Anyone else get really fixated on the idea of one story in particular getting things recovered? This one story that just haunts you because you desperately want anything of it back or genuinely believe could have something out there? Because this is the inside of my head 24/7

This screenshot of the First Doctor's face from The Smugglers is honestly a good summary of him. He's just a cunning little shit who both gives no fucks and cares deeply. A hurt man outcast from his home planet seeking adventure, ideally not alone.

Doctor Who Companion Actress, Anneke Wills, Wants The Smugglers to be Animated Next
#DoctorWho Companion Actress, Anneke Wills, Wants The Smugglers to be Animated Next
Anneke Wills, who played First and Second Doctor companion, Polly, says she’d like to see her favourite Doctor Who story, The Smugglers, to be animated. The four-part First Doctor story is missing, believed completely wiped, from the BBC archives after the corporation’s policy of junking episodes to free up reels. But many lost classics have been animated, including The Evil of the Daleks, The…

The Smugglers The TARDIS arrives on the coast of seventeenth-century Cornwall — much to the astonishment of Polly and Ben. Pirates led by Captain Samuel Pike and his henchman Cherub are searching for a hidden treasure, while a smuggling ring masterminded by the local squire is trying to off-load contraband.
The Doctor inadvertently learns, from churchwarden Joseph Longfoot (who is subsequently murdered), a cryptic rhyme that holds the key to the treasure's whereabouts. He is then kidnapped.
Although he escapes, the Doctor is eventually forced to tell Pike the rhyme's meaning — it refers to names on tombstones in the church crypt — and the treasure is uncovered. At this point, the militia arrives, summoned by revenue officer Josiah Blake. A fight ensues in which Pike and many of his men are killed and the rest taken prisoner. The Doctor and his companions meanwhile slip back to the TARDIS.
42 The Tenth Doctor and Martha follow a distress signal, only to be trapped on a spaceship hurtling towards a sun with only forty-two minutes left till impact.

‘Cherub,’ he roared. ‘What in hell’s name have you dragged in here now?’ ‘Dragged in, indeed.’ said the Doctor tartly.

Man really a shame we don't get to see these half drunk pirates actually fight alongside Pike and Blake. I think the end of this serial would be much fun to actually see.
