hi I’m annemarie and I’m an art historian! not adjuncting for the first time in five years was rly hard for me so I threw some slides together so I could still (sort of) teach the same material as my language of art class but a) I threw these slides together for instagram so space was/is limited and b) language of art is a ten week run through art history so I’m presenting only the most accessible information here – there’s so much more to this art period and to these artists! – please don’t expect it to be comprehensive and please do ask if you have any questions!

oh p.s. my first ever class of art history students came up with the name ‘art mom’ for me at the end of the quarter and yes it does make me cry if I think about it too long thanks so much for asking

Whenever I think of positive things from America my mind goes to our conservation of national parks, this dress is a direct inspiration of The Oxbow.

This one is for *gag* Karl Lagerfelds gala, I noticed he used a lot of scoop necks and tiered skirts so I leaned into the Chanel wedding dress look along with a hat, gloves, and pearls. Karl hated pink so I used pink

And now we have gilded glamour, I was inspired by the massive masquerade balls thrown at the time. I have a pigeon breast corset, a narrow skirt, and the peacock overskirt inspired by bustles.

I had to do an art analysis for APUSH. I did The Oxbow by Thomas Cole. I do not see how it relates to anything we're doing. It did not help me understand anything better, much like the rest of our assignments. I would like a new teacher, please.

Bull Moose by Stephen Oachs Via Flickr: TAKE A CLOSER LOOK! Another day in pursuit of Moose in Grand Teton National Park. This big fella was pretty animated...he got to the other side of the river...shook off the water like a dog would and then ran off into the woods in an odd, frolicking manner. (as if the cold morning water felt good) Crazy moose, it was 27 degrees!

I'm sure we didn't expect a guest bunny so soon. But let me introduce you to bunbun

This brave and very tiny girl belongs to my friend who noticed strange bloating on her rabbit. One intense surgery to remove a uterus full of pus later and this brave old lady survived. I will be caring for her post op care so she's gonna be with me for a while!

She's day two post op, wobby as hell from the anesthesia and pain meds, and yet still mischievous enough to plot her grand escape (before swiftly falling asleep by the door)

Brave BunBun is not out of the water yet and I'm waiting on tissue culture and bacterial culture results to see what the hell in the world did her uterus like that but for now, I'm glad she made it and we didn't have to put her down without giving her a chance to live.

Autumn Sunrise Painterly Clouds, Oxbow Bend

After a couple of solo trips, I finally took my husband to the Tetons for his first time on our 5th wedding anniversary. I’m not one to kick back and sleep in- I wanted to make the most of our short visit here, so naturally, I dragged him out of bed for a sunrise shoot. Beautiful painterly clouds briefly caught some pre-sunrise color reflected in the calm water of the Snake River.

November 2024: Rainy Saturday Quest

My old friend just where I left him for what seems like ages:

Someone left water bowls in The Wasteland for the demon dogs of the plains of Antioch:

The quest - we had three minnows left from our last fishing trip. Given the forecast, they weren't likely to survive until our next chance to fish so the only right action was to walk into the wild & release them:

Here is the spot I chose. I've seen wild minnows here so hopefully they will find a home among the wildlings:

It came home with me. Hopefully to propagate:

This is within walking distance of our house:

It might not be the deep wild but it is close enough:

As if sprouting from the footsteps of some Fae creature:

I've said it before...:

But I'll say it again, magic is where you find it in this world. You just have to open your mind & allow yourself to see it:
