Yuriclaude headcanons: mom edition

This will be a thing now.

Tiana comes to Fódlan to check on her son. When she happens upon camp past nightfall, Yuri spots her and they battle it out. They come to a draw, weapons to each other’s throats, just as Claude steps out of the shadows, applauding them for the show. Yuri thought he recognized those green eyes from somewhere.

Everyone is surprised oOooooooo

Tiana thinks Yuri shady (because not a noble but somehow an Alliance commander, funny purple man), but he fights good so it’s fine. She spars with Yuri and even sticks around to watch Yuri and Claude train together. Though convinced that Yuri isn’t planning to poison anyone, she doesn’t want Claude to get soft. “No hanky panky!”, she warns Claude.

Tiana fights with an axe in each hand and is a real menace on the battlefield (and as a bonus shakes up the Alliance roundtable).

The moms meet by chance when Yuri’s mom, feeling well enough to travel, delivers “some” food. Claude and Raphael help her unload the crap tons of packages. She tells Tiana what a nice young man Claude is.

Yuri’s mom stays with the Alliance as a cook. (Reason being…? Idk Faerghus too cold -> health reasons)

Claude has… complicated feelings towards his mom, who was never really affectionate. He works through it by letting Yuri’s mom baby him a little.

Later, when she is alone, Tiana remarks, “I see now, where Yuri gets his charms from…” 🌝

Tea time!

Tiana gets along surprisingly well with Yuri’s mom.

Neither mom calls her son’s real name in public, of course, so to the women, Claude remains “Claude” and Yuri is “my star”

In the past, people in the Animal Crossing community would make fun of Tom Nook as a sleazy landlord. Since then, he's really rehabilitated his image as this 'heart of gold' businessman (he's the one who puts bells and furniture in trees for you to find! he adopted orphans! he donates to charity!), but New Horizons genuinely paints the most devious version of him.

He's successfully privatized settler colonialism: you pay HIM to move to a "deserted island" (which apparently the oceans in the AC world are just full of) and start a colony that he is directly invested in. At best he's running a weird vacation package scam (you arrive on the island with no money and in debt for "using his services"). At worst, he's using you to set up company towns. For god's sake, he literally has his own fake currency that he forces you to use to pay off your debt. But don't worry, he's repackaged it in a way that definitely doesn't sound like an MLM scam: the Nook Mileage Program!

You're no longer just his tenant or his temporary part-timer, you're his business lackey. The entire tutorial section of the game has you spending actual weeks running around completing tasks and doing hard labor to set up his colony. You're even tasked with preparing his properties and finding buyers for them. No, you aren't a tenant anymore. You work for the landlord. You are directly responsible for finding tenants for him. And he doesn't even fucking pay you. Not for setting up town hall and museum, or his nephew's shop –– which is the ONLY store on the entire island that sells necessities –– or bringing KK Slider to town, or helping populate his town. Not a single cent. No, actually, you have to pay HIM to BUY infrastructure like bridges and stairs and park benches. And all the while, he's telling you're the "resident representative"; you get to call the shots! That the reward is the community's progress. That what you're doing is in everyone's best interest (but most importantly, his).

Since NH's release, people have done a lot of legwork to say that Tom Nook isn't a capitalist while the game shows him at his very worst. He owns the only general store in town. You're forced to use a phone that he modified and branded as his own. Buy Nook-branded furniture and merchandise at the self-serve kiosk in the town hall, a governmental building! There's no conflict of interest here!

But hey, if you're tired of being the landlord/business mogul's goon, you can also find work as a deluxe resort home designer for a company that also pays you in their special company currency that can only be used to buy their products instead of a real salary! Because that's what the Animal Crossing franchise needs! More vacation homes!!!

Do you know how much media has been produced in the last decade? This really was the era of overstimulation where you never really could watch all the stuff there was.

So when people complain that TV will be bad now, so? Go back and watch all the stuff that's just rotting on streaming platforms it's not like it's 2007 and linear TV is your only option.

But most importantly just support the strike so that the people who make all the stuff you like can keep making it :)

not rly, the reason I left tumblr back in 2014 is because I had begun to find it really difficult to cope with social media as a general concept,

like when you think about it it is pretty unsettling that hundreds or even thousands of people are looking at your thoughts and feelings and then deliberating each time on whether not they approve of them, and if they do it’s fed back to you through your notifications. it’s kinda a sweet trap for people with a predilection for social anxiety since it offers a way to communicate without face-to-face interaction but as you become more engrossed in it it begins to pick at your over-awareness like a scab

The problem with a lot of traffic life interpretations in my opinion is they don't understand character foils or don't employ them in their writing. Grian-Martyn and Scar-Ren are genuinely pretty good character foils for a series that is not really scripted or planned out like a book is. I could go on and on about how they parallel each other and the similarities between them. Even the smaller details between the four usually match up

I feel like if Chujin was still alive during the events of Undertale Yellow, his and Clover's relationship would be incredibly rocky. Pacifist!Clover could bring him around to tolerating them (after all, they have that sort of effect on everyone), but it would be more in a "this human is the only 'good' human" manner than a "maybe I should reevaluate my opinions on humans overall because you can't judge an entire group based off (very biased) stories and one bad experience." Even then, that opinion would be subject to change should Clover ever get frustrated or behave "too aggressively" or act in any manner that isn't perfectly docile. If Clover ends up attacking a monster then it's "humans are just as horrible as they were in the war stories, I should've known better" regardless of the circumstances that could've pushed Clover to fight. Suffocating expectations and endless demands for patience when he wouldn't ask the same of a fellow monster.

And heaven forbid he ever meet Clover on a No Mercy Run...
