Inde watches “The Panamanian Monkeys Job”
Leverage Redemption 1x02
Still not sure how I feel about Harry because he’s literally the type of guy they would take down but also I see that he’s very good at being a distraction and grifting in the lobby
Hardisons excitement over the information just being in the brochure I love him
“You know there was a day where I’d have to beat the location out of this place out of some Russian mafia guy”Eliot. You’re so dramatic. I love you
Parker walking Sophie through the let’s go steal phrase and then her excitement over $20 million and then Eliot’s little smile Ahhh I love them
Do love that we get to see Sophie grieving still instead of just jumping right back in everything acting like it’s the same
Also, Breanna, what entrance I love it
Do not like the implication that Breanna does not know Eliot though only Parker but loving the instant bonding between them making fun of Hardison
Well now I wanna know what happened in Paris with the robot and Eliot’s feelings
Love Eliot continuing to mess with Harry
“Nothings impossible” “it’s impossible tickle yourself.” “That’s a good point” I love them.
“We’re the drill team” oh my gosh, I love her excitement
NOT THAT I’M THE MANAGER CHAIR SPIN BREANNA I love you
Harry’s “I’m the one in the car with them” Is giving Eliot’s “ive been carrying these around in my pants” (the beantown bailout job)
The way Sophie looks so over it escorting the DJ from the plane
Hardison’s really bro and Elliot telling him to shut up and keep going when he gets hit. I love them.
Elliot absolute hating the vents is amazing
Breanna, baby, you can never let anyone down
Parker looking actually heartbroken when Eliot says he hates the vents
I love Eliot’s “Don’t bring me into this.”They’re married your honor.
Love the parallels of Hardison walking them through that while Eliot’s fighting and Parker stealing like yes I’ve missed this trio
The “you didn’t stretch did you” and them kookily running from the guards I love it
Eliot supporting Hardison leaving and Parker looking at him and then Eliot looking to Hardison like ahhh
Parker’s tears I can’t
“But I'm not a parent.” “I know about a dozen crews around the world that would happily disagree.” STOP I CANT I LOVE THEM
Eliot’s head shake when he said FBI windbreakers he just thinks about all the ones hardest and made on the weekends

Oh god I’m going to spend all the New Orleans scenes going, “Wait that looks familiar do I know this building???”
“Cmon Sophie, say it. You know you have to.”
“Let’s go steal a stolen Rembrandt.”
“That’s my girl!”

No but I just realized what Harry says about Sophie seeming happier when she's "got someone on the string" is, like, INCREDIBLY similar to Eliot telling Nate "guy like you can't be out of the game"
And for both of them they're working through their grief over losing someone they care about by committing crimes for a cause

