I thought I was doing a kind thing and contributing when I ordered a super plush, fluffy white, cute animal throw blanket for my little GF. I just figured she could snuggle with it and enjoy it. I looked forward to her opening the box upon arrival only to watch her expression of anticipation collapse into what looked like disappointment. She looked at the blanket then glanced up at me and said, “We’re not bears Jimmy, we’re kitty cats.” Oh my goodness, did I miss a memo? my bad...lol We experience oddities around here all the time playing in the ethereal world. Hawks have shown up on my fence post that are normally not found in the city at all. We’ve seen a dozen coyotes in a pack walking down a private street residential area, and even the occasional bald eagle. Call upon whatever unusual animal is showing up in your world and realm now! Google what they represent and ask them, even in your head, to bring their super power into your life and co-create profound changes!

Lonely Sunday Morning (fanfic)

So, a bit of a setup here: some 4-5 years ago maybe(?) I created Michaela Shepard to RP with @scarletthalloran‘s Kaidan Alenko. During that time, she introduced me to Levi Kreis’ songs. Several in particular stood out as really good Mass Effect inspiring, but Lonely Sunday Morning just spoke to me on another level altogether. Ever since then, I’ve been trying to finish a fic I started for her tied to that. Tonight, I finally finished it.

Here you are, my dear! I’m so sorry it took so long, but just know these two are always in my mind, and though short lived, I had a blast playing Michaela with your Kaidan! :) <3

Like a lion through the high grass of the savannah, exhaustion stalks her every move, and with each mission, every battle, it is only getting worse. If she feels anything, it is the weight of every minute, every hour, every day that passes since fleeing Earth and the Reaper attack. It doesn’t matter that it was for the good of the galaxy; it still hurts, and moving the entire process forward is a painful battle of its own, at times even against herself. She is drained; no doubt about it. Spent physically, emotionally, any and all ways a body, mind and spirit can be wrung out. But the missions come with such frequency and with very little of the precious downtime in between, she feels as if she is perpetually cracked, her life seeping out through the fissures.

The war is taking its toll on her crew as well. On her friends. Mistakes have been made. The risks are starting to outweigh the benefits, but what other choice is there? The fate of the galaxy is on the line and they, she, is the only one who can get them there. Winning is the only option; well, not the only, but failure certainly isn’t in the cards. Not if she has a say in it. At the very worst, they die trying, and if that is their destiny, at least they will leave better counsel in place for the next cycle.

Shepard’s towel slithers down her body to form a muddled heap at her feet. She chooses to ignore it and the many regulations drilled into her during basic so many years ago, instead opting to crawl straight beneath the sheets. Temptation is a dangerous thing, she recalls hearing somewhere. Right now, temptation wins out, though guilt tracks her quickly on its heels and attempts to gain traction … to no avail, the shower having taxed all remaining strength to push it away.

So close, she thinks as her head hits the pillow, tears finally forming as the truth wraps around her like a shroud. We were so damned close … and now we are even further away than before …

The dampness of her hair soaks the pillow and case, but she doesn’t care. Her eyes close, blessed sleep just within her grasp. To escape the failure, if only for a fleeting moment. She wants, needs, to recharge. To process. To find a way to cope so that she can charge forward tomorrow as they need her to …

Bedclothes drawn over her shoulders, the soothing light from the fish tank the only source of brightness in the room, reality smacks her in the face with the force of a krogan headbutt, and she shudders. Realization, even at this depth of exhaustion, is not kind; it doesn’t matter how tired she is, how badly her body wants to fade into unconsciousness, her brain is unwilling to accommodate her and will not shut off. Focusing on good times, envisioning familiar, friendly faces – none of that will help. Distraction comes in many forms, but right now, behind closed eyelids, all she sees are tactical plans, desperate fights for survival, and the face of defeat … behind a mask and a sword .... Like an old school horror film, it replays over and over and over …

A scream builds in her throat, the desire to yell and curse and blast anyone or thing close enough to her in this moment. She needs rest, dammit! If she’d only been a little faster, smarter, stronger on Thessia, they wouldn’t be in this situation. She cannot afford another mistake on that magnitude!

Biting back a half sob of frustration and anguish, she sits up and wraps her arms around her legs, dropping her forehead to rest on her knees. It’s too much. I can’t keep doing this. WHY WON’T YOU LET ME SLEEP???

The inner voices that often chide her during such times remain suspiciously silent this night. The replay of events on Thessia, however, do not.

Her chest aches, just the tiniest bloom near her heart, but it grows exponentially and spreads, its menacing tendrils burrowing deep. Her head starts to ache, beginning in her temples and slicing outward, searching for all of the most inconvenient and uncomfortable places …

This, however, she is prepared for. Without lifting her head, she extends her hand to the nightstand drawer and pulls it open. She fumbles a moment, eventually settling upon the small bottle of painkillers that the doctor provided weeks ago. The rattle from within assures her there are at least two left; it is enough. She pops them into her mouth and downs them without water. Enough is enough. Maybe this will help the other issue as well.

