His Scent
Hunter x female Jedi
I got a request for a Jedi solo saving Tech on a mission, growing closer, and making Hunter jealous. I tweaked it a little bit, but lemme just saw NSFW my girlies. I am not a Hunter girlie but I did have to fan my face for this one. You are strong and confident in this one.
2.0k words. NSFW
Tumblr media
Tech leaned heavily against you, his arm draped over your shoulders as you helped him hobble along. You had been sent to Kashyyyk with Clone Force 99 to assist in dispatching a group of Trandoshan marauders. The operation concluded smoothly—until a separate incident sidelined Tech.
While attempting to disable enemy sensors solo, Tech missed several check-ins. Eventually, his voice crackled through the comm-link, "It appears I've inadvertently descended into a booby trap on the forest floor," he reported. "Apart from a definite ankle sprain, I'm intact. However, extricating myself from this pit will prove challenging given the state of my ankle. Assistance would be appreciated."
“Just hang tight, we’ll come rescue you.” Hunter’s relief was palpable through the comm. He’d barely released the comm device when you cut in.
“I’ll go.”
Hunter hesitated, shaking his head. “No, no. Crosshair and I-”
You raised a hand to cut him off. “Serg, I can force-jump down there and retrieve him faster than you could even reach the edge.” His silence was telling; he was clearly not convinced. Laughing heartily at his stern demeanor, you playfully slapped his shoulder as you breezed past. “Relax, Sergeant. I’ve got this.”
Hunter wasn’t fast enough to stop before you leapt into the dense canopy with a force-jump, diving into action despite his reservations.
But, you were right. Locating Tech and pulling him from the pit proved no challenge for your Jedi abilities. As the two of you made your way back through the Kashyyyk forest, you planned your next move aloud.
“Once we reach that clearing, I can jump us back to camp.”
Tech, wincing slightly with each step, was quick to propose an alternative. “Perhaps if you just comm Wrecker, he could—”
You interrupted Tech by yanking up on him, bettering your grip on him. “You boys need to have a little more faith.” Lurching him over one more felled tree you managed a teasing tone, “Unless it’s the heights bothering you.” The joy you got from teasing Tech would never fade.
Once at the clearing, you paused to give Tech a chance to rest his foot. He sighed heavily, the frustration evident even through his helmet. "I'm merely suggesting that Wrecker's strength could hasten our journey," he remarked, looking for a pragmatic solution.
Laughing lightly, you knelt to inspect his ankle. It was clearly swollen, but thankfully it seemed manageable with some rest. As you steadied his knee, you teased, "And miss the opportunity to hold you close?" You playfully blew a raspberry, adding, "Not likely."
Tech tilted his head, his shoulders drooping slightly under the weight of his exasperation. "You do realize, your playful antics might be entertaining, but they're also prolonging our delay."
“So you do find me entertaining.” When Tech’s only response was a deadpan expression you scoffed and stood.
Placing your hands on your hips and leaning in mock-seriousness you said, “Lighten up, Tech. We'll be back before you know it." Wit a sly grin, you added, "Besides, I think someone's little detour into a booby trap is the real time thief here."
Tech rolled his eyes, conceding with a shrug. “Fine, seeing how my mishap did indeed slow down operations.” He extended a hand towards you. “We will do it your way.”
Unable to hold back a satisfied smile you crouched down, shrugged his arm over your shoulder and put an arm under his legs to position him in your arms. Hauling him up in one fell swoop, you craned your head back to gauge his reaction.
Completely caught off guard, Tech’s hand flew up around your neck. His startled expression made you pause. It was cuter than you’d imagined. Tech quickly adjusted his eyes to a more composed, no-nonsense look.
"Okay, okay," you chuckled, slightly embarrassed but focusing on the task at hand. Tightening your hold on him, you looked up through the forest canopy. "Hold on tight." With those words, you launched upwards, navigating through the trees with ease.
Back at camp, Hunter stood impatiently at the Marauder door. He still wasn’t sure letting you go off on your own was the right thing to do.
Echo noticed Hunter’s fixation from his position inside the ship. "Hunter," he called out, rotating the pilot's chair to face him, "she can handle this."
Hunter didn’t respond immediately, his gaze locked on the path you had taken. A small smile played at the corners of his mouth, a silent admission of his confidence in you. However, his eyes betrayed a hint of unease. "I know she can," he murmured, more to himself than to Echo. "But I’d feel better if she didn't have to prove it so often."
He’d feel better if you never left his sight.
Landing gracefully back at the camp, Tech still in your arms. As you approached with Tech, the rest of the squad gathered, visibly relieved to see both of you safe.
Wrecker let out a boisterous laugh, clapping Hunter on the back. "Looks like the Jedi's got everything under control, huh?"
Hunter couldn’t help but smile genuinely this time, his eyes meeting yours as you helped Tech to a more comfortable spot. "Good work," he said, his voice carrying a mix of admiration. "But next time, maybe let us help a bit more."
Tech, now safely on solid ground, nodded in agreement. "Yes, perhaps with a more... collaborative approach."
Wrecker took Tech off your hands, following Echo into the Marauder to treat Tech.
“Alright,” Hunter announced, turning to you and Crosshair. “The three of us will do one last perimeter check. As long as everything is clear for the regs, we can head out.” Without a word, Crosshair stalked off to begin his section of the sweep.
Hunter then turned to you. “You and I will take this sector.” His tone left no room for argument as he started walking.
“As long as I’m following you,” you quipped, your gaze briefly flicking to his backside, “I’m not complaining.” Your flirtation drew a weary sigh from Hunter.
You had only ventured a few feet into the forest, beyond the sight of the ship, when Hunter abruptly turned to face you.
Hunter grabbed your arms, spinning you around to face him as he pressed you against the massive tree root. He lifted his hands, removed his helmet, and moved in to cage between his arms.
For a moment, neither of you spoke; the forest around you seemed to hold its breath.
"You're fearless," he murmured, his voice low. "I respect that. But out there, when you jumped with Tech... I realized something." He moved a knee in time with his hands as he pushed you higher onto the tree root. Using his knees, he knocked your legs apart and pressed himself in between them.
“And what’s that?” A tremor ran through your hands, the predatory look in Hunter’s eyes locked you in place. Your legs fanned out farther for him, pulling a groan from him as he pressed into you.
"I didn't like it," Hunter confessed, his eyes dipping to your lips. "I didn't like the smell of him on you." His words hung in the air, charged and raw. His admission was not just about the mission—it was about him, about you, about the undefined something simmering between you two.
A soft laugh escaped you, born of nerves and the surreal nature of the confession. “The smell of him?”
Hunter nodded, bowing his head so that the tip of his nose brushed over the curve of your ear. A shiver ran up your spine, bending your neck towards him. Hunter’s hand slid over your shoulder, up the back of your neck, and to the side of your head. With a firm grip, he pulled your head to the side and exposed your neck.
Hunter grazed his lips where his nose had been and down the length of your neck. He settled into the crook of your neck and muttered against your skin. “I can still smell him on you.”
You whined at the hum of his voice across your skin. Until then, your hands were frozen at your sides, now they freely roamed his waist. The way Hunter moved his body was a sin.
“You hate it that much?” You breathed out.
“Yes,” He ground out. "You drive me crazy, you know that?"
You moved your head just enough that your lips were only a breath from his. Heat pooled between your legs and you smiled. “So do something about it.”
Hunter’s nose flared and kissed you like he was going to devour you. The angle you were sitting at gave him ample room to pull at your clothes. The loose nature of your outfit made it easy for Hunter to expose the skin of your legs and pull aside your panties.
