Has anyone talked about the implications of Riku’s music in Symphony of Sorcery (DDD) being from the Nutcracker and how that relates to him and Sora?? Or perhaps I’m reading too much into it.

Today, the pastor was talking about the high priest, and the significance of all the rules about his garments for going into the holy of holies. One of the things detailed in Exodus is the ephod, the jeweled breastpiece which had the names of all twelve tribes engraved on it. So in a way, the high priest would have the names of all the people of Israel engraved on his shoulders and on his heart as he went before the Lord to atone for their sins.
And then he referenced Isaiah 49:16 - "Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me."
Jesus didn't just engrave the names of His people on stones on a piece of clothing. He engraved them on the very palms of his hands. He engraved them with the nails that went through his hands that held him to the cross that shed the blood for our atonement.
And while the high priest had a little golden piece affixed to his forehead that said "holy to the Lord," Jesus--our ultimate high priest--really is holy before the Lord.

you know, in the past I'd be absolutely ecstatic for the update (still am but take ur time as everyone's been saying🫶)
but I have to sing in church on Sunday and I might accidentally carve whatever is in the next chapter in my head instead of the lyrics I was supposed to memorize and it scares me😭
I did drums once, and I played the first verse instead of the chorus. the guitarist (my uncle) looked at me wide eyed. no one else noticed, thankfully. but he's the music leader in church—FORMER MUSIC TEACHER
this guy knows how to play everything
I was so embarrassed oml and he's strict too
anxiety sucks, wish me luck🫡
Well....that's going to be a new kind of worship song 🤭
As someone who used to be a church goer and a musician, the only people who will notice or care about mistakes are fellow musicians in the congregation 😂 most people won't even be able to tell.
Singing an omegaverse fanfiction though...that might confuse a lot of people.
Best of luck though, I'm sure you'll do great!!! 💚

Ohohoho I got a lot of bite from someone on a Muslim sisters group for saying we could in fact be friends with Christians and be in a church (so long as we aren't doing any worship and whatnot).
She said we aren't supposed to associate with Christians at all and even being in the church "mimics them" or whatever and I was leading this sister (who asked a question abt a group she's in meeting at a church) astray with incorrect info. Sister those are people of the book. Men can marry Christian and Jewish women, but yet I can't have a Christian friend? I think we're looking at very different things rn.
I was just shocked (idk why tho, I have seen that type of extreme talk on there from some members) she came at me like that 😩 it didn't bother or offend me though. I had a feeling she would bc I saw her comment saying that to the sister asking the question before I made my comment.

This may be United Church of Christ sacrilege or whatever but I really don't like The New Century Hymnal. I support inclusive language in church, certainly, and I understand why it's in there, but I think the NCH implementation of inclusive language is often really clunky and awkward to sing.
I also am super uncomfortable that the authors of the NCH felt it was okay to change the words to African-American spirituals. It feels gross, and at odds with this mostly-white denomination's effort to be more inclusive and diverse. Those are not our songs to change, that should be clear at this point.
Honestly, we can have meaningful and inclusive church musical experiences without appropriating the traditions and experiences of the black church. I've worked with UCC congregations who have done bluegrass, celtic music, plainsong chant, brass quartet, string quintet, folk guitar, Taize chant and more vibrant musical traditions that bring life and light to worship.
There are other inclusive hymnals available that do all this better. The Chalice Hymnal is a huge improvement, and the UMC hymnal supplement The Faith We Sing is a diverse and inclusive collection of hymns that fits into the rich musical tradition of the Methodist church. It's sad to me that for so many UCC churches The New Century Hymnal is the default because frankly, it ain't great.

I don't think any lyric has more succinctly expressed what I want out of life than
And I want smile lines
I wanna feel just fine
Like yeah, that's it. Got it in one, no notes.

Huun-Huur-Tu / Carmen Rizzo / Dhani Harrison - Boidus (Official Video) - the Clay Pipe Music aesthetic has reached Dark Horse Records
Dark Horse Records is proud to announce the release of Dreamers In The Field, the first-ever collaboration between Huun-Huur-Tu, Carmen Rizzo and Dhani Harrison. The album blends Huun-Huur-Tu’s trademark throat singing with traditional Tuvan instruments with the modern production and instrumentation of two-time Grammy nominated producer / musician Carmen Rizzo (Seal / Alanis Morissette / Coldplay) and Grammy Award winning musician Dhani Harrison. Recorded all over the world – from Los Angeles to Europe, and Russia to Harrison’s very own F.P.S.H.O.T. Studios in Henley-On-Thames – this beautiful album is mesmerizing from start to finish.

"Scripture is sufficient."
Hm. Yup. No one said it wasn't.
"That's why I don't watch X media based on the Bible."
So, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that you also don't sing any hymns in your church's worship service then, huh? Because, ya know, the Bible has an entire book of songs already, so you don't need any others.
But I'd bet money that's not the case at all. Because we use media other than the Bible to supplement our worship all the time. From visual aids in Sunday School classes down to the décor, they are things we add. And it doesn't make any of them inherently wrong.
Look. I don't care if you, personally, don't like something or not. That's not what this is about. What I have a problem with is you tacking on a "holier than thou" sentiment to a subjective opinion. "Scripture is sufficient." Yes. It is. "I don't like this piece of media because it adds bits" (that don't contradict Scripture). Personal Preference.
And you are allowed to have personal preferences. But you don't need to justify them or belittle other believers in order to say, "I'm not a fan."
So all I can say is this: if you're going to toss out visual media because "scripture is sufficient" then you'd better be prepared to throw out your hymnals, too.
