Planning Ahead
this is something i'm still working on, actually. keeping a visual log of everything i need to do has been really useful, but it's still a pretty new habit for me.
the issue is that i really, really hate taking the time to have those things be nice- because then i get unmotivated when the load gets heavy and i can't keep it that way. no cute advice, this is my planner for solely function.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SHORTHAND. i use shorthand for everything. a list of my favorites:
ESP - spanish, or FR - french (really works for any foreign language class)
ENG/ELA - english language arts
MT (math) - CALC (calculus) - PCLC (precalc) - STAT (statistics) - ALG (algebra) etc
GEO/HIS (geography or history)
SCI (science) - BIO (biology) - CHEM (chemistry) - FNS (forensics) - PHYS (physics)
GFX (graphic design) - DRM (drama) - HLC (healthcare) - BSN (business) etc... for whatever electives you have, lol
PJ (project)
HW (homework)
CFA/QZ (common formative assessment/quiz)
SD/SG (study/study guide)
PKT (packet)
SM (submit)
UG (ungraded)
SUM (summative)
FORM (formative)
PG _ (page _)
NSR/EC (not school related/extra curricular)
DNO (due night of)
DIC (due in class)
DEOC (due end of class)
i combine these for little nicknames like ESPPJ, MTPK, GFXPJ, etc. or DRM (info) NSR, GFXPKT EC
DESCRIPTION. i add a quick description of the item, just so i know what it is. usually just the actual assignment name or what it entails. if it's at home reading for english, it'll say "ENGHW Reading PG __-__". a drama script might say "DRM Script DEOC"
DATE. i always add the due date. i write it as a fraction so that it takes up a tiny bit less space. if i know, this is where the time it's due is added too.
URGENCY. i had another post about how i decide an assignment's urgency here, so i throw one of these numbers on the end.
DON'T CARE ABOUT CUTE! the point of this is to keep info. build the habit for a while, and once you have logging things as a habit, you can make it cute. but if you're already having trouble building the habit, adding more work will make it more difficult in my experience. always add onto your habits that already exist.
USE IT! i've also seen people have full planners that are so so cute and then just. never use them??? you're making this so that you have a way to keep track. making it, and then just throwing it in your bag to not be seen until tomorrow is defeating the point. use what you made.

I have a question for Tom... my apologies if it has been answered before. Are you allowed to blay with any women as her cuckold?
This question fails on so many levels. Both my bio and the pinned post at the top of the blog say right in the first line that I am "married and monogamous." Was that word too big for you? It means that we do not play with others. My husband is not a cuckold. Honestly, I would lose respect for him if he wanted me to have sex with other men. Yes, I know that half of our readers seem to be into that kind of thing, but neither of us have any interest in it, and I get really annoyed at the assumption that his being locked makes him a cuckold and me his slut wife or whatever you call it.
FLRs and woman domination do not automatically mean that the woman in the relationship gets to sleep around. Nor does it mean that the men in the relationship automatically approve or enjoy that kind of thing.
While we are a pretty traditional couple, and fairly equal in what we do, my husband is my emotional rock. It sounds corny but I can always depend on him to be the clear thinking one in a panic and the one family member who does not freak out in a crisis. If he wanted me to sleep with other men then I would absolutely question his love and devotion for me. And if I told him that I was going to sleep around and he went along with it then I would question his ability to be a planner and protector.
I'm sorry, I know that this is not what a lot of you want to hear. I don't know why these kinds of questions make me so upset, but they do. And look if this kind of thing works for you then great. But this is literally one of the very first things that I let you know about me and our relationship.

