ā€œOyā€¦ā€ FRAN muttered almost comically, widened eyes looking towards the still empty halls while she realized what she did. Shit. She took a quick turn, steps turning into quicker ones, heels echoing through the room. From one second to the other, she was pushing the kitchen door open, running behind the counter, ā€œIf Mr. Sheffield asks, Iā€™m not here!ā€ She exclaimed, not even turning to look at the person that was in the room, feet moving fast. For all she knew, Maxwell could be in that room already, but she did not thought of that while she escaped. Before things could turn around, she tried to ran upstairs.

Yandere Omega father x beta reader how would you perceive this?
I am thinking..single omega father that is completely out of mind, the only thing he knows for certain is that he loves you more than anything!
You're his gift, his pride and joy, the one blessing he was given out of years of strife
He doesn't mean to make things hard for you, truly, it's just that you're his baby! You shouldn't have to lift a finger around the house, don't worry, dad has it covered (and if you have a tough time getting a starter job because you're embarrassed that you don't know how to do basic tasks, you where silly for wanting to work in the first place)
Dating has been a no-go for him for a very long time, omega father needed all his attention to be on you, it's important for pups to have lots of care! Really, he just despises the idea of anyone else taking on a parental role in your life
If he were to ever start dating again, he's so nitpicky that there's rarely a second date if he even got through the first. He gets so anxious being away, his poor puppy is home by themselves :(( they have to be devested that he isn't there with them, he can just imagine them curled up in his nest waiting for him to get back like a good kid.. (insert shot of reader having the time of their life chugging energy drinks and watching all the movies that were 'too inappropriate'... jk, the weirdo probably has nanny cams everywhere)
He isn't above the worst kinds of manipulation to get you to stay with him
Sobbing, choking on air breakdowns that make you worry to the core.. bawling his eyes out about you not caring about him, hating him (you just wanted to visit a friend)
Escalating, especially if it's about you eventually moving out. He's desperate, fear clawing at his chest as he sobs that he should just die then, that he'll wither away because his precious baby doesn't want their dumb father anymore
Sometimes, the bouts swing into fits of anger that have you crying. He doesn't yell, not really, but who wants the only parent they have telling them that they gave up their entire lives for them and now you're throwing all that away? That it's your fault your dad suffered for years, didn't eat because he had to make sure you did, and here you are walking away like he means nothing to you, ungrateful brat..
He never means it, of course! It's just that.. dad gets really upset when you talk about things of that nature, sweetie, and it is true to an extent that he sacrificed everything for you, weren't you being a little selfish now that you think about it? Come here, he'll dutifully wipe away those yucky tears so you can go cuddle and forget what a stupid thing you said, it's like nothing ever happened! :D

Endeavor Deserves No Sympathy!
I don't understand how anyone can think Endeavor was ever a good dad. It also always comes off as incredibly victim blamie, especially towards Touya, and often Shoto too.
He literally only got married and had kids to use them. He never gave a shit about their well being, never even thought about it until he had the one thing he cared about and was still miserable. I've already gone over the math proving he gave up on achieving his dream himself at 21 at the absolute latest. (https://www.tumblr.com/arceus-insanity/763259515356512256/i-liked-endeavors-character-when-he-was?source=share)
And basic math will once again be used to prove just how little this waste of flesh actually tries.
This time the focus is on how quickly he abandoned Touya and immediately went to emotional abuse via neglect & literally replacing him, and once again risking that more children be born with self-destructive quirks.
For context we only see Endeavor doing anything with his kids that's not him literally walking through and ignoring them in two circumstances. Once when Fuyumi's a newborn and Touya is attempting to crawl (not walk) over to her. And training. Those are the only times he tries to spend with any of them, even after he starts his 'atonement'
Now comparing Touya in the scene of them training and himself as a toddler and all the child imagery this series loves to use instead of actually saving imperfect victims, Touya is at least 3 (probably closer to 4) when he's taken to the doctor and they are informed of his condition
Natsuo is 4 and a half years younger than him.
We know for a fact Natsuo (& Shoto) was conceived after they got the news, not willingly either. Pregnancy takes 40 weeks average, so Touya would still be 3 when Natsuo was conceived. So once again it took this 'man' less than a year to give up and have another child he hoped to use as a tool, and was explicitly making to hurt his existing son. And as I have said plenty of times before, risking that the new kids could be born with the same disorder, I hate how convenient it is that Shoto gets near zero negative quirk side effects.
Want to know what we never see, Endeavor doing something else with Touya and Touya demanding training, it's always him walking past/ away from Touya. Considering all of the shit they've pulled to soften Endeavor's abuse both in the manga and even more so in the anime, they wouldn't skip something like this. It's not hard to tell that Touya's 'obsession with training' is really about spending time with his dad, you know like a human child that literally needs love, proven by numerous studies and research in the real world.
