Kill The Past - Kylo Ren/Ben Solo X Female Reader
Tumblr media
Title: Kill The Past
Kylo Ren/Ben Solo X Female Reader
Additional Characters: Rey, Rose, Finn, Poe, (OC) Fraye, Palpatine (Mentioned), and Luke (Mentioned)
| Part 1 |
WC: 1,834
Warnings: Mentions Ben's inner turmoil, mention of death, stress, nervousness, mentions of Luke trying to kill Ben, some good old feelings, mentions of nightmares, and terrible writing from 2020
She never knew, but how could she have known? Ben… Kylo, were the same person. Looking back on her past, Y/N could see it. All the inner turmoil that he was going through. She had sensed it, could feel it. But, whenever she tried to talk to Ben, he would always shy away. Saying he was fine. Obviously, he wasn't fine. When Y/N, the only survivor of the fire, besides Luke, searched for Ben. He was nowhere to be found. Y/N had thought, for years, that he was dead. He wasn't dead, metaphorically, he was.
Y/N hadn't heard from anyone in the Empire at all since Kylo and her last meeting. Which, more or less, worried her. Though she never wanted to ally with them, not hearing anything from them after almost six months, was, again, worrying. Y/N tried to push the feeling away that something was wrong. She tried to forget Kylo and get on with leading her land and people. But, he always seemed to be lurking in her mind. In her dreams. She would see him, covered in black and darkness, red lightsaber ignited. Some nights, Y/N would have nightmares, Kylo and his Knights of Ren rummaging through villages, sleighing innocent women and children. Forgetting seemed useless, all she could think about was Kylo.
Y/N woke up for the day and got dressed. Placing her crown on her head, her bedroom doors swung open, starting the Queen.
"My lady, we have gotten an emergency message. From an Empire ship." Y/N's eyes widened as she quickly turned from her mirror and fully addressed Vero and Sora directly.
"What does the message say?" Y/N asked, hands clapping together in front of her.
She tried to stay calm, but from the past weeks of nightmares and looming feelings of the Force, she knew something was very wrong.
"It was someone by the name of Rey. She said that the Empire has fallen and if she, and some others, could find refuge on Ova for the time being." Sora spoke, and Y/N took a deep breath and nodded.
"Of course, quickly send a message back to them that they can stay as long as they need to. We have enough space." Sora and Vero nodded and quickly headed off, to relay the message.
Y/N took another deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. The Empire had fallen. The universe was at last at peace. Though she knew not for long. People would retaliate. Not thinking of leaving the castle today, Y/N had dressed in her "staying in" clothes as she called them. But, she knew she had to meet her guests when they arrived, so she decided to change once more. She then dressed in a nice light blue dress, with a high collar and small train. The sleeves were short and slightly see-through and had the same flowiness as the skirt. It was made with the finest light and flowy fabrics, reminding the young Queen of soft mist in the early morning. It was one of her favorites. And it was perfect for this warm day on Ova. And, finally, clapping her necklace on, she was ready for the day.
Heading out of her room and traveling to the communications room, Y/N found Sora and Vero standing at the controls. Vero turned and bowed to the Queen.
"Your highness, they will arrive shortly at the landing deck. Shall Sora and I accompany you?" Y/N nodded, her mind running a mile a minute.
Leaving the entrance of her home, she traveled with her Captain and Guard, a ship was already parked. The drop hanger slowly lowers and a woman walks off and straight to Y/N.
"Thank you, your highness, for letting us stay here." She spoke, and Y/N gave a smile.
"You don't have to bow. And, please, call me Y/N. You all are welcome here. But, how did you come across my planet?" Y/N asked and Rey nodded with her own smile.
"Ben told us this would be a safe place to go for the time being," Rey spoke and Y/N gasped, her hands coming to cover her mouth.
"He's here?" She asked with teary eyes, and Rey nodded, confused.
"Yes, you know him?" She asked the Queen, and she nodded.
"Yes, I've known him since I was a child." Rey smiled at that and nodded back to the ship.
"He's on the ship. With the others. I came out here to greet you. The others would have come out but they are tired." Rey explained.
"Oh, we have plenty of rooms, you all can stay for as long as you need." Y/N spoke and Rey gave a grateful smile.
"Thank you, I'll get the others. I think Ben would like to see you." She spoke before speed jogging back to the ship.
|\/| |\/| |\/|
Soon enough, Rey and five others came out following behind. And one of them was Ben. Y/N's eyes met his and they stared at one another for a small bit before Y/N nervously coughed.
"Alright, follow me and I'll show you to your rooms." She spoke as she, her Captain, and Guard led the way back to the castle.
As everyone found their rooms and got situated, she led them to the main dining room.
"I have notified my cooks and they have prepared lunch for you all. Dinner shall be at sundown." Y/N spoke but quickly apologized.
"Oh, I haven't introduced myself. I am Y/N L/N. But, you can just call me Y/N." She introduced herself.
The other woman in the group went up and stuck her arm out and Y/N shook her hand.
"My name is Rose, and it's nice to meet you." She spoke with a grateful smile.
"It's nice to meet you, Rose."
Next, Y/N was introduced to Poe and Finn, then they looked expectantly at Ben, who stood by himself, hands fidgeting.
"Your highness, lunch is ready.” Fraye, Y/N’s head maid spoke up, and Y/N nodded in appreciation.
“Thank you, Fraye.”
The lunch had been eventful.
Rey, Finn, Poe, and Rose had explained what had happened an only possible hour before. The return of Emperor Palpatine, Ben going to the light side, and so forth. Y/N listened intently, eyes wandering to Ben every so often. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Palpatine was still alive? Well, now he is gone. As Y/N listened, she fidgeted with her necklace, her mind was full of questions along with so many emotions. Soon enough, the story was over, and Y/N had more questions than answers.
“How was Palpatine alive for all this time? I have heard he died from Luke.” She asked, confused more than ever.
“He was staying alive with this weird life support system. I don’t know how to fully explain it. But he somehow got there and was able to survive for the next, what, thirty years?”
“Well, thank you so much for the lunch, Miss Y/N. I’m going to head to bed until dinner if that’s alright?” Poe spoke, and she nodded.
“Of course. That’s alright with me. You’re all guests here, I wouldn’t even mind if you all raided my kitchen.” Y/N joked as they all laughed.
“I might have to take you up on that. The food here is amazing.” Finn spoke, deciding to stand up as well.
“Miss Y/N, I saw you had Holochess. Is it alright if I play?” Rose asked and Y/N nodded.
“Of course, knock yourself out.” She spoke and Rose smiled giddily, latching onto Finn’s arm and pulling him to the room where she saw the Holochess.
Rey looked from Ben to Y/N and back before she gave a soft smile and stood up.
“I’ll let you guys talk.” She spoke before heading out of the room to roam.
Y/N looked to Ben who had already been looking at her. Standing from her seat, she walked around the table to his side and gave him her hand.
“Walk with me?” She asked softly.
Ben silently took her hand, both not letting go as they headed outside and walked through the castle’s garden and headed into the maze. Their walk was silent, comforting, but they both had so much to say.
“I’m glad you’re here.” Y/N spoke up first after a good while, both of them stopping at a bench in the center of the maze.
“I am too.” Ben answered, voice soft.
“Let’s sit down, I want to get a bit serious here.” Y/N spoke, guiding the man to the bench and sitting down.
Turning towards him, she took his other hand, and held them both in her own, before looking into his now soft brown eyes.
“Why didn’t you tell me what was happening to you, Ben? I know you know I was there for you. I would’ve done anything in my power to help you. Why didn’t you tell me?” She asked, as her eyes began to tear up once more, as did Ben’s.
“I’m sorry, Y/N. I didn’t feel like anyone could help me. I felt as if Uncle Luke hated me, that he already knew that I was going to the dark side. That night… He was going to kill me, I knew it for sure. And, that’s when I knew… That no matter what I was going to turn.” Ben spoke, looking down at his hands, held in hers.
“Benny, you know that no matter what I would’ve helped you. Even if it was going to the dark side with you if I had to. No matter what, I would’ve stood by you.” Y/N confessed, but Ben frantically shook his head.
“No, Y/N. Even back then, if you did. I wouldn’t have asked you to do that. You had a future ahead of you.” Ben uttered, but she chuckled sadly.
“Even if I did know, you were gone when I woke up… I couldn’t even find you at all when I was able to.” She pronounced.
“I’m sorry, Y/N/N…” Ben softly remarked, but she shook her head.
“No, Ben you have nothing to be sorry for. You’re not Kylo anymore, and the Empire has fallen. You fought for what was right in the end, and that is all that matters And, you’re safe. And, you have a place here, with me, as long as you want it.” Y/N declared, taking his hand into hers.
“And, I want it for as long as you will have me.” She stated and Ben smiled widely, kissing her cheek.
“I love you, Y/N." He said, and she smiled.
“I love you, too, Ben Solo.” She spoke, giving him a kiss on the cheek in return.
“Now, let’s get you back to the castle. I'll show you around."

Episode IV of OBi-Wan Kenobi, with more crying over Obi-Wan and tiny Leia.
THE BACTA TANK SEQUENCE
Mirroring Anakin and Obi-Wan. It certainly underscores their connection and their bond, the fact that Anakin burned Obi-Wan, Anakin’s body burned after their fight on Mustafar, their lightsabers mixed into the imagery, they are mirrors and reverse images of each other as they heal. That was beautiful.
We meet Roken, played by O’Shea Jackson Jr. who I recognized from Swagger (a very good Apple TV series with an all black lead cast). Neat seeing him show up in the Star Wars universe.
“I had a wife once. I knew exactly what she was before we got married. We tried to hide it. The Inquisitors found her anyway.” So was his wife at least force sensitive? Was she a jedi in hiding, who, with the order gone, decided to marry? That’s interesting.
This ep has a lot of Star Wars: Rebels proto-rebellion energy. Proto-rebellion/pre-rebellion/rebellion era is my favorite Star Wars era. I’m living.
Tala being an ex-Imperial, and she’s so kind and she’s devoting herself now to helping people. Adding to the examples of Imperials who changed sides, like Kallus, and TFO troopers like Finn and Jannah.
These Reva and Leia scenes are dynamite and also frightening. Vivien Lyra Blair and Moses Ingram are electric in this battle of wills between Leia and Reva.
That’s the analytical part of my brain, the rest of me is utterly feral over little Leia and how terrified she must be and how brave she’s being and her being being spot on Leia. “I am PRINCESS of ALDERAAN!” I’m CRYING. She's so self-possessed and bossy I love it.
I hoped to see little Leia in the series, I didn’t know she was going to be a lead character in episode after episode or get this rich a look at her childhood.
This episode being a heist (rescue) episode is just making all of this even better. Ok it's a rescue not a heist technically, but I say it's still a heist episode.
“I had a droid when I was younger too. It was taken from me. Like everything else....I know what it’s like being alone…they are not coming for you.” Oh, Reva is so totally one of the jedi younglings. She feels abandoned by the jedi order, and she's so angry, and everything she believed about the Jedi order was shattered....by Anakin, ironically. (Does she know he was the one who did it? Or did he feed her a pack of lies? Did he play Palpatine to Reva's Anakin?) Reva's an open wound of Anakin parallels. I wonder if Vader whispered in her ear to draw her farther into loyalty to him. Did he play on her insecurities, see something of himself in her? Did he tell her, “they failed you Reva, they abandoned you, like my master failed and abandoned me” — playing her the way Reva is trying to play Leia. I have a lot of questions, I want to know how they met (maybe we’ll find out in the next few eps?)
Obi-Wan doing the same distraction noise ping trick he does in ANH, only it’s a bit more effort for him right now. MY HEART IS CRYING.
IS THAT PLO KOON ENTOMBED???????? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. (If it is, poor Dave, did he finally decide to confirm Plo Koon is dead? Plo Koon is Dave's favorite Jedi.)
This whole scene was so frightening. Tiny Leia, the darkness, the red light, the interrogation machine beeping, a call forward to Leia in ANH. She’s probably had nightmares about imperial interrogation droids most of her life.
“Please! Help! Somebody help!”
Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope
And then the lights go out and there’s only that red circle with Leia in the middle and then that blue lightsaber flashes. How must that have felt from Leia’s pov. What seeing that blue blade means to her, what jedi now mean to her, what Obi-Wan means to her.
Oh, there you are Obi-Wan. Back in graceful badass form. heart-hands
Obi-Wan hiding Leia under his coat like she's a kitten is just so so adorable.
We’ve known Wade and Sully for all of 30 seconds and I’m already sad about Wade dying and Sully’s grief. “Where’s Wade?” “Guess you’re soldiers now after all.”
Leia's 10. She’s too young to be thinking about this, about what the Empire does to people, to the galaxy, about the costs involved in saving her. She is just a kid—her adventure to run away for the afternoon into the woods should not have had such a high cost.
The comfort Obi-Wan and Leia have from each other is HEART SHATTERING.
Obi-Wan couldn’t save Anakin, but he saves Anakin’s daughter, and she continues to save him, through Leia he's reminded of who he is, what his sense of purpose is, and a hope that maybe he’s not an utter failure who completely failed his best friend.

hold on | poe dameron
pairing: poe x reader
word count: 1,9k
summary: where poe has to hold on to y/n for dear life
a/n: this is inspired by that one scene in Mulan II (if you know, you know)
warnings: angst, character death, mentions of blood
universe: star wars
Tumblr media
It was in that one moment, in that one tiny second, that you were careless. You were not paying enough attention. You have felt safe, a false sense of security. And suddenly the plans with important secret information about the First Order and its troops, that you worked hard for to earn, were snatched away from you.
Leia had entrusted the four of you - Rey, Finn, Poe, and you - with this very important mission and sent you to Vandor to meet up with a spy in the ranks of the First Order who captured said plans. With these plans you could have foreseen their next steps and be prepared for them. You would have had a chance, but now that the plans are gone, the hopelessness keeps increasing.
After you went to Vandor and reached your destination, you were badly surprised on your way back to the base and had to make an emergency landing on Pasaana, a heavily populated desert planet. You immediately thought that something was not right, that something was suspicious since the Millennium Flacon was carefully checked on the basis of the Resistance beforehand and showed no signs of any damages or problems. You should have guessed that the First Order was behind this, chasing you down until they got their precious plans back. And unfortunately, that is exactly what they now succeeded in doing.
Pasaana is known for its colorful festivals and marketplaces and while you were looking for spare parts to repair the Falcon with, you were distracted. You were not paying attention, got distracted, and suddenly the plans were gone, stolen by a creature you would classify as a bounty hunter based on its appearance. They were shrewd and cunning and had probably worked out their deed diligently. One of them distracted you all, talked to you, got you involved in a conversation and offered you all sorts of things, just like a real trader. What none of you noticed, however, was how his companion sneaked up on you from behind and stole your bag with the plans.
The two of them ran away immediately and you followed them as quickly as possible. While doing so, you also drew the attention of a few patrols consisting of stormtroopers of the First Order on you, who are making the pursuit even more difficult now. Rey fends off their shots with her blue lightsaber, Finn shoots his blaster at your chasers in the middle of running, while Poe and you are closely following behind the bounty hunters.
The sand under your feet makes it strenuous for you to move forward quickly, but not only you are affected by it. The bounty hunters as well as the stormtroopers are struggling with it too and since you ran out of the actual city by now, you find yourself completely surrounded by sand.
However, you do not let it stop you and continue to pursue them in the hope of regaining the important plans with the information, not dooming your mission. Poe tries to hit them with his own blaster shots repeatedly, but terribly fails. In return for his attack, you are met with a small ball flying straight towards you; a bomb.
Within seconds, Poe throws himself protectively at you, pulling you to the side and away from the source of danger, ending up in the soft sand when the bomb goes off close to you. Poe shields the swirling sand from you with his body, his strong arms blocking your view.
“Are you alright?”, he asks you worried, his arms wrapped tightly around you, scanning his eyes over your face.
“Y-Yes. Thank you”, you stutter out. You have never been this close to him before as you are at this moment right now. His dark curls fall on his forehead, beautifully framing it, his stunning brown eyes look straight into yours. You lose yourself in the moment, wanting to control and stop the time to forever enjoy this moment. Poe, on the other hand, seems to be stunned as well. By you.
He has had these feelings for you for so long already, but he suppressed them. At first, he tried to deny the fact that he fell for you, but seeing you every day, seeing that gorgeous smile on your face that he wants to touch so bad every time, he accepted his feelings at some point, but was still not ready to confess them. How could he? In the midst of a war raging around you, he felt it was inappropriate and not the right time to put his feelings first. But right now, in this moment, he would like nothing more than to confess his love to you. Kiss you right on the spot, cup your face, softly touch you with his fingers, all that he wishes so dearly still seems so far away, even now when he can literally feel your raging heartbeat against his chest.
No longer able to withstand his loving gaze on you, you avert your gaze and Poe watches how your eyes suddenly widen.
“The plans!”, you shout in shock and bring you both back to the bitter reality. Getting up as fast as possible, Poe helping you, you stomp through the deep sand again, following the bounty hunters who have brought a great distance between you in the meantime.
“What are you two even doing!?”, you hear Rey’s voice behind you as she comes running after you both. Apparently, she and Finn successfully eliminated all stormtroopers.
“They are going to escape!”, Finn adds a little angry, the blaster still ready in his hands before another loud shot is suddenly fired.
Several Tie Fighters have now appeared above you, chasing and shooting you. You are abruptly forced to stop in your tracks when one of their fatal shots lands right in front of you, blocking your path with a violent explosion, whirling the sand through the air again.
“This way!”, Poe calls out, takes you by the hand and leads you into a crevice, closely followed by Rey and Finn. “Their footprints lead this way, come on!”
Not hesitating for long, you stay hunched between the rocks, walking more slowly than before with the Tie Fighters over your head, waiting like vultures for their prey. The footprints lead through the rocky landscape until you reach a large, deep cliff.
Right when you reach it, the bounty hunters run over a narrow, unstable suspension bridge that leads over said gorge. Without thinking any further, Poe and you quickly follow them, the loose pieces of wood creaking dangerously under your feet. And on top of all of this, the Tie Fighters reappear, now that there is enough space above you to shoot at you again. A shot fired by Finn, who has stopped on the solid surface in front of the cliff, passes you, heading straight for the bounty hunters, but missing them by only a few inches. One of them aims his weapon directly at Poe and you on the loose bridge, fires a shot as well and actually lands a hit this time. Poe cries out in pain, whimpering, when his blaster is shot out of his hand with great impact, falling into the abyss.
As soon as the two bounty hunters reach the other safe side of the gorge, a disgusting laugh comes from their mouths as they suddenly start to cut the rotten ropes of the hanging bridge. Immediately the bridge begins to sway dangerously under your feet, nearly knocking you over when you try to keep your balance.
“Watch out!”, you hear Rey’s loud scream behind you, the last thing you hear right before one of the Tie Fighters shots fly through the air again, breaking the rope in half and causing you to fall into the deep depths, screaming.
At the very last moment you manage to hold on to a broken old rope, reach out your arm right away to catch Poe as well. His weight pulls hard on your arm, making you cry out in pain briefly, but you grab his hand as tightly as you can, not letting go of him. You hang helplessly in the air over the gorge, which leads several meters down, not even being able to see the ground from up here. A cold breeze floats through the gorge and not only makes you sway, but also the almost completely destroyed suspension bridge above you.
“Poe! Poe, hold on tight, okay? I got this!”, you scream loudly, hoping to give him and also yourself the strength to get through this, but when you look up to where the bridge was a few seconds ago, another part of it breaks and you fall a few meters deeper. Holding on to the one puny rope with your bare physical strength, tears are already stinging your eyes, the situation seeming hopeless. The rope, which now resembles a thin thread, will not be able to hold you for much longer.
“Y/N. It will not hold us both”, Poe states, his shaky voice full of fear and sadness, saying out loud what you thought.
“No, it will hold us both. It will, I know it will!”, you reply with an equal shaky voice, looking down at him and the infinite depth below him. Bloods runs down his arm, caused by the injury on his hand due to the shot, turning his light brown shirt a deep red. Tears well up in your eyes when you notice the helplessness in his eyes. Shortly after your words, the rope starts to tear a little more and your arms turn sorer every second.
“I should have told you this much earlier, Y/N. But I want you to know that, before we die, I truly love you”, Poe confesses out of nowhere, causing the tears to flow down your cheeks, your hand clasping even more around his wrist.
“I love you too, Poe. With all my heart”, you sob and see a gentle smile on Poe’s lips, which disappears again quickly as his whole facial expression changes after his gaze fell on the thread which is the only thing still saving you from death. “We will not die, do you hear me? We will make it out of here!”
“Y/N. I am sorry”, he whispers and suddenly loosens his grip on your hand. Screaming bitterly, you try to grab him, to hold him, but his hand slips away, and Poe falls down into the abyss, margining with the deep black while you can only scream after him.
“NO!”, you cry out loudly, your hand still outstretched, warm and covered in blood where your hands were still touching seconds before. “POE!”
You are about to let go as well, your grip on the rope, that is currently still rescuing you from the same fatal fate as Poe, is already loosening when you suddenly feel how the gravity gets reversed and you begin to float in the air. Slowly, you slide up out of the deep gorge, still holding the rope in your hand, your gaze fixed on the black below you as you get rescued through the Force by Rey. As soon as you feel solid ground under your feet again, you rush back to the dangerous edge, fall on your knees in front of it while tears flow down your cheeks in streams.
With beeping ears and a throbbing heart, you feel how Rey and Finn put their arms around you, how they talk to you and try to comfort you. But nothing could. Nothing in this universe could relieve you from the absolute pain you are in.
You feel nothing but emptiness. A void that is only filled with the unbearable pain of just having lost the love of your life forever.

Unfrozen
Tumblr media
Chapter 1 of Unfrozen?
Summary: You once were a General and a Jedi Master fighting against separatists alongside the clones, the next darkness clouded over and life passed in a flash, and before you knew it you’re waking up with no memory running for your life.
A/N- I’ve had this idea in mind for some while and wanted to share it with all of you. You let me know if you want another part :) I’ll be willing to write more for this!
Pairing- Hmm well I’m stuck, either Poe, or Rey, or well the other mystery character that you’ll discover in this chapter. But if you want no love interest. I’m down for that, (let me know!)
Warning- mentions of violence, angst.
—
“Please, it's me, General Heart!” You exclaim hoarsely, looking wide eyed and terrified at the clones all with their blasters pointed at you. They seemed strange, their armor was missing their individual markings, you couldn’t recall what exactly they were, or their names, but you knew that they were missing something. They looked different.
“Stand down Jedi scum!”
You gasp and stare at them baffled. They keep coming towards you and that’s where something in you sparked, something telling you to run. So you did, you swiftly slipped past them and began to run for your life, feeling your heart in your throat, and your breathing heave, tears slipped past your eyes and mixed with the icy water already rolling down your face.
Everything told you not to stop, every muscle in your body told you to run, and a faint voice in your head told you the same. “General run and don’t look back! I have your back. Always...”, more tears stung your eyes and that voice lit your adrenaline, causing you to run faster. You slipped on the ice on the ground, but you picked yourself every time, you continued speeding from the echoing footsteps, gasping as you saw an incoming waterfall. You were already soaked and freezing, but there was no other choice, you ran past and felt the icy water crash over your entire body, making your stepping much clumsier.
But you couldn’t stop, you kept running.
Albeit, you made the mistake to look back, tripping over an ice chunk and suddenly bumping into something hard, but softer than ice. Nonetheless you finally got knocked off your feet and fell to the ground with a hard, painful thud. Your eyes fly to the face that belonged to the body you bumped into and more terror mixed in your expression; two other people came up behind him, all three however with weapons pointing at you. One though, one of them had a lightsaber in hand, a familiar lightsaber.
“Please!” You plead to the tan man with dark curly hair in front of the pair, “you’ve got to help me! Clones...my clones, they turned against me, they’re trying to kill me!”
The tall dark skinned man with darker and curlier hair behind him tilts his head and his eyes look at you hard and confused, he looks to the man in front of the pair and whispers, “Clones?”
The girl with them, the one with the lightsaber walks past the pair and looks down at you with a perplexed expression. “She—”
Before she could finish what she was saying, she cuts herself off at the sound of the multiple loud incoming footsteps. You jump to your feet and slowly step back, finding your hand instinctively go to your side and reach for something cold and metal. Once the clones finally come to view and point their weapons at you and now those three behind you, you press a button that activates the hilt and shows a blue burning blade. You heard two gasps before one of them remarks on the amount of clones. “Damn, what did you do?”
You look at him over your shoulder and that’s where you spot another squadron of clones storming your way. Coming from every direction.
“You three rebel scum, give us the girl and we’ll let you live.”
The brunette with the lightsaber steps forward and pushes you behind her. “I don’t think we will.”
The same clone trooper with the gravelly voice that had spoken before speaks again. “I think she’ll want to come with us. We have someone she might be interested in. Her beloved Commander Snow that we got out alongside with her.”
The name rings a bell, but you can’t seem to really figure out who it was. You wanted to picture a face, but your mind came out blank; “I don’t know who you’re talking about. What’s your name, clone?”
“Clone?” The same trooper spits, “you might be more lost than the Supreme leader imagined.”
“Could she be the thing, the key, General Organa told us about?” A deep voice asks behind you in a whisper.
“It’s her.” Another voice behind you answers.
“Give her to us, now, we won’t ask again.”
The same tan man steps in front of you and remarks to the comment. “Don’t worry about it, you won’t have to.”
The remark makes you snort and reminds you of someone, but again you can’t come up with a face.
Yet before anything else could happen, the girl slowly eyes you over her shoulder and then up to the sky. “When I say jump, you jump.”
Your gaze narrows and you look at her completely lost. “Jump? Onto what? Air?”
The woman glares at you and then at that instant you hear the sound of an incoming ship and the girl then give you her signal. “Jump!”
You hesitate, but find no other option and listen, bending your knees a little before jumping high and holding onto the ramp that barely showed within the clouds. The two men follow along, both clumsily hanging on and pulling themselves onto the platform. You follow by doing the same, rejecting the help they offered and in one moment from the other seeing the girl land successfully next to you, pulling you inside the warmth of the ship and closing the ramp before she runs with you in hand to the cockpit. “Hit it Chewie!”
The ship zooms forward and avoids the blasts coming its way, once you’re in space, the Wookiee doesn’t hesitate to jump into hyperspace, leaving the cockpit in silence and a bitter cold temperature that leaves you shivering as your wet clothes stick to your body.
“You must be cold,” the girl directs to you, walking out of the cockpit and leaving you with the other two men and the Wookiee staring at you with a wondering gaze.
“What’s your name?”
“I,” you part your lips, wanting to give an answer but finding you can only remember a nickname and the title that belonged to you. “I don’t remember. But I do know that they call me, General Heart. Who are you?”
Both men look to each other and then one of them decides to speak first. “I’m Finn, this is Poe Dameron.”
“Commander, Poe Dameron.” The tan man makes clear.
The Wookiee speaks and introduces himself as “Chewbacca.”
You offer them a small smile and before you ask more, the girl returns with clothes in hand, looking at you and pushing them towards you. “Here, change, or you’ll get a frostbite.”
“Okay, thank you.”
“You can go change inside the room down the hall, in the second door to the left.” She suggests while she points out of the small cockpit.
You follow her suggestion without hesitation, desperately wanting out of your uncomfortable, soaked tunic and cloak that weighed heavily as water soaked it completely. It took you some time since the fabric stuck to your skin, but once you managed to wiggle yourself into the new change of clothes, you were relieved and finally finding warmth. Before you could leave the room however, you stopped in front of a small mirror hanging on the wall, parting your lips as you let out a gasp when you couldn’t even recognize your own face. You reached your hand to feel your skin and it was still cold to the touch, some warmth returned to it, but it was a slow process. Your eyes however studied your face and watered once you found no familiarity to it, or anything, your mind was completely blank, it hurt to even try and remember anything.
So avoiding any more pain, you walk out and return to the cockpit where before you could sit back down, a droid bumped into you, beeping at you wildly.
You blink down, but again find no familiarity.
“That’s Artoo,” the girl reveals, “he seems excited, he seems to know you.”
Your eyebrows knit together, you attempt to remember who this droid was, but nothing came to mind. “I’m sorry. I don’t remember you.” You turn to the girl and ask for her name. “What’s your name?”
“Rey.”
You hum and nod. “Do you know who I am? What year are we in?”
“What do you remember?” She questions, turning the attention back to you.
“I,” you breathe as you sit down and rub your forehead, seeing flashes of your last moments that did stick to your mind. Pain and confusion was the only feelings you recalled. Nothing else beside that. “My-my clones, one minute we were peacefully returning to our ship, the next they…” fear returns to you, and again blurred memories flash in your mind. “They suddenly turned against me. They tried to kill me. My commander...commander Snow he tried to save me for some reason. Unlike his brothers he didn’t have the need to kill me. Where am I? Where’s commander snow? What happened?”
All of them look at eachother and the droid whirs softly, he rolls to you and calls your attention so you'd look at a hologram he spit out. One of a single bearded man with same cloak you had worn. Your eyes stung and unlike many other things you could remember every single detail about him. Even if his image was blue and a simple hologram, you knew him and found solace in seeing his face. You knew his name, “Master Kenobi…”
“This Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. I regret to report that both our Jedi Order and the Republic have fallen. With the dark shadow of the empire rising to take their place. This message is a warning and a reminder to any surviving Jedi. Trust in the force. Do not return to the temple, that time has passed. And our future is uncertain. We will each be challenged, our trust, our faith, our friendships. But we must persevere. And in time a new hope will emerge. May the force be with you.”
Tears stream down your face, and you stare at the hologram completely taken back. You slowly stand up and reach for it, as if you could physically the touch of your old Master. It takes you a moment to grasp what you heard, but you remember hearing this message once upon a time.
You avoid looking at the people watching you and the message alike, and continue watching the hologram, muttering to the droid in a soft voice. “Play it again.”

