being a multishipper and polyshipper is so funny because there's these little groups of characters you ship with each other but there's so many groups and sometimes you ship people in the groups with each other or the whole group with each other at the same time in a poly relationship and when you're reading fanfics and there's a breakup of one ship for another ship you're happy and sad at the same time because you love both ships and can't decice between them
and this happens for every single fandom [with few exceptions like gravity falls]

The Savannah Kids Headcanons (Mostly stupid or smth)
-It would be a funny thing if Aiden were to drive a car the others would be scared to death because of Aiden's recklessness.
-At some point Logan and Ash are comfortable with each other that Logan can freely go in Ash's house. Mike and Emma don't mind it and they welcome him like he's also their child.
-Whenever there's thunderstorms Ashlyn would be under her blankets with her noise cancelling headphones on and would say to herself "I'm a teenager, I'm not a child so I'm not going to my parents" only to find herself cuddled up to her parents 1 minute later.
-Speaking of thunderstorms the twins also can't handle them and would go to their mother.
-Whenever Logan wants to visit Ash at midnight he would text her and the first thing he says is 'knock knock I know you're in there come out now'. At some times Ashlyn would mistaken him as a hacker that knows her address so now she has a bat on her side of the bed and would carry it when Logan messages her. (Sometimes would hit Logan, but Logan would dodge it because it's becoming a routine)
-When Tyler and Ashlyn get mad at each other the others form a circle around them and bet who's going to win the battle.
-Ashlyn and Logan once found a dog. Whenever Aiden tries to recklessly play with it Ashlyn beats the shit out of him mentally. Logan tries to set it free because it kept on shitting.
-Speaking of dogs since Logan keeps on forcing Ash to watch horror movies, as a payback she let's loose a random stray dog in Logan's room and the dog ended up shitting next to Logan.
-Ashlyn has a soft spot for dogs. Whenever she's infuriated at Aiden he would pull out a random picture of a puppy and she would go "aww". It's Aiden's only chance of living.
-When Aiden plays monopoly he would laugh like a mad man every time he does something. He also used the money as a fan to give "rich kid vibes".
-They share the same playlist. Aiden would add questionable songs and Taylor or Tyler would be the ones to remove them to save the other's innocence (if they have one).
-When Tyler's angry as fuck he would use a nearby object no matter how heavy it is as a weapon and would throw it at someone. If he can't, he'll destroy it. If he can't then he'll use his shoe (inspired by a fellow classmate of mine)
-As a child when Aiden was home alone he would jump down the stairs to feel adrenaline and when he broke one of his ankles he would walk it off (based on a true story of mine ig)
-When the gang was hanging out in Ash's house Ashlyn once let out a loud, blood curling, ear piercing scream. Only because there was a snake in the kitchen.
-Ben and Taylor are scared of My Little Pony because Aiden showed them those MLP infected slideshows on tiktok.
-When Tyler first played baseball he accidentally threw the bat when he tried to hit the ball and the ball ended up hitting his nose.
Yeah that's all ig. They're pretty stupid and inaccurate.

FLAMING HOT TAKE INCOMING, DISCLAIMER FIRST: punch out is a game with no lore and little to no characterization so it’s natural that different people have different takes on a character and I 10000% respect that and I love seeing how people interpret stuff differently from me!!!!! this is not a dig or a diss this is just personal observation!!!!!!!!!!
i don’t get why the overall fandom consensus is that don flamenco is head over heels in love with the blonde lady [that the fandom calls Carmen (this I do understand why)] in his cinematic trailer. it’s always been apparent to me that this guy is supposed to be like a casanova/serial womanizer/harem enthusiast douchebag kinda guy.
