Your alarm startles you from a heavy slumber. All those carbs have your stomach roaring. Magni too. You can hear his rumbling snoring coming from his bedroom. You sit up and try to shake off the cobwebs. Ugh, you should know better by now that you should have that brownie cake.
You roll your shoulders as a crick tweaks in your neck. You groan and look down at yourself. Oh yeah. You stand, sifting through consciousness as it slowly blooms, eyes squinting as your head remains foggy. You pull of the borrowed shirt and search for your own, holding it across your front to hid your chest.
As you reach for your bra, you hear a yawn that settles to a ‘morning.’
You gasp, thinking you were the only one awake, and glance over at Mr. Odinson as he reaches to grip the doorframe, leaning inside it. His own eyes go wide as he sees you and you hug his shirt close across your chest, only pushing your cleavage higher in your effort to hide.
“I’m sorry,” you spin your back to him and snatch up your bra and shirt, “did my alarm wake you?”
You hurry across the room, bouncing too much for comfort. You try not to notice that he's still shirtless himself. He's your boyfriend's father! Neither of you should be looking at each other.
“Uh... no, no, I was making coffee and thought to offer some...” he takes a breath, “it’s a Norwegian blend.”
“Sorry, I...” you scramble down the hall and quickly hide in the bathroom.
Oh god. You can’t believe you did that. You should’ve known better than to just strip down out in the front room. You just assumed you would hear a man that big prowling around. Prowling? It is his home.
You glance at yourself in the mirror. Oh, you really hope he didn’t see all that. Surely the shirt must have shifted in your flight. You cringe and toss the shirt, quickly hooking your bra in place and squeezing back into your uniform.
You rinse out your mouth and splash water over your face, preparing to face your shame. You fold Mr. Odinson’s shirt and emerge quietly. Maybe he’ll be kind enough to have retreated somewhere else with his coffee. He’s standing by the couch, looking at your phone as it lights up on the arm of the couch.
“Oh, shoot,” you rush over, “that better not be Karl.”
“Mom,” Mr. Odinson reads and backs away.
“Uh, oh, okay,” you frown and hold out his shirt, “here, I should answer.”
“Thank you,” he accepts the shirt and bows his head, backing away as he shows his palm.
He turns and marches into the kitchen as you untether the phone from the charging cord and answer it tentatively. As you put the speaker to your ear, your father’s holler sounds in the background of your mother’s clucking.
“I’ve been calling all night!” She chirps, “where are you?”
“Mom, I told you...”
“You told me nothing,” she accuses, as always. “Your father is livid.”
“What? Why?”
“Don’t act so innocent,” she snaps then the phone jostles and she squawks again before a snarlish snort sounds into it.
“Listen here, you little whore,” your father barks, “I won’t have this under my roof. I won’t.”
“I don’t understand, dad,” you squeak, “I didn’t do anything. I left money on the fridge. Didn’t you get it?”
“SheVibe,” he sneers and you hear something clatter. No. He opened your package. It said discreet packaging but that doesn’t matter with them. “Fucking slut.”
“Dad, I--” your voice piques and catches in your throat.
You were only curious. Magni’s been so eager and you still feel so unready so you thought if you figure yourself out first, it might not be so bad. You sniffle, barely holding back tears as your father descends into a tirade, working in every slur he can think of.
You listen silently, your eyes fixated on the wall paint. Not like that at home, no holes or scuffs, and the air doesn’t smell of cigarettes and garbage. Your father’s hateful ramble turns to a dull drone in your ears as you just stare, fighting back the hot gloss in your eyes.
Finally, he finishes. He’s breathless from his anger. You don’t have a chance to apologise again before you hear the phone fly and the call ends. He must have thrown it. You lower your arm and just stand there.
You move cautiously and look over the tidy room. You put your phone on the small table and go to the couch to tidy up the pillows and blanket. You live in a mess but you don’t want to leave one in someone else’s home. Especially one as nice as this.
It always hurts a little to see how nicely Magni lives. It fills you with doubt. Would he be with you if he saw your home?
“Everything okay? Bit early to be calling?” Mr. Odinson surprises you as the scent of coffee wafts in with him.
You flinch, stung by the snap back to reality. You nod and sniff, forcing a smile. You’ve honed the mask since childhood. And when the teachers noticed the way you winced at the grazing of a bruise, you just shrugged it off and kept your smile beaming.
“Yeah, yeah,” you assure him with a rocky chuckle. You won’t mention your parents are on a bender. “My mom couldn’t find something. Turns out I borrowed it and left it in my locker at work.”
“Ah,” he nods though there is a hint of cynicism in the single syllable, “I’m sure it’s nothing. So, coffee before you go?”
“Oh, thanks, Mr. Odinson--”
“Thor,” he corrects you.
“Thor,” you echo, “but I should go. I’ve stayed too long as it is. I’m just going to go say goodbye to Magni.”
“Right, yes, well, you know you’ll never overstay your welcome, not after brownie cake,” he grins.
Your smile is a bit more genuine as his cheeks dimple back at you. You nod and shrug and grab your purse and reach behind the table awkwardly to unplug your charger. You tuck everything into your bag and head down the hall to Magni’s room.
You tap on the door but all you hear from within is his constant rumble. You’ll just kiss his forehead and be on your way. You can text him to let him know what’s up later. He probably won’t wake up until noon at earliest.
You near his bed as he sleeps with no shirt, one long leg hanging over the edge. You ignore the lotion and kleenex close by. It makes you feel bad. You knew what he’d planned but it’s not your fault the night was spoiled. Who are you kidding? You would’ve just chickened out again.
You sit on the side of the bed and steady yourself on his bicep, leaning over him as you whisper, “hey, Mag, I’m just heading out.” You bend and kiss his forehead and feel him squirm, “love y--”
“Ugh! You know I hate being woke up!” He throws his arm out and his elbow hits your boob, nothing too painful but it hurts all the same, “Get out!”
His holler has you on your feet. Your heart is once more pounding as you hear the echo of your father’s voice in his. You blink as your eyes tingle again.
“Sorry, Mag, I was just saying goodbye,” you squeak.
He doesn’t respond as he pulls his pillow over his head and rolls back over. You can’t help the spring of tears that bursts forth. You didn’t do anything, you just wanted to give him a kiss.
You squeal in surprise as someone nudges your shoulder and Thor moves you from behind. Gently as he guides you out of his way before barreling towards the bed. He rips the pillow from Magni’s arm and brings it back down to give him a fluffy blow.