Leverage Redemption Log: The Panamanian Monkey Job
Look i know we're going to Panama because of last episodes ending tease/it being a 2 parter. But can we just agree that sometimes the writers just pull words out of a hat and call it a title? --- Seriously that Location Establishment Font is horrible. The point of an establishing shot is to show the place we're at and that is the opposite of what your font is doing. --- Harry named-for-a-volleyball is returning to his old place of work to be a suitable distraction to let Leverage Inc slip by to steal his old client-list or something. (i think that the team is still "inc"and the big alliance of other teams working with/beneath them is International? feel free to correct me)
obligatory "evil lawyer joke" and we're scarcely a minute in. Parker making Neigh-noises as she removes the horse painting. 10/10. (Lola also gets a 10/10, it would be cool)
Oh the tax-evasion supervault has a brochure, how quaint. ominous mini-spydrone. (It's either introducing Hardisons understudy cause actor is busy, or actually spying? Im betting on its a fake-out) --- Ok the Panama City Courthouse is a phrase with words long enough that it forces the letters to get vertically smaller and make space between the words so we can actually us see between the letters. Which is a mercy, but unless we're about to spend half a season in LLanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch I do expect this font-styling to be a persistent nuisance. (apologies to the Welsh if there's a typo in there.) --- "blackouts, memory loss, deja vu" saw that punchline coming but its a classic.
just walk into the money laundering operation and start burning things. Simple and effective. Sophie seems to think she's getting too old for this, (think she might switch from frontline grifter to a more Nate-like organiser, carry on her husbands legacy sort of thing)
Elliot hears the drone.
Hardisons sister (read replacement) has a really dead stare...
"I teach every kid i meet how to do crime" That you do,
"one of us gets cover blown, they just kill us. But Harry, he reads like a fed. They'd torture him first. Gives us time to save him." You're not wrong Elliot, but you shouldnt say it. --- "I did not go through the trouble of making the only place in the world where its legal to store illegal property for you to cut corners". Time for a security exposition dump Basement has only 1 way in (elevator, or so he claims Parker is a Vent Enthuisiast) On site and off-site camera monitoring facilities (other in the Philipines) (could be a simple footage loop?) No drilling (seismic sensors, easy to trip=Boy Who Cried Wolf protocol. IE: Sheherezade Job.)
7/10 on the Tickle Yourself gag. Reduced to 4/10by the "dribble a football" (you can dribble a football, Handeggs are a bit tougher though) EDM festival next-door is a go-go. The monkey is the name and logo of a fake animal protection group that is faking outrage about a non-existent DJ playing a non-existent birthday party so they can be shamed by Sophie into playing at a non-existent benefit concert for an existent monkey. --- Creepy goons want to interogate Partyplanner Hackergirl whose name i have already forgotten (im bad at names allright,)
We're not busted, he's just asking why there is a sudden EDM rave nextdoor to his legal "illegal-things" storage. (understandable, bad form of the rest of the team to leave the newbie alone)
Turns out that Warcrimes George is a fan of "legally-not-Deadmouse". (why were we in Tokyo? Oh right *mimes headshot* great show) I have never liked an antagonist who was not meant to be sympathetic to this degree before. Ok so Deadmouse better show up or he's gonna face-shoot her.
--- Opioidrefugee is meeting in the park, guard negotiates him up to 8 million
Huh, the vault operator actually has an apparently semi-decent arguement for his own morality. (giving the tyrants a way to exit the stage into retirement means they have the option of peacefull retirement, and if even 1% of tyrants takes it, thats thousands of civilians not dying in civil wars as they cling to power.) like he's not a good person certainly, but you can argue a moral grey-ness in his business-operations there.
--- Harry sees Maxwell as he leaves... Hardison drills the roof, Breanna mans the phone. Elliot is in the vents (cause the elevator is broken)
Invisible lasers (thank god they're invisible for once) cause a throuple-fight with Hardison and Elliot.
turn of the lock turns the lasers off, and now Maxwell is pointing a gun at Parker.
--- neck-slap unconcious, Maxwell is in the vault... which is laced with explosives we're about to blow up. (making it seem like he blew up a vault full of every dictator and crooks secret stashes. Might be the evilest frame-up this show's ever done) "three of them have armies, one of them has Nukes" Well he's certainly right, that does sound like a "run for the rest of your lives" situation.
Hardison bought the theatre. Tearfull goodbye is imminent. Hardison claims that at least a dozen crews consider Parker a mom.
Sophie is officially out of retirement.

If anyone has any good screen shots of parker's outfit (more specifically, the black and yellow skirt) at the end of the Panamanian monkey job I would greatly appreciate it if you could share those with me!

Okay Leverage fandom, help me out here. Is there a general consensus on Breanna's age in Redemption??
Cause I have my own theories, like how I think she's younger than Aleyse Shannon (her actress). And sure nothing explicit is stated in canon but there are some details that make me wonder if Breanna is meant to be the same age as Aleyse?
Thoughts? Opinions?? Please share them!!
Here's my supporting evidence for why I think Breanna is younger than Aleyse:
She is canonically treated as young, inexperienced, and needing guidance. (Sure, she's great at what she does, but Hardison still has binders of info for her to go through, plus he drags her away on some coding camp or something. Breanna is still learning and growing into her role in the team.)
At the end of The Panamanian Monkey Job, Harry brings over 5 glasses of liquor even though there's 6 of them in the scene. Breanna grabs the last glass, leaving Eliot empty-handed. Eliot then takes the glass off Breanna, with a scolding expression, like she shouldn't be drinking it because she's too young. Breanna looks chastened and doesn't even protest.
The way Breanna's treated in regards to college and studying and exploring her full potential etc makes it feel like she's meant to be college-age, so closer to 19, 20.
Hardison was canonically 21 in S1 of Leverage. Breanna feels younger than him to me in comparison.
Now to play devil's advocate against myself, here's evidence for why she could be closer to Aleyse's age:
At the end of The Rollin' On The River Job, Breanna says her first memory is of 9/11. In 2001, Aleyse was 5 years old. This is a very reasonable age for a first memory, therefore Breanna could easily have been about the same age. (I have memories from younger than 5, so I'd argue that Breanna could be younger with this as her first memory, but not by much.)
I can't find a clear timeline for Redemption online, so let's just say that Redemption is set in the year of its release, 2021. That would make Aleyse 25 (which to me feels too old for Breanna based on how they treat her).
I can't think of any exact episodes right now, but I feel like there are episodes of Redemption where we see Breanna drinking alcohol.
My main theory is that Breanna is 20 at the start of Redemption S1 and she's 21 by S2. This doesn't mesh with her first memory being 9/11, since she'd be a baby in 2001, but it's my headcanon.
So! To wrap up this longer-than-it-needs-to-be post, let's all vote on it!

