“Mom I’m home,” you spoke, as you locked the door behind you. Sliding your feet out of your shoes and hanging your jacket up, you found her.
Face lay on the table, pen in hand and eyes closed. Letters, notices, bills. Just a whole bunch of paperwork lay on the table, it’d been like this for a while. Since your dad got sick. Then he was gone.
“Mom,” you whispered, shaking her lightly. She groaned, body wriggling as she woke up, “Mom go to bed.”
“I’m awake.”
“I know, but go and rest now. I’ll put this away.”
“Are you sure?” she asked, rubbing her eyes. “Yeah.”
“How was work?”
“It was fine, the kids were golden.”
“Good I’m glad. You’ve got dinner in the microwave.”
“Thank you. Now go get some rest,” you said, kissing her cheek. “You’re such a good girl. Goodnight honey.”
“Night mom.”
And that’s how life had been for the last 18 months of your life. Just you and your mom. You sighed, walking over to the table. Stacking up the papers and putting them away.
There wasn’t much mess, your mom had been working all day and you’d been out most of the night. She was a nurse, and you had about any job you could get.
After quickly eating your dinner you picked up a few pieces of washing, swilled your plate and went up to bed. You babysat for a couple people in the neighbourhood, and sure they were fine, but one of the little ones came down with something and was near inconsolable.
Your bed was like heaven, after taking off your jeans you didn’t even bother to swap into pyjamas, falling to sleep as soon as your head hit the pillow.

“Morning mom,” you said, kissing her head as you walked passed. There was a plate of scrambled eggs and toast, along with a cup of coffee waiting for her. “Morning, where are you off too?”
“Oh I’m just about to go clean Mrs Harris’, her daughters out of town and she said she’d pay me good. Plus she’s a sweet woman so.” You mom sighed, taking a drink of her coffee.
“What did we say about taking more jobs?”
“Mom come on, it’s not a big deal. It’s just one time.”
“You said that about the babysitting and the store and the tutoring.”
“Mom-“
“You need to take care of yourself.”
“So do you. Do you have a shift today?”
“No.”
“Great, I’ll pick up some movies from Robbies work and then we can have a day together.”
“Honey,” she sighed.
“I gotta go mom, love you.”
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
“You are an Angel,” Mrs Harris smiled as you placed a mug in front of her, taking one of your own in your hands. “Thank you for doing this for me, Anna had this holiday booked for months.”
You hummed taking a sip of the drink, “I bet the kids were excited.”
“You have no idea! Bouncing off the walls telling me all about it yesterday.”
“Well the beach is exciting.”
“It is, now how about you? How’s your mom?”
“We’re good, you know,” you shrugged.
“Hm, I do know. You remind me of myself and Anna when we lost Paul,” she smiled fondly at the thought of her husband.
“We’re just trying to learn how to do this all without him.”
“Of course. I found something for you actually,” she smiled, walking to her fridge. Pulling a piece of paper from under a magnet she passed it over.
“I saw it in the grocery store, thought it’d be better than you doing 20 different jobs a week. You could just stick to 2,” she joked. It was a slip for wanted workers at a diner. Waitressing staff.
“Thank you.”
“Of course Honey, now you get going. Enjoy your day with your mom,” she smiled, nodding you took the flyer with you. “Let me know if you need me to come and clean again.”
The woman chuckled, shaking her head waving goodbye as you headed to your car. You knew the diner, you drove past it going to and from jobs, you’d just never stopped by.
You’d have to pass it on the way to Family Video anyway, so there was no harm in asking.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
It wasn’t too busy in the diner, there were people dotted around, some groups, some alone. Some eating, some not. It seemed like a great place to people watch, to see so many people from different places, with different lives.
Walking up to the counter you smiled at an older woman, crows feet by her eyes, flecks of grey through her dark hair, but her eyes shone, young and playful. “Hiya Honey what can I get for you?”
“Hi, I actually came to ask about the waitressing position, is it still available?”
“It certainly is, have you got any experience?”
“I’ve had a couple different jobs, I worked at a cafe during summer break. I’ve worked cleaning jobs, with kids, in retail.” The woman hummed, nodding, “Well the shifts would change, you’d have to do 4 or 5 a week.”
“I can do that.”
“You’d serve customers, do waitressing, help in the kitchen if needed, cleaning.”
“Of course.”
“Okay, if you leave your name and number we can call and talk about you having a test day and we’ll see how we go.”
“Thank sounds great.” She slid a writing pad and a pen across the counter to you, disappearing to refill someone’s coffee.
“Liz, order up,” you heard a male voice speak from the back.
Two plates of delicious looking food was placed on the window out to the front, but the chef themself wasn’t visible. The woman moved quickly, weaving around stools and booths, taking the plates to a couple at the far end of the diner.
You’d imagine that they’d all know each other forever, the way they spoke like old friends. The woman, Liz, made her way back over to you, taking the pen and pad back.
“We’ll give you a call,” she smiled.
“Thank you.” She nodded giving you a wink and you were on your way.
You could only hope you’d get this job, 4 or 5 shifts a week would be great, then you could have room for a couple of odd babysitting jobs and still keep the house clean for your mom. All you had to do was actually get it.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
You dried your hands with a towel, leaving the dirty dishes to air dry before you put them away. Dinner was cooking on the stove, and your mom would soon be home.
The music of your radio hummed with static, the station hiding the silence of the house. That was until the loud sound of the phone ringing overpowered it.
“Hello?” you answered.
“Hi, is this Y/N Y/L/N?”
“Speaking.”
“Hi there honey, this is Liz from the Old Bear Diner. I’m just calling about the waitressing job.”
“Right I see.”
“Well the position is yours if you want it, we’ll get you trained up.”
“What about the test day?”
“Well Mr Miller, the owner of the cafe you worked at, came here and when I mentioned you he couldn’t stop telling me how great of a worker you are.”
“That’s very kind. When would I start?”
“Wednesday if that’s possible, you’d start at 9am and finish at 5pm.” Quickly looking at the calendar you didn’t have any babysitting gigs, so it’d be perfect.
“Of course.”
“Great, I’ll be seeing you Wednesday Honey.”
“See you then.”
You couldn’t help grinning as you hung the phone back on the hook, taking dinner off the stove. Your mom found you dancing to the music on the radio, plating up your food.
“Good day?” she smiled, as you began to eat. “Mhm, definitely. How was work?”
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
Liz had shown you all the basics, how to use the till, where everything was stored, along with giving you a dark apron that sat around you waist.
“So when we have food orders, you hang them up here. Eddie will call when they’re ready, write the table numbers on the ticket if that’s easier for you,” she smiled.
“Right, is Eddie the chef?”
“Mhm, the one and only. You can also have anything off the menu for lunch, so just let him know and he’ll make it. I’ll introduce you now.”
Following her into the kitchen it was a lot of stainless steel counters, ovens, grills and deep sinks. “Eddie, got someone for you to meet,” Liz spoke, catching the taller man attention.
Turning to face you, you took him in. Dark curls, pulled back to sit in a bun at base of his neck, he was tall, lean but muscular, with tattoos dotted around his arms. His own apron sat around his waist, freckles and beauty marks decorated his face like his own personal constellation.
And his eyes, they were beautiful, like melted chocolate, you could very easily get lost in them. “Eddie this is Y/N our new waitress.”
“Nice to meet you,” you said softly, trying not to stair at the gorgeous man in front of you.
“You too. You shown her the basics?” he asked Liz. “Course I have, so be nice,” she warned, wagging her finger at him. “Always am.”
The older woman snorted, “You take that back, your uncle didn’t raise a liar.” This made Eddie smirk, smile lines and faint dimples appearing.
“Well we’ve got customers to serve, come on Honey.”
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
Working at the diner was strangely something you looked forward to, something you enjoyed. Your mom wasn’t over the moon about it, worrying that you’d work yourself to sickness.
You were okay, you’d do your shifts go home, help around the house, spend time with your mom and still had time to do your babysitting gig. It worked out quite well.
“Morning Honey,” Liz smiled as you pushed through the door, “Morning.” You headed to the back, hanging up your jacket and your bag, tying your apron around your waist.
You walked past the kitchen, “Morning Eddie,” you called as you went, receiving a grunt of acknowledgment in return. He seemed nice enough, grumpy, but nice and beautiful - but you wouldn’t tell him that.
The diner was a 24 hour one so customers were already dotted around, it was a weekday so it was a lot of people travelling through, especially truckers.
“These are for table 4,” Liz smiled, handing you 2 warm drinks, nodding you went on your way. “Morning, I’ve got two hot chocolate.”
“Thank you,” an older man said, the younger one with him smiling slightly.
“Can I get you anything else?” you asked.
“Could we order some hot food?”
“Sure, let me just get a pad. I’ll be right back.”
Walking around the diner had become like a dance now, bouncing around the tables and chairs, back and fourth to the counter. “Eddie order for table 4,” you said, sticking the paper under a magnet.
Another grunt in acknowledgment, as the ticket was pulled down and into the kitchen.
“Morning Y/N,” a familiar voice spoke.
“Mr Connors, good morning. What can I get for you?”
“A tea for Cynthia,” he said, smiling over at his wife, “And a coffee for me.”
“I’ll bring them over.” The older man nodded, making his way to sit across the booth from his wife.
“25 years they’ve been coming here, and every time it’s like their first date all over again,” Liz said, sighing dreamily.
“Are you married?”
“Mhm, coming up to 15 years. Got a couple kids too, they mean the world to me. How about you Honey you got someone?”
You shook your head, “Now that does surprise me.”
“Why’s that?”
“I mean, look at you. You’re pretty girl.”
“Thank you,” you said shyly, “Honestly I’m just too busy.”
She nodded, filling up a mug with warm coffee and another with tea you heard an order called. “Order up.”
“I’ll take the drinks, you take the orders,”Liz said, sliding the mugs from the counters.
“Is this all of it?” you called over to Eddie, he turned half way so you could see the side of his face. He nodded and you moved quickly, feeling your face flush. Hoping that chatting with customers would take your mind off the beautiful man through the other room.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
“I’ll see you later Liz,” you waved to the older woman, “Oh hang on Honey, I’ve got something to ask you.” You stopped in your tracks, car keys in hand.
“Do you think you could do the night shift on Friday?”
“I’ll have to check my calendar when I get home, I’ll call and let you know.”
“Okay, thanks Hun, you have a good night.”
You hadn’t done a night shift yet, Liz did a couple a week and Eddie seemed to live there, often taking doubles. Speaking of Eddie you raised your hand to wave goodbye, as he took a drag from his cigarette.
Nodding your way he let out a breath of smoke, sitting himself down on an old crate at the door. You climbed into your car and we’re on your way.
“Mom,” you called out when you entered the house. It was strangely quiet, her car was on the drive so she must be here. Hanging up your bag and jacket, you slid your shoes off.
Your feet padded across the floor, finding your mom on the couch. Her eyes closed, her chest moving up and down gently. “Mom?” you said softly, placing a hand on her shoulder.
She was burning up, “Mom, come on let’s get you to bed.” She groaned as you helped her up, eyes barely opening as you took her to her room. “I’ll be back I’m just getting you some water.”
Taking a glass from the side of her bed you went to the bathroom, filling it with water and grabbing her some medication from the cupboard. “Here you go mom,” you said, helping her sit up.
Closing the curtains, the room was almost in darkness. “Was work okay?” she croaked out. “Yeah it was fine, they’ve asked me to do a night shift on Friday, gotta check the calendar.”
“You go do that honey, I’ll be okay.”
“Okay. You rest up, I’ll come and check on you later.” The woman hummed softly, snuggling down under her blanket and resting her head on the pillow.
Luckily Friday was free and you could take the shift, and your mom was off so she could rest and and get rid of whatever sickness this was. Dialling the number for the diner you waited for a few rings, a voice finally appearing.
“Old Bear Diner, how can I help?”
“Hi Eddie, it’s Y/N.”
“Oh hello, you alright?”
“Yeah was just calling to tell Liz I can do the Friday night shift.”
“Right, I’ll let her know.”
“Thank you.”
“Hm. See you Friday.”
“See you.” After hanging up you pressed your hand to your chest, how could a 20 second conversation do this to you.
You couldn’t even see him, it was just his voice. Dear god his voice. Get it together. He’s just a hot guy at work, would you find him hot outside of work? Probably not.
Okay that’s a total lie - grumpy metal head. Yes please.
You groaned placing your forehead on the cold wall, suddenly feeling the need for a hot shower.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
“Are you sure you’re gonna be okay?”
“Honey go to work, it’s just a cold.”
“Fine, but you’ll call if you need me?”
“Of course I will now shift it, you’re going to be late,” your mom said, pulling you to the door.
“Drive safe, I love you.”
“Love you mom.”
Arriving at the diner it was already busy, but that made sense for a Friday night. You parked your car up and went in through the back, not wanting to squeeze your way past the customers.
Eddie was there, standing on a cigarette he was clearly finished with. “Hey,” you said.
“Hello.” He held the door open for you, letting you duck under his arm. You held your breath as you did so. How did he smell so nice?
“Is Liz here?” you asked.
“It’s her anniversary, so night off. So it’s us, May and Chris.” You hummed, May was older than you and Eddie, but Chris was around the same age.
“Okay well I’m gonna go and get sorted.” He hummed, heading back to the kitchen, but watching you go first. Soon enough you were out on the counter saying a quick hello to May and Chris.
“Evening,” the man smiled, dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. “How’s it going?”
“You know,” you shrugged. He looked like he was going to continue, but a group of teens sat down at a booth.
“I’ll go and sort them,” you smiled, grabbing a pad and pen from the counter. “Hiya guys what can I get for you?” And so the shift began.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
It was busy, manic even. When one table was dealt with another three seemed to need your attention. By 11pm your feet were burning. “Y/N, you can have your break now honey,” May spoke.
“You sure?”
“Mhm, grab something to eat, have a drink.”
Your shift would end at 5am, so keeping your energy was important. Nodding you headed to the kitchen, grabbing a bottle of water as you went.
Eddie turned slightly to see who was coming in, “Order?”
“Just mine.”
“What can I get for you?”
“Just some fries please.”
The man raised a brow at you,”That’s all you want?”
“Mhm.” He nodded, turning back to the grill, there were no tickets so it shouldn’t take too long. You opened your bottle of water, taking a swig.
“Go sit, I’ll bring it over.”
“You sure?”
“Do you know you ask that question about 50 times in a shift. I’m sure, go rest.”
You chuckled, pushing back into the main area, taking a seat on the furthest table. You head rested on your folded arms on the table, closing your eyes.
There was the faint sound of music playing from a jukebox, chatter, the sizzling of pans in the kitchen. It had become a soothing sound, a sound you were used too.
A few minutes passed, lightly dozing as you sat there. A hand pressed on your shoulder, “Hey.” Eddie.
“I’m awake.”
“I can see that. Eat up.” You rubbed your eyes, looking at the food on the table.
There was fries and a burger, “I only asked for-“
“I know. But you’re also falling asleep, so you need the energy. Eat up,” he said, offering you a tight lipped smile.
“Thank you.”
“Mhm. Eat.” You nodded, taking one of the fries, Eddie left you to it. Turning you head to watch him, you saw his eyes already on you.
Both of you looked away quickly, faces flushing. You tried to focus on your food, your shift would soon be over, then you wouldn’t see Eddie for a few days.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
It was finally the end of your shift and you were dead on your feet, you had no idea how the others did it. You threw your apron into your bag, sliding on your jacket and getting your car keys.
“See you later,” you waved to Liz who’d just arrived. “You get some rest Honey.” Heading out the back, you were met by Eddie, he stood by the wall smoking a cigarette.
“You heading out?” he asked.
“Mhm, I’ll see you Monday,” you replied, heading towards your car, feet heavy and eyes sore. “Y/N hang on.”
You turned to see Eddie, he threw the cigarette butt to the ground, “You’re dead on your feet, let me give you a ride.”
“It’s fine Eddie.”
“No it’s not, you look like you’re gonna fall asleep at the wheel. Come on we can even take your car, if you trust me.”
“Sure, but are you-“ he cut you off.
“Honestly, I’m sure. I don’t want you getting hurt. Now key,” he said, holding out his hand. You dropped them into his large palm without another word, heading to the passenger side.
“So where are we headed?” Eddie asked, you mumbled out your address, “Not too far then.”
“No not really. You really don’t have to do this.”
“Sweetheart, honestly it’s not a big deal.”
Holy fuck. Sweetheart. Oh my god. Your half asleep brain couldn’t deal with this.
“W-what about your van?”
“I’ll just walk back and pick it up, no big deal.”
“Eddie-“
“Shush.”
You sighed, knowing you weren’t going to win this fight. You sat quietly, it wasn’t awkward it was nice. It was a comfortable silence. Resting your head against the window, you heard Eddie pull out from the diner.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
“Hey, Sweetheart, wake up.” Eddies soft tone brought you back. “I’m awake.” A light chuckle came out, “I know you are. You’re home.”
Looking up you were parked outside your house, “Thank you,” you said.
“Anytime.” The pair of you climbed out of your car, Eddie placing the keys back in your hand.
“You get some rest okay?”
“Okay,” you mumbled, looking at your feet. “Sweetheart, seriously,” he lifted your face softly with his fingers, holding it so you’d meet his eye.
“How many jobs have you done this week?”
“Well … I did a couple shifts at the diner, then I babysat Holly Wheeler, then I helped out at the green grocers. That’s about it.”
“And then you’ve been coming home and cleaning? Making dinner?”
“My mom can’t do it all alone.”
“You don’t have to do it all either, you’re gonna make yourself sick.”
“I’m fine.”
“Seriously you need to rest. I’m gonna tell Liz to swap your Monday shift okay?”
“No! Eddie please I’m fine.”
“But you’re not.”
“I need the money, I need to help my mom.”
“Your mom is the parent this can’t all be on you.” You felt anger bubbling up in your stomach, an emotion you’ve never felt towards Eddie.
“Well hospital bills don’t pay themselves, my dads care won’t pay itself off. I need to help her or we loose everything and I won’t do that. So think what you want, but if I don’t work at the diner on Monday I’ll find somewhere else,” you said, pulling your face away from his hand.
“Thanks for the ride,” you slinked passed him, unlocking the front door, not even looking behind you as you went in.
“Shit,” the curly haired boy said to himself.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
You were back in the diner for your Monday shift, and maybe Eddie was right, maybe you were making yourself sick. On Saturday night you babysat some kids down the street. Then on Sunday you helped clean Mrs Harris’ house again, then came home to do your own.
“Order up,” Eddie called from the kitchen, you walked over taking the plates. “It’s for table 7.” You hummed in acknowledgement, heading over to the group.
It was 4 men, older than your mother, but younger than Liz. They seemed to be businessmen, you didn’t have a lot of those passing through here.
“I’ve got the waffles and bacon,” you spoke, sliding the plate in front of one of them. “Blueberry pancakes.” Another man raised his hand, “I’ll be back with yours in a second.”
“Take all the time you need Sweetcheeks,” one of the man said, his voice was sickly and you could feel his eyes on your behind as you walked back to the counter. You skin crawled at the feeling.
“Is this the last of it for 7?” You asked Eddie.
“Yeah, that’s all. You okay?” He questioned, you could see his furrowed brows through the window. “Yeah, fine.”
Turning you headed back to the men, “I’ve got scrambled eggs, bacon and hashbrowns.” You placed the plate down as quickly as you could without throwing it at the man. “And here’s the Old Bear special,” you said, to the creepy man.
“Thanks Sweetcheeks.”
“Can I get you anything else?”
“How about a top up?” he said, shaking his empty coffee cup. “Sure.”
Grabbing the jug of freshly brewed coffee you, took the mans mug, along with the others at the table, filling them up. “Can I get you anything else?” Please say no.
“Actually, I’d love a piece of you,” the man smirked, grabbing you by the waist and pulling you to him. This caused you to panic dropping the coffee jug, the glass exploded everywhere and the hot liquid splashed your skin.
“You stupid girl!” The man exclaimed, throwing himself from the booth, his lap covered in the scalding liquid. “I-I’m so sorry!” you exclaimed.
“How stupid can you be! You burnt me! You absolute fool!”
“What’s going on over here?” Liz asked.
“This stupid waitress spilt hot coffee all over me and my breakfast, I demand that she’s fired!”
“I only dropped the coffee because you grabbed me!” you shouted.
“You stupid bitch! I’ll grab you alright,” the man launched for your throat, but was stopped by a hand around the back of his shirt.
“Get out,” Eddie said in his ear, his tone deadly, his eyes unblinking. “Me? She’s the one who-“
“You come in, you assault my staff and she panics, that’s your fault. You want to press charges go for it, but I doubt your wife will be happy when she finds out you’re trying to get with other women.”
“You asshole.”
“Get out of my diner, all of you. Before I show you how much you’ve pissed me off.”
The four men scrambled out, falling over each other as they went.
“Are you alright Honey?” Liz asked, wrapping her arm around your shoulder.
“Yeah, yeah I’m fine. I’ll uh, go and get a broom and the mop.”
“Oh no Honey I’ll do it.”
“It’s fine, it’s my fault.”
“No. Don’t even think that,” Eddie spoke up, walking over to you, “It was that assholes fault. You’re going home.”
“W-what no!”
“Yes, well actually you’re going to the hospital to get your arm checked.”
You looked down, not even realising the burning sensation on your right arm. It was covered in hot coffee. “I have a shift to finish.”
“Fine, I’ll drive you there now. Liz, you and James will be okay right?” he asked.
“Sure and if not, I’ll call Chris or May or Connie.”
“Great, come on get your stuff, let’s go.” Eddie led you out the back, holding your things in his hand, another on the small of your back.
“We’ll take my van okay, we can pick up your car later,” Eddie spoke. You just nodded, not really having any words to say. Climbing up, you took your bag and jacket from him, placing it by your feet.
“You okay?” he asked.
“I’m fine.” Minus the humiliation, the burning on your arm, being assaulted by a man, and you know probably losing the best job you’ve ever had - yeah you were great.
“Sweetheart, hey. It’s okay, you’re alright.” Eddies hands touched your cheeks, wiping away at tears you didn’t even know had been falling. “I’m so sorry,” you sniffled.
“What on earth for? None of that was your fault!” he stated.
“But I could’ve just-“
“Sweetheart he was a slime ball who hasn’t got any in years cause his wife thinks he’s gross. It’s not your fault that he doesn’t know how to behave when a pretty girl is around.”
Pretty.
“I’m just sorry. I really liked working here.”
“Liked? You leaving or something?” he asked. “I thought that after that I’d - well you wouldn’t want me to work there anymore.”
“You’re like my favourite person at this place, if I had it my way you’d go nowhere.”
“I don’t want to leave.” He leaned over and squeezed your good hand, “Then don’t, except right now because you need a doctor.”
You huffed a laugh, and Eddie pulled away, started up the truck and you were on the way.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
Walking into the ER, it wasn’t overly busy, and Eddie led you to a seat. “Stay here I’ll get us some help,” he said. You nodded as he went to the desk, speaking to the nurse sat behind it.
The nurse.
Oh man.
Your mom.
“What’s the name?”
“Y/N Y/L/N.”
“What?”
“Y/N Y/L/N,” Eddie repeated. Your mom stood up walking around the desk, eyes meeting yours.
“Baby! What happened,” she said, rushing to your side. “I’m okay mom, just an accident at work.”
“Well thank goodness you came here. Let’s get you fixed up.”
It would probably get her in trouble, but she didn’t care, pulling you through to an examination room. Eddie followed you through, standing at the door.
“So I’m gonna clean it up and wrap it, we’ve got some creams at home to help.”
“I’m okay mom.”
“Thank you for bringing her in,” she spoke to Eddie. “Oh yeah of course.”
“So you work together?” she asked.
“Mhm, yeah Eddies the cook and uh the owner.”
“Well it’s nice to meet you Eddie.”
“You too ma’am.”
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
“I can finish early, take you home,” Your mom said. “It’s fine I’m okay.”
“I’ll drive her, can bring your car by later.”
“You sure?”
“Positive.”
“What a sweet boy. Now go, my shift ends at 4.”
“Okay.”
Your mom pressed a kiss to your head, saying goodbye to the pair of you. Sat in the van, Eddie spoke, “Your mom seems nice.”
“Mhm, she is.”
“I can see why you want to look after her.”
“I’m sorry I snapped at you the other day.”
“I deserved it.”
“You didn’t, how were you supposed to know.”
“I should have backed off, I am sorry about your dad though.”
“Yeah me too, but you know we’re getting by.” He nodded, and sighed before talking, “Sweetheart, I know you’ll hate me for this, but I can’t let you come back to work until that arm heals up a bit okay?”
“Okay,” you whispered.
“But as soon as you’re good to come back, you can.”
“Thank you Eddie.”
“Of course.”
The drive to your house wasn’t a long one, and your arm wasn’t tingling anymore. “Thank you for today,” you said to Eddie.
“It’s okay, uh feel free to say no, but do you want some company?”
“Don’t you have to get back to the diner?”
“I’m the boss, I can go back whenever. So company?” You smiled, nodding, allowing him to follow you into the house.
“Your house is lovely,” he smiled.
“Thank you, uh get comfy, I’m just going to change.” You motioned to the lounge, as you headed to your room, wanting to get out of your work attire.
Changing into sweats and a short sleeve tee, you returned to find Eddie looking at photos dotted around the place. “That was the first vacation we ever went on,” you smiled.
You were stood between your parents, all of you had snowboards, thick coats and pants along with huge boots. You grinned a cheesy smile, a few teeth missing due to your age. Your parents were smiling too, laughing at your enthusiasm.
“You were cute,” Eddie nodded.
“Were?” you joked, but Eddies ears went pink. “I’m not saying you’re not cute now! You’re beautiful! I just mean that-“ You laughed, “Eds I’m teasing.”
The man smiled, face flushed, “You, Sweetheart, are a pain.”
“Hm, sure. Want to watch a movie?” you asked. “Yeah that sounds great.”
“I’ll go make some popcorn.”
I’ve got it, just tell me where it is.”
“I can do it.”
“Seriously, we don’t need another trip to the ER, what would your mother think of me?”
You rolled your eyes at him, making the man chuckle and leave to go to the kitchen. “It’s in the cupboard above the microwave,” you called to him.