Last night I rewatched TROS (my second time watching it) and... I still hate it. It’s a generic action movie with little substance, a plot that makes little sense and characters acting out of character. I know I’ve nitpicked it to death already but here are some observations I had on second viewing.
Ben should have had a breakdown when he found out Palpatine had been all the voices in his head.
The trio scenes didn’t bother me much the first time around, I actually thought they were quite fun. But the second time around I hated them. All the banter, no not even banter, just constant fighting and disagreeing. Rey and Poe in particular kept getting on my nerves.
The erasure of Rose is disgusting. She is simply an extra in this film.
The Knights of Ren could have been awesome! I do love how they were watching while Kylo get his mask repaired. Like, you can’t hang out with us without a cool mask Kylo. Lol. But they ended up being useless.
WHY DOES EVERYONE CALL HIM REN??? STOPPPP.
Why did Finn wait until he was almost sucked into the sand to tell Rey he was force sensitive?? Why is it such a secret? Why didn’t he want Poe to know??? Idk seems like he wanted to make a love confession to me.
I don’t understand why Rey and Ben keep fighting. She is so mad all the time. The only thing that makes sense is is a dark force was controlling her but I guess it was just because the dark side is in her nature?? I don’t know?? Would’ve made sense if Palpatine was possessing her or something.
Ben wanted to push her, that’s we he raced at her in his TIE fighter, but Rey would never try to murder him. Not after what they went through in TLJ when they began to get to know and understand each other. Like, she legit almost killed him multiple times. I don’t understand her motivations at all.
So there was a second transport ship on Pasaana. There’s a brief shot where you can see two of them next to each other. But the way the shots are framed makes it so we believe the one that takes off is the one Chewie is in. It’s simply a convenient plot point for shock value. That’s all it was. But it’s not as big of a plot hole as I originally thought I guess.
Rey who is apparently the most powerful force user ever couldn’t feel that Chewie wasn’t dead???
Ben NEVER wanted to turn her to the dark side. That was never his intention.
Now that we know Adam recorded masked Kylo lines in his closet I can’t help but cringe. Uh some of this dialogue is so bad. You have his power. Bleh.
Hux being the spy is laughably bad. What a waste of his character.
I love how brutal the Death Star lightsaber duel is! But I hate how these two idiots just keep fighting. Just stop and talk. Please.
I did want to take your hand. Ben’s hand. My favourite quote in the movie.
The Han and Ben scene is still one of the best. Incredibly emotional. I only wish Anakin had reached out to Ben too and been another push for him to go back to the light.
Why is force ghost Luke so blue???
Leia stopped her Jedi training because she foresaw her son would die at the end of her path. But then Luke pushes Rey to complete Leia’s journey. And what happens at the end of Leia’s Jedi journey which Rey is now going to complete? Her son will die. HATE the implications of that.
All the action and battles were visually cool but all over the place. I wasn’t sure what anyone was trying to do? It was just confusing and hard to make sense of anything that was going on.
So Finn and Jannah were both former stormtroopers, taken from their families as children and groomed into becoming killer soldiers. And then they go around killing stormtroopers, people who were just like them once, and cheer while they do it?? Kinda disturbing if you ask me.
Ben Solo running into Exegol alone with only a blaster still gives me chills! His little ow! Passing the lightsaber through the bond! Han Solo shrug! The dyad finally together with their blue lightsabers. LOVE IT!
Ben getting thrown down the pit hurts me deep down to my soul.
It should have been the dyad together defeating Palpatine. A power like life itself. Instead they turned Rey into a superhero who can do everything alone (with the voices of the Jedi of course because they appear to her and her only.)
I’ll never get tired of the kiss or Ben’s smile! It’s almost worth it just for that moment alone.
Ben’s death didn’t hurt me as much because I knew it was coming. But it just happens and then it’s... over. No aftermath whatsoever. He’s gone and forgotten just like that. No one remembers him. Just like the majority of the movie it felt empty.
The ending is even worse the second time around. Why the hell did Rey go to Tatooine, a place she has no attachment to?
I HATE her taking on the Skywalker name.
I HATE that she’s alone on a desert planet.
I HATE that she’s wearing the clothes she died in.
I HATE that her soulmate is dead.
I HATE that the dyad had been torn apart.
The ghosts of Luke and Leia just look so... weird.
Is the force balanced? No.
Were the First Order defeated? I don’t know???
Rey has a name now, sure, but she doesn’t have a family. They’re all dead. So I guess a name means more than an actual family?
The ending is not happy or satisfying whatsoever and that taints everything else.
Overall, I’m glad I watched it again (look there are certain moments I absolutely LOVE) but it’s still not a good movie in the slightest.
And it wasn’t as blue as I remembered so I guess that’s something.

My critique of the Sequel Trilogy Lightsaber duels
My biggest problems with the Sequel Trilogy are the blatant rip off and unoriginality, no clear plan at all, lore breaking bullshit, lack of worldbuilding and poor executions of great character concepts. In this post, one of my My biggest gripes with the Sequels is the terrible Lightsaber fights.
The only good duel in my opinion is Finn vs Kylo Ren. This feels raw and powerful. A hardened soldier who has just became familiar to Lightsaber combat vs a trained dark side warrior. Despite Ren's years on training, though, Finn puts up a good fight and is able to hold his own before having his back sliced up. But.....that's what kills the fight for me. Finn's injuries. If this were in the first 6 movies or anywhere in the EU, Finn would be in a wheelchair or in a bacta tank for life. And guess what? A movie later and Finn’s injuries are never brought up again or treated with any severity.
Like Finn’s injuries, Finn’s rivalry with Kylo Ren is dropped for no reason whatsoever and never mentioned again. Finn and Kylo Ren are narrative foils, yet after TFA it’s dropped??? From the start they have been prominent foils to each other: dark from light and light from dark, both in the First Order but in drastically different positions. And Kylo too obviously has strong feelings about his defection. I also believe that Finn is the awakening in the force that Kylo and Snoke felt. Perhaps that is why Kylo focused on Finn and is so angry about him. Finn is also the first person to use the legacy lightsaber and is the first to actually fight Kylo. TLJ could've focused on Finn and Kylo being  narrative foils having a force connection and Kylo wondering why Finn would switch to the Resistance while Finn wonders why Kylo joined The First Order and  Rey standing in the middle of it all wondering with the new realization that her family has a mixed past of good and evil and her questioning where exactly does she belong? The way at the height of tfa when Kylo Ren rejected Han Solo’s offer for redemption and killed him he looked over and noticed Finn. Like they both locked eyes and in that moment was a surge of emotions between them— shock (and some fear) on Finn’s end, and anger on Kylo’s as he shouts at Finn that he’s a traitor— and those circumstances set Finn and Kylo up to be the dynamic for the sequel trilogy. They were foils, and the trilogy had the potential to truly expand on that and see their development in a final standoff/rematch at the very end. But it was wasted, because why have good movies.
Rey vs Kylo Ren. This duel was bullshit from start to finish. Okay, I don't care how force sensitive she is. I don't care that she downloaded Kylo's abilities in the interrogation. ANd I don't give a fuck WHO she turned out to be related to. If you are thrown into a tree, you are gonna be out for at least an hour. I will hand it to them that it feels like a genuine fight, but it just feels cheap when Rey won. It also doesn't make it any better that Kylo's injuries doesn't force him to wear the helmet at all times, his facial wounds are non-consequential. Rey has no prior training. Never held a lightsaber. Rey fighting off thieves with her quarterstaff is not the same thing, it is understandable that Kylo was struggling because of his injuries, but Rey didn’t struggle against Kylo. Even Luke struggled with Vader and Anakin struggled with Dooku. What should have happened is as it looks like Kylo is about to win, Chewie from the Falcon fires his bowcaster to keep Ren at bay and both Rey and Finn make it to the Falcon. This way we can keep Kylo Ren strong and show Rey struggling to overcome Kylo. It will also show This is how powerful he is when injured, so imagine him at his peak. Instead we get a pointless fight instead of Rey and Finn just escaping Starkiller base while Ren collapses due to injuries and Rey beating Kylo served no purpose(the end goal to destroy Starkiller Base was already accomplished) and helped derail their villain of the trilogy.
The Throne Room Duel. Everyone knew that Rey and Kylo would kill the Praetorian Guards. This is a fight with absolutely zero stakes. It's one thing if Rey and Kylo dueled Snoke himself, that might be a good fight. But come on, did anyone REALLY think they would lose? There is no tension in the scene and it is pointless. Kylo Ren and Rey are fighting a faceless a group of guards that we know absolutely nothing about and have literally no purpose in the entire story except for this one fight. We know neither of the characters are going to die because these are just faceless red shirts and there is still like 30 to 40 minutes left of the movie. Terrible editing takes away any enjoyment one might have with the fight choreography, if you've got to literally photoshop out the bad guys weapons in post production to not look stupid you might need to recoreograph the shot. There are multiple times where Rey, Kylo and the guards are just doing motions and actions because they look cool but serve no purpose but to look cool. Kylo stabbing the ground? Pointless. Rey twirling her rave stick around while someone falls behind her, pointless. Not even once do we see them displaying their powers is what cheapens the fight. Kylo Ren is powerful enough to freeze a blaster and a person in place and Rey herself unlocked Kylo’s powers, so the two of them could have easily ended the fight sooner than it was dragged out. Kylo is powerful in the force but he SERIOUSLY could not stop a Praetorian Guard choke holding him and Rey struggled with a guard? Rey and Kylo were stronger in TFA and are just made weaker in the duel with the Praetorian Guards. Kylo could have frozen half of the guards and Rey could have mind tricked the other half into killing the frozen guards and Kylo and Rey could have finished them. They are masters of light and darkness, but they are made weaker. The throne room scene is a symbolization of everything wrong with the movie. It’s all flash, but no substance and the more you think about it, the worse it gets.
All this duel makes me believe is that Rey and Ben should’ve both switched sides in TLJ. Rey gives in to the dark side and Ben returns home. Rey is the most Sith like character if you obey the rules of George Lucas for Light and Dark sides of the force. Ben Solo is more Jedi like throughout the movie until the end. Let me explain. Rey throughout the sequel trilogy has given in to her passion and anger. In the end of TFA Rey gave in to anger and hate to defeat Kylo. and in TLJ she is shown to use anger and hate throughout the movie. She is shown to as Yoda put it “take the quick and easy path to the dark side” gives in to anger and hate in almost every scene before she boards the Supremacy and gave in to the temptations of the dark side water cave. Her dark side actions in TROS speak for itself. Ben is calm and clear minded like a Jedi, he even wants to cut all ties to attachments like a Jedi. Everything we were told of the Jedi and how disciplined they are, Ben displays that in TLJ until after the Throne room fight. Hell, EVEN THE THRONE ROOM FIGHT SUGGESTS THIS. Think about the fact that Ben really does not move or even engage. He just stands there and dodges and swings once when the guard rushes him. Contrast that to Rey, who is clearly being more aggressive with her lightsaber and attacking rather than just being passive. How again is Rey the Jedi and Kylo is the dark side force user in this movie? They’re fighting in the exact opposite way they should be. Rey fights for the kill while Kylo gets a glancing blow in the armor in the opening fight. Their style of fighting in the Throne Room with the Praetorian Guards really suggests that they should’ve switched sides. What they should have done is have Ben realize that Snoke was evil and shows regret for his actions and turn to the light. While Rey feeling betrayed by Luke and the revelation of her family turns to the dark. This would not only be unexpected but would even rival Vader’s “I am your father” twist. And it would logically follow what we’ve seen of these two characters leading up to this point. Rather than just out of the blue Kylo turns angry and irrational and Rey is calm when Ben was calm and rational throughout the movie and Rey was full of anger and hate throughout this movie. You have them follow an arc that makes sense for their individual personalities. Ben is always calm, but he felt betrayed by those on the light, but he comes to realize that betrayal was an incorrect perception and he desperately wants to make amends to Luke and Leia and therefore he should rejoin what he knows in his heart is good. While Rey is full of passion and anger and as that builds up and she realizes that even the great Jedi Luke Skywalker is a disappointment and her family abandoned her, she knows the only person who can live up to her own expectations is herself and that self-centered attitude leads her to the dark side. That would make sense and we would have something to fight for, save Rey from herself or stop her.
Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren. Originally, I thought they were gonna have Luke first send the Walkers’ turboblasts right back at them and use the force to bring down the transports, TIEs and the shuttle and then toy with his nephew like Vader did to him and leave Kylo Ren in defeat and his ruined fleet. In a way he did(minus the ruined fleet), but it took away any tension away by having Luke just be a force projection. He wasn't there. His moment with Leia and 3-PO doesn't feel genuine anymore. And the "duel" if you can call it that is just bad. Luke doesn't have his Green Lightsaber and their blades do not clash. A Jedi is all about defense. But a Jedi will also fight in self-defense to defend others. The argument that Luke did the "most Jedi thing ever" is bullshit. A Jedi will stand up for what's right and face the threat. Instead Luke pulled a practical joke and died pointlessly. I mean if he instead pulled the X-Wing out afterwords and told R2 "Come on R2, we've got work to do." I would forgive that and then we could've gotten a genuine master and apprentice relationship between Luke and Rey and a proper reunion between Luke and Leia. But no, he has to die of force exhaustion. If Palpatine, who uses the force like crack didn't die of force exhaustion, then why did Luke?
The duels in TROS are all equally terrible. Not once did I felt any excitement between Rey and Kylo's duels as I did with Finn and Kylo from TFA. Every Lightsaber duel is forgettable. The fight in Ren's Quarters is just bad. The fight on the Death Star Ruins is just terrible. It's like they both got high on deathsticks and could barley remember that they are both trained with a Lightsaber. Fighting in ruins surrounded by water SHOULD BE EXCITING! But they did everything in their power to make this duel boring, mediocre and lackluster. They act as if they are swinging bats, not Lightsabers. Lightsabers aren’t baseball bats, stop treating them like they are!
The worst part is that THIS was the final Lightsaber duel of the Star Wars saga. A huge step down if compared to Obi Wan vs Anakin in Mustafar and Darth Vader vs Luke Skywalker in the Emperor’s Throne Room, which unlike the previous prequel, had awesome shooting and use of the soundtrack, also being very lengthy.
Then we get the Luke and Leia flashback. The ONLY well choreographed fight scene is a fucking flashback.
Then Ben Solo and the Knights Of Ren. Again, we know the Knights are gonna die. If JJ Abrams bothered to characterize the Knights, then yes they might've had a chance, but like the Praetorian Guards, they exist for background and die pointlessly.
Of Course we don't get to see Palpatine duel wielding his twin Sith Lightsabers and fighting Rey and Ben, cause JJ mr I hate the Prequels can't give the fans any decent Lightsaber fights. Instead of Palpatine facing Rey and Ben in an epic climatic final battle, we get Palpatine killed by his own lightning.
The fights in TFA is adequate at best. TLJ is meaningless. TROS is absolutely terrible and forgettable.
John, Daisy and Adam deserved better choreography than they were given. There's no excuse for the lackluster duels we see in the ST, whether from Rey, Finn or Kylo.
One of the biggest complaints for the Prequels is Lightsaber fights is "they are too choreographed" and anyone who believes this is an idiot. What? You wanted Jedi in their prime to slap sticks like old people? You wanted them to fight like drunken hobos? One of the best things in the prequels was finally getting to see the Jedi finally go all out in some awesome lightsaber duels. The Jedi should be masters at Lightsaber combat. Fight choreography is a good thing. Look at the duels in the prequels. You can like or hate them but the duel between Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon and Maul was great. As was Obi-Wan vs Jango, Yoda vs Dooku and every duel in ROTS. Even The Clone Wars had great fight choreography. There was more planning and choreography in The Clone Wars S7E10 than in the whole sequel trilogy.
Seriously, why wasn't Nick Gillard contacted? He is the main reason why the Lightsaber duels in the prequels were so good. I don't care if too many Lightsabers were a big complaint amongst the Prequel haters, the duels were good. So instead of great fight scenes, you traded great fight choreography for mediocre baseball bat fights?
The choreography is not the issue alone. There is no emotion. In TFA. Starkiller Base was already set to blow, so the fight was pointless. In TLJ there is no emotion at stake for the Throne Room fight and the Resistance already got away prior to Luke's pointless death. Rey vs Kylo doesn’t even matter because the characters HAVE THE SAME GOAL. Both want to get to Exegol via a wayfinder before the duel and both get to Exegol with a wayfinder (or memory of it) at the end of the duel. While Kylo gets redeemed, the duel wasn’t necessary for this part as Leia just needed to talk to him and then give him the force induced memory. The only thing this proves is that Rey is not a Jedi because she gives into anger and blind rage to start the duel.
The duels in the prequels and originals had themes, emotion and meaning. Not just that but they looked damn impressive and was the spectacle that helped made Star Wars, Star Wars.
There isn't any good musical scores for any of the Lightsaber fights either or at the very least, nothing memorable. Nothing as iconic as Duel Of Fates, Battle Of Heroes and the Throne Room fight in ROTJ. I don't remember any themes in the Sequels and that's a problem.
And it doesn’t help that these duels have no meaningful deaths either. A bunch of faceless guards and Luke (through indirect means) are the only deaths via a duel. But this is what happens when you hide the mentor archetype on an island and have the hero and villain go at it for three films.
The Lightsaber duel is no longer an emotional spectacle and a grand duel to the death. It's a bunch of idiots high on deathsticks fighting pointlessly and fighting for absolutely nothing. Rey fights like a Sith but she's a Jedi. Ben fights like a Jedi but is leading the First Order? They don't matter anymore and the duels in the sequels are the most forgettable thing about them.

