Space Marine Husbandry Hot Take
Night Lord breeds can really only be used to help stimulate breeds that were pushed too far. They are mutts full stop. If anything they are like the old bully breeds of old, personally it is a miracle that there are owners that are willing to take them in. Personally, I don't want to put the poor Marines (who will certainly outlive me) under any due stress.
Iron Warriors can be a very affectionate Breed. While, given their primogeniture's treatment for them.. they will be hard to open up.. but it can be done. They will need work and constant praise. You do need to monitor them and provide them with optimal stimulation (introduce them to the SIms, or some high tech engineering project)
Salamanders are NOT for the novice owner. They are larger and a tad bit more slower than the average Marine but because of their demeanor they are seen as the "good family pet". While they ARE good protectors, with their weapons, owners have purposely abandoned Salamanders because, their homes have burned down or if they were foolish enough to have a Night Lord housed with the Salamander get a tad bit smarty and got roasted for their troubles.

Rex tries fight Vulkan but is no match for the strength of the Primarch’s spine breaking hugs of affection.
To be honest, this is probably the first time, if not in a long time, that I've ever been asked to write something that ISN'T RWBY. And with a franchise I'm only just barely getting into. Well, with that said, here's a Warhammer 40k shitpost about the galaxy's biggest cinnamon roll and an overly enthusiastic T-Rex.
------------------------------------
Rex: FIGHT ME!
Vulkan: How amusing! A salamander who speaks!
Vulkan, father and primarch of the Salamanders Legion of the Imperium of Mankind, approached the large reptile with open arms. Taking the creature in his embrace, he felt the beast thrash against him. This strange creature, who walked on two legs and not four, continued to shout in low Gothic for the perpetual primarch to engage him in combat. Perhaps this was another test of his father's?
Rex: FIGHT ME!
Vulkan: Gladly!
Vulkan lifted the beast into the air, then threw it into the ground. The beast screamed like a human, yet fought unlike any beast he'd ever encountered. Taking hold of it's jaw, he pulled back, earning yet another scream until the telltale sound of snapping bone caused him to let go. A large beast, like a Salamander, but not quite as sturdy.
Vulkan: How sad it is that the one fascinating creature in this universe, and it is too brittle for me.
Rex: FIGHT ME!
Vulkan red eyes shined with delight. The beast yet lived! Even with his jaw ripped open, he'd managed to return with himself wholly intact! Vulkan held the beast tight and let out a bellowing laugh!
Vulkan: Such a wonderful gift my father has brought me! Such a sturdy beast requires a sturdy name!
Rex: REX HAS NAME!
Vulkan: Rex! King! Ha ha! A fitting name for a Salamander unlike any other!

Astartes AU - A infestation of spider grimm that lays eggs en masse was found in a forest. While plans were being made to deal with it, a squad of Salamanders arrive and just burns the entire thing to the ground and leaves without saying a word.
Ozpin beheld the once vibrant and luscious Emerald Forest, sipping from his mug to ignore the smell of smoke and ash below him. The mission was simple; Salem had created a new breed of Grimm to infest and overwhelm her students with their rapidly multiplying spider eggs. Seeking outside help, he called upon the Salamanders of the Imperium of Mankind, trusting them to take care of everything.
And they did. They took care of the newly named and newly extinct "Ovirachnids" as well as all other Grimm in the forest and even went so far as to burn down the forest itself. If it wasn't for the grinning smile of expectation on their faces, he'd be furious. Thus, here he stood thinking of new ways to conduct his initiation.
"And I just finished paying off that deposit, too."

My hot tip for life is that there is nothing more fun than enabling an academic to talk about their special interest. Like, I will listen all day to a stodgy old phd waxing poetic about the five years they spent studying giant squid in the arctic. I could be entertained for hours by a classics major telling me all about niche beef between two writers in the 17th century. Literally nothing better, highly recommend it, 10/10.

A job I was applying for mentioned I would be working with something called a “frosted flatwoods salamander”, which sounded positively delightful, so I looked them up and I could not be more pleased with what this beast looks like