1. country of origin and profession: every enemy character in this game is supposed to be an exaggerated cultural stereotype/caricature, so it’s natural to assume that most of their character traits are not meant to subvert audience expectations, and flamenco is no exception! Spaniards are stereotyped as carelessly romantic, and toreadors seem to be associated with more socially conservative or dare I say, sexist/woman objectifying behavior. it would be logical to presume that flamenco also embodies these traits
2. contender intro slideshow: most people (and I as well) like to use the final slide of his contender intro as evidence of his romantic status. however, I fail to see how it shows him as faithful; on the contrary, the fact that the girls around “Carmen” are a. (for one of them) also wearing roses - the same color as the one he’s giving her, in fact - and b. clearly looking shocked and disgusted seems to show me that those girls were also the object of flamenco’s short-lived affection and that the blonde girl is just his next “target” so to speak.
now how to justify his in-battle voice lines referring to his affection for carmen? well look no further than Carmen, the opera by Bizet, where the titular Carmen ends up being with a toreador (like don flamenco). it could be possible that he uses “Carmen” as a pet name for all of his flings rather than the actual name of his one true love
please feel free to prove me wrong bc I see nobody else with this interpretation and I wanna know why everyone agrees that he’s a faithful boyfriend/malewife lmao
#punch out#punchouthottakes#don flamenco#carmen mi amor#this was the one I thought tumblr deleted I’m so glad it didn’t cause this is really well written#ANYWAYS I find all your points very interesting and honestly I didn’t consider them from your point of view anon#I can understand why someone would see Don as just a womanizer it does fit into his stereotypical character#However as a cardon lover… I have a counterpoint#1) She has a more distinct design than all the other background characters. She still has the beady eyes the bg characters have#But her dress is so damn ugly I feel that it was intentional? Like why else would it look to different from everyone else UNLESS#She’s supposed to stand out as Don’s one love. There’s a bunch of others who love him but he still loves his Carmen even with that dress lo#2) for the “malewife” point take a look at Don’s NES quotes#For some reason he just randomly references Star Wars. Sure that could just be a reference from the game developers#But this is punch out we have SCRAPS when it comes to character interpretation#Don randomly referencing Star Wars makes me feel like he has some dorky side to him and he hides it with his whole Bullfighter persona#And so him being a malewife could be from the fact he’s secretly a dork and so surely he’d be all dorky and cringe with Carmen#Sorry this was long but again I LOVE discussion about the game#FORGOT TO SAY THIS TOO but Don’s VA said himself that Carmen was Don’s love#at least that’s how he saw it so take that info as you will

Diane Arbus sources and books
Spent a few hours at the Los Angeles version of "cataclysm" ( also in NYC in 2022, both based on the 1972 MOMA exhibit) and naturally went back down the Arbus rabbit hole. If you are in New York this summer, a must-see is the "Constellation" exhibit, until August 17, for which this will also be useful background information.
Sources
The Met The museum acquired the Arbus archive from the estate in 2007. Their collection page has 303 photographs. Quality of scans and jpegs on the site are extremely poor, some of these even look like they are shot through glass. Crops sometimes obscure the borders Arbus / Selkirk made while printing. There's not even a "introduction to Diane Arbus collection" or biography page. They have objects like her Rolleiflex. In 2016 they mounted an exhibition of early work.
MOMA 84 works online, photographs are full-size of the print paper, good quality and match toning.
Exhibition page for 1972 "Diane Arbus." Includes installation shots and a checklist PDF. Exhibit was the most popular single artist show up to that point and traveled widely, millions of people attended.
Exhibition page for 1967 "New Documents" (including 32 Arbus photographs, according to the PDF checklist). One of the most influential photography exhibits of the second half of the 20th century, remarkably didn’t have a catalog until 2017.
Zwirner Gallery Zwirner and Fraenkel jointly represent the estate. Zwirner site includes handful of large, high quality photographs that closely match the prints when viewed on a 27" Apple display. Various exhibition pages include related videos.
Fraenkel Gallery Artist page and Arbus CV PDF, current to 2025
Christie's The top auction results for an Arbus is a photograph of the twins that sold for $1.2M and a box of 10 photographs for $1M.
1972 Documentary 29 minutes. Features interviews with daughter Doon, Lisette Model, John Szarkowski. Arbus’ lecture notes are read over a slideshow.
