#the prince my emperor (hakuryuu)

Note
first, the prince notices a pair of al-thamen men hurrying across the palace, looking panicked despite the lack of facial expression he can see. that hakuryuu shrugs off, only when he catches a glimpse of the black magi snickering where he sits dose the prince frown, knowing the man is up to something again. whatever it was, he wants nothing to do with it — still hakuryuu steps closer, speaking to judar for the first time probably this week. ❛❛ can’t you cause chaos away from my room ? ❜❜
"No", he replied with a sneer. Eyes lowering, purple eyelids frame the malicious expression, irises devoid of light.
"Unless you become one of my chosen, eh? C'mmon, Hakuryuu, you're behind your siblings." Judar spreads his arms, showing him an invisible crowd surrounding them.
"You know you want to, I'm your best choice." He smiles, that fake smile the prince probably despised. The veiled priests walk away, the fallen magi was playing his part, as he always did.
And only then Judar, takes a step closer, enough to whisper into his ear, shoulder against shoulder, Hakuryuu could feel the words roll down his lips. The eerily happy act is over, even his voice sounds different, darker, more adult.

Me making ship children again! Featuring the AlaKou and AliMor ships.
I've read fics were Sinbad returned. I honestly didn't quite get the ending. But I think it'll be funny if Sinbad returns and there's the crown prince of Kou and Alibaba's kid calling him "Grandfather" right off the bat. Lol.
And like, he kinda gets why Alibaba's kid is all chill with him considering the whole "I'll treat you as if you were my son" thing he said to Alibaba, but the child of Kougyoku? Yeah, he still doesn't believe the "I forgive you and thanks for the peaceful world" thing Kougyoku said. Even then, he doubts Kougyoku's brothers will let their nephew near him.
While the little Kou prince carries himself around the way Kougyoku does, there is something about his verbal tics that is NOT of Kou at all. (Finding out that Aladdin is the child's father gave him the same shock as finding out that Alibaba is alive.)
Alibaba's child on the other hand is like Morgiana; silent and strict, except when she becomes comfortable enough the sunny personality of her father comes through. It's a total personality flip.
I'm honestly just bored and currently looking around the AlaKou stuff. I think the big family of Ren will be happy to have a tiny addition. XD
So additional thoughts:
Kouha spoils him rotten, he has assigned caretakers but Kouha steals him from them.
Koumei is his teacher. He generally sticks to facts but throws in his opinion from time to time. No way he'll allow his nephew think Kouen was inferior to Sinbad!
Hakuryuu is his teacher in swordsplay. Hakuryuu thinks he's not the best option considering his own weapon of choice being a spear but Kougyoku assures him that he's doing well.
Hakuei teaches him how to properly conduct himself in front of others. Unfortunately, with Aladdin, Judal and Kouha's influences, it's been hard.
Judal is just a big brother figure (he's supposed to be his magic teacher but he doesn't wanna). Sometimes he takes the kid to town and gives the entire palace (especially Ka Koubun) a heart attack for an entire day. (Aladdin is always there to assure Kougyoku of what really happened. Kougyoku will give Judal a scolding later but it doesn't really affect the former Magi)
Kouen is where the young prince will run off to if he doesn't want to do anything. No training, no studying, Nada. And Kouen generally lets him. The former emperor will talk about the history of the world while the prince sits on his lap listening intently, being educated without knowing that he is.
With Kougyoku being the empress and Aladdin helping the people adjust in the new world, both parents aren't always readily available but it's fine. Their family will cover for them. The little prince understands. They will always spare time from their busy schedules to accommodate their child. They make sure that for every festival, they are both present, every special occasion, every country visitations, everytime the Saluja family visits or asks them to visit, the family of Kougyoku, Aladdin and their kid will be together.
Aladdin sometimes takes his child with him on his adventures, during this time he teaches him magic, shows him the world outside Kou while helping people and the like. With his teleportation magic, he "kidnaps" Kougyoku so that they can have a humble family dinner (and maybe even go out as a family later in the day). As long as no one finds out the empress is not in her chambers everything will be fine. The Ren family as well as Aladdin's friends will make sure no one discovers.