At the same time you ripped away the gear at his waist. Between the two of you, it felt like you wouldn’t be satisfied until you were completely bare for each other.
Hunter’s hands wedged under your ass and angled your hips as you pulled him from his pants. At your touch, Hunter sucked your bottom lip into his mouth, dragging his teeth over the sensitive flesh. You gasped into his mouth.
“Tell me you want this.” He almost begged.
“I want this,” You quickly panted.
He thrust his hips into your touch, groaning as he said, “Tell me you want me.”
Giving him a firm stroke, you lined his head up with your entrance. That gentle contact sent a drip of your slick down his cock.
“I want you, Hunter.” You pulled him in with your legs and sunk his cock into you. He finished the motion and buried himself into you.
His girth shocked you, but didn’t stop you from moving against his thrusts. The painful stretch he caused flooded your groin with heat. Each thrust knocked you incoherent. His thrusts were shallow and rapid, barely pulling out before ramming back into you.
With another person, he may have worried about breaking them. You weren’t like others though. Your strength and fierceness were what intoxicated him. So Hunter trusted you could take it; that you could take him.
And you were taking him so well.
You squeezed your hand between your bodies, feeling for the sensitive bud between your legs. When you arched into him, Hunter knew you found it. Your eyes rolled while your fingers made small, precise circles. Every second, you were tightening around him and pushing him closer to his limit.
Hunter dipped his lips to the soft spot behind your ear, breath warm against your skin, and gave the spot a long, slow lick. With a smile evident in his voice, he said. “Good girl.”
His voice made your entire body go taught, a sudden burst of heat rushing from your core. You moaned out his name like it could save you and held on to him while your orgasm wrecked you.
The sudden vice grip you had on him made Hunter hiss and he buried himself deep inside of you, pressing his face into your neck. Release hit him hard and he groaned into your skin. For a moment, he thought he’d never stop filling you.
Everytime he thought he was coming down you convulsed around him and another wave of pleasure flooded him. It wasn’t until your body started relaxing around him that Hunter was able to gain a semblance of clarity.
You both were breathless. Panting, spent, and drunk on each other. It took a good ten seconds of catching your breath before you reached up, patted the back of his head, and said with a smile, “How do I smell now?”
Hunter chuckled into your shoulder. He inhaled deeply before he pushed himself up. On exhale he said, “Good.”
Your head fell back and you laughed, “Because I smell like you?”
He gripped your chin and tilted your head back up. With a cocky little smirk he gave a nod. “Exactly.”
The moment lingered, but duty eventually called, and you both straightened, adjusting yourselves and your gear.
Hunter replaced his helmet, saying "We should finish that perimeter check," His voice was almost normal but still carrying a trace of the heat from moments before.
You nodded, a small, knowing smile playing on your lips. "Lead the way, Sergeant."

My original theory for S2 and the Stalker has completely been obliterated, and honestly from all the new big names attached to it, and the smaller names, it’s a lot to fit in only 8 episodes.
The cast is very crowded for an 8-episode season. With limited time and “space” in the story, I feel like with Wednesday the only common thread and obviously will be in every episode, and Ortega herself saying each episode will feel like its own movie, I feel like most of the actors will actually only get one episode.
There’s also some indication that some of the students have already wrapped up their filming (specifically Joy Sunday via IG posts who is a top billed star), which is very short to me if true and insinuates to me that only one or two episode will be at the school. Which also supports the other rumours that the Addams estate will be heavily featured.
I would like it if some of the students got a significant B plot to explore their characters more throughout the season, but I don’t have confidence in the writers to explore anyone but Wednesday. So far, every other character is just a prop for her.
My new theory is that the season will start at the Addams estate. Maybe a funeral to intro many new Addamses. Then each subsequent episode will have her deal with different Addamses and the family lore.
She’s also supposed to be on a break, so starting at the Addams estate makes sense to me.
In no particular order, but what I think will be included in episodes:
1: We see Wednesday’s home life and more interaction and possible backstory to her friction with Morticia. This will include Morticia, Gomez, Pugsly, and Grandmama. I don’t think Pubert exists in this universe.
2: Uncle Fester centered episode which will also serve as a backdoor pilot to his spinoff.
3-6: She visits with various Addamses, really expanding the Wednesday universe, each with their own issues she has to figure out. So, each episode is more or less a procedural, horror mystery/ “Outcast of the week” This will include Noah Taylor, Billie Piper, Christopher Lloyd, Francis O’Connor, Haley Joel Osmet, Heather Matarazzo, Joonas Suotamo.
Besides just having something to do over break, perhaps Wednesday visits family to test the stalker’s reach, who is still sending her proof of being stalked. When back at Nevermore, she finally figures out who the stalker is because she has eliminated who it couldn’t be based on how they’re able to stalk her from family member to family member and then back to Nevermore.
7-8: Break is over and they’re back at Nevermore. Enid will heavily be featured to talk about her status as a transformed wolf within her pack. Maybe talk about some issues with Ajax because he’s not a werewolf and now she has more options within the Werewolf community. We’ll also see what happened to Tyler and Sheriff Galpin. And it’ll introduce the new faculty at Nevermore.
Maybe Tyler confronts his dad about what he knew about his wife being a Hyde, if anything, and what it means to have a half-outcast child. Galpin will talk his son into accepting his responsibility in what happened, and Tyler voluntarily turns himself in and Thandiwe Newton is his new therapist, perhaps at the same insane asylum his mother.
Wednesday visits him before he’s on a long absence to get his powers and mental health in order. They make peace.
New students Evie Templeton and Owen Painter will feature. I wonder if Owen will be Enid’s triangle love interest, as he has dark, pale features like Ajax. Perhaps she has a type. lol
Xavier, Divina, Kent, and Yoko’s absence will be explained that their families feel that Nevermore has gone downhill and they are pulled from the school to attend an alternative Outcast school.
Steve Buscemi as the new Headmaster will do something to spring into the 3rd season and we’re left with a question about something. lol

Hi I’m looking for a fic where stiles is raised by the argents and the Hales and the sheriff kidnap him. And they mistreat him until the sheriff finds out the boy they got is actually stiles, who he thought was dead, and has to work hard to gain his trust back. Thanks!
Hey @giveemhales! @mishiefennec says it could be this one!

It's Just Revenge by Writing_Queeen for Imogenlily
(23/? I 94,268 I Explicit I Sterek)
Gerard and Kate took everything from the Hales and from the sheriff when they burned down the Hale house and killed Claudia and their son. Now years later the Argents are back in town and Derek sees a way to get revenge in the form of Gerard's grandson, Stiles. Derek kidnaps Stiles but things aren't what they seem with the boy. Could taking Stiles actually have been a good thing for the boy? And if it was how far will Gerard and Kate go to get him back? Remember, Revenge Haunts All Of Us.

Kate set the Hale house on fire, killing most of the pack, their emissary Claudia Stilinski and her child, Stiles.
Thirteen years later and Kate is back in town, planning something that Derek is sure will end in disaster for them.
Good job he decides to kidnap the gorgeous teenager who smells like her and beat some information out of him.
Probably not the smartest move Derek's ever had!

When Stiles was eight his mother died. When Stiles was ten his father was shot and he was taken into child services. Stiles never made it to eleven.
The Hale pack survives Kate but she has plans to come back and take revenge.
When another pack contacts the Hales for help, they go, despite the fact the Alpha is crazy and his mate is a monster.

