Epic Mickey irks me a little because while it's canon that Walt Disney existed in-universe, we get nothing about how he felt about Oswald getting stolen, which isn't nice because he was vocal about it in interviews even though he never mentioned Mintz by name.
The implication from Epic Mickey is that he and Yen Sid abandoned Oswald and other stuff in "Defunctland" for years and years and did nothing about the blot despite Mickey's success. Which I hate the implication of. Also, Walter Lantz is never mentioned at all, or even seem to exist in-universe, which doesn't feel good because Walter Lantz and Walt Disney were happy about him being the new writer for Oswald. You know that famous image where Mickey is waving to a grumpy Oswald while smiling and walking towards him? That was from a letter from Walt to Walt(er) praising him. Also, that song about Oswald that some Disney parades sometimes sing? That was from Walter's show.
I've heard that the real reason why Oswald suddenly vanished from print, animation, comics and all was because he shared a name with the assassinator of JF Kennedy, in 1963. Since then, he wouldn't appear in anything until a few unnamed cameos in early Woody Woodpecker video games.
I think that being associated with a murderer despite having done nothing wrong, and then having your entire existence seemingly vanish into nothing is significantly worse than the "tHe cReAtOrS aBaNdOnEd hIm" thing that Epic Mickey went for, which is grossly oversimplified. If you're going to write metafiction, at least don't make erase a bunch of important irl people from existence?
Maybe we could have mention about something terrible happening in 1963, that made him vanish like that? Not even being under Disney's care would protect him from that. There could be a bit of metafictional commentary about how cartoons are seen as representations rather than people, and they need to please an audience who has the predisposition to associate them with things they had nothing to do with, and sheer coincidences can utterly break a career, and how maybe if you're not famous enough, you'll be hit way harder than someone popular. Maybe all the characters are aspiring hard for fame because they're afraid of how quickly public opinion of them can change, and how little control over they have over it.
IDK, I just like Lantz cartoons. I don't like how Epic Mickey treated him.
i genuinely did not know about walter lanz so this is very interesting to me but also how did you not hit tumblr's character ask limit
#im guessing the reason why lanz isnt mentioned is cuz disney didnt have permission to mention him/universal/mintz#so they kept it as kind of a dark 'oh he just fell into obscurity and mickey hit the jackpot' thing bc again#weird intersection of metafiction and writing an engaging stand-alone story#the only thing disney has the rights to is disney so thats the only guy they mentioned#long post#you would not enjoy the silver screen on account of the fact that i did not know lanz really existed so he was not dnd-ified or included

Part of what I love about Wyll is how he feels like a character you have to keep pulling back the layers on. Like one of those 3d puzzles you think you’ve got figured out and then you realize you’re right back where you started. Which I guess is just the long way of saying he's a well made character. I’m gonna do a play by play of my first interactions with him to illustrate my point:
When you first meet him you’re like omfg who is this boy with the dramatic theater kid entrance lmao. Wyll, you are so dorky (affectionate).
You next see him helping tiefling kids learn to fight. Not in a harsh militaristic way, more in a gentle and even playful way (eg. When you play as Wyll you can tell them dramatic stories about how Wyll slayed a dragon.) You're like oh yeah this guy has the whole hero thing going on. Very disney prince over here.
Then you talk to him and he talks about an evil devil that must be killed with such adamance and determination. You're like oh wow he can get pretty intense. He's so determined about this, he's willing to put aside the pressing threat of ceremorphosis. This kind of unmoving moral stance, this very good and serious abt it thing, it gives off paladin vibes imo
Ok so thats two sides of him, dramatic storybook hero and strong willed paladin.
Then you get to the confrontation with Karlach, and pretty quickly realize this flaming hot cheeto (idk why I called her that ok, but im leaving it in) of a tiefling shouldn't be killed. Wyll takes some convincing and you're like Wyll you dumbass you're seeing what Im seeing right? The tadpole is showing us she's innocent, why dont you believe that?
Then its only till later you realize he had so many good reasons to hesitate:
He has been doing this job for 7 years now, to break off from the script he's used to, is a risky thing. If he cant trust his 7 years of experience he's left floundering. If he cant trust that he's been only killing evil, then he's broken his moral code too. (If I were in his shoes id for sure be having an existential crisis)
He's learned the hard way to distrust devils, what if Karlach is tricking everyone into thinking she's innocent?
Or maybe he's scared of what it will mean if he doesn't kill her, he'll be breaking his pact, and the consequences for that will most definitely be harsh. I don't think that's selfish or cruel of him to consider killing her out of fear of what will happen if he doesn't. I think Wyll would be unfair to himself for those thoughts tho. Like the whole airplane oxygen mask analogy is a good way to talk about it. Wyll would go to every passenger on the plane and make sure their masks are on, then collapse from oxygen deprivation because he never put his own on. Perhaps an extreme and unrealistic scenario, but illustrative of his admirable but harmful self sacrifice.
In summary, his hesitation and need to be convinced shows a lovely amalgamation of his character, his life experience, and his values, and how it results in a moment of conflict and indecision.
But it takes very little to convince him not to kill karlach. You tell him twice that Karlach is no threat/innocent, and he stops panicking, and pulls himself together with the kind of emotional control/repression that makes you go "uh oh babes has unresolved trauma and needs therapy"
His ability to listen to others when people tell him he's wrong shows that he has a flexibility and emotional maturity that is unlike the stereotypical paladin. Once he realizes Karlach is innocent, the rules he follows no longer matter to him.
He resigns himself to his fate because for him there is no other way for it to be. This shows that no matter how theatrical his heroics appear, it is not merely a guise. You can trust that he truly cares for people because he is willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of a stranger.
Then Mizora shows up and his response is to argue against her, to say, "you told me no innocents". Which shows once again where his priorities lie, now that injustice has been pointed out to him he will use every ounce of his will to fight it. It also shows that human weakness again too. His fallibility (I mean who can blame him devils are great manipulators) and his worried questioning of the rules that he has followed for so long.
And then when you put all the drama aside, and listen to his lighthearted dialogue you remember/realize he’s also very goofy and the kind of chill guy you’d want to invite to every friend hangout.
asfgjkl; anyway I have way too many thoughts and feelings abt this guy. If you read all this damn. But lmk what you guys think about my reflections!
Also shoutout to all of the fic writers and random fan posts ive read that have inspired some of these thoughts