He throws all parenting responsibilities onto Rei, adds more children to that load, and when Touya suffers for it (like everyone else) he does nothing, doesn't even hire a nanny
Another are you kidding me take I've seen is that somehow Touya's quirk issues are worse than Midoriya's and Yuga's. Touya managed to train his quirk to produce blue fire at 13 with zero equipment and less than no help, and only lost control of it, because of the mental abuse Endeavor had inflicted on him leading him to a mental breakdown. And/ or the theory I've only seen once of AFO using his ability to force quirk activation (seen with a passed out chapter 90 during his first confrontation with All Might)
Midoriya was breaking his bones all the way into the Shie Hassaikai arc and was only able to fight because Eri and was breaking support equipment in the following arc as well. Yuga had a support belt all the way back in the entrance exam and was still struggling with that.
Speaking of Yuga let's compare parental effort here, because as much as it backfired Yuga's parents tried a whole lot more. For starters they nearly bankrupted themselves to get him a quirk, so he could feel equal. All For One is a mythic man prior to his arrest, and those who knew of him were shown to be serious long-term villain groups, so they had gone to quite a bit of effort to find that he existed to begin with. They also got him support gear (the navel belt thing) as a kid to help him with said quirk, he literally had it in the entrance exam. Endeavor never looked into that, Endeavor is not only rich too but he's a top hero he would have direct access to support equipment companies that would jump at the opportunity and it never even occurred to him.
Endeavor's name is an irony as endeavour means to try hard to do or achieve something. He never tries hard he gives up incredibly quickly the second there's any road block, but instead of moving on he makes everyone suffer for it. He's a toxic pageant mom who'd rather force their child into a toxic world and a role they don't want than work on himself
And what finally makes him change? Getting exactly what he wanted and still being miserable, and he still expects through his actions his family to cater to him.
Not his son getting a major disability due to his actions, no, he decided to double down, mentally abusing and neglecting the son he supposedly loves, raping his wife who didn't want more kids or participate in this abuse, and again risking that Natsuo & later Shoto might have that same issue. Not when his wife breaks down and permanently scars his precious masterpiece, who proceeds to rightfully blame him, and he just thinks of it as a tantrum despite it lasting a fucking decade. Not when his eldest literally dies as the result of his selfishness. Not literally during any part of this entire process!
Dabi is 23 when Endeavor finally starts to 'try' to be better, that means that for at least 24 years he has only been caring about his fucking precious number one spot in a popularity contest that he couldn't even bother to try to be likeable for, this wasn't one bad decision, this was him constantly choosing to be so insanely selfish that he found ways that shouldn't even be possible for over two decades. And it was all him.

Sylvain skipped many of his lessons, including training and other time allotted for practice and study, which by how had only contributed to his already less than stellar reputation. In his eyes however, that wasnā€™t exactly a problem, if anything closer to the opposite, more than anything. The more they think heā€™s a low effort piece of nothing, the better.
Not to say it didnā€™t hurt.Ā
But heā€™d rather ignore a wound and live in a peace only he could understand than to find a way to patch it up only to risk cutting an entire limb off. Some pains are better off being lived with until they blended with normalcy.
Yet that didnā€™t mean he skipped every single lesson or class work- in the end Sylvain was very aware of his current responsibilities and heā€™d walk within the limits he could push, but the mission he had been assigned to for the time being was one only a fool wouldā€™ve skipped. Sadly no girls were included in the matter, but perhaps it was something even better. Something that wouldnā€™t look at him with opportunistic eyes and feign hurt at getting toyed with, something that wouldnā€™t see him as an easy win lottery ticket. Something cute, soft, and tiny that would provide him with more glee than most people could and ask for almost nothing save for the basics for survival and love in return.
Puppies.
Wolf puppies- but puppies nonetheless.
ā€œIf every lesson included training puppies, Iā€™d be the top student of the Blue Lions in no time!ā€ Sylvain commended with a carefree smile as one of the staff tasked with the wolves handed him some last pieces of ā€˜equipmentā€™, that being tools to clean the kennel stall and some toys. ā€œIā€™m gonna have a buddy for this too, right? I hope itā€™s a cute girl, this would count as a date! Girls love men caring for baby animals!ā€
With one finalā€¦eyeroll and mildly annoyed glance, the staff member left and Sylvain sat down in one of the stall corners, smiling as soon as a couple of the furballs went over to smell and lick him. It truly was the perfect lesson. Indeed, if only his tasks were something like thisā€¦though he was quick to return on his act as soon as he heard steps approaching where he was. Heavy yet not brute, a cadence that by now he had memorized. Looking up with a puppy in his arms, Sylvain met his fatherā€™s gaze.