The bottle falls to the floor from nerveless fingers and she prays the relief comes quickly. It won’t last long, but if it can take the edge off, perhaps it will also allow her mind to be at ease and sneak stealthily past the images into unconsciousness …

Ten minutes past. Twenty. As the thirty minute mark comes and goes, a lone tear leaks from closed lids and trickles down her nose to drip silently into the sheets.

Opening her eyes, Shepard sits up, a sigh of frustration easing past her lips. She turns her attention to the tank, eyeing the creatures inside, desperately wishing for a way to escape reality for just five bloody minutes with no other care in the world. Just five damned minutes -- she isn’t greedy! -- to rest.

Rolling to her feet, she grabs the offensive towel out of spite; she could ignore it again but the risk of tripping in her current state outweighs any momentary rebelliousness. With a flick of her wrist, she tosses it in the direction of the sofa … and then groans when it falls behind it. Nothing, it seems, can be a win these days …

It's then she notices her last chance, her one saving grace. Lying on the coffee table and flipped onto its face is her music datapad. She crosses the room in three strides and grabs it as well as the earbuds and returns to bed. A simple touch of her finger to the pad starts the playback. Something soothing and gentle, she hopes. Something that will transition her failure into sleep so she can get proper sleep to deal with whatever the reapers or Cerberus throw at her next. You win some, you lose some, she recalls her father saying once so many years ago. With a sigh, she thinks, Yeah, Pop, but today we lost an important one … one that might just keep us from winning the whole thing ….

She desperately hopes she is wrong on that count.

Lying back, her eyes close and she sighs heavily as the first soft strains of piano filter in. It isn’t any song she is familiar with, but it has a nice sound to it … and then a deep, powerful, rich voice starts to croon. Resonate.

She bolts upright, eyes wide, breath tight in her chest. She knows that voice! This isn’t some professional recording, either – there’s a scratchiness in the background that suggests it was recorded over omni-tool. It also does nothing to hide the way the notes, so vibrant and compelling, meld with words that pull a deep and purely emotional response from within.

I can still taste you on my lips

I can still smell you on my sheets

I can still feel the way you tremble

When I hold you close to me

All thought of blissful peace in unconsciousness flees with the strength of a biotic flare. And she doesn’t care …

It's like everything about you

Is everything I need

Waking up without you

Is gonna be the death of me

I'm not so use to silence

I can't find you anywhere

The tears are automatic -- between lyrics and music, she cannot help it. With shaking hands, she lifts the datapad and searches for clues to its owner because it certainly is not hers.

Wearily, Kaidan exits the lift and enters the cabin as silently as he can. He’s aware, from EDI, that Shepard retreated here after speaking with the asari Councilor, Admiral Hackett, and following up with Liara. There is a pattern in her retreat, one he isn’t certain she’s aware of, but now is hardly the time to argue about it. Her constant state of go, go, go in the face of so much adversity without recharging is of concern to him. She is their pillar of strength at the forefront of this crusade, and she needs it as much if not more than any of the rest of them.

Still, she is who she is, and that isn’t worth arguing about either; thus the head start in the hopes she might take advantage of the opportunity and for once give in to her own needs. The fact that she’s here in her cabin suggests she may have.

He enters to darkness, the glow of the fish tank his only guide, but it’s more than enough, particularly for someone used to taking refuge in dark corners for torturous migraines. He maneuvers through the cabin with grace and skill and very little if any sound …

Until he realizes Shepard is sitting unnaturally upright in the middle of their bed. Starlight from the overhead window streams down over her; it’s more than enough to see she is shaken. Something about it, something he can’t put into words, leaves him uneasy. She turns toward him, their eyes meet, and he finds something hauntingly familiar there. “Shepard?”

“Kaidan ...”

Her voice is but a rough rasp of a whisper, but her eyes remain on his, on him. He swallows back wariness and descends the steps to sit on the edge of the bed. “Are you alright?” He is hesitant to reach out in case it startles her, and yet he cannot help himself. “Have a bad dream?” he asks as he laces his fingers with her free hand. “Is there something I can --”

She touches a datapad he didn’t see, and the air around them fills with sound.

“It's a lonely Sunday morning

Cuz you left me without warning

And I don't know how to make it through this lonely Sunday morning…”

The words and music are as familiar to him as breathing, but his eyes widen in shock as she sings along. “How did you …?”

She hands over what turns out to be his music pad. The one, he realizes, he never tucked back away in the drawer where he normally leaves it because they arrived early to Thessia and the situation there far more dire than anticipated ....

“Kaidan.”

Her voice cracks on his name and he winces at the pain in it. “Shepard, let me explain.”

She sets the pad aside and lifts her other hand to frame his cheek, turning his face toward her. “No need,” she whispers before leaning over to ghost a kiss across his lips. “I only have one question - why didn’t you tell me?”

He sighs – half in relief, half at the weight of having kept this from her for so long. “I …” He drops his gaze to their joined hands. “Losing you hurt,” he replies. It’s a simple excuse, too simple for what they’ve been through, but it’s the truth. “I needed a way to let that pain go.”

