CHAMPIGNAC : A NEW SIMS 3 WORLD
Champignac is a fully living Frenchy suburbia World based on Champs-les-Sims and has nothing to do with a vacation place ... Well, nothing is not really the right word ;)
Back in 2016/2017, when we began to think how we could remade Champs-les-Sims, we didn't know really what kind of world we wanted to do. We named the project : Sims de Nimes. Then, because we were on other projects ( such as sims 4 k-mods ) we left Sims de Nimes somewhere in the pipes.
We made Oaksoak Hollow ( based on Mystic Falls ), we made Eureka Valley ( a world between tech and classic life ) and we left behind the Sims 4 because, well ... too long to explain. :D
So, it was time to get out of the box our old project of Sims de Nimes ... During this time, some talented creators re-made Champs-les-Sims with their own vision, more oldy or more city life like, or more like Sunset Valley ... All those versions are interesting, but we wanted something else. And so, is born Champignac !
If Champignac is a true living suburbia world, it is too a quite rural world, almost a village with :
37 Community Lots
36 Residential Lots
10 Medieval Towers all around the town :)
:)
In addition, it remains few Empty Lots, differently sized to suit whatever you wish ... So, let's say Champignac is a french-not-so-little-town where life is slowly flowing and dynamic at the same time, perfect for families and Sims looking for a different lifestyle :)
A typical downtown and outskirts, full of old buildings and southern architecture, a joyful mix between south-east and south-west housing, with a touch of something more northener ( but don't tell the citizens; it's a sure way to be frowned upon ) ... After all they worked hard to keep Champignac as it is!
People living in Champignac are quite glad of it. Sure, teenagers dream of foreign lands, but they are not too eager to leave.
Once, the townies of Champignac were grumpy because Champs-les-Sims was so more popular than their hometown ... After all, everybody went to Champs-les-Sims, stayed there, made nectar, drove a Kenspa, flirted with locals, or … anyway! Tourists had a full experience in Champs-Les-Sims and weren't interested in visiting any other city. Champignac, the official twin city, didn't benefit from any international exchanges, and was left anonymous, far from fame and glory. As unreachable as the Eiffel Tower seen from Champignac ... until ...
In February 29th of a certain year, a distant descendant of Marquis de Landgraab lost his way on the road to Champs-les-Sims and landed in Champignac. Instantly, he fell in love with the town.
He saw an always growing vegetation, a Monastery full of secrets, the familial beach ( yes, there is a beach in Champignac ), the forgotten obelisk, the shop keepers full of stories, the well preserved houses, the green fields and the paved streets, the true Café Catane and a remaining wild fauna running here and there ... He saw perfection !
For a time, the townies of Champignac experienced fame and glory. But how exhausting it was! Tourists not really caring about the legacy of the kiosk owner, the monks overwhelmed, the museum director who couldn't find enough teenagers to help ... Even the fishes were exhausted! Hard times indeed ... Happily, this descendant of Marquis de Landgraab met someone, somewhere, and moved out, far far away from Champignac. Celebrities said their last goodbyes and slowly, life, as it should be, was back :) The townies and City Council learned from that experience that they very much preferred not to be as famous as Champs-les-Sims ...
Life in Champignac was relatively calm again when suddenly, a global health crisis emerged and the Simvid-18 pandemic hit many many people ... Anxiety swept through the villages and the small towns, including Champignac of course ... With an aging population, residents became increasingly concerned about the well-being of their neighbors and the future of the city.
Shop owners and farmers who were already considering retirement were now faced with the daunting task of deciding whether to continue their businesses in such uncertain times. The entire world seemed to come to a halt, leaving everyone in Champignac wondering who would carry the torch and ensure the future.
Surprisingly, the youngsters that only came sporadically for holidays, moved back to Champignac. Fearful of living in a crowded city and eager to gather with family members, they came to the old town with friends. After all, there were spare bedrooms in most houses!
When the restrictions were lifted, many were reluctant to leave. Going back to a stressful life and fast-paced city wasn't enticing anymore. Most decided to turn their lives around. They took up the florist shop or asked for a job transfer ... So, life emerged again :) Champignac is now a thriving town where you have everything you wish for and nothing more.
Champignac is blessed with old churches turned into bars or wineries, old palazzi that are inspiring, and small boutiques as gathering places ...
Winters and autumns are short, while spring and summer are long. Come and live among thousands of old buildings, walk on streets Roman soldiers once trod upon, see treasures from foreign campaigns, and benefit from the perfect blend of country living and town living.
Remember ... With its unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, Champignac offers the Sims a captivating and enriching experience. From the stunning architecture to the delectable cuisine, every aspect of this town reflects the South of France’s intoxicating charm.
Are you ready to move in Champignac ?
blackgryffin \o/
IMPORTANT : We advice STRONGLY to begin with the half-populated SavaGame provided in addition to the World itself ...
DO NOT FORGET to download the CC of Champignac we provide on our website too ! for more information, see the 2 posts below ;)
Have fun !

Hey guys! Thank you so much for all the love you've given to my Sims versions of Merlin and the knights!
Since there's interest in my Merlin save I will be sharing some stories about what's been happening in that world. However, before I do I feel I need to explain the way I play this save since it's not your standard Sims 3 fashion. I typically play rotationally, spending a week with each family before moving on and using nraas story progression mod to keep everyone from aging while I'm not there. My nraas setup also keeps sims from changing their relationship status or progressing in their careers when I'm not playing them but they can meet new sims, make friends, declare enemies, and start up a bit of a flirtation on their own. I like coming back to a household and seeing what dynamics have formed when I leave them to their own devices, though I get the final say on what romantic interests they end up pursuing.
Now that's just my standard setup for most of my games. For my Merlin save I decided to add some interest by using Merlin characters for my own version of The Medieval Charter Challenge! For those unfamiliar The Medieval Charter Challenge is basically a sims 2 build-a-kingdom challenge where you start with a small settlement and slowly build your world up until you have a medieval city. There are a lot of rules including a tax system and class structures that I'm not going to go over but if you're interested you can check out the original rules here For those of you who are familiar with the challenge just know that I've tweaked some of the rules to fit better with the sims 3 and I don't always follow them strictly. I treat them more like guidelines than actual rules, especially since I'm using pre-established characters, some of which have magic which opens up excuses for all sorts of shenanigans. So if you see me doing something that doesn't follow the rules don't worry about it.
Mainly what you need to know is that I started with an empty world, 3 households who are not part of my rotation but are there to help populate the town (druid camp, knights barracks, and the Ladies' manor), 5 peasant families (du Lac, Smith, Hopper, Emrys, and Ealdor), 2 Yeomen families (Macken and De Grance), and the royal Pendragon family. As my save is currently I have 9 community lots, 3 peasant families (Hopper, Ealdor, Oliver), 1 yeoman family (Emrys), 1 Merchant family (du Lac), 1 Gentry family (Macken), 1 Noble family (De Grance), and the royal Pendragon family that have all dramatically changed as they intermarried, had kids, built up their businesses, and rose in the ranks.
My plan is to make a post on each of these families explaining their story. This will take time though as I plan to give you guys family portraits, before and after tours of their homes, any screenshots I happened to have taken while playing, as well as writing out the twists and turns of their tales. So please bear with me while I sort that out.
In the meantime here's some screenshots of some shippy poses I did with my sims that aren't part of the save