You’re a smooth operator looking to put together a team to rob a huge overseas bank. Millions of dollars are on the line, and after an even split with your crew you’ll finally be able to comfortably retire.
You’ve interviewed four teams, each of which have their pros and cons. Who are you trusting to successfully pull the job?

DC x SPN prompt idea
Sam and Dean get a tip about a haunted mansion from Bobby and they go check it out. It’s Drake Manor in Gotham City, which wouldn’t be a problem since no one was supposed to be living there. Except there was.
Sam and Dean meet Tim as they break into his house. Tim at first thinks they’re burglars but notices they’re carrying strange occult stuff. Tim looks at their stuff for a sec and just goes oh, are you here for the ghost?
And the boys, who had thought the kid was a) not alive or b) some sort of creature, are a bit thrown that this tiny child was left alone for months dealing with this ghost haunting his house.
Tim explains that he thinks she’s the ghost of his previous nanny before his parents fired her, but says she doesn’t do anything harmful, just tries to keep him company or get him to eat more often. She only breaks stuff when his parents are around but she stopped after it got him in trouble.
While Tim is sad for his ghost friend to be gone, he absolutely questions the heck out of Sam and Dean about all sorts of supernatural creatures and ghosts. Sam shows him ways to stay safe and avoid places with signs, etc. Dean teaches him how to fight and shoot weapons.
Tim is like seven or eight and pretty much blackmails Sam and Dean into teaching him how to be a hunter, and Tim ends up finding missions for them because he turns out to be a better hacker than Sam and Bobby. He gets the hunters money, sets up a network of information where hunters work together, and makes gadgets and gizmos for the guys to use against creatures.
Dean and Sam are worried about this small child alone in the house but think he’s better off there than as a hunter out in the real world. They don’t expect Tim to force his way into helping them, and every so often when they need help or info they call Tim then remind him to do homework or eat something.
Their road-trips now have frequent stops by Gotham, and even Bobby’s been able to make the trip to meet the lil guy who hacks his computer every week.
Tim also still knows Bruce is batman, and eventually becomes Robin, right. So he’s off doing that and keeping the whole supernatural world secret from Batman. Sam and Dean however, know the kid too well and eventually find out Tim is Robin. They may or may not take that well.
But! Since Tim is already aware of the ways of browsing the news and internet for crazy interesting cases and crimes, he comes across some posts about a potential zombie. Lo and behold- it’s Jason! So Tim calls Bruce and gets them sorted out. Maybe Talia still finds a way to kidnap him though, or Tim fights her on his own to keep Jason and loses, etc.
Either way, Tim ends up on the outs with the family still because he thinks he’s just filling in for Jason. So when his parents die and Tim is in need of a fake uncle? Who else would he call but Bobby!!
Just imagining Bruce and Bobby in the same room oh man. No doubt Alfred and Bobby would get along or absolutely hate each-other and no in between. I think Bobby would win in a fight against Alfred though. Just sayin.
Que Tim taking a call from Dean while he’s patrolling, thinking he’s alone as he details how to graphically kill someone, only to hang up and turn to see Jason standing right there.
Just, many shenanigans for how Tim seems a bit more unhinged than they thought. Like yeah Robin doesn’t kill, can’t kill when you work for Bats, but Tim Drake the Hunter made no such promises. Tim’s like ‘my first kill-‘ and freaks out the bats until he saves it by saying he’s talking about a game.
Sam and Dean come for a visit and Dick is suspicious. Tim goes on hunter missions and comes back with unexplained wounds. One of the bats might see him kill something and the guy turns to dust. Tim’s like no one will ever believe you.
As Tim drifts away from the bats he goes on trips with sam and Dean or helps bobby upgrade his tech. He lets Dean keep a batarang.
Maybe when Bruce is stuck in the time stream the first person he calls is Dean and Sam and Bobby. They’re like oh hey meet Cas, who then is like “Batman should not be allowed to alter the timeline” and just brings him back. He starts maybe using Cas for emergencies, or Dean tells Cas to keep an eye on tim only for him to step in whenever Tim seems in danger, even when he isn’t. Que Tim trying to convince Cas to wear a disguise when rescuing him in the field, etc..
Or maybe Tim makes a deal with a demon! He brings back Bruce but is fantastic at loopholes and gets out of hell card. Maybe Crowley is angry and takes his spleen just cuz. Dean is not happy.
Supernatural occurrences in the field happen and Tim solves it easily. No explanation. Maybe Constantine comes to solve it only to take one look at Tim and go “fuckin’ hunters, geez”. Or alternatively Tim corrects Constantine, saying stuff like you mispronounced (insert Latin word) or something like that.
Just, overall Tim shenanigans because if one of the bats had knowledge of the supernatural it would totally be Tim.

Baby It’s Cold Outside Chapter 2
A/N: Warning: Mention of child abuse. Abuse. Running away. This is depressing as fudge, I promise next chapter will be happier.
Tumblr media
Tyler nervously watched the time on his phone change from 11:59 pm to 12:00 am. It’s midnight and his father still isn’t home yet. The young man had been pacing around the room in a nervous anticipation ever since his conversation with Y/N at the Weathervane earlier today. After his shift at work, he waited antsy for his father to come home in hopes that he could ask him for permission to spend Christmas with Y/N.
Hopefully, he said yes.
The sound of keys jingling and the front door opening up jolted Tyler out of his thoughts as he watched his dad come into the living room, still dressed in his sheriff’s uniform. His tired eyes cast a glance over at Tyler as he turned fully towards his son. “Looking for something?”
Tyler shook his head no.
“Shouldn’t you be in bed already?” Sheriff Galpin asked. He sat down in a chair and began to remove his boots. Tyler watched him pull his feet free of them before putting them on the side of the chair. “I-I couldn’t sleep. Plus, there’s something that I need to ask you.”
That got the Sheriff's attention as he looked at his son with inquisitive eyes. Eyebrows raised. “Oh, and what might that be?”
“Can I go to Y/N Munster’s house for Christmas? He invited me to go.”
“Munster invited you?” The sheriff asks.
Tyler nodded his head.
The sheriff is silent for a second, looking at Tyler. Looking him up and down and Tyler has to fight the urge to look away from him, or look down. Finally, Tyler’s dad gave him his answer, and it makes his heart sink faster than the Titanic. “No. No, I don’t want you to go with that boy. He’s a menace, and I don’t trust him or his family.”
“But dad it’s only for a few days and I’ll be back in no–”
“–What part of ‘no,’ don’t you understand, boy?” The sheriff glares up at his son as the youngest Galpin falls silent. His father’s tone was any indication that this conversation was over. No more arguing or bargaining. Tyler wasn’t going anywhere, and that was final.
Tyler nods his head in defeat as he tries not to cry in front of his dad. Cry would only make the situation worse for himself if he did. So, he sucks it up until he’s safely inside the confines of his room to cry in peace. “Yes, sir. Sorry, dad. You're right.”
Sheriff Galpin nods his head. “Good. Now, go to bed because you still have semester tests tomorrow before winter break.”
Tyler nods once again as he leaves the living room, and up the stairs towards his room as he goes inside, shuts and locks the door before the tears fall down his face. He should have seen this coming. His father was the walking personification of a macho, straight male guy. Of course, he wouldn’t want his son going to an outcast's house for Christmas. Tyler was so stupid to believe that he would say yes. He should have expected the disappointment.