ā€œFather! Heyā€¦look, this is a mission I was assigned to, ok? Iā€™m not slacking off, you can check with the staffā€¦ā€ The boy had already begun his defense before looking down and spottingā€¦something in Matthiasā€™. Hands. A kit similar to the one he had received, though with some extra dog toys. A moment passed, in silence.
ā€œ...wait, youā€™re not going to be my partner for this, are you? Itā€™s fine if you are! But I justā€¦didnā€™t expectā€¦ā€ The nervous smile in his face was hard to shake off, even with the young wolves trying to lick his cheek or nibble and pull at his uniform.

A GLASS OF LEMONADE, pinched between long, black nails, drops down into the peripheral of the sweating gardener. Standing above him and offering said drink is none other than Warlockā€™s dearest nanny, her own glass in hand as her black sunhat casts them both in glorious shade from the blistering summer sun.
Itā€™s been a humid, hellish season so far. Satan himself would likely be sweating up an ocean in this heat.
ā Mrs. Hannigan wasnā€™t too pleased with you in this morningā€™s meeting, was she, Brother Francis? āž Mulberry lips quirk up into a smirk. ā I donā€™t believe Iā€™ve ever heard her voice turn that shrill before. WELL DONE. āž
Well done on a jobā€¦ not so well or done. The poor rose bushes, Mrs. Dowlingā€™s favorites, were practically twigs at this point.

Crossed Lines || George Weasley
Tumblr media
Title: Crossed Lines Pairing: Single Dad!George x Nanny!Reader Summary: Crossing the line between professional and personal is always a risk, and this time itā€™s one George is willing to take.Ā  A/N: I love dad!george and you can pry him from my cold dead hands. Feedback is always appreciated! <3
-
George Weasley never imagined his life would turn out this way.Ā
As a man in his mid-20s, he was living the life most would be envious of. For starters he and his brother started their own company as teenagers, and now several years later they are still their own bosses. Not to mention heā€™s a single man, living in central London, free to do whatever and whoever he pleases. He gets to do what he loves, makes his own decisions and he makes enough money to do whatever he wants while also saving enough for his future.Ā
That is until one fateful Tuesday morning, when he answered the door and found a car seat sitting on the welcome mat with the smallest baby girl heā€™d ever seen tucked inside. Whoever left her there was long gone, and when George brought her inside the note that fluttered to the floor revealed him as the father, with whoever wrote it stating that they werenā€™t cut out to be a Mother and the baby was Georgeā€™s problem now.Ā
Two weeks and one paternity test later, George took full custody of his daughter Remi.
Despite having no real hands-on experience with babies, and having no intentions of having children for at least a decade, the second George held that little girl he knew in his heart that he could never give her up. So in the blink of an eye George Weasley went from a single man to a single dad.
Thankfully his family is the best, and rallied around him as he settled into fatherhood. Fred took on more responsibility at work so George could have a more flexible schedule, and his Mum moved in to help him as he learned how to be a Dad. And of course his siblings were always more than eager to babysit when George needed a break.Ā
But now that Remi is six months old, four months after she was dropped off at the front of his brownstone, itā€™s time for his life to resume. He misses work, and while he loves having his Mum around, heā€™s desperately in need of having his privacy back. Not to mention all the parenting books heā€™s consumed over the last few months all talk about how important it is for babies to have a routine, and itā€™s hard getting into one when Georgeā€™s work schedule is in the air and Remi never knows if itā€™ll be her grandmother or her dad getting her up from her nap.Ā
When discussing what childcare arrangements George wanted now that heā€™d be back at work full time and Molly would be back up North, both Fred and his Mother vetoed his idea to just have Remi at work with him all day. Day care seemed like the obvious solution, but even after touring the best rated facility in London George was hesitant. He hated the idea of dropping his daughter off at some strange building everyday, and wasnā€™t too keen on the idea of Remi not being the only child someone was looking after.Ā
So George tasked his Mum with finding him the best Nanny in all of London.Ā
While more expensive than daycare, George liked the idea that Remi would be at home where sheā€™s most comfortable and sheā€™d have her caretakers undivided attention. Not to mention he liked how easy it would be to stop by and get some time with his baby whenever he could sneak away from work.