Against his cheek, he feels her hand tremble. “Do you … do you think … maybe you could teach me?”

“Hey.” He moves the pad out of the way and pulls her over onto his lap, wraps his arms around her, hums softly with the song. “Next time we’re on the Citadel?”

She nods, tucking her head against his shoulder. The song kicks into a repeat cycle, softly filling the air around them. “Sing for me?”

He presses a soft kiss to her forehead.

TITLE: Weakest Link

SUMMARY: It doesn’t take Cal very long to realize that he’s Triptych’s weakest link. Nia helps him with his confidence issues. WARNINGS: Bad self-image? Some swears. PAIRING: Platonic! Nia + Cal GENRE: Comfort? Friendship? WORD COUNT: 1.3k

Cal’s thumb dragged the video’s progress bar back to the start of his solo. He cringed as he watched, for the umpteenth time, as he struggled to find the camera and then fumbled a step behind everyone else in the choreography. During his killing part too.

Nia hadn’t been much of a comfort in his mistake. Once they watched the footage of their performance back, Yerin wasted no time in telling Cal that he had to be more careful. “Thankfully, you kept it professional,” Nia’s words replayed in his head, hours later. “But let’s try to not have any mess-ups like that again. It makes us look sloppy and under prepared.”

You kept it professional. The way she said it made Cal believe that there was some part of Nia that thought that Cal couldn’t be professional, like it was a blessing from God that Cal was able to keep it together during a slip up.

But she was right. Cal did struggle with being professional. He loved music and he loved to have fun. When you put the two together, Cal’s brain can’t handle it. That’s why he goofs off the most during practices, why he can’t seem to remember any of the choreography, and why he always has trouble directing his energy towards improving himself like everyone else does. He doesn’t have Van and Nia’s work ethic or Eli and Zim’s talent or Teo and Ura’s lyricism or Asa and Yen’s natural charisma. He was just Cal. And compared to the other eight members, he was the weakest link.

So that’s why he was staying at the company late every night this week. Promotions for Exhibit A, Triptych’s first EP as a full group, were just kicking off. They had a performance scheduled at Music Bank tomorrow. If Cal practiced until two, went to sleep by three, and then wake up by seven, he should feel decent and prepared.

Calvin closed out of the YouTube video and opened the camera app. Carefully placing the camera so it could capture his whole body, he pressed ‘record’ and walked to the center of the dance room. He took the routine for “LALALA” from the top until it reached his part. He tried to look at himself in the mirror with the causal smirk that Asa usually did, but his movements faltered and he lost confidence. His reflection looked like he was trying too hard. It was too forced and uncool.

“That was uncomfortable.” A voice said behind him. Calvin jumped, a high pitched shout emitting from his throat in surprise. In the doorway, Nia poked her head in, a small smile on her face.

“What are you still doing here?” Nia asked, glancing at the small silver watch on her wrist. “It’s nearly midnight. We have to be up early tomorrow.”

Cal wiped the sweat from his forehead. “I gotta practice. I don’t think my performance yesterday was good enough and I want to be better this time around.”

Nia sighed, the expression on her face looked as if she was internally debating something in her head. After thinking for a moment, Nia pushed herself off the door frame and joined Cal in the center of the practice room. “What are you working on?”

“Uh, my part, specifically.” Cal explained awkwardly. Even though he’s known Yerin since they were trainees, they have never been close. Actually, Calvin wasn’t even sure if they’ve properly hung out before, or have had an legitimate conversation that wasn’t about work.

“Right. Well, I can tell you based on all our practices together that you’ve got everything down technically, so rehearsing until the ass-crack of dawn isn’t going to help you.” Nia reported, crossing her arms. She gave him a look of apology. “Everyone fumbles up the steps from time to time. That’s normal. I don’t blame you for doing that. I just really wanted our first performance as nine to be flawless. I had really high expectations that-” “That I should have met.” Cal cut her off again. Nia’s eyebrow arched, clearly not pleased by the interruption. “I was going to say... I had really high expectations that I shouldn’t have had. I should have made the day more fun for everyone.” Nia finished. “You did great yesterday, Cal. Your biggest set back is your lack of confidence.” Calvin looked to the side at an unfixed spot. Having his leader tell him he needs to be more confident was like having someones boss tell them they need to get a shit-load of paperwork done before lunch. It seemed like an impossible request.

“Look,” Nia broke him free of his thoughts. She turned to face the mirror, and Cal did the same. “During your part, you do this, right?” Nia mimicked Cal’s dance. Calvin nodded, wondering where this was going.

“Yesterday, your facial expression was like this.” Nia gave an overly sly grin while doing the choreography. Cal couldn’t help but let a huff of amusement escape his lips. A small smile tugged at Yerin’s own mouth.

“See? I don’t look like myself, and neither did you!” Nia explains. “You were trying to be Asa-” “How’d you know?” Cal blinked in amazement, recalling how he just previously used Asa as a basis for his own gestures.