He sat down on his bed and looked up at the ceiling as he cried. His dad never used to be like this. So cold. Mean. Abusive. It started after his mom passed away when he was 6. And now sheriff Galpin was always on his son’s case about everything. And the worst part of it all was that Tyler hadn't told him about Y/N. That they were dating. He wouldn’t be disappointed in him, no, he would be fucking disgusted and beat him black and blue until the homosexual came out of him. Which is why Tyler hasn’t told Y/N that he hasn’t told his dad about them. He didn’t want to put Y/N through all that, but none of that mattered because he wasn’t going to be able to spend Christmas with his boyfriend.
Tyler looked at his phone and debated in his head on whether to text Y/N the bad news. Tell him that his dad has forbidden him from going anywhere with him. He could picture his boyfriend’s face, sad and full of tears, and it was enough to make Tyler cry once again, but he couldn’t. Not now. Not ever again. Maybe it was the Hyde side of him taking over, but in the recesses of his mind, a plan started to form. A plan that would change everything for him. His life. His relationship with his father. All of him. Was he prepared to accept the consequences?
Tyler got up from his bed as he began packing his things. Throwing clothes, shoes, personal items inside a giant duffel bag. He realized that his Hyde side might be pushing him, but ultimately this was his decision. He was conscious even to know what this would mean, and that there was no turning back once he chose to go down this road. And to be honest? Tyler couldn’t care less. He was running away from the town of Jericho. From his abusive dad. All of it.
….
The next day, Tyler kept spacing out, staring at nothing. He wasn’t paying attention during his classes, and he almost failed his semester tests, catching the worried eyes of his teachers. The thought of his father easily finding out about his little plan to run away. Catching him and punishing him. It made him shiver more than the cold weather was supposed to. He shakes his head, as if that act would instantly clear his head. That’s when he focuses on his task at hand, finishing his tests so he can leave school, pick up Y/N, and go. Once he’s finished each and everyone one of said tests, he leaves the classroom thinking he’s done his best. Probably not an A+ material, but good enough to pass for the semester.
Tyler holds tightly on his backpack straps as he passes by Lucas Walker. The son of the former mayor and sheriff as he nods to Tyler in understanding. This morning before school, Tyler offered Lucas a deal. If he would say that Tyler’s staying at his house for a few days, the Galpin boy would pay him fifty dollars to keep quiet. By then Tyler will have come up with a better plan by Christmas, he hoped. Lucas’s friends eyed him suspiciously as they still resented him for hanging and being friendly to the outcasts at Nevermore. Thankfully, not knowing of his Hyde side and all the terrible things he did, because they would hate him even more than they already did.
The young halfbreed pushed through the doors of the school as the frigid air of December blew through his clothes as he walked towards his truck.
“So, you and Tyler are both coming home for Christmas?”
Y/N could practically hear the smile in his mother’s voice as she said that. He chuckles. “Yeah, Ma. Tyler and I are coming home for Christmas. Tyler’s picking me up at 1:00 pm after he gets done with his semester test and we’ll head that way.”
“Well, your father and I can’t wait to meet him. Neither can grandpa Marilyn and Eddie.”
“Did you say that the whole family was coming from the old country?” Y/N asked as he pushed the last of his clothes into his duffel bag.
“Yes, dear. All your uncles are coming home for the holidays.”
“Well, I can wait to see you guys and everyone else, but I’ve got to go.”
“Okay, honey. See you soon.”
“Bye, Ma.” Y/N hangs up the phone as he makes sure he is everything ready before Tyler gets here. Nevermore was almost empty. Almost everyone had left this morning. His cousin Wednesday and Thing had left when his Uncle Gomez and Aunt Morticia came to pick up their daughter. Enid’s parents had come to get her. Bianca’s mom came to get her. Then Ajax had left with his older brother. Then a black, sleek car pulled up to the front of the school, as Xavier got in and winked at Y/N as he left for home as well. That left Y/N and a couple of other students who were still waiting for their rides and staff members.
About 15 minutes later, Y/N gets a text from Tyler that he’s on his way.
The young Munster smiled as he got his duffel bag, his backpack, and bundled up for the cold as he walked out of his dorm room, down the stairs and out to the front, waiting for his boyfriend to come pick him up. When he saw the red of Tyler’s pickup truck, Y/N smiled widely.
It pulled up right in front of him as the windows of the passenger side rolled down and Tyler’s boyish face could be seen. “Hey, baby.”
Y/N’s heart skips a beat at the nickname as a blush chases its way onto his face as Tyler comes from the driver side and pulls Y/N close into a kiss as red colored both their cheeks. From the kiss and the cold. Tyler pulled away, his blue eyes shining and a teasing smile on his handsome face. Y/N noticed the way light snow fell on Tyler’s golden brown locks and he had to resist the urge to run his fingers through them.
“You all set?”
Tyler’s voice brought Y/N back to reality. “Yeah, all set. Just this duffel bag and backpack and I’m good.” He showed the other boy his contents as he grabbed them from his hands and put them gently in the bed of his truck as he came back and laced his fingers with Y/N’s, pulling him towards the open passenger door. Tyler then puts a hand on the small of Y/N’s back, and the curly-haired barista pushed him into the passenger seat and closed the door as he came around to the driver side and got inside as he smiled. “Alright, next stop, New Jersey?”
“Yeah. I have the directions on my phone.” Y/N messes with his device for a few minutes before the navigation system comes on. It’s about a seven hour drive if they don’t stop too much.
“Great. And I’ve got a phone charger here for our phones and I’ve got chips and soda here, but if you get hungry we can stop somewhere later if you want?” Tyler asked him.
“Sounds perfect. I can’t wait for my whole family to meet you. I’m so excited.” Y/N is practically jumping in his seat with excitement as Tyler chuckles at his boyfriend’s amusement.
“And your dad was okay with you spending Christmas with my family?”
Tyler knew this question would pop up sooner or later, but he was still shocked when he heard Y/N ask it. He had prepared a whole speech for Y/N last night about how his dad didn’t give him permission at all to come with him, and oh, there was that small little detail of him running away from home. No biggie. Instead of telling him the truth; Tyler slipped into his other half. The half of him that lied to Y/N the first time when he had been accused of being the Hyde by Wednesday. The part of himself that almost ruined things between them. And now here he was, jeopardizing that very same relationship again, thanks to his lies. He just hopes that Y/N will understand and won’t hate him for lying to him again.
Tyler then put the truck in drive as he and Y/N drove away from Nevermore as it got smaller and smaller in the background as they drove through Jericho as Tyler’s heart spiked as they passed the Now leaving Jericho sign. Any minute now, his dad’s police car would show up behind them in the rear-view mirror. Tyler would be in so much trouble. His dad would probably beat him so badly that he wouldn’t dream about running away ever again and he would forbid the barista from associating with Y/N ever again. But it didn’t matter because Y/N would hate him when he found out about Tyler’s lies and deceptions. The same old tricks. Looks like Hydes couldn’t be trusted no matter how many chances you gave them.
Tyler’s heart didn’t stop hammering until they drove past Burlington and towards New Jersey.

There's No Other Way - Blur
You're taking the fun out of everything
You're making it clear, when I don't wanna think
You're taking me up, when I don't wanna go up anymore
I just watch it all
There's no other way
There's no other way
All that you can do is watch them play
another edit I'm not particularly pleased with but this song suits Tyler so damn well so I had to edit for him

Saachi was quite surprised to find the Sheriff was at the door when Missus Secura asked her to answer it. She was quite embarrassed that she hadn't put more effort into making sure her hair was brushed, but it had snowed heavily the night before and she wasn't expecting any of the ranch hands to show up.
"Is everything alright, sir?" She asked.
Sheriff Hunter floundered for a moment, "Is that how you greet everyone?" He asked.