He left all of the hiring decisions up to Molly, citing his inexperience with raising a child. Who better to pick the person that will be caring for his child than the woman who raised seven of her own kids?Ā
And George didnā€™t regret trusting his mother for a second.Ā
Well until he answers the door on his Nannyā€™s first day, only to find the most beautiful woman heā€™s ever seen standing on his doorstep.Ā
She smiles up at him brightly, and George curses himself for not at least asking his Mum for a picture of his Nanny. All she had told him was that her name is Y/N and she has a degree in early childhood development. Truthfully, when George thought about having a Nanny, he always pictured an older woman who was looking for work now that her children have grown and flown the nest. Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine someone like Y/N standing on his doorstep.Ā
ā€œHi,ā€ she greets awkwardly when George doesnā€™t say anything. ā€œYou must be George, Iā€™m Y/N. Itā€™s a pleasure to meet you.ā€
Snapping out of his daydreams, George gives her a nod. ā€œNice to meet you as well. Come on in.ā€
He steps aside so Y/N can walk through the door, and he has to suppress a shiver when their bodies brush. She canā€™t be much younger than him, and the subtle scent of strawberries wafting from her skin is driving him crazy. George shuts the door a little too hard, before motioning for her to follow him into the living room.Ā
Remi is sitting on the floor supported by some kind of special pillow Fleur bought for him, drool running down her chin as she chews on a toy. George watches as Y/N gets a look at his daughter for the first time, and the smile that takes over her face is breathtaking.Ā
ā€œOh my goodness,ā€ Y/N coos as she approaches, crouching down in front of Remi. ā€œAnd you must be Miss Remi,ā€ she greets, her voice soft and cheery as she reaches out to stroke the babyā€™s cheek. ā€œYour Granny has told me so much about you, Gorgeous. Iā€™m Y/N and I canā€™t wait to get to know you better.ā€
George is a puddle as he watches this woman interact with his child. That little girl is his entire world, and watching people fall in love with her always fills him with pride. Remi giggles as Y/N strokes her tummy and a grin breaks out over Georgeā€™s face.Ā
ā€œShe likes you.ā€
ā€œI like her too.ā€
Remi squeals with joy as George scoops her up in his arms and he presses a kiss to her wet cheek before he places her on his hip. ā€œLet me show you around and get everything sorted before I have to head off to work.ā€
Y/N follows behind George as he gives a quick tour, taking note of where everything is. Which is harder than it should be, since sheā€™s distracted by the adorable baby and the gorgeous man thatā€™s holding her. Molly had shown Y/N dozens of pictures of Remi during the interview process and talked about her nonstop, but she had been pretty silent when it came to her son. All she said was that George was young and had become a father unexpectedly when Remiā€™s mother abandoned the two month old on his porch.Ā
Her heart had broken for the little girl and her father, which made saying yes to Mollyā€™s job offer a piece of cake. And as George points out all of his daughterā€™s favorite things Y/N is sure in her decision to take this job. Itā€™s clear that George doesnā€™t know a lot about being a parent, but itā€™s even more clear that heā€™s trying his best and he loves his daughter with every fiber of his being.Ā
Y/N would be lying if she didnā€™t admit how attractive that is. Seeing this man who so clearly used to live the bachelor life bend over backwards to give his daughter the life she deserves is a major turn on. It doesnā€™t hurt that heā€™s extremely good looking either.Ā
But itā€™s really in her best interest to push those kinds of thoughts away considering the fact that George is her boss and heā€™s trusting her to care for his child. Remi is the only Weasley Y/N will allow herself to fall in love with.Ā
ā€œSo as far as a routine goes, Remi doesnā€™t really have one,ā€ George admits sheepishly as they make their way back into the living room. ā€œWhen she gets cranky we put her down for a nap and when she cries we feed her. We tried, but with my work schedule always changing and my Mum and I switching on and off, nothing we tried ever really stuck.ā€
ā€Thatā€™s what Iā€™m here for,ā€ Y/N reassures him with a smile. ā€œItā€™ll probably take a few days for Remi to settle in from the change and get used to me, but once things settle weā€™ll start putting a routine in. And Iā€™ll write everything down so you can follow it on the weekends as well.ā€
ā€œUgh, youā€™re amazing,ā€ George gushes, and he doesnā€™t miss the way Y/Nā€™s cheeks flush. ā€œOkay well I guess thatā€™s everything. I should head out now.ā€ Heā€™s thankful that Y/N turns away, pretending to look at her phone so he can have a private moment with his daughter.Ā
ā€œI love you Rem-Dog,ā€ George murmurs as he presses his lips to the top of his daughterā€™s head. ā€œI gotta go to work now, but Iā€™m gonna miss you so much. And youā€™re gonna have so much fun with Y/N. Okay, baby?ā€
George kisses his daughter one last time, pressing his nose to the crown of her head and taking a deep inhale of her sweet baby scent before he pulls away and hands Remi off to Y/N.Ā
ā€œCall if you need anything,ā€ George says as he walks towards the door. ā€œMy cell and office number are on the fridge. I should be home by five but Iā€™ll call and let you know if that changes.ā€
ā€Sounds good.ā€ Y/N follows George out, picking up Remiā€™s hand and making her wave. ā€œSay bye to Daddy, Remi. Say donā€™t worry about me, everythingā€™s going to be okay.ā€ Her voice has that same dreamy quality it did when she first greeted Remi, and it immediately puts George at ease.