Magnifico's "Wish Stealing form" design/some Character Dump (Disney Wish)
Oh boy ya'll in a BIG BIG Story beat plus some more information on Amaya and Magnifico in my rewrite:
The Kingdom of Roses and Thorns
Oh yeah...this is another long post and Ik @oh-shtars @chillwildwave @signed-sapphire @annymation @uva124 @rascalentertainments is gonna love this idea
For starters...
I Had this nightmare of Magnifico because of this form and now you all will see it too :3
There were also other posts that inspired this design too, so I'll link them here:
Anyways, this post is mainly an MAJIOR STORY IDEA DUMP for my sweet sweet emo Maggy- erm Magnifico (he is glaring at me guys send help please)
Soooo....
I had this terrifying idea for TKoRaT Maggy, even before I had this nightmare of him, where he legit becomes somewhat something like this, but with more vine core when he is taking the wishes/"monster in my closet" wrong vibes.
More like this for the idea I'm going for:
This is one of the ideas I had for Maggy when he is taking the wishes. This is might not be final in my final version of Maggy, hell, I might change that particular design to be Amaya's form when she takes the wishes too, since hers is more smoke which is more or not on par with her character in my rewrite/redesign. It might end up being more of Maggy's thing with Amaya helping him get into this state of transformation to take the wishes since I'd imagine it more of a whole process, but it could also just be something they both do together.
Some more design details I added was his scars from when his kingdom was attacked and almost everyone died because he showed mercy to the attackers. He doesn't really have them in his main design, probably because he covers them up with Amaya's potions or the wishes could have some form healing abilities? Idk I'm still firguring out the magic system of my story or that I just keep forgetting to put those scars in his design so awesome???💀
In my post here, I said that they don't hold ceremonies that has them granting/taking the wishes like they did in the movie. This is mainly because I wanted to do a little something original and gives me the oppertunity to take in the horror aspects of the story (because I love scaring children(not in a bad way, but to show them that there are these kinds of people in the world yk?)). This is why I am intentionally making Maggy and Amaya horrifying in their own way because well...good people can become the bad guys if pushed in the right direction. Especially in what they do to other people. Mainly inspired from Hunchback and Prince of Egypt, with subtle, but TERRIFYING pieces.
BUT, They do have a ceremony, but it is not related to the wishes, it is just there to give them some sympathetic traits to Maggy and Amaya (after all they've been through, I just feel bad, they literally wanted to good things and the world just beat them with a 90 foot pole).
This one I tried making Maggy more jagged. Although it seems like he is a different character here, thats mainly my fault since I really tried to figure out what he would say to Star Boy in this "idea" scene but my brain blanked out and couldn't think of anything so wahoo
Star Boy in this scene doesn't even know he has a desire, he just didn't think stars can form desires (ofc Maggy and Amaya is going to manipulate the hell out of him and Asha :3)
ALSO
This is also the main reason I split Star Boy's powers between what Amaya and Maggy does.
Maggy has only 1 shape-shifting form, and it is only done to steal the wishes. He can't shape shift into anything else, but it is why when he steals star's powers, he becomes more of a terrifying shapeshifter.
Amaya creates dangerous potions, and more or not lurks in the darkness in some way like a cat to bring them to their doom. Although it would make more sense if Maggy has the creation part of Star's powers, I gave it to Amaya since it works for her too, and keeps the power system balanced in some way. If I do give Amaya the ability to also shapeshift into a monster from my dreams, I could also say the same thing can work in reverse too, I just personally think the creation part of her character conflicts with Asha's ability to create/draw magic.
Power wise for this design...
This form also gives Maggy the ability to see people's desires that HE could take. He can't really take them until they are 17-18 years old and older (ruh oh, 2 of our main protagonists fall under that age gap). Plus, he cant take them from children since they are young and dont understand these kinds of things.
This form also falls under the MAIN conflict of why the hell is everyone miserable when they turn around 17/18 years old? Oh yeahhh this is going to fall under how he steals the wishes, but I'm not going to say anything here yet because I really want it to be a surprise.
Nothing that he does is not without reason. He blames the stars for not granting his wish (there is a reason why they didn't), and for not stepping in when a star, or Aster (NOT STAR BOY) went "rouge" (not Aster's fault btw, they didn't have a choice). So, this presented him with this ideology (that I personally believe Amaya first started thinking this way, out of pain and wanting to blame someone for what happened a century ago) that in order for people to not wish on stars, is for them to never wish/dream again. The story in my version is the aftermath of this. Still figuring out THE MAJIOR STORY BEATS, but this falls under Star Boy as well.
Star Boy represents the thing Magnifico hates the most. Plus, Maggy has more of a personal beef with the stars so of course he is going to make sure Star Boy dies, becauseeee he didn't do it last time, so second times the charm, am I right? (OR MAYBE THE THIRD WHO KNOWS, LETTING THE STORY WORK ITSELF OUT ;3)
ORIGINALLY, this was going to be Amaya's thing, but as I said, this might end up being mainly Maggy's thing, or it is something they both do, since they share the same goal, but here is the designs I was going to show for that:
Anywaysssss, ya'll can ask me questions regarding to this design if ya'll want to! I'll gladly answer them! I also will accept suggestions for the design/abilities for this "wish stealing..." thing. I might come up with a better name for this form later. Soo have a happy weekend as your neighbor watches some marvel movies as I work on my projects for my classes.
explodes
Edit: Okay my imagination took my to the most tragic part of his character then randomly imagined star boy getting stabbed by this guy and said "now you feel the pain I felt when everyone died" and star boy, in the worst condition says "almost everyone" then gets a another stab from him💀
#some extra notes here#star boy#is completely horrified of magnifico#especially after their first encounter with each other on a personal level#although his character conflict is based around him knowing what it is to be human#and learning that he wants to be human#it also is the pain of being human as well#especially physical pain since he never felt physical pain before since stars dont feel that form of pain since they cant really get hurt#which is why maggy opposes that since he causes physical/emotion pain to others because of his burdens#in a vague sense#he is going to get badly injured at some point#and is not going to take it well at all. this is where asha comes in and comforts him like he has been doing to her this whole time#i'm also trying to make their relationships basically what oh-shtars said about their post on star boy and asha#and I personally agree with their points as well.#its just executing that is pretty hard#disney wish#art tag#art#artwork#wish 2023#star wish#star boy troubles#star boy wish#wish movie#wish star#wishing star#wishverse#queen amaya#king magnifico#magnifico

mvm! maybe poly!maraudeers with a wispy, cute, fae-like reader! mischievous but well meaning, sly and sweet; reader definitely tries to trick one/all into giving their names all the time, so she can keep hardcore courting them and they can belong to each other. its a fae thing, and faes like coveting pretty things :] mainly thinkin abt slyly courting them in ways they absolutely do not notice at first, till like, remus decides to read up and study on fae behaviour, and he has an ‘oh’ moment
cute little tidbits that i love :) - shes notrious for managing to steal away pretty little trinkets, and its well known how much faes love and protect their treasures, so as a courting tactic, she gives (im thinking more along the lines of james) some really pretty blueish seaglass because it matches his eyes! sirius definitely flirts cheesily, saying he can be her treasure/pretty thing, she could steal HIM away, and readers just like.. “thats the plan :]”. another little thought.. she definitely manages to actually, genuinely, physically fluster even sirius sometimes, like, she'll make an offhand comment about like, how cute his babies will be if they get his nose! or his pretty cheekbones! and sirius sits there like :]
okay so we all had a tinkerbell phase as kids right? the animated movies of pixie hollow? well, thats how i imagine reader dresses too, however out of place it may seem - like how adults go disney bounding as their fav character, she`ll do that in public but she still has a very fae-ish outfit and look about her. and i cant begin to tell you how obsessed remus is with this. like, hes got his scars that are usually one of the first things people glue their eyes to, but with you next to him? they focus on the suspiciously authentic bag made of large green leafs, or the numerous flowers braided into your hair constantly, or the way you smell so divine, like lavender and honey, or vanilla and forest wood, or the way your eyes are so captivating that they cant help but feel a pull towards you (fae characteristics <3). on another note, you CANNOT TELL ME that big, sweetheart, ‘sometimes head empty brrrr’ james potter does not stare off into space sometimes, lip between his teeth, eyes glazed over and a bit widened, lazer focused on how your thighs look spilling out of your leaf dress (maybe a dress like tinkerbells - short and earthy and sweet, as a little visual aid :) ) the man just wants to bite, like actually bite the fat and grip your hips with his big hands and let his brain go dead. this phenomenon is made especially apparent when you discover lingerie and how pretty so much of it is!! the sweet lace and the cute cups and theres so. many. designs. you must get opinions all round on every single piece. probably wind up with them all suddenly being marvellously busy though, theyll walk through the door, spot the store bags from victorias secret on the couch, and beeline right back out. they physically just.. cannot. they cant put themselves through that and come out unaffected on the other side.
maybe she gets a bit worried/downtrodden one day and ofc they notice. the issue? “why arent you guys accepting my courting?? am i doing it wrong? its my first time so idk if im doing it right :((“ james definitely was clueless up until this point, no matter how many times both sirius and remus have hinted that shes been doing this, but for some reason, hes the only one who knows how to properly navigate this situation. he, quick as a whip, snags a pair of his old, broken, beaten up glasses and presses em into her hand - an offering, a courting recipricant, a trinket!!! - with the biggest smile on his face. the glasses have so much tape around the middle, one of the legs are hanging off, and the lenses are almost smashed entirely, but one mans trash is another mans treasure :DD readers just like “oh :)) thanks :))”, probably a little breathy and shy but with a beaming smile to match because give the girl a break, its her first time recieving a courting trinket of all things!! its like, the human equivilent of snogging someone before holding their hand!!
i only know little things about fae from stuff ive read in the past, but this is just an interpretation based on common things i can remember about them, if any of it is inaccurate im sorry!
(any time i send any of these little paragraphs in, i dont expect anything in return btw! its mainly just like, emptying the trashcan of thoughts in my head into a space where someone else might enjoy em! like, yk, here u go! read this like its ur a 1950s husband reading the newspaper in the morning! lmao makes no sense but then at least the little imaginations and ideas dont get lost into the world of my brain and someone else can have at em :) )
baby!!! i am not educated enough on fae aus to write one (at least, not yet) so i will be more reacting to this than i am adding to it but let me just tell you that i loved reading it!! i mean it when i say that every time you send something into my inbox i thoroughly enjoy it, i swear you write me your own little fanfictions and they're the highlights of my day no matter who they're about <33333
SGSNDF THEY'D BE SO SMUG IF THEY FOUND OUT THEY WERE 'PRETTY THINGS' TO YOU... they keep all of your little gifts tucked into their pockets except they might need a new home because you're just always giving them more and they can't fit them all in their pockets!!
YES REMUS AND HIS LITTLE FAIRY GF :'))) UGHHH he definitely spoils her with pretty jewelry and things to wear and bags to carry and he'll learn to make flower crowns just for her :'))
SGSDNFNSF YES fashion show!! you twirl around and show off the skimpy little sets you'd bought and everyone needs a very long, intensive cold shower after the fact </33
AWWW JAMES'S GLASSES :')) he blames it on the fact that he's overly sentimental that he even still has them, but he's so glad he never tossed them as he watches your eyes shine and your breath hitch when he presents you with them :') sirius probably gives you a guitar pick of his and remus lets you have a pretty bookmark of his with a little golden tassel on it :')
i want you to know that i fully plan on answering every single ask you send/have sent me, they are always so fantastic and i know i still have a few but i just reread two of them the other day and got all giddy and excited to expand on it so trust me i know there's no pressure but i want to do them anyways!!! seriously you make my day with these they're probably my favorite type of asks to get is like full stories :')) thank you for being so sweet all the time and thank you for sharing your ideas with me!!!!