The boy looked down, feeling a soft weight on his shoulder. They were half way through Return of the Jedi when he felt it. Looking down his stomach fluttered.
She looked so peaceful, her eyelashes kissing her skin, her chest rising and falling softly. Her hand didn’t look so red and sore now, her mom had done a great job. Soft breaths left the girl as she fell into a deeper sleep.
The curly haired man couldn’t help but smile, resting his own head on hers, letting his eyes fall shut.

You felt a comforting warmth beneath your cheek, rising and falling. A hand on your waist and a chin on your head. Shit. You’d fallen asleep.
Looking up slightly, you saw Eddie dozing away. He looked so cute. So calm. “Eddie,” you whispered. “Hm?” he mumbled.
“Eddie.”
“What’s wrong?” he said, voice deep and grumbly from sleep.
It was the sexiest thing you’d ever heard.
“We fell to sleep.”
“So?” You laughed at the sleepy boy, letting your head stay on his chest. “See, isn’t that bad is it?” he said.
“No, apart from the fact my mom is definitely home and has seen us.”
“I should probably go then,” he mumbled into your hair. “You don’t have to.”
“I know, but I need to check on the diner.”
You nodded, pushing up off of him, leading him to the front door. “Thank you for today.”
“Of course, I hope you don’t mind if I call to check how you’re doing.”
“Not at all, I mean you could drop by if you want.”
“Well I have to bring your car back so, yeah. I’ll see you tomorrow then.”
“I’ll see you,” you smiled softly. The man raised a hand, walking to his van.
Shit, you couldn’t let him go.
“Eddie!” you called, jogging over, feet cold on the concrete beneath. “What is it?” he asked, concern in his eyes.
“Um, I just,” you began, but stood on your tiptoes, pressing your lips to his plush ones. They were warm and soft and made your stomach burst. “I’ll see you tomorrow,” you whispered.
“I’ll see you,” he smiled.

Home Sweet Home
Characters:
Eddie Diaz x Female!Reader
Summary:
The reader and Eddie are living in together with Christopher. You just got home and saw Eddie sleeping in the couch, waiting for you.
Nothing but fluff and sweet conversations
A/N:
I haven’t written anything in a while. Let’s see if I still have it lol!
It’s been a long day for you.
You finished a lot of works today and all you wanted is to crash into the bed and have the best sleep you can get before another long day tomorrow.
You went inside the house and upon opening the light, you saw Eddie lying on the couch, peacefully sleeping.
A smile immediately formed in your lips.
You put down your keys and your bag by the rocking chair and you approached your sleeping boyfriend.
It’s been 2 years since you two met.
There was a huge fire that took place in the hotel you used to work at. You got trapped in one of the guest's rooms because you were trying to rescue one of the guests too. Good thing the firefighters from 118 came to rescue you, and it was Eddie who saved you when you were almost hit by a falling debris.
You owe your life to Eddie.
If it weren't for him, you wouldn't be where you are today.
A few days after the fire, he checked up on you to see you're okay and that you're not experiencing any trauma. Then he went back again after a week, not to just check on you but to get your number. Since the day he got your number, the two of you are constantly exchanging messages.
Until one day, he finally asked you out, and the rest was history.
"Hey," you gently caressed his cheeks to wake him up.
His eyes slowly flicker and when he saw you, he got up and sat down on the couch, "I fell asleep while I was waiting for you."
You sat down beside him, "Yeah, I noticed that."
"You worked pretty late today," he said as he stretched his arms.
"We had a lot of issues today with our upcoming group, so I had to stay and negotiate with them. Good thing I'm finally home," you answered.
He wrapped his arms around you and hugged you as warm as he could make you feel, "Yeah, you're home. Chris was actually waiting for you too, but I guess he fell asleep." You felt Eddie kissed your head, "I guess I'm not the only one who misses you."
"Aww, I miss you and Chris too,” you answered as you rest your hand on top of his chest.
This is what made you so excited to come home — to feel secured and happy in the arms of your boyfriend. Ever since you two moved in together, you stopped experiencing nightmares that you’ve been experiencing since you were a kid. And every single time you wake up in the morning, your heart is filled with so much love just by seeing Eddie and Chris.
“By the way,” Eddie faces you but his arms are still wrapped around you, “It’s my off this weekend. I’m planning to take you and Christopher out.”
“That sounds like a nice plan to me,” you answered with a smile on your face.
“Are you sure you’re okay to go out with us? I’m worried you might have to work this weekend, given the circumstances you’re dealing with right now,” he said.
You cupped his right cheeks and assured him that it’s totally okay, “I’m off this weekend too anyways. Plus, I’ve been wanting to go out with you and Chris. I can’t even remember the last time we went out, just the three of us.”
“How ‘bout on Monday?”
“On Monday?” your brows furrowed in confusion, “Chris has school, right?”
“Yeah, but I’m talking about just the two of us,” he said. “I mean, the three of us are already going out this weekend, so I’m wondering if we can have Monday just for the two of us. Like, after we drop Christopher off his school, we can go somewhere, then we’ll pick him up in the afternoon afterwards.”
“I mean, I can take a day off on Monday too, but are you sure you want to go out on Monday? Just the two of us?” you asked.
He grabbed your hand and smiles at you, “Why not? It’s only fair to have some quality time for both of us, right?”
In all honesty, you are excited for some quality time with Eddie.
It’s been a long time since the two of you dated, because the two of you will always think of Christopher first. After all, you promised to each other that Christopher will be part and the top priority of your relationship.
“Sure,” you replied. “So where are you taking me?”
He winked at you, “That’s for me to know and for you to find out.”
“God, you are so full of surprises!” you commented.
Your relationship with Eddie has been both a blessing and a gift. He’s been there with you, through the ups and downs of your life, through thick and thin, through turns and twists. It was like he completed the real meaning of “love” in your life. And there’s no other person you would rather take the risk of falling in love than him.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” he suddenly asked you, not knowing that you’ve been staring at him.
You shook your head as you fix his hair and gave him a smile.
Well, you know your boyfriend too well. He’s not gonna take that as an answer, “Come on, tell me.”
“I just realized how damn lucky I am,” you confessed and you felt his hands on top of yours, “All my life I’ve been looking for someone who could finally understand me, who could love me and teach me to love myself even better. I’m so glad I finally found you.”
“No,” he kissed the back of your hand and gave you a reassuring smile, “I found my way to you. Right from the moment I saved you, my heart already knew you weren’t just a stranger that I needed to save. I had a hard time forgetting you, so I stopped trying to forget you instead, I accepted the truth that you are someone I won’t be forgetting.”
“I know I’m hard to forget,” you joked.
Eddie chuckles, “I have no plans of forgetting you,” he extended his arms around you and pulled you towards his chest, “You’re stuck with me, whether you like it or not.”
“I have no plans of resisting,” you answered.

The Aftermath
Summary: In which you left the backlash get to you after revealing your relationship with Ni-ki to the public.
Idol!Riki x Non-Idol!Reader
Warnings: angst, starvation
Broski’s ngl this was kind of rushed.
How did this happen? How did it all so quickly go downhill?
Your thoughts were all over the place as you watch all the threats and horrible comments fill your DMs. Tears well up in your eyes as you read through them.
“There’s no way Riki would go out with someone like you”
“Honestly he probably just pity’s her. I mean she looks like a pig”
“Honestly how disappointing”
This was the aftermath of you and Riki officially revealing your relationship to the public. You thought you had mentally prepared yourself for the backlash, but it seems you thought wrong.
It’s not like there were no supporters. You both had received lots of love and support. However, when looking at a blank white wall with that one singular black dot, you would notice the imperfection of the black dot first right? That how it is now. Despite all the support you can’t help but mind the toxicity being thrown your way.
You find yourself getting up from the comfort of your bed and looking the mirror. Lifting up your shirt and taking note of your bloated stomach from your lunch you just had. You can’t help but list off all your own imperfections on your body.
“Maybe it’d be better to skip dinner today..”
The next morning Riki rushes to get ready and head to your house as he wanted to hang out with you. Knocking on your door, you answer it. “Riki! You came early” you exclaimed, wrapping your arms around his shoulders bringing him in for a hug. He reciprocates the gesture, kissing your forehead before walking inside. “Well I missed you, and also wanted to see how you were doing after revealing everything to the world.” He doesn’t miss the way you smile falters for a split second.
You put your hands behind your back and start fidgeting with them. “Oh well I’m fine, honestly.” You look down. “Are you sure? You know you can talk to me.” He steps closer to you but you bring your face back up with a huge smile as if nothing’s wrong. “Yeah! Of course I’m fine. Anyway what did you want to do? We have the whole morning to ourselves before you have practice. Let’s not waste it by standing here!” You state successfully changing the subject.
“Well I was hoping we could go out for breakfast together. You know let me treat you this morning.” Riki says as he comes up behind you. The thought of going out in public with him right now sends shivers down your spine. Not only that, but going out to eat. If anyone spots you two the comments would probably get worse.
“Uh, no thanks I’m not really feeling like it right now, plus I already had a smoothie before you came.” You quickly said as you gestured towards your empty cup on the counter. Riki’s face dropped in confusion. “What? Only a smoothie” he couldn’t believe you. “Oh Come on, you and I both know I don’t have much of an appetite on the morning anyway. How about instead we go painting. It’s been a while since we’ve done that together.” You reply to him with a smile and walk away. “I’m gonna go change real quick!”. Leaving the boy stunned and even more confused. While it’s true you don’t have much of an appetite in the morning normally you’d never decline an offer like that so quickly. What’s going on?
Unfortunately it kept going on like that for a couple of days. You trying to skip meals to be someone worthy of his love. And him trying to figure out why you’re avoiding him taking you out. That is until one day.
Riki wanted to surprise you since he got off practice early. So he came to your home with roses in hand and used the spare key you gave him to come him. At first he didn’t see or hear you. As he walked around he found your bathroom door open. He could see your figure standing in front of the mirror. Before he could come up to you, in the mirror he saw you were..crying?
“God what am I doing wrong?!” You yelled out. He noticed you were looking down at something. Moving a bit closer he saw you were on top of a scale. Weighing yourself. But why? Was all the blonde boy could think of.
You stepped off the scale and turned to the mirror slightly lifting you shirt to show your stomach. “Why can’t you just go away. How can you expect to keep him when you look like this.” You yell at yourself. Seeing you like this broke his heart. Why are you doing this to yourself? How could you say all these bad things when he sees you perfect the way you are?
He’s had enough of hearing your sobs and walks toward you. You don’t notice him until you feel a pair of arms wrap around your waist. Causing you to flinch harshly, almost elbowing him in the gut before making eye contact with him on the mirror. “Riki!” You stare in disbelief and quickly wipe your tears, doing a poor job at it by the way. “Whe- why are you here? Don’t you have practice?” You question as you turn around in his arms facing him but not quite looking at him.
“You should’ve told me you were coming, I would’ve made myself more presentabl-“ “Y/N.” He cut you off. Your body stiffened from his tone. Scared at what he might say next. He stared at your shaking body. Tears stained on your face. His own eyes couldn’t help but tear up seeing the love of his life in such a state. “How long?”
Oh… That question. The one you wish you didn’t have to answer. “Riki I-“
“How long? Please, just tell me”
The crack in his voice caused you to look up at him, and see the way so many emotions swirl in his eyes. Sadness, anger, but most importantly. Concerned. Who wouldn’t be. You look down and sigh. “Since we opened up about our relationship”. You felt his grip on you tighten as he pulls you in for a big, tight hug. You can’t help but let more tears go as your body starts shaking again.
“Why didn’t you say anything? You know you can talk to me.” He stammered out. This was his fault. He thought. He should’ve payed more attention. He should’ve been there for you, to comfort you. “I’m so sorry I didn’t notice sooner.”
Now you were confused. “This isn’t your fault Riki. I just really wanted to be someone who you looked good with.” “What are you talking about?” He pulled back. “You look amazing just the way you are. I fell in love with you for so many reasons one of them being because I think you’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.”
You stared up at him in awe from his confession. “B-but the fans, they-“ “is that what this is about. Because of toxic fans.” He grabbed your arms and turned you around towards the mirror. “You know what I see right now. I see my talented, beautiful girlfriend in the mirror. Despite her tears and messy hair I still can’t help but love her because she’s that mesmerizing.” He Remarked. You face heats up, “Riki stop-“ you try to say before you get cut off Again. “No. You need to hear this”
“Y/N, I love you. No one else gets to decide that for me. Not the fans, not the company, not even you. I decide that because it’s my life, my decision. I saw you and I’ve only wanted to get to know you. To talk to you. To hold you. To love you. And that’s never going to change.”
At this point you’re both crying in each others arms. “Please never forget that. Fuck everyone else, they’re all jealous assholes who have nothing better to do.” Riki snapped out. You couldn’t help but let out a giggle from his statement.
Riki’s heart fluttered from hearing that. “There she is. I missed that smile. The genuine one. The one that stole my heart in the first place.” He smiled smiled and turned you back around towards him. “Now please, promise me you’ll take care of yourself, and talk to me when you need someone.”
You nod your head and look into his eyes. “I promise.” He lets a sigh and brings you into a big hug.
How could you be so blind. You were so focused on other people’s opinions on your relationship you forgot to take notice of the most important one. “I love you” you whispered. At first you thought you said it too quietly for him to notice until his arms tightened around him you. “I love you more.”