Books
The Zwirner “cataclysm” exhibit had a reading table with a handful of currently available Arbus books. I paged through the various books minutes after looking at the actual prints to compare reproduction quality. Arbus cared deeply about resolution and detail in her prints, part of why she went from making 35mm negatives to 6x6cm (and then at the end of her life to 6x7), so it's unfortunate there aren't more volumes focused on reproduction. (If anyone at Zwirner books comes across this post, here's the pitch: "cataclysm," but printed in the same size and resolution as "Box of Ten Photographs")
Aperture monograph, 1972 One of the most popular photobooks of all time, it was created at the same time as the 1972 exhibit (using Selkirk’s prints) and is the de facto catalog for the exhibit. It has 80 photographs versus 115 in the MOMA exhibit. After seeing the actual prints, the size of the photos and reproduction quality are underwhelming.
Magazine Work, 1984 Compilation of portraits made for magazine assignments, some have captions and longer text written by Arbus. Some scans of the magazine features for context. (archive.org scan, requires login)
Untitled, 1995 Third Aperture publication, focused on a single project, portraits and group portraits made at a New Jersey mental institution and residence. Edited by Doon Arbus. Perhaps the most discussed part of the Arbus' oeuvre, the edit and design of this book certainly influenced the trajectory of discourse. (archive.org scan)
Box of Ten Photographs, 2018 A facsimile of the only Arbus-edited work. This is the closest experience to the actual prints, large 11x14 book with great quality printing. The photos resemble the smaller 9-something-inch prints Arbus was making before moving to 14-inch. Features Arbus’ handwritten captions on transparent vellum-like paper. Book-flip through video.
Revelations, 2003 Exhibition catalog for a massive traveling retrospective organized by SFMOMA that relied heavily on biographical sources, diaries, letters, her datebook. (archive.org scan)
In the Beginning, 2016 Large hardcover catalog for Met exhibition looking at work from 1956-62, from using 35mm to her earliest use of 6x6. The 35mm work is street with an edge, in the vein of William Klein, Helen Levitt and Robert Frank. Reproduction of grainy, motion blurred, pushed film is close to the prints. There's an interesting chapter called "Notes from the Archives," where specialist Karan Rinaldo explains the process of precisely dating a handful of the photos with other sources. Must have been a large print run, because used copies are going for $13.
Chronology, 2011 Primarily text, diary, letters, offers exactly what the title promises. Somewhat overlaps with the "Revelations" catalog, but with less photography.
Documents, 2022 A compilation of criticism featuring reproduction of the actual magazine and newspaper layouts, with a scrapbook design vibe. Video trailer by Zwirner.
Family Albums, 2003 Exhibit catalog around the theme of the family album, related to portrait sessions in the home or group portraits. (archive.org scan)
Jeu de Paume exhibit (catalog en français), 2012 (archive.org scan)
Biographies
These are all available as ebooks (including library / Libby)
"Portrait of a Photographer" 2016 Arthur Lubow (exhaustive and widely considered definitive)
"A Biography" 1984 Patricia Bosworth
"An Emergency in Slow Motion" 2011 William Todd Schultz

paul mpagi sepuya’s stripped and unadulterated depictions of queer blackness
(Paul Mpagi Sepuya (b. 1982) Mirror Study, 2017)
Happy pride month!
Pride month always gets me thinking about queer artists (duh), and one who stands out to me is Paul Mpagi Sepuya. His work (literally) frames the queer experience as fragmented, intimate, and deeply rooted in the construction of the body and gaze. Through tender, thoughtful depictions of the Black male nude, Sepuya explores how the black body has been historically fetishized, particularly within gay male desire.
To reclaim and reframe that experience, Sepuya often strips his images down to the essentials: simple compositions of himself, his lovers, his friends, and their bodies. His work is a visually quiet but materially radical declaration of American visual culture: that he exists not as an object, but as a site of connection, mourning, pleasure, and relational aesthetic.
Disillusioned by the white, male-dominated canon of Western photography, Sepuya resists the tradition of reducing blackness to a spectacle. He contests the idea of using blackness or queerness as aesthetic devices to enhance otherwise unremarkable work. This critique hits especially hard when you consider how many white photographers attempt to position themselves as insightful simply by featuring “non-normative” subjects oftentimes without engaging or understanding those subjects on a meaningful level.
If I sound bitter, it’s because I had a photography professor in undergrad who embodied all of this. A white man who believed that taking B&W portraits of people of color somehow made him an authority on queer and Black studies. Most of his lectures were tedious, self-interested slideshows of his personal work. I’ve always been skeptical of white male photographers with nuclear families and gallery shows who pride themselves on being “introspective, deeply analytical artists of the lens” just because they shoot street photography of black and brown subjects in urban areas.
Anyways, happy pride! Let this be month be a time to remember, share, and study the rich history of pride! And of course, never let a white man ruin your pride.

Twitter is a mess. People in the English-speaking bllk fandom have been commenting on one of Nomura-san's posts that the anime is bad. Like...?
I shouldn't have to explain how not cool that is. What do people get from bringing their discontent to the mangaka's attention? I'm astounded by the entitlement and lack of basic etiquette.
Things are better here, despite the disappointment in how S2 looks so far. It's fine to voice disappointment. It's less fine, in my opinion, to write everything off, trash the whole thing and only focus on the negatives. Particularly in spaces where people are trying to engage positively with the anime. Particularly when your choice of soapbox is in a creator's notifications.
I shitposted about this already, but I'll elaborate seriously for what it's worth. Here's the tl;dr:
Media doesn't have to be objectively good to be enjoyed.
Does the manga deserve a more considerate adaptation? Of course it does. This post is not an apology for what appears to be the result of a rushed production schedule.
Is the anime a complete write off, unwatchable, without merit, a failure that we should all condemn?
No.
If you disagree, please go watch the full first episode of Ex Arm and come back to this post.
That's a rough time, right? The animation has close to no redeeming factors. Yet it's funny for the mishaps alone. It has less than three stars on MAL and only a single work on AO3, but, y'know. The crappiness provokes something. It's been meme'd. Would I willingly watch more of it? No. But there's some enjoyment to be derived from Ex Arm, even if it's a car crash of an anime.
Blue Lock is not unwatchable. At worst, it's an average production. It's not going to win any awards for animation quality, but it's still got plenty to offer. Here's a quick list of merits:
The voice acting.
The music.
As manga fans, seeing everything in full colour.
The anime-original content and Additional Times.
The insane levels of fanservice, particularly for those who ship characters.
The dodgy PowerPoint slideshows and the CGI running scenes.
No, the last one isn't a joke. I complain about them myself. But they're also hilarious. When watching, slip-ups like that often get the biggest laughs from me. The panning shots of PNGs? The dumb stink clouds in season 1? Chigiri's CGI run in s2e2? The bit where lil Nanase was superimposed on top of the football? No, it's not great animation, and it's a shame that the studio didn't get more time to bring the manga to life. But laugh, and roll your eyes, and move on.
This perspective on media—acknowledging the flaws, while embracing the good things on offer—is balanced. There's no ban on being disappointed, and sharing thoughts to that effect. But, if you can't say anything positive about a show and want to vent, fine, share criticism—but to a smaller audience and not within a main fandom space (e.g. the main bllk tag). That's good etiquette.
But if nothing else, then please. Please please please don't dogpile a mangaka or writer or artist with Opinions on something they have a peripheral at best involvement in.
#in the spirit of the post i'm not tagging this as blue lock#tbf i don't think anyone in the tumblr community has been as bullishly frustrated as on twitter#we'll call it a#vent post#personal#mine

So anyway I'm back from my mom's funeral. That's her in the middle, me (very young!) on the left, and my dad's mom on the right. The version of this picture that made it into the slideshow was cropped better but I don't have that software. It's big enough to show you that she was beautiful.
I have never been to a funeral before where the officiating pastor teared up. Mom was a pastor herself before she retired, and remained active in the church after that.
I missed going to Christmas this past year because my husband and I were both sick. I talked to her on her birthday in January. She was a little weak and had some memory problems. Then two weeks ago my sister called to tell me I needed to come out. It was like taking a shovel to the face, she was so bad off. The next day she went into the hospital, which is where I was for that whole week I wasn't posting.
Mom raised us Methodist. When I got old enough to read the Bible for myself I became an agnostic. It's the only intellectually honest position I can take. If there's one thing life has shown me it's that it doesn't matter what you believe, only who you are. But Mom is the reason I know that those loudmouths who give Christians a bad name, who claim that their hateful readings are essential to the religion, are wrong.
If there is such a thing as God in the way I understand the term, they are necessarily infinite. Anything small enough to fit inside my finite brain cannot be the whole truth and I have yet to see a religion weird enough to match reality. But some people need a firm place to stand inside an infinity of truth. The God my mom served was Love top to bottom. It doesn't matter whether that God exists in any objective sense, because my mom did.
#personal#agnosticism#i know I'm taking a chance putting our pictures on the internet#that's why I'm the only person on here who isn't dead

Prelims, Vote 1 of 8
The top 4 finales will move on to be included in the main bracket
Propaganda is under the cut, may include spoilers
Agent Carter - 2.10 Hollywood Ending
Just as Peggysous became canon, just as Jack is about to start his redemption arc, they cancelled the show and left all of us on a massive cliffhanger for, let's see, almost 8 years at this point. We need ANSWERS.
Daybreak - 1.10 FWASH-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
It was written as a cliffhanger for a second season that would never come, but it just felt flat. The one objective that our leading lad (Josh) had been chasing (saving Sam) was rendered pointless, because the moment the big bad was defeated she effectively declared herself the new big bad and everyone who wasn't a major character went 'hmmm, okay!' And accepted it! They didn't even address this all that well, just ended with a shot of the MCs looking shocked.
Doctor Who - 12.10 The Timeless Children
this finale is shit!! absolute ass! nothing happens in it for it to justify having such a cool name. the master captures the doctor, shows her a slideshow that amounts to ‘‘you’re adopted!! :)" doctor breaks out of her matrix prison thing by overloading it with memories when the matrix is The Supercomputer and it’s used to hold all memories of all time lords ever? you know, the species whove been doing their thing for a billion years and live up to 10,000 years? the doctors new memories should either already be there or make nary a dent in it. the doctor’s like ‘‘why would they do that! why would they lie?’’ girl they have been lying to you since forever. they killed you once. theyve tried to kill you so many times. they turned you into a fucked up anti time monster that one time. one of the doctors past past selves even told her it doesnt really matter!! what was even the point
Loki - 1.06 For All Time. Always.
The series was going downhill past Episode 3 tbh, but it really just was a load of crap only interested in setting up the multiverse
Tales of Arcadia - Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans
This finale undoes everything the show worked for. In order to give itself stakes it kills off a few characters, but in a way that only indirectly impacts the MCs (such as Jim's Mom's fiancé getting killed). Then, at the end of the special, the main character uses time travel to go back to the start of S1E01 and changed history so he never becomes the trollhunter. Instead he makes his next friend the trollhunter instead. In terms of anticipation it was not at all what anyone was anticipating. (I had assumed he'd go to the start of the special and defeat the titans without any casualties). Having undone time only he remembers the previous timestream and he makes no effort to engage with it outside of accepting his changeling principal far sooner.
Ted Lasso - 3.12 So Long, Farewell
This trash ass finale undid three seasons of character development for every single person involved (except Nate!). A long-distance parent returned "home" despite having no attachments besides his child and leaving behind his entire found family, an abused and neglected woman was left behind by the person who taught her she didn't deserve abuse and neglect, and two characters who spent the whole show learning to cooperate and care for each other got into a fistfight over the girl they both dated.
Torchwood - 3.05 Day Five
No propaganda submitted
