This is a long shot but I (20+F) am looking for anyone who might be interested in detective noir threads set in the '70s or early '80s. I'm open to playing against any character, OC or canon, but I specifically want to write BJ, a young male sex worker and gangster, from The Red Riding Trilogy films. It would be fun to write opposed someone from his canon like Eddie Dunford but I'm happy with anything! Especially detectives, journalists, and fellow sex workers. And don't worry, you don't really need to know anything about the franchise. I can fill you in or find a way to work BJ into your character's world.

Please be aware that any threads may contain mentions of: murder, trafficking of women and children, abuse of adults and children, decade accurate homophobia, sexual assault, religious trauma, substance abuse, police brutality, gang violence, and prostitution. BJ's backstory is dark and unforgiving, but to erase any of his disturbing history would be to do a disservice to his character and (what I hope will eventually be) his journey into a better, healthier life. Please let me know beforehand if there are any topics you would like to ignore or gloss over. Your comfort is most important to me! 🕊️

For detectives and journalists, I'd love to write BJ as their informant! Working with them to get information to help with cases, maybe gradually developing a romance along the way (please note that BJ is very gay so I will only ship MxM).

For other sex workers or gangsters, I don't have too many ideas, I just think it would be nice for BJ to make some friends. Maybe they could go on the run together. Alternatively, enemies work too! Let BJ and someone else hate each other.

But I prefer that we plot something out together! I would much prefer discussing over IMs. I'm open to almost any dark topics as long as we discuss them a little beforehand. However, even though I might loosely reference it because of his canon background, I will not write anything sexually explicit with BJ before he's 18. This is for my own comfort!

OPEN — In which your muse is There to be grabbed by police (or someone, we can play with it) with BJ not because they were really wanted, but because they were with him in the wrong place wrong time. This presumes that they already know each other to some degree and are at least friendly acquaintances, but there is no need to have interacted before.

Barry James Anderson did not know how long they had been trapped there. The rope tied around his wrists and ankles was beginning to chafe, the thick hood over his head growing claustrophobic. There was no light here, had not been for a long while, and their captors had not returned for several hours. BJ would worry that they were being left to die here among the dust and rats if not for the fact that he recognised them. Recognised their voices.

The van had come when he and his companion were walking. It had been a nice evening and they had plans for dinner. "My treat," BJ had told them, grinning. "Fell into some good money this week." But down a darkened street, the van seemed to form from shadow, and men, four of them, all in dark clothes and dark masks, grabbed them both before BJ could register what was happening. Chloroform made the going down easier.

They had laid there in the back of the van for hours, not unconscious, but dizzy and fume-sick. Their hands had been tied the moment they were shoved into the back, and hoods thrown over their heads. The men's voices were distant and garbled in BJ's ears, but sometimes they laughed and he could feel them as they tormented his friend; the jerk and moan of a soft body next to him. A kick to the stomach here, a cigarette snuffed out there. BJ knew because he got the same, and by the time the van finally stopped and its rattling engine cut, he was sore from head to toe and too tired to beg.

From there they were led somewhere cool and damp that smelled of mildew. Not near a road, or not a well-trafficked one—BJ had listened hard, but there was no rumble of cars or any sound at all. No birds, no wind... It was as if they had been transported somewhere outside of the rest of the world. Spirited away from the world of the living and vanished into the shadow of a nightmare. They were alone here, him and his unfortunate friend. And BJ knew it was his fault.

Their captors had said nothing of substance to them no matter how much they were questioned. They worked them over until their bruises were refreshed and the ache in their ribs returned, then left them without a word. Without food. Without water. Without a single fucking hint as to why they were there.

"I'm sorry," BJ murmured. He didn't know if his friend was still conscious, but it needed saying. Because he knew. He could not bring their faces to his memory just now, but he knew those voices as well as he knew his own. "I'm so sorry... Are you—" Okay? Of course not. "Are you badly hurt?"