star wars AU? for the AU ask!
Oh boy. I really don’t know enough about Star Wars to give a really detailed answer, but I don’t want to ignore this, so I’ll try my best. I’ll use the characters from Magic Keepers for this one:
- Milo would be an ex-stormtrooper. I guess kinda like Finn, but that’s kinda what his storyline is like already. Cadmus would also be a stormtrooper, but he’s not really loyal to their cause and is only keeps his job so that he can pass intel along to Milo.
- Keyla and the other magic keepers would be Jedis, I guess. I don’t know if there’s any significance to the colours, but I feel like she’d have a blue one.
- Taven and his father work together building and repairing droids. Taven keeps getting attached to them and befriending them. His father keeps telling him to stop, but he can’t help it.
- I’m picturing Garzlan and Ravina as some kind of tag team of pilots, or like captains of some kind of spacecraft, who secretly smuggle people out of dangerous places and bring them to safety. Ravina is the more reckless of the two, which results in a lot of shouting because Garzlan is very attached to the spacecraft and god forbid anything happen to it (idk why but the thought of these two in a space setting is really adorable to me).
- I realized like halfway through typing this that the bad guy of this AU would probably be called Darth Valder and I feel like I shouldn’t find this as funny as I do. Darth Valder would have a red lightsaber, kinda like the one that Kylo Ren has.

Ok that was the sequels with the Disney Canon, But MY idea of the sequels would be actually an animated series about Luke’s Jedi Order, it would be basically a Jedi School series with fun adventures and both old and new characters. I know I previously ranted about how I hate both school settings and teenage protagonists but this is different because it’s Jedi School and it’s Star Wars.
So, for this I take what I like from the old canon, other things from the new canon, and drop other things, don’t expect much coherence.
Anyways it’s set about 15 or so years after the Battle of Endor. Things have gotten much better, you know how it goes, the New Republic has grown and the Imperial Remnant are just a fringe junta of all the weirdo warlords of the EU, Han and Leia get married, Lando is chancellor, and Luke marries Mara Jade, because she’s awesome, and rebuilds the Jedi Order.
Since the old method of “kidnapping children” is out for obvious reasons, the Jedi Order functions more like a boarding school or summer camp in Yavin IV. It is much smaller than the prequels order, composed of:
Old masters and survivors to Order 66, like Luke, Mara, Ahsoka, Ezra and a couple others, they try their best but they are ultimately quirky teachers
First generation jedi that were only recently trained like Finn and Rey and still have much to learn
And a whole bunch of Padawans from all ages, species, worlds and backgrounds
The series mostly follows Luke’s son Ben, who is a Very Good Kid with a little of a complex fromhaving such a successful father (and mother) who are praised all over the Galaxy. He’s quiet, shy and isn’t very good with a lightsaber but has a deep connection to the force. He’s friends/rivals with his older cousin Aldera Organa (Han took Leia’s name) who is LOUD, sarcastic, hotheaded, and while overall a good girl WILL cut you up with a lightsaber if given the chance. They’re friends with a pilot jedi padawan from an Andes/Inca inspired world (we haven’t seen that before in Star Wars), a huge Wookiee who plays football (as in the one with foot, not the yanqui version), and a Trandoshan mechanic girl (because they are always shown as villain characters, make them heroes for once). Together, They Fight Crime and we see how they slowly grow from just kids to heroes.
Luke Skywalker meanwhile, tries to be a good teacher. He wakes up every day, drinks his blue milk, and reads pedagogy textbooks to try to become a better teacher, but is very concerned that he’s just winging it all, after all he only got two weeks top of training with Obi-Wan and Yoda included. Everybody assures him it’s okay but he doesn’t believe them. Leia represents the Jedi back at Coruscant, Han trains the New Republic special forces (including New Republic Super Agents Poe Dameron and Rose Tico), Lando is the New Republic Chancellor, R2D2 and C3PO are the official Jedi academy groundskeeper and translator, respectively, and Chewie is just vibing and enjoying his retirement.
Ok, so everything is nice so far. Another year in the Academy starts, all the character meet, Luke and Mara have a parent-teachers reunion, etc. etc. he assures everyone the school is Perfectly Safe, just look at that Togruta lady she has TWO lightsabers isn’t she awesome?
Meanwhile, somewhere in the Galaxy, Han and his Superagents are in a shooting with some aliens who come from outside the Galaxy. They escape in their ship and are headed to the Jedi Academy, Han tries to warn them but the transmission is cut.
So first lessons in the Jedi Academy, Ben is dissapointed that he isn’t as good as a Jedi as the other kids despite being the son of Luke and you know normal school dramas but with lightsabers.
THEN the aliens land. They are like... Vong But Not Really, intergalactic invaders who are able to manipulate and even disconect someone from the Force temporarily, and they are physically very strong. They are a scout team sent ahead of the main fleet to test the strongest force users of the Galaxy and they aren’t very impressed.
They kidnap the children to study them but they escape using Home Alone traps unorthodox tactics. A battle ensues, awesome things happen, Mara blows up their ship so they hide in the jungle at night. The kids are lost in the jungle though, and the Vong close up on them one by one. Just as the leader grabs Ben and does his villain speech, a green lightsaber lights up in the darkness. It's Luke. He gives the Vong leader one chance to free them. The Vong nervously refuse.
Luke Skywalker goes fucking feral on them, Darth-Vader-In-Rogue-One Style, until they finally surrender and free the kids, and then he goes back into Quirky Master mode and asks them all if they are okay. They are, just now are fucking terrified for several reasons.
Nobody is seriously hurt and all the kidnappers are captured so they see little reason to suspend the academic year. They send the Vong prisoners to Coruscant, where Leia resolves to learn more about these invaders before the come, and so the main arc of the series starts, while they fight pirates, bounty hunter, imperial warlords, dark side spirits and all that weird EU stuff, they slowly investigate who the Vong are, what they want and try to prepare for the upcoming invasion.
Other *fun* things that happen include:
Thrawn, who was conspicously absent all this time (though Ezra escaped from him at some point), comes back from the Unknown Regions with his fleet and sees the bunch of jokers leading what remains of the “Empire”. He goes all art student mode and says “hhmmrmm... an empeire need sthe figuer of an empoerer”...
And eventually manuevers over the warlords and crowns himself emperor, and the New Republic has another headache to deal with.
The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda from hit live-action series “The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda Show” appear, he finally found the Jedi after aimlessly wandering the Galaxy, and tearfully entrusts Baby Yoda to them. It’s a babysitting episode where Baby Yoda makes pure CHAOS in the Jedi Academy and eventually the Jedi give him back to Din, telling him to raise him until he’s more mature, much to his delight
Luke organizes a friendly lightsaber tournament to test everybody’s abilities. Ahsoka, Ezra and the rest, who had more lightsaber training than “Obi-Wan teaching me to avoid a floating ball and Yoda making me pile up rocks” wipe the floor with him.
In the villain romance nobody asked for, Thrawn marries admiral Daala in a marriage for convenience and the Jedi are invited to the wedding omg!!! Of course, IT’S A TRAP and the new Imperial couple tell them to serve the rightful galactic goverment, that is, them. And so they crash the wedding instead, it would be hilarious
The kids are majorly concerned about Luke talking to force ghosts and Mara ocassionally repeating orders from a dead Palpatine, and they try to make them get a fucking vacation and therapy for once.
LIFE. DAY. SPECIAL.
Some dark side cultists cloned Palpatine but because he was raised differently in another world he’s just like, an accountant, who gets kidnapped for their dark rituals, and the Jedi have to spend a whole fleet to rescue Some Guy who doesn’t even understand what’s going on.
Of course eventually the Vong invade in full force and the Galaxy is under attack again, the Thrawn Empire has to decide if to follow an old dream of a Sith madman or help the New Republic, and everybody has Choices to make and Tragedy incoming but that’s way in the future to write.
It would be so much fun to have an Jedi Academy series because I’m sure Mark Hamill would LOVE to be casted, the old EU has so much cool things (and stupid crap) to write about, and you have so many characters to make plots and subplots for and make toys and spinoffsHEY DISNEY ARE YOU LISTENING YOU CAN MAKE MONEY WITH THIS YOU BASTARDS