So... does anyone else get the impression season 3 was a giant middle finger to Disney? Like a whole "Oh, you want to cancel TOH? Fuck you. We are going to give you an ending so bad people are gonna shit on it forever."
While TOH always had an issues in the writing department there's just something about Season 3 that's particularly awful and kind of malicious tbh. Season 3 doesn't feel like there was any care put into it.
So... while I do like Thanks to Them because Hunter/Luz bonding and Caleb/Evelyn=Luz/Hunter tidbits... it's actually really, really bad. There is no logical explanation for why the characters are fucking around for literal months. Philip should know where titan blood can be found as he had SOMEWAY to get to TBI's. He also knew of Calebs and Evelyns relationship - thats why he even went to TBI's to begin with. He wanted to look for Caleb and convince him to come back to the human world. Philip met Evelyn when he and Caleb were teenagers and he was PROBABLY friends with her before he decided to double down on the witch hate.
Another thing: Flapjack did not need to keep quiet about there possibly being a rebus in the house and the existence of rebuses in general FOR MONTHS. He could have said the moment they came to the human realm something like:
"Hey so, Caleb and Philip were friends with a witch named Evelyn for years. There's titan blood hidden around Gravesfield. I know the landscape has changed over the centuries but you can probably find a vial somewhere by using glyphs near the location shown on the rebus. Caleb and Evelyn made maps to titan blood in the form of rebuses because they needed to keep their relationship a secret. This dilapidated house you guys arrived in when you came to the human realm is Calebs house because the doorways fixed location in the human realm is Caleb's house. There's probably a rebus somewhere in the house. If there are no rebuses in the house, I can show you the last known locations of other rebuses."
Because nobody does anything proactive to find a way home UNTIL Amity accidentally steps in the hole in the floor FLAPJACK made while looking for the rebus. Not only did Flapjack not bother to tell Hunter about there being a rebus that leads to titan blood in the house they fixed up and have been using as a base of operations for literal months - none of the characters ever thought to look around the town for some clues that could lead them back to the demon realm. All the characters try to do is build doorways. VEE could have mentioned there was a witch who came to Gravesfield centuries ago, which would have kickstarted their journey around town. Vee knows about the story because of Yesterdays Lie - and they fucking mention Vee's confrontation with Jacob and show us Jacob in Thanks to Them. THERES LITERALLY a whole museum full of rebuses that were dug up around Gravesfield the characters could have gone to. You cant tell me Gus, Amity, Willow and Hunter were too afraid to explore the demon realm as if they weren't literally living in the human realm for months and went on trips during their stay. As if they weren't gungho about exploring the human realm right after finding the rebus. AS IT they didnt have Vee as a reliable guide around town.
There's also no reason for Luz to go back to school when she has to find a way to get everyone back home. Luz going to school is another time waster with no reason to exist.
On top of that Flapjack doesn't tell Hunter a damn thing about Caleb. We dont even get a "Flapjack finds it difficult to talk about Caleb" moment to explain Flapjacks silence. We dont know WHY Flapjack doesnt say anything about Caleb even though Flapjack clearly belonged to Caleb and not Evelyn. He just lets Hunter read these history books about Caleb which might not even be completely accurate because history can be omitted and changed to fit certain narratives. And the stories about The Wittebane brothers and Evelyn are proven to be incorrect because they paint Evelyn as a stereotype AND as the person who killed Caleb.
But yeah, Thanks to Them is alot less enjoyable when you realize ALL of the characters are wasting time for no reason.
#toh critical#like... they are fucking around and wasting time#They should have been trying to find a way back to the demon realm the moment they were forced to leave the demon realm#but no more timeskip teehee haha bs#also WHY did this episode need to take place on Halloween?

im too lazy to put the vpn on to tweet so im gonna tumblr post; talk watch abt the amazing digital circus ep 3 (spoilers ofc) [Edit: i had more thoughts i guess il put it in the replies bc tumblr has those now? maybe itll be more accessible for my twitter generated yapping disorder)
finally some appreciation for my man and favourite character kingler like he goddamn DESERVES. i actually have not enjoyed tadc very much theres so much i rly dislike abt it but its like super well produced and indie so like you watch to be on the loop (i wish it was actually rendered closer to the quality of cd games from the 2000s that it seemed to be referencing but like, it looks how it looks and thats how it is), i rly disliked the script for the mpst part in the first 2 eps but ive loved kingler from day 1 so having an ep with mostly just him and pomni (i have mixed feelings on her too but w/e) was great great great and we had some lore n stuff but rly like i could smell a fellow traumatized man whos a bit wacky to cope from miles away and im glad to be proven Right
sorry im older man fucker so he rly hits all the boxes bc hes actually so sweet and helpful hes just mentally unstable (love him for that) and a lot of his endearing like caring nature comes thru in the physical aspect of the character and with less dialogue, rly the less dialogue the show has the better, idk who does the scripts and i dont wanna diss them but like oof i fucking hate it shkdh like its not like its never funny but its just, off, ive still not been able to properly explain to my wife the way that its off to me, and it bothers me to not be able to cohere those emotions! anyway
kingler so cute so very handsome and uwu so gentle and kind 💖💖💖 i love how gentle he is and good to pomni (ofc ppl are gonna call it fatherly or god forbid grandfatherly when hes like 40, and now if you ship them ppl will say its incesty when theyre two grown adults but w/e) like idk i just love a kind mentally unwell man!!! im simple!!! him just overexposing at the near end in dialogue was rly awkward in the writing like man they just, the dialogue is so not good. but in theory his character is so good and the thing abt the darkness and such was sweet. like hes just always been so endearing and the ep just gives a lot of free real estate kingler screentime to drink with my eyeballs, it doesnt change my opinion on the character at all bc ive always loved him this much
the rest was ok just the typical fare for the most part, like tadc rly often makes me so dissatisfied bc it has so So much potential but the ways it kinda just ends up like a dumbed down typical cartoon is really meh. i do love caine though and more proof that hes a non malicious (although maybe harmfully ignorant) ai. his gags almost land for me if they werent really Really lampshaded, i love how much he cares but is incapable (yet) of improving, i thought it was sweet zooble was so earnest with him. like, the whole tadc def improves the less mean spirited it is, for me. which is hard bc the most favoured character is rancid mean disney purple guy.
gghh why is this show so agdidhsifirh (gestures of anger) like its like, much worse ENA or smth but i know theres more that bothers me abt it than that, and i cant grasp it. im stil in hell irl so i cant cohere a lot in general so w/e, i need to chill and let go. i did like the horror trophy head designs of everyone that i could see (i wanted to get a better look at kinglers but i couldnt find a good frame from watching on my phone) like they were super over the top and fun. i wish the settings they travelled to still felt like, even remotely circusy? they truly feel like just we’re in a different cartoon. but its ok i only hate 749374947493 things abt the shows style choices
i want a framed photo of kingler so i could kiss it. or maybe i could trt to makena plush of him. he is my beloved to hurt/comfort. hes wacky and nice and traumatized and has memory issues and i wuv him
#.talk#tadc#the amazing digital circus#i dont want traction but i figute some ppl might be muting that would appreciate the tagging