What do I post on social media?The number one question people ask when it comes to social media marketing.The interesting thing here is that there’s really an endless amount of ideas for you to use when it comes to posting on social media.Before you skip this and jump down to the list, here’s a few tips to get the most impact out of these ideas:1. Make it RELEVANT for your audience.For Example:If you choose to share something from your bucket list…Can you relate it back to your business?
Can you add in an open ended question so it sparks people to engage?2. Talk TO your audience, don’t talk AT them. This is social media. People are looking for stories and posts that they connect with. If you’re not wording posts socially, you close the door for engagement.For Example:DON’T DO THIS: I read a quote this morning, liked it, and wanted to share it with you.DO THIS: Have you ever read a quote and thought, “Wow, I really needed to hear that?” Well I found one this morning that was so perfect, I had to pass it on to you. It’s a difference in the way you talk with people. I promise, you’ll see a difference in how people respond when you word things just a little differently.3. EVERYTHING you post should ALWAYS support your weekly, monthly, annual marketing and business goals. Don’t just “post to post” – post with purpose. Post to connect.Post to learn more about your audience.Post to start a conversation.Post to get leads.Post to drive traffic.Post to build your business.The more you do this, the faster you reach your goals.RELATED:  FREE GUIDE: ULTIMATE GUIDE TO ONLINE AUTOMATED BUSINESS4. Use TASSI. It’s a social media management tool that gives you content. You will never run out of ideas, or content, since you can choose from thousands of ready made content just waiting for you to drop your logo on it and make it your own.As you know, when it comes to social media, content is king.But what exactly makes for great content?In general, the best content is interesting, informative, and entertaining.However, there’s no hard and fast rule for what works best. The key is to experiment and see what gets the most engagement from your audience.Also, don’t be afraid to mix things up from time to time.A little variety can go a long way in keeping people engaged.So if you’re looking for content ideas on what to post on social media, here are 70 content ideas to post on social media so you never run out of content again!70 Killer Content Ideas To Post On Social Media1. Never Been Normal
Tumblr media
Sirius Black x Reader
Summary: You talk over the details of your wedding with Sirius and learn shocking new information he forgot to tell you.
Warnings: NONE
Word Count: 1,057
A/N: I haven’t posted an actual story in forever, oops. I decided to write this instead of doing my bio homework cuz college sucks and I want to ignore having to do work as long as possible. I’ve had this idea for a while and have really wanted to write it so here it is. I hope I did it justice.
~~~
Resting your head on his chest you let the sound of his heartbeat calm you. Your fingers drew lazy patterns along his hardened chest. It wasn’t very often that you got to spend quiet nights at home with your fiance Sirius. You had been so busy recently with ironing out the details of the wedding that you barely had time together.
However, tonight he had convinced you to put the planner aside and just spend the night together without the stress of planning looming over you. At first you had been opposed to the idea, worried that you would fall behind schedule, but he had pulled you into his chest and suddenly all your worries had floated away.
“We should do this more often,” you mumbled as his fingers tangled in your hair.
“Darling, I’ve been asking to do this for days,” he chuckled.
The rumble in his chest caused you to lift your head. Locking eyes you give him a small smile as your fingers stop moving.
“I’m sorry I’ve been so distracted lately, I promise from now on I’ll make more time for us,” you promised.
His arm tightened around your body, pulling you closer to him, “Don’t apologize, I understand you want everything to go smoothly. Now let’s stop with all the wedding talk and just relax.”
You nodded your head before placing it back against his chest. Your arm had made its way around his waist and you laid there in each others arms. The silence felt welcoming after the long week you both had.
“I think James and Lily want us to visit for lunch tomorrow,” Sirius mentions with a gentle kiss to the top of your head.
“And your just telling me this now?”
“I tried to tell you earlier but you were busy. Besides it’s James, he just assumes we’re coming anyway and if we didn’t he’d come here to find us.”
This causes a laugh to escape your lips. Your friend’s spontaneous personality hadn’t wavered since your days at Hogwarts. He still had the same fiery spirit from his younger days, something that you respected.
“Well I guess I know what we will be doing tomorrow then,” you joke.
“Avoiding James to see if he can find us?” Your fiance asks.
“Ah yes, a giant game of hide and go seek with two large children.” You smirk as his eyes light up at the thought.
“Now you’re thinking love. That would be a wonderful way to spend a Saturday. I might need to ring James and Remus and tell them of our change of plans.”
You lightly slap his chest, “Don’t you dare, if Lily spends all day cooking for you lot to derail it with childish games she will kill you all, and I much prefer when you’re alive.”
“Fine but only cause I can’t have you replacing me.” The snort that escapes you has Sirius feigning shock.
“Do you think you can get rid of me that easily darling?” he asks as he rolls on top of you. Successfully pinning you under his much larger body.
“I know I can.” You give him a light shove and he dramatically rolls to the side. As he pretends to nurse his wounds you speak up, “but I won’t since I love you.”
He turns back to look at you. His hand comes up to cup your cheek as his lips connect with yours. Pulling away ever so slightly he whispers, “I love you too.” Then his lips are back on yours.
You spend the next few moments tangled in each others embrace before you pull back suddenly.
“What’s wrong?” he asks.
“I don’t know where I need to go to change my last name once we’re married. I know you said no wedding talk but I’ve just thought of it and I need to figure this out before the ceremony.”
“You don’t need to worry about it, there’s no need for you to change your last name.”
Your eyes widen before settling into a confused configuration. He looks back at you as if it is the most obvious thing in the world.
“Do you not want me to have your last name?” The words come out just barely above a whisper. All the worries now flooding back to you.
“No I don’t, I wanna take yours.” He clarifies while hugging you closer.
“Why?”
“My family disowned me for not agreeing with them and I learned the hard way they were never truly my family. My family is you and our friends who were there for me and who love me. My last name is the only thing that ties me to them. I want to get rid of it and them so I can finally move on from the past.”
“Sirius-” you whisper, tears welling in your eyes.
“I want you to be my family so I never have to remember those vile people. I want to create our own family together and the first step is to take your last name.”
“But what will people think?”
“It doesn’t matter what others think, Love. It only matters what we think and I think that we’ve never been a normal couple so this is perfect for us.” He punctuates his statement with a quick kiss causing you to smile.
“You’re right it doesn’t matter. I love you and would be honored to share my last name with you.” His smile only widens as you agree to his plan.
“I love you so much and I can’t wait to marry you.”
“Then let’s just do it. We will all be at James and Lily’s tomorrow let’s just do it then.” You bite your bottom lip worried he won’t want to rush it.
“That is the most brilliant idea I’ve ever heard,” he exclaims while jumping up to call James.
Sure you had stressed over planning this day for weeks now but none of that mattered as long as you got to marry your best friend. Knowing that the rest of your friends would still be there made your heart soar. You knew that planning wouldn’t have made the ceremony perfect but this spur of the moment plan would be as close to perfect as you could get. And that thought alone made you happier than you ever thought you could be.
~~~ Tip Jar <- Only if you want.

Intro Post !
Tumblr media
Hello everyone!! Don’t mind me as I like all your posts as I catch up on some xcellent reading material. I’m Paige, an Aquarius and it’s way too early for me to be fangirling this much about this beautiful RP but here I am anyways #anarchy. Under the cut’s the stuff I wrote about Ellie on my app so it’ll give y’all some fun, scattered info on her & her pretentious coffee order vibe. My #1 fave about the Romantics is that they’re all inter-connected fehufhu and I can’t wait to plot out all the rels with you guys. She may be petty, she be a lil uptight, she may love to repress her Feelings*TM* but Ellie has a heart big enough to love every one of your babes, promise.
Her task bio is coming up too!! I’m open to any and all connections (she has the #bff whomst she loves to talk shit w/ Ezra & her #1 frenemy Hana) for friends, lovers, someone she tutored whether they liked it or not, did she paint you like one of her french girls?, first kisses, prom dates *eye emojis* etc etc ... I’ll keep brainstorming but !! I’m so excited to be here<33
When I think about Eleanor, I image she never wears quite the same outfit twice and she draws inspiration from Old Hollywood but also Cher Horowitz. She curls and pins her hair as if it’s the 1940s and wears a shade of red lipstick that Peggy Carter would be proud of. Her shoes coordinate with her nail polish and she owns an abundance of old new things. Talking shit with Ezra and her frenemyship with Hana makes me think she can be really #petty but always with a smile and yet she’d still be so offended if you were to say anything too mean back. Like, how dare?
More On Ellie
Every time someone calls her ‘Ellie’, her heart honestly just flutters. She always loved the nickname because it felt like something special that those who loved her and knew her had adopted. To stop herself from missing them so much- her friends, The Romantics- she tried to leave it behind her, insist she didn’t like it when she aimed to recreate herself in a new city, but she does like it. She’s an Ellie at heart.
Has always loved to take charge and organize whenever possible. She was the obvious choice as the head of any committee, the worst one to get paired against on debate team and she was the most no-nonsense, pain in the butt, tutor ever. Highlighters, sticky notes and day planners are still her three favourite things and she can fill sheet after sheet with notes in perfect cursive. She has a practical mind and there isn’t anything that can’t be fixed by making a list.
Planned out her whole life from the moment she could hold a pen. There’s a 5, 10 and 15 year plan that she refuses to deviate from and if you ask her, yes everything is going exactly the way she wanted, thanks! But that’s not really true. She tells herself her job is a stepping stone but she’s still picking up green juice for her boss and being ignored by those she needs to impress. She tells herself that she’s happy and progressing and taking the safe, pre-planned course but some days she just wishes she could throw it all out and take a chance on one of her passion passions like painting or poetry.
Agreeing to this roadtrip was…a lot for her (the no shoes rule? Everyone better be in socks!). For one, she's not not brought her hands-free just in case there’s an emergency back at the office and for another, a bus? Really? Her actual funds (though she has been an avid saver) might not reflect her five star attitude but that won’t stop her from turning her nose up at it all. Who wants to share a room? Or drive everywhere? Where will all her shoes go? Still, the part of her that feels lost and trapped in current life (and all that wine, jeez) had her saying yes anyway.
Sometimes she feels so out of place in this time. She longs for something else that she can’t quite explain; it’s more, she knows that much. But she’s also horribly aware most nights that she’ll never be able to have everything she wants, or see everything there is, or paint in a colour that no one else has before and it makes her feel so small sometimes. It’s like she can see the immensity of it all in an ocean of never-ending possibility and outcomes and she suddenly can’t swim.
Looks like a cinnamon roll, will actually kill you.
Likes: pink, vinyl, tartan print, venti caramel lattes with one pump of syrup, froyo, being on time, lists, colour-coordination, cheap wine in expensive bottles, painting, art galleries, being right, judging other people for #petty shit and shit-talking, Instagram, jazz, Audrey Hepburn, black and white movies Dislikes: having to express her Feelings*TM*, chipped nail polish, anything tacky or cheesy, internet slang, instant coffee, being called out, feeling lonely, paint clumps, no hot water, mis-matched bedding, overthinking
I started a lowkey Pinboard for her here!

30 Inexpensive Ways to Promote Your Website
These days, anyone can build a stellar website. Fun fact: There are more than 1 billion websites around the world, with new ones created every second.
Among all that internet noise, your website and ideas deserve to stand out. And that means you’ve got to advertise! Fight to get your name and brand out there and then draw visitors to your site.
But what if you’re on a budget?
You’re in luck! Effectively promoting your new website can be done on the cheap. Experiment with these free and inexpensive website promotion ideas and watch the traffic roll in!
Promoting Your Website?
Make sure your website is fast, secure, and always up so your visitors trust you. DreamHost plans start at $2.59/mo.
Choose Your Plan
1. SEO Keywords
When you are looking for the answer to a question or solution to a problem, your first resource is probably Google. Google searches can be a powerful source of website traffic – if you play your cards right. When your potential customers search for something on Google, they aren’t likely to look down past the top two or three results. So your goal is to get keyword searches related to your website to show up near the top. That’s where search engine optimization ( or SEO strategy) comes in.
SEO is the science/art of increasing your website’s visibility in organic search engine results. You can do this by filling your pages with key phrases that people are likely to search for. SEO is a basic but essential method of bringing traffic to your website; without it, your website can get lost among the thousands of voices clamoring for your visitors’ attention.
You can improve your website’s search result rankings by doing things like creating and editing quality content to include key search phrases and increasing your linkbacks – the number of links your website gets from other sites. Backlinks are especially important to your Google rankings, as they demonstrate the popularity of your website.
Use Google AdWords keyword planner to find keywords related to your website and get stats on how often they are searched in your target market. Use this insider info to plan your content to draw in organic search engine traffic. Learn how to utilize this tool, and you may discover a few new keywords to power up your content.
While SEO can be cost-effective — if you do the work yourself, you won’t have to pay anything for it — optimizing your website for search engines is definitely not a quick fix. It can take time to master SEO methods and to optimize your website, and it can take some time to build links, optimize pages, and determine which keywords bring in new visitors. You might consider hiring or contracting with an SEO marketing expert if your budget permits or invest your time in learning the tricks yourself.

2. Pay Per Click
Pay-per-click (PCC) advertising is another method to make Google work for you — albeit one that takes a bit of cash. Basically, instead of leaving your website’s search engine rankings to chance, you’ll create an ad and pay a fixed price for every click your ad gets when it shows up on a Google search or website. Your goal is to convert clicks into customers, hopefully seeing a strong return on investment. Google AdWords has no specific spending requirement, so you can easily keep within your budget and focus on your ROI.
3. Email Marketing
Email marketing is a tried-and-true tool for communicating with your customers and finding and retaining new ones. It essentially involves collecting the email addresses of any and every potential customer and then sharing content — newsletters, promotions, discounts, and information — as a way of building relationships. Email marketing can draw past visitors back to your website by sharing new content or promotions. The best part about this tool? An amazing average ROI of $44 to every dollar spent.

4. Blogging
Integrate original, relevant blog content into your website. It’s a prime place to include SEO-optimized keywords and build a following of loyal readers who will come back for more. Include videos, photos, and graphics , and encourage readers to share posts they love.
Once you’ve mastered your own blog , look to others in your niche market. Search out blogs that accept guest blogging pitches. Peruse their posts, take a look at their submission guidelines, and polish up a pitch to send over. If your pitch is accepted, make sure to include a link to your website in your bio to send traffic your way.
Last but not least, leaving thoughtful and insightful comments on the blogs you follow, especially influential ones in your field, is a great way to get noticed by blog writers and their readers. Make sure you include a link to your website or share specific content related to the post you are commenting on.

5. Create Your Own Infographics
Infographics are clickable and shareable. They are great sources of backlinks to your site, and they are can be simple to make on websites like infogr.am and Canva. When designing infographics and incorporating them into your site, keep your entire audience in mind; make sure the graphics are accessible to all users.
6. Reciprocal Linking
The more sites that link to yours, the more important search engines will assume you to be — and the higher your website will rank in search results. Including a link to another site in exchange for them including a link to yours can build traffic and post search engine juice, particularly when done with reputable sites relevant to your business and content.

7. Retargeting
One of the greatest frustrations for small online businesses is seeing the majority of their traffic leave without making a purchase. Retargeting advertising uses cookies to create ads on other sites that will lure your website visitor back to your website. After you’ve put so much into getting people to your business website, it might be worth the extra buck to get them back.
8. Signature Branding
Create a fun, appealing, and recognizable signature for your email, blog posts, or even photos, videos, and shareable content. This is a great way to get people to recognize and understand your brand — and to draw their eyes to your URL.
9. Facebook Ads
The most effective advertising reaches people where they are most of the time. And for millions of Americans across all demographics, that place is their Facebook page. If you have a limited advertising budget for your website and are looking to generate a great ROI, a Facebook ad is a great bet. You can create a targeted ad that reaches users based on location, age, gender, interests, and even options like friends of current followers or people who like specific pages. Like Google AdWords, you can set a budget and either pay for clicks or pay when people see your ad.
Tumblr media
10. Facebook Pages and Groups
It doesn’t cost a cent to create social media accounts for your website or small business . Facebook groups and business pages will help you interact with your followers, build a community, and share your content. Put a little bit of green behind your posts to push them to the top of your follower’s feeds so you can make sure your voice is heard, and encourage sharing by offering competitions, discounts, or giveaways to any Facebook fan who shares your posts or tags a friend.
And don’t forget to look beyond Facebook: Other platforms will also help you connect and share. It isn’t necessary to have an account on every social media platform; stick with the ones popular with your audience, and don’t be afraid to experiment with newer forms of social media. Your social media presence should be something that’s always evolving.

11. Instagram Story
Tumblr media
Instagram stories appear continuously above users’ feeds. Create Instagram stories to engage your followers — make sure your branding is clear and your message succinct and memorable, as these posts are short and disappear after 24 hours — or use paid ads, which will appear alongside posts.

12. Pinterest
Tumblr media
Pinterest is the social network of things and ideas. If your website’s focus is artistic, crafty, style, or anything visual or DIY, you should have been on Pinterest yesterday. Create boards and fill them with pins to share your style, establish your expertise, and find your people – and promote your website’s content . If your audience gravitates to this platform, consider budgeting a little extra to promote your pins and build brand awareness.
13. LinkedIn
Tumblr media
Depending on your website’s purpose and brand, LinkedIn might be the perfect social tool to drive traffic. Leverage it by completing an interesting profile and creating connections. Follow influential people in your field and read what they share. Join (or create) relevant groups, and post content from your website’s blog (with links) often. Comment smartly on other posts regularly (any exposure for your name helps direct traffic to your website), and don’t be afraid to send your content to people individually.

14. Connect with Micro-Influencers
Maybe your business isn’t quite big enough for a celebrity endorsement. But how about a “mini-celebrity” in your field? Connect with micro-influencers — people on social media with a small circle of influence and high levels of engagement from their niche followers. Micro-influencers generally charge affordable fees for sponsored posts and may even choose to promote you for free if you send product samples.
15. Google My Business
Tumblr media
List your business for free with Google My Business, so when potential customers search local businesses or look on Google Maps, your business will show up, complete with hours, location, reviews, etc. Make sure your listing includes a link to your website. Bonus: registering with Google’s business directory can improve your search-result visibility.

16. Bing Places
Tumblr media
Google may be the big kid on the block, but, believe it or not, other search engines and directories exist, and people — maybe your potential customers — use them too. Don’t forget to list your business with Bing Places, another freebie website promotion tool.
17. Yellow Pages
Tumblr media
The phone book has moved online — and it offers free business listings. Listing with the Yellow Pages can be particularly helpful for location-focused small businesses, such as contractors, doctors, and restaurants.
18. Other Online Directories
Every link helps, right? The internet is filled with free online business directories. Once you’ve checked off the ones we’ve already mentioned, go to town with any others. But make sure to never pay for a basic listing — even Google, where you will likely get more exposure, offers directory space for free. These sites will get you started: Local.com, Simply Worthy, eLocal, Manta, Insider Pages, and Moo-Directory.
19. Submit to Search Engines
When you create your website or add new content, within a week or so, it will be found and indexed by major search engines and show up in search results. If you are anxious to be indexed sooner (or want to check and double-check that your site is found), you can manually submit URLs for free to Google, Bing, and Yahoo (Yahoo uses the same Search Engine as Bing. Great news, submission to Bing means submission to Yahoo).
If you want to submit to multiple search engines at the same time, including some of the lesser-used sites, a website like Submit Express will submit your website to dozens of search engines for free — and yes, Google is one of them. Here are a few more submission sites to check out: Entire Web, SubmitX, and So Much.

