So Nimona is like The Princess Mononoke if San was the Spirit of the Forest and the Emperor was the Lady of Iron Town Lady and if Ashitaka was San's father figure instead of her love interest and if he was in love with Lady Iron Town's body guard dude.
Is that about right?
#To be clear I loved the Nimona movie im not detracting from it or anything#i just really like parralles#and also they were way less simpathetic to “society” in Nimona amd very much more simpathetic to “nature” or “chaos” as the case may be#it was very interesting#im reading way too much into a childrens movie#but they set it in a high fantasy enviroment wich is naturally rife with symbolism so they vrought this upon themselves#nimona#ballister boldheart#ambrosius goldenloin#the director#the princess mononoke#princess mononoke#ashitaka#lady eboshi#San#studio ghibli#hayao miyazaki

It's like.
It's like yes. Yes, harm has been done. No, we can't undo it. We can't unkill the forest spirit. But we can minimize the fallout. We can try to stop making it worse. We can find a way forward. It won't ever be the same, but you can't just give up. You have to keep trying because you're still alive and you can make it less bad.
And it just.
It just makes me want to cry.
But like, in a cathartic way.