"It's the badge, Hunt," Echo gave Hunter a meaningful nudge as he wheeled himself around his brother and into the house.
Hunter glanced down at the lapel of his dark overcoat, with the golden star pinned just over his heart, and quickly took it off, shoving it in his coat pocket.
"Well come on in! Don't let all the heat out!" Mister Secura chuckled good-naturedly, and Saachi stepped out of the way to let Echo and Hunter into the kitchen
"Echo, Sheriff, this is a pleasant surprise," Missus Secura smiled, offering them the plate of cinnamon rolls, fresh from the oven.
"Didn't mean to interrupt anythin', ma'am," Echo nodded, and gratefully accepted the pastry, "We just wanted to invite Yulia and Saachi to come skating with us this morning."
"That sounds wonderful," Yulia gasped and took Saachi's hand. Despite standing over the stove for the past hour, her fingers were still freezing, "Have you ever been skating before?"
"No, I-I don't believe I have," Saachi tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
"No need to worry," Echo gave Hunter's arm a solid whack, "Hunter can teach you plenty!"
"Would it just be the four of you, then?" Missus Secura asked, mindful as always.
"No ma'am," Echo sat up straight, "the rest of our brothers will be there too. We're teaching Megan how to skate today as well."
Saachi and Hunter on their own would be an appropriate pair to chaperone Yulia and Echo as they pursued their courtship, but no one would question the integrity of the local doctor in addition to the Sheriff's vow of honor.
"Come on, let's go get ready!" Yulia, still grasping Saachi's hand, pulled her from the kitchen and up the stairs to her room. It was like she knew her parents were going to day yes. Saachi's father and stepmother back home would have required several more rounds of interrogation before possibly considering Saachi being around four men all day, even if they were more friends than strangers.
The Fett boys, however, were no strangers. Saachi had been staying with the Securas in Pabu Creek for the last five months, traveling around Marauder Valley helping any women in need of a midwife or any kind of medical care. In doing so, she'd gotten to know Pabu Creek's Doctor Tech, Yulia's sweetheart Echo, and their brothers quite well. Not to mention their little sister, Megan. Megan was well-versed in medicine, and had helped Saachi and Yulia once or twice. Sheriff Hunter had also escorted them all over the valley, and helped them out of a sticky situation more times than Saachi would care to admit.
"Here, wear this," Yulia handed Saachi a fluffy red scarf.
"What, why?" Saachi wrapped it around her neck anyway, she needed the warmth.
"It matches the one the Sheriff was wearing. Plus, it's a good color on you," Yulia winked.
Saachi hushed her quickly, "He could hear you!" Yulia just laughed all the louder, and brushed Saachi's hair, pulling it back into a smooth bun that could easily fit under a bonnet.
Saachi rolled her eyes. Yulia's attempts at playing matchmaker were getting more and more overt, and Saachi didn't know what to do about it. It had been six months. If the sheriff was going to make a move on her, he would have done so by now. But Saachi didn't mind, not one bit. She was happy simply to spend time with Yulia and the others.
They came back downstairs, bundled tightly. and Yulia took their thicker bonnets from the coat pegs to tie below their chin.
Saachi fumbled with the strings for a moment, trying not to tie her mittens in a knot.
"Let me," The sheriff offered. He took the strings from her hands, tying them in a secure knot just below her chin.
"Thank you, Sher- Hunter." Saachi corrected herself.
"Anytime," Sheriff Hunter held out his arm to her, escorting her down the stairs of the Secura's porch to the sleigh he and Echo had ridden in. The two horses, Havoc and Maudie, waited patiently, delicately pawing at the snow as Hunter helped Echo down the stairs in his wheelchair.
Havoc was a dark gray stallion, with gruff neighs and whinnies. Maudie was a mare with soft yellow fur and mane, and she kept blinking at the brightness of the sun reflected on the bright white snow.
Hunter and Yulia helped Echo into the back of the sleigh with some blankets, and hung his wheelchair off the back of the sleigh. Hunter slipped into the front bench next to Saachi. With a click of his teeth, he urged the horses forward, and theytook off at a brisk trot down the road towards the Fett Family Ranch.
Saachi watched the snow around them, watching it sparkle in the morning sun against a clear blue sky.
"No one ever talks about how bright the snow is. Just how it's always cold, and wet," Saachi spoke quietly, trying not to interrupt Yulia and Echo's conversation. They were adults, they could talk about whatever they wanted.
Hunter grunted, and Saachi thought that would be the end of their conversation as the sleigh hissed across the top of the icy drifts.
"Sometimes it takes seein' something for yourself to see the beauty in it," He said.
Saachi felt the inner urge to keep the conversation going, but she had no idea of what to say next.
"What's your home like?"
"What, the ranch?"
"No no, not your house here, but, you said once that your family came from the Maori islands, right?"
Hunter nodded. "Rotura. New Zealand."
"When I came to America, we stopped in Auckland on the way over. It was pretty small."
"Auckland is not New Zealand," Hunter shook his head, "That's the British New Zealand."
"Right," Saachi gave a deep exhale, watching her breath frost on the crisp air with the awkwardness.
Fortunately, the Fett Home came into view as they rounded a copse of naked trees. Wrecker was outside, chopping wood, and little Megan was helping him, hollaring and waving as the sleigh came up the hill.
"Wrecker, what's she doing out without her coat on?" Hunter sighed and climbed out of the sleigh. But before he went over to give Megan a little push back inside, he offered Saachi a hand out from under the blankets and furs that cushioned the seats.
Wrecker shrugged, and tossed some more logs on the wood pile, "She seemed fine! She was having fun making the snowballs." He pointed to the piled next to the front door.
"She's a kid, Wrecker, she'll get sick faster than we will," Echo explained patiently. Wrecker helped him out of the sleigh and into his wheelchair, helping him through the tracks left by his chair from earlier in the morning.
"How are you going to skate with us, Echo?" Saachi asked, walking alongside Echo's chair.
A loud clattering from the barn, followed by a prolonged moo from the cow, Lulabelle, answered her question. Tech stumbled out, carrying another big, bulky chair in his arms.
"I believe this one will suit our needs rather well!" He proudly announced, holding it up as high as he could with the bulky shape.
Megan threw open the door to the house, now wrapped up in a long, woolen overcoat, with a scarf, gloves, and a thick bonnet like Saachi's and Yulia's.
"Who's ready for ice skating!" She whooped and grabbed Saachi's hand, taking off at a sprint down the hill from the house to the lake.
Omega skid to a stop at the lake's edge, and Saachi nearly crashed into her, both of them studying the ice in great detail.
"So how do we do it?" Omega asked, gasping for breath.
Saachi shook her head, "I don't know."
Still holding Saachi's hand for good luck, Megan stretched out her booted foot, placing it solidly on the ice. Nothing happened. Megan leaned forward, placing her second foot on the ice with it. She gave a little bounce to see if something would happen, and her feet slipped out from under her, and she landed on her rear.
A sharp whistle pierced the air, and Saachi watched Crosshair, the last and most aloof of the brothers, approach with two pairs of shoes with blades attached to the bottom.
"I think this will make it more fun for y'all."
"What's that?" Megan groaned, pushing herself back on her feet and rubbing her bum.
Crosshair waved the smaller pair of skates at her, and Saachi noticed a third pair slung over his shoulders, "This, kid, is the 'skate' in 'ice skate'."
Saachi helped Megan off the ice again, and Crosshair showed them how to lace up the skates as Wrecker and Tech helped Echo down the hill with his new chair.