20. Webmaster Accounts
Set up webmaster accounts with both Google and Bing, ideally as soon as you set up your website. Doing so makes sure your site is indexed with them and will be included in their search results, and it will allow them to communicate with you about any problems or recommendations for your website. Also, there’s something satisfyingly ego-stroking about calling yourself a “webmaster.”
21. Yelp
Tumblr media
If you own a local restaurant, your website should be the cornerstone of your online presence — and Yelp will help your customers get there. While the site can be useful to any number of local businesses, it is the first choice of foodies on the go looking for good eats. Respond to reviews, post photos and menu options, offer discounts, and link to your website and blog.
22. Backlinks
Whenever another site, especially an established site, publishes a link to your website, it’s more likely that your site will be found by search engines. Links back to your site are called, appropriately, backlinks. Just one link back should be enough to ensure your site is found, but the more backlinks, the more prestigious search engines assume it to be — and the better your rankings. An easy way to get a backlink is to make a comment on a popular blog, ideally a respected one in your field. Most blogs will let you include a link to your own site with your comment.
23. Quora
Tumblr media
Like Yahoo Answers, Quora is a searchable online place for people with questions and people with answers to mingle. Follow, ask, and answer questions in your area of interest, and include the address of your blog in your profile and answer credentials. You can include links to your blog in answers you write, but do so with caution: Quora will block answers filled with links as spam, and blatant self-promotion will garner no respect (or upvotes).
24. Help a Reporter Out
Tumblr media
Press coverage of your business will help get your name out there and establish you as an expert in your field. Get media attention by registering with Help a Reporter Out, a free database that connects reporters from legitimate outlets to sources they can interview for their articles. It’s a win-win: The journalists get the scoop and you get press coverage — plus a chance to link to your site if the story is published online. After you register, you’ll receive source requests relevant to your industry three times per day and can then pitch your expertise to the reporter.
Related: How to Create a Content Marketing Strategy
25. YouTube
Tumblr media
Creating videos and uploading them to YouTube can spread your content (and links to your website) around YouTube itself — and from there, Google will index and make searchable your content. You can embed it in your blog and share on your social media accounts, and so can other users. Don’t stress about the pressure to go viral; while an admirable goal, a video doesn’t need two million views to be effective.
Make sure the description links to your website, and include a call to action in the video — ideally one that takes viewers to your website. YouTube videos can also help you generate a bit of cash. Additionally, if you’re already making videos, consider creating ads to run with others’ videos for a potentially satisfying ROI.

26. Reddit
Tumblr media
Reddit is probably the king of social bookmarking. The self-styled “front page of the internet,” Reddit allows users to submit stories, images, videos, etc., from across the internet, and other users can either upvote or downvote these submissions.
While the site is a great driver of internet traffic, the Reddit community generally frowns upon users who only share their own content. Become an active user and regularly share and interact with other posts, along with posting your own content. Be warned: Redditors are a tough crowd so don’t be discouraged if your posts flop or garner a negative comment to two.
27. Digg
Tumblr media
Another social bookmarking site, Digg helps users find blog posts and other content, as well as share and promote stories they like. Similar to Reddit, users submit web pages by entering the URL and a short description; each submission can be discovered by other viewers who will upvote or “digg” interesting content.
Digg can be a little bit tricky as it is dominated by a handful of influential users who control which stories make it to the homepage and which get lost in the crowd. If your story makes it, it can drive a huge amount of traffic. As with Reddit, it’s essential to become active on the network and avoid digging and submitting only your own stuff.
28. Product Hunt
Tumblr media
Product Hunt is the Skymall of new apps, websites, games, and devices — a haven for techies in search of the next big thing. Being discovered on Product Hunt can be a huge win for your business. Before submitting your product, make sure it qualifies.
29. Medium
Tumblr media
While platforms like Instagram are great for photographers and fashion stylists, Medium is the platform for readers. Anyone can write and publish a story or blog post on Medium, and other users find, comment, applaud, and interact with articles and authors. Even if you have your own blog, networking and publishing on Medium (post unique content, not rehashes of posts from your blog) to increase visibility for your business and attract more traffic to your site.
30. Use Expert Sources
To give your content an authoritative boost, contact and interview experts in your field. Your own list of five ways to bug-proof your garden may draw clicks, but up that to ten tips from a long-time organic farmer, and you’ve got a shareable post that lends credibility to your entire site. If your sources include well-known names that boast a sizable following of their own, you may draw their fans to your site. Let your sources know when you publish, and you may get a digital shoutout.

