For those of you who are interested, there's a new sitcom on Hulu called Not Dead Yet with an autistic character (and played by autistic actor Rick Glassman)! The tiktok link is his scene from the pilot where he explains it and it's really great.
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRtj3gKm/
It stars Gina Rodriguez (i know), Hannah Simone and Lauren Ash, and if you were a Jane the Virgin fan you're gonna feel like you're back in 2014 bc she's playing a writer again (she works at a newspaper obituaries with a fun gimmick, hence the title). Her roommate Edward is autistic and so far my favorite part of the show. I watched the two episodes that are out and they're promising!
He has a great arc with her in episode two that involves some neurotypical trolling that I thought were great. So far the writing doesn't feel derogatory and the jokes aren't punching down. Idk how much credit goes to the writing staff vs Rick but so far his autism (and the fact he has a girlfriend) is just as normalized as one of her friends being gay. He's not infantalized or made fun of, and in episode two he an Nell (Gina) have a solid arc about trying to figure out how to live together that features his autism but doesn't reduce him to it. They both have needs and she doesn't tiptoe around his autistic needs, she says that she has needs too (a table to eat/work at bc he has work items covering their breakfast bar) and those can coexist with his. If he needs the breakfast bar for work, then she gets a table. He doesn't need to make himself less autistic to make her comfortable but he doesn't get a pass on everything because he's autistic, he's an adult that she lives with and they will keep figuring it out as they go. He also apologizes for saying something insensitive earlier, that he didn't think about it but his girlfriend helped him realize that he hadn't considered her side. It felt very authentic and I loved it. I'll definitely be watching more and posting about it and would love to hear anyone's thoughts about it too!

you can always tell the people who give social media advice who are naturally or conventionally attractive even without even having to look at a photo of them cause they're always the ones that recommend showing your face in reels or videos to promote your art and it's like,,, talk about pretty/skinny privilege lol

When you’re lamenting shows, books and movies changing Monkey Kings Backstory until its unrecognizable and everything that made him him is gone, wanting a version that doesn’t butcher his character so thoroughly, wanting something where he’s smart, and clever, and silly, and terrifying and values his monkey fam- and then your remember you already have that version and can just go read the book

Was.... that supposed to be the end of FO4? 😐 Like once you've blown up the Institute you get this random nostalgic slideshow that has nothing to do with ANYTHING and that's it? You beat the game! Good for you! But we'll place you back into the world to keep playing I fucking guess? What's going to happen to your friends and The Commonwealth with all the decisions you made?😐 Don't ask us! Not like we're going to make an RPG with the infamous RPG IP, that would be silly!

i like how the american dad fandom collectively headcanons that roger had terrible, ab//sive parents back on his home planet
like take a look at this goofy alien guy: hes an alc//h//lic, he has traits of a multiple personality disorder, hes an addict, he has very clear abandonment issues and went on a family bender, he smokes; all those things right there are DEFINITELY trauma responses like he clearly has LOTS of trauma he isnt properly dealing with
he even keeps his dad in the smiths freezer and takes a bite of it every year on his bday for gods sake like he aint right in the head

I've been seeing this same sentiment going around the fandom, but I wouldn't hold my breath, personally. Not to sound pessimistic but I just don't trust the writers with Zane anymore, ever since the Wildbrain seasons started it feels like they just don't care about him. At most we get cute and sassy moments, and small reminders that he's the most compassionate ninja, but as far as him getting a whole arc dedicated to him or a deep dive into his character, we haven't gotten that since season 3. Every time they even came CLOSE to doing it again they bailed on it:
We get a season where the second half is called "Ice Chapter" and yet Zane barely shows up in it at all.
We get an "evil Zane" arc of sorts but don't ever see him actually fighting the ninja aside from Lloyd, nor do we see him grapple with the whole trauma of being lost in another Realm for years without his memories and living as an evil tyrant.
He apparently became so depressed over Nya's death that he had to turn off his emotions in order to even function, and yet the show doesn't let him turn them back on after they get Nya back except for one brief moment just to make a dumb joke.
He spends the rest of the season being a completely emotionless robot until we finally get an episode dedicated to him realizing the importance of grief... but the one who teaches him this lesson is some random annoying Gen Z self-insert character, and Nya, the supposed reason behind him even shutting off his emotions in the first place, isn't even brought up at ALL. (Seriously, why wasn't SHE the one to coax him out of his robot phase, that could've done wonders for their relationship! Not that they have a bad relationship, quite the opposite, it's just rarely explored and this could've been a golden opportunity, especially since Nya was also going through some stuff with her powers and all.)
We get an episode called "Return of the Ice Emperor", but in it the Ice Emperor only appears briefly, is presented more as comic relief than anything, and we STILL don't see any kind of exploration into how the existence of the Ice Emperor affected Zane! He literally just shows up, Zane dies for the 50th time, comes back to life completely fine again and the Ice Emperor gone, and that's it.
Given how many other things Dragons Rising is setting up in terms of character arcs (Arin's low confidence, Lloyd's panic attacks, Kai being gone and how that will affect Nya and Wyldfyre, and the whole Agent Walker situation) I just don't think the show will go out of its way to also juggle a Zane arc, except in a very shallow way.

Hijacking this post to say that my pet theory is that to have 'revolutionary s*suke' at the forefront of your perception of sasuke you have to have entered naruto fandom before finishing naruto (probably because it was still in serialisation). Because reading the whole thing all the way through makes it pretty clear that s*suke's fatal flaw is his (completely understandable and fair, trauma-induced) decision to view everyone else as pawns. He's right about the system, but he can't be the one to fix it because he doesn't actually care or even really perceive the common individual. His sudden desire to be Hokage immediately after planning to massacre everyone in the village is a culmination of his fatal flaw, ie: that he wasn't a revolutionary for the people, he was a revolutionary against some fuckers. Which, again, completely just and reasonable, speak your truth king, but sasuke in power would have been a definite Bad End scenario for the average poor sod. Indeed the ideal scenario for s*suke is him getting to knock down the current corrupt system and then fuck of into the wilderness to pet crows and kick people he dislikes in the balls—which is pretty much what happens, bar the actual dismantling of the system because, yknow, b*ruto needed space to happen.
Wait this got away from me a little. What i wanted to bring this 'round to is that blaming any of team 7 for s*suke pushing them away is missing the point. He's traumatized. It makes him a bit of a dick in some situations. That's fine. Him not being perfect doesn't invalidate him being a victim or even a hero.

the problem with choosing the templars vs mages in daos circle quest is like... if u do everything right, the templars are objectively wrong (as they always are), the mages are perfectly fine and there are no consequences to saving them sbbshs