“Oi, I didn’t raise you to yell at a lady like that so you get up and apologise right now, Magni,” he demands and smacks him again with the pillow. It can hardly be much of a punishment.
“Dad, I’m sleep--”
“I do not care. You have all day to lay around. Like every day. So you sit up and say sorry.”
Magni grumbles and pushes himself onto his back. He sits up and scowls between you and his dad. He shows his teeth and huffs, “I’m sorry, okay? I was sleeping and you scared me.”
Thor sighs, “really? I’ve a mind to tell her not to come back. She shouldn’t waste her time.”
“Mr. Odinson, really, I snuck up on him," you say.
“No more excuses. Not for him,” he growls and turns to you, his snarl softening in an instant, “I’ve made you a cup to go. You’ll take it with you and drive safe, won’t you?”
“Uh,” you peer between him and his son. “Sure?”
“A good coffee to get your head straight,” he waves you to the door, “and think about if my son is worth your energy, eh? I often ask myself the same.”
You nod and keep silent. You just need to get out of there, go somewhere you can be alone. Just a few minutes before you face the inevitable. You go ahead of Thor and he follows, slamming the door at his back in a final reprimand to Magni.

Deadlock x GN!reader
💛Blunt honesty💛
words:1850
Note from Salty (me): pls excuse the spam post I can't help it I have too many ideas flowing in-I legit haven't written fanfiction in so long and now that I got back in it I can't fucking stop- anyways I am basing this fanfic off a Iso x deadlock post I saw and I'm obsessed with (fanart in question on @sunsettemplar posts)
Warnings: foul language
Song (Chemical - post malone)
💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛
"Well I'm sorry, but it's shit- plain and simple." The blonde Norwegian declared loudly, her clear blue eyes boring into yours as she held up a can of red bull, a new flavor that had been released recently that you wanted to try. You thought it was good- but Iselin seems to have quite the opposite opinion.
"Iselin, C'mon it's not that bad-" you Chuckled out softly, sipping the drink again. The flavor was iced vanilla berry, and since you loved vanilla flavored thing- you assumed that you'd live this new drink. Indeed; the taste was getting addictive - more than expected. "(Y-N); You know I love you, right?" Iselin said, resting her real hand onto your shoulder for a short moment. "Yea ..?" You replied, cocking your head to the side.
"Good. I love you- But you have poor taste in drinks. That red bull tastes foul." She once more deadpanned- gently squeezing your shoulder affectionately as she spoke to you. Her slightly messy blonde hair fell to the side as she cocked her head to the side, leaning in to place a small and slightly rough peck on your cheek. "More for me then-" you giggle out, sipping the drink once more, not realizing that you had essentially nearly finished the can already.
"(Y-N), darling, I think that enough caffeine for today-" Iselin said as she cocked an eyebrow at your rapid consumption of the drink- lord knew you could be a gremlin when you had to much caffeine in your day. You simply smiled, finishing the can to toss it out- already feeling the burst of energy starting to take over. All Iselin could do at that moment was sigh and shake her head- but she did let a small smile take over, because whether she liked it or not- your energy burst were contagious.
💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛
"Iselinnnnnnn-" You called out loudly from your dorm, the door was barely cracked open but lord knew you had some damn lungs in you, and Deadlock could quite literally hear you calling out for her from the common room. You had decided to spend your energy on cleaning your dorm room, now that you had some motivation you went in full swing.
Iselin made her way to your dorm- peeking her head in with a deadpan look as always. "Yes, darling?" She simply asked in a much calmer, flat tone as she watch you sort through piles of things. You turned around instantly, strutting over to her. You had a brand new, still in the package lipstick - one you had bought maybe a few months back, but the more you looked at it, less it seemed like your shade. It was a shame- the color was really pretty.
You walked up to Iselin - holding up the packaging near her face, simply observing, looking as her then the shade. "What are you doing?" Iselin once more asked in a deadpan, mild disinterested with the sudden color matching session. "I think this shade would suit you better than it would on me- wanna try it on?" You asked her with a small smile forming. You gently handed her the packaged lipstick, watching as she took it with her bionic arm, looking only mildly interested now.
"I don't usually wear lipstick. But I can try it, yeah." She simply said before tearing the package open, finally freeing up the lipstick tube from its cardboard and plastic packaging. She headed to a nearby mirror- the one mounted over your dresser- to apply the reddish brown lipstick; as she walked over she read the packaging briefly for the fun of it. "Highly pigmented, transfer proof... Hm."
She finally started to apply the lipstick - the color suiting her quite well. You walked up behind her, looking at her reflection with a slight smitten look on your face. "You look pretty." You said with a smile as you looked at her reflection.
"Mhm... I want to test the lipstick and see if it's as good as advertised." Deadlock said, turning to look at you, a small smirk forming on her lips. Before you can ask her how or why- she had a hand gripping your chin to hold your face in place. "WaiT-!" But any further questions or protests were brutally cut off with her lips- first on your lips before being peppered all over your face.
You turned into a giggling mess- feeling giddy and slightly flustered as she gave you that sudden burst of affection, your cheeks tinting a light pink while she left lipstick marks all over. After about a minute of her attack; Iselin pulled back, still holding your chin as she looked over your face.
Iselin frowned, taking out her phone. She turned your head to face to mirror, face squished in her hand. You had a smitten look on your face while she looked annoyed, snapping a picture of you two in the mirror. "It's not transfer proof -... And highly pigmented my ass- after the two first kisses its faded." Iselin mumbled out - she was actually going to leave a 1 star review on the brands website with the picture of your kiss-marked face as proof.
"Iselin! I look dumb in that picture -" you whined slightly, your face still being squished in her hand as she was writing the review with her other hand. "Darling, you always look dumb. But you're my dummy." Deadlock replied - finishing up her review before turning to place another kiss on your lips before you could make any complaints on her remark- once more melting into the kiss.
"I need to head off to prepare for a mission now, darling." Iselin said as she pulled away from the kiss, loosening her grip on your chin and jaw before pulling you into a hug. You were still a but lovestruck from her affection bombing of Earlier, but that went without any complaints on your end- and she knew very well that you were enjoying every second of the affection she had to give. "Be safe, Iselin. I love you!" "Love you too, (Y-N)."
💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛
Deadlock had left for her mission and you were finishing up cleaning your dorm- your face still covered in kiss marks from deadlock and her new lipstick. You didn't mind it one bit- instead anytime you saw yourself in the mirror, you were giggling like a kid. The suddenness of Iselin's affection - even if it was to 'test' the lipstick- was always welcome on your part.