Y/N stays on the porch while George climbs in his car, bouncing Remi as she makes the little girl wave. He keeps his eyes on them for as long as possible, sighing when they disappear out of view.Ā
-
ā€œWell your first full week back is almost over,ā€ Fred starts as he enters Georgeā€™s office. ā€œHow does it feel?ā€
ā€Fucking exhausting,ā€ George groans, flipping Fred off when he laughs.Ā
Truthfully he really has enjoyed being back in the office. Over the past few months heā€™s been pretty hands off with the business, only coming in for important meetings or for emergencies, and itā€™s nice to get back working on the actual fun parts of his job. But holy hell is George tired.Ā
After being at work all day George heads home, and after a quick pass off Y/N also heads out, putting George on Dad duty for the rest of the night. Which he totally loves after being away from Remi all day, but by the time he gets her fed, bathed and settled in for the night heā€™s absolutely exhausted. It doesnā€™t help that sheā€™s started some kind of sleep regression since he went back to work, so heā€™s up a few times to put Remi back down.Ā
When discussing with his mom what he might want from a nanny, they had discussed whether the position should be a live in one. George had shut that down pretty quickly, adamant that he only wanted someone there when he couldnā€™t be and that he could handle everything else. But after only one week heā€™s already considering asking Y/N if sheā€™d be willing to make that change.Ā
And if part of that is motivated by his craving to spend more time with his nanny it isnā€™t anyoneā€™s business.
The only time he gets to spend with Y/N is the few minutes before he leaves for work when he hands Remi off, and then the few minutes in the evening before they do it again when he gets home. But seeing the way she lights up when she talks about his daughter has George craving her presence every moment of the day.Ā
It helps that Remi seems to be just as infatuated with Y/N as he is. When he got home from work last night, Y/N had gushed about how amazing Remi has been, and that she barely seemed to need an adjustment period. She explained that sometimes babies have difficulties getting used to their parents being away and having a stranger in the house, but from that very first day Remi took everything like a champ.
The photo George has on his phone of Remi fast asleep on Y/Nā€™s chest from Monday afternoon is a testament to that. The little girl has formed a bond with her nanny right from the start, and George knows his daughter would be thrilled to have some more time with Y/N.
ā€œAnd howā€™s the nanny? Still hot?ā€ Fred asks as he plops down in a chair across from Georgeā€™s desk.
ļæ½ļæ½Ugh, fuck. I never should have told you that.ā€
ā€Donā€™t worry, dude. Iā€™d never try and screw one of your employees,ā€ Fred assures. ā€œEspecially one that you wanna fuck too.ā€
George throws a pen at Fred in an attempt to knock the stupid grin off of his face. ā€œI donā€™t wanna fuck Y/N.ā€
ā€Oh right, you wanna kiss her and hold her and date her and make love to her,ā€ Fred teases.
ā€Youā€™re such a fucking prat.ā€ George sighs, shuffling some papers on his desk. ā€œFuck this. Itā€™s Friday and Iā€™m tired and I wanna see my baby. Iā€™m going home early.ā€
Fred stands up as George starts to collect his things. ā€œFine, go back home to your girls. Iā€™ll see you later.ā€
Heā€™s almost out the door when George registers what heā€™s said and he whips a pad of post it notes at his brotherā€™s retreating back. ā€œFucking prick!ā€ He shouts, trying to ignore the bright pink blush on his cheeks.Ā
-
Georgeā€™s decision to ask Y/N to move in is solidified the second he comes through the door.Ā
Remiā€™s cries echo off the walls, and he barely has the door shut behind him before heā€™s barrelling down the hall towards his daughter. When he reaches the living room George stops in his tracks. Y/N is slowly swaying back and forth, quietly murmuring to Remi as she rubs her back soothingly. His daughterā€™s red face is pressed into her nannyā€™s neck and even from across the room George can see how wet her cheeks are.Ā
ā€œIs she okay?ā€ George asks as he approaches, his voice frantic.Ā
Y/N spins around so sheā€™s facing him, an attempt at a grin crossing her face. ā€œTeething,ā€ is her simple reply, and George nods in understanding.Ā
He vaguely remembers when Victorie, his niece, started teething since Bill often came to hang out with Fred and George when he needed a break. Not that George can blame a baby, if he had something sharp cutting through his gums and had no ability to verbalize the pain and ask for help heā€™d be screaming his head off too.Ā
ā€œYeah, my Mum thought she might be close to cutting one in the front.ā€ Y/N passes Remi to him when he holds his hands out, and he immediately cuddles her close to his chest. ā€œItā€™s alright, love. Daddyā€™s here.ā€
Y/N can practically feel her heart melt as she watches George soothe his daughter, and she silently kicks herself when she realizes how attractive it is watching this big man hold a baby. Of course sheā€™s read those books, the ones where the hot single dad and the nanny end up falling in love and becoming a family. But when she graduated from Uni and decided to go into private care over a day care or teaching she had promised herself she would always remain professional.