Top 5 CC Worlds
Rules: List your top 5 favourite Sims 3 worlds
Thanks to @ninjaofthepurplethings for tagging me here!
I have a TierMaker for EA’s EP/Store worlds here, where my Top 5 are Shang Simla, Dragon Valley, Monte Vista, Oasis Landing, and Midnight Hollow.
_______________________________________________
#5) JennaRawlings’ New Nevada at EquusSims
This emptied version of Lucky Palms is my favorite go-to when I want to build my own desert lots, especially for historical gameplay without all the modern bits. Unfortunately, the links disappeared when Equus shut down, so I reuploaded it to SFS over at ScifiTS3CCBlog.
#4) @crowkeeperthesimmer‘s Green Isle (beta)
Crow’s Mermaida world made a huge splash, but after I saw this incredible WIP post by @crowkeeperthesimmer, I just had to beg grovel ask for the beta version to play around in. 😂 It’s my goal to turn it into a Chinese/Japanese mythical wonderland.
#3) QBUILDERZ‘s (Bigger) Builder's Island at MTS
TBH this is my most used world in all of TS3. I use it CONSTANTLY.
It’s totally empty, but is big enough and versatile enough that I can make it whatever I want to be (I modded the default roads for futuristic and medieval gameplay). Most of the time I’m posting gameplay pics, it’s using Builder’s Island.
#2) @potato-ballad-sims‘ Boroughsburg
Boroughsburg is the most jaw-dropping creation ever. I am from Brooklyn; it’s STUNNING how much attention to detail went into getting the NYC vibe just right!
I had been using Saint Claire for all my city metropolis needs, but as soon as BB was released I dropped that world like a bad habit! XD I primarily use Boroughsburg for my Malec gameplay, as the scenery is pristine.
Not to mention, I just love how Boroughsburg makes EA look like the biggest CLOWNS on earth for whatever they thought they were doing with Bridgeport and San Myshuno. EMBARRASSING.
#1) noiranddarksims’ Tokyo Town (beta) / KieraPhoenix’s Tokyosou
Until I’m able to hop on a plane to Japan (and never come back), I'll live vicariously through all the sims I’ve put in this world. It’s my go-to Asian world if I’m not using Shang Simla,
Tokyosou by KieraPhoenix at the Exchange is like the alpha version of this world; it addresses all my biggest issues with Tokyo Town: that it has no Mount Fuji (which is a crime), and that aside from its feature zones it’s really empty.
Tokyo Town is great for builders who want the freedom to customize from the ground up, but Tokyosou is perfect for when you need a Japanese world ready to play in.

Thanks for reading!
I tag everyone!

GOOD MENTAL HEALTH GAMES
So here’s a list of games that help me get through bad days, whether it’s just being out of spoons, or being triggered, or just needing to not think for a hot second, it doesn’t matter. I’ll make sure to tell you why they might appeal, because not every game will work for every mood/situation.
STARDEW VALLEY [ PC / XBOX1 / PS4 / SWITCH / IOS / ANDROID ] — of course, this is the ultimate good mental health game. It’s very relaxing, it’s involved enough that you can focus on it without having to do anything intensive. You can play at your own pace, and you can even play with a friend, if you need that extra support.
GRAVEYARD KEEPER [ PC / XBOX1 / PS4 / SWITCH / IOS / ANDROID ] — this game is here for the same reason as stardew valley, but with an entirely different vibe. You play a man from our time who’s mysteriously transported to medieval times, who has to run a graveyard to find his way back. If Stardew Valley is too soft and cutesy for you, you’ll like Graveyard Keeper’s more morbid twist on it. Steeped in dark humour.
NO MAN’S SKY [ PC / XBOX1 / PS4 ] — surely everyone’s heard of this game from its disastrous launch back in 2016. Since then, Hello Games has worked tirelessly to bring existing and new players free updates and turn it into the game that they’d promised from the start. I’d say they’ve delivered. This game is vast, with plenty to do, plenty to see; you can get lost exploring planet after planet, learning more about the other civilisations that inhabit the galaxies (yes, plural), trading, hunting pirates, raiding freighters, owning freighters, base building, playing with friends... This game can initially be very overwhelming, but the key to this game is to just focus on one thing at a time.
ASTRONEER [ PC / XBOX1 / PS4 ] — if No Man’s Sky is too vast for you, then you might want to try your hand at Astroneer. It’s a lot more contained, much more stylised, and since there’s less content, it’s a lot harder to lose yourself in how much there is to actually do and thus get overwhelmed. Just a fun, lowkey planetary exploration game with cartoon-y graphics. Also with co-op options.
CITIES: SKYLINES [ PC / XBOX1 / PS4 / SWITCH ] — if you’re looking for something to just relax with but still get the sense you’re doing something productive, then you might want to try your hand at Cities: Skylines. The goal is to make a functional city, down to managing the flow of traffic and meeting the zoning demands of your citizens, et cetera. It’s easy to pour a few hours into this once you get the hang of it. Of course, you can also go the Sims route and just give yourself infinite money to design a city to your wishes.
JURASSIC WORLD EVOLUTION [ PC / XBOX1 / PS4 ] — so this is like the old Zoo Tycoon, if the animals were large long-extinct creatures that have a habit of breaking out of their habitats if sufficiently agitated. There’s two ways you can play the game; you can follow the story line, which slowly seeks to reclaim the islands lost in the Jurassic Park trilogy, right down to wrangling the now wild dinosaurs roaming the islands and turning the GenSec bases into functional parks. Or, once you get a 4 star rating on Isla Matanceros, you go sandbox mode on Isla Nublar, which provides you with ample space and neigh unlimited money to go wild on.
BORDERLANDS 2 [ PC / XBOX1 / PS4 / IOS / ANDROID ] — if you’re more into shoot and loot, you’ll find Borderlands 2 (and the Borderlands franchise in and of itself) quite satisfying. I recommend BL2 especially because while it’s dated, its graphics and gameplay still holds up, it’s on older gen consoles as well, and its price tag is a lot less costly than immediately going for Borderlands 3. The game’s funny, it doesn’t really require you to think a lot, and it’s just great fun shooting AI in the face and blowing things up. Even if you’re self-reportedly ‘bad at FPS’, there’s no expectations where Borderlands 2 is concerned. Just sorta aim and shoot, no doubt something will die and give you a shiny prize for it. Endorphines galore.
SPORE [ PC ] — disclaimer, Spore is great up to a certain point, and after that it becomes absolute garbage. Most people agree that the microbial and creature stages of Spore are absolutely fantastic and there’s some whacky fun to be had creating ridiculous-looking creatures and getting them to survive in the direction you’ve decided to take them. Generally, after the Creature Stage comes the Civilisation Stage, which is about the time I restart the game, which is a pity. The longest stage, which is the Space Stage, is arguably also the worst stage. But it’s cheap, and the first two stages are really just that iconic.
TWO POINT HOSPITAL [ PC / XBOX1 / PS4 / SWITCH ] — if you’re like me and you’ve been playing video games on PC for 25 years, surely you’ll remember a little game called Theme Hospital. The weirdest, most ridiculous hospital simulation game ever created. This is that, but from 2018, opposed to 1997. I’ve spent hours upon hours in Theme Hospital trying to save patients, make my layouts make sense, and keep people from littering everywhere, you heathens! In later levels, it can get pretty stressful, but particularly earlier levels, it’s just good ol’ fun.
THE SIMS 4 [ PC / XBOX1 / PS4 ] — speaking of the Sims, the franchise is obviously the most well-known ‘I know I’m in a depression hole because I played for the past 21 hours and I haven’t eaten yet and I probably won’t shower for the next 5 days’ game. Granted, I list the Sims 4, but any iteration of the Sims works for this purpose. Just motherlode and go, my friends. Cure the emptiness by creating a house you’ll never be able to afford. (Personally I use it to create my characters from toddler and making them meet and kiss their SOs, but you know.)
PLANET ZOO [ PC ] — I likened Jurassic World Evolution to Zoo Tycoon but with dinosaurs. Planet Zoo is Zoo Tycoon on steroids. That’s it. Planet Zoo is incredibly robust and in-depth, but the idea is simple: manage a zoo, help animals get off the endangered species list, and release them into the wild where you can while keeping visitors happy and keeping your park clean (why are visitors in sim games always such terrible raccoons)! Go creative mode and just create a zoo to your own wishes with no constraints and you’ll have a great mental health game.
PLANET COASTER [ PC / XBOX1 / PS4 ] — if Planet Zoo is Zoo Tycoon on steroids, then Planet Coaster is Rollercoaster Tycoon on steroids (which, in turn, was a more robust version of 1994′s Theme Park, from the same devs as Theme Hospital mentioned above). Like with Planet Zoo, you make a theme park, create rides that kill people and desperately try to hold back the tide of litter that’ll inevitably happen. But really, just go creative mode and make rollercoasters with so much G-force that it’ll kill everyone that rides them.
RAFT [ PC ] — a co-op game set in an Earth enveloped by oceans, you’re essentially a scout on a raft and that raft will become your home as you build onto it. You go from island to island to collect materials, seeds for food and trees, and discover the lore of the world. Your only enemy is hunger, thirst, and the ever-present shark that really only wants to hug you with its teeth. It’s a friend. Promise.
So do you have any games that you think should be on this list? Games that help you get through days where it’s just really hard to be a person? Feel free to add onto this post. Just make sure you let people know the name, the platforms its available on, the general gist of the game, and why it helps you through tough days.
Enjoy your good mental health days and good luck on your bad mental health days, everyone. 💛