what are your takes/version of how the sequel trilogy went down? because i also have my own version in my head, not.... that, but im really interested in the ideas other people have had for it
hoo boy there’s a lot of ground to cover here lmao i will try to keep them as short as i can... i also enjoy multiple versions of events and outcomes for the sequels as long as they’re in-character so i’m not trying to say no other version of the sequels is good or cool bc only a sith deals in absolutes amirite? (i won’t apologize for that dumb joke.) first the jumping-off points:
first of all, i fully support Force-sensitive Finn. even if he didn’t become a full-blown Jedi, if the entire concept of the Jedi was reforged and we don’t see him become the kind of Jedi we saw in the prequels (more on that later), i see him as someone who was attuned to the Force in a way that is similar to how i conceive of Barriss; empathetic to the suffering and joy of others. this would drive him to defect from the Empire and fear it, too. i also saw him becoming a reluctant leader for the rebellion, and there’s a GREAT fic which i’ll link here that riffs on the idea that he creates a spark within the stormtrooper ranks and more and more of them begin to defect... which i love
Rey being a nobody is cool to me. the ONE character moment where she became super relatable for me was when she realized how frightened she was of her own Force abilities. but i don’t think she has to be the legacy of Palps to have that. she doesn’t need supercharged powers to be spooked by them in a post-Jedi Order world where the most recent memory anybody has of the Force is Vader. (also Rey being a Kenobi seems more out of character for Obi-Wan than anything else lol he was pretty committed to the ways of the Order even after they were destroyed, plus he already had one kid to furtively watch over... just imo). this also ties into my expansion on the Force.
Poe being not a carbon copy of Han. i think Leia looked after him, found him somehow after she sent Ben to the Jedi Academy and was a motherly figure in his life. i like the idea that he was a little shit, and she’s the one who taught him to turn his reactive defiance of authority into bravery when fighting for the rebels. i think he looked up to her, wanted to be a leader like her. i saw him in the position of generals like Akbar by the end, as he learns to balance risk-taking with steady leadership. I wanted to see that growth, how those leaders are formed, see Leia get to impart her wisdom to someone. (also i fully support Finn/Poe and Finn/Rey/Poe, i’m not a committed shipper so i’m down with no romance at all between them but those ships are choice af and Stormpilot is all Oscar Isaac wanted anyway, so...) plus can u imagine the dichotomy of Ben the fallen son with Poe, the “adopted” son who became what Ben couldn’t? the guilt of Leia for not knowing how to teach her son about the Force, doing better half-raising a nobody who had the same shitty attitude as Han when they met but no Force ability? THIS IS JUICY CHARACTER CONTENT
Rose was given cheesy lines to introduce an important topic: that fighting is all well and good but throwing away your principles defeats the purpose of the fight in the first place (an important theme in the Clone Wars era, too.) she was there to be the voice of the truly little people in the gffa, who we don’t hear much about in the other trilogies. Finn’s sensitivity puts him at risk of the sorrow-to-hate arc i described for Barriss; Rose is there to be the empathy that sustains hope rather than becomes a crushing weight. i love the idea that she might rally volunteers from blue-collar places (like... Lothal, for example?) and spearhead the notion that the New Republic should be very different from the old one, calling out the fact that working conditions didn’t change with the shift from republic to empire and the First Order simply took it to an extreme that left her and her sister with nothing else to lose.
Ben Solo, hoo boy. so here’s the thing, we don’t KNOW Ben Solo. we were expected to want him to be redeemed because he was the son of Han and Leia, and that’s it. that’s lazy as fuck. him killing Han in the first movie (if it happened it should have been in movie #2, that’s how fucking second acts work) was an excuse to shock people, subvert the ‘i can’t kill my own father’ thing, and make sure we knew he was “evil” even though we’re supposed to also want a redemption arc? you have to read the Rise of Kylo Ren comics to learn that he was a) hounded by the voice of Snoke in his head from childhood, manipulated by it, which is horrific bc it’s like grooming... or b) that he felt HUGE pressure as a legacy Force-user to save the galaxy, lead the New Jedi Order, etc. these are much more empathy-generating and we should have learned them in TFA. echoes of Anakin much? which is why i think him being redeemed in a way other than self-sacrifice (which made sense for Vader given his long history of being a terrible person, knowing it was too late for him in the end, and really just wanting to save his son rather than “become good again”) is more interesting than him just falling (which is too much the same as the prequels.)
it should have been Finn’s call, a moment of Truth that held the balance of Finn as either falling prey to darkness or learning forgiveness, whether or not Kylo got redeemed. Finn and Rey working together to get to that point while Rose and Poe took on the military aspect of the Big Finale would have been great. Finn with a lightsaber to Kylo’s throat, feeling the temptation to murder him instead of making him face what he’s become in a meaningful way? Rey trying to urge him away from darkness as she’s been tempted before, but this is the first time Finn’s really been tested, and he was the one who so often reminded her of her own humanity? Rey calling up Rose’s point of creating a new paradigm instead of recreating the old one, of Poe’s growth or Leia’s willingness to take Ben back showing it’s possible? shiiiiiiit
the rest is going under a cut!
SO... given those things as a basis...
there being no scene where Force-ghost Anakin bops Kylo on the head (but you know, more subtly and with gorgeous metaphor ofc) was a travesty. we needed some version of that, also imo that reaffirms that Anakin was the chosen one... as him redirecting his grandson away from that path would be restoring hella balance
Snoke should have had his own fucked up backstory, if he was even there at all. a dark sider fucking with Ben Solo is reasonable to me, but Snoke could have been someone who looked up to Palps as much as Kylo supposedly looked up to Vader. that would have been interesting... maybe there are multiple “nobodies” who are being touched by the Force, just like there always were in the prequels era, but some are going dark with no Jedi to try to convince them otherwise? or, maybe Snoke’s life was ruined by the Empire and he chose to become the beast that harmed him, whereas Kylo becomes the version where you think you want to do that but then realize that it’s just as bad and you still have empathy and regret what you’ve done?
Thrawn being the main military antagonist, since they couldn’t be arsed to make Hux into anything but a sniveling baby fascist (despite his really upsetting backstory of an abusive father, also found in the comics... noticing a trend here?). Thrawn was already established and beloved in the legends. why would you not use him. whY?? he’s like a foil for Tarkin. contention between him and the Force-users in charge (Snoke and Kylo) would have been VERY interesting, esp with the character of Thrawn in the new canon seeing the Empire as a ‘necessary evil’ and now maybe having the potential to make it into something else? how’s JOINING WITH THE NEW REPUBLIC for a subversion of the classic tropes, Rian?????? you fucker????
if Thrawn’s history is “too storied” for a bunch of cowards to "fit” into a new movie trilogy, invent another antivillain to take Thrawn’s place whose history is a little more concurrent with the sequel era... you cowards
Luke fucking off after his failure isn’t out of character IMO. he was THE STRONGEST JEDI EVER and his star pupil still fell? maybe he broke under the same pressure Ben did. maybe that’s what allows him to reach back out towards Kylo and reconnect, admitting his failure. i want to hear more about him cutting himself off from the Force bc i LOVE KOTOR 2 and Kreia, but maybe that’s too much for one trilogy to delve into meaningfully, i dunno
Han fucking off after Ben wrecked the temple isn’t OOC either. i think Han was always a little frightened of the Force, the way many non-sensitives are. I think he was critical as a father, because he was critical of himself and Han is the king of projection. i wanted more of the dysfunctional relationship between him and Ben.
if Kylo kills Han, the scene needs to show more of the fact that Kylo actually regretted it, which Snoke only alludes to in TLJ, foreshadowing his future. i rewrote Han’s death scene for a friend and got a lot of good feedback about it so maybe i’ll post it here sometime. i can get behind a version where he doesn’t die, too, i just haven’t fleshed it out in my own head.
i like the idea that the Jedi Order needed to be remade, and that Luke saw the failure of the old order when he saw Ben turn like so many of the Jedi in the Order did. i like that Rey and Finn might spearhead this, and maybe Kylo’s role is to know the dark side intimately enough now that he can actually teach how it works, how to deal with it... how inevitable its temptation is. because...
in this canon, i don’t think the Force has light or darkness. i think it’s Force-users who do. it is their internal landscapes which cause them to “fall” or be redeemed or not, after all. Finn can attest to the same, so can Rey and Luke... so like, all the Jedi need DBT therapy or something i guess. lmao hold the dialectic, you nerds
the Force has shown time and time again that it cannot be “balanced” so maybe it is ourselves who need to become balanced instead
the Force is chaos, a never-ending series of colliding butterfly effects that to us will always and inevitably be seen as turmoil, cause and effect on a cosmic scale. if you drink too greedily of its power, or try to exert total control over it, by its nature it will consume you because it is beyond your mortal ken. whatever you hunger for, the force will give you more and more of it until you are overwhelmed, drowning in it
this is why peace was a central teaching of the Jedi... peace, the antithesis of chaos, which can only ever be created from within, the eye of the storm which must be sought time and time again
anyway thanks for coming to my ted talk? i’m always down to hear other people’s ideas for these characters tbh. and always down to get more into these topics if you want to know more... esp as it relates to the failure of the Jedi Order, or KOTOR 2 and Revan and Kreia, or OF COURSE my OCs because Sol has a very interesting relationship with the Force.
thank you for this ask lordimperius!! ^_^

(This started on a different post, but I wanted to talk about more stuff, so I’m putting it here)
The entire new trio was done so wrong, but Poe in particular should have gotten to shine as the character who unites people, somebody who has been in the resistance from the beginning and is a survivor who knows battle strategy, but ALSO is a natural peace-maker and diplomat, like he almost doesn’t even notice because he sees it as just making friends with everybody everywhere he goes, but he is naturally intuitive of a person’s needs, he’s compassionate, and he’s thoughtful enough to be able to explain how things can be different, imagine if various evil groups in the galaxy hated Poe because he kept BEFRIENDING half their members who just go and join his side, and on top of that he’s impossible to kill, he’s been in countless explosions and crash-landings, but he’s always fine, and if he could have gotten his OWN Force Awakening, Poe could have been the guy who has a natural empathic link to the Force, he can see how good and evil flows through everybody (but he doesn’t even realize this is the Force, he just figured he was really good at reading body-language and vocal-signals), and what he does isn’t a “mind trick”, he doesn’t manipulate people in any way, but he knows exactly how to offer somebody a choice to change the path they are on, they still have to choose it themselves, and since Poe is also naturally charismatic, people usually make the right choice. The guy could have been the spiritual successor to both Han, Leia, and even Padme; he’s got that adventurous streak, he knows how to deal with dangerous situations and shady characters, he knows how to talk his way out of almost anything, he sees the big picture, he ultimately values cooperation and understands when it is time to compromise and when it is time to take a stand without backing down. Poe could have been the guy who stands up in front of a crowd, full of millions of different beings who have been on different sides of a war none of them started, and explained to them that it was time for peace, and he would be ready to take on the responsibilities that followed
OK, that was my Poe rant, now y’all read for this? (that sports jam music plays, you know the one)
Finn! This character was, initially, so amazing interesting and the intro of him was PERFECT. We have this Stormtrooper guy show so much empathy and inner struggle just in the first few minutes of existing! I mean, the Stormtroopers have not been taking off their helmets in any of the originals, we find out the originally the armor was for Clonetroopers, the whole system is for them to be faceless and expendable, never question the authority of the empire or have any personal motivations (they don’t get payed, they don’t get rewards, they just do their jobs and hope that they don’t get killed by the rebels or one of their leaders in a bad mood), but here is Finn showing us that NO, that isn’t true. He’s a real person, they are ALL real people, and as a person he is going to make choice about his life. This guy should have gotten to be half of the Jedi successors. He should have discovered he was most definitely Force sensitive, and he should have had his own visions about finding Luke, because he was a intuitive pull toward the Light. Finn would be under the impression that he was to do something to earn this, that he has to prove himself, but eventually he is reassured that he is ALREADY good enough, in fact he can’t be more good if he tried. He was not meant to be a cookie-cutter soldier, he was not meant to be a weapon for a cause he doesn’t believe in, he was meant to be a Jedi, and he does not have to doubt himself as one. Any anger he might feel is justified, he doesn’t have to worry about that making him “slip”. Finn can reach out and feel the conflict within people, the way Luke could sense the conflict within his father, but in a more resolute and defined way. He can see the path of events that lead to what is happening, and he knows exactly when to forgive and who should be blamed. Expanding on this, he can see how to go forward. Imagine Finn walking away from a taunting enemy, not because he’s “too afraid to fight”, but because he KNOWS that he’ll win, and he doesn’t need to waste his time. Finn, who had been stolen and trapped, is now free and in control. He wins by either rescuing his enemies and turning them into allies, or by simply side-stepping anything they try to throw at him, and finally by being able to defeat them. He’s the mirror to Luke, when Luke truly WAS the last Jedi (I’m talking at the end of Return), but also the combination of Obi Wan and Kwi Gon Jinn; the will to do good in the face of fear, the calm confidence, but with freedom from the rules that inadvertently destroyed the Jedi, and an emotional courage that is all his own. He would be an amazing new teacher of young Jedi, creating an environment where children would feel safe, a sense of unity while remaining unique individuals, and receive guidance without being suppressed
And now we have... Rey! We already know she had a sensitivity to the Force, she was able to walk through it a river, sometimes going with the flow and sometimes fighting the current. No change needed for the most part... but imagine she has no “genetic” ties to the Force. This was not an inherited gift from some relative, this isn’t a power that is passed-down in her family. It is just her. Amazing, and all her own. Unlike the other two in the trio, she has been alone. Poe lost his family, but was surrounded by love of an extended one. Finn was stolen from his family, thrown into a crowded group yet isolated. Rey was abandoned, and for most of her life, never managed to find a new connection with anybody. When she discovers that she’s special, she can’t imagine how to use this as gain for HERSELF, her first thought is how to be useful to OTHERS. If there is any personal gain in it, there is only the idea that by being useful, people will want her around. Imagine Rey seeing her new friends stand beside her, reassuring her that she means something to them in an emotional sense, not just as a means to an end. If she was not able to use these powers, they would still love her. It isn’t the powers that they are amazed by, it is the fact that she uses them to do the most good that she can. She understands loneliness and how quickly that can turn into a deep hatred for yourself and life, and she has always pulled herself up from that deep sinking pit. Now she has companions who reach out and offer to help her. Rey is the other half of the Jedi successors, and yes, she is indeed able to touch the Dark. It is not her weakness, and it is not her weapon, it is her shield. The Dark is not going to corrupt her, and she won’t use it to destroy others, but to try and break through the darkness to hurt her would require being able to face the darkness in yourself and fully admit what you truly are, which is not something many are able to do. Especially not the villains, who claim that their evil ways are actually righteous (which is a self-serving lie), or think that simply being evil openly is actually a form of strength (to truly know that what you are doing is “wrong”, you would also know that you can’t win). Rey isn’t evil, she isn’t sinister, and she doesn’t turn into a twisted monster. Rey is, at her core, kind. Even when she fights, her motivation is kindness for those who would be harmed without her intervention. Her kindness isn’t indifferent or passive, it is powerful and has direction. Fighting might sound like a “violent” act, but to do nothing while innocents are killed would be truly heartless. Finn inherits Luke’s Blue Lightsaber, and Rey inherits a Red one. They are both Jedi, and a new age of what that means; it is simply people who are attuned to the Force, no longer rejected anybody who in the depths of the darkness. Rey knows how to pull people up from it, and isn’t afraid of diving deep into herself for this power. Rey finds herself in the middle of not a small group, but several large groups of people, all who see her as a person. They trust her, and they allow her to take her own time to heal, to find peace, to enjoy things in life she never experienced. She had once been thrown away, and all she could have hoped for was to be “needed”... but she is WANTED, she will never be forgotten, she will never be lost. Her Red Lightsaber represents every single Jedi who ever fell, because Rey got back up

Thoughts on The Rise of Skywalker
Just a disclaimer that this post contains TROS spoilers
Hi there, it’s me again sharing my views on the latest Star Wars as a Reylo, fan and former film student (the latter may show at some point but it’s mostly a fan view).
I had pretty high expectations for this movie and I was not not happy leaving the screening, but I had some things that I thought would go down differently so here’s what I think.
Rey
I really like how organic Rey and Kylo’s connection and intimacy is portrayed in The Last Jedi, and J.J. expanded a bit on that which I think it’s very nice (and apparently they can teleport things via ForceSkype now which is an interesting take but I understand the reasoning).
One thing that I didn’t really like is that Rey is a Palpatine. I’ve seen one theory on this and it makes sense now, yet I was a great supporter of the theory that Rey was really a nobody, that she came from nothing like Kylo said. She could’ve been just like Anakin who didn’t have either Jedi nor Sith ancestors.
On a more positive note, Rey’s conflict with herself is an ongoing theme in this trilogy and I believe it was really well developed and has come to a satisfying conclusion. I felt like she was a bit lost in the beginning and I thought it was going to be an issue later on but thankfully it got better before it was too late.
Also Rey is so goddamn powerful and strong with the Force I love her so much.
When Rey and Kylo are battling in the old Death Star and she stabs him with his own lightsaber but then she feels Leia’s gone and immediately realises what she has done and without second thought she kneels to heal Ben crying. My heart exploded I felt so many things at once I can’t explain.
“I wanted to take your hand. Ben’s hand.” hsdcsgfyufgyufgeryfcgeif i died.
The ForceSkype teleporting feature I ALMOST FAINTED BECAUSE I GENUINELY THOUGHT SHE WAS GOING TO KILL BEN INSTEAD OF PAPLS WHEN THEY EXCHANGED LOOKS I WAS SO RELIEVED AND HAPPY WHEN SHE GAVE HIM ANI’S BLUE LIGHTSABER.
DARK REY WITH HER DOUBLE RED LIGHTSABER.
THAT YELLOW LIGHTSABER. I WANT IT. NOW.
Also maybe that “I am all the Jedi” line is a nudge to Avengers: Endgame? (*cof* hi Disney *cof*)
Kylo Ren/Ben Solo
Next up is ma boi Kylo Ben, who has been my favourite character this whole trilogy and hell Adam Driver portrayed him so wonderfully. In TLJ he grew so much as a character, not only as a villain but a person who went through a lot, has an abusive master and is constantly being haunted by the guilt of killing his father.
To start this off, I want to talk about those first scenes. OH MY GOD KYLO TAKING ALL THOSE PEOPLE IN THE FOREST IN SLOW MOTION AND HIS SOLO JOURNEY TO EXEGOL. After that I got mad at Palps when one of his first lines was “I have been every voice you have ever heard inside your head” because it means Ben has been manipulated his whole life and didn’t really have a choice other than turn to the dark side.
Kylo’s arc is by far my favourite and in my (completely biased) opinion the best written one. When he’s introduced in TFA, he’s a promise of a new Vader but he’s not quite there yet. Kylo has conflict inside him, a spark of light still, and to put out that spark once and for all he’s instructed by his master to kill Han Solo, but as we’ve seen it has “split his spirit to the bone”, to quote Snoke.
Later on in TLJ when the ForceSkype starts we begin to see more of Kylo’s vulnerable side, specially when Rey is talking to him in the hut. Kylo takes his fcking glove off to take Rey’s hand and that’s when Reylo became canon and you can’t change my mind.
Fast forward to TROS, Kylo is already the Supreme Leader and he’s as strong as Rey (but most likely more skilled because he had extensive training while Rey had only a few lessons and read some books?) and they are Force Dyads which makes them absurdly powerful together.
One thing I noticed is that every time Rey and Kylo claim to have seen the future both of them are always on the same side, either Dark or Light, but always together. They’ve never mentioned a future where they are apart and/or on different sides. *all the Reylo feels*
Then when both are battling in the old Death Star and Rey stabs him but heals him shortly after and Ben is ready to let Kylo Ren die to become Ben Solo again is brilliant. And that dialog with Han made me shed a tear or two. (a random side note is that I got a tiny bit upset when he threw his lightsaber away because his lightsaber is so cool and I just got one myself but I absolutely understand the need to get rid of it).
I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN MY BABY BEN SOLO BURST INTO PALPATINE’S CHAMBERS (?) WITH ONLY A BLASTER AND LOOKED SO GOOD. Also I almost cried when he took the blue saber and beat the shit out of the Knights of Ren.
LITERALLY THE RISE OF SKYWALKER.
BEN HUGGING REY’S BODY RIGHT BEFORE RESURRECTING HER.
“Ben”
THE KISS. THAT SMILE.
BEN SOLO DESERVED BETTER.
And yes, I believe Ben Solo isn’t truly dead and Rey can help him come back and they can live happily like they deserve to be.
Thank you Adam Driver for being the highlight of this movie (and dare I say, trilogy) and bless us with amazing acting.
Poe Dameron
I love Poe, he’s great and I loved that they gave him more screen time and I get they were trying to build another trio like in the OT but maybe making Poe, who was already a great pilot like Han also be a former (spice) smuggler is a bit much? We could use new characters and it’s okay if you wanna recycle the idea but please don’t make them identical.
Another very important point is why do you need to make up a female love interest for Poe when there’s clearly one already? During the whole movie I felt a sexual tension between Finn and Poe just not to have them together in the end, I was very disappointed. MAKE STORMPILOT CANON YOU COWARDS.
Finn
To be honest, Finn is not one of my favourite characters and I believe it’s mostly due to poor writing. Finn is a great character and had so much potential being a deserter of the First Order but his arc wasn’t so well developed in the trilogy as a whole and one of the arcs I least enjoyed in TLJ was Finn and Rose’s adventure in Canto Bight. It all felt like a distraction even though they were doing something seemingly important but failed at the end.
In TROS, Finn finds a group of other Stormtrooper deserters and I thought maybe it’d push his storyline forward but not so much. I was a bit disappointed but there were also lots of other things happening that I didn’t pay much attention to Finn, one of the reasons being that I already didn’t care much about him before so now it was kind of meh.
I said it before and I’ll say it again, MAKE STORMPILOT CANON.
A positive thing on Finn is that now they explored how Finn is Force-sensitive and now he finally realised he doesn’t need to run away and is willing to fight.
Rose Tico
As I’ve mentioned before, her arc with Finn wasn’t my favourite in TLJ but that’s okay because you can’t make everyone happy all the time, yet I saw many people complaining about her character and even Kelly was attacked that she left social media. And now there were so many complaints that they decided to basically ignore Rose and she’s in like three scenes.
I don’t think they even gave a plausible explanation why Rose couldn’t come along with Finn, Poe and Rey other than the fans didn’t like her character and they were trying to recreate the original trio.
General Hux
Well, to be honest I was almost certain he would die at some point but killing him off like that? He deserved a bit of dignity. But his scenes were funny, which I’m not sure if it’s good or bad because he’s a First Order general so... he’s supposed to be more serious, I guess?
As weird as it is, I kinda get his motives for being the spy, to see Kylo Ren fall so he could ascend to the Supreme Leader position, but things didn’t work out but at least we got a bit of that Kylux tension, right? *sigh*
Knights of Ren
One of my great disappointments of this movie.
They didn’t say a word, were only referred as murderers (not sure about the word exactly but it was something like that), had a couple of fight scenes and died. I wish they made an appearance in TLJ but they were only mentioned in Rey’s vision and Snoke mentioned them once but that was it.
They had some really impressive costumes and weapons, though.
Overall a great movie, lots of nostalgia, would recommend.
So there it is, my thoughts on The Rise of Skywalker after watching it for the first time. Please feel free to share your thoughts as well and let’s talk :)

Let’s Write About While Watching: LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special (2020)
This is a celebration of Life Day (Winter Veil tiding) only for the Sequel Trilogy. Rey is the main character here, instead of a big mess with the wookiee family of Chewbacca. With freedom restored Life Day could once again be celebrated, so to Kashyyk again we go. Finn and Rey are working on training with a lightsaber, that Rey senses force potential in Finn, and Finn ends up not “letting go” as she tries to read the ancient texts. When traveling down a wrong path, one must find another, a new path. That she is actually challenged. She ain’t a Mary Sue you hacks! There are other parts of the crew post Rise of Skywalker for celebrating Life Day, and Rey continues to study the Jedi texts as she doesn’t know what she is missing. As she is not as nmater in the forc,e of both darkness and light. And this is where I wish that she had a teacher, whether of Light like Luke or Dark like the OC Aliana (not Kylo Ren, he’s shite). And apparently there is a prophecy on Kordoku to help them both with training. That Life Day is today so they have to go. Chewie is knowing about the fact that family and spending time with each other. So Rey is trying to balance training and spending time with people. BB8 leaves and then a sir cries and says “I have a plan” and they know that his plans are terrible. So he resolves to make the biggest party ever with the best food. Rey didn’t take Finn with her to the Jedi Temple on Kordoku. It is a very snowy place with an Aurora Borealis all around it, then again such is probably not the mame for winter lights in general, just for Northern lights or such. Rey looks through the ruins and finds the symbol the Jedi are known for and inside is a green Kyber Crystal wrapped in linen, and with waving it she created a portal. So her and BB8 walk in to explore what’s next. A force gateway to… Empire Strikes Back where Luke was training with Yoda. She found that such is true and she thinks that it is a lot more interesting than it really is. That she could learn something from Master and Apprentice. “Do or do not, there is no try” “Participation trophies for Jedi, there are not” That is an amusing quote, and then there’s a sea monster which is right behind Rey, so they had to get out, and then to the next place. Watch other Jedi masters train their students. Do or do not and I’m going to do, he says. Obi-wan and Qui-Gonn Jinn are together at the start of The Phantom Menace, only for the appearance of Attack of the Clones where they see Anakin and Obi-wan talking about the fact that Anakin loves Padme. Jumping to Luke, where she ends up in his cockpit and they still need to shoot. “Listen to your master, use the force!” The shot goes through, which guiding a shot into the exhaust port is rather odd. Technically Rey did help him blow up the Death Star, and she thought that it was awesome. Switching back to Finn, Chewie, Rose, and… Captain turned general… He ends up burning a  porg. Rey reflects on all of the things that she saw with the time traveling Kyber crystal and it was rather intersting, so then she jumped into a new portal caused by the crystal and then there is a monologue from Sidious. Death Star Two is commented as derivative, Starkiller Base was thought of by Vader, “Galaxy’s Best Emperor” only for Vader to be send into the future with Rey to find what happened. Return of the Jedi Vader vs Rise of Skywalker Rey… Interesting. Then the family of Chewmbacca comes and they start getting into a ruckus. Then I findally remembered the camptain turned general’s name is Poe Dameron. “All too easy, now I have the… what is this thing.” Quite humorous, and the fact that they are fighting and Vader didn’t know from what point in time she was so he assumed that it was during RotJ. “Impressive, I almost feel bad having to destroy you.” There are two Darth Vader’s because of there being RotJ Vader and ESB Vader, so they end up fighting. They say that their skills are impressive, only to conclude that they are the same being and agree to kill Rey. Rey runs off along with a Snowtrooper, where the RotJ Vader follows Rey as they appear on Mustafar where Anakin and Obi-wan were fighting in Revenge of the Sith. This is entertaining, only for The Child with The Mandalorian to show up in their adventures so Rey and Vader agree that The Child is cute. Only to continue fighting. Clone Wars have two clones talking about hating traffic duty, they joined the chase with Pod Racers from The Phantom Menace’s Pod Race scene. Then there are some from the ESB Hoth base, space battles, only to appear in A New Hope’s opening shot with Luke Skywalker drinking blue milk and a bunch of people from different points in time fighting amongst each other. Different versions of Jedi and Sith, clone troopers and stormtroopers. Only for Luke from ANH to chase after them and the key is taken by BB8 and then Vader is almost done taking it and the mug… He succeeds so now there’s ANH Luke and Rey in the temple. Kylo Ren is found dancing around saying that he’s Surpreme Leader, and Hux ends up perving on him. Palpatine and Vader are found by him and it is commented that Kylo Ren is a total fanboy. Palpatine doesn’t doesn’t rule anything, so Kylo is told to put on a shirt. Luke and Rey end up talking and Luke is at the point in time where he doesn’t know who Darth Vader is or the fact that he is Luke’s father… Although Vader did hint at that in a conversation. Kylo Ren finishes the story of RotJ to Rise of Skywalker. Kylo Ren speaks of the fact that he didn’t kill his master by Reactor Shaft, but didn’t tell Palpatine that he would kill his master in a different way. So now Palpatine is trying to work on stealing the time to have an Infinite Empire… Switch back to Finn and Poe, Finn sings Huttese Jingle Bells. Rather entertaining, as Poe Dameron. Palpatine likes everything that Kylo says, even things which Vader already said like Starkiller Base being seen as a good name when said by Kylo but when said by Vader it was a ‘lame name’ (earlier in the special). One thing that Disney does know how to deal with is making fun of the movie series along with the fan perception of it, while having cheesy bits like Huttese Jingle Bells, just as in the original Holiday Special Luke, Leia, and Han were on Kashyyyk to spend time with Chewbacca for Life Day. Skywalker is on the forest moon of Endor, so Vader is told to go and get him. Sending Vader down to pick up Luke when it would go to the same chain of events? Well, Palpatine now has Kylo Ren instead of Vader. Voda’s force ghost appears to Rey while she’s moping to herself, and it is noted that failure is important, to be a better student and a better teacher. One for doing a reminder of A Chrismas Tale from Charles Dickens. So focused on the books that she forgot the most important part. Useless knowledge is without connection. That there are friends that people have, and not just the connection between master and Padawan. Luke then talks to Rey about what was being said, while kind of just repeating it. “Had the power al along” So then she alights kyber crystals and they swirl together, along with holding the hands of ANH Luke to create a large portal using those crystals back to ANH. Kylo Ren like having a swirly chair. It is noted that Kylo Ren loves his grandpa so doesn’t want to send him down the shaft, two lightsabers of Kylo and Rey, then there is ANH Luke throwing milk at Kylo Ren, only for BB8 to stop him and then Rey to stop him. Uncle Luke “Uncle” “What did you mean by destroy Vader too?” Stop everyone in a  black cape. “All of us, make with the fighty fighty!” So now there’s two versions of Luke around, Kylo, and Rey, as Palpatine is a pain in the ass. “Join me, and together we can rule the galaxy” “Really should’ve seen that coming” Only for Kylo Ren to fall back into his chair and he gets really angsty, destroying his chair with his lightsaber. Now it’s Rey, Vader, Rey, and Luke… “You’ve failed before, you’ve failed again.” I do enjoy the jokes that Palpatine has, only for Rey to stop him by having the help of Vader and Luke? “Luke, do you remember the first Jedi lesson you ever knew?” That she already knows and then Palpatine is still thrown into the reactor shaft. “Hey, what’s with the sweater” only say “Happy Life Day” Then Palpatine reflects on the fact that he a complete asshole and is always so mean, so he gets a Scrooge Reflection while he is falling to his death that being on the Dark Side and ruling the galaxy isn’t that good of an idea. Which is rather amusing but for something to actually come of that would be odd. Where Luke drinks his blue milk and reflects on what just happened, as Rey sends everyone else back to their proper time, puts the crystal back, and then gets back to the Millenium Falcon to the Life Day party. Rey actually sows up and speaks of the fact that she actually made it back in time, only for BB8 to tell the adventure to C3PO. There was a reflection that Finn is ready to become a  Jedi and Rey to train him, as for the events, snow on Kashyyyk and Finn accidently destroys the table with the lightsaber. Plus it’s a yellow lightsaber, which is traditionally mainly used by Jedi Temple Guards. Well… That was the end and it was quite interesting. That plus the fact that apparently another LEGO special for Star Wars is a Battle Droid RO-GR which came from Clone Wars to fighting the First Order.

So...I just watched The Rise of Skywalker
And it was...a movie
Now, if you don’t want it spoiled, then don’t click keep reading, because I will immediately start after that.
Got it?
Good
Now that that’s out of the way
THERE IS A CANON LESBIAN COUPLE IN STAR WARS AND THEY SHARED A KISS, I AM DEAD
Sorry I just had to get that out of my system
I am not a movie critic, and for the most part I just enjoy a movie unless it bores me. But I have been saying that I will do this review, and I will, so I will just go over important part by important part.
Good?
Good.
The first scene
This is, hands down, my favorite scene in the movie. The way they introduced Palpatine and that we never really see his face in the scene is really menacing, but still oddly hilarious.
I mean, the man is hanging there quoting himself. He later literally said do it!! I’m surprised he didn’t start to tell the story of Darth plagueise the wise.
Plus, the fact that Kylo doesn’t want to join Palpatine and become his apprentice, but just kill him, is really cool to me. It shows a little different side of his character, that he wants to be his own and not just the next Vader.
Also, after Palpatine saying “I created Snoke”, there’s a blink and you’ll miss it moment of a deformed looking Snoke in a cubicle, so that’s that character's backstory. He was a failed clone all along!
Poe, Finn, Chewie & the Spy
The start of this scene is just pure fluff between our dear space husbands and their mom’s, husband's dog.
The revelation of the spy was cool, but I kinda immediately guessed that it would be either Hux or Phasma.
I really liked the chase scene, plus the banter between the characters. Character interaction is a thing I love in franchises, and this movie does a good job with it
Master Leia
I LIVE FOR LEIA TRAINING REY TO BE A JEDI
The Rey training scene though was...unnecessary, dunno why it was there.
Rey’s always been a kinda on-off character for me. I like her when she’s loose and chill instead of a “badass”. In this movie...I mean she has her moments, but for the most part I didn’t want her there
C-3PO, R2-D2 & BB-8
The fact that BB-9e wasn’t in this movie is a crime
I like Threepio, like most other fans, but he’s just like always been...there for me. In this movie though, holy shit did he shine!
To be quite honest, he was probably one of my favorite characters in it, just because he kept that lightheartedness in an otherwise angsty movie, with some occasional fluff.
What I really like about him is that they made this his movie! Artoo and BB-8 were barely in it, and when they were they didn’t do much, so Threepio could really shine! Literally, he’s made of gold. The latest eight movies he’s basically been bullied by every character on screen, no one really seems to like him (Poe did it in this movie, so it’s still a thing) but they gave him a lot of screentime and I like that!
I don’t like BB-8. He’s mostly there to sell toys, and I get that that’s what Star Wars is all about these days, but don’t make it obvious!! Cough, cough PORG!!!!
Artoo was underused as kriff in this movie. He did basically nothing, despite being one of the franchises most popular characters. My favorite moment in the movie however is when Wiped Threepio And Artoo reunite, and he actually sound HURT when Threepio doesn’t recognize him!! He calls him his best friend okay!?!?
Lando
!!!!
His introduction was so fricking cute! Chewie just went to hug him instantly, because that poor fluffy boy has lost enough!!
Threepio going to explain who he is, and Rey just going “We know who he is!” Is so heartwarming, like he’s a war hero! People idolize him that’s so cute!!!
Knights of Ren
Will get more into them in another section, but look really cool but really underused
Stormpilot, Jedipilot, Stormjedi & Stormjedipilot
Let’s get this over with
All three of the first ships are evident in this movie.
Rey and Poe arguing about BB-8 and The Falcon at the start of the movie...is basically all we get for Jedipilot but what’d you expect?
Poe making Finn general, their banter throughout the movie, the little very unnecessary fight they had, the reunion at the end of the movie-
THIS
Rey: So what were you going to tell me?
Finn: We’ll take it later
Poe: What, you mean when Poe’s not here?
YOU JEALOUS BRO???
Finn wanting to tell Rey something was most likely confessing some feeling for her, but then they survived and yeah, and it was fucking dropped?! Did JJ just forget about that???
Plus, I’ve never noticed this before, but Finn yells Rey’s name a lot.
The reunion hug between the three of them at the end of the movie is what kinda made me like Stormjedipilot. Poe and Rey holding their hands over Finn’s back while he buries his head into their shoulders, like yeah I like that.
Chewie’s “death”
I, to be honest, kinda wanted Chewbacca to die a little here. It would have made Kylo’s turn so much more compelling.
So it is my personal headcanon that Kylo did not know that Chewie wasn’t on that ship, and for a few minutes he actually thought that he, Uncle Chewie, had died. Because I couldn’t be the only one who saw a bit of pain on his face.
Kijimi
I first did not like Zorii, mostly because I thought she and Poe would have had a “relationship”.
Though, when Rey held a lightsaber against her throat, and she just impressively said “Not that it matters, but I like you.”
Gal, you GAAAAY
And also that twice, twice, Poe asks if they should kiss and she dismisses both tries, that I like. Good job movie, god job.
During the raid, you can hear female Stormtroopers, and I think that’s really cool. We’re in movie nine and first now does there exist female Stormtroopers that isn’t Phasma!!
Threepio’s wipe is sad and I liked it, but I feel that they made it a little too sad, considering it was afterwards mostly played as a joke and then they gave him his memories back
Hux the spy
Again, Chewie should have remained dead, but whatever.
I have no problem with Hux as the spy, I was just sitting in the theater mumbling ‘Fulcrum’ while my brother was looking at me weirdly, but what I don’t like is what they did with it.
For Hux just to be shot by some General we’ve never met before is just the equivalent of a letdown, especially since so many people like his characters. Including me, he’s one of the best parts of the Sequels!!
Rey Palpatine
Just so everyone knows, I saw this coming. I mean sure, I still liked the Qui’ra theory more, but when Palps started talking about how he knew who the girl was, then I was just like okay she’s a Palpatine.
What I don’t like is how they don’t talk at all of how this came to be. Like, I don’t even know which one of Rey’s parents who’s Palps child. Who the hell did he fuck?!?!
So yeah, whatever twist, bad execution.
Endor’s Stormtroopers
THIS SCENE IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY I DON’T LIKE REY
They often do this in movies. Heroes have to do something, they can’t do anything at that moment so they have to wait, main Hero does it anyways.
IT’S ANNOYING AS HELL
Finn and the Ex Stormtrooper I can't remember the name of’s bonding moment was cute, but I just kept thinking to myself “Are they siblings? Because it wouldn’t be the first time this has happened,”
Finn getting mad at Poe is weird as shit and I don’t like it.
Dark Rey vs Rey
Huge letdown didn’t like it next
Rey vs Kylo, final battle
It was...fine, I guess. I like that Rey fucking stabbed him, that was cool.
Leia dying to redeem Kylo was dumb! I get that they needed to kill her off in a natural way and not just off-screen but come on!
Plus, if you would ask me, Kylo didn’t need a redemption arc. I think he should have died. As a bad guy.
Han Solo And Lightsaber Toss
Han Solo talking to Kylo was cool, though how does it work?? Was it a vision? Luke manipulations the force? Kylo only saw what he wanted to see?
That Kylo just tossed his lightsaber was symbolic and stuff, but a really stupid decision from his part. How are you gonna protect yourself now, huh? THE FORCE?!?!
Rey going into Exile
THIS SCENE WAS FUNNY AS SHIT!!
Just, Rey, thinking that every Jedi goes into exile, when they don’t feel like dealing with it anymore, and she’s fucking right!!! Yoda, Obi-Wan And Luke would be proud!!!!
Luke’s force ghost also has nearly identical hair to Anakin, which is adorable. Dunno how many that noticed that, since the people I’ve talked with about the movie didn’t, but that was literally all I could think about.
Knight Leia
When Rey picked up her lightsaber, my brother beside me was like “That’s Luke’s green one!” And I got mad because that’s not his lightsaber design at all. Know your facts bro!
That Leia was a Jedi is understandable, I mean was Luke not going to train her? But I’ve always seen her that she could use the force, but didn’t use a lightsaber because she’s badass.
I kinda also wanted her blade to be purple? I think it would have fit her much better, as she is probably the most balanced Jedi we’ve had for a while and she’s got a lot of anger that little Skywalker, but blue works fine I guess. Better than green.
Star Wars Endgame
I liked this scene, it was cool, Artoo got something to do, and Finn and Rose riding those horse thingies is an inside joke between those two at this point, convince me otherwise.
Lando And Chewie arriving though, and the First Order stating that they are “just people”, was really beautiful. Cool scene all and all.
Rey and Palpatine
Palps is still quoting himself! He fucking said “Do It” JJ knows what’s up!!
One thing that I’ve been trying to figure out since I saw the movie was what the hell was Palps’ goal? He said for Rey to strike him down (Said the same to Luke, is he suicidal??) and then he would become? Apart? Of her? What?
I’m sorry, but that doesn’t make any sense.
Kylo vs Knights of Ren
So these are Kylo’s guys, right? His inquisitors, per say.
Except these used to be Jedi, his clanmates, his friends.
So why the kriff did they all turn against him like that?? AND WHY DID HE JUST FIGHT THEM BLINDLY DUDE THESE WERE YOUR FRIENDS!!
If I could have changed anything in this movie that has nothing to do with ships, then it would be that at least ONE of the knights would have supported Kylo and not just blindly turned against him.
Though I must say, Rey giving Kylo Luke’s lightsaber through their bond, was pretty badass.
Palpatine steals Kylo and Rey’s bond
The. Fuck.
WHAT KIND OF FORCE POWER IS THAT?!?!
IF YOU CAN JUST STEAL A JEDI’S FORCE BOND, WHY DIDN’T YOU DO THAT WITH ANAKIN AND OBI-WAN PALPS?!?!? HUH?!?!?!
But for real, stupid decision, could have gone without it.
Jedi Rey vs Sith Palps
It was cool, a cool moment, I sat excitedly and whispered to my brother all the voices I recognized, I think Ahsoka could be heard??
...
I looked it up and yeah her voice is there, which means that she’s dead R.I.P Snips.
One of the better scenes of the movie, though I think it’s cheating because of nostalgia and love for these characters.
(I LOOKED UP WHICH THE VOICES WERE, AND WE’VE GOT FRICKING AAYLA SECURA, LUMINARA UNDULI, ADI GALLIA AND KANAN JARRUS!!!)
Reylo
*Sigh*
Ya know, I really hoped this wouldn’t happen. I almost wanted to skip this, and really make all the Reylo fans mad.
But I have to talk about this.
This kiss, should not have happened.
Now if you are a Reylo shipper, that’s good for you, I ship way stranger things than that, but to actually make it canon?!?!
Kylo having a crush or something for Rey? Sure, I can understand that’s he’s pretty much obsessed at this point. But for Rey, badass Rey who is pretty lesbian, to have feelings for Kylo? THIS IS NOT A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP PEOPLE!!
And that they made a toxic relationship canon, but not a gay one, really says something about Star Wars doesn’t it.
Death of Kylo
I laughed out loud during this scene. Not joking, people around me were annoyed. And that his clothes didn’t disappear? Is Kylo a naked force ghost? Did he do that for Rey?
Wait
Don’t answer.
Happy Rebels
The Lesbian couple that kissed was obviously queerbaiting, and you should never praise that, but that is probably all we will get Gays, so let’s just take it and cry on the inside.
Is that Stormtrooper gal Lando’s daughter? Because my brother whispered that to me, and I got those vibes too. Or is she way older than what she looks like and we were supposed to see her as a love interest?
The hug was cute.
Rey Skywalker
I will never accept this as canon ever.
To see the moisture farm again was nice, I liked that.
And for Rey to finally have her own lightsaber, and a yellow one too (I read a fanfic where she had a yellow one, was that like pre-seen??).
But the Skywalker thing...eh.
I would have found it cute if she’d said Rey Palpatine, as if she’d embraced her origin and decided that the name Palpatine isn’t just to be afflicted with the emperor, but also with her, the last Jedi.
Also, did she go into exile? Because damn, those Jedi do that a lot!
All in all, I liked this movie! I wasn’t bored a single bit while watching it, as there was always something going on, and I like when that happens. I don’t think that had happened since Empire with a Star Wars movie.
It isn’t in my top three, but it’s up there, and better than The Last Jedi.
Though I must say, they did take some things from Return of the Jedi and put it in this movie, specifically the ending.
Though I must say, and don’t hate me for this, it was better than Return of the Jedi okay bye

An entirely objective rewiew of episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Legend: red is bad (or rather: dumb shit I can't ignore), blue is objective good, black is neutral and orange is random shit I love (aka subjective good).
Okay, the exposition following the title crawl just makes me feel like I've somehow missed a movie, or two. All of this happened in the span of, what? A couple months? A year? We aren't told.
I was going to ask why Kylo Ren was even looking for Palpatine in the first place, but you know what? I don't really care. I won't complain about Ben in this movie.
Palpatine can see the future, right? That's the only way this makes sense. I mean, he's telling Kylo to "kill the girl" (and presumably become Emperor of the Galaxy?) but... why? Later, he'll want Rey to kill him and become Empress, but then he'll just want to kill her, too. Is Palpatine an idiot, or is he just insane?
"She's not who you think she is." Honey, she's not who the screenwriters thought she'd be.
I genuinely love the Finn/Poe/Chewy/Rey dinamic in this movie. They don't feel like friends yet (which they shouldn't), but there's still a camaraderie and genuine caring for one another there. It's great.
"How do we thank you?" - "Win the war."
Rey is a badass, as per usual. Also, I love how Kylo's just fucking with her here. That girl could cut him in half.
"Somehow Palpatine returned." The 'somehow' is a key word there.
Oh, good, Rose is a non-character now.
While I adore the actors' chemistry, Rey doesn't really need this big of a party to come with her. Chewy's the co-pilot, so his presence is justified, then Finn could come as well and use the blasters, Poe too, because him and Finn didn't get enough screentime in the last movie, but the droids? No. Have them stay with Leia. We don't need C-3PO explaining everything to us, thank you very much.
Oh, yeah. That reminds me.
C-3PO.
They're foreshadowing C-3PO and Leia's deaths so hard here.
The mother-daughter dinamic between Leia and Rey is good. That's all.
That mask was left in pieces. Is it even possible to fix at this point?
Oh, cool, the Knights of Ren exist. For about three minutes of screentime.
The humor in this movie works pretty well for me. Hux's assurance that Kylo looks, in fact, great, is gold.
The New Guy.
"Serving another master?" - "No." Um, yeah? Yeah, you are. What is your plan, Kylo Ren? Because, to me, it see that y- Oh, yeah, I've promised to leave him be. Shit.
A simple conversation would have made this movie so much shorter and so, so much better. "Oh, hey, Rey. Where you off to?" - "Yo, Ben. Oh, you know, looking for Palpatine so that I can kill him." - "Oh, cool. That was my plan, too. Wanna come with?" - "Sure." - "He's your grandfather, btw." - "Cool. Wanna rule the Galaxy?" - "Sure.
Rey's over here casually cutting ships into pieces.
Also, I love how people complain that Rey is OP in this scene, while Kylo just strolls away from a burning husk of a ship, unscathed.
"The inscription that was on the dagger is in your memory?" Yeah, that's how computers works, Poe.
Also, I love how no one cares about shat C-3PO thinks/wants. These characters and this script dislike him as much as I do.
The No-Thank-You droid is adorable.
"You were a spice runner?" - "Were you a Stormtrooper?"
Babu Frik. Baby Yoda ain't got nothing on this guy.
Daisy Ridley is sooo so good in this movie.
"Does she do that to us?"
"I pushed you in the desert-" Baby, you struggled in the desert.
The directing of this scene is so good!
"I'm the spy." (I love it 'cause it makes me laugh. Hux is such a petty little shit that he'll join the Resistance just to see Kylo lose. I appreciate that."
Rey being a Palpatine bothers me about as much as the CGI Carrie Fisher, which is to say: a little bit.
"People keep telling me they know me; I'm afraid no-one does" with Kylo Ren's leitmotif playing in the background. *chef's kiss*
That blade is the most plastic-looking thing I've ever seen. (The Wayfinder)
"Babu Frik! He's one of my oldest friends." Alright, 3PO, that was pretty funny.
I have literally nothing to say about the next fifteen minutes, or so. I feel bad for these actors. Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver have gorgeous chemistry, and though they're trying their damndest, you can kind of tell that they're weary of these movies by now.
Two words: Harrison fucking Ford.
This scene.
"I know what I have to do, but I don't know if I have the strength to do it."
Good job, honey. Now you have no weapon for the final battle. Takes after Anakin, this one.
Every ship is a Star Destroyer.
"A Jedi's weapon deserves more respect."
The reverse Kylo Ren leitmotif that's within Rey's theme playing while Rey is wondering why everyone trusts her despite her being a Palpatine is kind of cute.
As I watch the Resistance/First Order battle unfold, I can't help but wonder why they can't just- sign a peace treaty. How long has this war been going on for? Surely, they must've gotten bored of fighting.
Oh, but I do love the design of Palpatine's throne.
"I never wanted you dead. I wanted you here." I feel like you don't really know what you want, sir.
I love how confused Rey looks while Palpatine talks about how much she apparently hates him.
Ben's just been chillin' for the past 20-ish minutes. I like the redeemed theme they've made for him, though.
Why are the Knights of Ren here? They should be loyal to their Master, no? Also, Ben, honey, you have the Force. You've used it in the first movie to stop a blaster shot mid-air. Surely, levitating six people way up in the air, then letting them fall into the chasm below can't be much more difficult.
This battle. Also, I love how the Knights back the fuck up when Rey sends Ben the saber.
And now he wants to be the Emperor. WHAT DO YOU WANT?!
Ow. That's- that's a broken spine right there. Good thing our dude's indestructable.
I realize I'm quoting Sideways here, but seriously, why don't they play the Force Theme when Rey communicates with every Jedi ever?
The final scene between Ben and Rey (minus the kiss - y'all know how I feel about shoehorned romance). It's still so, so beautiful. This scene is more beautiful than this movie - nay, this franchise - deserves.
Oh, is the Stormtrooper lady Lando's daughter? That's... You know what, actually? I don't care.
The ending is so damned strange. She just returned to Jakku, disposes of Leia's and the Skywalker lightsabers (rude!), steals BB-8 and just- nothing.
I do like her new lightsaber, though. It suits her.
Yeah, there's one Skywalker missing next to Luke and Leia. I guess that Rey just didn't give a shit about him, huh? Oh, well.
This movie is odd to me. Many people hate it, some like it, but I'm in this in-betweeny stage. I like it more than The Last Jedi, but only because I don't observe these two movies as agregates, but more as collections of good and bad scenes (since they both feel scrapped together), and thus, RoS just has more elements which I like, though it's objectively the worst movie of this trilogy. Rey is the best she's ever been, Ben Solo is *chef's kiss*, Poe is awesome, Finn is... there (the underdevelopment of this character is still the worst thing they've done), but he does have some good moments, some of the side characters are pretty great (the long helmet lady and Babu Frik come to mind immediately), the music is always a highlight and... yeah.
As for the negatives, Palpatine is right up there. His plan is stupid. That's all I'm gonna say about that. Other than that and the demolition of Rose Tico, everything else are nitpicks for me. This movie could have been great only if they'd scrapped this story entirely and either:
a) made an entirely new movie and utilized some of the original concepts they had, or
b) made at least two new movies with the ideas presented here.
Overall, I've enjoyed this movie. It's one of those movies which I can watch after a long day of studying to relax my brain a bit, one that is supposed to be thought about as much as the scriptwriters have done - which is to say, a bit.