Caught
Panic came over Fiona when she awoke that morning, finding herself in a bedroom that was not her own. Slivers of sunlight streamed in between the closed curtains, the sounds of soft breathing beside her made her instantly remember last night’s events.
“Fuck,” she said quietly. “Fuck. Colin, get up.” He stirred somewhat, mumbling incoherently. She shoved him. “Get up!”
“The fuck do you want?” He groaned, rubbing at his eyes.
“It’s morning, you fucking idiot,” she whispered furiously.
He held her thigh, still looking sleepy. “Calm down.”
“Oh, yeah. That’s what every woman wants to hear,” she snarked.
“Everyone’s probably still asleep,” Colin said, ignoring that. “Just go out the front door.”
“And if they’re not?”
“I don’t fucking know,” Colin shrugged. “It’s too damn early to think right now.”
She rolled her eyes. Sliding out of bed, she pulled her underwear and bra on, staying as quiet as she possibly could.
“You looked better without them on,” came Colin’s smart ass remark as she looked around for her shirt.
“One more remark like that and you’ll never see my tits again,” she said, to which he held his hands up, smirking. “Now where the hell’s my shirt?”
“Hey, hey,” Colin waved a hand to get her attention, then pointed at his dresser. “Over there.”
She turned, eyebrows furrowing, spotting it laying atop the dresser. “I didn’t put this here.”
“I did,” he said, the blanket falling down to his abdomen, “when I got up to piss.”
She narrowed her eyes. “And what time was that?”
He shrugged. “Four or whatever. I don’t know.”
“And you didn’t wake me?” She said, incredulous.
“You seemed like you needed it.” A grin spread over his face. “Plus, you get kinda bitchy when you’re tired.”
She rolled her eyes, pulling the shirt over her head. “Fuck you.”
They had this thing going on for a while now. A thing that neither one of them brought up to properly define. It was more fucking, for sure, but they were both wary after so many shitty attempts at relationships. Best to just take it slow and see where it took them.
“You did plenty of that last night,” Colin said smoothly. She paused, taking in the hickeys she’d left along his bare shoulder.
“Shit,” she said with a slight laugh. “Sorry about that.”
“You hear me complainin’?” Colin’s gaze slid over her body appreciatively. And it didn’t feel like the way those sleazy guys at work did. Come to think of it, nothing with Colin ever resembled any of the guys she’d been with before. Fuck, is she actually fallin’ for a Milkovich? “You got work today?”
“Not ‘till later,” she replied, buttoning her jeans. “Why?”
He didn’t respond right away, making her look up. It might just be a trick of the light, but Fiona thought he might actually be blushing.
“It’s fucking stupid,” he said. “Never mind.”
“No, what is it?” she said curiously.
Colin rubbed the side of his nose, reminding her of the way she’d seen Mickey rub his eyebrow in the few instances they were in each other’s presence. Must have been a Milkovich thing. “If you were hungry,” he said, trying to come off as indifferent, “I know this cheap diner we could go to.”
Her eyebrows flew up. “You’re askin’ me out to breakfast?”
The question made him uncomfortable. “You said you wanted more than just fucking.”
“Yeah,” she said, surprising herself with how much she did want it, “yeah. I did.”
“Is that a yes, then?” Colin asked. She saw beneath his exterior that she was actually hopeful, and that just wasn’t something she was used to seeing on a Milkovich.
She toyed with her hair, making it look a bit more presentable and less disheveled. “Look, I would if I had the money. But I’ve got the electric to think about it-”
“Don’t worry about it,” Colin cut her off. “I got enough for both of us.”
“I can’t ask you to do that,” she shook her head.
“You didn’t ask. I’m offering,” he sat up now, the blanket pooling in his lap. “And if you really want to pay me back, then you can always give me a blow job-”
He broke out into soft laughter when she gave him an unamused look.
“You’re a jackass.”
“I’m kidding,” he assured her, still chuckling. “But I wasn’t kidding about paying. You can pay next time if you want.”
“You’re already thinking about a next time, huh?” Fiona smiled, despite that nagging twinge telling her to reconsider. Sue her. She fuckin’ liked him. “Alright. Fine, you can pay. But this place better have good coffee.”
He grinned. It was a damn good smile too. She briefly wished he did it more often.
“I don’t know what I’m supposed to tell the kids, though,” she said thoughtfully. They’ll be awake soon enough and notice that she’s not there.
“Nothing if you move fast enough,” Colin swung his legs over the edge of the bed, reaching for the pair of shorts closests to him. Her eyes were drawn to his bare upper half, watching the muscles in his back flex as he bent down to find a t-shirt to throw on.
“You’re a fucking creep, Gallagher,” came Colin’s teasing voice, snapping her out of her thoughts.
Fuck, she was busted.
“I saw you staring,” Colin was looking at her again, smirking. “You like what you see?”
“There’s not much to see,” she replied, going that route instead of acknowledging that his question had made her face feel unusually warm.
“That what you’re going with, Sweetheart?” Colin stood to his full height, pushing the curtains open.
“Don’t call me that,” Fiona rolled her eyes. She was going to start walking out but Colin had other ideas; he wrapped a strong arm around her waist, gently pulling her back. Her hair was pushed out of the way, giving him access to her neck. She pressed her lips together, fighting the urge to squirm. Fuck, he knew just where to go. “Hey, if you want to have breakfast, I’ll have go home and freshen up.”
“Hang on,” he mumbled in between kisses.
“I swear to God if you give me a fucking hickey, Milkovich, I’ll rip your dick off.”
“That’s kinda turning me on, not gonna lie...”
“Oh my God,” she muttered, and he huffed out a laugh. She lightly shoved him away. “I’m gettin’ out of here before your brothers or Mandy wake up.”
“They won’t be up this early, trust me.”
The two of them crept out of Colin's room. The rest of the house was silent, much to Fiona’s relief. She didn’t need anyone seeing them. The last thing she wanted to do was explain what all this was between them.
“I still can’t believe we fucked while they were home,” she mumbled.
“They probably just think you’re some whore I brought home,” he said with a shrug, to which she scoffed.
“Thanks.”
“Hey, I didn’t call you the whore,” Colin said, keeping his voice down. She snorted. “Okay, looks like they’re all sleeping. Just head out and we’ll meet back up in twenty.”
Fiona saw something in her peripheral that made her freeze. She whirled around, figuring it to be one of Colin’s brothers, only to gawk.
“Ian?”
Her brother froze too, staring at them with wide eyes. “Fiona?” He squeaked out, voice noticeably a higher pitch.
She couldn’t help but notice his rumpled clothing and the messy hair. “What the fuck? What are you doing here?”
Ian looked a little panicked. “What are you doing here?” He yelped.
“Did you come from Mandy's room?” Colin demanded, butting into the conversation, his protective instincts coming out.
“N-no!”
“I swear to God if you were fucking my baby sister-” Colin hissed.
“I wasn’t!”
“Okay, okay,” Fiona put a hand on his chest to calm him. Ian gawked at this momentarily, but was a little more focused on not getting murdered.“Don’t fucking touch him.”
“I wasn’t with Mandy,” Ian said hurriedly. “I swear I wasn’t!”
“Then why the fuck are you here?”
“Colin,” Fiona snapped. “Calm the fuck down. Jesus.”
“Fi-” Colin started with a sigh.
“If you touch him, Colin, I swear to God-”
“Alright, alright! I won’t touch him. He still owes me an explanation.”
“And you’ll get it,” Fiona said, looking at Ian expectantly.
“Um, well-” Ian said weakly.
“Goddamn it, Gallagher, what’s all the noise about? Did you wake my brother up?” A new voice complained, and out came Mickey from his room, stopping dead in his tracks when he saw all of them standing there. “Fuck...”
Ian shut his eyes, one hand covering his face.
It didn’t take Colin long to connect the dots. “Holy shit,” he said in disbelief.
Fiona was just as shocked. This was not what she expected to happen this morning. Although, she couldn’t help but notice the way Mickey stiffened up when his eyes landed on his brother. Not a surprise, given the Milkovich’s asshole of a father.
“You’re a fag, Mick?” Colin said, completely caught off guard. “Since when?”
She whacked him hard for that one. “Hey,” she said sharply.
Colin gave her a look in return. “What? I don’t give a shit. I’m just askin’.”
Ian tried to do damage control, which she suspected was to save face for Mickey, and blurted out, “I-I was just returning something to Mickey. I, uh, borrowed it from him and I thought I should bring it back before he punches me or something.”
Colin snorted. Mickey looked like he was seconds away from actually punching him right then and there.
“Do you think we’re fucking stupid?” The second oldest Milkovich said to no one in particular. Then, he asked staright up: “Gallagher, are you fucking my brother?”
“No. I mean yes but-” Ian faltered, trying to come up with the right words. He looked at Mickey, and their silent communication lasted for several moments. Taking a deep breath, he finally said, “Me and Mickey aren’t just fucking. He’s my boyfriend.”
Fiona felt like her mind was blown. Jesus. “How long has this been going on?”
“A couple of months,” Mickey answered cautiously. He was still glancing at Colin.
“Seriously?” Fiona didn’t know how she’d missed this. Wouldn’t she have known if Ian was sneaking off?
“Hold the fuck on then,” Colin said suddenly, “I thought you and Mandy were dating? That’s what she told us.”
“It’s fake,” Ian said quickly. “She offered to pretend to be my girlfriend at school. I keep the creepy guys away and no one suspects I’m gay.”
Colin rubbed his face tiredly. “Jesus. It’s too fucking early for all of this.”
Fiona definitely agreed.
There was silence for a couple of seconds. Ian’s eyes darted from her to Colin. “Are you guys together too?”
Mickey looked interested in hearing the answer as well.
“We’re-” Fiona didn’t know how to explain it. What were they? They weren’t just fuck buddies. They were both interested in taking this further, but at the moment? She didn’t know what they were.
“Yeah,” Colin took the reins and said. He placed his hand on her lower back. Fiona unconsciously leaned into his touch.
“I stayed here last night,” she admitted.
“That’s probably why we heard all the thuds,” Mickey said to Ian, casually. Fiona was mortified. Ian just grimaced.
“Jesus, Mick. Don’t say things like that.”
“Did I offend your delicate sensibilities, Gallagher?”
Ian, seemingly forgetting who he was in front of, just grinned. “Didn’t think I was so delicate last night.”
“Okay, no,” Fiona said loudly. “You’re not going to do that in front of me. You two can fuck or be boyfriends and shit all you want, but I don’t need to know anything about my brother’s sex life.”
Ian flushed, ducking his head.
“Me either,” Colin added.
“Sorry,” Ian offered an apology, and she rolled her eyes fondly.
Her brother seemed alright, if just a bit surprised that they were both dating Milkovich’s. But Fiona had been studying Mickey for a couple of minutes now and he seemed close to fleeing or shitting his pants. It reminded her a little of when Ian came out; he’d been nervous too. She could only imagine how he must be feeling right now.
But even in the midst of this, she saw Mickey’s eyes glancing her brother’s way, his face softening and for a moment, he wasn’t one of South Side’s notorious thugs, but just a kid that was clearly in love.
“We should probably head out,” Fiona said, referencing to herself and Ian. “Come on.”
Colin spoke up, “Are we still on?”
She turned, a smile lighting up her face. “We’re still on.”
“On for what?” Ian said curiously.
“More fucking, probably,” Mickey shrugged.
“Fuck off,” Colin swatted him upside the head. “It ain’t like that, dickhead. We’re going out.”
“Your brother’s secretly a gentleman,” Fiona told Mickey, who scoffed.
“Since fucking when?”
“Keep talkin’, fuck head. You did plenty of shit as a kid that I’ll gladly tell Gallagher,” Colin threatened. Mickey, much to her amusement, blanched a little.
“Technically we’re both Gallaghers,” Ian pointed out.
“You know damn well what I meant, Red.”
“Come on,” Fiona smirked, a hand on her brother’s shoulder. “Let’s get back before the others wake up. I don’t need Carl blowing up the house.”
Ian nodded, his gaze settling on Mickey. “Bye Mickey,” he said shyly. “You should stop by Kash and Grab later. You know, if you want to.”
“Yeah, sure. Whatever,” Mickey said like he didn’t care.
Colin snorted. “Some relationship you’ve got there.”
“Shut the fuck up.”
Fiona made a bold move of taking Colin by the hand, pulling him towards the door. “You can go on,” she told Ian, who didn’t need to be told twice, so now it was only three of them. “Bye Mickey,” she called.
Mickey grunted, and went back to his room, slamming the door shut.
“Make sure you talk to him,” Fiona said, realizing that she was still holding onto his hand.
“About what?” Colin said, slightly confused.
“About him being gay,” Fiona said carefully.
“Why the fuck do we have to talk about it? I don’t care where he sticks his dick.”
“That’s not the point,” Fiona sighed. “We both know how Terry is. He needs to know you aren’t going to kick his ass over it.”
Colin met her eyes. He nodded, understanding now. “Okay. I’ll talk to him.”
“Make sure he’s okay,” she added. “And don’t pressure him to tell Iggy or Mandy. It’s his choice.”
“I know that,” he said, looking serious. “I’d never do that to him.”
“Good,” Fiona glanced down at their still conjoined hands, and let go. “See you in twenty?”
“See ya, Gallagher.”
Fiona walked back home with a grin on her face. Unlike the other guys in her past, she had a good feeling about Colin Milkovich.

Miguel O'Hara x Reader
Come back to bed
In which he's an asshole and you're annoying
Angst no comfort
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"She's homeless, bada dee bada doo." The sound of your humming bounced off the white metals of the spider building.
Other spiders ran or walked passed by or around you, each lost in their own spider world.
Your world was set on a mission, one even the most terrifying wouldn't dare walk. One that would even make the strongest man tremble in his shoes.
Bring Miguel lunch!
You'd endlessly talk his ear off at any given chance, and he'd sometimes would laugh at your jokes! A fair trade, you would say. Today, you had a 2099 burger packed away in a styrofoam box, with blue fries and a red drink.
You giggling while swagger walking to his office, the closer you got to his office, the less and less there were spider people. Not many people hung around his hallway, everything personalized to Miguels specific tastes. No use for other people going down here unless they specifically needed him.
You opened the door to his office with gusto, and you loudly called out to him.
"Miguelllll!! ¡Yo tengo comida para ti! It's muy delicioso!" You closed the office door before swinging up to his desk, plopping all the food down beside him.
You sit beside the food, kicking your feet up while cheesing at him. He glanced at you, then at the food, and then back up at you. His shoulders dropped, and he sighed.
"What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be out on a mission." He continued to swipe and work at the red screens infront of him.
"Oh, but of course! I'm the Amazing Spiderman, I kick ass and take names. I took care of it, no sweat!" You wiped your hands like you were wiping away dust. And looked back up at him, shoving the food at him. "You weren't at the cafeteria, eat." You commanded, voice lacking all the silliness from before.
"I'm not hungry." Miguel huffed, looking back at the screens.
"Jeez I just," You held your head, looking confused and lost, "I don't remember when I asked." You made a face at him. "You didn't eat breakfast, and you already skipped out on dinner last night. You don't get to skip out on this. Plus!" Excitment flooded back into you. "It has your face on it!" You giggled, showing the burger up to him.
Miguels eyes widened, and looked inside to see his masked face on a burger with blue fries. His wide eyes looked back at you, and let out an airy chuckle. Still, his eyes went back to the red screens. Those fucking screens man, he was worse than those iPad kids.
"Miguel-"
He cut you off, huffing out your name before fully turning to you. "This is important, a new and dangerous anomaly just showed up in the timeline and I need to figure where or even what it is. I'll join you for dinner later, alright?" He all but growled out, his deep brown eyes flashing red for just a moment.
You were taken aback for a moment, Miguel has never spoken to you this way before. You knew he could be stern, but ever since you entered the realm of dating, he's made sure to try and communicate his feelings with you a little better.
"Well alright, no need to snap at me. I was just concerned you haven't eaten." You hopped back down, a lump formed in your throat as you turned away from him. You didn’t turn back when you left, and he didn't stop you.
___________________________________________
Dinner was cold by the time he ate it, you knew that because the next morning when you went to clean the dishes, the food had become hard and stuck to the plate. Angrily you washed it away. The bed was cold when you went to sleep, and it was cold when you woke up.
___________________________________________
"Helllloooo? Anybody home??? Honey, I'm home!" You called out, and bounded up to Miguels high tower.
You sighed when you saw him still working, still looking.
"Jeez, you might work yourself to death before you find the thing." You sneak up behind him and try to wrap your arms around his neck the best you could.
"As long as I find it." Was all he said.
"Oh wow Miguel, you're such a romantic. 'Thank you mi vida for dinner, gracias por lunch the other day.'" You made your voice deeper to try and mock him, walking to try and face his front.
"Thank you." Was all he said, again.
"Yes of course Master, as your faithful butler, is there anything else you need of me?" Your voice went higher, and you batted your lashes at him.
"Leave me alone. You're distracting me right now, and this is important to me." Miguel turned to you, face cold and set in a scowl.
Your heart picked up, and hurt was laced all over your face. "Well, I'm sorry I'm distracting you from something so important. I'll be on my way now." You angrily turned, and quickly jumped off from the platform and stomped out before he could say anything more.
If he even did.
___________________________________________
His dinner went uneaten that night. And when you went to check, he didn't eat breakfast. You don't think he even came to your shared space that night.
Your watched beeped with a request, how considerate of him. He won't talk to you properly, let alone sleep in the same bed as you, but he can send you out on mission. How thoughtful, truly.
You sighed and rushed to get your spider suit on before jumping into the orange portal, blindly following his orders blindly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The problem was bigger and way more difficult than expected.
A lizard to be specific.
He was huge and had pink spots all over his brught blue body. A harsh contrast to the monotone soft red world that surrounded you.
Your mind so lost in the details you missed his big talons scratching across your back, sending you flying into the nearest building. You groaned, comically sliding down.
You hit the ground with a harsh thud, your head spinning while the asshole lizard stomped towards you. It wasn't the first time the asshole landed a hit on you, but by the way your body was reacting it needed to be the last.
Fuck.
You sprung up, webbing around him before landing a fast and harsh kick to the bass of his head. The lizard was caught off guard, giving you the option to trap him in the red cell and port back to base. You checked in with Margo before you hobbled your way to Miguels office.
You don't know why you wanted to see him, but you felt pretty weak and battered (considering you actually were) so wanting to see your partner wasn't exactly a crime.
Opening the door to his office seemed more difficult than usual, you may be a spider person, but you were still human. You were hurt, physically and emotionally, and you looked up through your broken mask to Miguels high position.
It made you feel even weaker, smaller. It had been a full weak since you've been able to fully talk to him, let alone sleep in the same bed, or have him hold you after a bad day.
"Miguel?" You called out, your mask broken, your real eye open to the world while your other, unbroken and small in the spider mask. Your voice was small, your hunched over form showed how battered you really were.
You could feel the breeze on your back, blood slowly washed down your back, and you could feel the bruising forming on both your arms.
There was silence. You could see him, see him standing there just fucking, tapping away!
"Miguel, I'm hurt. All I'm asking for is a hug, or just a kiss to make the boo-boos better." You laughed bitterly, anger starting to get the best of you.
Miguel huffed, not even turning to look at you. "Then go to the nurse, I can't kiss your injures better." You could feel him rolling his eyes at you, annoyed at your childish behavior.
"I'm not asking you too, I'm just asking you to even acknowledge me!" You yelled, anger getting the best of you.
"You just asked me too, are you dumb-?" Miguel finally turned around to look at you fully, finally giving you his full attention. His eyes went wide, shock taking over his whole body at the state you left yourself in.
"Why didn't you go to the nurse? Why did you come to me first? You really are stupid." Miguel sighed, looking down on you like you were the stupidest person ever.
"Because I wanted to see you! All week, you've been blowing me off and being a dick to me! You're right, this was a mistake. I'm sorry for even wanting to see my partner." You screamed at him, voice hoarse from the fighting from earlier.
You straightened up, and turned around, rushing out of his room, leaving a trail of blood in your wake.
You don't think he even followed you.