CHARACTERS I WANT TO USE/USE MORE!
So, with summer coming up and my draft slooooowly going down from 40 till 30 I figured I could put together a list of characters from my muse list I want to use more! To ease it up for you I’ll also add some connections and plots I already have in mind, and all that I ask is that you read through their bio before reaching out to me for said connection/plot because I’m not about to explain the obvious already there. Anyway!!
FELIX BOYD, Tyler Hoechlin, 27-29, High School counselor
Connections: family (siblings, exes to his siblings, in-laws, cousins), school personnel and other counselors, close friends, a best friend, someone HE rants to??, although his bio says SCHOOL counselor his bio mentions possible ideas of reaching further and thus older him will be able to counsel adults/young adults as well
DEXTER CORMACK, Donald Glover, 25-27, botany assistant/florist
Connections: other florists, his younger half sibling, cousins, close friends, best friend (especially another TRANS person pls and thank you), romance, exes (maybe from before the transistion?), just quick flings
JONAH SEVILLA-DAVIS, Michael Trevino, 28-30, electrician
Connections: family (his mother is still alive, could be having more siblings from her side unknowlingly), exes from before his relationship with Trisha, close friends, best friend (will have to be deeply plotted if bf is female), other people stuck in similar situations he finds and connect with
FREDRICK OWENS, Ian Harding, 26-30, wedding planner
Connections: family (always family!!!), clients, exes, current relationship, friends (close or bf), enemies/rivals
ROBIN STENMARK, Garrett Hedlund, 26-30, blogger/travel journalist
Connections: siblings are taken, but much like Jonah his biological parents are still around and they could have had another child down the road, FANS, HIS EX HE STARTED HIS BLOG WITH (i have a whole backstory for these two and i want to explore it so badly. but the ex is a jackass so if you want to hear more keep this in mind), people he meet up with during his trips, old friends back home in sweden, current relationships, rivals
WINSTON FAUX, Hugh Dancy, 500+ years, veterinarian/smuggler/con artist
Connections: the middle Faux sibling, the mother since she only looks to be about 35+, other con artists and smugglers they have connections to, other supermatural beings the family has pissed off throughout their years alive, on off exes with lingering feelings, a cop/detective thats been tracking the family for some time but dont have enough evidence to pin point them
I am open to other ideas, not just these, and if something sound of interest please reach out directly through IM or place a comment on this post since I can never be too sure if people liking posts are bots, by accident or if something is genuine.

10 Ways to Improve Your Social Media Profiles in One Hour or Less
What? Improve all my social media profiles—in one hour. Really?
Yup.
I get it—you’re busy. Or maybe lazy (no judgement).
Either way, you’ve got posts to review, schedule, and publish. Campaigns to declare, launch, and manage. Emails to write and respond to. Countless deadlines for this and that.
And… a boss to please so they’ll feel at ease because ‘you got this’. So your brand shows up just right, for all your social media profiles.
This guide is for you.
Each tip should take only a few minutes. All together, about an hour. Schedule it for this week. You can do that, right?
Clock’s a ticking… what are we waiting for?
Bonus: Get the step-by-step social media strategy guide with pro tips on how to grow your social media presence.
1. Make sure you’re using the right size images
So your brand face will look professional and beautiful—no matter where you show up.
Optimize your profile images on each network. Often, this only takes a quick crop, which you can do in minutes.
Think about, too… where else these images might show up.
For instance…
How will it look expanded? Or small, when showing up in people’s streams? How will it look on mobile compared to desktop?
Each social network states the optimal images sizes. Because they know all thy ways they’ll be seen. Trust them.
This guide tells all. But I’ll summarize a few since you’re on the clock.
Facebook profile picture: 170 X 170 pixels
Facebook cover photo: 828 X 465 pixels
Twitter profile photo: 400 X 400 pixels
Twitter header image: 1,500 X 500 pixels
Google+ profile picture: 250 X 250 pixels (minimum)
Google+ cover photo: 1080 X 608 pixels
LinkedIn profile photo: 400 X 400 pixels (minimum)
LinkedIn custom background: 1584 X 396
LinkedIn cover photo: 974 X 330 pixels
LinkedIn banner image: 646 X 220 pixels
Instagram profile picture: 110 X 110 pixels
Pinterest profile picture: 150 X 150 pixels
YouTube profile picture: 800 X 800 pixels
YouTube cover photo: 2,560 X 1,440 pixels on desktop
2. Use the same profile image on every network
Your brand logo or image should be consistent across all networks.
The more you appear the same in feeds across social networks, the more likely you’ll get and stay top-of-mind. People will think of you before your competitor when they need your product or service.
But if you use different photos and logos you’ll dilute your brand’s visual identity (and recognizability).
3. Make sure your handles are consistent, too
For photos, appearing consistently increases brand recognition.
Same for handles. Also… it makes it easier for others to search and find you.
Want to increases the chances for people mentioning your brand? And, help them find and follow you?
Then make it obvious when they type the ‘@’ sign.
With a simple handle, as close to your personal or brand name as possible.
Just about every social media platform drops down a list in place to help you be clicked.
Now how will you appear in such a list with a mishmash of name, city, area, and any other secret codes. That might work for 007, but you’re not in the spy game, you’re in the buy game.
4. Untag yourself from bad photos and inappropriate posts
Tags are great for talking with more fans. If used right.
But if you’re tagging inappropriate photos or posts, you’ll look like an amateur, instead of a pro. You might face legal woes too.
So… two approaches to make sure you’re using tags best.
Check your photo tag settings
Make sure your settings align with your social media policy.
For your networks you can do some of the following:
See where you’ve been tagged
See who can see your tagged photos and posts
Approve photos you’ve been tagged in before they appear
Remove tags from unwanted photos and posts
Restrict who can tag you in photos
Check each network for what’s available for your strategy.
Review tags regularly
Create a routine to check and review the posts you’re tagged in. Then untag yourself from any bad photos or inappropriate posts.
You might ask.. why not just shut down tagging?
Because:
It’s like hearing your name called out from the crowd
Tags elicit a response from others
You can jump into pertinent conversations
You’ll show up in more places
Tags exist for those reasons, so don’t cut yourself or brand off from being seen more.
5. Be discoverable in a search
Use the right keywords in your profile to be discovered for your business, industry, or niche.
When people do web searches, you want your brand logo to show up above the fold.
It’s easy (and fast) to add the right words to your social profile.
Here’s a couple ways:
Identify the right keywords
Find out what people search for most when looking for professionals in your space. Keyword tools like SEMrush and Google Keyword Planner will help identify the right words and terms.
Use those keywords
Update your social media profiles with the words and phrases identified above.
For: LinkedIn job title, description, experience, and skills sections. Do the same kind of thing for all your social accounts. In your bio, for photos, interests and more.
Don’t just stuff a list of keywords into these sections.
Work them in naturally, like how you talk. The search engine gods will reward and rank you higher. So you’ll show up, not down, the results page.
6. Fill in every field
While you’re adding keywords to your profile, make sure all the fields are filled in.
Why?
So readers won’t perceive you as unprofessional and lazy.
And don’t write gibberish. Write succinct and clear sentences, explaining…
What you or your brand does
What people who follow you can expect to see
Maybe even a clear call-to-action for what they should do next (but that’s outside this hour of power)
Make your words engaging, too, not boring. Here’s some tips I wrote for you.
Also, check this over time. Social networks remove, add, and update fields.
7. Cross promote
There’s probably a field ‘Website” for your social profile.
Most people enter in their website. Makes sense, right?
But you can do better. Use this field to link to your other social profiles—as another form of cross promotion.
Facebook allows you to add multiple website fields
LinkedIn allows you to add your Twitter account
Pinterest allows you to connect to Facebook and Twitter
For the social networks that give you only a single “website” field, mix it up. State a current landing or promo page. Or a new downloadable guide. Update and change it around over time.
8. Test your links
Hey, while you’re in there updating your links—make sure they work, too.
Typos happen. It takes just a sec or two to test them. Otherwise, you’ll confuse users and look lame. And worse, not get those cross promotion benefits.
Test every link on every profile.
That’s it. Next…
9. Build social trust
How? By asking friendlies for reviews, endorsements, and recommendations.
This includes friends, family, past and current clients.
It shows others you’ve succeeded. Readers trust that more than an ad.
You won’t get all these up on your profiles in an hour. This is about asking.
Here’s a few ways.
Use LinkedIn’s endorsements section. People can click to endorse your skills.
Even more powerful are LinkedIn recommendations. When you do ask for these (and you should) make it easier for them.
“Hey Joe, it was great working together on our last project. Think you could write a recommendation for my part? If so, here’s a few questions to make it easy for you.”
What talents, abilities, & characteristics describe me?
What successes did we experienced together?
What I’m good at?
What can be counted on?
Are there any other distinguishing features you think I possess?
What was my impact on you?
What was my impact on the company?
How did I change what you do?
What’s one thing you get with me that you can’t get anywhere else?
What are five words that describe me?
Pro tip: Give love, too. Use those questions to write a recommendation for someone, without them even asking.
For Facebook pages, use their visitor post section. So people can highlight the good work you’ve done.
For Twitter, pin positive tweets to the top of your stream. This allows you to control what visitors see when they first arrive.
There’s plenty of goodness you can create for you and your brand in a few minutes.
10. Pin your best content to the top of your profile
More about pins.
Unlike other posts, pinned one’s stay put. They are the first things people see when looking you up. Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn support pinning.
This is your chance to showcase your best work. Choose wisely. Maybe a key message, a new landing page, a hot offer, or a cool video? Make the most of pinning.
How did that go?
Did you get all those done in an hour?
But I know it was still worth your time. Feels good, right, to have all your social profiles tidy and optimized for your business. I bet your boss will dig it, too.