.      .      .       .      .     .
On a beautiful morning such as the one he woke to, he would like to think that it would remain beautiful. Grow into a peaceful day; the sunlight peaking just above the horizon, pale golden light shining through the windows, the soft melody of bird's song, as well as the privilege of waking up next to two of the people who he loved most in the world, it was sure to be a good day.
Or so he had hoped.
A loud crash followed by a whine and the loud exclamation of "Shit!"  had startled the prince from his tired stupor as he jolts up and, mismatched blue eyes wide and alert. He rubs them, trying to wipe the sleep out of them before looking around his room.
Frowning when he realized that the spaces next to him on the bed were unoccupied—confusing, as he was usually the one who woke up first to start the day— he rose from the bed and went to prepare himself for the day.
It didn't take him long to freshen up and get dressed, but the sound of yet another crash had him rushing out the room, down the stairs to the sound of the commotion, leading him into the kitchen where he was greeted by quite the catastrophe.
Flour covered up nearly the entirety of the kitchen, coating the floor in the white powder from top to bottom, unwashed dishes filled up the sink, a strange yellow liquid (which he hoped to Gods was oil and not what he feared it was) spilled out across the counter, and so much more that he could list,  creating a huge mess that only he would be stuck cleaning.
But of course in the midst of the disastrous sight, were his two lovely partners— [Name], who was also covered in flour and who was knelt down, appearing to be sweeping something up, and Judar, who wore a messy apron with the words 'kiss the cook'—arguing loudly over something he couldn't even care to pay mind to.
Some things never change.
"How the fuck do you burn water, [Name]? Fucking water?"
"Well, I could've done the recipe correctly if you hadn't have thrown the book away, you stupid fucking magi!"
"You're so fucking—"
"Language!" Two heads snap in his direction as Hakuryuu's voice cuts in the argument sharply, giving his lovers a seething glare as he makes a small nodding gesture towards the small, dark-haired child who sat on the floor in the far corner of the kitchen, toys scattered and forgotten as he watched the scene in front of him with wide, innocent eyes.
Taking note of the boy is enough to get the two to quiet down, as they drop what they're doing and turn to face him fully, guilty looks on their faces. (Well, at least [Name] looked guilty, as opposed to Judar, who stood there with a scowl painted across his handsome face.)
"Now what on Earth is going on in here?"  The former emperor of Kou placed his hands on his hips— something he only did when he knew they had caused trouble— and started expectantly, silently demanding an explanation for the state of the kitchen.
Judar, being Judar,  met his stern gaze with a childish pout and crossed his arms, looking away like a child who had been caught sticking his hand in the cookie jar.
"Well, don't get mad at me," he grumbled and gestured towards [Name], who stood looking at Hakuryuu with a nervous grin spread across her lovely face. "It's her fault."
"Me?" The grin dropped from her lips and a look of fury washed over her face. "Don't try to pin this all on me! You're the one who can't follow simple directions and decided to throw the book out the window!"
"Only because you kept trying to force it down my damn throat! Who gives a shit about some stupid book!" The black-haired defended himself, a haughty look appearing on his face. "I'm a fucking magi, baby, I don't need no damn directions."
"Oh yeah? Wellbeing a 'fucking magi' doesn't seem to stop you from making stupid-ass decisions, now does it?" She snaps, "Too bad having all that hair doesn't make up for a lack of  brain!"
"Hey, watch it you fucki—"
"Enough!"  The tone Hakuryuu's voice takes as he raises the volume of it is enough to get the two arguing 'adults' to fall silent once more.
Stepping further into the kitchen, Hakuryuu is cautious and carefully steps over broken glass as he makes his way towards the counter, lifting the spilled bottle of oil. "One, I didn't ask whose fault it was, I simply asked what happened. And two, please refrain from using such language in front of our child."
"Really?" Judar huffs, raising a firm eyebrow. "Look who's talking! Don't act like you yourself don't use 'such language',  Hakuryuu."  He ends his sentence with a suggestive smirk.
A trickle of pink brushes across pale cheeks, the scarred male turning to face the magi with a deep scowl on his flustered face. "That is a completely different situation, Judar! It's different when it's just the three of us, but not in front of Hakuro!"
"Yeah, yeah," Judar gave a lazy wave as his eyes flickered over to the small boy, who had once again become preoccupied with his toys. "It's not that big of a deal. Besides, he's only a brat. It's not like he understands what those words mean anyways."
"He's three, Judar. Children that age are quite impressionable."
"You know, sometimes I forget that I'm  supposed to be the mother, and you the father." [Name] gives a light giggle and places a kiss on Hakuryuu's pink cheek.
"Shut up!"
.  .   .   .   .   .
True to what he had predicted, after salvaging what was left of his lovers' poor attempt at making breakfast—though, he was truly touched that they had at least tried to do it—and turning it into a delicious masterpiece as he always did, Hakuryuu had found himself stuck in the remnants of the mess they had made. As he always was.
[Name] had been the first to excuse herself from cleaning duties this time, claiming that the "stress" of doing so much 'hard work' had made her rather tired and she 'deserved' to rest since she would be dealing with a child soon—and apparently she wasn't talking about Hakuro. But before he could question her anymore on that matter, she had rushed off into their bedroom for a 'quick' nap. But of course, by quick, she meant a couple of hours.
That left Judar.
And after a long moment of silent stare-off, looking into the beautiful red eyes that belonged to his magi, his resolve unshaken, gaze piercing,  all it took was a simple, wily upturn of Judar's plump lips before he broke. Sighing, he simply dismissed the magi away, of whom had let out an evil cackle before quickly flying out the window and towards his favorite peach tree, which stood in the forest a mile or two from their home.
Truthfully, he hadn't expected any different from Judar.
"Well then," After turning off the faucet to the sink, Hakuryuu turned and walked towards his son who still sat in his chair, playing with a stuffed dragon. "Let's get you cleaned up and put down for a nap with mama, hm?"
"No!" Large, [e/c] eyes stared defiantly into the surprised blue of his father's. "Roro no want to nap! Roro want to help Baba!"
"Help me?" Hakuryuu's surprised expression morphed into that of a gentle smile, his heart growing warm at Hakuro's declaration. "You wish to help Baba clean?"
"Yeah!"
"Very well," Hakuryuu lifts his son into his arms and walks over to the counter where he places him to sit before rolling up the sleeves of his hanfu. "Let's get started, shall we?"
.  .   .    .   .   .
About an hour had gone by, and the combined effort of father and son had the kitchen near spotless, not a trace of the mess the earlier disaster had left. Admittedly, it was a tad bit more tiring for the former emperor, having to put extra effort into aiding Hakuro with cleaning;  though the boy's enthusiasm and determination, bless his sweet little heart, to aid him in his task truly touched his heart to the point where he was nearly reduced to tears when his son had looked up at him with his large eyes and innocent smile, asking him if he did a good job.
Truly, his child was a godsend. Just what had a man like him, whose hands were so stained with sin and blood, done to deserve such a sweet child like Hakuro? He must have done something right.
A sudden crash, the sound of glass shattering had interrupted his thoughts. Then—
"Fuck!"
Hakuryuu's entire world came crashing down.
Eyes widened like saucers and mouth falling open in disbelief, Hakuryuu's turn towards his son is slow as he stares in shock at the small boy, who stood glaring at the plate he had tried to dry, now shattered into pieces on the floor.
"What—" He sure hoped he had heard incorrectly, his ears were deceiving him. Clearly, the three-year-old had not just said what he thinks he just said. "Excuse me?"
Hakuro's [e/c]- colored gaze met his. "What the matter, Baba?"
"Hakuro," Kneeling down to where he was at his son's height, Hakuryuu placed his hands on his shoulder. "What did you just say?"
"What did Roro say?" Dark locks fall over his eyes as he tilted his head, a look of confusion on his face. "Oh, Roro say Fuck!"
Hakuryuu blanched.
No. Nonononoonono—his worst fear had come true. His sweet son, the light of his life, had been corrupted! His innocence tainted, mind now ruined with the impurity of such dirty words. And it was all his fault! He had failed as a father.
Fighting back tears that threatened to form in his eyes, Hakuryuu's grip on the boy's shoulder tightens. "Hakuro, listen to me, you mustn't say that!"
"Say what?"
"Th-That word!"
"What word, Baba?"
"That word you just said!"
Silence. "...Fuck?" Hakuro blinks innocently, not understanding the reason behind his father's distress.
"Yes, that—no, stop saying that!"  Hakuryuu was close to pulling his hair out.
"But why?"
"Because..." His mind was in shambles, far too clouded with grief for his brain to process any words correctly. "Because it's not a good word!"
"But Mama and Baba Ju say 'Fuck' all time!"
"Yes, well,  they shouldn't be saying it either!" Hakuryuu cried, unable to stop a few tears from falling. "Listen Hakuro, that is a very inappropriate thing for a child to say! Just please,  don't say that word again. Don't be a bad boy."
Large (e/c) eyes grow wide as they begin to moisten with tears, and the boy's lips tremble. "I-I no mean to be bad boy, Baba!" He sniffles, rubbing his eyes with his tiny fists as he began crying.
Instantly, guilt blooms in Hakuryuu's chest, and he mentally scolds himself for making his son upset. If there was one thing he knew his child inherited from him—it was his sensitivity. (Though to be fair, Hakuryuu didn't think he was nearly as sensitive as he used to be. He was a grown man now, he had changed a lot!)
Pulling the boy in his arms, Hakuryuu rocked him gently, trying to hush his cries. "Shh, Hakuro, please don't cry,"  he strokes his son's dark hair.  "You're not a bad boy at all, you're a good boy! Baba was just being silly." Though in reality, he personally felt his worries weren't all that silly, as any parent wouldn't want to hear their young child use any foul words, but he did not like seeing his son upset.
The boy's sobs quiet down, and he pulled away from his father's chest, looking at him through large, teary eyes. "Really? Roro good boy again?"
Hakuryuu smiles gently. "Of course."
When all was settled, his son finally calmed down and returned to his normal, cheerful self Hakuryuu set him down and sent him off to go play. As he finished off putting the dishes away, he couldn't help but ponder, perhaps he was overreacting? It wasn't like his son was a bad child— he was mostly well-behaved, and radiated that natural curiosity and cheerful attitude most toddlers had. Perhaps he wasn't giving him enough credit? After all, he was only three. Like Judar had said, it wasn't as if he knew what that word meant.
Did he really have anything to worry about?
He watched as Hakuro played with a stuffed dragon his aunt Kougyoku had given him, innocently babbling and giggling to himself as he made the toy fly. It was as if the earlier issue hadn't even occurred, gone and far out his mind as he played in his own, blissful little world.
Pale lips form a smile. No, he didn't have to worry about anything— as long as his son grew up in a loving, happy home and raised to be a good man, he would be fine.
Nothing to worry about.
But then, the sound of the front door slamming open suddenly echoed, as an all to familiar voice rang out.
"Hey, why the fuck is it so quiet in here?"
Except for that.

Behind the Fic: TW:OPT - Chapter 110 - 112
Three notes in one because, other than some name trivia, I have nothing to say for these filler training camp chapter.
WARNING: This will contain a bit of spoiler for the newest chapters of my fan fiction, Twisted-Wonderland: Our Precious Treasure.
Chapter 110: Extreme Banquet!
There isn’t that much thing to say about this chapter really.
Kalim’s parade is inspired by Prince Ali sequence in the animated movie and his SSR Dorm Uniform story.
Chapter 111: Follow in My Footsteps, Shoe by Shoe!
This chapter and the next's format are inspired by Ride 34 of Cardfight Vanguard, which my favorite anime of all time (my childhood and still makes me smile rewatching it).
The title is a lyric from Learn to Do It from Anastasia.
There’s a HARDSTOP LUCAS’ 6 x 3 reference here.
Switching up a bit, we have the physical training before the cooking, which is more similar to Azul’s training later. And since Kalim is not in hypnotic mode, I imagine he’s more laid back and has a small get-together activity before bed, like a pillow fight, telling a scary story, or in this chapter case, fireworks.
Kalim is not stupid academically. Jamil teaches him and I believe his father at least teaches him too since he's the heir of the family. And being from a family of merchants, I'm sure he's good, if not better than Jamil in mathematic and economy. From how I see it, Kalim is more of a kinetic learner, like me, where you have to do something when you're studying (I personally prefer to rewrite my notes to memorize). So I can imagine his dad taking him to his office and teach him to count some treasure and trading profit.
Also, I can imagine Kalim will have sibling rivalry. Though whether it reached Mahabharata Pandavas vs Kauravas siblings rivalry, I have no idea. (I want to put more Mahabharata reference, but I don't know the full story, okay)
Okay, renaming the Scarabia NPC. I tried some variations from India and the Middle East since Aladdin is inspired by them. Also changing up their hairstyle and giving them eye color based on the characters from Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic because 1001 Nights has a big influence on it.
Scarabia Boy A: Ashoka Nigam His first name is named after Ashoka the Great, an Indian emperor of Maurya Dynasty, considered to be one of India's greatest emperors. His last name is named after Siddharth Nigam, the actor who played young Prince Ashoka in the 2015 Indian historical drama serial, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat (English: The Great Emperor Ashoka). His hairstyle is based on Alibaba Saluja while his green eye color comes from Scheherazade from Magi. (Originally, he would also have Alibaba’s gold eyes, but Chandra took it first)
Scarabia Boy B: Chandra Asmoro Bangun Named after the two characters from the Panji tales, a cycle of Javanese stories, centered around the legendary prince of the same name from East Java, Indonesia. The characters are Prince Panji Asmoro Bangun and Princess Chandra Kirana from the tale of Chanda Kirana or the tales of Dewi Anggraeni. His hairstyle is based on Aladdin while his gold eye color comes from Sinbad from Magi.
Scarabia Boy C: Yudhi Bhardwaj His first name is named after Yudhishthira from the Hindu epic Mahabarata, the first among the five Pandavas, ruled Indraprastha and later Hastinapur. His last name is named after Rohit Bhardwaj, the actor who played Yudhishthira in the 2013 Indian mythological television series, Mahabharat. His hairstyle is based on Ren Hakuryuu while his eye color comes from Ren Kouha from Magi.
Scarabia Boy D: Mustafa Günsür His first name is named after Şehzade Mustafa, the first son of Sultan Süleyman (Suleiman the Magnificent) and Mahidevran Sultan and the first heir to the Ottoman throne. His last name is named after Mehmet Günsür, one of the three actors who played Şehzade Mustafa in the Turkish historical fiction television series, Muhteşem Yüzyıl (English: The Magnificent Century). His hairstyle is based on Morgiana while his eye color comes from Jafar from Magi.
I’m giving so many things for NPCs who probably won’t appear again. Then again I like to make my story unnecessarily packed.
The battle is loosely based on Kingdom Hearts’ Birth By Sleep Terra’s Experiment 221 Boss Fight, because I can’t really think of any Pokemon vs humans battle. Disappointing battle scene is disappointing.
Chapter 112: Once You Find Your Center, You Are Sure to Win!
The title of is from Mulan’s ‘I’ll Make a Man Out of You’.
This chapter is supposed to be one with the last chapter, but because I have no clue how to do training camp (Break & Gosh still haunts me), the cooking section is moved to this chapter.
In addition, a video call with Heartslabyul. The names were inspired by Shadowhope’s comment on AO3. Riddle and Deuce’s nickname is especially. I’m so sorry for Trey’s nickname though, I was thinking of ‘Dessert Dad’ but then ‘Sugar Daddy’ came to mind and I can’t stop laughing despite how out of context it is. Cater’s name is a spin from ‘Caw Caw Motherfucker’
The conversation between Jonah and Jamil mostly to giving a base for the later confrontation. Planting the seed of doubt.

Imagine...
Tumblr media
The burning hot rage that Hakuryuu felt at this moment felt as though it would melt his entire body. (y/n), his sweet little (y/n), was all covered in bruises and she even had a bloody gash on her cheek! She ran past by the prince, desparetly trying to cover up her tear stained face. She ran and ran, but Hakuryuu could hear the loud laughter in the distance. He angrily made his way towards the palace gardens, only to be met with a sight that only made him even more mad.
Three servant boys and one maid were all joyfully laughing at (y/n)'s misery. They weren't even trying to hide the small bloody blade, they were just wailling it around like it was nothing! Hakuryuu clenched his fists, and with a stern voice he spoke:
"You three! What in the Hell do you think you are doing?!"
The servants looked up and once they saw that it was their prince adressing them, they all bowed in a sign of respect. An unitentional growl left Hakuryuu's mouth as the servants nervously glanced at one another, feeling frightened by Hakuryuu's change of character. He rearly ever showed his true emotions, but when he did speak he was always polite if not cheery... No one had ever seen him act like this. One of them had finally gathered up the strength to look up and the servant boy was met with an icy blue stare. Oh, if looks could kill they would surely be goners...
"M-my prince, you look like something is wrong... Have we done anything that may have angered you...?"
The young man's voice trailed off at the end, but Hakuryuu didn't fail to notice the slight tremble in his voice.
Good.
In a icy cold tone, Hakuryuu said:
"Yes, yes you have done something that angers me greatly. That girl that just ran down that hallway, what have you done to her?"
The servant girl quickly looked up at the fourth prince, and she had a look of pure and utter disgust on her face. Scowling, she stood up, proudly showing him the blood stained knife. Her comrades looked at her with a look that screamed "Stop talking!" but she persisted. In a just tone, she answered:
"Your Majesty, we were just merely setting some things straight with our friend. You see, she stole all of my jewlery and when I confronted her, she told me that she never conmited such a crime..!"
Hakuryuu closed his eyes and a frustrated sigh escaped his lips. Honestly, did these morons take him as a fool? He knew what (y/n) was like, and she was no thief. He had seen her around he pallace, mostly with his elder sister, but wherever she was there was always a veil of light and innocence around her that could never be tainted by the darkness of this world.
This girl was a filthy liar, and she deserved to be punished. At that moment, Hakuryuu had found yet another reason to become Emperor. He needed to protect (y/n) from vile creatures like these, and he was more then ready to slay each and every one of them. All this time, Hakuryuu had his eye on (y/n) and he was keeping her safe from the shadows. The time was coming for him to rise up and to claim his beloved empire, his beloved Empress. Hakuryuu had many plans for the future, but for now he needed to take care of these buffons before doing anything else.
Spear in hand, Hakuryuu pointed its sharp tip at the girls neck, never breaking eye contact. The confidence in her eyes was replaced with a look of pure terror as she fell down to her knees, pleeing for forgivness. Her three companions could do nothing but to watch as they feared for their own fates. The girls sobs echoed as Hakuryuu remained motionless, all the while the tip of his weapn shone brightly in the moonlight. Oh how badly was he tempted to fully djinn equip, but he couldn't do that here, not yet at least.
Seconds became minutes, and the servant girls cries became louder and louder. Her screams were muffled by the sounds of roaring thunder as raindrops fell out of the sky. She screamed in pure agony as her left arm had been fully sliced away, and was now laying in the grass. Her friends whimpered and cried, while the girls shrieks filled Hakuryuu's ears. He smirked at the unholy sound, while turning his back on the small gang. He left behind a small bloody trail but that could always be cleaned up...!
He was so close towards reaching his goal, nothing could stop him. The shrieks in the background were mere white noise to him now as Hakuryuu's thoughts were only filled with that smile he adored oh so much. Soon enough, (y/n) was going to be by his side, and they were going to be happy.