“Because only Asa can pull off looking like an absolute tool.” Nia grinned. “You, on the other hand, are the only person who can pull off being yourself.” Cal hesitated. “I really can’t tell if that’s a compliment or not...” “No, I mean...” Nia searched for the words. “I want you to play up to your charms. You may not think you have any because you’re not like any of the other guys, but trust me, Chunghee, you have charms that none of the others could ever have.”

Calvin bit his lower lip, thinking hard. What the hell were his charms?

“Here,” Yerin ran over to the sound system and fast forwarded the song until it was at Cal’s part. “Just tap in to your own, cool persona. Try not to be anyone else. Just you.”

Cal was sure that Nia’s vague words were meant to invoke some deep inner change in him, but he felt the same as before as he went through the motions of his segment in the song. Nia paused the music and placed a hand on her hip.

“Chunghee, don’t do that with your eyes. You don’t smolder very well. Try giving a playful smile that says like...” Yerin waved her hand around, trying to think up something that was on-brand for Calvin. “’Look at me, I’m up to no good’.”

“Is that what you think of me?” Calvin chuckled. “No comment.” Nia shook her head with a grin, rewinding the song again. “Just give it a shot.”

This time, Calvin took his leader’s advice. He gave himself a playful and knowing smile and a wink, surprising himself at how natural it looked. Yerin gave an ‘ooh’ of approval, clapping her hands together.

“See? That was not only cool, but it makes you stand out! Wonderful work!” Nia approved. Then, in one swift movement, the leader unplugged the stereo system and grabbed Calvin’s bag from off the floor. “Hey-” Calvin started to protest. “Zip it. We’re going back to the dorms. You’re completely useless and grumpy when you’re sleep-deprived and we have a long day tomorrow.” Nia said strictly, her stubborn and cold leader persona coming back just as quickly as it disappeared.

Cal bit back a chuckle as he followed Nia out of the practice room. “Is that why you came in and helped me? Because you don’t want to deal with me tomorrow morning?” He asked, feigning offense. Nia glanced over her shoulder at the younger member, a ghost of a grin on her face. “Again, no comment.”

The Equinox Gateway reaches peak momentum at 0 degree Libra on September 22nd. Not only does the Equinox launch the month of Libra, it starts a new season. Libra is the sign of justice, symbolized by balancing scales, emphasizing more harmony and balanced polarities.

It is a day out of time…when day and night are equal length. It is a sacred moment when all stand equal in the balance of opposites. While the Equinox Gateway is open we will focus on balancing opposing forces within our being and in our world reality.

The Equinox occurs the moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator, equal distance between north and south poles. It is the balance point between light and dark. While we pass through these heightened threshold moments, you may feel super-sensitive to the charged energies involved. The seams between dimensions stretch and open, allowing more access to the higher realms.

During 2020 there is a sense of restructuring occurring on all levels of life. Since the March Equinox, there has been massive decomposition of past timelines, outdated ancestral codes and patterns, and traumatic beliefs/emotions. 2020 is the year to deconstruct all toxic operating systems that no longer sustain the greater good.

As we begin to restructure our inner and outer lives, there rises a surge to regain balance. The Tao symbol exemplifies the holistic union of yin/yang, the swirling interaction of equal forces. We have been living in a left brain-dominated society, driven by intellect, aggression and ambition. During the 2000’s we will see more right brain-feminine qualities develop in society.

Our hearts are expanding to receive infinite love. We are restructuring at the molecular level to embody divine Soul presence.

The Tao symbol represents the holistic balance of yin/yang…the swirling blend of masculine and feminine in a dance of Oneness. The human race is rapidly evolving into crystalline beings of wholeness. Twelfth Night Original Public Works Cast Recording Review!

I wanted to review this musical as soon as I heard about it. Twelfth Night was long overdue for a musical adaptation!

Let me start off by saying that I am reviewing the SONGS of this musical that you can find on Spotify. I have not seen any of the stage performances. I also want to say that this is a review open to conversation and differing opinions!

I wanted review this musical because, first and foremost, Twelfth Night is my favorite Shakespeare play. I also have studied Shakespeare, performed in a few of his plays, and have done multiple Shakespeare scenes and monologues, so I wanted to look at the show from not only the perspective of how it stands as a musical, but as an adaptation.

I will be going song by song in this review, starting under the cut.

PLAY ON - To be honest, this song set me off on the wrong foot. It is an absolute bop, do NOT get me wrong, but I was conflicted on how they twisted the opening line of the play into this. “If music be the food of love, play on” is a line that like many Shakespeare lines (such as “though she be but little, she is fierce” or “to thine own self be true”) is taken out of context and embellished. This line is supposed to be making fun of Orsino being all dramatic, and make fun of romanticism in general, but the number seems to embrace them, missing the point. Maybe it’s staged to touch a bit on the making fun, just not in the song. Perfect for a musical, and a great way to start an awesome show, but made me ehh in terms of adaptation.

WORD ON THE STREET - Not a long number, so I don’t have much to say besides it’s funny and catchy. Fits well in both musical and adaptation terms.

TELL HER - Hooooo boy I loved this number. This is what I personally wanted in terms of Orsino being a grade A idiot when it comes to his surroundings. Great play on words, and a super sweet song to introduce the main couple of the show.