You knew she was a blunt and honest person - so moments like those meant so much more than it looked. Sure, she could be a bit dry on words and sometimes looked cold on her actions towards you- but if you look past the blunt exterior - her intentions and her honesty in it all is what made you melt and fall for her a bit more every time.
It had been a few hours, dinner time passing by fast as you made yourself something easy and fast to eat, mainly passing time on your phone as you waited for Deadlock to send you a message. It was in her habit to send a short, quick text whenever she was nearly done with the mission - or fully done- to assure you she was okay. You weren't generally too worried for her; she was with a team of more than capable agents to help her if need be.
And the text came by sooner than anticipated, making you smile giddily. It was just a short text, a simple "Everyone's okay- heading home soon 💛" but it always made you happy to get that good news message. You tapped on the notification on your phone, opening the chat bubble to text her back.
You: "Good to hear you're okay, love 💛"
You: "Are you in the aircraft to head back? Or still on the field?"
Iselin: "Just boarded."
You: "... So you aren't busy right now, riiiiight? 👀"
An idea was bubbling into your mind, cackling slightly as you hopped up from your bed-setting your phone down for a short moment. You rummaged in your closet, taking out her Zip up hoodie you had stolen a short while ago when she was out on a different mission. You set the lighting in your dorm to only be on the fairy lights around your mirror before getting to work.
You took off any clothes you had on except for your underwear - wearing the hoodie unzipped. You still had the lipstick marks on your face- adding a bit of spice. You picked up your phone, angling the camera to snap a picture - where the open hoodie showed off your nude chest, where the underwear was visible along with your thighs. Half your face could be seen on the picture - but the kiss marks were visible as day. You finally opened the text chat with your lover once more.
Iselin: "No- I am in the aircraft, so just on my phone. Why?"
You: "Oh no reason 👀"
Iselin: "...What did you do?"
You: "*1 image attachment.*"
You: "just this "
Iselin looked at her phone in slight confusion, finally deciding to tap on the image attachment and look at the picture you sent. Once it loaded up and opened on her phone screen - she hummed in approval as a small smirk formed onto her face. The small change of behavior seemed to have caught Killjoy's attention - turning to look at her teammate.
"What has you looking at your phone that way?" Killjoy asked in a slightly teasing tone towards Iselin - raising her head slightly as if to try to peek at the phone. Iselin was quick to shut her phone- hiding her screen immediately. "(Y-N) Sent nudes." Iselin bluntly replied, her deadpan stare coming straight back as she looked at Killjoy - watching as the other sentinel froze up, clearly not expecting that answer.
"..Are you pulling my leg-?" Killjoy asked a bit bluntly, still a bit surprised by Iselin's blunt honesty. "No, she sent me a nude in my zip up hoodie." Iselin replied once more with a bit more honesty than she should have had. "I... I didn't need to know that -" killjoy said as she took a step back, allowing deadlock to have some privacy for her phone once again. "You asked." The blonde woman simply retorts, opening her phone once more.
Iselin: "You look hot in my hoodie. You going to stay like that till I get back?"
You: "If you want me too 👀😇"
Iselin: "I want you, yes."
You: "That's not-"
You: "I mean yes, I want you very much too but close enough I guess 😂💛"
Iselin: "I mean, you understood 🤷🏼‍♀️💛"
Iselin: "Now be good, I'll be home in 30. Love you."

Canada selects Boeing's P-8A Poseidon as its new multi-mission aircraft
The partnership with Canadian industry will provide long-term economic prosperity to Canada 🇨🇦
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 11/30/2023 - 18:52 in Military
With the P-8, Canada guarantees the interchangeability of allies NORAD and FIVE EYES.
The government of Canada signed a letter of offer and acceptance of foreign military sales for up to 16 Boeing P-8A Poseidon aircraft, as part of the Canadian Multimission Aircraft Project (CMMA).
Canada joins eight defense partners, including all allies of FIVE EYES, the intelligence alliance that also includes the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, and becomes the fifth NATO nation to have selected the P-8 as its multi-mission aircraft. The first delivery is scheduled for 2026.
Tumblr media
“The P-8 will strengthen Canada's defense capability and readiness, and we look forward to delivering that capability to the Royal Canadian Air Force,” said Heidi Grant, president of Business Development at Boeing Defense, Space & Security. “Together with our Canadian partners, we will deliver a strong package of industrial and technological benefits that will ensure continued prosperity for Canada's aerospace and defense industry.”
The P-8 is the only proven in-service and production solution that meets all CMMA requirements, including range, speed, strength and payload capacity. This decision will benefit hundreds of Canadian companies and bring decades of prosperity to Canada through the support of the platform provided by our Canadian industrial partners.
The acquisition of P-8 will generate benefits of almost 3,000 jobs and $358 million annually in economic output for Canada, according to a 2023 independent study by Ottawa-based Doyletech Corporation.
“This is a very important day for the Royal Canadian Air Force and Boeing,” said Charles 'Duff Sullivan, managing director of Boeing Canada. "The P-8 offers unparalleled capabilities and is the most affordable solution for acquisition and life cycle maintenance costs. There is no doubt that the P-8 will protect Canada's oceans and borders for future generations."

The partnership with Canadian industry will provide long-term economic prosperity to Canada.
The Poseidon Team is the cornerstone of Boeing's Canadian P-8 industrial partnership, composed of CAE, GE Aviation Canada, IMP Aerospace & Defense, KF Aerospace, Honeywell Aerospace Canada, Raytheon Canada and StandardAero. The team is based on the 81 existing Canadian suppliers for the P-8 platform and more than 550 Boeing suppliers in all provinces, contributing to the company's annual economic benefit of approximately CAD$ 4 billion for Canada, supporting more than 14,000 Canadian jobs.
With more than 160 aircraft delivered or in service and 560,000 collective flight hours, the P-8 has proven capabilities for anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and humanitarian assistance/disaster relief response.

Slept Ons 2024 (and one from earlier)
Tumblr media
Tindersticks
We missed a few. We always do. December is always a month for catching up on other peoples’ favorites, checking out lists, listening to radio and discovering that, as rich and crowded as our collection of favorites was, we didn’t get to everything. In this annual feature, Dusted writers celebrate the ones that almost got away. Contributors include Bill Meyer, Patrick Masterson, Jennifer Kelly, Jonathan Shaw, Ian Mathers and Bryon Hayes.
Kjell Bjørgeengen & Chris Cogburn — Fear of the Object (Sofa)
Confession time: I slept on this recording for over a year. Originally released in May 2023, it came to me that summer, and despite hours of listening and repeated efforts to grasp its very specific enormity, I never felt like I could do it justice. Fear of the Object comprises four CDs packaged in a box that is paradoxically swanky in its grey austerity. Each disc was recorded at a different location and event, by the core duo of Kjell Bjørgeengen, a Norwegian video and sound artist, and Chris Cogburn, a Texan percussionist and electronic musician. The essence of the project is to use Cogburn’s instruments, Bjørgeengen’s translations of video signals to sound, the occasional input of sympathetic musicians (Juan Garcia, Judith Hamann, Ingar Zach, and Aimée Theriot all contribute), and the characteristics of each space to explore the differences between object-generated and electronically sourced resonance. Each presentation is broadly similar, a passage of long tones that either roughen or coexist without disrupting each other. And each is so different, from second to second or disc to disc, feels profoundly different and absolutely absorbing, so that my efforts to articulate said differences feel forever inadequate.
Bill Meyer
Cairo Jag — “N.R.G.” / “Tides” / “Worm”
I couldn’t tell you how or why I found this band — none of my usual newsletters or other channels seem to have written about them, and the best I can intimate is giving “Tides” a spin ahead of a summer support slot for JJUUJJUU at the Empty Bottle I would’ve seen flit across my inbox — and they didn’t even have a proper release to point to in 2024, just three singles spread out over five months in the middle of the year. But you don’t need more than that to get the point: These guys get it. Heavy grooving in the rhythm section, mind-flaying guitar, just-distant-enough vocals, hell, even singalong choruses: All of it points to the beautifully damaged kind of napalm psych I’ve seen work just as well among metalheads as it does among the more strictly acid-inclined. If you miss High on Fire and the output of Birds of Maya or Mammatus simply isn’t enough for you, add this Indianapolis trio to your list of essential listens, then keep an eye out for when they burn both ends on a stage near you. Stay fried, fellas.
Patrick Masterson
The Sleeveens—S-T (Dirt Nap)
You might wonder why I didn’t get to this one sooner, given that the band played Goner Fest, the world’s best and most reliable showcase of punk rock every damn year. Or that they released this self-titled debut on Dirtnap, the label of choice for the Texas garage punk juggernaut The Marked Men and related spin-offs like Radioactivity and Bad Sports. Or that they’re Irish, always a plus when your name is Kelly. But the fact is that I missed it until I went on a holiday hiatus “best of” binge, and heard the rollicking, surprisingly sensitive “Metallica Font” on Nate Knaebel’s excellent 2024 wrap (full disclosure: Nate occasionally writes a review for Dusted). It’s a total banger, rough and heart-felt and rowdy, and not the only one. If you don’t get a rush from headlong, hoarse-romantic “Give My Regards to the Dancing Girls,” there’s something dead inside you. The Sleeveens occupy that wry, busted emotional space where they see the world as it is and carry on anyway, turning a line like “Singing like Aretha Franklin, pissing in the eyes of your racist uncle” into a disgusted rallying cry. Here’s a band that can go hard while remaining fundamentally sweet and wistful, cranking headbangers with heart and world-beating choruses with a crack of melancholy running through them. If I compare Sleeveens to the great Thin Lizzy, it’s not just because they’re both Irish. It’s because they’re both great.
Jennifer Kelly
Subdued — Abbatoir (La Vida Es un Mus)
youtube
The avalanche of excellent punk music made during 2024 had the unhappy consequence of lots of releases being given relatively cursory attention when they deserved a whole lot more. England’s bumping scenes, from Yorkshire to Brighton, were especially fecund in 2024, and terrific records by Imposter, Bad Breeding, Hellscape and the Chisel came and went. I listened and liked them, but the pace of life and the ongoing slide of other music carried me elsewhere. Abbatoir, the second LP by Londoners Subdued, might be the best of the bunch; certainly it marks a band in striking development, fusing the muscular anarcho-punk of previous record Over the Hills and Far away (2020) with death-rocking textures that evoke Rudimentary Peni at Blinko’s rawest. But the more palpable resonance is with a band like Subhumans, c 1984. Melody infuses the strongest songs on Abbatoir, like “Vulturemen” and “Children of God,” complementing the political rage with memorable sonic structures. The real thrill on the record is the closing song, “Deserve Anarchy,” a downhill sprint powered by venom and sweat. Singer Jack shouts, “Their crisis of excess / In a crisis of need / We deserve anarchy now.” The precise meaning of “deserve” is an open question there, provoking, punishing, tempering. I hear multiple intended significations — but it’s anarchy. It doesn’t want to be mastered.
Jonathan Shaw
Tindersticks — Soft Tissue (Lucky Dog/City Slang)
youtube
It makes sense that my pick for an album I’ve slept on is more often than not an act I’m not super familiar with. Why wouldn’t I go out of my way to play the new record by one of my favorite bands? But longevity can complicate this. There is a place where you can divide the discography of long-running Nottingham band Tinderstick pretty easily; from 1993-2008 one group of six people made six albums (five of which I adore, one I need to go back to someday); then half of them left, and then from 2008 through 2021 they added a new rhythm section and made seven more. I’ve checked in on and enjoyed a couple of those (if nothing else, Stuart Staples’ voice is still a marvel), but they haven’t stuck with me the way their earlier era has, and 2021’s Distractions left so little impression I couldn’t tell you anything real about it now. So, it was with resignation and foreboding that I added Soft Tissue to my year-end listening roundup. It made the cut partly because of the modest running length (just under 40 minutes if you don’t count an unnecessary edit of the opening track tacked on to the end), but I expected mere due diligence; time to check in and confirm that this old favorite was doing fine but maybe wasn’t for me anymore.
That initial listen, I basically had my hand paused over the stop button, waiting to be unimpressed enough to eject and move it to the recycle bin. But I never quite hit it. I couldn’t make my mind up after one listen, but I had a lot to get through, so I filed it away as a future problem. Which is how I found myself playing it compulsively a week or two after I had finished off my 2024 lists, belatedly realizing that Soft Tissue not only feels like a new Tindersticks album that will stay with me, but my favourite since 2001’s Can Our Love… (an overlooked album that’s probably top ten all time for me). Part of it is that they seem to have returned a bit to the soul influences of that LP and 1999’s Simple Pleasure. Nothing here’s as propulsive as “People Keep Comin’ Around” or breathes fire like “Chilitetime,” but the more active songs like “Turned My Back” and “Don’t Walk, Run” groove in a way I no longer expected. And the slower, more abstract atmospheres of “Falling, the Light” and “The Secret of Breathing” have a delicacy and lightness of touch that it feels like they’ve been missing for a while. Maybe there’s more for me to unearth in the records between 2001 and now, but for the moment I’m just grateful to have a Tindersticks album I unabashedly love for the first time in a couple of decades.