Sick Summer Days
WC: 2.6k
TW: Dry-heaving, Indiana Jones Spoilers, headaches/migraines.
A/N: Some comfort for our Steve. But also I tried something new and different with my writing and I don't know if I like it yet but oh well!!
If Steve could murder an idea, it would be this one.
Dustin talked him into throwing a major pool party at the end of the school year for all of the little twerps that he was forced into babysitting. They had been passing around themes all month before Steve had butted in and told them that they have access to the pool, and he’ll grill some food, and that was the party they were getting. Maybe, since they were all sixteen now, he would let them have a singular beer.
But the morning of, he woke up on the wrong side of the bed. His hair was sticking up in all the wrong ways, his chest ached, his head felt like it was filled with fluid, and to make matters worse, he stubbed his toe twice in the kitchen. His bagel had burnt, the OJ was the kind that had pulp in it (Steve is not a pulp guy.), and the banging on the door was the final straw.
As he swung open the door to curse out Henderson, he saw you. Sure, the little shit was there, along with Max and Lucas, but you were trying to corral the group into being a little quieter.
“Woah Steve, you look like shit man.”
“Thank you so much for that Henderson.”
You looked over at him, a smile across your face that immediately transformed into a frown at the state of his being. Steve usually was shirtless around his house, something you quite enjoyed, but today he was wearing an oversized hoodie along with the sweatpants, and his hair looked like it had not only been entered into an Einstein look alike contest, but won.
While you pressed a quick peck to his lips, the three teens pushed their way into the Harrington Household, booking it to the back doors to get to the pool.
“You okay there Steve?”
He just nodded and ran a hand through his hair. “Yeah….just—hasn’t been my morning.” he rasped, not realizing how shot his voice was until now.
“If you want to go lay down while I set up the coolers then I will gladly—”
“No, no, it’s fine. I don’t want you to suffer outside with the delinquents by yourself, that’s just cruel. Plus it’s nothing.” Steve gave you as close to a flirty smile as he could given the circumstances, and squeezed your waist.
You nodded and smiled at him, “Then go clean yourself up Harrington, everyone else is not far behind.”
And like always, you were right. Just as Steve had made it upstairs to change into his swimsuit the rest of the gang had arrived. He could hear them all piling out of their cars, like a wave of sound ready to crash over him and drag him out to sea.
You had been outside, wearing some form of a short sundress, to cover up the bathing suit you were wearing since it was only 10 am, and unlike the kids, you didn’t need to be in the pool right then and there.
Instead, you pulled off your dress, made Robin put sunscreen on your back, and grabbed your sunglasses. You sat down on one of the lounge chairs that you had draped your towel over, pulled out the book you had been reading, and started the sun’s rays on your skin. You didn’t really need to tan, but this process of “warming your body down to the bones” was the best way to start the season out. You were ready to enjoy your day in the sun. But the universe had other plans.
Steve fucking Harrington stepped out of his house in his old Lifeguard swimshorts, the bright red catching your attention. It caused you to miss the fact that his eyes were still tired and he moved a little slower than usual. You moved the book up slightly, trying to cover your blatant stare as he walked by.
He picked the lounge chair right next to you, and sat on it, legs facing you. He couldn’t take his eyes off of your body, almost drooling by the way you looked in your bathing suit, hugging you in all the right places.
He cleared his throat, and smiled when you turned your head to look at him. He had been out in the sun before the summer started, and you could tell because more freckles had popped up, all over his chest, his shoulder, his nose.
“What are you reading?”
Robin snickered from the pool, watching as he tried to play it cool, when all he was trying to do was think about anything besides the things he wanted to do to you while you looked like that.
“Oh, um. It’s part of the summer reading for one of the classes for next fall.” He nodded as you continued. “I’m taking this Dramatic Literature course, you know, like plays, and so we’re starting with this play called Faust, or Doctor Faustus. It’s kind of interesting. It’s about this like twenty-five year old who decides that just being a doctor and smart and hot isn’t enough, so he gets into witchcraft and summons a demon and makes a deal. Basically this demon, Mephisotpheles, or Meph, becomes his servant for like twenty years, or something, and the two of them go back and forth wreaking havoc and everytime Faustus gets a little too ‘God Save Me’, Meph basically throws another sin or indulgence at him and –”
You quickly closed the book and shook your head. “Sorry, I’m probably boring the shit out of you with this.”
Steve smiled at you, “Trust me, you are the last person here I could find boring.”
Dustin and Eddie let out a respective protest, but Steve ignored them because a slight blush had risen to your cheeks, and that was much more interesting than those two.
“Don’t say that too loud or your head will be on a pike before the day is over.”
Steve just smiled and shook his head, placing his hand on your thigh. “Trust me, if I can handle the past three years of our lives, I can handle the two fucking idiots over there.”
“Just be careful then Steve. If I get caught in the crossfire, I’m blaming–” You sat up slightly and pushed your finger against his chest. “You.”
Steve bit his lip and nodded. “Yes ma’am.” He muttered and you rolled your eyes, settling back down into your lounger, reading your book.
He was about to say something, but then felt an ache in his chest. Quickly, he excused himself form your side and went into the house, trying to cover up the cough in his throat.
You exchanged confused looks with Robin before looking back at the slider door where Steve had disappeared behind.
Steve was now in the bathroom, dry heaving like his life depended on it. The ache in his chest was making it worse since he felt like he couldn’t fucking breathe, and to make matters worse, the headache came back worse then before. It was one of those migraines that would have caused him to stay in bed all day and disappear from the world. Perks of being constantly bashed in the head.
You knocked on his bathroom door gently and waited for a response. Steve groaned and leaned back against the tub, not really answering you.
“Steve, can I come in?”
When there was no reply, you gently opened the door and slid into the bathroom. You took one look at him and shook your head.
“Harrington, when you aren’t feeling well, you have to tell us. You would make us do the same.” You spoke quietly, almost like you could sense that the problem was his head. Maybe it was the way he was quite literally cradling his head between his knees, but maybe it was because you liked to say you were just really in tune with Steve.
Steve felt as you stood over him. “Steve?”
And when he didn’t answer, he felt as you squatted down next to him; your leg brushing against his.
“Why don’t we get you to lay down for a little bit yeah?”
Steve grumbled an “I’ll be fine.” but did not move from his position.
“Okay big boy let’s not be stupid.” You huffed and very gently placed your hand on his arm, squeezing it ever so slightly to indicate that you were going to win this.
On a better day, Steve might have huffed and puffed, maybe he would have given you lip and told you that he would be fine, but today? Today he just moved one of his hands to yours, a silent plea for help to get up.
“It’s that bad huh.” You whispered, smiling when you saw the ghost of a smile on his face, before another ripple of pain flashed across his face and took the smile away with it. After a minute or so, you had managed to get Steve standing, and leaning against the counter. You hadn’t turned the lights on so the bathroom was still relatively dark (since the curtain was pulled over the window).
“Can you open your eyes or does keeping them shut like that help.”
“I’m fine.” He whispered, opening his eyes, and almost immediately regretting it. He already hated the fact that you had managed to weasel your way into caring for him right now, but now he was trying to shove whatever pain he was feeling into the back of his mind so that you didn’t have to worry so much.
He couldn’t help but notice how beautiful you were when your worried over him.
“Thank you?” You blushed slightly and kissed his cheek.
“I did not just say that out loud.”
“Yeah you did sweetheart, but I appreciate the sentiment.”
Steve thinks you have magiucal abilities or something because he swore the two of you had been standing in the bathroom, but suddenly he was sitting down on his bed. And then when he blinked again, he was laying down in his bed, with a blanket pulled over him. But when he blinked a third time, and his headache was gone, that when he knew he was going to have to have you tested for witchraft since suddenly it was now three in the afternoon, and you were nowhere to be seen, and his headache had all but subsided.
He sat up slowly, and double checked the time on his clock, as well as the date because he had no fucking clue what day it was. When he apparently went to sleep, it was ten am and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, but now it was three pm, and pouring rain.
What tipped him off that maybe it was the same day was the scream that came from downstairs, followed by an immediate “COME ON” from one Maxine Mayfield. Steve almost started to run for the stairs, but then heard all of the kids arguing.
Eventually Steve slowly made his way down the stairs, eavesdropping into the kid’s conversation about the fact that in the first Indiana Jones Movie, Indy is completely useless—
You and Steve made eye contact when his foot landed on the bottom stair; an amused look was plastered on your face as the kids continued to argue about the necessity of Harrison Ford.
You had all made them change into dry clothes so that they didn’t get the Harrington’s furniture soaked and moldy, which is something Steve was going to have to thank you for later. You were standing in the door way, clearly moving back and forth from the kitchen to the living room to keep an eye on the kids. He followed you into the kitchen where Jonathan, Eddie, Robin, and Nancy all were sitting at the island, drinking and talking with one another.
“There’s sleeping beauty. How ya feeling bud?”
Steve flashed a quick look of annoyance at Eddie before turning and looking at you, hoping for some explanation.
“Started to pour so we saved as much as we could. You fell asleep around 11, and were out for a few hours.” You explanation was simple was you wrapped your arms around his midriff and looked at him. “Feeling better?”
He nodded and kissed your head. “Y-yeah, sorry just…”
“I know.”
He could not be more grateful for you and the way you treated him—with such love and tenderness. But you never babied him, it was something he despised really, and so when you showed him love and care without treating him like a toddler, he started to accept it more and more.
“There’s some pizza left in the fridge for you, but I did have to literally almost stab Dustin for it so be grateful.”
Steve hummed slightly and kissed your lips. “I would have been okay if you ran him through with the knife.”
Dustin yelled an ‘I heard that’ from the other room, causing the group in the kitchen to let out a collective amused hum.
“Who’s idea was it to put on a movie that causes so many arguments between Max and Dustin?”
You smirked and shrugged. “It keeps them all really engrossed because Max has a crush on Harrison Ford but sees how pointless he is in the film.”
“And this upsets Dustin.” Eddie chimed in. “Which then causes Lucas to get caught inbetween because he also gets offended by what Max says, but sees her point.”
“Plus he’s jealous about her crush.” Robin laughed slightly and took a swig from the bottle in her hand.
“Then Mike joins forces with Dustin and Lucas, while El joins in with Max because she’s not wrong. And then Will tries to calm them down for the whole movie, which then leads to the suggestion of watching the second one, and whether or not Indy is truly relevant to the series at all..” Nancy finished out for you.
“You willingly set them up to argue?”
“If it gives us a reprieve then…Yeah.” Jonathan nodded.
Steve nodded. “Works for me. What happens when the finish with the second film?”
The five of you in the kitchen all chimed in at the same time: “Star Wars”.
You had this down to a science, and handed Steve a beer. “I bet Eddie ten bucks that Dustin’s head wouldn’t burst until the second Star Wars Film. If I win, I’m takin’ ya out ta dinnah babe.”
Steve chuckled at the accent and nodded. “You’re going to lose since Dustin freaks the fuck out every time Luke and Leia kiss.”
You glared over at Eddie who was in conversation with Robin. “That sick son of a bitch.”
Steve kissed your cheek and smiled. “You know I love you so much right?” He whispered, only for you to hear, causing your cheeks to tinge pink. “I appreciate everything you do for me. I don’t tell you that enough.”
Since you might as well start crying if you opened your mouth, you settled for a kiss instead, your insides melting at the way Steve talked to you.
It was a quick kiss since you all heard as Dustin started to lose his cool, before the second Indiana Jones movie had even ended.
“You all forgot one thing, Dustin can’t standing the scene where Indy drinks some sort of magic potion that causes him to almost fry up Willie.” Robin smirked and held out her hand, as Eddie handed over the money to her.
You grumbled but did the same, making sure to not step out of his reach to hand her over the money.

Can Anybody See Me? Part 2
Holy shit, guys. I have never had such a response to a story before. Thank you guys so much.
Tag list of 50 has now been filled. Any other requests for tagging will be denied. I’m sorry.
Edit: Also if you saw the title as something else? No, no you didn’t. And any reblogs you see with anyone instead of anybody are a figment of your imagination. (*thuds head on laptop* I have the title right on here...in my file *wails*)
Part 1
*
The next morning Eddie got up for school excited for the first time. He had a mystery to solve and his name was Steven Harrington. Probably the third or whatever shit rich people got to with naming their kids. He rummaged through his closet looking for his favorite band tee. But he stopped when he found an old shoe box down at the bottom.
Eddie frowned and pulled it out. It was a bunch of pictures of Eddie when he first came to live with his uncle, Wayne. He looked at the shaved head and bruised face.
His dad had taken one look at Eddie that morning and decided his hair was too long. He had grabbed Eddie by the hair and dragged him into the bathroom and shaved his head. The bruises to the face were from Eddie trying to escape.
Eddie had suffered a concussion and it was then the state had taken notice. They had packed up his stuff while he was in the hospital in a big black garbage bag and told him he would be going home to his Uncle Wayne. In Indiana. So far from the life he knew. But it meant being safe from his dad and that was a plus in Eddie’s book.
It’s how he knew what Steve was going through. Maybe not exactly the same. But he knew concussions and knew they were a bad business.
He put the pictures back in the box and tucked it under his bed. Maybe he didn’t need to know why Steve was hurting. Maybe it was enough to understand. He pulled on his second favorite band tee and his jacket. He grabbed his bag and hurried out the door.
*
Eddie bit his lip. He didn’t have any classes with Steve today and wasn’t able to check up on him. He was tempted to break into the office and pull Steve’s schedule. But that would get him detention and he was still trying to keep his promise to his uncle.
How was he going to do this?
And then the answer literally dropped in his lap. A book was thrown at him by someone. He picked it up and looked at the cover. It was some old homework journal was about to throw it away when a piece of paper fluttered to the ground.
Frowning he picked it up. By some miracle it was Steve’s schedule. He looked up to see if he could see who threw it at him. But it could have been anyone. A lot of people were avoiding his eye, but that could be for any number of reasons. They bought from him and now they can’t look him in the eye because he knows. They want to buy weed and don’t know how to broach it. They think he’s a freak. They have a crush on him. You know, the possibilities were endless.
But at least he knew things he didn’t before. Like holy hell, the kid did a lot of sports. He looked at baseball and swimming and basketball with his mind whirling around in his head. How did he keep all the rules straight?
Math third period Eddie knew. History was Steve’s first period. Which was probably how his messed up brain managed to spew that information at Eddie yesterday. Baseball was seventh. Basketball his eighth. Swimming was second. English fourth. Art was sixth. Art, huh? That was intriguing. Probably thought it was an easy elective. And chemistry was fifth. So it looked something like this.
Odd 1-History 3- Math 5- Chemistry lunch 7- Baseball
Even 2-Swimming 4-English 6-Art lunch 8-Basketball
Huh. Eddie never noticed, but Steve was always in his lunch period. That was certainly interesting. He wondered what Mrs Hall, the guidance counselor would do about all his sports now that he couldn’t play anymore. He supposed swimming was still fine, nothing to hit you in that. But baseball and basketball were definitely out.
Eddie chewed on his lip. The sports weren’t going to get Eddie closer to finding out what happened to Steve. They would close ranks so fast. At least Steve and him had lunch together so that would at least make it easier befriend the guy.
Art, though. He tapped his lip thoughtfully. He had art in his fifth period. He could doing some snooping there. After all art is where true expression lies. And if there was anything going on it would show in his art.
The start of a plan was forming in the back of his mind. Yeah. This could work.
*
At lunch, Eddie slid in next to Steve as soon as he sat down.
“What’s on the menu today, Harrington?” he asked grinning.
Steve looked up at him in shock again. “Um...applesauce and plain toast, with a can of ginger ale.”
Eddie winced. “Still feeling the nausea?”
Steve nodded. “I’m starting to wonder if it’s ever going away.”
“It’ll stick around for about a week,” Eddie said softly.
Steve frowned. “How would you know that?”
“How don’t you know that?” Eddie fired back. “This is your second concussion.”
“Didn’t go to the doctor either time,” Steve mumbled.
“You want to run that past me again, Harrington?” Eddie asked.
“Doctors mean having to call my parents,” Steve explained, “calling my parents means that they’ll have to come back from their trip, coming back from their trip means I get into trouble, getting into trouble is not good for a concussion, so I don’t.”
“Why would you get into trouble for having a concussion?” Eddie asked, furrowing his brow.
Steve started counting it out on his fingers. “Getting into a fight. Hanging out with black people and by extension, siding with said black person. Having to drop out of sports. Watching my grades plummet. Not speaking to Tommy and Carol. I can keep going if you’d like...”
Eddie shook his head. “Holy shit, dude. I didn’t think I’d see a shittier dad then my own, but yours and your mom take the cake.”
Steve looked down at his applesauce mournfully. “It’s not that bad. At least my dad doesn’t hit me like Tommy’s dad does.”
Eddie’s eyebrows went up. “Are all rich dads douchebags?”
Steve shrugged. “I don’t know.”
“Look, I’ve got to eat my own lunch,” Eddie said slapping the table and standing up, “but if you need anything come find me.”
Steve nodded, but Eddie didn’t think he would take him up on it.