Know how some days you just don’t want to people? Peopling is a verb, you see. As in:
Peopling is hard.
I don’t want to people today.
I’ve reached my peopling quotient for the day.
I’m pretty sure that’s how my cats go through life, once their humans have fed, watered, and pet them.
Online Peopling
Like the other day, when I shared some tips on how to make blogging easier and someone told me I was being ‘ableist’ because my tips didn’t take into account their personal inability to market books due to pain (which granted, totally sucks). I feel bad for them and shared that I have chronic pain issues also and don’t give as much attention to this blog as I want to.
Or when I explained what exactly #MondayBlogs is all about and a lady told me that by not sharing her repeated quotes about the wonders of Trump, I’m discriminating against her (never mind that the hashtag is for blog posts, not quotes — lady, it’s right there IN the hashtag — and as I spell out right on the @MondayBlogs bio, pinned tweet, blog post right in the bio, various visuals, and throughout the day each week).
Or when a darling survivor friend of mine finally shared in a post that she is a survivor and some guy trashes her immediately about one aspect of the piece he disagreed with. In fact, she was ready to pull the piece, even though it’s beautiful, honest, and wonderfully insightful, all because his #NotAllMen ego doesn’t like her perspective. (A bunch of us talked her out of that, thank goodness.)
The good news about peopling online is that you can shut off all that mental noise and walk away, open up a program and write a blog post about how annoying people are.
We like being able to turn off interactions and it’s healthy to do so. You can calm down, breathe, remove yourself from that virtual world and get back to your real one.
But what about those people who can’t? Who stay on and argue online for hours and hours? Who can’t differentiate their online world from their real one? Who believe their online world IS their real world? What if the only company people have is online (a real issue for many people)?
An interesting study shows how our brains react differently to real-life interactions versus online interactions. While we may think we are emotionally invested in these online connections, the areas in our brain that control emotion show otherwise.
“Interaction with human partners requires more emotional involvement, and thus more cognitive effort, than interacting with a computer. (Rilling, Sanfey, Aronson, Nystrom, & Cohen, 2004‏). The study also shows a difference in activation strength between our reactions to human beings and computers. This is because when we interact with another human being, we cannot control our emotional involvement invested in the interaction process. The activation of specific brain areas is automatic once our mental radar detects another person.” (Source: Psychology Today 2014)
What’s Missing When Peopling Online
This begs the question my friend asked and what many of us experience with online interactions that go south: why are people often so mean online?
Pretty basic: non-verbal communication.
When we interact in real life, our brains interpret non-verbal clues (unless one is autistic). For example, if the #NotAllMen dude saw my friend’s distress in response to his brutally mean commentary, how would he feel? Would he have been as likely to say those things to her face? No way. Perhaps he would have asked her about her motivations, experiences, and why she felt the way she did (totally hypothetical and idealistic on my part), opening a dialogue to understanding.
Without those non-verbal clues, online communication fails to meet these emotional needs and is ripe to become tit for tat, back and forth, and mean-spirited. People can become whoever they want to be, projecting an image (often toxic).
“Hence, it is easier to hide our emotions behind an email, a Facebook post or a tweet. These platforms help people project any image they want; they can be whoever and whatever they want to be. Without the ability to receive nonverbal cues, their audiences are none the wiser.”
The emotions we feel during these interactions feel quite real, and can negatively affect our mental health, self-esteem, and overall well-being.
The other phenomenon that takes place online which freaks us out is the lack of control.
Humans have a need for control – this is built into our evolutionary psyche. We need to know what’s going to happen next. We’re planners. Online communications provides constant surprises – we have no idea what someone we are communicating with is going to say, when they’re going to say it, or how they’re going to say it (if at all).
Plus, the communication is unsynchronized (people respond whenever they want), whereas real-life comms are synchronized (you speak, then I speak, etc). There’s a flow.
Positive Online Peopling
Not all communications online are negative, clearly. I’ve met some of my best friends in real life online. I even met my guy that way!
Online groups and chats are incredible ways to form meaningful, helpful relationships that can benefit all kinds of folks. As a writer and businessperson, I can attest to this – social media is a crucial part of any author’s platform. Support groups are often the only thing keeping many people alive and can be incredibly validating, particularly for survivors.
Virtual comms can be a relationship surrogate for many people, full of satisfaction and enjoyment and for some, that may be enough.
I’ll share a little story with you: at one point, back before I published my Broken books, a writing mentor suggested I join her online critique group, so of course, I jumped at the chance! I greatly admired her and figured this would improve my craft. After a few sessions, however, I felt so defeated by her feedback and also critical attacks by other members of her group, I not only quit, I fell into a deep depression.
Was my writing that bad? Would nobody read it, as she said? Was I really “not ready for publication?”
After wallowing in their hurtful comments for a few weeks, I sent my manuscript off to my former screenwriting brother-in-law who gave it to a screenwriter friend who had done some script-doctoring for Spielberg. Yea, I know. She read through Broken Pieces and emailed me, “Honey, this is the real deal. You even made me cry and I never fucking cry. Publish it.”
Which I did.
Peopling Is What You Make It
As I always say with social media, blogging, and any other online media, it’s what you make it. To grow your social, you must interact and build relationships. However, you don’t need to engage with trolls or negative people unless you feel it’s somehow helpful or necessary to your well-being.
Ask yourself this question before you begin to madly respond to someone:
Is talking with this person good for you? If the answer is yes, do it. If the answer is no, don’t. Simple.
Besides, how else could you be spending that time?
Part of my own personal growth is to choose a yearly watchword (or focus word, as some people call it). This year my word is Power. The power to enforce my boundaries is a big one for me. Do I need to respond to people simply because they engage me online? I do not. I’ll be writing my next post all about how to go about using your watchword.
For now, what I want to express to you is that while peopling can be hard for some of us online, we wouldn’t have social media without each other. Make it work for you. And if it isn’t working, take a break. Take a break anyway – we spend too much time online, don’t we?
Be the people you are. Be you, wonderful, messy, you. Write, read, kiss your lover, play with your kids, get crafty, sing, dance, cook (well, not me because you know, I burn everything), pet your cats, dogs or stroke a furry wall, watch a movie, sleep (oh, how I love to sleep), exercise…be the you that you want to see in the world.
Non-verbal that shit.

