Chapter 8 of Every Time I See You Falling is out!

Summary: The Resistance receives an interesting visitor that already begins to polarize Neopets in there, and Parlax and Gormos go on a mission.

Sin should not be overlooked, as Hannibal believes. There is no God, there is no tooth fairy, as such – one should be their own judge in the constellation of their stars. As he sits in prison now, hands clasped on his worn knees. His mind recasts memories of Will Graham.

PRIDE fuels Hannibal himself. He’s a prideful friend. Will Graham serves to continue assisting the FBI, but he can’t also feel a little bit of prejudice against him. He feels a little gnawing at the back of brain at the feelings of Will’s inconspicuous betrayal.

GREED, is what accompanies pride. Hannibal wants Will all for himself. Whilst not obvious, silent remarks of Will wash through Hannibal’s actions. He twitches his legs, and eyes dart back and forth – as though looking for his figure in the shadows, or even listening more attentively for the man’s footsteps.

LUST in the more platonic sense, drifts ashore. Hannibal wishes to be Dr Lecter, once more to Will Graham. Whilst their barred relationship has gone rocky – and has returned to a “Dr Lecter” state, Hannibal can’t help but desire their patient-therapy times. Hannibal stares soullessly into the clock above, eyes swirling for better or for worse as he recalls the broken clock Will once drew for him. He’s also broken his insides, for sure. Hannibal can’t help but feel ENVY for Alana Bloom, or even Bedelia for that matter. Alana, he quietly promises to himself and Will’s lingering scent, that he will find her and her wife – Margot Verger. Whilst he stops himself to stoop so low as to fully destroy the Verger heir, he droops his head into his hands, ruffling his greyings, and closes his eyes to breath the scent of Will – wishing he were there.

GLUTTONY may have been his own downfall. Similar to greed, Hannibal wants more. He wants, not just Will in the physical sense, but also his heart – metaphorical. He wants to see it dripping from skin down in blood, lustful blood that makes his saliva tingle in his mouth and eyes light up with the same obsidian as that one singular night.   WRATH builds. Lecter is a patient man, but day after day as he uncuffs his grey low-quality uniform, his heart aches for a more desirable condition. No matter how many books are towed in for his pleasure, he wants to seek his own delights. He may have a telephone, he may call people now and then under supervision – but he will never be the same person out of jail. A SLOTH in empathetic values, Hannibal finds it difficult to think for anyone anymore. He thinks for himself – mostly, but his indolence affects many. His choices are not based on empathy, they’re decisions based on merit. He chose to surrender himself, yet feels aggressively dismayed by the lack of contact from Graham. Nonetheless, he knows the chase isn’t over with the Red Dragon flying overhead. Bored, he leans over the corners of his tidy bed for a recurring book. It’s European art. Perhaps the biblical portraits of familiar figures and certain crimson creatures will suffice for his current circumstances. Set during Season 2 Hannibal NBC

Requesting Jeran the Lupe from Neopets? I had a crush on him when I was 9

(As a preface, see the Darkest Faerie for the framework under which I'm approaching Neopets for this blog.)

I've identified two games where Jeran appears: the first is the long, long defunct Meriball, where he's playable alongside his sister and buddies from the Meridell plots.

The second is Legends of Pinball, where he's an interactive element on one table alongside the Turmaculus, Gorix, and Cynara on other tables.

...and both don't really lead to much else. The Return of Dr. Sloth duo are in other games like Time Tunnel and Moon Rock Rampage, but they seem to be the only fully identifiable characters in their game. Escape to Kreludor mentions Dr. Sloth, but I don't think he's ever alluded to actually be in any of the ships in an abstract sense.

It's even slimmer pickings for the Meridell bunch, because I couldn't find any other games at all.

I mean, there's Dueling Decks, but those are literally cards in-universe.