Birthday twins- Pablo Gavi
A/n: for reference my birthday isn’t the same as Gavi’s but it is later this month and that’s close enough for me
For once there was no alarm to wake me up, on a weekday my alarm wakes me up for work or for class and on a weekend Pablo's alarm is on for training or games. Today however we have nothing to get up for which is so nice because it's our birthday. Somehow I managed to find myself a really nice and loving boyfriend who happens to share the exact same birthday as me. When we first found this out we didn't believe it but once we proved when our birthdays were all we could do was laugh because what are the chances of that. As soon as our friends found out they started calling us twins which we absolutely hated at first but we've got used to it now and it's kind of an inside joke.
As I opened my eyes I saw Pablo with his eyes still closed and his hair in his face like it always is after he's been asleep. We went to sleep cuddling but now his arm is just loosely draped over my waist and our legs were all intertwined. I moved his hair from his forehead gently trying not to wake him but he started to stir as soon as I touched his hair. His eyes began to flutter open but it took a few seconds before he opened them properly and then another few getting his bearings but as soon as he did he smiled and leaned in to kiss me.
"I'm sorry I woke you" I whispered not wanting to talk too loudly this early in the morning
"It's ok I get to see your pretty face now I'm awake" he smiled
"Now your awake I can say happy birthday" I said
"Thank you happy birthday to you too" he said
I thanked him while he wrapped his arm properly around my waist and pulled me closer to him so we could cuddle properly. We don't get to cuddle in the morning very often as we are both so busy in the mornings so it's really nice to have a slower start to the day. We did absolutely nothing for a good while we didn't touch our phones and we didn't say anything we just laid there together while Pablo played with my hair and I ran my fingers up and down his arm. Eventually we had to get on with our day but before we did that all we had to do was exchange a look before Pablo picked up his phone and went to order from our favourite place for breakfast. As soon as it arrived Pablo ran downstairs and got the food to bring straight back upstairs so we could eat in bed which we usually don't do but today's a special occasion so it's ok.
After breakfast we both got dressed for the day as our friends have told us we need to be out the house for a few hours so we have to find something to do all day until we are allowed back after they've done whatever they've got planned. Pablo got ready before me so I thought I'd wear and dress that sort of matches what he's wearing as if people are going to call us twins all day we may as well look like twins plus it will look good if we want to take pictures. I also wanted to wear the necklace Pablo got me last year with our birthstone on it but I couldn't do the clasp on my own so I had to get Pablo to do it. He happily did it while pressing a kiss to the back of my neck because he'll kiss my neck any chance he gets, if neck kisses were a love language that would definitely be his love language.
Just as we got our shoes on my best friend and Fermin arrived to start setting up whatever they have planned so they ushered us out before locking the door behind us. It feels so weird to be leaving other people in the house without us and to not have any house keys as we left those with our friends. Pablo suggested to go on a walk to the beach so that's what we did the walk from his place to the beach is a really nice walk and I do it by myself all the time so it will be nice to bring Pablo with me. It is such a lovely day outside it's sunny but not too hot perfect for going to the beach. For the entire walk Pablo held my hand swinging our arms between us because there is no one else around and he can. We might both be 20 now but we definitely still act like children well mostly Pablo but when we are together definitely brings out my inner child which makes spending time with him so fun.
The beach wasn't busy at all despite the weather but it is quite a private beach which isn't easily accessible so that makes it quieter in general which is why I love going there. We walked along the sand to find the quietest spot where we chose to sit and just enjoy the weather and listen to the waves crashing against the shore. One of our first dates was at this very beach Pablo made a picnic for us and we stayed on the beach talking until the sun set. I think that night was the first time I realised how much I liked Pablo as we just got on so well and he made me feel so comfortable even when we hadn't known each other very long.
"This place always reminds me of that date we went on" Pablo said
"I was just thinking the same thing" I said
"That might be one of my favourite dates we've been on I feel like we really got to know each other that day and I realised that I really wanted to be with you" he said
"Thats so weird after that date I realised how much I really liked you I guess this beach is a special part of our relationship" I said
"I guess it is although when I think about our relationship I think about the moment I knew I loved you" he said
"I don't think we've ever talked about when we first realised we were in love" I said
"I think I knew I loved you before I really let myself think about it as I've never felt this way for someone and it was scary but it really hit me that day I picked you up from class after training and we just spent the whole day cuddling then once it got dark you dragged me outside to look at the stars and we saw a shooting star and you just got so excited it made me realise that I didn't want to experience moments like that with anyone else" Pablo explained
"Thats so sweet I had no idea that was the moment was so special to you when I realised I loved you it just hit me that night your turned up to my apartment with flowers and snacks just because I'd had a hard week staring and doing exams it made me realise that you really cared about me and that's what made me realise I loved you" I said
"I will always care about you I know you don't have many people that show you unconditional love but I always will" he said
We continued to talk about our relationship and the future until we both got hungry and decided to go somewhere for lunch. The peace we had on the beach didn't last long because as soon as we got to the nearest town there was more people around some of which wanted pictures with Pablo. Somehow we managed to find a quiet restaurant where we weren't bothered at all which is always nice but it doesn't happen often. After lunch we still weren't allowed back so we decided to walk to the nearest mall which isn't too far. We started by looking at perfumes and seeing which ones smelt the best and then we found a sunglass shop and tried to find the most ridiculous sunglasses to see if we could make each other laugh. It was a lot of fun but I was glad when we got a text to say we were allowed back in half an hour so we could start to walk home.
After walking around all day my feet were starting to hurt especially walking up the big hill on the last road before the house. To start with I was walking next to Pablo then he was sort of dragging me up the hill then he stopped and picked me up bridal style and carried me up the rest of the hill like it was nothing. He only put me down when we reached the gate to his house which we had to wait to be let through as he didn't have the key.
Our friends greeted us at the door and put blindfolds on us which felt a bit scary in fact Pablo was so scared that he made Fermin lead me inside instead of him as he thought he'd walk him into a wall as a joke. We made it inside in one piece but it was weirdly quiet that was until our blindfolds were taken off and everyone yelled happy birthday. It took a few seconds for my eyes to adjust to the light but when they did I saw that the whole place had been decorated but it had been split in half so half was decorated with my favourite colour and the other half was Pablo's. There was balloons and banners and there was even a few tables with food which had both mine and Pablo's favourite foods.
After taking everything in we were made to sit down as our cakes were brought out as our friends had two of those made too. We blew out the candles and then we were free to celebrate with everyone. My friends dragged me away from Pablo so I could go and dance with them and they gave me the presents they got me which were all so sweet. The whole night was filled with talking and having fun with friends probably the most fun I've had on my birthday in a long time maybe the most fun I've had in general for a good few months.
It was the early hours of the morning by the time everyone had left but Fermin and my best friend stayed to clean up so the whole place is pretty much clean apart from the left over food. It's been a long day and I know both me and Pablo were tired but we still hadn't exchanged our gifts for each other so we headed upstairs and got ready for bed before grabbing the gifts from our hiding places. I got him some new sunglasses as he wears his so much that they are completely scratched as well as a picture frame with pictures from all his big moments throughout his career as he's been talking about doing that for the last year and hasn't got round to it. He got me a couple of books from my favourite series and these beautiful matching earrings and bracelet. I have a necklace they he got me for Christmas that I wear everyday as it has a heart with our initials on and the date we got together but now I have more jewellery from him to wear everyday and remind me of him.
I wasn’t expecting him to then hand me a card as expressing his feelings in words written or spoken isn’t his thing so I always cherish the moments where he expresses his feelings. The card was filled with the sweetest words, he told me how much he appreciates everything I do for him and how much I support him even through the hard moments and how much he loves me which is what finally made me let a few tears go. He wiped my tears and pulled me into a kiss which had the passion of all the words he’d written in the card.
“This has been the best birthday and I’m so happy I could share it with you” he said
“Me too hopefully we can share many more birthdays together” I said
“Oh we will I’m not letting you go anywhere my birthday twin” he smiled