Glennborough
Because I have the attention span of a gnat – well I do! – I’ve moved on to another world. I normally don’t play Medieval worlds because, well, sims have to WALK! Like really! And if God had intended for us to walk, He wouldn’t have invented the internal combustion engine. Plus, sims can’t use their brooms in those worlds – which totally sucks.
But people have been posting really pretty pictures on here, of the Medieval worlds they’ve been exploring. So of course, I figured why not!
Anyway, 1st I tried Praaven – the re-worked version – which is gorgeous. But BIG! And even though I’m a card-carrying member of the SCA, it was a bit daunting. Then I looked at a bunch of other ones, but they were just blecch. Until finally I ran across a lovely little world called Glennborough. And as the 3 Bears would say, “It was just right!”
But of course, I can never just play a world – even though this one comes with a “saved game.” No, I have to tweak it. Which is what I’m doing.
The 1st build I tackled was the new town library. But since I forgot to take pictures, I’ll show it to you next time. But for now, I’ll show you the build that used to be the library.
It is now called the Old Tome Books and Tearoom – a name I stole from another creator. Anyway, I didn’t do anything to the outside. Well, on the bookstore end I added that sign and those books, but that was it.
On the other end, I cleared out all the bookcases, and used that Old Mill store set to make a place for my “refined” sims to gather. Because not all sims like to hang out in pubs. (Well, they don’t!)
When I got done with that, I hopped over to this lovely build. The Secret Society – or something. Anyway, it starts out as an empty shell, with 3 rabbithole rugs. But since I’m not sure if I’m even going to have all the rabbitholes in this town, I tossed the ones that were there, out. On the left end, I placed the science one, and on the right, the hospital rug. Then, in the middle, I made a small clinic – mostly because I wanted to use those nifty objects danjaley made. (The other ones are currently in my new library)
As sims come into the clinic, they’re greeted with a small waiting area, and the moans and groans of their fellow sims.
Then, in the back, is where the doctor does his whole bloodletting thing.
Then, over by the town livery stable – aka: equestrian center – is a nifty little Horse Arena, where sims can brush up on their horsemanship skills before riding off to war. The only thing I did to this lot, was add those 2 horse chess pieces and those torches – plus some more torches by the existing doors inside the lot. It was pretty much perfect the way it was.
And then my Sophie insisted that she needed to go outside and chase a bunny. So that was it. (She didn’t catch the rabbit – not even close!)
#sims 3 Glennborough world#@galadrielhs Thank you for this lovely world!#and danjaley for those AWESOME objects! They look great!