Except the moment George Weasley opened his front door that notion went right down the drain.Ā
Watching this man be a parent makes her ovaries ache, and in a futile attempt to squander any feelings she may have for George, Y/N has tried to keep their interactions to a minimum. She keeps their hand-offs as brief as possible, showing up in the morning with only a few minutes to spare and exiting so quickly in the evening that George barely has his shoes off before sheā€™s out the door.Ā
The last thing she needs is to fall in love with the man who signs her paychecks.Ā
It doesnā€™t help that Remi is probably the best child sheā€™s ever looked after, and considering she started babysitting at 10 thatā€™s a huge compliment. After only a week she already has formed an attachment to the little girl, and it pains her everytime she has to hand her back at the end of the day. Which usually ends up pissing her off, because how could the woman that gave birth to such a beautiful baby just give that all away?Ā
Apart from todayā€™s teething related meltdown Remi has been nothing but a ray of sunshine. She giggles at everything, and Y/N instantly fell in love with her gummy smile. Sheā€™s also learned that Remi is a baby that loves to cuddle, and she spends most of her afternoon laying on the couch, holding the infant close to her chest as she sleeps.Ā
Sometimes she feels thankful for that horrid woman who gave all of this up, because Y/N is the one who gets to bask in the glow of little Remi. But sometimes those thoughts lead her down the bath of daydreaming what it would be like to be Remiā€™s Mum, and by extension Georgeā€™s wife, and she has to shut them down quickly. Lusting after a life she canā€™t have is not helpful.Ā
ā€œI put some of her teethers in the freezer,ā€ she explains as George starts to sway back and forth in his own attempt to soothe Remi. ā€œThe cold will help soothe and numb the pain, but if you have a hard time getting her to bed you can give her some childrenā€™s tylenol.ā€
Y/N can feel her heart breaking as Remi lets out another wail, hating the fact that she is about to leave when sheā€™s still so upset. She steps closer to George, resting a hand on Remiā€™s back before she leans in to kiss her tear-stained cheek.Ā
ā€œBye, Rem-Dog. Iā€™m going to miss you so much, but you have your dad here with you, yeah? And I know youā€™re in pain but go easy on him, okay? I can feel the anxiety rolling off him,ā€ she pauses to look at George, giving him a teasing wink before she refocuses her attention on the baby. ā€œIā€™ll see you on Monday.ā€
ā€œYou got this, George,ā€ Y/N reassures, giving his arm a squeeze.Ā
She turns to grab her things and head out when a hand closes around her wrist.Ā
ā€œWait, Y/N,ā€ George calls, tugging so she turns to look at him. ā€œThereā€™s actually something I wanted to talk to you about, before you go. I was wondering if youā€™d consider becoming a live-in nanny?ā€ He rushes the question out, clearly nervous.Ā Ā
ā€œYou want me to move in?ā€ Y/N asks, her voice breathy. Immediately she clears her throat, shaking her head to bring her back to reality. This is George asking for more help with his baby, nothing more.Ā
ā€œI do yeah,ā€ George confirms with a nod. ā€œI'm in way over my head, and I could really use the extra help in the evenings. I can tell how attached Remi is to you already, and I know sheā€™d love to have you around more.ā€ He leaves out the fact that heā€™d love to have her around more too, figuring that would be anything but helpful to hear. ā€œIā€™d pay you more, obviously, and youā€™ll still have the weekends off. If youā€™re stuck in a lease I can pay to get you out of it, anything you need.ā€
ā€œIā€™ll do it,ā€ Y/N agrees without even taking a second to think about it.Ā
Is moving in with her hot boss and his incredible daughter probably a bad idea? Absolutely. But with the wide grin George is directing at her itā€™s easy for Y/N to push all of those negative thoughts to the back of her head.Ā
Besides, living here with George and Remi is a good thing, sheā€™ll probably learn all of Georgeā€™s annoying habits and whatever feelings are starting to develop will fade just as quickly as they started.Ā
At least Y/N hopes so.