A Date To Remember is Next! I’d by lying if I said I wasn’t hoping to get more Dev stuff lolz. Oh no no Dev it looks like it’s a Valentine’s Day show.
Cosmo you are so cute! I love how comfortable he is wearing the princess outfit and I have to say he looks adorable in it.
Aww it’s Hazels parents anniversary and she’s putting on a show for them that is so adorable. Hazel you’re so cute, I hope your parents appreciate how precious you are. Aww Cosmo and Wanda are dancing as well. I’m surprised they didn’t take this opportunity to introduce another Chip Skylark song. It feels like a wasted opportunity. The again Disney refuses to let Powerline have any other songs so this is a common issue it seems. As far as I can remember both Chip and Powerline only have two songs, (My Shiny Teeth and Me and Icky Vicky for Chip and Stand Out and I2I for Powerline (yes that’s how it’s spelled on the official soundtrack) it means nothing besides it’s amusing for me. I kind of want to do a poll of all the Childhood media pop stars and see who is everyone’s favorite that could be fun.
Back to the episode. Wait why aren’t they questioning the lights and fireworks or how a ten year old did that? Maybe they’re just lost in how adorable Hazel is sure. Also I just noticed the masks are Cosmo and Wanda on the stage that is a very cute detail.
Huh they are very chill about not being able to do an anniversary together. It’s healthy to recognize schedules can get crazy and it can’t happen but with how much Hazels mom works I worry it could eventually become a problem. Obviously skipping one anniversary isn’t an issue but if they just stop all together going out that’s potentially a problem.
It is funny Hazel is way more worried about it than they are. Aww Cosmo and Wanda are so cute together I love them so much. HAZEL NOT THE WORD WISH!!!! HAZEL BAD IDEA!!! Cosmo and Wanda you need to be more careful about these wishes. Hazel, trust your gut. Trust it. Also Cosmo, so many wishes have gone very badly. Very very badly. No Hazel no don’t watch them. Yep this went wrong.
Hazel Hazel don’t bring Cupid in this is not smart COSMO AND WANDA WHY WOULD YOU TELL HER THIS AND NOT THAT ITS A BAD IDEA GUYS.
Side note. How does fairy aging work? Cupid and Jorgan look way older but Cosmo and Wanda don’t. We know they went on a ten thousand year vacation uh somehow so they would realistically age some right? But they haven’t while other have and I’m just very confused on this.
Sorry I keep getting distracted tonight. Uhh Cupid? This is evil. What happens to Hazel if her parents don’t fall in love???? ARE YOU REALLY GOING TO ORPHAN A CHILD??? Really???!!!??
But for real does Cupid pair up literally every couple in existence? Does he only decide who falls in love does no one ever fall in love by chance? The logistics are confusing.
Lolz bad lie Hazel but your dad is enough of a nerd for paranormal stuff he rolls with it which uh is a good thing for Hazel lolz.
That’s not a very good painting lolz but at least she’s into it. Good thing Hazel has her dad on her side lolz. Lolz and Cosmo and Wanda helping is helping a lot lolz.
Cosmo is that cheating lolz. Maybe but uh Cupid has an unfair advantage. How do the points work? How do you quantify falling in love with someone? How does Brewster go from like 93 points to 339 points? Thats an unrealistic jump. Wait seriously what happens to Hazel? Does she just cease to exist????
Wait giving her the honor? What the fuck dude? Thats not romantic at all. Even if Marcus didn’t break out the goofy moves I would hope she wouldn’t date him.
I love that she loves his goofy personality. Lolz a mirror makes him get over his heartbreak? Yeah he’s so self absorbed. Cupid you’re so annoying. But there is truth in people too alike would drive each other crazy. But seriously Cupid what was the plan with Hazel? I’m worried about that.
They think it’s a puppet show? I mean. Sure why not. Magic whatever lolz.
Overall it was a cute episode. I did get a glimpse of the next episode and it’s Lost in Fairyworld and I know Dev is back and I am so excited!!!!

ok fine let's talk about how the Loki tv show made him straight & how that's basically why hes so different in the show. an essay which will probably go on longer than i want it to.
ok, swooping claim right off the bat: Loki is a queer coded villain in the first two Thor movies and in The Avengers (2012). idk how widely accepted this is, but it's absolutely true. and they didn't only pick up the good tropes. Loki is very effeminate in looks (long hair (well actually they all do in the thor movies), that outfit is just a dress lets be honest, very skinny. absolute skin and bones, no muscle). shown as much more cowardly than the manlyTM Thor, instead of using brute force relying on tricks. the flamboyant speeches. being self-centered. no confirmed girlfriends nor romantic/sexual relationships of any kind. also the obsession with his mother, which was just a thing from the hays code era when ppl just assumed all gay men were obsessed with their mothers. there's a reason queer coded villains are a tad problematic. But Loki falls under so many of these accepted tropes. this article I have opened in parallel about what makes a villain queer coded lists him TWICE in the examples. in the movies, he's gay. he's a gay disney villain.
however, the Loki tv show needed to make him a protagonist. especially if they're airlifting 2012 Loki out of the narrative, they're going to need to speedrun some character development FAST. of course, that means you need to ditch his villain traits immediately (remember we only have 6 episodes and we have to cram in a recap, two intros and an outro into each of them). however, in the original movies, a large part of his villain-ness is so heavily entangled with his queerness. at this point there were two choices: disentangle the queerness from the villain-ness, keeping him queer but making his flamboyancy, tricks and effeminacy a part of his new protagonist characterization. which i would have fucking loved. lets be honest everyone wants the queer coded villain to be the main character. but that would require innovation and you're not allowed that at marvel. careful!! you almost took a risk there!! so instead of subverting the queer coded villain trope with a relatively innovative idea, they just chucked everything in the trash. seriously, rewatch the first episode, and see how quickly they try to subvert every single last thing on the list. in the first MINUTES they take away his magic so he can no longer rely on tricks, they strip him of his effeminate clothes (showing off that he now has chiselled masculine manly male abs) and replace them with a collared shirt and tie. they have him realise that he's self obsessed, and have him be like "ohhh im going to get better its bad that im narcisisstic im self conscious now". also, they introduce Sylvie, and absolutely use her to point out how 100% straight he is. when sylvie is on screen they make a big deal about how SHES THE FEMALE LOKI!! SHES A GIRL AND HES A BOY AND THEYRE DIFFERENT BECAUSE OF THAT!! taking away any gender ambiguity. idk why they do this with such a passion but they LOOOOVE pointing out that Loki is a guy in this show. and then they speedrun putting him in a romantic relationship with her.
and there's no argument to be made about making him canonically queer, because what they did is so painfully token its not even funny. they casually drop that he is bi, and it is never acknowledged again. ever. just a casual "a bit of both". four words. thats it. they could have very easily elaborated on this, because there's so many gaps to be filled here: what is it like being queer on asgard?? is it the future the woke left TM wants, or is there stigma around it? if there is stigma, how did that contribute to his whole thing of feeling like an outsider? what about jotunheim? does his family know? you're building an universe here. elaborate on it. maybe you don't need graphic gay sex on screen, but there is a middle ground here. and boy are they far from it. because not only do they not elaborate on it, but by this point they have drained all the queerness out of him. they made him the most cishet-acceptableTM gay they could. this is to an extent personal taste but i really dont like it when movies do that. please, let them actually embody queer culture. let him have some fashion sense, some mannerisms, SOMETHING, which shows that he's outwardly queer. queer coded villains do somewhat come from a time of homophobia, but that does not mean you can't try to reclaim it. Loki could have stayed androgynous and ambiguously bi/gay/aro?. or you could have just made that canon, and kept him how he was. I'm not saying avoid character development, but this was too fast and incredibly unnatural.
anyways in conclusion they fucked up and this was the fakest gay representation i have seen in a while. and that's not even TOUCHING on the frankly disgusting amounts of queerbaiting going on between him and Mobius like dude come on is it 2014 or 2024
#//sayings of har#//yggdrasil's specialest they#//htdg. odinson#loki series critical#loki series negativity#just making sure this post is filterable#i think the show is bad but that doesn't mean that i should ruin the fun for others#because thats stupid and annoying#hence why i never really tag my posts with loki series

I'm gonna preface this by saying I have no problem with representation. I love queer stories, especially when they're organic and natural. I'm bi, and I've had fulfilling relationships with women as well as men. Honestly, I would love a spin-off on Brimsley and Reynolds. It didn't feel.....forced. the characters were new and their story grew organically. Michaela? No. I'm trying to articulate how I feel without sounding like I hate the queer community because I genuinely don't. I appreciated Benedict's story line even if it was a little jarring. He's exploring, experimenting and that's fine. It still doesn't take away from his story. But the introduction of Michaela felt like a guy punch. It felt wrong. I've never particularly like gender swapping in stories based on an original IP, because it changes a lot of dynamics. It changes a lot of story lines. And yes, it's fiction, but I'm sorry I cannot get over it, especially when it's such a blatant case of pandering. It makes me feel as if I'm wrong to question this change and I've somehow internalised homophobia. If so, then why wouldn't I hate other queer characters or be similarly uncomfortable?
Okay I think I can make my argument clear with an example. If anyone has seen the movie Love Lies Bleeding, I think they'll get it. The sexual orientation of the characters didn't matter. It felt right. And it was not important to the story. It was just an established dynamic and we could enjoy the plot easily. It wouldn't have mattered if it was a heterosexual couple or a homosexual couple, the story is largely unchanged. If Michael becomes Michaela, here's the issues I see. Who inherits Kilmartin. We've already established an estate will go to the next male heir if the current owner dies. A major part of Michael's story was his guilt over his inheritance and his imposter syndrome. His story arc taking his place in parliament. It's all gone. I mean, I know the show isn't interested in the plots other than the main character pairing but this felt so wrong. If they wanted a lesbian lead, the just make another show with original characters why force this? I'm not looking forward to Francescas season at all. I'm sure a lot of people will like it and that's their prerogative but for me, personally, the only thing keeping the story moving forward is Benedict. Maybe Eloise. But I feel like the story of the show has lost its charm and has dug itself into a hole like Disney or marvel
I can see why you feel that way, for me its kinda like that but more so how they went about it.
I dont mind the gender swap but hate the way they went about it, diminishing the relationship francesca has with lord killmartin when they spent all season saying to violet and us how love stories are different but that doesnt mean theyre not as good but then go and do exactly the opposite??? I think if instead of francesca michaela reacted the way fran did then it would be less jarring because at the end of it its the same dynamic, but making fran react like that after just getting married means she doesnt really love lord killmartin as much as she told her mom and thats a problem.
Also i think the problem with the gender swap its that it doesnt really work with the overall story of francesca haha like if they wanted to gender swap one character there was sophie or maybe try that change with eloises story, you know, stories were someone getting pregnant isnt necessary.
I do believe bridgerton has lost some of the aspects that made it so good, the production feels cheaper and the writing too modern and simple, it feels like another show but even if im not that excited as before i know im gonna keep watching so 😐

Disclaimer: I love this film. These are just my critics. I know someone else has already pointed these issues out and better than I ever could. Just wanted to get my thoughts out. Feel free to link their analysis
Post Disclaimer Disclaimer: A lot of these may be petty and have no real solution so I apologize preemptively.
Without further ado here is an aging millennial’s concerns with: The Lion King (1994)
Small nitpicks first
Incest
Usually lion prides have a single adult male that mates with all the females but in this case there are two, Mufasa and Scar, meaning, that at best Simba and Nala are first cousins and at worst siblings, getting married and having children.
On the flip side there is nothing more royal than keeping it all in the family.
Say his name
What is Scar’s real name? I know it can probably be found somewhere but i think it’s pretty messed up it’s never said in the movie. Also making someone’s physical feature their name is rude. Its like calling someone Hairy, Big Nose, or Six-Fingered Man.
Sexiest Lion
From what I remember learning about lions, the males with darker manes are seen as more attractive. So why is my man Scar not getting hole? I know its a kids movie but could we at least see a couple dark furred cubs running about? (I know about Kovu)
Choice of voice actors
Why are all the good characters voiced by white people? (Exceptions for James and Madge) and all the bad guys are POC? And its some extra ish when only the lackeys are POC. The big bad is white. Colored folk can’t even be their own boss.
And i know the remake “fixed” this but we’re not talking about the new woke Disney.
Now the real gripes
Monarchy and leadership
While the idea of a hereditary monarchy is bad enough the main plot strongly implies divine right is just and desirable.
Mufasa is supposed to be king and this is reflected by the kingdom being pristine and in balance.
Scar, who is not ordained by the sky daddies, takes the throne and all falls to ruin.
Then the “rightful king” returns, restoring prosperity to the land.
It gives credence to the idea that a higher power has to approve of a leader for things to go right. That those in power are there because that is how it’s supposed to be.
Look, little one. See what happens when you try to break the status quo? Bad things happen. Be happy with your lot in life.
If you try to rise above your station like Scar, well. You saw what happened. (I know Scar murdered fools but you get my drift)
“But Razz” I hear you say. “The reason things went bad is because Scar had the hyenas live in the pride lands and they ate everything. Those slobbering mangy stupid poachers!”
Aha! I say. You activated my trap card.
US History as a Metaphor
I think its safe to say that the hyenas are coded as POC. As such the idea of their integration into the pride lands being the catalyst for its blight is troubling.
It harkens back to the fear of the negro moving into cities during white flight. Hyenas/blacks move in and everything goes to shit.
Thats why we keep them in their elephant graveyards and shadow lands (the ghettos) so the blight doesn’t spread.
And if one of the hyenas do come into the pride lands we send our strong alpha Mufasa to beat and brutalize them.
Also the hyenas are painted as gluttons for wanting to eat. THEY WERE IN A LITERAL GRAVEYARD.
Of course they’re hungry. Of course they’d want to eat everything they could. They were forced to live that way.
Now lets draw a line.
Hyenas are always hungry because they live in a food desert and actual desert.
They live there because of enforced segregation by the lions.
Lions who then blame the the hyenas for being hungry and use that as justification to continue segregation and harsh policing of the hyenas movements.
Sounds familiar.
And the film’s solution to all this is a return to the status quo. Yuck.
Not to mention the sequel where there’s a reconciliation between the lionesses who supported Scar and the pridelanders because Kiara says “We’re the same”. I know I’m probably grasping a straws here but that moment felt like the Irish and Italians gaining whiteness.
Ok rant over.

For 👏🏼 The 👏🏼 Future
Okay, first of all, a good friend of mine recommended (and by that I mean bugged me until I caved) to watch the Owl House, and I half wished that they hadn’t. I now have a constant feeling of frustration and hatred toward Disney for canceling the show. Anyway…
Well, I’m here so might as well make the best of it. Random voice-acting bits that I ADORED: At the very beginning when King said, “goodbye” after the door exploded, and right after that when the Collector said, “I’m free, I’m free! I haven’t felt this good in forever and ever! It’s like the whole world is singing!” It’s just *chef’s kiss*
Also when Camila screamed after sitting down on the ground-eyeballs. It sounded so authentic and throat-ripping! (Should I be happy about that?)
Obviously there’s a lot more than that but I don’t feel like typing it out. Okay, but one more thing: I first watched it when I had by earbuds in, and I almost threw up when I heard Belos slooching and slawching around. It was disgusting and amazing.
I didn’t know that Huntlow was kind of a love-or-hate kind of thing in the fandom. I personally…llliiiiikkkeeeeee it. I get that Willow was one of the first people to show Hunter kindness and I love both of their characters but I just can’t get into it. Of course all characters and relationships are going to be rushed but at least Lumity had some semblance of development. Ugh, not their fault.
Eda and Lilith’s new hairstyles = yes. Raine’s new mullet = yes even though Belos is now currently eating away at their flesh.
I would feel bad that Odalia is a servant to the Collector but…it’s Odalia. Come now, let’s be real here.
Okay, I’ve seen numerous fanarts of how Flapjack’s powers could manifest in Hunter, and I love his teleportation ability but…red wings. RED WINGS PEOPLE!! *cough* anyway
Let’s address the elephant in the room. No, not Liz’s palisman. No, not Willow’s emotional scenes. No, not the Collector being a lonely, abandoned little guy. *deep intake of breath* MATT THOLOMULE PEOPLE WHAT THE SHI-
I will never spell it “Mat Tholomule.” Never. Steve is one of my favorite characters (he’s like my…sixth favorite), and I really want some scenes with him and Matty since they’re half-brothers and we were robbed of their backstory but it’s probably not important enough to include in the last episode. Steve Tholomule…
I adore Luz’s palisman, though I like the egg’s color scheme more. Hey, I’m not complaining though. I just have one problem…Stringbean brings up bad memories of expired baked beans that had been left in the sun too long. No hate, duh. Her lil’ kitten ears are so cute!
Boscha is a simp for Amity…
Kikimora isn’t dead…
My predictions for the last episode (*distant sobbing*): Raine is going to die, but the Collector is going to revive them. The dude has Belos eating away at them, and they doesn’t have a Flapjack. (…is that grammar?)
Owlbert, Lilith’s palisman, and the Bat Queen are going to fight for the Boiling Isles!! They’re nowhere to be seen, and they’re way too important to leave out.
The Collector and King are going to team up against Belos in a fight of Gods!! And the only way for the good guys to prevail will be the Owl Crew!
Caleb will talk and his voice will be Hunter’s. Maybe if/when Belos dies all the Golden Guards of the past and Caleb will come to thank Hunter or Caleb talks to Belos as he’s dying.
Belos will go berserk against Eda since with her new hairstyle, she’s the spitting image of Evelyn.
There will be a lot of crying involved, both for the characters and the audience.
My hopes and dreams:
Steve and Matt scene! (Highly unlikely)
Stringbean being OP as crap and using her snakeshifting ability in battle by stinging as a scorpion, blowing flames as a dragon, and flying as a bat. (Pretty likely)
A “some years in the future” scene/ a flash forward scene. (Dear GOD I HOPE SO)
okay thats it *owl house voice* byeeeeeeeeeeee

hey i cant remember your DID blog, im sorry, idm if you answer over there if you tag me.
to start with, i have professionally diagnosed DID and have been dx'd 3 separate times, and i have something i guess i want validation for?
since i was itty bitty i was reading greek mythology, like children's versions (i could read very early - "gifted" kid) at 3-5 and it has always very much been a huge running theme in my life, well i have a lot of religious greek alters.
it makes sense that.. reading about these figures, watching movies like disneys Hercules and stuff especially while experiencing consistent trauma that i would develop these alters with my brain viewing them as powerful and comforting?
and as an adult i have developed a bit of spirituality with them, a deeply, deeply personal relationship and devotion to deific alters formed to protect and care for me
i recently had a whole issue with a friend who told me my perception of the gods were "wrong" and that they could communicate with them for me. that the gods could only visit one person at a time. and it fucked me up so bad even though i knew they were wrong. they traumatized my whole system
because the things i communicate with aren't just the gods, they dont even claim to be the real gods nor speak for them, just "real to the andromeda system". no one can communicate with my version of them because they are *alters* and my perception is based in trauma and my needs at the time of formation
i feel fakey and i generally avoid even mentioning the religious alters to therapists because i dont want to come across as attention seeking. my experience is valid right?
in terms of clarsenses.. maybe thats a part of it too? idk but these guys are inherently different from say. the spirit of the trees. idk its complicated, they can front and care for me and have a place in my headspace. i notice i get some gifts like i asked hermes to help us get the car we wanted since ours is breaking, and we're getting an even better version. i dont understand fully, i just know my experience is different and deeply personal and relevant to my trauma and DID.
last thing; i do have other alters unrelated to the greek pantheon that interact with them in the headspace. ones that are more "normal" i guess like child alters and trauma holders/persecuters and regular protectors (many of the greek ones are protecters/caregivers/managers. a small few hold trauma - like Hera holds the trauma i witnessed my mom go thru and she is a caregiver. some front. some are internal.) i guess im seeking an explanation from someone in a similar position? in terms of being spiritual with a dissociative disorder. especially considering i do feel like i receive gifts from them in the real world im just confused about myself and experiences which feel incredibly complex. it feels like my experiences go hand in hand with each other!
I'll say what I always say in these situations:
It's not a question of "valid" or "invalid," it's a question of what something is. Our feelings are always valid, but that has nothing to do with whether we're accurately interpreting them or not. Discernment is what's important, and as frustrating as it is, no one can really do that work other than you.
I can't even offer much in the way of perspective, to be honest. Despite the fact you and I are in similar positions, my experiences with dissociation and clairsenses are totally different. None of my alters take the form of deities, for one thing, but I've also never had trouble differentiating my alters from deities.
My advice would be to just give it time. Spiritual exploration is full of heavy lifting, and it's something we just work our way through over the course of time.
(Also my brain blog is @prefrontal-bastard, if you ever have questions in the future.)

Disney Month :Talespin: Plunder and Lightning
for this 18th installment of Disney month we are gonna look at the 4 part pilot to one of the most unusal yet beloved spin offs ever ,Talespin
In this group of 1990 TV episodes,Baloo (Ed Gilbert) is a lazy pilot who has lost his business to a businesswoman Rebecca Cunningham(Sally Struthers),but with the help of an orphan Kit Cloudkicker (RJ Williams) ,plans to buy back the business with a stone that is being pursued both by ruthless business man Shere Khan (Tony Jay ) and sky pirate Don Karnage(Jim Cummings )
Soooooo the premise of this show is....Friggin weird. It is a spin off of the Disney classic Jungle Book....But not really ,cause it doesnt take place in India ,the animals are fully anthropomorphic, and it only uses three characters from the Jungle Book:Baloo the Bear ,Shere Khan the Tiger and Louie the Orangutan .It then places these characters in this action adventure series with planes and pirates ....This is a weird mix of things.....And looking into it....Thats cause this was a last minute pitch ,the creators were struggling to think of a show,Jungle Book was rereleased so they wanted to do somthing with Baloo and combined it with a hodge podge of other influences like the TV shows Tales of the Gold Monkey ,the manga Hikotei Jedai, the classic film Casablanca and of all things the hit TV show Cheers with the character of Rebecca .BAsically the creators threw a bunch of stuff they like in a blender and combined it.....Considering that is similar to my own creative process ,I respect this alot .It paid off cause this show was a hit and is considered a cartoon classic
As for my own relationship to the show,I loved this show as a kid.Now admittedly it has been a long time since I have seen it and all I remebered was Baloo was a pilot,Shere Khan was a businessman and there were sky pirate and I dont know if I ever saw the pilot so I went into this semi blind ......I kind of love this show and I mi9ght watch more
As a spin off,I maintain on the surface this is weird...But it does work cause while the setting has changed ,the characters are mostly in tact .Yeah Louie has been transformed entirerly into a good guy and at least in these episodes Khan has lost his sadistic playfulness ,but Louie is still loads of fun and Shere Khan is still a feared intimidating character, and I like the roles they have been placed in ,Louie is well suited to be the laid back bartender , and I get kind of a kick out of the ruthless apex predator being made into a cutthroat capitalist .I was a little bummed Khan didnt have much to do in these episodes ,but hey this is setting up the premise and we already have another villain I will talk about later . Baloo is completely in character ,even though he is now a pilot,he is still the slacker papa bear with a heart of gold and I like that the at least these episodes focus on the dad quality of Baloo.WE dont have Mowgli here,so the father and son relationship is between Baloo and Kit ,and they have an adorable father son dynamic .Also Baloo weirdly transitions well into being a reluctant action hero .Also I must praise the cast for the Jungle Book characters cause they are alll really good.Jim Cummings does a very good Louis Prima impression as King Louie (SO good it caused some legal kerfuffles ) ,Tony Jay voice is eerily simlar to George Sanders that it borders on spooky and I am glad that for over a decade he became the official voice of Shere Khan in Jungle Book material ,but the big praise has to go to Ed Gilbert ,who listened to recording to Phil Harris and practicved for hours to get it right and was a perfect sucessor to Harris (Now Harris was alive when Talespin was in production, and they used him initially , but he was 85 ,he had lost some of his comedic timing, they couldnt afford to cheffuer him to the studio ,and they realized that he couldnt do a full 65 episode series ,so replaced him with Gilbert which I think was a good call as much as I wouldve loved to have heard him play Baloo on more time )
The new characters are decent ,I'm not a fan of Wildcat, who is Baloos mechanic , but he isnt in these episodes a lot .Molly,Rebeccas young daughter is a bit of a Scrappy for fans but I thought she was OK .REbecca I thought might be annoying but I thought she is a good foil for Baloo .Of the new heroes my favorite is Kit ,whohas a good dynamic with Baloo and an actually very fascinating back story
However the BEST character is theshows main villain,Don Karnage ....Who might be one of the greatest cartoon villains ever ,and I am tempted to watch ALL his episodes .A wolf air pirate ,who is both an intimidating threat due to how cunning he is while still being incredibly funny , due to his very flamboyant egocentric personality .Jim Cummmings, who is doing of all things ,a Desi Arnez impression ,and it is one of the funniest performances I have ever heard in animation .Also he gets a villain song and it is delightful
Animation, like all animation back then, depended on the episode.First and third episode have some great animation .Character designs in general are solid ,and the action and comedy are really good
My only complaint is part of me wishes they used mor Jungle Book characters (Maybe have Kaa as a recurring villain or Bagheera as a supporting character ) but hey thats what fanfics are fore
I think this 4 parter sets up the series well ,and I definately wanna watch more .Good set of episodes

