking at the letters engraved on it gives him enough of an idea.
It takes time to work up the courage, even to himself. He only manages under the cover of darkness, safely locked in his room after patrol. He faces the mirror even though he can't see himself, it's better that way. Cathy he whispers, his voice soft and quickly swallowed by silence. It's not...right. but it's better. He does it again and he thinks he likes the sound, likes how light his voice is. She starts looking up names.

The Spawn of the stars:
Space pirate au
(Happy (late) 3 year anniversary gba!)
~ everyone knows that Dr. Arkov Sosha made her little Arkov in order to complete her unfinished business with the pirate King, but what if......She wasn't the only one? ~
Chapter 1: the caller
Everyone was still coming off of the emotions from the events prior to now.
A rift had opened up to reveal an alternate version of Yargwin's sureget brother, who is dead in this reality, Servos decided to leave with him and his crew and on top of all that Arkov had come so close to telling Yargwin about.....everything.
Too close.
It was safe to say that the flesh heart pirates were all fairly emotionally exhausted.
However, it would seem that respite wasn't something that they would be blessed with today.
As Lry came into the main hall to tell Yargwin some strange and slightly concerning news.
"Captain, there's a call coming in from a ship located on a dwarf planet thats close to us"
Yargwin gave him the same look of confusion and concern that Lry was giving him.
"What?"
"I said-"
"No, I heard you the first time Lry, it's just that that's a bit....strange...."
"Do you think it's....him?"
Kalomos interjected from across the table, voice riddled with anxiety.
"No, it's not likely"
Reassured Lry.
"Oh thank goodness"
Kalomos let out a breath of relief.
"No, it's far more likely to be a distress call from a crashed ship"
Yargwin thought for a moment.
"Answer it and put it on the live feed so everyone here can see it"
Yargwin was genuinely curious as to who the people calling were but he knew that having everyone there would give him a wider perspective on what to do if these people really did need there help.
Lry answered the call and the screen at the end of the mess-hall-long-table revealed an unfamiliar face that was hard to make out due to the poor quality of the camera on their end.
Looks like Lry was right, whoever this was, their ship had definitely crashed.
The figure on the screen, after panting a few times, began to speak in an extremely relived tone.
"Oh thank the stars that worked!"
Then they began addressing the crew they had called
"Hello, this is Oedipus Ex. 2.1, calling from the "Casper". My crewmates are all indisposed but I managed to remember how to make contact with other ships close by. In any case, all I need from you is to answer me this question.
Dose anyone on your ship go by the name 'Arkov Ex. 3.1 Sosha'?"
Immediately, everyone's eyes turned towards the hybrid they had all come to know and trust, hoping for an explanation as to who this caller was.
"Oedipus!?"
Arkov exclaimed in disbelief.
Arkov was a considerably hard person to read when it came to emotions, so it was a surprise to most of the crew to hear her sound so shocked.
"Well that answers that question"
The caller began.
"Hey there sibs, how's it hanging?"
Everyone thoughts seemed to synchronise as they looked at Arkov slacked- jawed and confused.
The callers demeanor had certainly changed from 'panicked and in need of help' to 'layed back and casual'.
None the less, Arkov ignored the large amount of eyes on her and keept her focus on her pre-established sibling.
"What are you doing?"
Arkov asked with the same confused demeanor as everyone present.
"I crashed the ship"
He said blankly.
"Well I gathered that much, but what are you doing flying a ship all the way out here anyway?"
This was a valed question, however it was promptly ignored by her sibling.
"Look, I don't have time to answer questions, I'm literally about to be crushed by our mums ship! Can you come get us or not?"
Yargwin was about to intergect, as it was ultimately HIS decision, but he hesitated and Arkov answerd before him by asking this mysterious caller a question in her monotone voice that he had come to love.
"Would you do it for me?".....
The crew didn't have much context behind this conversation or the realationship between the two, other than that they were apparently siblings and that one of them is I danger.
So you can imagine their combined shock when this solem question was met with a blank and almost cocky:
"Oh absolutely not"
Arkov's facial expression after hearing this said it all, so Yargwin, offended on her behalf, shot Lry a look that said "Cut the feed" but before he could, the caller's began to protest
"Wait, wait, wait! Arkov, you know I'd never ask anything of you unless it was an emergency and I'm not the only one on this ship, less you forget! So are you really gonna sacrifice the rest of our family? all because I'm 'kinda mean to you sometimes'?"
His voice had a dramatic tone to it.
It almost sounded condescending.
In any cases, this caller's general attitude towards the crew's hybrid friend gave them all a bad feeling.
Arkov looked down in thought and after there was no response, the caller sighed.
"I.....have your file"
This statement made Arkov's head jolt up in shock and curiosity.
"What? How? I-I thought mum had it?...."
The memory of her reading the personal file that her mother had made for her for the first time flashed across Arkov's mind.....
'I miss her' she thought.
However this precious memory was interrupted by her siblings unapologetic and in no way sensitive tone.
"Yeah well it's kinda hard to HAVE anything in her current state, now isn't it?"
This was certainly a joke I poor taste and it was met with dropped-jaws from the crew, and embarrassment from Arkov.
"So what if you have my file? I've already Ted it"
The caller chuckled.
"You've read the censored version, I have the....uncut version~"
Arkov was taken aback by this.
Surely there was nothing about herself or her hybrid body that she didn't already know about...right?
She thought to herself.
"....what?"
Another sigh came out from the mess-hall-speakers.
"Mum only showed you the stuff she deemed important, the rest of the stuff was on a need-to-know-basis
And you didn't need to know"
At this, Arkov stood from up from her chair agasent to Kalomos and in a demanded to know what he was talking about.
A loud, grinding noise came from the speakers, it was sounding like this caller didn't have a lot of time left to convince the flesh heart pirates to come and save them.
He cursed under his breath once the noise subsided.
He quickened his tone as he began to give Arkov the explanation she demanded.
"Look, mum deemed certain stuff about your hybrid body to be a....distraction from your mission, so she left some stuff out, stuff like wether or not alcohol effects you, wether or not you can have children, what age your most likely to die, all that fun stuff!"
That second example shocked Arkov.
She had never even considered having kids, hell, she didn't even know if she was capable of doing so!
'I guess that was kinda the point' she thought.
The caller was now really starting to get desperate.
"Look! You have to help me-us! I - shit - ill even throw in mum's will! Just get over here!"
That had done it.
Arkov went very quiet.
Kalomos had been silently reacting to all this along with the rest of the crew, but he was currently the one closest to her, and this was the first time she had genuinely scared him.
"You've had mum's will......
AND YOU DIDNT TELL ANYONE ABOUT THIS?"
"Look, I had my reasons!"
He protested.
"Really? Because to me, the only 'reason' for you to do somthing like this would be to make me like you less!"
Yargwin hadn't seen Arkov this upset since the day he 'left her for dead with Mortalous'
And he didn't appreciate it.
Her sibling still went on though.
"Well the feeling is pretty damn mutual, but the stakes are WAY to high right now for me to care! So are you helping a brother out or not?"
After this, Arkov seemed to be calmer.
But was still clearly not at all happy with her sibling for putting her I this position.
"Look, even if I wanted to, it's not up to me, it's not MY ship. It's ultimately up to yargwin-"
"Where coming to get you".
(End of chapter 1. Our journey will continue~)
(I just wanted to say that I came up with this idea at the end of space pirates season 2....so over 2 years ago! And I've been putting off posting this anywhere for literal years so I don't even care if no one reads this at this point I'm just glad that this can finally stop sizzling in my drafts)