-
Turns out her plan to use moving in with George as a way to diminish her feelings for him is a failure. An epic, fucking failure.Ā
Because as it turns out, George has no annoying habits.Ā
When he wakes up with Remi in the morning heā€™s quiet, taking extra care to whisper and tiptoe around as to not wake Y/N up before her alarm. When he makes his breakfast he always sets some aside for her as well, and thereā€™s always a fresh pot of coffee waiting. Heā€™s always sure to clean up after himself, to the point where sometimes Y/N forgets he even lives there. And despite the fact that she moved in to help him out more, George is always respectful of her time. When he gets home from work he takes over with Remi, giving Y/N some time for herself. When she takes over again, putting Remi to bed, George always cooks them dinner and they spend the rest of the evening talking and hanging out.Ā
Everyday it feels less and less like sheā€™s his employee helping him care for his daughter and more like theyā€™re a couple caring for their baby together.Ā
Which Y/N knows is a bad thing, and thereā€™s constantly a voice in the back of her head telling her she needs to put up boundaries to keep both George and Remi at arms length. But the more time she spends around them the harder it is. She is quickly discovering that she isnā€™t just attracted to Georgeā€™s looks and his dedication to being a father, but to his personality as well. He has a great sense of humor and such a kind heart, and Y/N finds herself missing his presence when heā€™s not around.Ā
So again, her plan has been an epic failure.Ā
It certainly doesnā€™t help that three weeks into her new live in position, Y/N rushes into the nursery one night to comfort a screaming Remi only to find her boss standing in the middle of the room shirtless as he rocks his daughter.Ā
ā€œOh,ā€ Y/N gasps as she steps in the room, alerting George to her presence. When he spins to face her it takes all of her willpower to keep her eyes focused on his face and not his naked torso. ā€œI just wanted to check and make sure everything is okay.ā€
George swallows thickly, reminding himself that heā€™s got his crying child in his arms and now is not the time to be ogling his nanny. But fuck is it hard. Because Y/N is standing there in the tiniest pair of sleep shorts and the thinnest tank top George has ever seen, her hair still mussed from sleep.Ā
ā€œYeah, everythingā€™s fine,ā€ he mumbles once he finds his composure. ā€œI was hoping to get her back to sleep before she woke you, Iā€™m sorry.ā€
Remiā€™s been cutting two new teeth this week, and itā€™s safe to say sleep has not been something happening here in the Weasley house. He and Y/N have been taking shifts during the night, but he could tell that the lack of sleep was starting to wear her down, so when Remi woke him tonight his sole mission was to soothe her back to sleep as quickly as possible.
ā€œAnd is there a reason why the two of you are half naked?ā€ Y/N teases, and even in the dim light George can see the blush tinting her cheeks.
George shrugs a shoulder, giving her a grin. ā€œI read in a book that skin to skin contact is supposed to help comfort babies.ā€ Truthfully he hadnā€™t even considered the possibility of Y/N coming to help him, so George hadnā€™t given it a second thought when he stripped Remi down to her diaper before he pulled his own shirt off. All he wanted to do was soothe his child, but seeing the way Y/N is having a hard time from looking at his bare chest George is thankful for his actions for a totally different reason.Ā
ā€œIā€™ll have to keep that in mind,ā€ Y/N responds playfully, and she doesnā€™t miss the way Georgeā€™s eyes scan her body. It sends a shiver down her spine, and if there wasnā€™t a crying baby in his arms she certainly would be throwing herself at him.Ā
Over the past few weeks Y/N has had an inkling that the feelings she has are not totally one sided, and the way George is looking at her now is confirmation. Clearly they are both trying to keep from crossing into unprofessional territory for Remiā€™s sake, but sheā€™s not sure how much longer theyā€™ll be able to resist this pull.Ā
ā€œGo back to bed,ā€ George instructs, his voice low.Ā
Y/N nods, her stomach fluttering at the command in his voice. Wanting him to be just as affected as she is, she approaches George, maintaining eye contact as she places one hand on his bare shoulder and the other on his abs. She smiles to herself as he tenses under her touch, leaning in to kiss Remi on the forehead.Ā
ā€œGoodnight, baby girl.ā€
Just as quickly as she was there Y/N is retreating, looking back over her shoulder at George as she lingers in the doorway.Ā
ā€œSweet dreams, George.ā€
As soon as sheā€™s gone George tosses his head back and groans. ā€œGod damnit,ā€ he mumbles. He looks down at Remi, whoā€™s cries have finally started to quiet. ā€œYou two girls will be the death of me I swear.ā€
-
Itā€™s the first sunny day theyā€™ve had in weeks, so when he woke up this fine Saturday morning he decided a picnic in the park was the best way to spend it. Even though itā€™s technically her day off, after heā€™d packed up the food, Remi George had stopped by Y/Nā€™s room to see if she wanted to join them. Much to his delight, a yes was coming out of her mouth before heā€™d really even finished asking.Ā