The seat was the same wicker frame as Echo's wheelchair, but instead of the wheels, the framework beneath the seat was attached to two handles, much like the brake in a railroad engine, so that Echo could steer the ice skates at the bottom of the framework.
Yulia laced up her own pair of skates and was the first one on the ice after Echo. While he figured out the mechanics of his new chair, Yulia took Megan's hands and led her out on the ice. Megan's feet almost slipped out from under her, but Yulia kept a firm hold on her, showing her how to position her feet and keep her balance.
"Where's Hunter?" Saachi glanced around, but couldn't see the Sheriff who had brought them there.
"He's puttin' the horses in the barn to stay warm," Crosshair winked at her, "You're welcome to wait for 'im if you want 'im to show ya a few moves..."
Saachi's face flushed with warmth from her chin to the tip of her nose, despite the cold. Did everyone know that she was sweet on the Sheriff?
"Wrecker! Can you show me how to skate?"
"Me?" Wrecker was momentarily confused, but it was quickly replaced with a grin as big as the Grand Canyon, "Sure thing!"
Keeping her hand on Wrecker's arm, Saachi carefully pulled herself to her feet. She could balance a sword on her fingertip, she could balance her body on a single blade. She placed her feet on the ice just as Yulia had told Omega, and let Wrecker lead her across the ice.
Her legs wobbled a bit, “How do you move on these?” she asked.
“Like this!” Wrecker shot forward, yanking Saachi with him. Saachi squealed and hung on to Wrecker’s arm for dear life as she was dragged across the ice with him, her feet flying out from under her as she tried to get a semblance of balance.
Yulia laughed as Wrecker skated past with Saachi and tow. She was skating lazily, using Echo’s chair like a cane to keep her balance. Saachi caught a glimpse of Crosshair’s smirk and turned to shoot a rude comment in his direction, only for her grip to slip from Wrecker’s arm and send her tumbling face first into a thick leather jacket.
Hunter caught her under the elbows, holding her steady until she got her feet under her. Wrecker didn’t seem the least bit apologetic for his shenanigans.
"Thanks, Wreck," Hunter said, his voice low and his eyes never leaving Saachi's, "I got it from here.”
Wrecker laughed, “If you say so, boss!” He skated over to Megan, much more gracefully than one would expect of a man his girth.
Hunter took Saachi’s hand and tucked it into the crook of his elbow. His arms weren’t as big as Wrecker’s, but they were firm and warm, and it kept her hand tucked up against his warm chest. Saachi tried to place her second hand there for a more secure grip, but Hunter gently pushed it away.
“You’ll need that to keep your balance. Here,” He gave a little push with his skates, and he almost pulled away from Saachi before she pulled herself after him.
“Start with smaller strokes, it’s easier to keep yourself from fallin’ over. Watch me,” He pointed down at their feet. Though his feet moved almost diagonally as they pushed against the ice, his body kept moving in a straight line. Saachi matched her steps to his, slowly but surely gliding across the ice. Now she was starting to see why this was enjoyable.
Hunter led Saachi around the perimeter of the lake, helping her get accustomed to the movement and letting her find her balance.
“You know how to dance, right?”
Saachi blinked up at him, “Do you?” She demanded.
Hunter chuckled and spun himself in front of Saachi. Still holding her hand, he was skating backward as he led her in a lazy Figure Eight.
“C’mon now, you didn’t think we’re that uncultured out here did ya?”
Well, the Secura’s did host a dance from time to time, but Saachi couldn’t think of a time she’d seen the Sheriff dancing at one.
Before she could come up with a witty retort, Hunter gently pulled her in closer, holding her hand in his and placing his free hand on her waist. Saachi fell into dance position easily, and without missing a beat Hunter glided through the waltz steps– one, two, three, one two three –and spun Saachi under his arm.
Like any upper-crust lady who’d been taught how to dance, Saachi anticipated the move, lifting her right foot just above the ice, and rising to the tip of the blade of her skates. She wobbled on such a small area, but Hunter held her firmly, and kept her from falling.
Saachi landed with her back against Hunter’s chest, both his hands clutched in her, and the others applauded their show.
“Well done,” Hunter whispered in her ear. Unable to do anything but giggle childishly, Saachi gave a curtsy to her dance partner.
Megan laughed, more than confident enough in her own abilities as she skated by, grinning at Saachi and Hunter, like she knew something that they didn’t.
The sound of a gunshot ripped through the air, and everyone paused for a moment. When no one reported any injuries, they all relaxed, but Megan stayed frozen.
It turned out Saachi was warmed by more than just the movement required for skating. The ice was getting thinner, creating a spider-web of cracks beneath Megan's feet.
"Help me," She whimpered.
"Wrecker, you and Echo get off the ice," Hunter said. Everyone began talking at once, Wrecker protesting trying to say that he could help, Yulia trying to make her way over to Echo, Crosshair skating towards Megan as fast as he could, and Tech drawing closer as he tried to tell Megan how she should avoid falling through the ice.
"Everyone shut up and stop moving!" Hunter barked. His voice sent the birds scrambling away in the trees.
"Wrecker, you're too heavy. We need as many of us off the ice as possible."
Wrecker and Yulia helped Echo get his chair off the ice, and slowly Tech made his way to the edge of the lake.
“You too Cross,” Hunter said. Crosshair tried to move closer to where Omega was, but he was still halfway across the lake, and Saachi and Hunter were already closer to Megan. Finally, he gave up, and joined the others on the snow.
"Yulia, get us a stick or something!" Hunter waved a hand at the woods. Yulia stumbled through the snow, growing slushier with each passing second, and Crosshair was right being her, trying to find a stick the perfect length to reach Megan.
"Just stay right there, Megs, it's gonna be okay," Saachi smiled at her, trying to ease Megan's racing nerves as well as her own.
"Spread out your body weight, Megan, it will keep the ice from cracking faster!" Tech said.
Megan was balanced precariously already. The more she stared at her feet, the faster the cracks seemed to appear.
"Here!" Wrecker passed a stick as tall as Crosshair to Hunter. Hunter tossed it over to Saachi who held the stick out to Megan.
"Grab on, kid," He nodded urgently. Saachi held on to the other end of the thick stick, providing a counterbalance for Megan's weight and lifting her off the ice just slightly.
"Now what?" Saachi asked.
Hunter scrambled for a bit, trying to put his thoughts into words.
"We've got to swing her over to the edge of the lake, or at least off the weak part of the ice,"
Saachi nodded, wondering if she had the strength to do that on her own. She and Hunter were both too scared to move, any movement could make the ice crack faster and send them all into the frozen water below.
Strength, she almost certainly had. She'd picked up Megan and stacks upon stacks of encyclopedias at the library dozens of times before. It was her balance that was in question.
Saachi's breath frosted in the air, clouding her glasses as she gathered her strength. As best she could, Saachi swung the stick like a cricket bat, launching Megan at the lakes edge. She let go of the stick in the process, stumbling forwards and landing on her hands and knees.
Everyone heaved a sigh of relief as Tech caught Megan under her arms, helping her to her feet.
Saachi braced her hands on the ice to stand up, only to realize that this patch of ice was much darker than the rest.
She fell face-first into the freezing water without a chance to gasp for air.
"Saachi!" She heard everyone screaming her name, but all she could see was the dark water around her. She tried not to scream and lose what precious air she had left, kicking and searching for the surface as her fingers began to grow numb and the cold stabbed at her skin.
A stick jabbed her in the stomach and she grabbed it on instinct, trying to push away the offending object, but instead it tugged her upward, into the biting wind.