———————————————————————
Wednesday, February 24th; 8:30 AM - Lucy's Apartment.
I groaned as the alarm echoed through the room. It’s way too early, especially considering how late we got home last night. I buried my head in the pillow, while my wonderful girlfriend chuckled. Unsurprisingly, when I turned to face her, she was already fully awake.
"Do you think this is funny?" I mumbled.
"A little bit," she teased. "Good morning..."
I smiled as she leaned in to kiss me. I love our morning kiss, even though it’s not the best one of the day. A slight headache began to take hold. It wasn’t the most pleasant wake-up, though far from the worst.
"What do you want for breakfast?" she asked, getting out of bed.
"Stay," I groaned.
"As much as I’d like to, we have to pick up your little brother in an hour," she said, changing from shorts into a new pair of joggers. "We shouldn’t be late, right? You only have yourself to blame for wanting to stay up so late."
"At least I didn’t drink until I was wasted," I teased, hugging the pillow closer.
"You’d better not have. I would’ve made you sleep on the couch if you had."
"I don’t believe you," I teased again.
"You should. I would’ve done it without any guilt."
I stuck out my tongue at her, which only made her smile smugly. She came back over to give me another quick kiss.
"Don’t take too long, okay?"
"I’ll try my best... Can you make me some toast this morning?"
"Of course."
We exchanged smiles before she left the room. I love our life together. It feels like we’ve been living together for years. Everything is so ordinary, far from anything that could bother us. I stretched out once more before lying on my back. Today is going to be long and busy, but so perfect. Our little bubble will be interrupted with Joan’s arrival, but I’m excited to see him again. I forced myself out of bed and, unlike Lucy, didn’t change before joining her. I smiled when I saw her making the toast I’d asked for.
"I expected you to join me much later."
"I had a good teacher for getting out of bed."
"Oh, please. I only threw you out of bed once," she teased.
"After throwing a glass of water on me, if I remember correctly. The other times, you made me run outside. I’m not sure which was worse."
She laughed heartily as I joined her in setting the table. I didn’t find it funny at all. I went through a lot because of her. There’s a reason I didn’t like her at first, now that she reminded me.
"Stop laughing."
"Oh, come on. Admit it, it was funny."
"No, it wasn’t," I pouted. "You really pushed me to the limit."
"Those are good memories. I can’t wait to tell our grandkids about our first meeting someday."
"Of course," I giggled. "Let’s focus on having kids first, before thinking about grandkids."
"You’re right. We’ll get there one day."
"Mm-hmm."
I approached her and hugged her from behind. She leaned back against me, and I took the opportunity to kiss her shoulder. I slowly moved up to her neck, lightly biting a few spots without leaving any marks. Mine had finally faded, and I was glad about that. Knowing Joan, he would’ve asked what it was, and I wouldn’t have known how to explain it to him at his age.
"Thanks for agreeing to have my brother over for a few days."
"It’s no problem. I was surprised your mom let him come alone, though," she admitted.
"Me too... It seems the airport reassured her by saying he’d be accompanied the whole time. Plus, she knows how attentive I am with him, so nothing can really happen to him with us. And, I feel like she trusts you more than she trusts me," I chuckled.
"She shouldn’t, though. You’re way better with kids than I am."
"Nonsense. You work with teens all day."
"They’re students, which means they’re almost adults. It’s not the same at all."
"Well, let me tell you, we’re way worse than innocent kids."
"That’s debatable. I’ve always found kids to be quite devious... Though Joan isn’t like that, thankfully."
I giggled at her thinking. She must not have been around many good kids. I let go of her waist when I saw she was finishing up the toast. I quickly poured her coffee and heated up my hot chocolate. Then I joined her at the table, where she had brought all sorts of toppings.
"So, you don’t like kids, huh?" I asked as I began my breakfast.
"I didn’t say that," she rolled her eyes. "I don’t like spoiled, badly-behaved kids. That’s all."
"Or cheeky ones, huh?" I teased.
She laughed, knowing full well that I was referring to myself. She used to say that about me, and it wasn’t in a pleasant tone.
"Or cheeky ones, indeed. But they can be redeemed after a few laps around the track."
"Ha ha ha!"
"Isn’t it true?"
"Maybe. But I wasn’t cheeky."
"Oh yes, you were," she teased. "You had a comeback for everything I said."
"Well, you were really hard on me. I mean, you were very direct with me... And I hated it. That’s why I didn’t like you at first."
"You didn’t like me because I dared to tell you things to your face, and that’s exactly what you needed, right? You needed someone like me to help you understand and make an impact on you."
"You’re probably right... Your words made me think a lot at the beginning. I felt like crap," I admitted shyly.
"That was kind of the goal... At least, by insisting and being so harsh with my words, I wanted you to realize who you had become. It was obvious you weren’t a bad person. Circumstances made you that way."
I smiled softly at her, nodding. I love when Lucy shares her thoughts with me. She’s so good at reading people, a quality few possess. I, for example, don’t have it. I couldn’t tell who has a good or bad heart. At first, I saw the good in everyone, but since Feli, that’s changed.
"Do you think everyone has a good side?" I asked thoughtfully.
"I think everyone has both good and bad sides. It’s just that one tends to come out more than the other at certain times."
"Yeah, okay. But do you think someone can become good again after being bad? Like Korbin, for example."
She seemed to think for a moment, dipping her toast in her coffee before taking a bite. She took her time chewing and swallowing before replying.
"Well... It’s hard to say with that example. Korbin grew up in a tough environment. The people you saw in Wiegman’s office last time weren’t her real parents, but her foster family. Some people don’t have a choice about who they become. Even though she was taken out of her old neighborhood, I can guarantee that once she feels ready, she’ll go back there."
"You think so?" I asked, surprised. « Why? »
- Because that's what her parents decided. In neighborhoods like that, families have reputations to uphold. If she doesn't go back, she'll be shunned for the rest of her life and disowned by her family.
- That's really not cool, I grimaced.
- That's life... Not everyone has a choice, she replied with a shrug.
- Is that what she told you?
- Yeah. You weren't my only student, you know.
- Really? I thought I was the only one, I admitted.
- No, she shook her head. You weren't the only one, but you were definitely the most important. Wiegman wanted me to focus on you. To do that, she let some go early and reassigned others to Ingrid.
- Oh... What about Korbin?
- Wiegman let her go early. The more I think about it, I believe she took it out on you to get back at me. She must have felt betrayed and abandoned since I was the first person she ever opened up to.
All the hatred I had for her almost turns into pity now. Even though her actions are unforgivable, I can understand them. I would have reacted the same way if I were in her shoes. What I don’t understand is why Lucy was so adamant about her leaving Camp Wiegman, even though she knew about her issues.
- Why did you insist on having her leave Camp Wiegman if you thought she still needed help?
- As I just told you, some people don’t have a choice and decide they don’t want to be saved. That was Korbin’s case. Unlike you, she didn’t want to be saved because she already knew her future. I can guarantee she’ll be on the wrong side her whole life, and keeping her at school would have put you in danger.
- Y-you wanted her gone to protect me?
- Of course, she replied as if it was obvious. You specifically, but also all the other students. Her group of friends will have you in their sights for a while since you got their leader expelled. But don’t worry. You don’t have anything to fear. You’ll be watched, just like them.
- What do you mean, watched? I asked, frowning.
- The entire teaching staff and the instructors are aware. They won’t let anything happen, trust me, they know.
- OK... I murmured. Why are they even here if they’re so dangerous?
- Everyone deserves a chance, right? she smiled. Some of them won’t follow Korbin’s path. Take Athenea, for example. Ingrid was in charge of her, and she plans to continue her studies after school.
- Really? I was surprised. She doesn’t seem very smart... I said without thinking.
Lucy laughed and shook her head.
- Believe me, she’s smarter than she seems. She wasn’t just the little girl following Korbin around. If she let people think that, it was to get Korbin’s protection within their group. I wonder how things will go for her now that Korbin is gone.
- People are really crazy, I sighed.
- Oh yes, she giggled. More than you think. Well, I’m going to take a shower. Can you clean up in the meantime?
- Yeah, but I need to shower too, so hurry up.
- Then go first. You take longer than I do.
- Hey!
- What? It’s the truth, she teased as she headed to the kitchen.
I stuck out my tongue at her while bringing my cup and some topping jars like Nutella and jam to the kitchen.
- That’s mean, I commented.
- Oh, please. It’s not the worst thing I’ve said to you, she laughed.
I was about to pretend to sulk, but she pulled me back and held me firmly against her. Her lips quickly found their way to my neck, which I instinctively tucked in.
- Sorry. I take it back, she said with a hint of amusement.
- You’re only saying that so I’ll stop sulking.
- Is it working?
- You wish, you fool.
She laughed, turning me around so we could face each other. She kissed me so intensely that I stepped back until I felt the countertop against my lower back. I was about to go in for another kiss when we barely separated to breathe, but she gently pulled away.
- Shower, she reminded me with one word.
I groaned in frustration, knowing she was right. We can easily get lost in the moment, and now is not the time given our schedule. Still, I gave her one last kiss before heading to the bathroom. I can’t wait to hug my little brother.
Wednesday, February 24; 10:30 AM - Manchester Airport
My foot bounces in rhythm with the seconds as I watch the display board counting down the minutes until the plane lands. The wait is so stressful for me, and apparently for Lucy too, who finally places her hand on my knee.
- Stop that, she grumbled.
- It’s taking forever!
- Fidgeting won’t make the wait any shorter. It’ll just annoy me.
She raised an eyebrow in a threatening way. I bit my lip and stopped moving my foot. I don’t like it when she looks at me like that, even if I deserve it. She let out a sigh of relief and turned her attention back to her phone. I looked back at the display board to see how much time had passed. Fifteen minutes. I’m definitely going to die before it reaches zero. My excitement is at its peak. I’ve missed Joan so much. I hope his flight went well since he was traveling alone. A flight attendant was supposed to accompany him from the beginning to the end of the boarding process, so everything should have gone smoothly. However, I’m not sure if it’s Shay.
- The girls are asking if we want to have dinner together tonight, Lucy announced, snapping me out of my daydream. Is that okay with you?
- Yeah, of course. Joan will be happy to see them again. We could also invite Alexia and Jenni. I know Ale has always wanted to meet him, so this would be a good opportunity. But I’d avoid inviting the other girls. They might scare him, I giggled.
- Okay. I’ll suggest they come to our place then. It’ll be more relaxed.
- Do you have enough to cook?
- If not, we’ll go grocery shopping or order pizzas. I don’t have to ask if Joan likes them, do I?
- He loves them, I said with a smile. But we already had some this weekend.
- That’s true... We could order Chinese instead?
- Owh. I’m not sure he’d like that. Oh, what if we made crepes? That’s a good idea, right?
- We could, but I thought you wanted to take Joan around the city? We won’t have time to do both.
- That’s true... But it’s not like he’s going to be interested in the city’s architecture at his age. A cooking session would be more fun for him, I think.
- Okay, we’ll go shopping then. Crepes it is?
- Yep. We’ll save your pizzas for next time.
- Alright, she teased softly. We’ll do that next time. I know how much you love them.
I smiled and nodded as she ran her hand through my hair, gently stroking it.
- A lot. If it were up to me, we’d have them again tonight, I confessed.
- You know, you can have them whenever you want now.
- I know, I sighed. That’s why I’m not pushing it. It wouldn’t be reasonable.
- Since when are you reasonable?
- Hey! I protested.
- What? she smiled mischievously. Want to know something? I’ve always loved your innocence.
- Really? I’ve never claimed to be an adult.
- Oh, I know that. Well, your innocence is part of why I love you.
The spontaneity of her words always gets to me. Plus, she continued to stroke my hair as if nothing had happened. Eventually, she stopped and kissed the corner of my mouth before getting up.
- Now that I’ve kept your mind occupied, it’s time to welcome your brother, right?
I looked up at the screen to see, to my surprise, that there were only two minutes left. I quickly stood up. My girlfriend pulled me close, wrapping her arm around my shoulders, and kissed my temple. Instinctively, I wrapped my arm around her lower back.
- Does that amuse you? I murmured into her neck when I heard her chuckle.
- A little. You’re very impatient, but so easy to distract.
- You knew the whole time, didn’t you? About tonight?
- Since we left the house. I said yes and already invited Jenni and Alexia.
Since my head was still nestled in her neck, I smiled freely. I can’t tell if I appreciate or dislike that she always knows what I want in advance. Since it wasn’t the time to debate it, I simply lifted my head from her neck.
- And you’re way too organized and decisive.
- Decisive, really? she laughed. I always gave you a choice.
- At school, you would always let me choose between two options, knowing full well which one I would pick.
"Well, it's true that I didn't give you much choice back there," she chuckles. "But it was for your own good."
I would have replied, but my attention is drawn to the people disembarking from the flight we've been waiting for. I step away from Lucy and move as close as possible to the others. Lucy quickly follows, keeping her hand on my back. I'm scanning for Joan, but I don't see anyone yet. I start to feel impatient as I realize we're nearing the end. Finally, I spot him holding the hand of a flight attendant. I smile, recognizing Shay. The message seems to have been passed along, which eases my mind. At least I know he was well taken care of and likely had a good flight. Shay looks surprised when my brother points me out to her, and he tries to break free to run to us, but Shay keeps hold of him. She only lets go when they're about a meter away, allowing my brother to run toward me. I kneel down to catch him and lift him into my arms, letting him hug me tightly.
"Ona!"
"Hey, sweetheart. Did you have a good flight?"
"Yeah, but it was long!"
"Oh, I bet it was," I chuckle. "Hey," I say, addressing Shay as she approaches, "were you the one looking after him?"
"Yes, I was asked to specifically, but now that I see you, I understand why."
I smile softly, glancing at Lucy, who has been quietly standing behind me this whole time, tracing patterns on my back with her fingers. I remember she talked to my mom about this just yesterday, ensuring Joan would have someone for the flight. For some reason, my mom insisted on having Lucy's contact information. Given what happened last time she found me, I guess it makes sense. Now she wants to be informed if anything unusual happens. I think it was just an excuse, but Lucy didn't mind, so I didn't argue. It’s strange knowing they’re in touch, but at least I know Lucy gets along well with my family. She’s even won over my brother, who is now asking to be held by my girlfriend. Lucy doesn’t hesitate to pick him up. The sight of them together warms my heart.
"Thank you," I say sincerely to Shay. "So, everything went well?"
"Yes, yes. He got very impatient toward the end, but overall, it went smoothly. Is he family?"
"He's my little brother," I reply. "Thanks for taking care of him."
"No problem, it’s my job. He was adorable. When’s his return flight?"
"Saturday at two o’clock."
"I’ll be on that flight too, so I can make sure he’s okay."
"My best friend will be with him, but it’s great to know. Thanks."
"It’s no trouble. Well, have a great weekend."
"Thanks, you too."
I turn back to the two most precious people in my life as Shay leaves. Joan is now on the ground, firmly holding my girlfriend’s hand.
"Are we going, Ona?" he asks, reaching out her other hand to me.
"Let’s go," I confirm. "We’ll just grab your suitcase first, and then we can finally enjoy ourselves."
With a big smile and a full heart, the three of us walk through the airport. I’m so happy to have Joan with us. These three days with them are going to be amazing. My mom couldn’t have given me a better gift.
Wednesday, February 24; 11:30 AM - Supermarket
"Is this good, Ona?" he asks, showing me a pack of gruyère cheese.
"Yep. You can put it in here," I say, handing him the basket. "Okay, let’s go find Lucy now."
After our little battle earlier over crepes, here we are doing the grocery shopping. When my brother heard the word, it was nearly impossible to get it out of his head. According to him, it’s been ages since he last had them, which was funny to hear. Knowing my mom, that’s probably almost true. When I was still living at home, we barely ever had them. To speed things up, we split up to find the ingredients.
"Are your new friends nice?" Joan asks, taking my hand again.
"They are, sweetie. You don’t need to worry," I reassure him. "And Mapi will be there too."
"Really?" he says excitedly. "She’s here too?"
"Yes," I giggle. "And Ingrid will be there. Do you remember her?"
"Mapi’s girlfriend?"
"Yes," I confirm with a smile. "She was nice, wasn’t she?"
"Mm-hmm."
We told him the news for tonight. He was a little nervous at first, but he wasn’t opposed to the idea. As we leave our aisle, I freeze for a moment when I see someone in front of us.
"Damn it," I mutter.
"You said a bad word, Ona."
"Yeah, I know, and that’s not good. Come on, hurry," I say, pulling her along.
"Why?"
I don’t answer and rush into the next aisle to find Lucy. I’m relieved to still see her here, choosing the last of the savory items.
"Lucy!"
"Hmm?" she responds indifferently.
"We need to leave!"
"Why?"
"I ran into Leah."
"What?" she frowns. "She lives in the center. What would she be doing here?"
"I swear, she was—"
"Ona?"
Both Lucy and I freeze. I was sure I saw her correctly, but the voice isn’t Leah’s. I look past Lucy to see Alessia at the other end of the aisle. I couldn’t say which of the two is worse to run into.
"Hey," I say with a forced smile.
"What are you doing here?" she asks, starting to walk toward us. "I thought you were in Barcelona."
Lucy points behind her, and I quickly understand she wants to take advantage of Alessia’s back being turned to slip away. I step aside to let her pass and move toward Alessia, but she groans, making me turn around to see Leah this time. We’re completely trapped, and to make matters worse, Joan tugs at my arm to get my attention.
"Who is that, Ona?" he whispers, pressing himself against me.
"Ona? B-Bronze?" Leah says in surprise. "What are you two doing here together?"
Her voice rises with a hint of anger, making me sigh. Joan starts to get scared of the newcomers and clings even more tightly to me. He asks to be picked up, so I do. Now, we’re face-to-face with both Leah and Alessia, who are staring at us. Alessia is the first to grasp what’s happening, breaking into a huge grin.
"No way! You and Bronze!? Was it her all this time?"
I groan as Lucy gives me a hard look.
"Don’t look at me like that. I never said anything about you."
"Really?" she arches an eyebrow. "That’s not what it seems like!"
"I figured it out on my own that there was someone in her life. She never confirmed it or gave me a name," Alessia defends me.
It’s Lucy’s turn to sigh. I hope she’s not too upset with me, even though I didn’t do anything wrong.
"Sorry," Alessia apologizes. "I just didn’t expect us to get found out here."
"Well, you’re crazy for hanging out together like this!" Leah scolds us. "There are plenty of students from Manchester, including us! Imagine if you ran into someone else!"
"Excuse me, Leah, but this is the first time I’ve ever seen students in my neighborhood," Lucy retorts, full of bitterness. "I should be the one asking what you’re doing here. You live downtown, and we’re in a small convenience store. The odds should have been very slim."
I chuckle at Lucy’s visible annoyance. I knew she wasn’t a fan of surprises, but this must be the last straw for her. My reaction doesn’t seem to please her, judging by the stern look she gives me. Even Joan is scared and clings to me more tightly. I understand him completely; I know how it feels to get on Lucy’s bad side.
"Relax," Alessia responds. "It’s not like we have anything against Ona or that we’re going to snitch on you. We were just surprised, right, Leah?"
"Hmm," she grumbles. "Dating is still risky," she insists.
Her comment earns her an elbow from her sister, as they’ve since switched places. It was unexpected to see them, but on the other hand, I feel relieved not to have to hide such a big secret from them anymore. I’ve gotten close to them since we’re in the same class, so it’s been pretty annoying to keep it from them. Especially since Alessia already had suspicions. I take this opportunity to ask her directly.
"You suspected it, didn’t you?"
"Yes," she admits with a small smile. "I didn’t want to push because every time we talked about it, you’d get angry."
Poor thing, I can’t even deny it. Alessia is very persistent, and it’s hard for me to handle since everyone else gives me the space I need. I remember she hesitated to bring up the topic during our last week of classes. It was probably to talk about Lucy. She was right not to ask me anything. I would have immediately shut down. Lucy sighs again, which prompts me to move closer and kiss her cheek.
"It’s okay, it’s fine."
"That makes three people, Ona," she says discontentedly.
"They’re my friends. Yours know too. I don’t see the problem."
"Mine aren’t at school. That’s the difference. And Leah’s right. I’m starting to think anyone could see us together if they can."
I wince as she abruptly pulls away. Without giving me time to respond, she takes the basket I was still holding and drops the ham inside.
"I’ll finish the shopping. Don’t take too long to join me."
No one dares argue with her as she walks away, clearly in a foul mood. I sigh, running my hand through my hair. This afternoon is likely to be tense now.
"Why is Lucy mad?" my little brother asks.
"Lucy?" Alessia repeats. "Oh... Bronze, I get it."
"Yeah... Another thing to keep to yourself. And don’t worry, Jo. It’ll be okay. »
- "She looks really scary like that," he whispered.
- "You haven't seen anything yet," Leah commented.
- "Stop it. Don’t scare him," I replied, frowning.
- "Is he your little brother?" Alessia asked.
- "Yes, this is Joan. He just arrived today, and he's going to spend a few days with us. Joan, this is Alessia and Leah. They're friends of mine from school."
His head, which was mostly buried in my neck, emerged to curiously look at them before he gave a shy smile when Alessia waved at him.
- "Will they be here tonight too?"
- "Uh... No, sorry," I giggled. "Maybe another time."
I adjusted her on my hip as I felt her starting to slip. Even though he's only six, he's slowly getting heavier.
- "Will everything be okay with Bronze?" Alessia grimaced. "We didn't mean to cause any trouble."
- "It’s fine, I’m starting to handle it," I reassured her with a small smile. "I'll let her cool off, and we’ll talk."
- "Sorry for getting carried away, but what I said was true," Leah continued.
- "I know. I think that's why she's upset, so don't take it personally. It’s just that you've brought up a major issue that didn’t exist before. We’ve been going out for a while, but we’ve never really paid attention to our surroundings."
- "For a while... you two?"
- "No, just a few weeks," I admitted honestly.
I could have gone into more detail, but I held back. After all, it’s a story that only concerns us. People don’t need to know that we went through ups and downs before getting together.
- "I thought it had been longer," Leah responded. "It seemed like you two had been circling around each other for a while."
- "It was a bit complicated for both of us at first," I stayed vague. "The most important thing is that we're together now."
- "And so you see each other outside of school?" Leah asked. "You’re both crazy. What if she dumps you because she's afraid of risking her career? We’ll have to pick up the pieces."
- "That’s not going to happen," I rolled my eyes. "We’re a solid couple."
- "Alexia’s girlfriend got fired. It could easily happen to Lucy."
- "And they’re still together. Anyway, I assure you, Lucy won’t dump me for that. But if you want her to be nice to you, I suggest you stop getting on her nerves. Especially since if we stay together, you'll have to deal with her in private, and it would bother me if you two didn’t get along."
- "Oh my God," Leah muttered as if imagining the scene. "Is she as annoying as she is at school?"
- "Of course not," I giggled. "She’s adorable with me."
- "I find it hard to picture her in 'adorable' mode," she repeated, mimicking quotation marks.
- "She certainly won’t be with you," I teased.
- "Hey, wait. If your brother is here, does that mean your parents know?"
- "My mom knows, yes. She found out when she came to see me after the fight with Korbin. She took it well and loved Lucy."
- "Wow. And she didn’t say anything?"
- "No. She was actually happy. Since my ex, I hadn’t opened up to anyone, and no one thought I’d get into another relationship so soon. She even invited Lucy to come with me to Barcelona three weeks ago."
- "Really?"
- "Yeah, they were on a weekend trip, so she told Lucy she could come along when she found out about us."
- "And what did you do during those holidays?" Leah asked. "I guess you didn’t go home."
- "No, we didn’t. We went to the Alps with her friends last week and then came back here. Alexia and Mapi are here too; they were with us."
- "Really?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "Even Mapi?"
- "Uh... yeah," I giggled. "She’s dating Ingrid, or rather Engen. So she’s at her place. We’ll see them tonight... hence the shopping."
- "Oh my God," she muttered. "This is all way too complicated. You really have a knack for getting into crazy situations."
- "Oh, please, it’s nothing bad. Anyway, the school year is almost over."
- "Ona," Lucy called out sharply. "Let’s go."
I turned around to see her waiting for us with a full basket. It seemed like my chatting had given her time to get everything done by herself. I looked up to see her expression just as stern as when she left. It didn’t seem like she had much time to calm down.
- "Well, see you soon then."
- "Yeah," Alessia smiled. "Good luck, and see you in a few days."
I thanked them and said goodbye before joining Lucy. Surprisingly, she offered me her hand when I reached her. I took it and let her lead me to the checkout. Despite her gesture, I could still feel her tension. Once again, I kissed her cheek.
- "They won't say anything, I promise."
- "I know. That’s not what bothers me, but the way they found out. Leah is right in what she said. Besides, I would have preferred to wait until the end of the year for your school friends to find out. I don’t want them to see me as anything other than your superior. They’ll think I’m showing favoritism, and we both know that’s not the case."
- "Everyone knows I have a special relationship with you. They won’t think that."
- "Yes, they will. They already do now. How many times have they teased you or made comments about me, huh?"
I blushed slightly, shrugging. Far too many times to count, really. As I just said, they know we have a special relationship. It’s no secret given how she acts differently with me than with other students. So, I often get gently teased about her. When we got to the conveyor belt, I put Joan down, and he was the first to start placing our items on the belt. Poor little thing. I had completely neglected him since our encounter with my friends.
- "Anyway, it’s done now," Lucy concluded.
- "Please don’t be in a bad mood. Not after these past few weeks, and I don’t want Joan to be scared of you. If you need to blow off steam, do it only in front of me."
She gave me a soft smile and surprised me by leaning in to kiss me.
- "That wasn’t my intention... I’m sorry for being so moody, but you can’t really blame me. You know as well as I do that we need to be more careful now."
- "Yes, you’re right. There's no such thing as zero risk, so I’m not going to argue about it, Lucy. If you decide we shouldn’t go out anymore, I’ll accept it."
- "No, I was just joking," I laughed. "I wouldn’t go that far. Besides, apart from coming here or to The United, we haven’t really gone out in Manchester."
- "We’ve visited your secret spots, the park, and even some galleries."
- "Don’t twist my words," she said, rolling her eyes. "If we take the park out of the equation, those aren’t places where we’re likely to run into students."
- "True," I giggled. "Thanks, though. I really expected you to stop us from going out."
- "Of course not," she smiled, gently pulling me into her arms. "Anyway, there are only a few months left. If I get fired, it won’t be dramatic since I plan on leaving next year anyway."
- "But that would bother me..." I admitted.
- "We’ll make sure that doesn’t happen, I promise. But just know that if it does, it won’t be the end of the world. I’ll leave without causing any fuss, and it won’t change our relationship."
I smiled against her lips as she kissed me firmly. This was exactly what I told Leah earlier. Lucy won’t leave me. We laughed softly as we pulled away when I heard Joan make a sound of disgust.
- "That’s really gross."
- "Hey, watch your language," I gently reprimanded him.
He shrugged like a cheeky little boy before turning his back on us and moving toward the cashier when it was our turn. I was stunned. He had never behaved like this with me before. I was starting to think that what Sam or Sofia told me when I left wasn’t exaggerated. Lucy snapped me out of my stupor with a soft giggle.
- "Are you still sure you want kids later?" she teased.
I groaned in displeasure, making her laugh even more. The surprise was such that I didn’t even know how to react. Finally, I moved forward to help pack our groceries. I listened to Lucy continue talking about tonight, but I looked up when I felt someone watching us. I realized it was true when I caught Alessia’s eyes observing us from afar. I gave her a gentle smile before my attention was drawn back to Lucy, who waved a hand in front of my eyes.
- "Are you listening to me?"
- "No, sorry. What were you saying?"
She raised an eyebrow, clearly not expecting that answer.
- "What’s got you so distracted?"
Before she could even look up to see Alessia, Joan chimed in with an answer.
- "It’s her friend from earlier. She’s been watching us since before."
Lucy narrowed her eyes slightly before looking at me as if expecting confirmation. I shrugged indifferently, not finding the information particularly important. She then turned to my brother.
- "Really? And how was she looking at us?"
- "Luce-"
I stopped when I saw her raised hand, signaling me to be quiet. I placed our last item in the basket just as Lucy pulled out her credit card. I felt a bit guilty letting her pay for everything, but she insisted.
- "She was looking at Ona a lot. Kind of like Emma at my school. My friends say she wants to be my girlfriend but is too scared to talk to me."
I didn’t know what to think or what to worry about more after hearing that revealing statement. Joan is only in first grade, so it’s strange that he’s already talking about girlfriends, even if it’s harmless at that age. Lucy, however, seemed to have made her choice on the most important subject to discuss.
- "Is she still interested in you?" she surprised me by asking.
- "We’re friends," I replied. "I’ve always made it clear I’m not interested."
- "That wasn’t my question, Ona."
I sighed, shrugging as she put away her credit card after paying. As I’ve said many times, I’m not the best at reading people.
- "I don’t know," I admitted. "But if she still had hope, I think she just lost it."
She nodded, taking my free hand. The other was busy holding our packed shopping basket. Before we headed toward the exit, she pressed her lips firmly against mine, prolonging the kiss as if to make sure we were seen. That was definitely her intention.
- "I hope so. Because I’m not sharing you. You’re mine."
I blushed, discovering this new side of her that I hadn’t known before. With Feli, I hated her possessiveness, but it’s a different story with Lucy. I felt warm and reassured at the same time.
- "Why do you think I was never interested in her?" I retorted. "If I hadn’t met you first, I might have given her a chance."
My honesty caught her attention immediately. I’d be lying if I said Alessia isn’t my type. Besides her persistence, we have a lot in common. Lucy was about to respond, but I quickly cut her off before she got the wrong idea.
- "You already had too much of a hold on my mind for me to look elsewhere, darling. No matter what I might have done before meeting you, know that no one can compare to you now. You’re the only one I need and want."
I could say so many wonderful things about her to make her understand that since we met, nothing has been the same for me. She managed to fix me and bring back a missing part of my life. If she were to leave, it would be like losing a part of my soul. I realized that when we were apart.
- "I’m sorry. It’s just that I’m afraid you’ll find someone better than me."
- "That’s not going to happen."
The thoughtful expression she had disappeared, finally replaced by a wonderful little smile. She gently pulled me close and kissed my temple.
- "I know, I’m sorry. I love you, my love."
I closed my eyes for a few seconds, smiling in return. I didn’t know what she had been thinking, but it seemed I had managed to change her mind. As for me, I really couldn’t have dreamed of a better new life. If only she knew how much I care about her. She is my everything.

