I started watching the Quinton Reviews Nicktoons Unite video and I played this game as a kid when I rented it a couple times and it's so funny looking back on it now that as a kid I thought yeah these four cartoon villains are all equally bad and funny and now I realize yeah actually this group is kinda unbalanced vis a vis the ratio of evilness

Which is even funnier when you play the game and you fight the one dude who's canonically committed murder as the first real boss

i saw a post about another media i wasnt familiar with (i think it was in stars and time?) talking about the group's dynamic as like. it's found family but in a way that specifically rejects the traditional family roles- ie there doesn't have to be a "mom" and a "child" or any other named role for individual people, just their closeness is enough on its own to make them family. and i think that's how i feel about the rockafire a bit! like tbf i do think mitzi has a sibling-like relationship w beach bear and dook but that's kinda the only named relationship i feel even a bit strongly about lol. i feel like i can't think of any rae character without also thinking of how i like their dynamic with at least one other character, the way each character interacts with the others strengthens their own personality and i think thats super cool. i love those guys

I decided to give an old OC, Mango a nice design update, I also designed him a buddy named Gourdy.

Mango was the mascot of the public TV station named Volt City Public Broadcasting. Originally he only existed as a cartoon character that would appear in show bumpers in between shows. His popularity with children increased however when the station made a children's cartoon where he was the main character.

The show sought to educate children on the different genres of music by having Mango learn about and show appreciation for them in the show.

Due to the show's success the station commissioned a robotics/animatronics company named Mellotronics to make an Animatronic version of Mango that would be in the station's headquarters to interact with visitors.

VCPB sunk A LOT of money into the design of this character. All of this spending soon dug the station into a deep financial pit that the government simply didn't feel like bailing them out of. That means when the Animatronic was finally finished..... The station was already closed down, bankrupted by the very thing they believed would elevate them into the big leagues.

The animatronic was soon sent to a scrapyard where Mango activated, despite not having an artificial intelligence. Though when he realized that he had been thrown out and escaped the scrapyard to find a new purpose.

Gourdy was another animatronic made for a Halloween themed, live action children's show where Gourdy played harmless pranks on his friends and was generally mischievous. The show used an advanced animatronic to portray the main character. Although the show was moderately successful and was slated for a second season, prudish parents took issue with Gourdy's mischievous personality and the Halloween theming caused the show to get boycotted into early cancellation. The animatronic was then thrown into a storage closet in the VCPB headquarters where it sat until the studio shut down and some extraordinary circumstances occurred to give the animatronic life.