Love Killer (Chapter 3) Without Consent (Jadal | Judar)
Tumblr media
Asha rested her cheek against her fist and peered around the banquet hall without interest. Her mind was on the verge of insanity, resolving to drown out the overused topics of war and grandeur as she dined quietly without drawing attention to herself. She thought briefly of the concept of falling in love and even laughed at herself before Kamal's voice called out her name. "My sister A'isha will be honored to be a guest of the royal family, won't she?"
"Pardon me." Her startled voice brought the attention of the entire hall to herself. Her face became hot, realizing that she had not heard the conversation leading to the question her brother was asking. Her eyes begged him to continue.
He sighed and repeated himself, "I have spoken with Lord Kouen over the issue of our homestead and he has agreed to allow you residence at the palace under his care while you study magic."
"I am to do what?" Asha raised a brow. "And why was I not brought up to speed about this beforehand?"
"Because it did not concern you up until now," he answered in all conscience.
Asha clamped together her jaw to repress a hiss. Her mind was still trying to piece together the mixed-up mess of information Kamal had given to her. She huffed a sigh. "I don't understand."
It was Kouen's voice who spoke in his place. "This conversation has become quite repetitive so quickly explain the situation once again, old friend." His dark and ill-disposed eyes flicked to her. "Should she choose to listen now."
Kamal gave a chuckle. "It seems I have no choice."
"Apparently so," Asha agreed weakly. "Please enlighten me then." She waited irritably for his response.
Kamal rested his jaw on the top of his fingers and repeated himself once again, “As I just explained, before our departure father presented an urgent commission to me other than seeing to the safe delivery of merchandise over the crossing. He asked that I take you to Rakushou and before the Emperor inquire the aid of their High Priest to train you in magic.”
Asha blinked and rested her hands in her lap. Is he serious? She doubted his words but Kamal neither smiled or became red in the cheeks as he usually did when he told a lie. Her head felt light. “This is no joke, is it?”
Her brother shook his head, swinging dark ringlets of hair into his eyes. “I’m afraid not.”
“This is absurd.” She dug her fingers into the beautiful, silk fabric of the kimono she was lent and directed a glare to the self-centered Magi across the table from her.
“Don’t look at me. It wasn’t my idea.” He poked at his food without interest and brought a piece of highly spiced eel meat to his nose to smell it, casting it aside in disgust. “Besides, it’s not like I have much of a choice. I’ve got nothing better to do.”
“You are a liar,” she accused.
Judal flashed her a wounded look. “That hurts Asha. I thought you’d be pleased to hear that I am soon to be your magic teacher.”
“I’m overjoyed,” she hissed. “But could you not have told me earlier about this?”
“I would have, had you not thrown wine in my face.” He taunted her with a cheeky smile. “Such a rude way to greet someone who agreed to help you.”
Kamal shot her a glare. “I apologize on behalf of my sister, Judal-sama. She has obviously overlooked her good manners.”
Judal waved a dismissive hand to him. “No need. I just hope we can still be friends.”
Asha was peeved. She stood and slammed her hands down on the table, throwing to him a heated glare. “Shut your damn mouth. I’m tired of hearing it.”
Kouha was in fits. He licked his lips and nudged the Magi setting beside him. “Such a nasty look.” His eyes twinkled. “Like she wants to rip out your insides and ram them down your throat.”
Koumei grunted in disapproval, “Not while we are eating Kouha.”
The young prince tossed his eyes into the air, and for a second brought a smile to the face of Asha. He was too cute. Forlornly, her cheerful demeanor disappeared when at last Kamal decided to speak.
“This is no joke A'isha,” he hissed. “I am disappointed in the disorder you have turned this evening into.”
Asha frowned and apologized quietly, reclaiming her seat between Kougyoku and another of the princesses. It took a great length to upset her brother; a rare feat Asha admitted to only seeing once when they were children and in her opinion was enough to scare her into heeding his advice. However, Judal was certainly testing her patience.
He leaned to the side and whispered to Kouha inciting a laugh from him. The young prince mocked him and snapped his wrist to and fro like a whip. Asha took it as an indication that Judal thought she was obedient and stuck her tongue out at him. Her brother’s angry voice startled her.
“That is enough A'isha.” He pinched the bridge of his nose. “If we may be excused my Lord. I would like to speak with my sister in private.”
Kouen laughed and gave a nod. “By all means.” He fondled his goatee and flicked his eyes to Asha as she shied away from her brother’s angry glare, giving her a smile. Kamal was a scary man if provoked but soft hearted when it came to Asha. She was never in any real trouble, and with that in mind, Kouen went back to eating his dinner and ignored his old drinking companion as he stood and motioned for his sister to follow.
Asha rose up and walked with him from the dining hall looping her arms beneath her chest as she followed him into the corridor. As the doors closed behind them and he was certain no one would hear he gave a whole-hearted laugh.
“When did you get to be so damn high-spirited?”
Asha forced a smile. “I learned from watching you. I hope you are not angry with me.”
“I’m not,” he admitted. “But I’d appreciate if from now on you would bite your tongue in the company of Kouen. Judal-sama is rather vexing at times, I know but Kouen will not stand for disorder of any kind.”
He huffed a sigh and added, “It took a lot of ass-kissing to get you here, so be careful and watch the surges of anger, deal kiddo?”
Asha gave a brief nod and absorbed her attention on drawing patterns on the plain, white marble beneath her feet. She hadn’t overlooked the situation she was tossed carelessly into, but rather tried to ignore it a little longer. Her brother however, could tell that something was on her mind and knew just what.
“Father wants to merge our homestead with the Kou Empire.” He gave her a sad smile. “I had no intention on telling you any of this but we are family after all."
Her eyes met his. "I see now. I had a feeling something like this would eventually happen."
Kamal gave a nod. "I am afraid so. The country we live in is falling apart and father can no longer hold it all together. Even with the exchange of illegal goods he has no choice but to ask help from the Emperor."
"There has to be another way." Asha clenched her fists. "Father can relinquish his title to another or turn Al-Hala into a republic with no inequality. He doesn't have to do this."
Kamal laughed, "True you are, but father has his reasons. He knew that you would have said no anyhow."
"Of course I would have," she agreed.
Kamal gave a deep laugh and patted her head. Forlornly she forced a smile but her mind was still uneasy.
"Is there something else on your mind?"
"Of all the people he could have asked to train me, why Judal?" She chewed at her jaw. "Could I not have just been sent to the magic school instead?"
Kamal had to laugh at this. He was under the suspicion that Judal was behind her lack of attention as of late. His sister did not like the Magi at all and so he chose to be delicate in regards to the situation. "Judal-sama is a Magi. I know neither of you like the other, but the rukh favors him and he well succeeds the magicians of Magnostadt. We are out of time and in less than a year father believes the country will become a part of Al-Maqabir."
Al-Maqabir? The graves. It was a country to the west of the Moon city. A barren wasteland of thieves and murderers. From what Asha knew about it, the chieftain was a demon of a man who sought to take the Oasis trading towns from Al-Hala, and in the past even tried to take the city itself. But with the Kou Empire as an ally, a repeat in history just was not possible, or so Asha expected. If her father was concerned with the well-being of the city, then Asha was too.
She resolved that her being here was a part of a bigger plan to secure her homestead and so the fate of her family, of her people were left to the choices she made while in the Empire.
"I suppose I have no choice but to agree for the sake of our homestead." Asha huffed a sigh. Her brow raised at the cheeky expression on his face. "What is so funny?"
Kamal scratched at his short, brown hair. "Who knows, maybe the High Priest and you will learn to tolerate each other."
Asha scoffed at this. "Fat chance and don't expect me to try either."
He laughed, "Of course not, but trust in me this once. I am certain the High Priest can teach you magic in less than a year."
"How certain are you?"
"Very certain, but only if you try." He patted her head and moved to leave. "I believe in you Asha. A black sheep of Al-Kilani you may be, but a warrior no less."
"I hope you are right." Asha watched him walk through the doors of the banquet hall and leaned against the wall with a sigh.
In the morning of the next day Kamal returned home to the Moon city. Asha spent the next few weeks racing to collect her personal belongings in preparation for her stay. Not knowing when she would return home was a pain, but she set her mind to studying the basics of magic in order to rush her training. And with the consent of Kouen on using his private library, Asha was able to learn enough on manipulating and conserving magoi that by the time she joined Kouha and Hakuryuu the next day to spar she was certain that she could hold her own.
On the other hand, a novice magician she still was and not once during her stay had Judal offered to teach her anything. In fact, Asha was beginning to think he had resolved to let her fail. She didn't mind either way, but the fate of her family still weighed heavy on her mind. For their sake she would swallow her pride and ask him. But she would not beg.

Headcanon + Canon Divergence !!
              Exile & Respect
Kouha, just like Kougyoku, was shunned in the corner of the palace; hidden away to hide such a regretful concubine and her devil child. He never received human interaction besides his mother, who was not mentally mature anymore, instead, Kouha took the role of ‘Mother’ and his mom was his ‘daughter’. The servants were afraid to come by his room to give food to at least keep alive. Kouha grew a deep, burning hatred towards Koutoku, so much so, when he was approached by his brothers and learning he was now the Third Imperial Prince and their father was now the Emperor. Kouha cut off all of his hair that had grown out as a child and refused to let it grow, as disrespect towards his father.
The body, hair and skin, all have been received from the parents, and so one doesn’t dare damage them—that is the beginning of xiao.
— Classic of Filial Piety
Kouha worked so hard and becoming an Imperial General, not for his father, but for his self and Kouen and Koumei, who were the only people to come and tell him he no longer had to be ‘mother’ but ‘Kouha’. And one of his regrets is not spending time with his sister, Kougyoku, when he learned that she too was a daughter of a concubine and shunned away. So, he was prideful when she became a General. It goes to show that Kouha does not care about the majority of his family, really. The only ones he’s really cared for was Kouen, Koumei, and Kougyoku. He didn’t care for his half-sisters ( they were all married off ), Hakuei, Hakuryuu, Gyokuen, etc.
However, it was after the Civil War, when he was sentenced to exile along with his brother, Koumei and later, Kouen. It was a sentence that Kouha despised Hakuryuu for, even more than he originally had. Though he loves his older brothers, he is once again in the role of caretaker, exiled away from society, though it was new for his brothers; this was too close to Kouha’s childhood. A childhood that he longed despised his own father for.
In my canon divergence, Kouha returned to Kou to be a bodyguard to the Emperor, and had it been to protect Hakuryuu, Kouha’d rather lick the dirt off his horse’s hooves. But he is happy and proud to see his sister on the throne, someone strong with a good heart. Whatever decisions she makes, he will be sure to protect and agree with her. Found by her side always, though he knows 100% that she can easily take care of herself. And should anyone oppose, threaten, or sadden her, Kouha would gladly destroy that person. Even when Hakuryuu, Aladdin, and Morgiana return; Hakuryuu will not have the tiniest ounce of respect and any familial connection severed.