characters: matthew x gn!reader
description: you and matthew spend a day off together in your apartment
genre: pure fluff with the smallest hint of suggestiveness lol
word count: 981 words
warnings: food and hint of suggestiveness (kissing/making out) but lmk if there's more :) maybe some word errors sorry!!
a/n: hi anon ty for requesting <3 i honestly agree bc i barely see matthew posts on there and he deserves way more!!
this is probably the most suggestive thing i've ever written (ik im breaking my own rules) so expect more woohyun than matthew
also this is written with the idea that you and matthew have been together for a long time and finally live together! so enjoy bc i'm hella delulu for him LMAO
"love?" you faintly heard matthew say. you groaned as you woke up from your sleep. just as your eyes slightly opened, they shut right away as the sun rays hit them.
"hmm?" you mumbled, trying to go back to dreamland. he softly shook you while also wrapping his arms around your body.
"it's almost ten and we haven't gotten out of bed yet." he informed you. wait ten? you rose up from your comfortable position to see your boyfriend matthew laying next to you with a bright smile on his face.
he ran his hand through your hair, "wait it's ten already?" you asked. from looking outside your wide window, you already noticed people walking down the street as well as cars zooming by. but neither of you had work today so this was simply a day to relax.
"yup and we need to get up. i let you sleep for longer today but it's already going to be ten o'clock. plus, i want to eat your pancakes."
you playfully rolled your eyes at the last part of his sentence, "fine."
matthew giggled, "and good morning to you too."
"but you make them better." he grinned then somehow got even closer to you than he was just a second ago.
with that he pressed his lips against yours. you rested your hand on his chest as he put his on your cheek. his chaste kisses melted you as you kissed back.
he continued as he ran his hands around your body along with you running yours on his abs (who else died). matthew turned his head to the left to change his position.
you moved your hands to wrap around his shoulders but as just things were about to get heated he pulled away but not without kissing you once more.
"i love you." he stated, pressing his forehead against yours. you chuckled then kissed his nose.
"i love you too."
you finally got out of bed and went to prep yourself in the morning by washing your face and brushing your teeth, as well as doing some basic skincare to get your skin glowing.
"love?" you heard behind you, turning around you saw matthew right behind you. "i'm going to shower now."
"okay i'll make the pancakes." you grinned only for matthew to pout.
"that wasn't the answer i was hoping for." but nonetheless, he hopped into the shower which left you then alone in the kitchen.
the pancake mix began to sizzle on the pan as you poured the liquid onto it. mornings like this were always the best.
matthew was the one who asked if you wanted to live together and you obviously said yes to it. a year had already passed since you two began living together and it's safe to say that you've been more happier than ever being able to wake up next to the love of your life.
but you two had been dating for what felt like a decade. you met in university and it was love at first sight. matthew was persistent on getting your number and always found a way to get you to talk with him, and luckily it worked!
since then you haven't looked back which led you to where you are now. matthew moved out of the zerobaseone dorm to live with you which had the members jokingly ridiculing him for being in love. but they were also close with you as you visited the dorms plenty of times before.
midst in your train of thoughts, you felt a pair of hands from behind wrap themselves around you.
"that smells amazing." he said.
"you always say that." you replied, matthew went to open the curtains in the living room giving more light for the apartment.
"because it's true." he popped himself down on the couch to turn on the tv and play the k-drama you two recently left on.
with the pancakes finally done, you plated them and poured syrup on them along with a few blueberries sitting at the top. though you preferred sitting at the dining table, you followed your boyfriend and went to go sit on the couch with him.
you handed him his plate to which he smiled and kissed you on the forehead, "thank you love."
your cheeks began heating up as you managed to reply, "your welcome."
each time you heard him say 'love', you felt yourself turn numb. that word definitely had an effect on you and matthew knew it since he keeps using it to get a reaction from you.
as you dug into the food, you sat there while cuddling each other, tuning into the drama playing. so far there wasn't much tension between the two actors but he insisted this was a good drama since taerae recommended it to him.
"so any plans for today?" you asked. he shrugged but moved his head to rest on your shoulder.
"hmm, i'm thinking of going on a walk, if you want."
"that sounds good." you nodded.
"but most of all i just want to spend time with you today. y'know we finally got a day off like you had been wanting."
he wasn't wrong, you were waiting for a day where matthew can just rest at home and spend time with you. it was rare that he got days like this since he was almost always stuck at the wakeone building.
"and i'm glad."
"me too love."
thereafter, you sat in the peaceful silence watching tv. even though he would return to his busy idol life tomorrow, you wanted time to stop and to sit with matthew all day.
you didn't take being with matthew for granted and were so thankful you agreed to living with him. nothing is better than this. maybe soon you could spend the rest of your life with him but the present was already perfect.

A Perfect Puzzle Piece (Sam Winchester x Reader fluff)
Request:
More Sam Winchester Fluff pwease? I need more soft boy Sam lol. I’ll leave the story up to you
Pairing: Sam x Reader
Warnings: I mean period pains I guess? Other then that just fluff :)
Word count: 837
Note: Wrote this few years ago. Like/ reblog or both if you like it :)
Your head hit the soft pillow as your tired body went under the freshly washed covers of the bed you shared with your other puzzle piece. Sadly he wasn’t there to spread his arms so you could fit into his body perfectly. Out and about, he was working with his big brother, trying to find a way to stop The Darkness from completely destroying the world you once saw as beautiful. The truth was the world was now nothing but ugly and dark, you were just lucky to have found a little bit of light in Sam and Dean. You would always go with them but being a woman came with one little thing-periods and period craps. Every month you’d have those sharp waves of pain that were at times unbearable. Today was one of those days…you woke up and immediately wanted to die. It was a perfect morning….
The pain, the ugly feeling knowing a pad is between your legs and the feeling like you were heavier twice your actually weight plus the unexpected acne…It was like that time you almost got killed by a demon. The motherfucker got you good until Sam jammed a knife in his heart. Ah good times…
You were in so much pain you couldn’t get up, and you tried. At one point you were crying wishing desperately you were a man but it was useless. You took the pain meds and even took a shower hoping hot water would calm the situation but it didn’t. Sam and Dean got worried as always, even though you told them a million times first days were always the most painful for you. Finally you convinced them to go and do their research wherever that might be and just to leave you to sleep off this whole situation. And that’s what you did…Spending a whole day in bed with Sam’s scent all over the sheets wasn’t so bad after all. You hugged his pillow inhaled the sweet smell of his shampoo not thinking of the blood war between your legs, and for just few minutes the pain stopped and you got to close your eyes, drifting to dream land faster than Dean running towards pie. After you woke up, you were pain free but still alone. Even though he was out for only a couple of hours you missed him and the loneliness kicked in.
“When will you come home? I miss you.” You texted him.
Few seconds later your phone buzzed. “Tonight. We can’t find Crowley, this whole trip was useless. I miss you too. How’re you feeling?”
“The pain is gone for now but I’m sad and I don’t know why.” You press send.
Few seconds later… “It’s okay to be sad. We will be home soon, I promise.”
“I love you Sammy.”
“I love you too. See you soon.”
That was at 6pm that day.
The rest of the day you, of course, spent in bed watching old movies on Sam’s laptop until you got a headache and decided to go and sleep at 2am. It felt like you had spent that whole day working; you were drained, still sad and just done with life and motherfucking nature. You just needed Sam and his hugs.
At the end he kept his promise. He came back with Dean at around 3am while you were already fast asleep. He took a quick shower got into his pajamas and without a sound joined you. He wrapped his arm around your waist as you slowly drifted back to reality. He placed small kissed on your neck sending shivers all over your body. When you realized your perfect puzzle piece was back you slowly opened your eyes and turned around to face him, snuggling against his warm body.
“You’re back.” You mumbled, feeling a genuine wave of happiness consuming you.
“Hey.” He smiled. “Sorry I woke you up. How’re you feeling?”
“I’m glad you did. Still feel like crap, but better. How was the trip?”
“Useless and tiring. “ He said as his long fingers were playing with your messy and now tangled bed hair. “I missed you.”
“I missed you too.” Feeling safest as you can possibly be, right there in his arms, with your heart beating fast and your cheeks blushing uncontrollably, your legs went between his as your body climbed on top of him while your lips kissed him hungrily. “Cuddle me.”
Sam gasped by surprise and laughed, feeling your body against his. That’s how pure bliss and comfort looks. That’s how love looks like. It was dark as it can possibly be, but you could still see the beautiful lines on his face and his breath taking hazel eyes glowed in the same darkness. The same could be said about him, your features and silhouette were still visible. His hand brushed away your hair so he could study you more.
“I love you.” He said. “I can’t believe I found you.”
“To the moon and back Sammy.” You said and kissed him again.