Yuasa-Exide — Information and Culture & Naturally Reoccurring (Round Bale)
Minneapolis mainstay Doug Busson mines the lo-fi strain of 1990s nostalgia with his Yuasa-Exide project. He distills fuzzy, punky kiwi jangle through a hazy cloud of the indie rock purveyed by the likes of Homestead, Matador, and Merge, tossing the sonic salad with a dressing made of loner home recordist vibes. This music is a pure nostalgia trip for folks like me, those of us who’ve bought tickets to every recent Pavement and Dinosaur Jr. reunion show, flying in the face of middle age responsibility. It’s noisy and warm and full of recorder grot and tape hiss but contains enough melody to be charming and downright catchy. Busson’s been doing his thing for awhile, but flies so far below the radar that fellow Minnesotan David Perron and his Round Bale Recordings imprint sought to transmute his music into physical form. Spoofing the format of the old MCA Twin Pax twofer cassettes, Perron brought a pair of Busson’s recent song cycles into existence. The A side has a coarse grit, while the flipside finds Busson tumbling his rough-cut stones into fuzz-pop gems. Yuasa-Exide definitely slakes my lo-fi thirst.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk won the backing of shareholders Thursday in his fight to reclaim a $56 billion pay package voided by a Delaware judge who ruled the record-breaking compensation was excessive.  Shareholders voted in favor of restoring the package they approved in 2018, Brandon Ehrhart, Tesla’s general counsel and board secretary, announced onstage at the company’s annual shareholder meeting. He did not announce the vote totals. The crowd at the meeting in Austin, Texas, cheered after the announcement, according to the livestream of the event. Ehrhart also said shareholders voted to move Tesla’s corporate home to Texas from Delaware, fleeing the state where most big companies are incorporated, after Musk said Delaware’s court system was “broken.”  The win for Musk came on the shoulders of Tesla’s individual investors, who Musk said backed him by a wide margin, in contrast to some institutional investors who criticized his pay. He used his account on X, where he has 187 million followers, to rally support among retail investors and criticize those who opposed him, such as a Norwegian sovereign wealth fund.  But the fight over the $56 billion isn’t over. The Delaware judge who struck down Musk’s compensation in January is likely to be asked to rule on whether the latest shareholder vote was fair under the state’s business laws. And last week, a different Tesla shareholder from the one involved in the earlier case filed a new lawsuit, arguing that the second vote should be ruled invalid.

US aid to Ukraine, delayed by pro-Putin House Republicans in the US, has caused European NATO members to speed up their own assistance to the Ukrainians.
Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren says Ukraine should receive its first F-16 fighter jets this summer as Europe pushes to aid Kyiv amid complications sparked by a stalled aid package in the U.S. Congress. Ollongren told RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service during a visit to Kyiv on March 21 that a plan to deliver 24 F-16s jets is on track, with the first aircraft coming from Denmark. "I think we are on track to see deliveries, first Danish this summer, and then we're going to scale up," she said while declining to give the exact number of planes involved in the first delivery. "We know that we will start with the Danish F-16s, that is now in our planning and in the Ukrainian planning. And in the end, I mean, it doesn't matter anymore. If it's a Dutch or Danish or Norwegian F-16 because [the planes are] going to be Ukrainian." The arrival of the fighter jets will be a long-awaited development to help Kyiv fill a crucial hole in its defense capabilities. Russia has used its more advanced and more numerous jets to repeatedly bomb Ukrainian cities, slow its counteroffensive, and threaten its ships exporting grain crucial to its economic survival, making Kyiv’s acquisition of modern U.S. jets a key ingredient to its successful defense of the country.
There is also talk in Europe of imposing tariffs on Russian grain.
EU eyes tariffs to 'choke off' Russian grain sales
Back in the US, contact your House member and urge support for aid to Ukraine against Putin's genocidal invasion.
With Democrats, thank them for their support; appreciation for previous efforts will encourage them to stay the course. With Republicans, ask them why they are helping one of America's most virulent enemies; tell them that Ronald Reagan would be ashamed of their tacit backing for the Evil Empire.

Wind-borne microplastics are a bigger source of ocean pollution than rivers, say scientists
More than 200,000 tonnes of tiny plastic particles are blown from roads into the oceans every year, according to research.
The study suggests wind-borne microplastics are a bigger source of ocean pollution than rivers, the route that has attracted most attention to date. The analysis focused on the tiny particles produced by tyres and brake pads as they wear down.
It estimated that 550,000 tonnes of particles smaller than 0.01mm are deposited each year, with almost half ending up in the ocean. More than 80,000 tonnes fall on remote ice- and snow-covered areas and may increase melting as the dark particles absorb the sun’s heat.
Microplastic pollution has polluted the entire planet, from Arctic snow and Alpine soils to the deepest oceans. The particles can harbour toxic chemicals and harmful microbes and are known to harm some marine creatures. People are also known to consume them via food and water, and to breathe them, But the impact on human health is not yet known.
Earlier work suggested microplastic particles could be blown across the world, but the new study is the first to quantify the effect. The scientists concentrated on fine tyre and brake dust as there is better data on how these are produced than tiny microplastics from other sources, such as plastic bottles and packaging.
“Roads are a very significant source of microplastics to remote areas, including the oceans,” said Andreas Stohl, from the Norwegian Institute for Air Research, who led the research. He said an average tyre loses 4kg during its lifetime. “It’s such a huge amount of plastic compared to, say, clothes,” whose fibres are commonly found in rivers, Stohl said. “You will not lose kilograms of plastic from your clothing.”
Airborne transport has received much less attention than rivers because only the smallest particles can be blown by the wind and their size makes them difficult to identify as plastic. “The really small particles are probably the most important in terms of health and ecological consequences because you can inhale them and the very small particles can probably also enter your blood vessels,” Stohl said.
The research, published in the journal Nature Communications, used two methods to estimate the amount of fine particles shed by tyres and brakes. The team then used well-established atmospheric circulation models to assess how they are blown around the globe.