A Facade of Love [Yandere! Hakuryuu Ren] [Reader-Insert]
With grey clouds overcasting the premises of the Kou empire, the sky was a blanket of inky black. The dark night was starless, which meant that the only subject visible to the naked eye in the pitch-black sky, was the brilliant and lustrous moon. It was suspended at the peak of the night sky, radiating it’s glorious light on the earth beneath it. The castle of Kou empire stood tall and proud, as it supported countless of rooms, and sheltered the ones who carried the royal blood, those who were associated with the said royal bloods’, and those who would soon become part of the royal family, whether they wanted to or not. On one of the top floors of the castle, in the room where the moonlight would peek through at the perfect angle, resided a soon-to-be princess. It was evident that this room belonged to one of the prince/princesses’ of the empire because the room was integrated to sophistication as it was painted with rich colours and decorated with fine antiques.
In the middle of the room, there was a king sized bed. Silver chains were wrapped around the bedpost, binding [Name] [Surname], the soon-to-be bride of Hakuryuu Ren, to the bed. The moonlight which peeked through the window and shone on [Name]’s rigid form, caused the silver chains, and the jewels she was dressed in, to glisten.
The [h/c] female was half-lying against the bedpost, and she wore a lifeless and grim expression on her face. Her [e/c] eyes which were once filled with bliss, innocent wonder, and beaming buoyancy were voided off any life. It was as if the struggles of existence had become so unbearable that it left behind a shell which held nothing; she was blank.
[Name] was existing and breathing but she was not living.
Despite her dead-self, [Name] was an absolutely stunning sight to behold. Due to customs of the Kou Empire[1], and her long confinement, [Name] had luxurious, long, and soft hair that fell on her just a bit past her knees; and was spread around her chained form on the bed. Half of her hair was done up in a sophisticated style consisting of braids. Gold jewels and various other expensive hair ornaments decorated her hair. [Name] wore a sleeveless, long, and flowy white dress with a small golden belt wrapped around her waist. Two red veils, each attached at the each arm hole of the dress, went over her arms. The neckline of the dress was a deep cut, revealing her cleavage. Lastly, there were long slits on each side of the dress which went up to her thigh, excessively exposing her legs.
Like she usually did, [Name] sat still, staring at nothing in particular. She remained motionless like an inanimate doll, simply blinking occasionally.
It was unknown how much time had passed; but after what felt like an eternity, the door to her isolated abode was finally opened.
The visitor to her bleak world, the only visitor allowed to see her, was the fourth emperor of Kou Empire, Hakuryuu Ren. The sound of the door opening caused [Name] to turn her head towards Hakuryuu. And when dead [e/c] eyes met sea blue eyes, Hakuryuu’s face lit up in joy.
With a loving grin on his face, he almost strode towards her. However, as an emperor with a pride, he held himself back. For how long he was going to be able to do that, was unknown.
“Hello my love,” Hakuryuu greeted, smiling and sitting on the bed. To his greeting, [Name] merely stared at him, empty of any emotions, expressions and words. Her eyes were blank, and the most reaction that Hakuryuu received from her was the movements of her lips pressing in a thin line.
At her lack of response, Hakuryuu sighed. Then, as if the exhaustion from the entire day had kicked in right then and there, with another deep sigh, Hakuryuu fell back on the bed and into [Name]’s lap.
 She did not respond.
Hakuryuu turned in her lap so he was lying on his side, and tilted his head upwards so he could stare at [Name]. As he gazed into her barren eyes, Hakuryuu frowned.
“I had a really difficult day today, you know,” He began murmuring, as he started  to trace circles on the exposed skin of her thighs with his index finger.
“And I was hoping that you would welcome me with open arms and shining eyes, and your brilliant smile that just makes me melt. We could sit under the moonlight like this, brush each other’s hair and drink the new imported jasmine tea from Balbadd. I drank it during a meeting today, and it was delightful. I am certain you would love it,” Hakuryuu said, smiling at her.
[Name]’s finger twitched as she narrowed her eyes at Hakuryuu, who in her eyes, continued to blabber utter nonsense. His soft feathery touches sent shivers through her spine, a feeling of forced pleasure she had learned to ignore. However, his venomous touch that she had come to loathe, and his non-stop jabbing dialogues were rubbing on her the wrong way. After what seemed to be months of being emotionless and killing herself to become unresponsive, [Name] felt a flicker of small flame etched with anger light up within her.
“Well, I’m sorry I can’t cater to your god damn childish needs like a mother or share any non consensual intimacy with you because you had me chained up!” [Name] hissed, as she tried to lift up her knee to shove Hakuryuu off of her. However, as soon as her knee has even twitched, Hakuryuu had sat up, and gripped her knees with his hands to cease any movements. He gripped them tightly, inflicting pain on [Name]. As result, she hissed, and tried to get her legs away from Hakuryuu, but her efforts were fruitless, and her pain only increased.
“While I am enthralled to hear your beautiful voice again,” Hakuryuu began, as he moved on top of her, and then gently grabbed her chin.
“I do not appreciate the tone you speak to me in. I am an Emperor, and out of everyone, as my beloved, you of all people, need to regard me with the respect I deserve,” He stated, gazing in her eyes seriously, as he rubbed his thumb against her cheek.
 [Name] scoffed.
“A title does not mean anything if you cannot live up to it. Respect is given to those who earn it. As your beloved, I should be treated the best. Not locked up in one room for the rest of my life, simply because you are so disgustingly insecure that you do not even trust me enough to interact with anyone but you. In order to receive respect from someone, you must return it. And until you can do that, you will not receive any respect from me,” [Name] stated blankly.
[Name] received no response from Hakuryuu. He simply stared at her as if he was contemplating deeply about what she said. However, knowing from experience that realistically, he was always too stubborn and did as  he pleased; he was definitely not thinking about [Name]’s words which challenged his ownership over her. After all, his silence was never a good sign. Subsequently, a bubble of regret began to form in the pit of [Name]’s stomach; and she knew, that because she blatantly spoke out turn, whatever ‘punishment’ that was written in her fate, was going to be terribly atrocious.
“You're the feisty one,” [2] Hakuryuu began with a smirk, as he continued to brush his thumb against [Name].
She inwardly cringed at his touch.
“I almost miss your rebellious nature, but not when it is acting up against me,” He continued, as he trailed his other hand down [Name]’s thigh, and began to caress it, sending shivers down her spine.
[Name]’s eyes widened in fear, and instantly, she started to thrash around in her chains in an attempt to get away from Hakuryuu. But like all cliche moments in yandere stories, the author being very unoriginal,  and not being able to write a different scenario, [Name]’s efforts were fruitless due to Hakuryuu’s strong grip on her.
“I was really trying to be gentle with you, but you seem to not want it that way. You have left me with no choice but to tame you with force now,” Hakuryuu whispered dangerously, before forcing his lips on [Name].

his body ached, but now wasn’t the time to give in to rest. they were so close; gyokuen and the rest of the empire were finally within reach. he and judar would kill the witch, take back his country and then destroy anything else — anyone else — who dared to get in their way. so rest was out of the question, at least for hakuryuu, but for his lazy magi, that was another story. ❛❛ quit that, judar; you’re supposed to be working on your teleportation magic. ❜❜
"Hmph," he replied with a confident scoff, hands stretched before him, fingers spread as the flow of magoi shaped a small oval, a liquid mirror reflecting a random landscape, the image seemed to breath in and out, a small portal.
"I'm the best at what I do," he glanced over his shoulder, eyes narrowing with a sneer.
Tumblr media
"Behold, my liege" There was a lingering hint in his words, not mockery, but a twisted form of pride, perhaps one fed by Al Thamen. As much as Judar hated to admit it, they had taught him what he knew, and he had exceeded all expectations, as the strongest of the magi.
However, the sleepless hours of study, practice, and effort were a secret jealously kept.