IF YOU WERE MY BELOVED - This song was great and cute, once again. I loved it as an introduction to our second pair, and to Olivia. The one thing I can’t help but nitpick at, though, is the lack of chemistry between the two characters in the song. People seem to omit this a lot in adaptations of the play, but Viola doesn’t just charm Olivia by being romantic; Viola is forward and doesn’t take Olivia’s crap. She calls Olivia proud to her face, and she doesn’t fall to Olivia’s feet like other men, and Olivia finds that hot! They have banter, and they get along; it’s not just Viola talking to Orsino in her head while Olivia swoons. Maybe a bit of that is seen in the scripted part of the musical or the staging, but I found this lacking in the song, and it’s one of my favorite parts of a relationship that often goes overlooked for a more basic romance trope.

IF YOU WERE MY BELOVED (REPRISE) - I am crying. An adaptation where Antonio is canonically in love with Sebastian? Perfection. God bless. A masterful use of a reprise, too. I am a SUCKER for reprises that parallel relationships.

VIOLA’S SOLILOQUY - I loved this song?? So much. The added context of Sebastian and Viola’s relationships was nicely done. I love seeing Sebastian mentioned more by her. Also the tune is bopping. I must say, however, although I LOVE seeing Viola talking about her new life and her fears as a woman in disguise, I don’t like how it omits most of the context the original “I am the man” monologue has. Omission of stuff like her sympathy for Olivia makes me ehh, but still a wonderful song.

YOU’RE THE WORST - I loved this song oh my lord. The first I’m hearing of Malvolio and he is just... amazing. Toby and Maria and Feste are great too. Only thing that puts me off is the treatment of Andrew, because although I do consider him apart of this little group, I don’t know if Toby would be all friendly with Andrew. I have usually seen Toby interpreted so that he overall makes fun of Andrew in a less goodnatured way than his banter with Maria or Feste, and even if he doesn’t hate Andrew, he does use him and think he’s stupid. I don’t hate the idea of Andrew being more apart of the group than a tool, but it does take away from Toby’s meanness.

IS THIS NOT LOVE - A beautiful love ballad, and it had my favorite Orsino/Viola interaction + Viola monologue it!!!!!!! Oh my god I’m crying god bless god bless I’m going to be replaying this song later I know it. Plus the overlap of the fool’s song with this romance scene that’s good adaptation RIGHT THERE yeah babey!!!!

COUNT MALVOLIO - I’m weeping. I’m so glad they’re doing Malvolio like this. He was made for a musical adaptation, in my opinion. This number is amazing and perfect in my eyes.

I AM SHE - Amazing. This is exactly the Olivia and Viola I wanted, and it DELIVERS. Olivia is great and hilarious, and Viola too. Just *chef kiss* mwah.

WORD ON THE STREET II - Appreciate the revisiting of this song as the show progresses. Still very funny and catchy.

COUNT MALVOLIO (REPRISE) - A short song, so I don’t have anything to say.

WHAT KIND OF MAN RU GONNA BE? - Very good usage of the fact Viola is NOT a man. HILARIOUS and an absolute bop. Toby is too much. Viola and Andrew singing together is giving me chills and I love it.

VIOLA’S SOLILOQUY (REPRISE) - A short song, so I don’t have much to say. Love that Viola thinks a lot more about Sebastian in this musical. I love the twins.

GREATNESS - I’m wheezing that the beginning. I love the usage of “some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em”. I love that they make Malvolio sympathetic at first but then he gets annoying again. Honestly, they just hit Malvolio on the nose in this musical. A real highlight.

SEBASTIAN’S SOLILOQUY - The parallel of Viola looking up to her brother and Sebastian looking up to his sister!! Nice.

WORD ON THE STREET III - A short song, so I don’t have anything to say but that it’s still very funny each time.

VIOLA’S SOLILOQUY (2ND REPRISE) - Another short song, sweet and pretty.

TELL HER (REPRISE) - PERFECT USE OF A REPRISE. Very good. And Viola proposes ahhh perfect.

I AM SHE (REPRISE) - Another short song, and I like it but can’t help feeling sad Antonio canonically loves Sebastian but Sebastian still ends up with Olivia. Woof. Also nice Olivia and Viola sister relationship.

MALVOLIO'S EXIT - Amazing. Once again.

IS THIS NOT LOVE (REPRISE) - I have no clue which character is singing this song because I saw no “Vivian” listed in any of the other songs?? So I don’t know if maybe it was necessary for this character to sing this, but this came off as an unnecessary reprise.

EYES OF ANOTHER - A nice, catchy closing song.

Overall, I would heavily suggest you listen to this musical if you’re a fan of the original play. There are some issues I have with the adaptation choices, but it doesn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the recording.

TDLR; I loved it! A feel good musical.

