I need to stop writing while I'm sick because now I'm having serious doubts about half of the central plot of herald
#what the fuck do i do with nathaniel#like. the first half of herald is solid i really like it. its got some kickass scenes in there#as is the second half of the middle. but the rest of it--#what the fuck is nathaniel DOING#does he have a purpose#alex james leo ronald mary. ive got all their characters down decently well.#even donovan! who is dead and doesnt show up but is there in spirit#amelia is. getting there i have her character mostly down. not completely but its decently close#but nathaniel!!!! what the fuck is he doing! what is his purpose in life!#why does he exist!!#hmmm#maybe i bump up the ekker trial a few years#from like 1938 to 1940 or 41#june of 41 might work well actually#because any skepticism about the case would fly out the window by december#and then... james uncle would have retired shortly thereafter#which would make more sense cause why was james in charge of the whole newspaper when he was 22#pushing it to 24 or 25 would make more sense#still young but. believable#but then alex!!! what to do about alex!!! she cant be younger im not making her younger she needs to be 31#but does that mean shes only been working at herald for 7 years??#unless...#what if she worked at a different paper. not the ladies magazine smth between that and herald#and she was a court reporter for that case. that explains her inital interest in it#that'd make nathaniel what. 19? that works i can work with that#yeah i can. hmmm. i can ABSOLUTELY work with that#wip: herald at dawn