Stohl acknowledges significant uncertainties in the data, such as how rapidly the particles fall to the ground in rain. The study suggests the finest particles can remain airborne for a month. But he is confident the results are the right order of magnitude. The next step is to accelerate development of measurement techniques for fine particles so that real-world samples can be checked.
Deonie Allen, at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, and not part of the research team, said: “This very well conducted research shows there is an awful lot of microplastic pollution coming from sources that most people have never even thought of. This is one of the first long-distance transport modelling papers and it shows how far these pollutants can move and how important the atmosphere is at part of the plastic pollution cycle.”
Erik van Sebille, at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, said: “The study shows how interconnected pristine remote areas are with what we’re doing in our cities and on our roads.” Sebille studies microplastic flows in the oceans and is planning to work with Stohl’s group to develop a global picture of plastic pollution, which will help determine how best to tackle the problem.
“We should be concerned,” he said. “We don’t still know really what the harm is of all these microplastics, but the precautionary principle says that we had better be careful and safe about these things.”
Stohl said the issue of tyre and brake pollution is likely to get worse before it gets better as electric cars become more common: “Electric cars are normally heavier than internal combustion engine cars. That means more wear on tyres and brakes.”
Reducing microplastic pollution from vehicles is difficult, he said: “The manufacturers will have to respond somehow, if this really becomes a matter of concern.” In the meantime, Stohl said people should reduce the use of plastics they can do without and ensure the rest is recycled.
I hope you appreciated this article. Before you move on, I wanted to ask if you would consider supporting the Guardian’s journalism as we enter one of the most consequential news cycles of our lifetimes in 2024.
With the potential of another Trump presidency looming, there are countless angles to cover around this year’s election – and we’ll be there to shed light on each new development, with explainers, key takeaways and analysis of what it means for America, democracy and the world.
From Elon Musk to the Murdochs, a small number of billionaire owners have a powerful hold on so much of the information that reaches the public about what’s happening in the world. The Guardian is different. We have no billionaire owner or shareholders to consider. Our journalism is produced to serve the public interest – not profit motives.
And we avoid the trap that befalls much US media: the tendency, born of a desire to please all sides, to engage in false equivalence in the name of neutrality. We always strive to be fair. But sometimes that means calling out the lies of powerful people and institutions – and making clear how misinformation and demagoguery can damage democracy.
From threats to election integrity, to the spiraling climate crisis, to complex foreign conflicts, our journalists contextualize, investigate and illuminate the critical stories of our time. As a global news organization with a robust US reporting staff, we’re able to provide a fresh, outsider perspective – one so often missing in the American media bubble.
Around the world, readers can access the Guardian’s paywall-free journalism because of our unique reader-supported model. That’s because of people like you. Our readers keep us independent, beholden to no outside influence and accessible to everyone – whether they can afford to pay for news, or not. {read}

Guys, gals, and nb pals, behold with great astonishment, as I hereby present:
My Mello Grand Final Top 12 🎈💃🎉
12. Awful Liar - Lisa Ajax Unfortunately this is a song I've heard a thousand times before, and I didn't particularly enjoy it then either. Nowhere near Torn from 2019, which I think is by far her best entry. Still love that song.
11. It's Not Easy to Write a Love Song - Dotter Same as with number 12, heard it before and wasn't a fan. Dotter has had very interesting entries in the past, and by contrast this feels like filler.
10. Dragon - LIAMOO Promising start, builds really nicely into the pre-chorus, but when the break hits and it kills the whole vibe. It just feels hollow. This should have been the demo, and then they could have let it stew a little bit until they figured out what they wanted this song to actually be.
9. Happy that you found me - Danny Saucedo There's nothing wrong with this as such, it just lacks a certain oumph. I have nothing against it, but then I don't have anything for it either. It's here, and I'm fine with that. This, along with Lisa, Dotter, and Smash, feel like entries whose main purpose is to include their artists' starpower in the running. Speaking of which...
10. Heroes Are Calling - Smash Into Pieces I like rock, which is why mello rock disappoints me. I listened to some of the band's other music, and both their entries so far have sounded like actual songs of theirs, only that have been very neatly combed and buttoned up. There's no rock-ish tooth to them. I want to hear the wolf, not the Irish wolfhound.
7. Que sera - Medina Now we're getting somewhere. I'm into happy, gut-punchy music at the moment, so in theory this should fit like a glove. I like it, but again: a bit too tame. It is a very competent song and performance, but the ebbs and flow of it are not creative enough to captivate me.
6. Give My Heart A Break - Cazzi Opeia From hereon out I really like every song. This is just a lot of fun. I find the staccato is a little annoying, but otherwise I have nothing against this. 3 minutes of escaping reality for a child's imagination. Count me in!
5. Light - Annika Wickihalder What. A. Voice! And it blends so masterfully with the arrangement of the song too. This is just a little slice of perfection. The only reason it isn't higher is that it is a little too mello-mainstream ala the bottom of this ranking, but this is mello done well enough to warrant a 5th place!
4. When I'm gone - Maria Sur The staccato in this is so much more pleasing to my ears than the one in no. 6. I love the drama, I love the build, and I love how confident Maria is performing it on stage. I wouldn't be disappointed if it won (thought I know it won't).
3. Back To My Roots - Jay Smith I said it last week and I'll say it again: I'm an unashamed Smith & Thell fan, and this is right up my street. This feels, for lack of a better expression, like a Song. I love the way the performance makes it feel like the music is done live as well. There is a complete musicality here that I am completely in love with.
2. Unforgettable - Marcus & Martinus Take the drama of no. 4 and turn it up a little more, and you get this. Masterfully executed song, and very stylish performance. This feels like a complete package that knows how to play to the performers' strengths. The only downside is the abrupt ending that promises yet another lift, but that it never delivers on. (And it will be very funny when two Norwegians win mello in the year that esc is hosted in Malmö.)
1. Effortless - Jacqline The other songs are good, but this is my favourite. Not because I think it's necessarily the best in an "objective" sense, but because it speaks particularly to something that I really like. The strong beat, and the way the sound production dances around her pitch perfect vocal (especially at the start of the chorus) really gets me. The cocky attitude, particularly in the entrance and exit, also help elevate (hehe) this entry to another level. It's effortless! I don't expect it to win, but it has my vote none the less.