What Exactly is a “Brand”?
What is a Brand?
Think of your brand as the personality of your event planning business. What does your business offer engaged couples that no other event business can?
Your brand should speak directly to your target client, making you the only choice for them.
You can buy a cup of coffee for a dollar or less at a convenience store. Why do so many people spend 3-5 times that much at Starbucks? Branding.
How Do I Figure Out My Brand?
To create a brand for your event business, don’t start with the logo. Instead, start by brainstorming what’s unique about what you do. Create a description of your business’ personality that shows why a potential client will choose you over other planners.
What is the message that you immediately want potential clients to know about your planning company?
Once you know what your business is about, you’ll have an effective starting point for making sure your services, logo, website, marketing materials, social media posts, and advertising all fit with your brand identity (personality).
How Do I Use My Brand?
Once you determine your brand identity, it’s important to keep everything cohesive and consistent with your brand. Don’t use one font for your business name on your website, another on your blog, and yet another font on your business cards. Choose a set of fonts, colors, and graphics to be used on all of your marketing materials, and make sure your design choices reflect your brand’s personality.
If you don’t have the budget to do a full rebrand, consider ways you can revitalize your current brand such as updating your portfolio on your website, carefully reviewing your website copy, and updating your headshots for your About page.
A distinct brand makes it hard for anyone to compete with you. When your brand is on target and attracting your ideal clients, leads and bookings will come more easily than if your business has a generic feel and no distinct style or personality.
What steps can you take today to make your business brand stand out?
The truth about owning a wedding planning business is that there are a million things that you are responsible for in addition to planning and designing events.
From setting the annual business budget and decluttering your workspace to updating social media bios and filing your annual report, the Ultimate Business Success Checklist for Wedding Planners empowers planners to grow a successful and sustainable business by providing the tasks necessary to help your business thrive instead of just survive.