Useless Magi headcanon time
So I was doing some thinking about the Kou siblings and how apart from Kougyoku we know next to nothing about the other sister, plus the mothers of all of the siblings. So I have come up with the following headcanon theory things:
As we know Emperor Koutoku had 3 sons and 7 daughters, but we don’t know to how many women. According to this pictures
Tumblr media
Emperor Koutoku fathered his children to 5 different women, not including Gyokuen. I can’t remember if this appears in the manga and I’m too lazy to go looking. It may not be canon and I don’t care, fight me.
So he had 10 children to 5 women. We know that Kouen and Koumei are full blood brothers, and we can reasonably assume Kouha’s mother only had one child, same with Kougyoku’s. Which means that the other 6 princesses where born to 2 women and that these 6 are very close in age.
I came to this conclusion because Hakuei is the 1st Princess and at the end of the series is 26. Kougyoku is the 8th and youngest princess and at the end of magi is 22. Which means the other 6 princesses had to be born in between them. There is no chance of any of the other princesses being older than Hakuei because even though Hakuryuu is the son of the 1st Emperor he is the 4th Prince because he is the youngest (21 at the end of Magi).
I did some calculations with gestation time like 4 can be easily born to one woman, excluding twins etc, but from what little we know of Koutoku’s character he doesn’t seem like the type to favour one woman that much.
So now we come to the headcanons, I’m elaborating on @mayelamker‘s post because it’s so well thought out and I like it. So read it first or the next bit won’t make sense.
I headcanon that these groups are full blood sisters
Second Princess Kouko, 5th Princess Kouzue, and 6th Princess Kouhana and
and the 3rd Princess Kouran, 4th Princess Kounami and 7th Princess Kourin are full blood sisters.
I based this mainly on hair colour, the first batch have more pinkish hair while the others have more red hair (depending on which screenshot you look at)
Now onto ages! I agree with how Mayelamker organized them so I’ll just add the ages I think they are
From one mother:
Kouko is 26 but is a few months younger than Hakuei.
Kouzue is 24
Kouhana is 23
And from the other mother:
Kouran is 25
Kounami is 24, and is older than Kouzue by about a week.
Kourin is 22 nearly 23, making her a few months older than Kouhyoku (22) and Kouha (22).
Mother headcanons:
I headcanon that either Kouen and Koumei’s mother was Koutoku’s wife but died before the events of the series, allowing him to marry Gyokuen. She may have been a concubine but judging by the treatment of Kouen and Koumei I’m going to say wife. I’m not sure how I headcanon her dying, perhaps in childbirth or something. But I think her death upset Koutoku as there is at least a 4 year age gap between Koumei and the next eldest child.
If I remember correctly Kougyoku’s mother was a maid or something and that she died in childbirth or at least when Kougyoku was young.
Kouha’s mother was a concubine but that changed after her son was born and her behaviour changed and they were both shunned to a far corner of the palace.
The other two mothers I headcanon as official concubines that advisers had originally hoped one would become Koutoku’s wife, which is why he had so many children with them but Gyokuen either had them killed or managed to push them to the side.
So that comes to the end of my useless magi headcanon post. I wish we knew more about the Kou sisters but I doubt that will ever happen. If anyone has any headcanons of their own I would love to hear them.

Magi Monday Vol.1
Magi might have finished its serialization, but there is a lot of material that we have yet to read and discuss! As such, we are back to Mondays with Magi Monday, where I’ll be posting weekly translations from the different guidebooks and other sources.
Yep, this will be a weekly thing, so feel free to submit requests here. The form will always be open, and my idea will be to, whenever possible, ask you guys to choose the next topic between two options. This time we don’t have options as we are just starting out, so everything goes! :D
Let’s keep this community going~~!
Note: For other series, remember that I have translations requests open at this link.
Magi Monday Vol.1 - Official Site Character Profiles
Warning: As usual, please note that my level of Japanese is basic at most, so I cannot guarantee that the following is 100% accurate. Feel free to share the link, but please DO NOT REPOST, and don’t forget to support the official releases!!
In which we take a look at the official character profiles from the official site. Given only two lines, who was chosen and what was said?
This topic was totally not chosen because I wasn’t expecting Mondays to win and this weekend I’m not at home where my books are. Nope, not at all.
ALADDIN The son of the legendary King Solomon, who came from another world. A magi who holds the omniscient power known as “Solomon’s Wisdom”.
ALIBABA Former prince of the Balbadd Kingdom, who was chosen by Aladdin to conquer a Dungeon. Revived from a spiritual body. Opposes Sinbad.
MORGIANA A former slave who is part of Amon’s Household. As a member of the Fanalis warrior race, she boasts outstanding physical abilities.
SINBAD The “High King of the Seven Seas”, who conquered 7 Dungeons. After suppressing the Kou War 3 years ago, he has been leading the world to peace. He currently has usurped the Sacred Palace, and holds the fate of the world.
JA’FAR A former parliamentary official of Sindria, and one of the Eight Generals who supported the king. Currently Sindria Company’s Chief of the Secretarial Office (1).
JUDAR A Magi who fell into darkness. Currently working with Hakuryuu.
REN KOUGYOKU Once the Eight Princess of the Kou Empire, and a Metal Vessel user. Currently the empress of the Kou Empire. Alibaba’s friend (2).
REN KOUMEI Former Second Prince of the Kou Empire. Was exiled as a criminal, but in response to Alibaba’s appeal, returned as a mask bearing strategist.
REN HAKURYUU Former Fourth Prince of the Kou Empire, and descendant of the first emperor. After abdicating as the fourth emperor of Kou, he has been working with Aladdin and his group.
REN HAKUEI Former First Princess of the Kou Empire. Her body was taken over by Alma Torran’s magician Arba after she transferred her spiritual body from her mother Gyokuen to her. However, Aladdin’s magic successfully drove Arba out.
YUNAN The Magi who protects the Great Rift. He was the one who invited Sinbad to a Dungeon.
ARBA A magician from another world, Alma Torran. Al-Thamen’s leader. While changing her appearance she has lived over a thousand years, but Aladdin took her power from her.
Translation Notes (1) By using the past tense, it is made clear Ja’far is no longer one of the Eight Generals. His position in the company was taken from Sense’s translation for consistency. (2) A more literal translation would be something like “Her connection to Alibaba is being friends”.
A few extra comments from my side:
It was interesting that neither Ugo nor David were mentioned at all. Neither was Kouen.
So much emphasis on “Former [Position] of [Country], huh... .
I wonder why Alibaba was explicitly listed as “opposing Sinbad” (and the only one to be named as such, too).