The Insincerity of the Stars
Suguru Getou
[Chapter 25] Moving On
← Previous Chapter - Story Masterlist
Pairing: Suguru Getou x f!Reader
Chapter Warnings: Angst, Mentions of Stabbing
Discord +18 - Twitter - Ko-Fi
*Can't believe this is the end, I had so much fun writing this
Suguru doesn’t come to your apartment that night. You’re thankful for the loneliness because it helps you figure out what you want to do. You’re obviously going to leave him, but you’re not sure how. Do you want to leave town again, or do you want to stay and attempt to move on?
You work together, so leaving seems like the best option. But running away feels like what you always do. You learned that Suguru will find you anyway. Maybe you can move on, find someone new and start over right here. It also seems like a sweet method of revenge. Suguru watching as you move on. But that thought leaves your mind quickly. You don’t know if Suguru even cares for you, plus moving on just to get revenge isn’t good for you.
Thinking about yourself is what you should do. Getting revenge should be the last thing on your mind. Moving on with your life, and trying to be happy– Whether it’d be by yourself or with someone else, here or in the middle of nowhere.
The raging side of you wants to break it off the worst way possible. Have Suguru catch you cheating on him with some other guy, however, that won’t end well. You don’t want Suguru to look down on you for that, in fact, you want him to end things somewhat well so he’ll forever think about how severely he messed everything up. You’ll confront him, and that’s it. That’ll be the way you end things off.
Just thinking about it makes you feel as if your heart is about to beat out of your chest. Your blood boils while tears flood your eyes. You knew Suguru would mess up, just not like this. You never expected Suguru to betray you with another woman.
You can’t sleep that night, you toss and turn on your bed until the sun is nearly out again. That’s when your body can finally fall asleep. You wake up around four hours later, extremely tired but even more nervous about how you’ll deal with everything today. You know that he’ll show up here soon. He’ll show up, apologize for everything, and then ask what’s wrong. You can already hear him ask where your engagement ring is. Just that mere thought fuels you up, and you grip your toothbrush a little too hard when you brush your teeth.
You find it hard to get ready that morning, but you refuse to stay in your bed and cry for him. You won’t waste your day nor your tears on him.
You want to text Shoko, but you know better. She was opposed to the relationship since it began, so you doubt you’ll hear words that will make you feel better. You have no one to comfort you at this time, and it’d be one of the things that pain you the most, if it weren’t for the fact that your fiancée has literally been lying to you for the past six months. He’s becoming a father.
You sit on your couch, just looking out the window. Feeling lifeless. You shouldn’t even be feeling like this because you swore you were ready to take it when Suguru would screw up again.
You’re so lost that you fail to hear the door open. You feel him kiss the top of your head, and you feel nauseous. You regret giving him a spare key to your place.
“Good morning, my love. How are you doing?” Suguru asks, and your jaw clenches. He takes a seat next to you, and he grabs your left hand. He immediately notices your engagement ring missing, you never take it off. “Where’s your ring? Did you forget to put it on?”
“I gave it away.” You answer, not bothering to look at him while you take your hand back. Just touching him makes you want to puke. You have to scoot away from him because he’s too close for your liking, and his cologne is a pungent smell. “I was thinking about selling it and going on a nice vacation, but I saw this homeless woman and thought about how she needs it more than me. I have enough money to go on a vacation.”
“What? Are you crazy? That was my mother’s ring. A very expensive ring, dare I tell you.” Suguru sounds agitated when you respond. You stand up and begin to walk to your bedroom. He stands up and begins to follow.
“Yeah, I know it’s expensive. That’s why I gave it away.” You nonchalantly reply. You begin to look through your drawers for your scissors, and when you find it, you go through your closet. You pick Suguru’s clothes and begin to cut them up, and Suguru’s eyes widen.
“What the hell has come over you?” He asks, trying to take the scissors out of your hands when he sees you cutting up one of his favorite shirts. It’s why you picked that one to start on. “What the hell?!”
“Over me? I’m fine, Suguru!” You raise your voice when he takes the scissors out of your hand. You push him away since he stands too close to you, “What the hell is wrong with you?! You really thought I wouldn’t find out?!”
“Find out what?” Suguru questions, attempting to act confused but you can’t buy it. Even if you tried, you couldn’t. Your bottom lip quivers and you can’t even look at him. You’re not going to break down in front of him, “Find out what?!”
“Don’t play dumb, Suguru! I’m so fucking tired of your shit. Why did you get back with her?! Is this some kind of joke to you?!” You yell at him, and Suguru freezes. He’s been caught. “You know what? Congratulations. You’re becoming a father.”
“Baby… Please. Let’s talk about it.” Suguru changes his voice so it’s so much more gentle. He takes a seat on the side of your bed, scratching his head. “It’s not what you think–”
“That baby is yours, isn’t it?” You ask him. Suguru doesn’t respond until you raise your voice, repeating the same question, “That baby is yours, isn’t it, Suguru?!”
“Yes! It’s mine but–” He begins but you cut him off as you laugh in utter disbelief.
“Take your stuff and leave. You’re a fucking idiot. What were you even planning on doing in marrying me? Were you planning on leaving me at the altar?” You question, your voice breaking as you speak. This is much harder than you thought. Suguru just thinks of what to say, and the silence slowly kills you. “Answer!”
He grabs your hand and pulls you closer to him, before wrapping his arms around your waist. You try to push him away, but he won’t let you. “Let go of me, Suguru.”
“I love you so much, please…” He begins and your hands go to his face, only for your nails to dig into his skin. It hurts him, but he isn’t going to complain when bigger issues are on his plate. “Please… You’re the love of my life. I wanted to get married fast so we could move away and forget about everyone and everything here. I landed a job in a town that’s two hours away, and that was going to be my excuse. Let’s move away and pretend as if nothing happened.”
“Suguru, you cheated on me. You don’t understand how big that is. I can’t just look past that.” You respond, a million thoughts flooding your head. “How can I even trust you after you left me last night just to meet up with her? Who do you even love?”
“I love you. Just you. I’d die without you. Let’s just move away.” His voice is so soft while speaking to you. He looks up at you, his eyes so tender, and there’s a spark behind them. He isn’t lying, but at this point what the hell do you know.
“Move away? You’re becoming a father… What are you planning on doing? Abandoning your child?” You’re baffled. You furrow your eyebrows while looking down on him, as you remove your fingernails from his face. You’d almost feel bad for the bit of blood that comes out, but Suguru deserves that and more “Abandoning your child for what?”
“I love you. You’re the only person I need in my life. I’m sure he’d grow up fine without me.” He responds.
“I’m the only person you need?” You scoff. “Then why did you go back to her when we started dating? Don’t fucking lie to me.”
“My mother asked me to! She asked me to see her for a while and see if I wanted to get back with her. I was planning on leaving her after a month or two but she got… Pregnant.” He ends up confessing. “But we can leave, baby. Just me and you. We’re all we need. We can start our own little family somewhere else and–”
Instead of cutting him off by speaking, you cut him off by spitting on his face. When he feels your saliva on his nose, running down, he can’t speak. He finally lets go of you and wipes it off. “You’re an idiot if you think I’m ever starting a family with you.”
You begin to look through the closet again, picking out his clothes and throwing them on the floor. He stands up and gets in front of you before getting on his knees, tears welling up in his eyes and they spill when he begins to talk.
“Please… We can work this out.” He begins and instead of throwing the clothes on the floor, you throw them directly at him. You’re trying your best to make it hurt. “Can we please talk about it?”
“Suguru, if you’re not out of this apartment in five minutes–” You pick up the scissors that he tossed aside. “I’m stabbing you.”
“Baby, please… Let’s give it some time.”
Suguru wasn’t out of your apartment in those five minutes, and you stuck to your word. He ended up going on a trip to the hospital with a pair of scissors in his abdomen. A random pair of scissors he ran into, magically; or at least that’s what he told the doctor and nurses. His now ex-fiancée had nothing to do with it.
Afterwards he tries to talk to you about it, but you refuse to see him. You don’t share an office anymore so ignoring him is fairly easy. He tries to tell you how much he loves you, then he tries to guilt trip you. This time he realizes he’s lost you, and it pains him more than anything.
His last attempt to talk to you is by leaving the ultrasound picture of your baby, a picture he has carried around for years. In the back he wrote the name he wanted for the baby, and then how much he loved you. How he needed to talk to you so desperately. But it didn’t work.
On the contrary, you were gone the very next day.
-
Five years go by, and Suguru just looks out the window, hoping that he’ll see you again. He hopes to randomly see you, but he doubts that he’ll ever find you in the suburbs. He still holds onto that hope though.
He’s a father now, and he’s also married. He wishes he could say he loves his life the way it turned out, but he truly doesn’t. If it weren’t for his son, he’d absolutely hate it. He doesn’t like his home life, so he spends most of his time working. He adores his son, but Suguru holds this resentment– Which isn’t his child’s fault, but often he wonders what could’ve been. He wonders where he’d be right now if he had gotten to marry you. If you had chosen to leave with him.
Whenever Suguru gets home, he tries to do so as quietly as possible. He doesn’t like drawing the attention to him to then be bombarded by questions by his wife. None of them about his day, just nagging about things he has to do. It feels like he married his mother, and he hates it. He often thinks about getting a divorce, but that’s just dumb. He’s lost everything, he might as well stick with this.
“Daddy!” Suguru hears, and he smiles. That’s all Suguru has. He picks up the five-year-old that comes running to him, and Suguru kisses his forehead.
“How are you? How was your day?” Suguru asks, and as soon as he says that, he hears his name. A sigh escapes his lips before he puts his son down on the floor. “What?!”
“You got some mail!” His wife yells from the kitchen, and Suguru walks to the kitchen. He goes to the counter and grabs the opened envelopes. There’s truly no privacy in the house, and he hates it. “Who is Shoko?”
“Shoko?” Suguru responds, furrowing his eyebrows. He looks for the envelope that might have something containing anything from Shoko. He finds it, and he finds a wedding invitation. He feels his heart stop, thinking that you’re getting married to Shoko. But he sees the other name, and it’s not yours. “She’s an old friend…”
“Really? How long ago because I’ve never heard of her and she’s sending you a wedding invitation.” She says, making Suguru sigh. He wonders why she’s doing this. Shoko hasn’t bothered to communicate with him in the past five years. She doesn’t have to show off anything since she isn’t marrying you so… Why did she decide to send an invitation? “Suguru? Aren’t you going to answer? Don’t you think I forgot that little stunt you pulled while I was pregnant.”
“Shut up, you’re so irritating. I just got home.” Suguru ends up walking away. His brain is going a thousand miles an hour. He reads the invitation over and over again while he walks to the living room, and his son follows behind him. His son sits down beside him on the couch.
“What’s that, daddy?”
“Just got something from an old friend, buddy. Nothing fun.”
-
Suguru decides to go to Shoko’s wedding. He has nothing to lose, and he came to the conclusion that maybe he’ll see you there. Maybe he can convince you to leave with him this time. It’s been five years, you’re definitely less mad than before. Although his plan isn’t so easy. His wife wants to join him.
His plan seems nearly impossible to accomplish when he doesn’t see you in the ceremony. You’re not the other bride, and he doesn’t see you sitting around anywhere. His wife sees how he’s searching for something, but she doesn’t get any kind of answer when she asks what he’s looking for.
At the reception is when he finally sees you. Looking as beautiful as ever, wearing a navy blue dress that’s outshined by the beautiful diamonds on your neck, your wrist and your ears. His heart skips a beat, and he feels his face get warm. And then he realizes that Shoko arranged for you to sit together. It feels like Shoko and the universe are on his side.
You blatantly ignore him when you take a seat, and that’s what he focuses on until the blond man takes a seat beside you and kisses your cheek. His wife is glaring at you, remembering you as clearly as yesterday, while Suguru holds back tears realizing that you’ve moved on. But then he thinks about Hiromi and how he managed to scare Hiromi away, why can’t he do that with this fool.
“Kento, I have to use the bathroom. I’ll be right back.” You stand up and begin to walk away. Suguru takes a hint, or he thinks he does and ends up standing up. He’s thinking about his engagement party, and the very fun events which he thinks about way too often.
Suguru walks into the bathroom, and locks the door behind him so no one else can come in. You’re the only one occupying a stall. When you finish using the bathroom, your eyes widen when you see Suguru leaning against the sinks, waiting for you. You begin to wash your hands, trying your best to ignore him.
“You look really beautiful tonight.” Suguru says, and you ignore him as you wash your hands. You promised yourself that you wouldn’t talk to him ever again, even if it’s been five years since you left him again. But you have so many questions.
“Meet me outside in an hour or so.” You tell him while drying your hands, and he holds back a smile.
-
Suguru waits outside, his hands in his pockets as he looks around for you. It’s the beginning of summer, so he doesn’t mind waiting outside because it’s warm. He hears the distant sound of the music that comes from the inside but it’s overshadowed by the sound of crickets. He takes a deep breath and looks up at the night sky.
“Hi…” He hears, and that’s when he sees you. With your date right beside you. Suguru weakly smiles as he greets you two. Your lips kiss your date before you tell him, “I’ll be back inside in a minute, baby. I promise it’ll be okay.”
Kento cups your face and kisses your lips, leaving his lips on yours for a long moment so Suguru will take the hint. Suguru doesn’t have all night, he told his wife that he needed a moment, and he knows she’ll be out here in a couple of minutes to bother him. Kento pulls away and walks away.
“Is he your boyfriend?” Suguru questions and you furrow your eyebrows at the question. Mainly because his initial thought was that Kento was a boyfriend and not your husband.
“Husband.” You answer. “I just wanted to see how you’ve been..” You lie. You don’t really care. You just want to see where he’s at in life, and the petty side of you wants to see if you’ve won. Although that’s not something you can measure. And maybe you want to brag. “How’s your wife? Your kid?”
“They’re… Fine.” Suguru replies. He can’t ask you to leave with him now because he’ll get rejected. He does have a question though, “Do you… hate me? I mean you did stab me and after that I never heard from you– Not that I didn’t give you a reason to hate me.”
“Hmm… I don’t.” You respond. “For a long time I thought I did. But then I met Kento. I got a mother-in-law who loves me. A husband who used to put me above anyone else. I thought I still hated you until I got married, and on my wedding night I realized that if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have met the love of my life.”
“He used to put you above everything?” Suguru asks, sticking to one part of all you said. He’s trying to paint Kento in a bad light. “What happened? Shouldn’t he always put you above–”
“We had kids. We had our daughter and then our son. He puts them above everyone and everything else. I want him to. I don’t need a man that puts a woman above his own kid.” You interrupt him, and Suguru bites down on his lip, knowing that your last sentence is meant to criticize him.
“You’re a mother now? Congratulations. That’s so nice to hear.” He feels the tears welling up in his eyes, feeling hurt that you’ve moved on. Hypocritical. He chews on the inside of his cheek before he blurts out, “Are you happy?”
“I never thought I could ever be so happy.” You smile. “How about you?”
“No.” He ends up shaking his head, his voice breaking and a tear escaping his eye. You end up pouting, almost feeling bad for him. You wrap your arms around him and he returns your hug. You pat his back while he says, “I miss you so much. I love you. I hate life without you.”
“Aw…” You say, holding back on smirking, knowing that in the end you won. “This is what you chose Suguru. Maybe you should’ve thought twice before deciding to make your mother happy.”
“I know, baby. I know. I think about you all the time. About our life.” He tells you as you pull away from the hug, and he tries to hang on because he’s not ready to let go.
“Shouldn’t you be happy? In the end you’ve made your mother happy by marrying her.” You respond, holding back on smiling. “This is what you chose. You should be happy. I know I’m over the moon with what I chose.”
“I just… I miss you so much.”
“I know.” You tell him. “I should get back inside. Kento is waiting for me. Plus, I promised Shoko I’d dance with her.”
“Okay…” Suguru awkwardly says, watching as you walk away. He tries to stop the tears before walking back inside, and while he does so, his wife walks out.
“Why– Are you okay?” She notices how he wipes away his tears.
“I love her.”

It's Always Been You
Pairing:Aris x gender neutral reader
Summary:When a new group arrives at WCKD Aris's behavior is definitely off when one of them starts flirting with you.
Aris and I are opposites in every way. I guess that's what drew us into each other. I know I could tell him anything without it being spread around, and he knows I'm always here even if it's just to sit in silence. Plus, the fact that we had been here the longest out of everyone definitely helped.
We were eating lunch together as he told me what he heard in the vents. I was about to ask what he meant when the door opened. In walked a group larger than any of the others and looking very out of place. An Asian boy with dark hair looked at me and smiled. A different boy with blonde hair saw this and nudged him in the ribs. I laughed a little at their bickering, and the boy winked at me.
I looked back at Aris to see he was clutching his silverware so tight I thought it would snap in half. "Are you alright?"I asked.
"Fine,"He said, not looking at me. I reached for his hand like I always do when he's upset, but he snatched it away. He didn't say a word for the rest of lunch.
♡ - - - ♡
I had been trying to get him to talk to me for the rest of the day, but he would only give me a one word response. By the time dinner came around I was tired of it. I'm not frustrated he doesn't want to talk. I'm frustrated that he's being so passive aggressive. When he wants to sit in silence he always tells me. It's clear that's what he wants so why can't he just say that?
Eventually, I gave up on having a conversation with him and accepted that he wasn't going to tell me what was wrong today. He wouldn't even look at me.
As we sat in an uncomfortable silence I felt someone come up and tap me on my shoulder. I turned around to see the boy from this morning.
"What's up?"I asked with a friendly smile.
"You've been here for a while, right?"He questioned. "Yeah. Me and Aris actually,"I answered, pointing behind me. He just looked at me puzzled. "You and the boy in the hoodie?"
I nodded and turned around to see he was gone. He wasn't anywhere in the cafeteria anymore.
Worry flooded through me. He'd been acting strange all day, and now he's gone. It'd be one thing if he left, but the fact that he slipped out without a word is another red flag.
"Excuse me one moment,"I said politely before leaving out the backdoor. For some reason guards never looked at this one so he must have left this way.
I quickly yet quietly made my way to his room. I didn't even bother to ask how he got in as I banged on his door. When no one answered I knocked harder and started yelling his name. I didn't stop until he opened the door just enough for me to see him.
"I'm busy,"He mumbled.
"Busy with what? There is literally nothing to do here,"I reminded him. He just shook his head and mumbled something incoherent.
"Aris, please let in,"I begged. He didn't say anything as he shut the door. I thought he was just going to lock me out until I heard the buzz of the door opening so I could come inside.
I took a seat on the bed as he stood there awkwardly before joining me. "Are you okay? You disappeared halfway through dinner."
"Nice of you to notice,"He responded so quietly if I wasn't two inches away I wouldn't have heard it.
"I always notice when something's off. You've been off since this morning,"I said, reaching for his hand. He pulled away even quicker this time, as if my touch could burn him.
"Do you want to sit in silence?"I offered.
"I want you to leave."
"I'm not leaving you alone when you're this upset. I won't speak, but I'm not leaving you alone,"I said firmly, trying to look him in the eye. He just looked up and blankly stared at me. It was like he wasn't all there.
"I'll leave if you look me in my eyes and say it. If you look at me and tell me to go I will."
"You can't do this to me Y/N. I can't do this to myself. Just stop,"He pleaded, close to tears.
"Stop what? Just tell me, and I will,"I promised. "Stop doing that! Stop grabbing my hand! Stop running after me! Stop checking on me! Just stop making it so easy to love you!"He choked out through sobs.
I stared at him as he sat next to me close to breaking down. I didn't know what to say.
Instead, I grabbed his face and kissed him. I could feel him tense at first before kissing back like his life depended on it. I could taste the tears that had been running down his face as he deepened it. We didn't stop until we needed air.
"I'm in love with you Aris. I've always been in love with you."

little artist Dad!Tony stark x daughter!reader
Summary: you love art and your dad has always supported that, but the media has other things to say.
Warnings: anxiety attack, the media being jerks,
+•°+*°•++•°+*°•++•°+*°•++•°+*°•+
*reader is around 15 here*
You were painting a random landscape, when your dad walked into the art studio he had made for you, a few months back he turned an empty room into a art studio for you to paint in, it had a window next to the easel in the corner. Lots of your art work had been Hung on the walls, a few small desks that had paint tubes, watercolor, brushes, and colored pencils on them, you also liked to just sketch while sitting at the desks.
"Hey pumpkin, wacha making?" Your dad asked walking over to you and the half done painting,
"It looked nice out today so i decided to paint it" you said referring to the sunrise shining through a tree in the window, your father hummed a response, patting you on the back he asked what you wanted to eat for breakfast that morning,
"What do you want to eat?"
"Burger king" you said smiling looking up at your father,
"Baby its 6 am i doubt burger king is even open" your dad said following you as you walked down to hall to the bathroom to wash the excess paint off of your hands.
"How bout, pancakes" your dad asked you leaning on the doorway with his arms crossed over his chest
"Yeah pancakes sound good" you said drying your hands off, your father nodded his head in direction of the elevator.
+•°+*°•+
you had just finished lunch (burger king) when you got a text from peter,
'Hey i thought you might wanna see this before it gets big or sm' it had a web link, you opened it and felt that familiar feeling, that was like disappointment, anger, and sadness all in one, and it read,
'Y/N MARIA STARK: THE UNACCOMLISHED STARK,' you read the title over and over again, tears welled up in your eyes, it had always been like this, constant hate, some even said you weren't even his daughter, that one hurt the most,
It was confusing too, you looked exactly like tony, though you had your mothers eye color (grey or blue) and her lips, every little detail about you was mainly tony, especially when it came to your personality, you were just as cocky as him, just as sassy, and plus just about the whole team made the joke that you were a female version of him, (which you were) but the media didn't care.
As the tears threatened to spill you started walking to your room, not wanting to brake down in the middle of the tower. You shut the door and fell into your bed, hugging a pillow as tight as you possibly could, as you felt the first tear fall down your cheek, you broke.
Sobbing into your pillow, trying to stay quiet so that no one would hear, Friday had to be the little taddle tail she is, and told the one person you didn't want coming in right now.
Dad. You were trying to stay quiet so he wouldn't hear because last time you saw him he was in a good mood, you didn't want to ruin that.
+•°+*°•+
"Boss, Y/N is in her room in need of your assistance" Friday spoke up getting tonys attention,
"What for?" Tony asked looking up from his damaged suit he was repairing
"She is having a anxiety attack, though im not sure what for" as Friday said the last word of her sentence, tony was already bolting to the elevator, heading straight to your room.
"How bad is it?"
"Not as bad as last time" last time you had an anxiety attack was months ago, you rarely had them you never let any of the articles get to you, but this time it was just to much.
As tony went to open your door he found it locked,
"Friday" tony said this one word and the door was unlocked in a second, you also heard him say this, which scared you causing you to jump, as tony opened the door he ran over to you, immediately cradling you in his arms, rocking you back and forth, whispering words of comfort.
When you eventually calmed down, you looked up at your father, sniffing you spoke up
"Hey dad" you said your voice cracking halfway through 'dad'
"Hey sweetheart, you good now?" Tony asked raking his fingers through your hair, you nodded in response, resting your head back on his chest softly,
"What got you all rattled up anyways?" He asked looking down at you, you told him the whole story, stopping to sniffle or cough from time to time, a few minutes of tony comforting you later, he spoke up.
"Hey what do you say i let you draw me, would that cheer you up?" You snapped your head up nodding violently, tony didn't like being drawn, so this was special to you, you both hopped up, while walking to your studio tony held your hand the whole way there, forgetting to let go as you let go of him (or tried to) to grab a stool for him, and flipped your easel around, your back facing the wall,
As you began to paint him you got an idea. To draw a giant mustache on him >:)))))))
Kind of Like this
When you eventually finished a few minutes later (15 - 20) you flipped your easel around to reveal your masterpiece 😈
Tony chuckled before gripping onto the back of your neck, pulling you closer to him he gently pecked your forehead, before you wrapped him in a tight hug.

Hey, y’all, it’s Weird Wednesday! Where on some Wednesdays, I blog about weird stuff and give writing prompts.
Today: Lizzie Borden: An Imperfect Crime
Welcome to Weird Wednesday! Today we’re visiting 1892 Fall River, Massachusetts. It’s a hot August day, and the house beside us is about to go from inconspicuous to infamous.
I have actually been to Lizzie Borden’s house. It’s a bed and breakfast now. I stayed a night with my oldest kiddo, then 15, with myself in Lizzie’s room, and kiddo in Lizzie’s sister Emma’s room. Neither of us were brave enough to sleep in the murder room.
(Side note: we happened to be there when Buzzfeed Unsolved was filming their Lizzie Borden episode, so if you hear people tromping through the house in the background, that’s probably us!)
You may know the poem: Lizzie Borden took an ax / Gave her mother forty whacks / When she saw what she had done / She gave her father forty-one. Turns out almost none of that is actually true. So let’s take a look at what really happened.
Lizzie Borden was 32 years old when her father and stepmother were brutally murdered in their own home. On the morning of Aug 4, 1892, there were three people in the house: Lizzie, her stepmother Abby, and the maid, Bridget Sullivan. Bridget spent the morning outside, cleaning windows, while Lizzie was inside. Abby spent the morning getting murdered.
At some point, someone beat Abby with an axe until she died face-down on the floor of the upstairs guest bedroom (18 whacks, not 40). Later in the morning, Lizzie’s father Andrew came home and took a nap on the sofa in the front room. A short while afterward, Lizzie screamed, saying she’d found him beaten to death with an axe (11 whacks).
Here’s where it gets complicated, and why the case is still so famous. There are some very hard things to explain if Lizzie was not the murderer—and equally hard things to explain if she was. I’ll give you some of the run-down we got at the B&B.
Plus writing prompts! Such as:
Constant replay. A residual haunting is one where the ghosts aren’t really “present,” but reenact their terrible deaths over and over like a video on replay. A residual haunting might provide a way to solve a murder mystery, because the killer might be visible, carrying out the awful deed. What if a detective (psychic or otherwise) becomes obsessed with a residual haunting where they can almost but not quite identify the killer? Perhaps they can see a bloody figure with an ax, but never a clear view of the face. Where would their obsession lead them? What if they were willing to try anything, no matter how ill-advised, to make that haunting clearer?