think i mentioned this before but i am so happy that kids now hv positive queer media
like for me the first queer person i saw on tv was prob cyrus from andi mack and that was like one of (if not) the first openly queer person in a disney channel show
and back then cuz that was the only openly queer media i had i was honestly confused but yk inference skills and at this time i was prob like just younger than my sister is now
(ngl when cyrus first said “i like jonah” (like the guy at the school) i was like “doesn’t everyone??”)
then obviously when it came to my personal self discovery it was/has been very hard to find the right words for how i feel bc of the communities i’m in irl
like when it came to gender i was so confused for so long and i remember finding the term that fit me and just smiling so hard my cheeks hurt for the next hr or so (i’ve realized not that i’m not so comfy with that term but wtv)
even now i’ve had some issues with being bi cuz of my very little interest in masculinity and just recently thats to this place i’ve found (at least rn) security in my sexual and romantic orientation
now compare that to my younger sister
she has all this queer media around her and has come out to me at such a young age
like she is so good abt peoples pronouns and will point out gender queer representation when she sees it
ex. 1 watching zombies 3 cuz why not and theres a non binary character cuz yk aliens or smth and my dad walks into the living room and a character goes “…they…” and my sister goes “DADDY DID U HEAR THAT THEY” or smth
ex. 2 she got a plant as like a give away thing and she comes up to me and my friends and goes “this is @&£]*% thye use they them pronouns” and yes it’s a plant but yk the lorax spoke for the trees we’re gonna go with it
and she’ll watch shows with queer people (mostly cuz i watch shows with queer people) and join me in the shipping or wtv and just be wholly and completely fine and understand this
that goes to show that if kids hv these resources they will understand it i didn’t grow up with this up she has
⚠️tw mentions of homophobia and religion⚠️
now a bit more serious but
my sisters queer is into queer media and yk knows of queer music
and if u know toh (the owl house) u know that early on in the show a character in the show was very much associated with the song little miss perfect so i showed it to her (and obvi ordinary when it came out)
now at one of the first days of school that year she told her class at our catholic school her favorite songs were little miss perfect and ordinary
at this time she didn’t know abt homophobia and i am so glad for it but obvi very religous school with tons of parents who hv more rightist views so i tried to explain to her infront of our parents that there were tons of people who didn’t like queer people at school
it absolutely sucked telling my sister that she had to hide who she is bc some people suck
⚠️tw stuff done with⚠️
this is all to say that for the next generation, can we pls make so that they don’t hv to hide who they r for their own safety can we pls make things like being queer more out there so people don’t hv to look everywhere for a place that fits them
for the next generation can we pls make the difference

hey do you know that post that is like "evil infodumping where you just tell lies" "older brother"? well that reminded me of an idea i had the other day
but since the Son family lives in the middle of el campo yknow i got thinking that they might believe on this one folklore leyend "la luz mala" (the evil light) that tbh just spawns in the forest and honestly older people use it to make little kids not go into the forest alone so i think Chichi would have told that to both Gohan and Goten
And whereas Gohan found out it was fake the second Piccolo threw him in the middle of fucking nowhere? I feel like Goten still believes it simply because he never got the explanation of why la luz mala happens and he hasn't gone to the forest alone because he listens to his mom you know, Gohan has tried to explain it to him once or twice but he doesn't think their mom would be too happy with that so he doesn't outright tell him;
Like he tries to give hints into the thought process that it's not real but Goten doesn't catch them and Gohan doesn't try anymore because at least his brother isn't going into the forest at night alone idk.. In the end it's not like he lives like that all his life he eventually finds out it's just a legend but he does live most of his childhood or teenage years believing that there is fucking spirits in the forest until idk Trunks gives him the scientific explanation on why lights spawn in the forest to make himself look smarter and then he goes to Gohan and Gohan is like "He's right and i've been trying to tell you most of my life" and Goten is like that picture at the end of the comic of the guy that wakes up from the dental surgery anesthesia and tries to fit his own fist in his mouth as fast as possible and then looks so distressed when they stop him
But i mentioned the evil infodumping older brother thing because the second Trunks finds out he's going to try to make Bulla believe it, not for any noble reasons he's just messing with her, and i feel like that would be hard to do but he could pull it off if he was feeling mischievous enough at the time, like going to "DAD HOW DO I MAKE AN ARTIFICIAL MOON" extremes, but it only works if he's a kid i don't think teenage Trunks has the energy to do that, if he was a teenager he would tell her "It's real, i've seen it, Goten too, ask him" and exudes the confidence he does that could make you believe that a jellyfish is 90% piss if he told you that (real thing i did to my internet friends btw i dont think any of them fact checked it until i told them it was fake a year later)
also about Gohan again: future Gohan would tell future Trunks about it so he doesn't go into the forests alone to train or something at night because he can't watch him or defend him in case anything happens to him just like Chichi told him so he wouldn't get hurt when he was a kid, so future Trunks believes in la luz mala until he gets older and maybe when he goes to the past he talks to present Gohan about it and Gohan tells him how "Yeah it's not real but my mom didn't want me going into the forest alone in case i got hurt" and it actually sinks in and he realizes that's also one of the many ways Gohan tried to protect him back when he was alive, and that worked even beyond that because Trunks didn't go into forests at night again did he?? (he goes in the day time and maybe he pets some animals like a disney princess but not at night, maybe he grows out of the habit once his timeline is at peace and he looks at the stars because they're pretty and who doesn't like stars)
and maybe he doesn't cry about it once he knows and remembers the man who practically raised him alongside his mother and that he's admired for most of his life but maybe he just does a little sad slightly shocked face and thinks about it while looking down at the ground because he looks like does that a lot for some reason
its 3 am i should go to bed uhh thats a @yu7i moment, saludos desde argentina
I do not know that infodump post but I can extrapolate details + the joke so we're all good
THIS . IS SO . REAL!!!!
I don't know the anesthesia post either but again it all makes sense anyway
Maybe all of my lovely followers know those posts in question so maybe they love this post as well
Goten is like NO SPIRITS? like the megamind NO BITCHES? meme.. IT'S A LONELY WORLD OUT THERE when there are NO SPIRITS TO WATCH YOU HURRY OUT OF THE WOODS AT DUSK ..!!
Astute comparison between kid Trunks and teen Trunks .. I never would have cared to think it ... as a kid he has fun going sooo far for a prank but as a teen he has the ability to just sound so completely legitimate in one sentence that he doesn't need a whole set-up, and he would rather not have to put the time in anyway ....
So true about Future Trunks . . . . that is a bittersweet and profound experience unique to him . The other dragon ball guys don't get that . And when Trunks was young, he thought that Gohan was old, because that's how kids think. But now that he's 17 he realizes that Gohan was not that old, but he still did so much for Trunks .. and he had the tact to get Trunks to not go into the dangerous woods at night by using the same trick his mother had used on him .. if Trunks had a child that he had to be responsible for in his life then he would use the same trick now. And thats sort of completely beautoufl . Beuaotufl. Sorry. Beuaotuifl. Beautiful
Thank you for sharing as always