I'm fairly indifferent to the new pack being a Star Wars pack. I'm not excited for it (I just don't think it really will fit in with Sims very well) but I'm not hating the idea of it either. I would be excited for it if it were a spin-off like Castaway Stories or Sims Medieval.
What I'm most disappointed in, is how much it shows just how tone-deaf EA is to the community. Almost nobody wants this pack, but does EA care? No. Because they know we'll begrudgingly buy it anyways. They'll get their money either way.
Same with how they've been giving us next to nothing in every pack. Same as how they split what we got in Sims 3 University into University Living (or whatever the heck it's called in S4 I can't even remember rn) & Tiny Living. Same as how they split Pets into C&D and My First Pet Stuff (and even with that getting it's own fucking pack, we still don't have anywhere near the selection of small pets that we had in Sims 3, and don't even get me started on horses. That'll have to come as yet another pack, if at all. So what was $40 in Sims 3 will now cost $50-90 depending if it comes as stuff/game/expansion, even then still with less content than was in Sims 3 Pets.) Want a supernatural pack? In Sims 3 you got vampires, witches, fairies, and werewolves for $40, now for the same cost in Sims 4 you only get vampires and witches (though a bit more in-depth, and I am actually happy with those packs, I don't think they offer enough extra to warrant doubling the cost.) Want better, more diverse skin tones? Nah, have name-able cowplants instead. Doesn't matter what the customers want, since EA knows we're so starved for content this time around that we'll pay them either way.
The graphics are a definite upgrade from Sims 3, and there are certain things that are better (I do love build mode in Sims 4 despite missing certain features, I do prefer the push-pull aspect of CAS vs sliders, and multitasking, though buggy at times, is pretty cool) but honestly we get so much less bang for our buck in it. It's pretty, but so fecking empty.
I used to love gameplay back in Sims 3. Now, I do actual gameplay a bit, but I mostly just build, play around in CAS, and make cc. Anytime I try to actually play the game, I enjoy it for a bit, but then get bored so fucking fast. Nevermind the severe lack of customization compared to previous generations of the Sims.
Sims 3: color wheel. Sims 2: being able to choose different swatches for different parts of an object, i.e. picking swatches for bedframes & sheets independently. Sims 4: one swatch per item...
Sims 2: Have multiple apartments on one lot with apartment doors. Sims 3: One apartment per lot, but still customisable, plus the option of high-rise apartments with shells. Sims 4: Apartments are only in the pre-built places in the one world in the pack, nowhere else (until Eco Living, but still with the same problems), no customization...
Such a downgrade.
I just hope with the godsend that is Paralives (and possibly People of the Newberry & Live the Life??) coming out, that EA actually has to put effort in again once Sims 5 is released. Please, please can the Sims team actually listen to the fanbase next time around? That would be great.

20 Years of The Sims - A Reflection
What better way to kick off this blog, than to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of The Sims. To date there have been 4 Base Games, 34 Expansions, 34 Stuff Packs and 8 Game Packs. The game has been on 14 different consoles, spawned several mobile versions and console spin offs, such as The Urbz.
In addition to the console spin offs, PC players were given four stand alone games, The Sims Stories series and The Sims Medieval, which had it’s own expansion in the form of Pirates and Nobles.
There must also be a mention of the console exclusive My Sims, a stand alone series of six games, with a very different look and game play, but retaining Maxis’ humour and bringing The Sims to a younger audience.
So we begin with the original game, The Sims. As a fan of Maxis (I’d played SimAnt, SimCity and SimIsle), I was very excited with the news of this groundbreaking game. It did not disappoint. It basically gave the teenage me a legitimate way to play with doll houses. I spent hours and hours building and decorating houses for my sims. At one point I bought a programme to import actual faces into the game using photographs and created my boyfriend (now husband) and myself. The expansions were a revelation to me. I had no idea that it was even possible to expand an existing game and make it better. I naturally bought every one.
Then came the announcement of The Sims 2 and fully 3D graphics. Oh how I loved that game! The game felt the same as the original, it had the same vibe, but was so much better. My sims could age up, kids would no longer be destined to childhood for life, as fun as that sounds. They also now had a personality in wants and fears, and the memories system. I could control my sims, but they had their own desires, which was great for keeping story telling dynamic and interesting. With The Sims 2 came the emergence of the online community, a gallery of builds and a forum; The Sims 2 BBS, for players to talk about their games, share screenshots and videos. I spent almost as much time on the BBS as I did the game.
The Sims 3 followed five years later, with the huge addition of open worlds. This excited me so much. My sims could own cars and travel anywhere they liked without my hanging about waiting for loading screens. My absolute favourite feature of this version came in CAS and Build/Buy: Create a Style! The ability to change the colour of items to any colour I wanted, not to mention the texture. It opened up so many design possibilities and is responsible for my love of building in the game. One feature that I didn’t really use, was the new online store, accessed through the game. I wasn’t a fan of the premise of buying individual items in game, and to be honest I’m still not a fan of in-app purchasing at all, but plenty of others seemed to like it and the community was still as I knew and loved.
Now The Sims 4. I was skeptical about it’s release. It had been well publicised that the open worlds and story progression would not feature, but I was not prepared for the emptiness that the game shipped with. It wasn’t just the lack of additional packs, we had been through the slow process of building the previous games up, starting from scratch each time. No, it was the absolute lack of game play. I was so disappointed and to be quite honest shocked when the first map I opened was completely grey scaled. I thought I had a glitch. I didn’t read a lot of the information before hand, a toddler and new baby put paid to that, so I was completely unprepared for the fact that toddlers didn’t feature in the game at all. No building my own family then! With the subsequent packs and patches the features missing were added and today I have grown to love it, so much so that I think that it’s my favourite incantation to date and the community has gone from strength to strength.
So, on this, the 20th Anniversary of my favourite game, I wan’t to say Thank you Maxis, for being such a huge part of the last 20 years of my life. Here’s to another 20!

End of year meme! Thank you for the tag, @declarations-of-drama
In 2017, I came back to Simblr :) Thank you for the amazing welcome back to Tumblr after my long hiatus. This is a very special community, full of unhinged imagination and sweet-hearted folks, and I am super grateful for you all. I know I’m a pretty inconsistent at tumblring, so one of many goals for 2018 is to be more consistent! Thanks for being so welcoming to me all the same :)
I feel like rambling on about these pictures and what a year 2017 was, so please find that under the cut if you are interested.
To everyone, a very Happy New Year! I’m wishing for joy and unexpected goodness in 2018 for all of you!
row 1: 2017 is the year my fiance and I committed to living in New Mexico. We aren’t there yet, but we bought land there, and we’ve made the long drive there several times this year. These mountains are the Spanish Peaks. When we see them, we know we are close! Recreating landscapes in the Sims is what brought me to the game. I’ve got to mention @hydrangeachainsaw for inspiring me with her talent for World Machine and instinct for landscapes. My goal for 2018: to stop being so fussy and just share some of the worlds I’ve made, even as empty worlds!
row 2: Sometimes it takes me literally years to get around to something on my to-do list. Fixing the store gondola has been on that list since I first got it in game! This got so many notes, I don’t quite know how. I still feel like it is an unfinished project because until it can be used to travel between lots, it isn’t all that exciting. Kudos to @mspoodle1 for using it to such beautiful effect here
row 3: This was a great gardening year for me. I focused a lot on flowers this year and we had so many bees! So wonderful. While I have not dug into my plant projects on the sims like I hoped to, I have a feeling it will happen more easily in 2018. Thanks to @feministoboe and wilky (where did wilky go?) for amazing discussions of plants, and also @simblu and @nornities for prompting me to thinking about alien plants. It is a big stretch for me to think about alien plants! I’m sorry I’m so slow with things. Goal for 2018: plants, plants, lots of plants
Also in row 3, my sim-self with with sim version of my dog Zu. We came so close to losing him this year due to a vet pushing vaccines on him. It was terrifying. I flew home to be with him, and with lots of love and inventive use of supplements, and great new vet, we got him through it. My relief and joy over this is intense. He is very, very dear and we still have many years ahead of us, together, as soon as we get a habitable structure up on our new property!
row 4: ooh boy this was maybe a little overly ambitious? I presented the Merchant’s House choose-your-own-adventure for Simblreen. And then promptly lost my outline to data corruption. I’ve got a huge folder full of story threads and new cc in various stages of completion. So, it is still on, it is just a matter of time! For the little glimpse of it I put up, I was pretty overwhelmed by the positive response, so, thank you, loves! More to come...
row 5: related to the Merchant’s House, this was the year for me to jump into Late Medieval and early Renaissance content. I really like collaborating and also making cc that others can modify. Thank you @tyrellsimsoficeandfire for helping me get these banners going, and along with @declarations-of-drama, using them to great effect! For 2018, I want to make a lot more diy-cc.
Other 2018 goals? Get my mods folder in order! Keep up with my simblr friends more! Build a house with my fiance! Get married! Make lots of ceramic art and sell it on etsy!
2018 is going to be awesome!
Thanks for the tag, @declarations-of-drama . Anyone who has read all this, please please consider yourself tagged, and give me a mention so I can see it! love you all!

Let's face it, there is a little bit more CC used in Champignac than in our other Sims 3 Worlds, because we really wanted to create a French ambiance for a French flavored world :)
Don't worry : except 2 or 3 things, we still use the same creators stuff aka mainly ATS ( Around the Sims 3 ) and Cyclone Sue ( from TSR ) for the build part. And of course, our own stuff which is not huge :D like our Rabbit Holes you may find here on Tumblr ...
Before any further, the fantastic towers you need to get in order to fully enjoy Champignac come from MTS ( Mod the Sims ) and have been converted from The Sims Medieval by Votenga ( MEDIEVAL TOWERS & BUILDINGS ) you may find there :)

our "Stadium" is the Football Club by Norn @ MTS and tumblr
the Junk Yard is based on : Old Art Deco gas station yard by flora2 @ MTS :)

the Vampire Lounge is fully based on Pastor John's Church by Diwtay @ MTS
the beautiful City Hall of Champignac is a simplified version of a community lot by Jeanpass ( here on tumblr )
the Museum of Champignac we named : Villa Medicis is a creation of Petalbot ( Palazzo Venezia )

Replies!
These go back a bit, because...yeah. *sheepish smile*
For @elfpuddle, @nimitwinklesims, @penig, @acquiresimoleons, @pixelated-world, @holleyberry, @timeparadoxsims, @pensblr, @an-elegant-simblr, @yarerakai, @celebkiriedhel, @mrningbrd, @princess-arystyl21, and @sim-boo. Whew! :)
elfpuddle replied to your photoset “By request, here is the “invisible” roads default I made to match my...”
In theory, then, a person could replace the road textures for each terrain with the default textures and have no roads anywhere? Does modding out signs and traffic happen only in lush hoods, or would that need to be repeated as well?
Modding out traffic is a global thing. If you put in that mod I linked to, you’ll have no neighborhood traffic in any of your neighborhoods, so long as the mod is in your downloads. You have to manually remove the intersection stop signs, though. (They’re just neighborhood deco, perfectly OK to remove as you would any other piece of deco.) But yes, you can have a road default for each type of terrain in the game and you can have multiple different ones that you can switch in and out, although you can only have one road default for each terrain type in your game at a time. So, if you use Maxis terrains, you’d just need four road defaults (one for each terrain type) with the road “pieces” painted to match the terrain.
I tried to make a road default that just consisted of all empty, transparent textures, the goal being to make it “universal,” with the roads being invisible on any terrain, but it didn’t look right. So, it is what it is, but, yes, you could take that default and replace the images with ones from any terrain you use in your game to make it match those terrains. Then you can switch your road defaults in and out as needed for different neighborhoods. That’s the nice thing about defaults. :)
elfpuddle replied to your post “Ugh, I’m so far behind on my dashboard, I don’t think I’ll ever catch...”
ICad is not a bad blogger; she needs to take care of herself first and foremost.
Yeah, I know. It just sucks being sort of chronically not-well. I want to do stuff, and the body doesn’t always cooperate. It’d almost be easier if it was always uncooperative, because then I’d get used to it and be resigned to it and learn to live with it, but it isn’t always like that. More often (at least for now) I have energy to spare and feel perfectly healthy, but sometimes I don’t, and I can’t figure out any rhyme or reason to it. If there was a pattern or a cycle to it, like a menstrual cycle sort of thing or if it was related to eating something or not eating something, then I could know what to expect and when. But there isn’t. It’s very frustrating.
Cherish your liver, people! Baby that sucker!
nimitwinklesims replied to your photo “Ahahahah! A non-ocean (as in no-waves) beach lot! This is something...”
Yay, very cool! As I just built the fisher's shack on a beach lot on a river, I'm just going to pretend the surf comes from the nearby sea... Even though they're on the mouth of the river... Yeah, well. xD But now I know about this trick for next time! \0/
It is a pretty neat thing. And I discovered it completely by accident, too! I just wanted an off-road beach lot, so I did the moving around. I figured that “Beach Lot” option in the Lot Adjuster would turn it into a beach lot, but I figured it’d generate surf, too. But it didn’t, and I was like, “Hey, cool.” But then a test Sim couldn’t swim, and I was like “Bummer!” But then I remembered the beach portals, which I’d used once before, many years ago, on a non-beach lot that edged neighborhood water, and I’m pretty sure that when I used them there, surf was generated. So, I figured the portals would generate surf on this lot, too. But they didn’t, and I was like, “YEEEESSSSSSSS!” *fist pump* Yay, serendipity! :)
penig replied to your photo “And there’s Amelia Shankel, granddaughter of Goopy GilsCarbo and Sandy...”
Maybe the cook used to know her parents and thinks she looks familiar?
Maybe! I mean, it’s the same cook in every dorm, I think, so she would have known Amelia’s parents. And she’ll probably know Amelia’s great-great-great-great-etc.-grandchildren, too. Immortal undead dorm cooks, yay! Maybe that’s how the manage to work 20 hours a day every day without, you know, dying. :)
acquiresimoleons replied to your photo “Aaron GilsCarbo, grandson of Goopy GilsCarbo and Sandy Bruty, all...”
He's fine!
Yeah, he’s definitely the neighborhood’s hottie! :) Too bad he’s gay, ‘cuz those genes really oughtta be passed around. But, perhaps he’ll get himself abducted by aliens at some point. Of course, then his genes will be eaten by the alien’s, but...