Back@It, Again

22 April 2019

Today started out rocky but turned into a great day. I woke up feeling down and out of sorts. I was, once again, thinking about my tribe where they were and why I didn’t have them. My mind was replaying tapes about how it thought that some people was treating me and on and on it went most of the morning and into the afternoon. I couldn’t shake it and I started feeling even worse. I made a smoothie for breakfast after sitting in my living room thinking, thinking, thinking. I sat down at my keyboard in my living room and played my song, The Love Song (because playing music sometimes helps to lift my spirit, but, I think that I has allowed my thoughts to consume and overwhelm me too long) and recorded it and then recorded playing it and singing it. My voice was going in and out, so I’ll have to re-record that part of it. I, also, picked up my guitar for a few minutes and played it.

After a while, I decided to get up and get ready to go for a walk in Anacostia Park. Once there, walking, I started walking the opposite direction that I usually walk. After a few minutes of walking, Abba began to talk with me about….becoming. He talked to me about me and I learned that I still had expectations of people and I had to release those expectations as well as the people once again. We spent around an hour and 16 minutes walking and talking, well, He was doing most of the talking and I was doing most of the listening as He began to show me the ways that I still had expectations of other people and how those expectations were not right. This past weekend, I learned a tool to use to help me when the enemy, be it satan or my soul, attacks me; but at the time that I got, I really didn’t understand how to use it. Well, today, I got a little better handle on the how part. It’s something that I have to say out loud and not just in my mind for it helps me to hear me declare it….”I will not be convinced by the enemy’s lies.” This is just the beginning of the “I will not be” declarations and there are also some “I will be” declarations as well. Another tool that Abba gave me is this: when I become aware of the attack on my mind, I should begin to sing a song in my mind. Today, I sang these words, “I love you Lord and I lift my voice to worship you, oh my soul rejoice. Take joy my King in what you hear, let it be a sweet, sweet sound in your ear.” Then I went into, “I surrender all, I surrender all. All to you my blessed Savior, I surrender all.

After a while, I began to feel a little better. So, we walked some more and talked some more for a little over 4 miles. At the end of the 4 miles, I was feeling like myself, again. I stretched, got in my truck, drank some water and came home. Once home, I finished drinking my water ate a pear and sat down and relaxed for a bit. Around 7:00, I made my dinner and had what I had last night minus the spinach and mixed greens. I was still good. I watched a couple of shows on YouTube, then around 9:00 I turned the TV on and watched The Code and at 10:00 I watched Bull. I watched a little bit of the 11:00 News then came into my music room to blog.

Since I didn’t go grocery shopping today, I’m planning to go tomorrow after I get some gas. I’m going to take my trash out and start back straightening up, as well. I’m also planning to go back to Anacostia Park and walk.

Tues. 07-19-22

Self/Divine Nature: I paired colors of clothing I thought went well together. I had to be a little creative as I don't have many things that go together, but it was such a fun exercise of the mind for me. It reminded me of my Grandmother. She was my example of beautification and expression. My mother was uninterested in fashion which is funny. Grandmother made so many wonderful pieces of art for us and herself to wear. I wish I could have that talent and knack for creation. She could make anything from scratch. She had so many ideas that ran through her constantly to create. I could very much say that she's my favorite fashion icon.

God: I've decided to read and record myself reading the Book of Mormon in my language out loud every day. Then I'll replay it and listen follow along in English. I understand the language more than I speak it, so this would be a good practice to speak my native tongue. Listening back I'm able to correct in my head pronunciations for words I am familiar with.

Home Life: Laundry/Trash/I was able to do more than usual today and I'm grateful. Chronic fatigue can slow you down. It has definitely done that for me when I'm naturally a busy body. Showing down has been a blessing for me.

Psychology: Thankfully coming across Jordan Peterson's lectures has really opened my eyes to the depths of where Psychology can take you if you properly apply the science and logic of sound measure. Measure matters the most during your investigative analysis. Understanding your subject is reliant on the measures and the validity of the tools you utilize. The law is order and the principle is the subject. Similarly to God's order our doctrine is truth we are the principles of the laws we follow. The logic is The intellect and the principle is of the heart. You can't have one without the other. If the principle or virtue is lacking the laws you follow have to be questioned. The glory of God is Intelligence. Intelligence is light and truth. The science and logic matters in Psychology. Becoming adept in accruing the knowledge to spot improper measuring tools instinctively are a necessary practice when you take on the subject.

Falcon of Detroit (DBH Connor Fanfiction) Chapter Five

~Phoebe’s POV~

"Finally!" I yell, flopping down on the couch. I hug a pillow close and bury my face in the soft and plush fabric. A sigh of relief escaped my lips as I sprawled all my limbs across the sofa.

Connor sat my purse down on the coffee table and eyed me with the tilt of his head. "You were only in the hospital for a day, Phoebe."

"Yeah, but I hate hospitals! The food is bland and there's nothing to do. You barely get to sleep because nurses are always coming in every two hours to take your blood pressure. You've no idea how exhausted I am right now." From Connor's expression, I could tell he scanned me. I pointed scoldingly at him before he could open his mouth. "Don't you dare, Connor. I know exactly what you're gonna say and it'll be a smartass comment, whether you know what that term means or not."