One BDS thing that confused me so much at first
this is the only AXA I'd ever heard of before I heard of BDS:
Tumblr media
image description translation: package of oatmeal with the brand name AXA stylized as white text inside a red circle with a strand of wheat under. The packaging itself is orange and the Norwegian text lettkokte havregryn is capitalized in big text. Produced on Moss mill. It is marked with a green keyhole, signaling that it's healthy.
I'm pretty sure it's a different company, one based in Sweden. edit: yeah it is.
But the boycotted AXA is said to be an insurance company, and this AXA sells oats. Not that it's that relevant, I have like a full kilo left of oats I'm not gonna buy more regardless of boycotting but yeah. Confusing stuff.

A not-so-simple relocation, Days 13-15.
That whole situation with ordering things? It got worse. Last time: I couldn't make most orders because I either needed a Norwegian phone number, a Norwegian credit card, or a Norwegian bank account. Now: Apparently, I don't exist according to the local postal service. They just outright refused to deliver my packages on Day 13, which included the cat food my cats so desperately needed, among many other feline-related things. I was notified of this at 18:45 or so at night, as the postal service here seems to schedule deliveries for a timespan starting at 17:00. Which is fine, except that the online store stops their support at 17:00, so I couldn't get them to fix whatever* was wrong.
See the asterisk? Yeah, there actually wasn't anything wrong (as I found out today, Day 15). The post office are just being a bunch of dicks and redirected the shipment to a nearby (but not the closest nearby) package pickup area. Mind you, this is about 70kg worth of packages and I have no car. I am not carrying them for a 20 minute walk, even if it is all downhill. What the hell, Norwegian Postal Service? They never bothered explaining themselves, and the initial notice just said that they couldn't find the address. Mind you, same address we've had many other packages delivered by them with Kriatyrr's name on it. Today (day 15) I finally got the notification about the packages being left at the package dropoff. I logged in online and, using Kriatyrr's phone number, instructed them to be dropped off here. Again. And paying a fee for each package to be delivered to my home when I already paid said fee to begin with. And now they've decided they're delivering this... on Wednesday. It was scheduled to be delivered to my home Friday of last week. I... I have no words. This culture is so ridiculously hostile to the idea that someone might not be Scandinavian born-and-raised that absolutely nothing seems to work properly for someone who isn't.
I had to ration my cat food over the weekend. Anyone that knows me (or cat lovers in general) knows to what extent I make sure my cats are always fed and treated with care, and I had to drop their food intake to make it to today. To say I'm furious is an understatement.
Now, you'll notice that I said "until today". I started contacting vet offices around the area trying to find some stock of t/d to buy for my cats, and I finally found an online service that told me that a vet clinic clear on the opposite side of Bergen from here had some. I picked it up today. Meanwhile, Kriatyrr got sick. We were worried it was COVID when things took a turn for the worse on Saturday (Day 13). Unfortunately, when I went out to try and get some COVID tests, I discovered... that the grocery stores around here stopped carrying them entirely. Well, one stopped, the other might have stopped or might just be completely out with absolutely no sign that they were intending to stock any more. People asked why I had said that Norway was worse than (most of) the US with respect to their COVID response. This is why - no one cares here. They haven't for years now. The trip I made here two years ago where I had to go into quarantine was a joke because the highest chance I had at being infected was in the Bergen Airport, because no one bothered to even mask up. Well, it is two years later and they don't even bother to test things here anymore. Hell, they started a pilot wastewater testing plan (which is a good idea!) and then shrunk the pilot down to just a couple of points in Oslo. Because why bother finding out if you have a spike anywhere but the capital, right? Not like this virus seems to come in waves and hit different areas at different times so you can get a heads-up the moment one of your areas gets infected, right?
Anyway, rant aside, it appears as though only pharmacies have any COVID testing kits around here, and by the time I had gone through the grocery store those were closed. I even went out a second time (climbing that stupid hill again) to no avail. Sunday (Day 14) meant that just about everything was closed, because Norway still has a lot of religious laws about working on the sabbath, and I had to go hunting for a place, anywhere, that was actually open on Sundays that would have a test (and any other medical stuff we needed).
I eventually found two, one of which was actually accessible via bus. Went to downtown where the pharmacy was jam packed with sick people because, surprising absolutely everyone but me apparently, sickness doesn't observe Christianity and doesn't take off Sundays.
Folks, I am So. Tired. Of. This. Every step that I try to take, this country tries to thwart. I knew going into this that I was going to have an exceptionally rough time of things, I knew that the language barriers were going to get to me, but this has been absurd. Kriatyrr doesn't have Covid, for reference, and is on the mend at this point.
Today (day 15), I started feeling my muscular issues in my trapezius muscles start coming back with a vengeance. I had stopped taking my painkillers for my gout this morning because I was tired of getting punched in the stomach by them every day (and I'm worried I'm developing a resistance - which I am), but apparently they were also relieving some of the pain from those muscles.
The pain got so bad that I had to stop part-way through my workday, as I couldn't really sit at my desk any longer. In addition, I had to trek to the other side of Bergen (I live South of Sentrum, this is to the North) to pick up 6kg of cat food I had ordered. I just... gave up. I'm tired of having everyone look at me with pain in their eyes and treat me like an idiot because I don't understand enough Norwegian to ask my questions, or laughing at me when I do attempt to speak it. I'm tired of everything fighting me every. single. step. I'm tired of having to practically beg to get my cats the food they need to eat. I'm just so tired.

Talks on the next government's programme started this week, with four parties and their advisors and lobbyists all focused on the House of the Estates in Helsinki where multiple working groups were named this week to thrash out policy in different areas.
The negotiations are expected to be difficult, with the Finns Party's lines on immigration and European Union policy expected to be challenged by the more liberal Swedish People's Party.
Ilta-Sanomat reports (siirryt toiseen palveluun) that there appeared to be some frustration on Thursday night after Sebastian Tynkkynen, a former reality TV participant and Finns Party MP, had asked followers on Twitter to tell him which Yle content and channels were not necessary.
He had been appointed to chair talks on digital communications, which he interpreted to include Yle's funding and content.
That idea was slapped down by Prime Minister-elect Petteri Orpo (NCP) later on Thursday, when he was asked if his government would try to influence Yle's output. He said that no, content was not a matter for government, and that Yle policy is traditionally managed in parliament by cross-party consensus.
Tynkkynen was displeased by that comment, and said on social media later that Orpo had made a "big mistake".
Working groups officially start their deliberations next week.