Now there are, of course, a lot of Neopets minigames, so it's very possible that I missed a game or two. At the very least, I'm reasonably certain that if it's possible to connect to King Skarl or Dr. Sloth, the rest of the route follows. But as it stands, no dice.

i read lu-is-not-okay's sin analysis guide and it made me think about outis some more (mainly base outis)

TL;DR for the guide: Each sin's meaning is likely different from the mainstream interpretation of them (e.g. Lust does not necessarily mean being horny), and an identity's skills represent the layers of their psyche (With s1 being the surface layer and s3 being the deepest layer of the mind)

I should note that this draws from my previous theory of Outis's story so it might be needed to check that out to clear any confusion. Also, since Outis's story isn't going to be released for a very long time, this is really just conjecture.

Anyway...

Outis has a sloth s1 (Pulled Blade), a pride s2 (Backslash), and a gloom s3 (Piercing Thrust), right?

Going by the guide, Sloth S1 represents Outis's resignation to her circumstances. She's given up on hopes of ever returning home after the Smoke War, believing it to be totally impossible.

Pride S2 likely alludes to a fatal mistake Outis made out of hubris during the Smoke War, one that could possibly even be the reason why she cannot return home. Since we don't have her story yet, this is more based off of Outis's source material.

In The Iliad, the protagonist Odysseus had been captured by a giant called Polyphemus. When he demanded his name, Odysseus told him his name was "Ουτις" (Outis), which means 'nothing' in Greek. Odysseus later blinded the giant, who screamed "Outis (nobody) is killing me!" (and thus leading the other giants to ignore his pleas) and allowed them to escape.

However, before leaving, Odysseus revealed his true name to Polyphemus in an act of hubris, taunting him. As a result, Polyphemus was able to pray to his father Poseidon to curse Odysseus to “[never] reach his native land, to [never] come once more to his own house and see his friends again” and to “let him come late, in evil plight, with all his comrades dead, in someone else's ship, and find troubles in his household."

Sounds pretty familiar to Outis's predicament, right?

Afterwards, gaining a grudge against Odysseus, Poseidon began sabotaging Odysseus's journey. All of which would have been prevented had Odysseus's arrogance not gotten the best of him.

Returning to Limbus Company Outis, I feel like Pride S2 would represent her invoking catastrophe the same way as Odysseus -- in an act of arrogance, she will make a huge mistake with terrible consequences (perhaps being the reason why she cannot return home?). Could be her revealing her identity to the enemy to brag -> said enemy pulls a few strings and finds a way to prevent her from returning home, or it could be something less 1-to-1 with The Iliad. Either way, the skill would allude to her ignoring the consequences of her actions in that one moment.

Alternatively, it could refer to her participating in the Smoke War, not quite aware of the potential consequences that could result from leaving her home.

Finally, Gloom S3. This one is a bit hard to pin down with actual evidence because, again, we know very little about Outis's actual past. Additionally, nothing really suggests that Outis is "overwhelmed" with negative emotions at the time of this post. In fact, she's known for being the most rational and collected sinner, despite her obsequious attitude towards Dante. (There's probably something from The Iliad that I could connect to here, but I honestly don't know that much about the epic.)

That being said, I imagine it'd have something to do with regret. Whatever conceited mistake Outis made came back to bite her in the ass, and now she can never return home to those that wait for her. Indeed, she would definitely dwell on her unfortunate circumstances even if she is resigned to them. "If only I hadn't let my hubris get the better of me."

As for appearing rational and seeming the exact opposite of "overwhelmed with negative emotions"...

I have nothing to support this, but it's possible that Outis's implied duplicity through her sycophantic behavior towards Dante is a front. She's well aware that all of the other Sinners and Vergil think she's going to backstab them at any moment -- that's the point of it. It's a smokescreen to cover up how she actually feels, which is intense lament due to being unable to see her loved ones ever again.

That doesn't necessarily mean said treachery is "fake", since she could still backstab them (although you could argue that if she really did want to betray them, she wouldn't make it so obvious). It's just that she intentionally uses said sycophancy and hints of disloyalty, however genuine they may be, to mask her actual issues and her past.

Good god, ok… I started getting tired around year 10 and I just finished this a few minutes ago (it’s past 3 am). There are a lot of plots at the beginning that don’t differentiate between meta lore plots and world lore plots but they become distinctly separate at year 6. The crossed out dates are because I’d like to come up with month names that don’t sound as infantile as the canonical ones.