He sealed his lips and sat on the other sofa as I was hogging the entire one I way laying on. I curled up in a ball, hugging one of the pillows to my chest and resting my chin on it. Creating space, I patted the cushion next to me and Connor moved seats. I placed the pillow in my lap, gingery pulling on the edges of the fabric. "So, you're my caretaker. I've been shot on the job before, but this is the first time I've needed someone to take care of me. Are you sure you want to do this?"

"Lieutenant Anderson has demanded I take care of you," he responds.

I roll my eyes before grabbing Connor's hand gently. "Forget about Hank for a minute. Is this what you want to do?"

Connor's chocolate gaze locked with my azure one. I saw something flicker in his eyes, but I wasn't sure what it was. "It doesn't matter what I want, Phoebe."

"Bullshit. I don't care that you're a machine. You can be selfish and speak your mind. Screw the damn orders and your mission for just a few minutes. What do you want? What does Connor want? That's what I love about deviants."

"You care for deviants?" Connor questioned.

"I do and I also admire them. They're your people, Connor. They've developed emotions and free-will. They are becoming human and it's marvelous. I'm tired of people using them as objects. It's about time your people deserve equal rights. Now, tell me what you want."

The same flicker I saw a few seconds ago reappeared in the android's eyes. "I... want to stay and help you, Phoebe."

I smiled at his response and smacked him lightly with the pillow. "There's the selfishness I was looking for. Maybe you're secretly a deviant deep down."

At my words, Connor placed a hand over his metallic heart. He then moved his eyes back to mine. The silence between us wasn't awkward. It was peaceful and relaxing. Standing up, I toss the pillow on the couch and groan in discomfort as I went to stand. I didn't even make it off the sofa before Connor grabbed my arm and forced me to sit back down. "Whatever you need, I will fetch it for you."

"Connor, I think I can make a cup of hot chocolate on my own."

I tried getting up again, but Connor refused to let me put anymore weight on my leg. "I will make it for you. This is another selfish action."

Without another word, the android headed into the kitchen and prepared me a cup of hot chocolate. "Well, it seems my advice has quickly come back and bitten me on the ass in less than a minute. I call that a new record."

Connor returned from the kitchen with a steaming cup of cocoa. I thanked the android as he sat the hot cup down on the coffee table before sitting next to me. When a suffocating silence filled the space between us, I got up and dodged Connor's outstretched hand that tried to grab me. "I'm just gonna grab a movie. I'll be fine for a few seconds, Connor."

His fingers flexed out before curling back into his palm. He watched me intently as I grabbed Batman Begins. I bit my lip to keep the smirk off my face as I returned and popped the movie into the DVD player. I sat on the couch and propped up my bandaged thigh with a pillow, turning on the television in the process. Connor eyed the menu once the previews were finally over. He tilted his head at the title of the movie and remembered what I said two days ago in the station. "This is the 'Batman' you spoke of?"

"Yep! This is just one of my favorite superheroes. You probably won't enjoy this as much as me, but at least you will have finally been blessed with the almighty, beautiful Bruce Wayne! See, if I worked at CyberLife, all androids would be blessed with all movie knowledge! Then again, that would be the reason they'd fire me." I started the movie and peered from the corner of my eye to watch Connor.

During the first ten minutes of the film, I observed Connor closely. His chocolate eyes were glued to the screen and he couldn't tear them away for even a second. I leaned back, a victorious grin plastered to my face. When we were introduced to Scarecrow, Connor tilted his head.

I held back my laughter as I've never seen someone so concentrated on a movie before, let alone an android. Biting my lip wasn't helping so I resulted to nibbling on my thumbnail. Halfway through the movie, I fell asleep while hugging a pillow. I hadn't realized how exhausted I truly was from my hospital stay until I got comfortable.

"Phoebe," Connor called out my name softly, shaking my shoulder.

Opening my eyes, I saw the credits on the screen. "Ugh, guess I'm more tired than I thought." Shaking away the slumber, I peered into the android's brown eyes. "So, did you enjoy the movie?"

"It was quite interesting. I do have questions, though," he answers honestly.

"Ask away, buddy."

An hour passes by the time I finish answering all of Connor's questions. During the entire time, I was in awe at how absorbed he became in the movie while I was sleeping. I never knew androids could enjoy movies like humans, let alone have tons of questions by the end.

Checking the time, I saw it was only noon. I took a sip of my hot chocolate, noting how cold the beverage had become. Not caring, I downed the entire cup and licked the chocolate off my lips. From the corner of my eye, I saw Connor's LED change to yellow. The android's eyes widened and I knew he just received a new case. Sitting the empty cup down, I tug on his sleeve to grab his attention. "Go, Connor. I'll be fine by myself for awhile. Fill me in on the details once you return."

Connor nods and takes my hand in his. "Do be cautious of your injury while I'm gone, Phoebe."

I placed my free hand over my heart and nodded. "I promise. I'll probably end up asleep again after you leave."

"That would be for the best. I will notify you of the details when I return."