CHAPTER IV
- Why do you think I let myself be captured? - Kylo asked casually.
Standing in front of Rey, Kylo folded his lips in a fleeting amused smile. Rey stared at him, raising an eyebrow. -Oh well, maybe I just wanted to meet you in person ... to see you and touch you live ... I was tired of remote connections - he continued in a light tone. Rey darkened, glaring at him with a glance. Excruciating pain in head he had caused her with his constant attempts to force their connection was still alive. Kylo seemed to read her mind. He frowned, taking on a stern expression. -I warned you not to resist when things like that happen. You could have died! - He finished, thundering. Rey was startled in spite of herself, hearing his voice rumbling in room almost to shake walls. She looked around to see if boy's tone had attracted anyone, but nobody appeared. Rey turned against him, like a tiger whose foot was trodden. -You used me, betrayed me, tried to manipulate me, why on earth would I have to reopen the connection? I repeat what I said to you under torture: I won’t give you anything! - Rey growled at him. Kylo blinked in surprise, opening his mouth in amazement. His surprise lasted a blink, then his face hardened. Kylo took a slow step towards Rey. She held her breath, stiffening, but refused to let emotion leak. -I don't remember doing anything like that. I thought you were going to be on my side. You were trusting me, we were on same wavelength, instead you abandoned me! You turned against me, you attacked me like a coward! - He growled, trying to dominate her. - I turned against you? - Rey repeated, hissing and clenching her eyes and fists
- I'm not your dog!- She snapped indignantly. -I'm not even a murderess! You demanded I turn away while you massacred innocent people, my friends and even your mother! - Rey looked him in eyes, challenging him. Kylo swallowed heavily, without breaking eyes contact. - Now you're even killing children ... you suck me! - She screamed. He turned his face to one side, as if Rey had slapped him. Supreme Leader stared back at her, folding his mouth in a bitter smile. -Once again you think you know everything ... I thought I taught you to investigate thoroughly before sentencing ... - -It’s Knights of Ren who carry out murders and, if I'm not mistaken, they only obey you ... - Rey replied in a biting tone. -Um, yes ... well, let's talk later, do you want? Now we have to go - Kylo said absently, looking quickly at a black leather strap that he wore on his right wrist and Rey noticed only at that moment. She frowned. He had a bad feeling about that strange bracelet. -You are so impulsive ... you think always later ... - Kylo observed.
Rey took a step back, as the feeling of danger grew stronger. Bringing a hand behind her back, the young woman slowly drew her lightsaber, lighting it, while keeping her eyes fixed on him. Kylo absently looked at weapon Rey held in her hand. Supreme Leader smiled, taking on an air between bored and benevolent. Suddenly, handcuffs around Kylo's wrists fell to his feet, with a dull thud that made a shiver run down Rey's spine. She felt freezing, looking at Kylo's free hands. Moving fast, he kicked cuffs away from him and Rey, then, he grabbed her wrist. Rey felt as if he was squeezing her wrist and instinctively dropped lightsaber. Kylo picked up weapon, tucking it into his belt, while spinning Rey on himself, imprisoning her with one arm. Rey tried to free himself in any way. - Ah! - She screamed, feeling a pain in her arm. Kylo's grip felt like steel. -You're hurting yourself. You can't even use Force here - he advised her quietly as he looked around. Rey saw him raise one hand and draw handcuffs to him. Her eyes widened, she sensed his intentions and started fighting again. Kylo didn’t loosen his grip. Following her body movements, Supreme Leader surrounded Rey with other arm, hardly managing to block her wrists in anti-Force handcuffs. -You didn't thought I was present while Luke was building this cell. I know his tricks and, then, I can get by even without Force - Kylo whispered in Rey's ear, smiling and blocking her against him. She could feel her back press against Supreme Leader's wide chest, but she refused to linger on that fact.
-I can do better without Force, because I have lived longer than you, without even knowing I have it! - Rey replied firmly. Kylo grimaced, shrugging. -True ... - he murmured absently.
Suddenly, a deafening explosion caused wall behind them to collapse. Rey jumped, closing her eyes, while Kylo turned his face, quietly contemplating collapsed wall, while a broad and rudimentary opening was formed in its place. Sweating coldly, Rey watched a handful of Stormtroopers rush in and go up prison stairs, while a man dressed in black, wearing a helmet made from a blast furnace plate stopped beside Kylo Ren. Shivering, with a grimace of disgust, Rey noticed newcomer was carrying a huge cannon on his arm, modified almost beyond belief and concussion grenades on his chest. -Cardo - Kylo addressed him, with a dark and serious expression. - On time - - Thanks, Ren. I only carried out your orders - other replied dryly. Rey sensed change in Kylo Ren. From moment wall had collapsed, Kylo seemed to have raised another, impenetrable, wall inside him, but she had no time to think about it. Gunshots, screams and excited voices ripped Rey from his thoughts. Battle raged on floor above them. Rey's mind worked fast. Two men had talked about orders and schedules, but for two days, Kylo had been their prisoner, how he... memory of strange bracelet she had noticed on boy's wrist came back to Rey's mind. A transmitter, that's what it was, how stupid! Rey closed her eyes, blaming herself. “It isn’t your fault. I remind you, for a while, you have been out of game... " Kylo's voice reached her head loud and clear, as if he had spoken, instead he was communicating telepathically. - Did you find what you were looking for? - Cardo asked Kylo Ren - In part- he replied, nodding towards Rey. -I think it will be longer than expected. Call soldiers back, I don't want to ... - - REYYY! REY! - Finn's anxious voice interrupted Kylo’s words. The trio turned their eyes to access stairs. Rey held her breath. With wide eyes, she watched Finn fly down stairs, turning to shoot two Stormtroopers on his heels, before looking at Rey. The boy looked in pure horror at his handcuffed friend, held locked by an arm of Supreme Leader. -Leave her alone!- Finn screamed, frowning, his flashing black pupils, pointing blaster he held in his hand towards Kylo Ren. Supreme Leader remained in hush, staring calmly at ex former Stromtrooper. -Call the men. Let's go - Kylo ordered, turning his head towards Cardo.
He brought a transmitter in front of his mouth, ordering handful of soldiers to return. Kylo turned his back on Finn, starting to move towards breach in wall Cardo had previously opened, dragging Rey with him. She stumbled over her feet, but just holding her tight, Kylo prevented her from falling. -Stop! - Finn yelled again, arming his blaster - Finn! Rey! - Poe's voice came to Rey's ear.
The pilot stopped beside his friend, also drawing his weapon and pointing it at Kylo's back. Young target sighed, continuing to walk. Behind them rhythmic footsteps of the returning Stormtroopers were heard. Soldiers passed Kylo, Rey and Cardo, pouring into hole in the wall. - Teacher! Teacher! - Two infant voices joined those of Finn and Poe. Rey stopped instantly. Struggling to free herself, she managed to turn to the children. -Milo, Cleena! Get out of here! Be safe! - Rey yelled, agitated.
Without letting go her, Kylo saw two children staring at him. One was small, blond, with blue eyes open and curious. Kylo narrowed his mouth feeling a big Force power, but also serenity and calm emanated from boy. He was struck by girl eyes, whom Rey had called Cleena. Force also flowed powerful in her. Biting her lower lip, girl stared at him from bottom up, with a dangerous light in her dark brown eyes. Curly and long hair of a reddish brown fell on her shoulders like a fiery mane. She couldn’t have been more than ten years old, but she seemed already pervaded by a deep anger. A fury Supreme Leader recognized had only one goal. Him.
Cardo raised his cannon arm, aiming it at group in front of them. - If you want, I'll sweep them away ... - he said, turning to Kylo. -Yuo damn killer! - Rey roared, fighting against Kylo's grip in an attempt to assault Cardo. Taken by surprise, Ren's Knight stepped back, whistling with admiration towards Rey. - You captured a proud tiger ...- he observed, watching Kylo struggle to keep hold of Rey. -Rey! Get away from him! - Finn yelled, trying to aim. He gave up nervously. Kylo Ren didn’t loosen his grip on Rey, making it impossible to shoot him without hitting her. Suddenly, an idea hit Finn's mind. Rey had once explained to him Jedi healed wounds. Dark Side adepts lost, however, this ability when they succumbed to evil. So maybe ... he could hit Kylo by hurting Rey? Leia was sure to help cure her and he was a great shooter. He could hit her without causing her serious harm. Kylo turned to him, as if he had read his mind. -Really? Would you have courage to do it? I’m amazed at you, FN-2187. Do you hate me so much? - Kylo forced Rey to straighten up and, holding her against him, with his hands under his chin, placed himself with her in front of Finn, challenging him with his eyes and a malicious smile. -Come on, shoot! I'll stop your bullet before it hits us and I'll turn it against you! - Kylo urged him. Rey shook her head. -Finn, no. Please. You would die unnecessarily ... - Rey murmured, as a tear ran down her face. Finn looked his friend in eyes, while Milo, Cleena and Poe stared at him waiting for a sign would reveal their friend's intentions, causing them to act accordingly. Kylo chuckled bitterly. -You don't know what he was going to do to you ... - he whispered in Rey's ear. - Bastard! You know very well that I ... I ... - Finn growled, still pointing the blaster at Kylo. -Stop! - A sweet but firm voice shook everyone in the room, as if waking them from a dream, dissipating tension in room. Cardo also seemed impressed. His arm also lowered, without him noticing. Leia appeared in room, as the sunniest of apparitions. Rey sensed a change in Kylo. Young man swallowed empty. -Let go Rey- Leia ordered, putting her hands on Cleena's shoulders and staring her son in eyes, with a resolute expression. -You lost, General Organa. Accept defeat and my magnanimous gesture - Kylo replied becoming, if possible, even darker. -I'll let you live- he added, looking away from woman in spite of himself.
Rey watched scene silently, sweating cold, confused. At that moment, Kylo looked like a boiling volcano. That was first time mother and son met after he killed Han Solo. Rey felt like she was skewered by a thousand daggers. One more cruel and painful than other, but emotion didn’t belong to her, but to Kylo Ren. Supreme Leader seemed to be pierced by a thousand lightsabers and each hit a deep wound. Rey staggered. -Enough! - She heard herself say, as if her voice didn't belong to her. Everyone stopped, staring at her. Rey turned his head, looking up at Kylo. -Let them go and I'll come with you - Rey proposed slowly. -No, Rey! - Finn and Poe snapped in unison -Rey ... no need ... - Leia's voice and expression softened. Kylo shrugged. -Unlike what you think, I don't like blackmailing people and I don't like being made fun of ... - Kylo replied, staring in Rey’s eyes. -I'm not setting you a trap - Rey defended herself. - Okay, then... - Kylo let go of Rey.
She wobbled in surprise at act. Supreme Leader moved a hand and Rey's wrists were free of anti-Force handcuffs. -Please, let's go - Kylo moved a hand, indicating to walk in front of him. Rey felt her eyes fill with tears as she contemplated her friends for last time. -Leia ... - she whispered, bringing a hand to her chest. Woman smiled, nodding. General Organa's eyes moved to his son's face, studying him openly. Kylo returned, watching her sideways, then he bent to pick up handcuffs, while Rey passed in front of him. Kylo put a hand on girl's back, guiding her to exit. -Teacher! - Cleena shouted, moving to chase Rey.
A small, chubby hand closed around the girl's wrist, holding her back. Cleena turned around, surprised to find was Milo who blocked her. Boy looked at his friend with a smile, then turned to Leia and nodded.

Rey felt empty and disoriented as she walked with her back straight and her chin up in front of Kylo, wiping away every minute tears burned her eyes. Ever since they left Resistance base, young Supreme Leader hadn't spoken, standing behind her, still holding one hand on her back. Nodding, Kylo had ordered Cardo to walk in front of Rey, closing off any escape routes for her. But Rey didn’t  want to escape. They had been walking in forest for two hours and, although trained, Rey was exhausted. Multitude of emotions felt that day had exhausted her. From moment they captured Kylo, she had suspected something strange, but would never have thought of ending up in trap. The line stopped. Rey saw soldiers pass them and run forward. Cardo turned to Kylo. - The Finalizer isn’t far away, with your permission Ren, I would go and prepare everything for departure ... - he announced. Kylo nodded. Cardo moved away and Rey was alone with Kylo. - If you believe I will submit to you, then you have not understood anything ... - without turning around, Rey warned Kylo with his teeth gritted. A disturbance in Force drew both attention. Rey didn't have time to focus. Coming from behind, Kylo locked her wrists again with anti-Force handcuffs, also harnessing her perception. Ignoring her bad looks and grimaces of annoyance, he lifted Rey in his arms, following last stretch separated them from his ship on foot. Not far away, two powerful shadows followed them.