kinda soft for how at the end of the panamanian monkeys job hardison goes up to harry and says "i need you to help me with something, man" and harry--two episodes into knowing these people, who have not been shy of their opinion of him (at this point, sort of affectionately disdainful?? this isn't a criticism i'm just pointing out they've literally talked about bonking him on the head, wiping his accounts/credit score/whatever, and dumping him in venezuela in front of him lol) and his immediate response--all soft, too--is a completely earnest and sincere "anything, anytime". like. a) i love harry and hardison's interactions SO so so much. i think they're probably my two favorite leverage characters and i also just love every interaction they have, even though it's not a lot. b) harry is SO ride or die SO fast. and like i get it, in many ways--especially in his eyes--they saved him. but like also. he's so funny. he got adopted/stolen by a group of thieves and he rolls with everything SO fast. he's just like yeah okay this happening now! yay! :) dflkjgglkhjh

okay but the parallel between hardison using eliot as an example of redemption to harry in the panamanian monkey job and eliot saying he could never be redeemed (and he’s made peace with that) to sophie in the finale

Treehouse Living
Our first week in Costa Rica has been spent living in a treehouse type of accommodation. And yes, it was on purpose! We are on the southeastern coast, (close to the Panamanian border), on the Caribbean. So far, there are no big resorts, and there still remains a laid back vibe. This area is home to the howler monkey, the whiteface monkey, lots of lizards, (including iguanas), and sloths. Although we have yet to see a sloth, we have seen, (and heard), lots of monkeys. Every morning, around 5am, we are awakened by these little monkeys with BIG voices! The first photo was taken this morning from my bed, the other two are from yesterday on our porch. Yes, they’re THAT close!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, they’re not terribly large, yet their howl, (more like a roar), can be heard up to 5kms away! They would make excellent PE teachers, lol! We are constantly entertained by them, watching them move from branch to branch, carrying their babies on their backs, and even howling. They live in the treetops, so you would rarely encounter one on the jungle floor. In another post, I’ll put up a video of the howling, but don’t expect to see anything but jungle…really it’s the audio that’s amazing.
On one of our beach walks, in Cahuita National Park, we came across some white faced monkeys. They’re much quieter, but perhaps also a bit more used to humans than our howlers here at the treehouse.
Tumblr media
Our treehouse has been an amazing stay, although while it’s luxurious for a treehouse, it’s not a 5 star place, so if that’s what you need, this isn’t the place for you. However, for me, it’s been just right. We have our queen size bed, a bathroom with a shower, and a bit to spartan a kitchen, meaning that all we really can cook here is breakfast, and a ceiling fan that does the job of allowing us to enjoy a good night’s sleep.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lastly, here are a few beach shots. This area is known for surfing, so it’s been a bit challenging to find swim spots, but we found a few!

You can find out lots more about the howler monkeys by going to the website above and searching for howler monkeys, Costa Rica.

I've decided I'm not allowed to get impatient with myself over the fic I'm writing. The fact that it's slow and tough to write is a feature, not a bug, because it's basically a chew toy I threw at my brain to keep it occupied until I can work on my novel again.
It's also a writing exercise that's going to expand my skills in certain directions, as most things I write these days turn out to be in the end. There are certain ways I relate to the characters because of course there are, but they are also very different from me in some key ways I haven't fully grappled with before.
I'm enjoying the research heavy nature of the story. Yesterday I had to go back and watch the beginning of the Panamanian monkey job for timeline purposes and I forgot how much I genuinely like that episode because I haven't set any fic actually during the episode. I also did some medical research for plot reasons. Today at work I decided what my new OC does for a living and tonight I will probably research that!