Plastic pitch problem
Rubber crumb, an essential component of artificial football pitches, is to be banned by the European Union within eight years — and that could pose a huge threat to Nordic football.
That's according to the President of the Norwegian Football Association Lise Klaveness, who told (siirryt toiseen palveluun) Helsingin Sanomat that the Nordic countries need to find a replacement fast.
The tiny black pieces of rubber help make plastic pitches feel more like real grass, which does not grow at these latitudes for most of the year.
The spread of artificial pitches has helped more Finnish footballers play all year round, but the rubber crumb — which is usually made from recycled tyres — is toxic to humans and the environment.
It's already been removed by some European clubs, including Ajax Amsterdam, and now the EU has said that must happen across the bloc.
Speaking to HS at an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of Finland's women's national team, Klaveness said the rubber crumb ban will be a problem for the Nordic countries.
There are 29,000 artificial pitches in the EU, and 457 of them are in Finland. There have been attempts to find a sustainable alternative, but nothing has so far stood up to the challenging climate quite like rubber crumb.
Pea soup and war games
Iltalehti has been to meet (siirryt toiseen palveluun) some of the American soldiers taking part in the Arrow 23 military exercises in Niinisalo. Strategic and military chat was at a minimum, but the soldiers said they were surprised by the chilly weather in May.
One aspect of Finnish military life they did appreciate, however, was the food. Both soldiers said the food was tasty, and considerably better than the "MRE" (meal ready to eat) packages on offer in the US military.
Pea soup and chicken wings were particular favourites. Less popular were sauna and ice swimming, with the soldiers asking the reporter if that was "some kind of joke".
The Arrow 23 exercises bring together some 2,200 troops from six Nato countries for war games lasting until 15 May.

25 [M4F] #Norway/Anywhere. Soft Christian looking for life-partner.
I know the title is a little serious, but I want to be clear with what my goal for posting here is. Its to never having to post again. That being said, Im not expecting to jump into anything right away but to start out chatting and see if we match/there is a connection yada yada. :)
So that cleared up heres me:
Im a 25yo Norwegian with lots of love but sadly no-one to give it to. (Yet.) Simply put Im looking for someone to click with who shares my love for a more femdom/ and or RR leaning relationship, who also happens to be a Christian and believes in God. I know its a rare combination, and especially here but being an outlier I guess Im simply just looking for another? One other thing is, Im looking for someone who like me doesnt drink/do drugs. Its just something Ive never been a fan of/comfortable with. Looking for monogamous and long term obviously.
As for me Im a person who connects with few, but connects deep with those he do. Loyal and honest, in offer of support and Ill hear your rants. However I will tell you my actual thoughts on the dress. :D Im probably the more soft and cuddly type who takes life easy. Im tall and average but that doesnt matter much once u get me flustered. I dress pretty standard for a guy but Im a sucker for anything cute, light colors and pastel when looking at stuff. Quirky introvert and a lil bit of a nerd, books, video games, fantasy and all that. But I also like to play sports and be if not super at least somewhat active. A not is that with the exception of the Role reversal I do have fairly traditional Christian values and would much prefer the same.
Also Id be happy to send pic and verify once you hit me up, and hopefully you are too, as though chemistry is a big part, physical attraction still is a factor. Would prefer someone not obese thou, as I wan be able to be if not hyperactive, do some physical stuff with her, but beside that anything goes as long as we find each other attractive. Dark and politically edgy humor is part of the package too btw, though I know to hold back. Prefer messages and would be great if you gave a little bit of an introduction.
As for who Im looking for its hard to tell who you click and have chemistry with but someone with common values and interests is a good start and everything else is just bonus. But someone whos decisive and knows how to take a lil charge wouldn't hurt. Or someone who loves cuddles. Im fan of the sappy stuff. :) And yes Im probably a little bit kinky too, but I dont want that to be what determines a relationship.
Now Id love to hear some about you!
Dealbreakers:
As mentioned I dont drink or do drugs Im and looking for someone who isnt either. (My weird lil deal breaker.)
As for long term and settling Im bound to my nations borders thou per my situation now, but as for visiting theres more flexibility. :)
Anyway a lil unsure what to write in this one but if you've made it so far, and youre not scared of yet and youd think we could hit it off then what u waiting for, send me a message, so we can get to know each other! Even if u dont fit all of this, which you prolly shouldnt as love shouldn't be a list then dont be scared to hmu. Unless its a deal breaker kinda thing obv. :) Cant wait to hear from ya!
Remember I dont bite I cuddle. :)

Norway, a member of NATO, is the third country to donate F-16 fighters to Ukraine
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 08/27/2023 - 09:28am Military, War Zones
NATO member Norway will donate F-16 fighters to Ukraine, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said on Thursday amid Kiev's difficult counter-offensive against Russia.
Speaking to the Norwegian news agency NTB in Kiev, where he paid a visit on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day, Gahr Store said that Norway will supply F-16 aircraft to Ukraine, but it will probably be less than 10.
Gahr said he informed the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, about the donation of the aircraft and that Norway would discuss the number of planes, as well as the transfer schedule with Kiev and other allied countries.
“But Ukraine can count on the contribution of Norway,” the prime minister added.
Norway would be the third European country, after the Netherlands and Denmark, to donate F-16 planes.
Ukraine has long asked sophisticated fighters to give it an advantage in combat. He recently launched a long-awaited counter-offensive against Kremlin forces without air cover, putting his troops at the mercy of Russian aviation and artillery.
Tumblr media
In February, oil-rich Norway announced that it would donate 75 billion crowns ($7 billion) to Kiev as part of a five-year support package, making Norway one of the world's largest donors to Ukraine.
The money will be divided equally between military and humanitarian assistance over five years, divided into 15 billion crowns (1.4 billion dollars) annually.
Gahr Store announced on Thursday that Norway would also donate anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine, saying that “air defense is critical to Ukraine's ability to protect both the civilian population and frontline infrastructure and military units against any type of Russian air attack.”
“This is one of the largest Norwegian donations of military material to Ukraine to date,” Gahr said in a statement.
The Norwegian government has long stated that it is considering sending F-16 to Ukraine. In January, Norway received the first of the 52 F-35s ordered. The new fighters will replace Norway's F-16 fleet.
Last week, the Netherlands and Denmark announced that they will donate F-16 aircraft. Denmark said it will provide 19 planes, while the Netherlands reported that it will donate 42 of the jets.
Earlier this week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited several European countries, including the Netherlands and Denmark, but did not go to Norway.