"the little mustache makes him look stereotypically French" -> me : (^・ω・^ ) I just laughed so much at this mustache...
I know! I saw that little mustache and my brain just went off and imagined him doing all those silly stereotypical French things, like running around exclaiming, “Zut alors!” every other second. Or saying things like, “But I am le tired!” It’s all the mustache’s fault!
penig replied to your post “Ugh, I’m so far behind on my dashboard, I don’t think I’ll ever catch...”
Why do you feel guilty about this? We don't want to be a chore!
It’s not guilt so much as regret. I enjoy seeing and commenting on people’s pics and posts. Makes me feel connected to the world, I guess, and when I can’t do it for whatever reason, I just feel regret. Sadness. That sort of thing.
holleyberry replied to your post “Ugh, I’m so far behind on my dashboard, I don’t think I’ll ever catch...”
Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. No worries about the Dash. Everyone has RL things that happen.
Yeah, I know. It’s just frustrating. I’ve just been really tired, not really sick, per se, but just really, really lethargic, sleeping most of the day if I don’t deliberately keep myself awake. Stupid metabolic issues. I’d sit down at the computer with grand plans to do stuff...and then I find myself nodding off and occasionally literally headdesking. *sigh* It’s been better today, though. And at least I didn’t miss your Dossanina update! :D Which I’ll be off to read when I’m done with this. :)

It's a conversion by Umi-Sims2 and it's been reuploaded by sims2packrat here: http://sims2packrat.tumblr.com/post/153963303471
Ahhhhh, that’s why I couldn’t find it then! Thank you! Maybe the “Simon’s hair anon” will see this. Or at least hopefully they’ll see your reply on the post. :)
penig replied to your photo “This is generally a house of slobs which is probably why it’s...”
She's keeping her immune system strong. I've found some sloppy kids do dishes out of an apparent desire to show off how grown up and in-charge they are.
Perhaps. Allison is definitely the bolder of the twins. Her brother’s kind of bookish and apparently happy to be up in his room, playing alone, even though he’s just as outgoing. But Allison’s in everyone’s faces all the time. Even the dogs’ faces.
pensblr replied to your photoset “This is a little thing I just made. Usually, I use a different phone...”
Yes! You have no idea how much I was just grumbling to myself about this very issue a couple of weeks ago. Thank you!
You’re welcome! I’ve been grumbling about it for years, off and on...but it only just then occurred to me that, hey, if I can make something be visible in hood view, surely I can make it invisible in hood view, too! Derp......
an-elegant-simblr replied to your photoset “This is a little thing I just made. Usually, I use a different phone...”
It’s very useful really, I hated that phone booth! I use defaults for the lot (before I just hid it under rocks or underground with an OMSP, but I have lots of witches in Strangetown and it was annoying when they arrived and got trapped), but the hood view wasn’t changed and it looked really ugly in the hood view.
Really? It still looks like that in hood view even if you use a default for the phone booth? That’s...annoying. :P But if that’s the case...Yeah, it’s more useful than I thought, then. It kind of sucks, I suppose, not to have any hood view at all rather than a proper one (especially if you use a default), but it’s better than that hideous yellow-and-blue thing screwing up your hood view in a medieval neighborhood or whatever.
yarerakai replied to your photo “Ahahahah! A non-ocean (as in no-waves) beach lot! This is something...”
Many thanks ! Sometimes it annoys me also when my sims live near a river and can't swim in it.
Or, they CAN swim in it, but that’s because it’s a beach lot with the waves and stuff. I didn’t want that. I wanted to be able to put trees right up to the edge and hanging over the water, like a real river. It looks kind of silly if you do that with ocean waves coming in. :p
celebkiriedhel replied to your photoset “Jupiter became an old, fugly dog. <3”
he is looking like he needs a good feed!
Yeah, I know! He always has. Poor thing has a skinny greyhound-type body and a bulky coonhound-type head. The bulk of his head makes his body look even skinnier. Ah, game. *shakes head*
mrningbrd replied to your post “Hey iCad! Are you still thinking about sharing a custom decorated...”
i would die for an icad neighborhood. i wish hoods werent so susceptible to corruption, im sure that would make it easier
*sigh* Yeah, it probably would. Outside of corruption issues, I wouldn’t worry so much about it, but I want to make it a sub-neighborhood template, so that it can be attached to other neighborhoods or be part of an uberhood or whatever. Can’t be that if it has stealth hoods attached to it, itself. :\ One of these days, I’m going to set up a new user account on this machine and test it out. Hopefully, it’ll work...
princess-arystal21 replied to your photoset “House #1 for the new pseudo-Amish. It’s pretty much done on the...”
It's so....brown.
*laugh* Yes. Yes it is. :) But, that tends to happen with log construction. Unless it’s fake log construction and you have drywall and stuff inside that you can paint. I wanted “real” log construction, though.
sim-boo replied to your photo “When your dog has enough floof to hide in… Jupiter got his licks in,...”
I want a floof dog
I love floof dogs. I have a big, floofy Mastiff/St. Bernard mix, and I love cuddling with her and burying my face in her floof...when she’s clean. Which isn’t all that often. Which is one of the main problems with floof dogs. :) Especially when they really, really don’t like baths and they weigh more than you do. Bathing them is, like, a three-person job and everyone ends up soaked to the skin, not just the dog.
acquiresimoleons replied to your post “Some replies.”
nono not your recolors, the mesh set.
Ohhhhhhh! Maybe? But I didn’t think that Ray posted on MTS. Maybe someone included the meshes with a recolor set, though. Either way, though, it’s a beautiful set. Worth having twice, maybe! Well, OK, not because that doesn’t do you any good, but you know what I mean. :)