Saachi gasped for breath. By some miracle her glasses were still on her face, though her thrashing had pushed them down the tip of her nose. She could make out a clump of blurry shapes with Hunter's orange coat and the red knit hat and scarf Omega had made him. He was crawling towards her on his belly, across the ice, a death grip on the stick they'd used to save Megan.
"Take my hand!" He yelled. Megan and the others were also yelling, asking if Saachi was okay or what they could do to help.
Hunter shoved his hand in Saachi's face so she wouldn't miss it. Her fingers fumbled, unable to quite bend around his hand in a firm grip. Hunter gave a small tug, pulling her a bit farther out of the ice, allowing him to grip her wrist tightly.
"Wrecker! Grab my feet!" Hunter called over his shoulder.
Wrecker cautiously made his way across the ice, only stepping on the solid white parts as before he leaned forward, grabbing Hunter by the ankles.
The ice held beneath Saachi as the biting cold became slightly less cold as she was carefully pulled out of the hole in the ice.
"Good, good, keep going!" Hunter said, though the encouragement didn't feel directed at anyone in particular. Saachi reached for him with her free hand, digging her fingers into the leather of his coat as best she could. As her fingers slipped, Hunter seized her other wrist.
"Hang on, sweetheart, just a bit farther," He gasped, glancing over his shoulder. Wrecker had reached the lake's edge, giving Hunter the confidence he needed to move a bit more freely and pulled Saachi closer, wrapping her up in his coat and placing his had on her head. The laces of her bonnet still hung around her throat, like an icy necklace, and her waves had slipped from her bun, freezing against her bare skin.
"I'm getting her inside," Hunter was on his feet before Wrecker could offer to carry Saachi, following their footprints back to the door of the cabin.
Saachi blinked her eyes, trying to get rid of the icicles that were starting to form on her eyelashes.
"Hey, hey, hey!" Hunter said. It was almost the same tone that he used with the horses when they were acting up, but this sounded much more worried.
"Don't fall asleep on me, keep your eyes opened," He urged. His warm breath fanned across her face. It was a pathetic breeze compared to the snowfall, but it kept Saachi's nose from freezing.
Hunter kicked open the door and set Saachi in the rocking chair closest to the fireplace. The fireplace itself was down to the embers
"Karking hells-!" a mixture of all his sibling's names poised at the tip of his tongue, but he settled for growling instead. He tossed three logs on the embers, only to snuff out what was left of them.
He cursed again and grabbed the matches from the mantle. He tried once, twice, three times before the flame caught, and he pressed it up against the wood.
The fire spread slowly, too slowly for Hunter's liking. He yanked the blanket off of Megan's trundle bed and went to wrap it around Saachi, only to realize that she was still shivering in her wet clothes.
Yulia finally caught up.
"Do you have any spare clothes she could use? We need to get her things dried off."
Hunter climbed up the ladder to the loft, tossing down another blanket and his nightgown, thick linen for the cold months.
Yulia drew the curtain that gave Megan's little bed some privacy as the others made their way inside.
"Which one of you was dumb enough to let the fire go out in the middle of winter!?" Hunter snapped.
Tech huffed, offended, "Well, you are the one who said we should always be careful to put out a fire before leaving it unattended."
Megan giggled as Hunter floundered like a fish out of water.
"Hey Hunter, you still have your skates on." Wrecker pointed out.
"How'd you make it up the hill like that?" Echo murmured what Saachi was thinking.
Yulia helped Saachi peel her frozen things off her body, rubbing her hands against her arms and legs every so often.
"You alright?" Yulia asked, "That was a bit of a shock."
Saachi shook her head and pulled on the nightgown, "Und-d-ders-t-tatment of th-the cent-t-ury."
Saachi was quickly settled in the rocking chair in front of the fire and wrapped up in a pile of blankets. Echo and Tech escorted Yulia back to the Secura’s farm so she could grab some of Saachi’s things and explain that they needed to stay with the Fetts until Saachi was better, and Crosshair and Wrecker were seeing to the cows and the other animals on the ranch.
Megan, having been assured that it wasn’t her fault that Saachi had fallen through the ice, was asleep on Saachi’s lap, since Saachi was using her blankets. Hunter poured some water from the kettle into a bucket for Saachi’s feet, and used the rest to make some tea.
“Thank you,” Saachi whispered.
“Nothing like Indian tea, to be sure,” He joked, “But it’ll warm ya up.”
Saachi smiled up at him, and he quickly glanced away to hide his own smile.
“What was that for?” She asked, trying not to jostle Megan.
“Nothin’,” Hunter waved it off and sat on Megan’s bed with his own cup of tea.
Saachi wasn’t sure she wanted to take the man at his word. He had run up the hill in skates to get her to safety, and the water in the bucket was already warm before he added more.
If she wanted to find out if the Sheriff was sweet on her, like Yulia and Crosshair insisted, it was now or never.
“Sheriff, are you trying to court me?”
Hunter was quiet for a moment, then a chuckle echoed in his tin cup, “Have been for the last six months, but I was beginnin’ to think you weren’t interested.”
“Not interested?” Saachi asked.
He shrugged and set his cup aside. His winter things were hanging up to dry, leaving him in his suspenders and the work shirt that hugged his toned muscles from years of riding and hard work. He took Megan from Saachi’s arms and placed the girl in her bed with a blanket from one of their brothers.
“I thought you were trying to let me down easy, all polite and stuff.”
“Let you down, for what?”
“Well, escortin’ you to the carriage and walkin’ you around the town, makin’ sure you had the things you needed for your work, tryin’ to invite you to all the dances and stuff that Echo takes Yulia to, things like that.”
Hunter ran a hand through his hair and tucked the blankets around Megan a little tighter so she wouldn’t shiver in her sleep, “Maybe I wasn’t bein’ bold enough, like Cross said. But Wrecker said he thought I was doin’ good.” He sat on the floor next to Saachi’s chair and added another log to the fire.
"I thought you were just being nice! All the men back east do those things for women all the time."
"And you never thought they were flirtin' with ya?"
Saachi felt a heat in her cheeks that wasn't from the fire and laughed lamely, "Well, not really."
“Don’t worry,” Hunter tucked one of her curls into her braid, brushing her cheek with the pad of his thumb as he did so, “I still think you’re smart.”
Saachi glared up at him, her nose scrunching in a way that made him chuckle, the opposite of her intended effect.
Hunter pushed himself up onto one knee so that he could rest both his hands on the arm of the chair, next to where Saachi clutched her cooling cup of tea.
“Miss Saachi, I would be honored if you let me court you properly. Once you’re all better that is.”
Saachi felt the warmth from her cheeks soaking into every muscle in her body, almost as if she’d never fallen into the freezing water.
“I’d be honored, Sheriff Hunter.”
He smiled, sitting back on the floor. “I promise, once the snow starts to melt, I’m gonna pick you the most colorful bundle of wildflowers you ever saw.”
“Now that’s a high bar to reach, Sheriff,” Saachi teased, “I’ve yet to see any wildflowers on the Western Frontier that can match the lotuses of India.”
“Oh really?”
Saachi chuckled, "Tell me about your New Zealand, and I'll tell you about my India."
Hunter smiled wistfully. “Well, one of my oldest memories is of rotten eggs.”
“Rotten eggs?” This was not nearly as romantic as Saachi thought it would be.
Hunter laughed, letting his head roll back as he stretched out his legs, “Rotura is built on an old volcano. The sulfur and gasses eek out, and make the city smell worse than the British do.”