Ok, yes, I hear what you're saying, and everything you're saying is correct, except for one thing
Disney actually HAS done a redemption arc for two of their villains
(Two long rants under the cut)
Te Kā
When she was Te Fiti, she was a Goddess, she created life itself, she shared her gift with the world that she loved
But people got greedy
Specifically Maui
Now remember, Maui is a demigod, and the reason for that being is that the gods gave him their sympathy, Te Fiti is a goddess, she was probably a part of giving Maui his powers
And he stole her heart in thanks
Thats betrayal at its finest, she didn't do anything wrong, she was giving the humans life, and she was betrayed, not only by a demigod who claims to be a hero, but also the people who wanted the heart in the first place
So she lashed out, Te fiti could no longer give life, so Te Kā gave darkness and death
All Maui wanted was the approval of the people
All Moana wanted was to save her island and make her people proud
All the Chief wanted was for his people, and Moana, to be safe
All Te Kā wanted was her heart back
And she did, she got her heart back
This is one of the few movies where the hero and the villain wanted the same thing
And that's why she was redeemed, they both got what they wanted, the heart was back where it belonged, and all it took was for Moana to remind her that she's Te Fiti, not Te Kā
If thats not a good example, then what about Megara?
Ok wAIT I KNOW SHES TECHNICALLY NOT A VILLAIN BUT HEAR ME OUT!
She had a boyfriend, she loved so much that when he died, she sold her soul to hades to have him back, only for him to then leave her for another woman
From then on everything she did, she did for Hades, she had no choice, it wasn't right but she didn't have a choice
And then she met Hercules, the only man that showed her respect, that truly loved her, and she loved him back
But because of Hades, he realizes the truth about her, that she been helping the bad guys this whole time, and despite being mad at her for this, Hercules loves Meg enough to give up his powers to save her
And the guilt eats her up, she loves him and he's out there sacrificing himself to save people
So she sacrifices herself for him
This was the moment where she redeemed herself
And when she was saved, she was free from Hades grasp, and she was with Hercules
She was now free to be the good person she always wanted to be
I just watched Wish (2023) and it made me realize something kind of sad about Disney’s treatment of villains.
So Disney has a long history of villainy from the OG Evil Queen who is willing to murder a girl just for being pretty to the misguided like Auto thinking he’s protecting humanity in Wall-E. They are mean, jealous, prideful, vain, and many relish in just being the worst of the worst. However every now and then we get a glimpse of more complexity. Zootopia’s Bellwether dealing with years of racism and mistreatment, Gantu trying to stop what he thinks is a monster in Lilo and Stitch, Up’s Muntz being a heroic explorer before paranoia consumed him, etc. The thing that makes me sad about these villains is that not one of them has ever had a chance at redemption or change in Disney’s eyes and nowhere is that sadder to me than their latest villain, King Magnifico.
(Spoilers below)
King Magnifico is the magical founder of a utopian society that accepts people of all races, religions, and backgrounds. Who created this wonderful place after what is heavily implied to be a violent invasion destroyed his homeland when he was but a child. This past trauma led him to study magic and become a powerful sorcerer so that nothing could hurt him or the people he cared about ever again. His magic is a protection that he extends to all who choose to live in the city. The city is vibrant with a colorful community full of artisans, musicians, and dancers. He takes no taxes from them, but does take their one true wish upon joining this society.
When given these wishes it is understood that he will ensure their safety and possibly grant them one day. Something important to note about the physical manifestations of the wishes is that they give off a warm and comforting aura as they represent some of the purest parts of a person’s soul. Magnifico has been surrounding himself with this magical comfort for a very very long time by himself and I don’t think it’s unfair to say he has become addicted to their presence. The wishes are giving him a magical comfort through the kind souls within them, a feeling he could’ve probably also gotten if he had spent more time with his people.
It doesn’t look like he ever really got the chance to commune with his people properly because somehow the society kicked off on his wish granting abilities. People had to give him their wishes if they wanted them granted and eventually the ones that he couldn’t grant in good conscience or out of fear started adding up so he began locking them away. Keeping them safe so no harm came to the people. The rare occasions that anyone else interacts with these wishes is during wish granting ceremonies that the people are borderline rabid for. With good reason, it is their souls they’re thirsting for after all even if they don’t really know it.
However, Magnifico clearly doesn’t see it that way. He sees it as he’s given these people a wonderful safe haven from the horrors of the outside world where they can be whoever they want to be, do what they want to do, make what they want to make, and still all they see in him is a tool to fastpass to something else they want even more than the peace he’s given them.
This is clearly shown early on, before any of his evil behavior starts to take root, in relation to his assistants. We get a expo dump after the first song telling us that Asha wants to become one of his assistant to increase the odds of her grandfather’s wish being granted as there is a correlation between past assistants and having wishes granted. Something important here is that there have clearly been many assistants, suggesting that it’s a revolving door position without really explaining why. Who would want to keep finding assistants over and over again, when really you should find someone who could do the job long term right? Well we get to find out the likely reason when Asha steps up for the role.
When Asha comes to interview for his assistant position he sees she is nervous, he tries to calm her down, and he even manages to relate to her through fond memories of her kindly father who he clearly knew. After seeing her true resolve to do good he decides to trust her with something few people in the entire kingdom get to see, the vault of wishes. To which Asha doesn’t even hesitate to ask, after politely being told not to prior, if he’ll grant her grandfather’s wish.
Magnifico is blatantly stricken by her request, sadly remarking that most people at least wait a few months before doing so a.k.a pretend to be interested in helping him rather than trying to use him to grant a wish. This is likely why the assistant job is a revolving door. Magnifico tries to find someone who he thinks will truly and selflessly fulfill the role only to discover time and again that people are just using it to get direct access to him to ask for a wish. Then he can’t trust their true intentions anymore and moves them along.
After Asha makes her request he does take the time to look at her grandfather’s wish but dismisses it as too dangerous because it is the vague desire to inspire the next generation. Clearly we as the audience know that her grandfather means to inspire them to do good, but we have to remember Magnifico has seen the worst of society. He has seen the darkest wishes and desires of mankind and survived them. He brushes Asha off telling her she’s too young to understand, which is honestly true. She’s lived her entire life cloistered in peace and comfort thanks to him and the rules he has made. She has never had to know war, strife, or hardship thanks to him, yet she doubts his decision without understanding the trauma that guides it. This is what I believe pushes Magnifico into his villain arc, something that I don’t think we’ve ever really witnessed in a Disney movie.
Usually a villain already is the villain by the time the film rolls around, even the twist villains. Lotso had already been deliberately sentencing other toys to torture. Prince Hans was already planning to murder his way to a throne. Evelyn was already plotting her revenge. Magnifico wasn’t though. He was the hero. He had saved his wife and a whole city’s worth of people from whatever drove them from the mainlands. He wasn’t physically abusing/mistreating people like Gaston even if he was vainly basking in their adoration.
When Asha pushes him on the wishes he pulls back from her, identifying her in his mind as a threat and treats her as one. He dismisses her and tells her that her family’s wishes will never be granted by him, but he will still keep them safe as he has been doing. Essentially meaning nothing will change for her from what it has been. You know a happy loving existence of complete acceptance and wholesome family life or as Asha interprets it, a fate worse than death.
His interaction with Asha triggers him, as she’s pushed at the flaws in his reasoning for holding onto the wishes. The flaws are true, but his mind is clouded by fear of a lack of control, likely stemming from the horrors he witnessed in his childhood when he had no control. He also likely has a bit of an addiction to the warm fuzzies that the wishes give on top of his fears. While he’s ruminating on that some massive wave of magic blows through the kingdom and messes with the thing he’s already stressed beyond reason about, the wishes.
Magnifico frantically searches for any answer, even considering a dangerous tome of forbidden magic that he knows is trouble before his wife manages to talk him down.
The fact that he could even be talked down rather than ignoring her outright shows that Magnifico does have good in him. He’s just reacting out of a genuine panic. His panic is only worsened by huge mob continuing to beg him for wishes in exchange for doing what should be the selfless act of defending their kingdom from what is essentially perceived as an attack. Not having any faith left in his people he turns back to the evil book to give him the key to stopping this perceived attack.
Just to be clear King Magnifico goes to the big bad evil book not to gain more power for funsies, but to try to find a way to stop a perceived threat. Everything he does from this point on, such as threatening his wife, can no longer be fairly tied to him, because as the movie repeatedly tells us he is under the EVIL book’s influence. His wife even looks through the same book to try and see if there is a way to break the sway she knows it has over him, but says she can’t because the EVIL book said no.
Yada yada yada and Magnifico is sealed inside a magic mirror and smugly told to rot in the dungeon by his previously loving wife.
Seriously?! What the heck?! This guy was the perfect candidate for rehabilitation. He wasn’t flawless, but he wasn’t a murderous psycho like most of the other Disney villains. Disney loves to preach kindness, acceptance, and good will with their heroes, but never does it allow the message of change.
I was shocked going back through the catalogue and slowly realizing none of their villains, regardless of how tragic their origins are, are ever truly allowed a second chance. The hero may offer it, but the baddy never is truly expected to change or reform. Which is honestly super messed up to me. People make mistakes. Some can be small/insignificant, but some are big and do hurt people sometimes. That doesn’t mean they can’t change for the better.
Now I’m not saying every villain is redeemable or good, it’s just a bit surprising that for all the messages of kindness and acceptance we haven’t really gotten forgiveness in 100 years. Seeing the “bad guy’s punishment” just deeply bothered me this time. Probably because so much of the bad that Magnifico does is clearly a trauma response and as a punishment for not acting appropriately to said response he gets sentenced to eternity is magical cell.
#OMG OK SORRY FOR THE VERY LONG RANT#I JUST WANTED TO SHOW THAT DISNEY HAS SPREAD THE MESSAGE OF FORGIVNESS#THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED IN RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON BUT IM TOO TIRED TO RANT ANYMORE#but yes i do think it should be more common for villains to get redemption arcs#that isnt once upon a time. descendents. or live adaptations#not that i dont love once upon a time#or the malificent or cruella movie#descendants im a little iffy about tho#OK ANYWAYS THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME LOL GOODBYE#disney villains