Sims Q & A - The Sims 3
Saw @lyrea do this here, and had to throw my 2 cents in. :P
When did you start playing Sims?
When TS1 first came out. I’d play it at my friend’s house. I got TS2 on console before I finally got a PC I could play bigger games on. I didn’t get committed to the online community until TS3 came out though -- I needed to register it to get Riverview. And the rest is history. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Have you been playing consistently or do you have breaks in between?
With TS3 it’s pretty much a full time thing for me -- I’m always doing something sims related, even if my game isn’t actually running. It’s a lifestyle.
Do your family & friends know that you play The Sims?
Part of why I keep my blog PG-13 is because I always show my family what I’ve been doing in the sims. The day I got my copy we all sat down and made selfie sims together. My mom lurks my gameplay and reads my posts and comes back telling me stuff like -- I didn’t know about that thing you mentioned; what hides in the dark shall come out in the liiiiiight~~!! Or: At first I thought that person with the long hair was a woman, but “Nasir” is a guy’s name so I was confused what IS this?! XD LMFAO.
Do you spend more time in build or live mode? Why?
Build/Buy Mode, always. There’s always some lot I’m building, or redecorating, or something. It’s my favorite part of simming, honestly. It’s very rare that I’ll download/install a lot someone else made, unless I’m just feeling thoroughly lazy or uninspired.
Do you play with supernatural creatures (like Vampires, Werewolves etc.)?
I cannot live without Supernatural; what was I even doing before that EP was released? o_O Witches are hands down my fave. And I’m always using Nraas’ Hybrid mod, to give sims extra abilities. I DO believe in magic!
Do you have one specific family you play with all the time (like a legacy of some sort) or do you rotate between a couple of households?
I never stick to one type of gameplay for very long; I’m always bouncing from one thing to the next. One day I’m here, next day I’m there; then it’s time to make CC, so I have to start a whole new save to create characters from some video game I’m converting from, or something or other. So simming for me never gets old. I never get bored -- I’m just always so tired, or busy, or sidetracked. U_U
Do you like to create your own neighborhoods or do you play with the existing families? Tell us about your progress :)
Most of the time I play in empty worlds, so I don’t have to deal with EA’s stupid townies. Plus it decreases the lag by A LOT. Unless I need a random sim for storytelling/pics, they’re nuked on sight.
Do you create custom content? If so, what keeps you motivated? (If not, would you like to? What stops you from learning it? For players that don’t use mods, why do you stay away from CC?)
I hate making CC. I say this all the time. It’s stressful, annoying and no fun. I do it out of desperation -- there’d be something I really want, no one else’s made it yet, and oftentimes I’d make requests and get nothing but attitude. So I figured out how to make stuff myself. It’s usually not very high quality, but oh well I don’t earn any money; I share in case other people are looking for similar stuff. Next thing I need to learn is Poses -- there's so many I’ve been wanting. Once I do that watch me COME THROUGH on the pose sets, say whaaaat!?
If there was one piece of CC you wish the developers implemented, what would it be?
More things for sims to DO and USE and interact with. We usually go back to the doors on cabinets and cars opening and closing, sure, but beyond that I just wish sims could do more. TS4 jad me jealous over multitasking, for crissakes. Why do sims always stand up to talk on the phone, or use the laptop on the floor rather than on a sofa or in bed? Why can’t we use real makeup kits or vanity tables? Why can’t they do more multicultural things (tribal dances, ikebana/flower arranging, arts & crafts), or medieval-ish things (basket-making, knitting, sculpting at a potter’s wheel, fencing)? URGH.
What other expansion and/or accessories pack do you wish the developers would have come out with?
#5) Indian/Cambodian Jungle Book Realness. #4) Congo/Sahara/Mosi-oa-Tunya Safari Expedition. #3) Steampunk Victorian London. #2) Medieval Scandinavia. #1) Effing Neon City TOKYO/Shinjuku with some Shirakawa pastoral outskirts for good measure. Basically, just making more of those Travel/World Style Sets they had at the Store for like a minute then dropped to do lame stupid crap like Roaring Skies! >_<
I tag anyone and everyone!

Ronnie’s TS4 Medieval challenge
Your family has always been large, and life as the seventh heir in line is not easy. You’ve spent most of your life hidden in the shadows of your older, more skilled and charismatic siblings. As such, you were positively surprised when you heard that your distant uncle had died and, in his will, left you a considerable amount of land. There was only one catch - you have to move and manage it yourself, leaving your family and previous fortune behind! Happy to snatch up the opportunity and make something of your own you accepted the generous offer and sailed off to make your own name in a distant land...
Rules for the challenge are behind the cut, as I am still testing things out and they may be subject to changes and tweaks!
General Rules:
-You must play on a normal time span
- You must pay your bills “taxes”! (If you have Island Living you may use the off the grid lot trait)
-You may not age up your sims before their birthday
-No gameplay cheats (no influencing sims with cheats - build mode cheats such as moveobjects are fine)
- No gameplay-altering CC (custom traits, furniture and clothing is allowed as long as it’s not especially overpowered/cheap in comparison to the unmodified game’s content)
- You are not allowed to woohoo. You must always “try for baby” if the option is available! (if one of them is already pregnant, an elder or your household is full, this doesn’t apply. Full households and elders can woohoo as much as they want.)
- You are not allowed to purchase seeds, medicine or vampire tomes through the computer. You may purchase seeds through a planter pot only when specified.
- You are not allowed to answer your phone to join events or agree to party (though you may allow others to visit you). You must schedule all of your events in advance.
- You are not allowed to take part in San Myshuno events or travel to San Myshuno
- You may not use the club system unless so specified
- Children and Female Teens must have an adult accompanying them if they visit any non-home lots
- You may send children and teens off as “wards” to other families - you must pay a fee of 10 000 simoleons for their upkeep, however. You may return them to the family whenever, but do not get any of the money back and must repay it if you wish to send them again.
- You are allowed to adopt sims as usual, but they cannot be a Heir to the household.
In Buy/Build Mode:
- You are not allowed to use any items that could not feasibly be found in a fantasy/medieval context unless otherwise specified (toddler potty is allowed)
You can't place or use: - Any electronics (unless otherwise specified) - Amy modern-looking build or buy mode items - Any showers
Marriage:
- Every played sim must pay a dowry of 15 000 simoleons before marrying, unless they stay in the played lot. If they stay in the played lot, they must pay 10000 instead.
Sims can only marry once unless: - despite the player’s attempt their marriage isn’t consummated (sims decline to try for baby after marriage, one of them dies, etc) - they are left “unsatisified” during that time and have never tried for baby since (implying consummation was not succesful) - their partner is caught cheating - Their partner dies as an elder but they are still an adult/young adult (in this case their dowry is lowered to 10000/5000 depending on if they stay on the lot or not)
Determining the heir:
If you are playing this challenge just for fun, you can disregard this part. Otherwise, here is how you determine the heir to the household!
The Heir of the family is the oldest legitimate male child of the previous Heir (unless otherwise specified or no male heirs are available). If the Current Heir’s eldest child has been born out of wedlock, they are uneligible to be the heir - unless the parents marry while the child is still a baby and hasn’t been shown to anyone.
Example: The Family has three children: A(male), B(female) and C(male). A was born before their parents wed, making them an illegitimate heir. B is skipped because they are female and there is a male child further down the line. That makes C, the third child, the Heir to the household.
However, if C dies before becoming an adult, B becomes the heir. If C dies as an adult, already having children, their child will become the heir.
Adopted children are incapable to be Heirs to the household, as they are not a blood relation. But they can still live in the household and help around where needed.
---
Step 0 (optional) - Setting up your savegame
It is my recommendation that you remove all lots and premade sims from your save and download new medieval ones for the gallery. This isn’t needed but makes it a lot more fun in my opinion!
Recommendations for medieval CC (not affiliated with me in any way): http://ts4medievalfantasy.tumblr.com/ http://valhallansim.tumblr.com/ https://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/browse/category/sims4/search/medieval/
http://sssvitlans.tumblr.com/tagged/s4medieval
I recommend downloading much more sims than you would need and setting a large majority of them to not live in houses - this makes the game able use them in many roles it would otherwise create new random sims for. This makes it so that you’ll see significantly less “modern” sims walking around.
Step 1 - Survival
You survey the land you’ve been given and see that while it is blank, it is very fertile. This would make for good farming land. You’re unaccustomed to manual labor, but are determined to make this work.
You must move into the Von-Windenburg estate lot (if you don’t have Get Together, the largest lot you have available is also okay - Windenburg is just a great fit for a medieval look). The lot must be completely empty when you start.
You must purchase: - A bed - A toilet or a bush - A “washbasin” (sink) - A bath
You must attempt to use any remaining money you have to make this cottage more homey. In an ideal case your sims will not have any money left after it is finished.
In this stage, you can make money by farming, fishing and collecting.
To survive, you must farm and fish. You can only eat what you farm/catch!
Goals: - Fishing Level 5 - Gardening Level 5
Step 2 - Homestead
Time passes, and you learn the secrets of farming and how to stay alive on your own. You’ve managed to start your little farm, but something is missing from your life. It’s a lonely job, and you start wanting for company. If you haven’t already, it is time to get to know the locals!
Goals: - Make 5 friends
- Complete the Freelance Botanist Aspiration
- Build a Cellar ( to simulate a cold cellar, you are allowed to purchase a fridge. When you own a fridge, you can use it to cook from like normal)
- Acquire 10 000 simoleons
Step 3 - Beginning of the Legacy
Now that you start to be more comfortable with your new home and a feel for the new community you’ve become a part of, you start to yearn for a family of your own. Maybe it’s because of the time spent apart has made your memories of your own family feel better than they actually were, or maybe it’s just the loneliness talking. Either way, you’re ready to move on with your life. First you need to prepare, though...
You may now own a carpentry table and make money by carpentry.
Goals: - Upgrade your house to a proper farmstead to fit a family.
- Pay a dowry (you can use cheats to remove the money)
- Get Married
- Consummate the Marriage (try for baby)
Once your husband/wife has moved in, you may make a family club to keep track of them better.
Step 4 - Family Life
Family life as a farmer may or may not be what you always wanted, but overall you’ve become very happy with your lot in life. Step 5 - Fort Legacy
As your family and your farm grows, so do also the dangers surrounding you. It’s time to secure your home with a fort, and hire some help for the fields so that you have more time for the family.
Goals:
- Build a tower fort for your sims to live in. You may keep their previous home on the lot and use it for your workers instead.
- Create housing for your workers (if you decide to bulldoze the farm)