hakuryuu, koumei, and kouha for the headcanon ABCD thing pls? ty! OH, and i really liked your Magi BB fic btw!!! c:
(Thanks so much!! I’m still really proud of Orestes, so I’m glad you liked it! :D)
Send me characters and I’ll tell you my headcanons:
Hakuryuu
A: What I think realistically: During the timeskip, Hakuryuu tried to be a good emperor, and do what he assumed his father and elder brothers would have done in his place, really he did. But between his own leadership inexperience, the fact that public opinion of him wasn’t exactly great after the whole matricide-and-mind-control deal, and Sinbad and Arbakuei’s undermining of Kou, he just couldn’t stop the country from falling apart.
B: What I think is fucking hilarious: The very first time Hakuryuu tried alcohol, he was remembering how having too much to drink used to make Hakuren act a fool and how Hakuyuu would always stay relatively sober to keep him in check, so he tried to limit himself. Unfortunately, what he had come into possession of was much harder liquor than he thought, and he miscalculated how much he could actually handle. Seishun found him sobbing inconsolably in a corner in the middle of the night, completely smashed, and the next morning he woke up to a killer hangover and a stern lecture from his sister. (Who didn’t really have a leg to stand on herself, but still, someone had to do it.)
C: What is heart-crushing and awful but fun to inflict on friends: As a child, Hakuryuu loved his father, but he was the only one of his siblings who heavily preferred his mother. After Hakutoku is murdered and Gyokuen reveals her true colors, Hakuryuu deeply regrets not trying to spend more time with his father, especially since they saw each other so little to begin with, due to Hakutoku being away at war and having his duties as emperor to contend with.
D: What would never work with canon but the canon is shit so I believe it anyway: After the war is over, he’ll apologize to his sister for lying to her, feeling betrayed enough to want to kill her just because she asked for time to think after he just dumped ten years’ worth of traumatic revelations on her head when both of them were already stressed and angry, throwing their country into civil war, and basically having zero respect for her, her feelings, and her ideals for most of their lives. You know, since there’s nowhere near enough time left in the manga to let these two have the Very Long Talk about everything they’ve been through that they really need to have, because the Ren family is apparently allergic to healthy communication.
Koumei
What I think realistically: Dantalion made his Djinn Equip outfit that robe-like thing that completely covers his body, because she took one look at the flashy, skin-showing outfits the other Djinn dressed their masters in and decided right away that her Koumei wouldn’t like being shown off like that at all.
What I think is fucking hilarious: On several occasions, his beloved birds have mistaken his hair for the perfect nesting environment. And on a handful of those occasions, he didn’t realize that they had made this decision until they flew around at inopportune times like when Koumei laid down to sleep, or during a war meeting. (Kouen describes the sudden urge to strangle a pigeon for flying out of his brother’s hair and straight at his beard as intense and incredibly strange.)
What is heart-crushing and awful but fun to inflict on friends: Koumei accompanied Kouen and his retainers to Astaroth’s dungeon, and so was gone from the palace too during the Great Fire. Returning to find his older cousins dead, his immediate thought was that he regretted not trying to obtain a Djinn earlier. Surely if he’d had one in the first place, the way he saw it, he would not have been away from home and would have been able to protect the Metal Vessel-less princes from harm.
What would never work with canon but the canon is shit so I believe it anyway: SOMEBODY EXPLAINS WHAT THE FUCK WAS GOING ON WITH THE ZOMBIE ARMY HE WAS BUILDING UNDERNEATH THE PALACE. THAT…THAT’S SERIOUSLY NEVER GOING TO BE BROUGHT UP AGAIN?! REALLY?
Kouha
What I think realistically: When the Kou brothers were forced into exile, Kouha made Kougyoku promise that she would make sure his mother would stay safe and well cared for. Kougyoku responded that she would have done that whether he told her to or not, and he hugged her tight and thanked her profusely before he was taken away.
What I think is fucking hilarious: Sinbad will never say it out loud, but when he heard rumors that Kouha was more skilled with women than him, it upset him even worse than when he heard that Kouen was younger- and better-looking than him.
What is heart-crushing and awful but fun to inflict on friends: The only relatives Kouha legitimately cares about are his brothers, Kougyoku, and his mother. He (canonically) hates his father and aunt/stepmother, but he’s indifferent to his other half-sisters and even more so to his cousins. He only sees Ryuu and Ei as potential barriers to Kouen taking the throne, and though he tries to care about what happened to his uncle and elder cousins because it’s put his brothers through so much grief, he can’t. He’s not happy that they’re dead, he just doesn’t feel anything for them.
What would never work with canon but the canon is shit so I believe it anyway: He made friends with the animals on Samon Island and they (somehow) taught him the secrets of how to keep his hair long, shiny, and fabulous even an ocean away from anything like proper hair care. The Koubros are Snow White confirmed.

hey, so i was stalking your blog and came and across an old post in which you mentioned that you would like to see kougyoku and hakuryuu interact more. any headcanons you would like to share? please distract yourself from tgre, reading it is suffering in its purest form.
Hello :)
My emperor children need to interact more. Both are awesome characters who started from the bottom but now they have reached the top.
So here are some headcanons about them:
Both of them enjoyed practicing with their weapons so they often did it together. When word spreaded  around that the Empress and the prince were having friendly matches, they also gained an audience
Kougyoku wanted to improve her cooking skills so she went to Hakuryuu for help. Even after she improved herself, they still continued cooking together because they both enjoyed it.
Once Kougyoku tried to play the matchmaker, introducing Hakuryuu to various noble girls who would be over thrilled to become engaged with the handsome prince. She gave up to her matchmaker plans though, once she realized that Haku wasn’t interested.
But she could never give up trying to convince Hakuryuu to wear some more fashionable clothes. So in this case it was Hakuryuu who gave up, finally letting the Empress pick some outfits for him.
Hakuryuu is  the only one besides Kougyoku who knows what it’s like to be the Kou Emperor. So, every time Kougyoku is overwhelmed by her Empress responsibilities, she goes to Hakuryuu to complain about it because she knows that he won’t only listen to her but also understand her.

May I ask for an EnEi scenario where Hakuei is awake from her coma only after a kiss from Kouen? It's basically like Sleeping Beauty or Snow White tbh
“Prince Kouen! Prince Kouen!”
Ren Kouen sighed inwardly and rubbed his temples infrustration. He had told Koumei to keep outsiders away from the library.Usually Judar or Kouha were there to pull a prank in the name of studyingso he had given strict orders to Koumei to keep absolutely anyone away from thelibrary.
The door opened and a servant stumbled in awkwardly, out ofbreath and terrified. Kouen raised an eye-brow. “What is it? Why are you insuch state?”
The man gulped and tried to catch his breath as he stoodstraighter. “I am sorry for disturbing you my Lord but this is an emergency.Princesses Hakuei was brought in moments ago…”
“What?” Blinked Kouen in surprise. Hakuei had been sent tothe borders on a mission but it was a diplomatic one, not a military one. Sowhy the man was talking like she had been hurt?
“She and her attendant were attacked by a bandit of thieveswhich had a metal vessel user among them. Our princess is shot by a poisonedarrow.”
He was about to give more details but Kouen was already onhis feet and was rushing to Hakuei’s room.
“What has happened?”
Ren Hakuryuu and Ren Koumei were beside Hakuei’s bed when Kouen walked in with quick but steady steps, the only thing betraying hisinner fears being his barely noticeable shaky voice. He was the strongest and mostreliable figure among his siblings and cousins, so he could not afford to losehis composure now.
Hakuryuu opened his mouth to answer but Koumei jumped in,knowing that the young prince may say something mean. “My brother, My king.” Hegreeted respectfully. “Lady Hakuei has been shot by a poisonous arrow.Hakuryuu has detoxed her body with Zagan already but it seems useless.”
Kouen said nothing and drew his sword silently, pointing ittowards Hakuei’s motionless body. The metal vessel shone and it’s lightengulfed the dark-haired princess’s body, blinding and bright. Phenex’s healingability was beyond legendry. If Hakuei’s body already was cleaned from poison, then there was no problem. Phenex had even healed men on the verge of death before.Seconds went by and it nearly turned to a minute but nothing happened. Hakueiremained unconscious, her beautiful eyes closed and her hair around like blackvelvet.
Koumei’s eyes went wide and Hakuryuu was close to crying.Even Kouen taken aback from phenex’s inability to heal his cousin. “I…what…?”was all he could whisper in his shock.
“My brother, My king. The best healers have already taken alook at her. If phenex is not able heal her, it is beyond them I am afraid.”
Kouen growled at him. “What are you saying Koumei? Are yousaying that Lady Hakuei is…”?
“Of course not. My guess is that poison had something weirdin it that even a djinn is unable to cure it.” Koumei said curtly.  “That is why I am sending after Yamuraiha,Sindria’s magician. She is a genius.”
“You are seeking help from Sinbad? That insolent man?” Kouenhissed.
“We have no other option, my brother and king.” Said Koumei, using the serious tone which he often used when talking about war strategiesand when he was met with Kouen’s silence he knew that he had earned thepermission.
“I have brought you some tea my Lord.”
Kouen blinked back to reality when he heard the voice of aservant calling him. He must have been spacing out again. It was happening alot lately. “put it on the table.” He answered gruffly and the servant bowed, putting the tray on the table and leaving the room.
The first prince sighed as he looked at the beautiful woman whomhe was sitting at her bed side. Hakuei was even prettier in her comatose state. He remembered Sinbad’s magician’s words.
“She physically is ok but mentally exhausted. She needspeace. Peace and tender contact with a loved one. Is there anyone in her heart?”
She had asked and Kouen remembered how his blood had boiledat hearing that, for the first time feeling like his nickname, the flameemperor.  He knew he had no right tobe jealous or angry at the person who Hakuei had deemed worthy of herself, buthe could not help it. He was in love with her and he had not known till now.
He sighed again, this time softer as he tried to keep histemper in check. He stood up to leave the room, his tea untouched and cold now.Remaining in the same room with an unresponsive Hakuei made him more than sad. Hegazed at her precious face, sadness dancing in his eyes and grief squeezing hisheart and suddenly he found his lips on the princess’s, kissing her tenderly.
His eyes went wide and he nearly jumped back, disgusted withhimself. How could have he done that? Despite having feelings for Hakuei, hehad never touched her in any improper way. Why now? Now that she was all defenselessand fragile?
He was internally battling and snapping at himself when he hearda small moan. His hands shook as his shocked gaze fell upon Hakuei who waslooking at him with half-open, dazed eyes. “Kouen-dono?” She asked confusedlyand Kouen could not help but to pull her into his arms. “Hakuei…oh Hakuei…” Hewhispered against her marble neck, all pleasantries aside. He could not digestit. He could not believe it. That Hakuei was awake. That his kiss hadawakened her. He was this close to breaking down.
“Kouen-dono?” Asked Hakuei once again, more confused now.
“Hush. It is all right.” Was all Kouen said as he tightened his arms around the black-hairedprincess.