Before his hand slid out of mine, I squeezed it tightly. "Be careful, Connor. Even though CyberLife can upload your memories to another prototype, I still want you to be safe and come back in the same body that you walked out of the door with. Also, if Hank needs an earful, do not hesitate to call me. I'll chew his ear off if I find out he did something to you while I was gone."

Connor smiled and squeezed my hand in return. "I will be fine, Phoebe. Rest while I'm gone."

"Gotcha covered on that, sweetheart. I don't want to keep you any longer. Go do what you do best, Detective."

His smile widened as he left. Once the door was shut, I glanced down at the hand Connor was holding only minutes ago. "Don't tell me... Nah. There's no way Connor could become deviant. I'm sure CyberLife programmed him to prevent malfunctions in his system. He is their biggest asset, after all."

Reclining back, I stare up at the ceiling. Deep in thought, I reminisced in the details we had so far in the Amadeus case. Trying to connect the puzzle pieces caused a headache. I sighed in annoyance and returned to reality. "Whatever. I'll deal with the case when I'm able to return to work in a few days. For now, let's goof off!"

-Seven P.M.-

Connor returned with a grave look on his face. His usual stoic expression was replaced with the dreadful look, which caused questions to brew in my mind. He joined me at the kitchen table as I had just made a bowl of soup for dinner. "What happened?"

"Four victims were found in an abandoned warehouse near the docks. A woman was starved to death while another was pierced through the heart with an authentic claymore that was reported stolen from a museum only a few days ago. One male victim was quarantined when traces of yellow fever were the cause of his death."

"That's not a disease common here. Anyways, what about the last victim?" I ask.

"A clean cut delivered to his throat with a blade."

I stared down at the soup as I replayed Connor's words in my head. My eyes widen when I was able to make a connection. Forgetting about my thigh, I jump to my feet and run to my bedroom. "Phoebe!" Connor shouted my name. Ignoring him, I scan the bookshelf and pull out the fictional tale of the four horsemen.

I plopped down on my bed the moment Connor entered my room. "The deaths are all connected to the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Famine—the woman who died of starvation. War—the woman who was stabbed with the claymore. Death—the man who had his throat sliced open. And finally, Pestilence—the man who contracted yellow fever. Not sure how he did, but I seriously doubt the forensic team would lie about such a thing." I showed him the picture that was in the front of the book.

Connor contacted Hank and told the older man to make his way to my house as quick as possible. Fifteen minutes later, Hank walks through the door with the spare key I had given him. "What's this all about?"

"I found a connection to the four victims," I said, showing him the picture of the four horsemen.

"What's with the fucking creepy picture, eh?"

"The four horsemen of the apocalypse. The victims were murdered in ways that represented each soulless man in this picture."

"And how is that a connection?" Hank questioned.

"Because our suspect won't kill again until they get their hands on the necessary tools to kill their next four victims. But, it could be possible one suspect is actually four. It could be a group of killers. It would be difficult for a single person to get their hands on mosquitoes that carry yellow fever."

"Hold up. You think our suspect or suspects have a jar of mosquitoes that carry yellow fever?"

"Just a theory on how the victim contracted the disease without traveling out of the country in recent months," I shrug nonchalantly. "Suspects will do insane things to get what they want. Illegal smuggling is one of those things."

"This sounds so fucking outlandish. You sure it's not the exhaustion talkin', Phee?"

"I'm positive, Hank! Since when have my deductions been wrong?"

"..."

"Exactly! Never! I'm on a roll and no one can stop me!" I grin.

"Fine. Let's say your 'four horsemen' theory is correct. What now?"

"Now, we figure out if these bastards are working for Amadeus. I have a feeling they do." I slam the book shut and toss it on the couch.

"Another feeling, huh?" Hank chuckled.

"Wanna know how I got the feeling?" I raise a brow with a smirk.

"No, I really don't."

"Oh, well! I'm gonna tell you, anyways!"

TGIWednesday: My brother and March 28th

TGIWednesday News

My brother was funny, smart, gorgeous even and looked like Tom Cruise, only taller. He wore cowboy boots and women clung to him wherever he went. Our Mom, Great Granny Ruth was a Capricorn born on Christmas Day, while my brother was Capricorn too born on New Years Day. My father was a Leo and I am a Leo so plates being thrown during dinner was not uncommon. March 28th was the date of Kevin’s passing and I’ll never forget the police showing up at our door to notify us. You never really get over the death of a sibling or someone you’re close to, you just learn to deal with it over time. Drugs and alcohol were his undoing so working with addiction clients and even recording an Addiction audio MP3 are near and dear to my heart. I’ve even worked with Ken Seeley who has the TV show Intervention. Any way that I can give back and help others, I do so. There is no coming back from some of our life choices so I am reminded to choose wisely and do the best I can for myself and for others and, in the memory of Kevin, I will remember to “be entertained and have fun” which could have been his life’s motto! I also catch glimpses of my brother in my youngest son Hunter and it makes me smile. Now when I see Tom Cruise movies I am reminded of my brother and what might have been, but I’m also reminded that what we should reminisce over is the good times. Wrestling with life decisions?