Saachi slapped a hand over her mouth to stifle her own laughter. The British had left their fair share of trash all over Saachi’s beloved home too.
“At least most of the British don’t want to settle there because of the smell, and those who are born there are used to it.
“And it’s not all bad. There’s lakes everywhere, more than I knew how to count as a kid. And the hot springs too, like Yosemite.”
“Did you ever visit them?”
“All the time.” Hunter pulled one leg to his chest, resting his arm on his knee, “I definitely miss them during the winter months.”
“I could use a hot spring myself,” Saachi said, “During the monsoon season, it never stops raining, but it never got this cold.”
“So you’re a good swimmer, then?”
Saachi gave Hunter a glare as playful as the twinkle in his eye. “I’m good at swimming when I’ve not been taken by surprise. And the floods in India don’t chill you to the bone like the snow does here.”
“Fair enough.”
“I much prefer the summer, when the mangoes ripen and you can sit in the branches and eat your full without moving an inch.”
“Yeah, me too,” Hunter said.
Saachi looked into his eyes. The heat from the fire dried out her eyes, but Hunter’s bright brown eyes carried that same glow of warmth without the searing pain. She wanted more of that warmth, of that glow.
He almost seemed to be getting closer, or at least he would have, if the door hadn’t been thrown open with a chilling gust of wind as Yulia burst in, Echo and Tech in tow.
Yulia froze in the doorway, noting Megan asleep on the bed, and Saachi and Hunter leaning conspicuously towards each other.
“Are we interrupting anything?” She asked, a musical lilt in her voice.
“Nope.”
“No ma’am.” Saachi and Hunter both insisted.
“Well good,” Tech pushed past Yulia with Echo’s chair, “Because Missus Secura sent us home with enough stew that even Wrecker should go to bed full.”
“Well that’s good,” Hunter said, trying not to sound embarrassed.
Echo and Yulia were not as easily deterred, and both of them watched Saachi and Hunter with knowing looks.
Saachi refused to dignify their teasing, and bent over her tea, which had gone cold.
“Here, let me get that for ya,” Hunter offered before she could even ask.
His finger brushed against hers as he slipped the cup from her hand, and Saachi’s heartbeat stuttered in her chest.
So this was what it felt like to be courted by the Sheriff.

Tyler in Season 2
A lot of people are worried about how Tyler will be portrayed in Season 2 of Wednesday. I am also concerned.
But I’m not as concerned as everyone else seems to be!
The writers convey Wednesday’s wounds, misbeliefs, and fundamental truths clearly. And the specific truths they want us to believe make me think that they will treat Tyler’s character with compassion.
Wednesday has many misbeliefs at the start of the show including:
Caring is a weakness: from the very first scene with Pugsley, she told him that ‘emotions’ are a weakness, but she means caring because that spurs sadness, happiness, love etc. because anger is an emotion, and she seems fine expressing that via revenge
People are good OR evil: she reacts as if those boys are pure evil when they are likely just assholes who don’t have their shit together
People can’t change: This is shown when she implies that Dalton doesn’t deserve the chance to have children, implying that he will never ever be good or worthy in his life. This also applies to how she treats herself, she doesn’t fully believe that she is good, and so it doesn’t matter if she does evil in the name of what’s right
The best way to show love is physical violence: she put piranha in the pool to hurt Dalton and his friends to show she loves Pugsley, and she also just tortures Pugsley (waterboarding was mentioned)
Authority isn’t on your side: again, not turning them in, but enacting her own violent revenge. This also goes for parents, teachers, the school system, and the justice system in general
Normies aren’t as powerful as outcasts: She acts on her revenge as if there is no way they could hurt her back in the same capacity, and they don’t, further fueling the misbelief
Wednesday’s Wounds
Each of these misbeliefs came from a ‘wound’ in her past.
The main one is that her pet scorpion was murdered in front of her. She felt like those normie kids were evil, and no adult came to help her. And those kids, as far as she knows, never changed for the better.
Another wound was that she sent her book to an editor, and they rejected her. That might not be a very old or fundamental wound, but it’s another case of her protecting something she loved (her books) with exaggerated violence (dozens of mousetraps.)
Over the course of this show, Wednesday will slowly grow by proving her misbeliefs wrong and revealing the fundamental truths of the world that the writers want Wednesday, and the audience to see.
Tyler’s Situation
So, going back to Tyler, he will be very useful in disproving these misbeliefs.
But if the writers don’t treat Tyler’s situation with care, it will enforce Wednesday’s misbeliefs, so she won’t grow, and the show won’t be interesting to watch.
And I think the writers know that. They addressed multiple of these misbeliefs throughout season one, but she never completely out-grew any of them. Which is a great set-up for a multi-season show
Fundamental truths that the Writers need to continue addressing (and how they connect to Tyler):
Caring is STRENGTH
They showed this in s1 with Enid, Xavier, Bianca, and Eugene all playing a part in helping save Nevermore
They can show that caring is strength if Wednesday cares about Tyler, or even if someone Wednesday knows (like Xavier, Tyler’s father, or the new principal) turns out to care about Tyler, and is able to help him out of his situation because of that caring
Everyone is part good AND evil:
They’ve already shown me that Tyler isn’t just evil, but they need to prove it to Wednesday in season 2
If they don’t prove this Wednesday won’t be able to grow
Like Tyler’s been saying all along, he’s done bad things, but that doesn’t make him a purely bad person
People CAN change:
They need to show Tyler’s growth!
This will reinforce the fact that Wednesday can grow too, and help all of these truths fall into place
However, Wednesday won’t be able to see this truth right away - this is where Tyler could get hurt - but if they let him die or make him purely evil, the whole message of the entire show will fall flat
The best way to show love is CARING:
If the writers still want Tyler to still be a love interest (unnecessary in my opinion, but I’d live), then Wednesday is going to have to prove to Tyler that she cares about him
But they can prove that ‘love is caring’ to Wednesday by having those around her care about her, like Enid or Xavier
Personally, I want Wednesday to see that love is caring by Tyler’s dad caring for him
Authority CAN help:
Weems proved to be good in the end, as well as the mayor and the therapist, and that will be helpful, but Laurel having been a teacher won’t help this progress
Someone besides a student will need to be a big part of the s2 plot to show Wednesday that adults and authority members aren’t always useless
This could be shown by Wednesday (or Xavier or Enid or another student) working with and adult to get Tyler to safety. It could be any other adult showing true compassion
I doubt Wednesday is ready to work with her parents yet - that might be an s3 hurdle
Normies ARE powerful:
This was mostly proven already in s1 via Laurel and Crackstone, but it was undermined by the fact that they still failed
The other truths would benefit from a normie being powerfully good
This would be a great chance to throw in an amazing normie therapist who really understands Wednesday’s dark side
I know this is a lot of information
But I've been analyzing this for a while, and I think it’s important that these ideas are out in the world.
The writers made Wednesday’s outlook morally grey. She tased Tyler after knowing how hydes work, after all. So, at the start of season two, she likely won’t accept Tyler as a complex and real human being who deserves love.
But I think the writers know that Tyler deserves love even if Wednesday doesn’t. And I think the writers want Wednesday to eventually know that Tyler is real and complex, and I think the writers want the audience to know that even now!
I could be wrong, but I don’t think I’m far off base. This show didn’t just become amazing by accident. A lot of thought was put into this plot, and Wednesday’s and Tyler’s characters.
So I think a lot of thought and care will be put into how Tyler’s character is treated in season two because these truths that the writers have set up are caring and compassionate.
Thank you for coming to my crazy long ted talk!! ❤️ I appreciate you