maybe in another life (i could have you)
He didn’t want to, but the moment Alibaba dropped down on one knee and declared his love for someone else, he knew that he had to go away. Again.
The sun had already begun its retreat into the lilac streaked clouds. Ren Hakuryuu watched its quick descent, quite surprised. Had he really been there for that long? His limbs jolted suddenly, answering his question. Pins and needles prickled his nerves. A vague thought surfaced in the back of his head, something about going home before dark. The streets of Qishan weren’t known for their safety, despite the established laws in the new world.
A few more minutes shouldn’t hurt though. He wasn’t at all anxious to be reunited with the group after the recent whirlwind of events. He eyed the pack beside him that contained all his things. Maybe he should stay in a different place for the night, under the pretence that he didn’t feel so well and didn’t want the others to catch it. Or maybe he should just leave entirely. Again
He considered looking for Judar. That was a good idea wasn’t it? He would search for him, find him, and give him a good piece of his mind. And maybe a whack upside the head while he was at it. Or a punch straight to that snickering face. Maybe both. He could also use Zagan and decompose that stupidly long hair of h—
His ear was tickled by a faint rustle, coming from an alarmingly small distance away. He snapped out of his progressively morbid thoughts and turned, on guard, before belatedly realizing it was nothing to worry about.
Aladdin held his hands up, shooting him a wary smile. “You disappeared all of a sudden and your things were gone, so I came to look for you.” The blue haired boy patted the space on the stone bench. “This seat taken?”
The former emperor of Kou relaxed. “You know it isn’t.”
“Mm,” the magi sat down and pulled up his legs up to his chest, hugging his knees against the chilly night air of the desert. Hakuryuu felt him glance his way but he didn’t say anything. In the silence, Aladdin’s question sounded more like a statement. “Is something wrong?”
His answer was immediate: “No.”
Aladdin stifled a snort, “That has got to be one of the biggest lies I’ve ever heard.” He reached forward, plucking something out from the air under Hakuryuu’s nose, cupping it in his palms. He presented it to the dark-haired man, who stared blankly at…emptiness.
“What am I looking at?”
“Your rukh.” Aladdin said, matter-of-factly, “It’s blue.”
“You expect me to believe something I can’t even—”
Light flickered between the magi’s slim fingers and the unmistakable glow of a spirit bird materialized between them. Its normally glimmering white was replaced by a forlorn indigo shine, like the sea’s waves in the middle of a cloudy night.
“—see…” Hakuryuu finished lamely.
“You’ve been around me long enough to know what this means,” Aladdin blew on the rukh, sending it fluttering before dissolving on Hakuryuu’s forehead with the barest shimmer. “You’re sad.” Blue eyes scrutinized him for a second before adding: “Very.”
“Am I?” Hakuryuu asked. He wanted it to sound sarcastic, but his voice came out weaker than he’d intended. The night air felt punishing but he refrained from wrapping his arms around himself.
Aladdin frowned. “You just proved my point,” he said. The magi scooted a bit closer, worry etched in the soft lines of his face. “It’s been five years,” he began cautiously. “If this is still about… Do still feel—?”
Hakuryuu cut him off with an unnecessarily loud sigh, “I don’t, Aladdin.” He didn’t want to talk about this, not now, not when he couldn’t even think properly.
“The rukh don’t lie,” Aladdin insisted, “You still like Morgiana, I know.”
“Aladdin—”
“Please, Hakuryuu, just hear me out, I know that you feel jealous.”
He couldn’t know, he shouldn’t. There was no way he’d be telling him but for Solomon’s sake if he didn’t shut up—
“Ala—”
“We can talk things out! You can tell me anything.” The young magi barrelled on, raising his voice slightly to be heard over Hakuryuu’s complaints. “I really think you don’t want Alibaba to know—”
“That it’s Morgiana I’m jealous of and not him?” Hakuryuu finally snapped. He glared at Aladdin, too aggravated and wounded and a dozen other things he couldn’t even name to feel embarrassed. Aladdin’s lips were parted, stunned. He had asked for Hakuryuu to open up yes; he didn’t know what he was expecting, but it was certainly not this.
Hakuryuu shook his head, already regretting what he had done. “I made up my mind. I’m going in search of Judar.”
That seemed to do the trick. Aladdin blinked as if waking from a particularly unusual dream. “H-Hakuryuu, wait!” He grabbed onto the former emperor’s robes just as he was about to stand.
Exasperated, Hakuryuu shook him off and slung his pack over one shoulder. “I told you, I’ve already decided,” he straightened and turned on his heel and made to depart.
Aladdin’s next words made him stop. “D-do you not plan on telling him?”
Completely taken aback by the incredulity of the idea, Hakuryuu chuckled, bitterly. “And ruin whatever semblance of happiness he has? Why would I?”
The blue haired magi was rendered speechless. What could you possibly say to that anyway? He wanted to comfort the dark haired dungeon conqueror, but he was at loss. “But you told Morgiana… before.” He argued feebly.
“I wish you would stop comparing these two instances as if they are the same, Aladdin; they are not.” He faced him. “I appreciate your concern really, but there’s nothing more you can do. And as a last request please…”
The hard, apathetic mask slipped. Aladdin’s breath caught in his throat upon seeing Hakuryuu so vulnerable, sadness and remorse written clearly on his scarred visage. “I would appreciate if you don’t tell him any of this.”
A horrible sense of déjà vu crawled up Aladdin’s spine. This happened before: when they parted in Aktia. That time, Aladdin had failed to stop him, and when they next met, Hakuryuu had already fallen into depravity. Had Aladdin succeeded in changing Hakuryuu’s mind then, they probably would be facing a different future now. Even as a Magi, he had his limits, and there was no way he could tell if letting Hakuryuu go again would be for better or for worse. Still he tried. There was still something he had to know. “Hakuryuu… How long have you felt like this? Why didn’t you tell him before?”
That gave him a pause. “I couldn’t say for myself,” he said finally and so softly that Aladdin had to strain his ears to hear him. “Maybe I always have… But I didn’t realize. By the time I did, it was too late.” The mask was quick to return afterwards, like clouds quickly gathering before a storm. “I’ve said enough.” He gave a short nod. “Good bye Aladdin. I’ll catch up later.”
Aladdin nodded slowly in return. Indecision tore at his insides, but he knew he had to trust Hakuryuu to do what he thought best for all of them. He shouldn’t impose on his choices.  A hint of hesitation showed despite his efforts when he waved his hand. “Good bye, Hakuryuu…”
Suppressing a sneeze, Aladdin rubbed his arms, channelling a bit of heat magic to warm himself up. Furrowing his brows, he belatedly realized that it was getting late. He should get going, otherwise Alibaba would worry.
Alibaba… How would he tell him?
Lost in his thoughts, the Magi failed to notice the tear that glistened down Hakuryuu’s cheek when he turned to leave. The two parted without another word, the former pensive and the latter conflicted.
Hakuryuu stopped a few paces later when he was certain that Aladdin was far away. He couldn’t keep the mask up; he didn’t have to. A sense of uncanny familiarity filled him as he wiped at his eyes, cursing himself for crying. He gathered that the frustration he felt was similar to when he was in the Dungeon of Zagan, unable to have something that was right in front of him.
The only difference was that, in the dungeon he was able to acquire the power he so desired eventually, whereas now, the thing that his heart ached for the most was terribly close yet already so hopelessly out of his reach. He remembered something that Aladdin had said in Zagan’s dungeon: “No one would want to live in hatred and suffering. That’s why, no matter what hardships we must endure, we should think about what to do. Toward the direction of light and dazzling hope… we should move forward and keep walking. That’s the rukh’s guidance. The true meaning of fate.”
Moving forward, huh. At the moment, Hakuryuu wasn’t so sure of that. He couldn’t explain why, but through the haze of his tears, he smiled. Maybe in another life, he could have him. An unexplainable sensation overflowed in his chest then, something strange but not at all unpleasant, similar to finding something new, being hesitantly curious. Like how he felt when he first met Alibaba.
Somewhere else in Qishan, Alibaba Saluja was experiencing the exact same feeling, but he wrote it off as excitement at being newly engaged with the woman he loved.
Neither of them were anywhere near knowing that someplace else, in a world parallel but completely different from theirs, a shy little prince with a scarred face just bumped into a  boy a bit older than he was, a little boy with golden hair and a smile as bright as the sun.