Goals: - Have a family member complete the Vampire Family Aspiration
- Have a family member complete the Master Vampire Aspiration

Back to the orcs
Then I went back to my outpost. (I bounce around a lot!)
This is another house that I radically changed. The stable side now has a hayloft, while the living side is a lot smaller. Originally it was out to where that large, round hay bale is now sitting. But I wanted something a bit more compact (Read that: easier to decorate because I’m lazy!) So I whopped off whole sections of it, squished it together, re-roofed it and viola! An itsy-bitsy cabin even I can manage to decorate! Go,me!
So, the landscaping on the left is by galadrielh, while what little there is on the right is by me. Okay, I’m not a good landscaper! Actually, I plan on doing more with it, once I decide who’s going to live here. And what their careers will be.
But this is the inside. There will be at least 4 sims living here – maybe more, since there is room in the attic. But basically it’s decorated like all the houses in this area. They have the essentials and that’s it. They do get those fur rugs, because they are hunters and game has hides and that’s what Medieval people did – they used everything; whether for clothing, bedding, or rugs. And lots of other stuff too. No wasting stuff like we do today.
And this is where the Crown has its representative billeted. (That fuzzy tower behind it, is the church). This is another house that I altered to provide stabling for the knight’s horse. Plus I made it a tad smaller, since only one sim – well 3 if you count his horse and dog – will be living here. There used to be a small addition out front, where that birch tree is now. Plus it extended back to the edge of the lot. So again, with the squishing. Anyway, I haven’t touched the inside yet. But there is attic space, so I’ll probably stick his bed up there – easier to defend against the orcs if they take a notion to attack.
There may be one more house in this area – I’m not sure. I was busy arguing with my Devil Dog, who insisted that she needed to sit on my lap and help me. I may just leave it empty. Or, I may turn it into a “ruin” and make it into a small park where my orc kids can play. Which means I have to create some more kids. Yecch! Oh well.
BTW, the church is this area now houses my Vault of Antiquity rug. It was originally zoned as a graveyard, as were the other 2 churches in this world. The Church of the Watcher is now my sole graveyard. The other abandoned one – down in the main village – has been taken over by my criminal element. Which left this one. So, in this town history, the story goes, “That while this place of worship now lies abandoned, there are still hidden secrets that can be learned here – if one is brave enough.” Or some such nonsense. Anyway, other than the rug, it’s just a shell.

Quavo and a deal gone wrong
“Greetings, gentles! I, Quavo, Master Slaver, have a deal for you! Yes, I do! Straight from a kingdom faaaarrr across the seas, comes HRH, the one, the only….Princess Iris the Incorrigible! And for a limited time only, you – yes, YOU!!!! – can purchase her at half price! Mere pennies on the simoleon! That’s right! A princess! At HALF PRICE!!! (Shipping and handling fees included.) For further details, contact my trusty servant, Guiscard the Fearful. And if you’re on the lookout for a rare rose from Al Simhara, I’d be willing to part with my wife, whatshername, for a mere pittance. Really! Please take her!”
So, I got tired of doing the whole poor thing, and decided to do something a little different. A long, long time ago, I helped my friend @yourPicasso25 make families to populate a Medieval world we were making to give to the members of the Sims Daily for Christmas. I had completely forgotten about them, but was uploading some files for someone else over on Mediafire, when I came across 2 families that I hadn’t deleted. So, here is the slaver family.
Anyway, they live in town, among the wealthier sims. Not in the noble district, but not among the poor either. Kind of on the edge between the two, because his “kind” is not really welcomed in either sector.
So, this is their house. (I did absolutely nothing to the exterior). Originally, this family came with 2 horses, and I was going to use part of that bottom level as stables. But these sims have no desire to going riding about the countryside, where other sims might attack them. So I nixed the horses.
The ground floor in this house is empty – except for one of those “skip level” thingies. I also thought about putting some “cells” down there and some loot that he’s smuggled into port, but then decided against it. Maybe if I was doing some storytelling with them, but no. This family is just for some “color,” as I don’t intend to play them. I just like having diverse and interesting sims in my worlds.
Anyway, here is the main floor. As you can see, Quavo likes to flaunt his wealth. He can’t play those instruments and has absolutely no desire to play chess, but someone told him they show he’s a sophisticated man of learning, so there they are.
And here is the area where they all sleep – with the larger room being Quavo’s and the little missus’s. The two front rooms belong to his servant and the cookie-muncher. The people from the Sims Daily might remember her as the devil child who attended Theo’s eldest sister’s wedding. She is a totally horrid little girl – which is why her parents have made no effort at all to get her back.
And here is Quavo himself. He considers himself to be a real catch.
And his servant, Guiscard (a sim made by Sandy over on Around the Sims 3) and Princess Iris the Incorrigible. She smiles, because she’s planning on how to blow up the house. He frowns, because he’s stuck taking care of her.
And Quavo’s wife. (I can’t remember her name) He originally bought her from his cousin – sight unseen. She was billed as “A rare and delicate rose from the Desert Sands of Al Simhara! Gaze in rapture as she steals your heart with her dance of the seven veils! A dance as lovely as she!” (She has the clumsy trait). Anyway, she now runs the show.
I also gave them a Siamese cat with every bad trait I could – just because. Another of Quavo’s deals gone wrong.