And as he watches her push Remi in a swing, both of them giggling like crazy, George knows one thing for certain: heā€™s fallen for his nanny. Itā€™s something heā€™s come to terms with in the two weeks it has been since that night in the nursery. After the way she touched and teased him George had an inkling that his feelings for Y/N were mutual, and their interactions these last few weeks have only confirmed it.Ā
For starters, touching has become a normal part of their relationship. Now when they pass Remi back and forth itā€™s normal for their hands to brush, lingering just a few seconds too long. When they sit on the couch together in the evenings Y/N takes the spot right next to him, as opposed to sitting on the opposite end like she had previously. It seems like both of them take every opportunity to be close to the other.Ā
Their conversations seem to have a flirty air to them now too, with both of them taking every opportunity to make the other blush. Not to mention the fact that Y/N is supposed to have the weekends off, and yet she somehow always ends up spending them with George and Remi.Ā
Sometimes George even forgets that Y/N is his employee, because when the three of them are together it just feels like theyā€™re a family. Much to Georgeā€™s pleasure it seems that way to others as well, because on at least four different occasions when the three of them have been out together people have complimented them on how adorable their daughter is, and Y/N has been mistaken as his wife at least a handful of times. Even strangers know that theyā€™re meant to be together.Ā
And George is just waiting for the perfect moment to make it official.Ā
He grins as Y/N starts to head towards him, holding his arms out for the baby.Ā
ā€œDada, dada, dada!ā€ Remi babbles as Y/N places her in his outstretched hands, and it makes his heart burst just like every other time sheā€™s said it.Ā
ā€œHi baby,ā€ George coos, settling Remi down on his lap. He shivers when Y/N takes a seat next to him on the blanket, their sides pressed together tightly from how close she chooses to be. ā€œDid you have fun on the swings?ā€
ā€œYes I did,ā€ Y/N answers for Remi, her voice morphing into the delicate tone she always uses when talking to the baby. ā€œY/N is so much fun, Daddy. So much more fun than you,ā€ she teases.
They both let out a laugh when Remi reaches for Y/N, seemingly confirming her words.Ā
Instead of taking the baby Y/N leans into Georgeā€™s side, holding out both her hands so Remi and grab on to her pointer fingers. George immediately wraps an arm around her waist, pressing Y/N even closer into his chest. It feels so natural that George has to resist his urge to lean in and kiss her on the forehead.Ā
Y/N smiles as Remi tries to shove her fingers in her mouth, keeping her attention focused on the baby so she doesnā€™t get lost in Georgeā€™s eyes. She can feel his gaze on her, and itā€™s taking everything in her not to return it.Ā
She shouldnā€™t even be here right now. Sheā€™d had plans to get brunch with some of her Uni friends, but the second George stopped in the doorway of her room, a stupid smile on his face and his perfect baby in his arms as he invited her on a picnic she couldnā€™t say no. Itā€™s definitely not normal, the amount of time she spends with George and Remi when sheā€™s off the clock, but Y/N stopped caring about that weeks ago. In reality, George could never pay her another cent and sheā€™d still be sitting right where she is.Ā
Which should terrify Y/N, but it doesnā€™t.Ā
ā€œI canā€™t believe how big sheā€™s getting,ā€ George comments, pulling Y/N out of her thoughts.Ā
She hums in agreement. ā€œItā€™s crazy how fast they grow at this age. I swear some days she grows overnight.ā€
ā€œShe looks so much like her mom.ā€
Y/N freezes, just watching George stroke his fingers over the dark, wispy hair that covers Remiā€™s head. Heā€™s never talked about her before, and Y/N would be lying if she said she wasnā€™t curious about the woman who makes up the other half of Remiā€™s DNA.Ā
ā€œMaybe,ā€ Y/N comments, grinning as Remi giggles. ā€œBut she has your eyes and your smile.ā€ When all George does is hum in acknowledgement she continues. ā€œWhat was she like? Remiā€™s mom?ā€
George shrugs as best he can with Y/N pressed against him. ā€œI donā€™t know, really. Which sounds awful. We didnā€™t really spend too much time talking, if you get what I mean. I had totally forgotten about her until Remi showed up on my doorstep and the note from her fell out onto the ground.ā€
ā€œI know I probably shouldnā€™t think ill of someone I donā€™t know,ā€ Y/N says cautiously. ā€œBut it must take an awful person to just abandon their baby. Especially a baby like Remi. I mean, what if you werenā€™t home? Remi would have just been sitting out there on the porch for who knows how long.ā€ She shudders in horror at the thought. ā€œI just canā€™t ever imagine leaving her behind.ā€
The protective tone in her voice drives George crazy in the best way possible. He knows, obviously, that Y/N cares for his daughter, but hearing her be so angry at the woman who abandoned his daughter is something different.Ā
ā€œI know what you mean. Being a dad was something I never even considered. But the second I held that baby for the first time I knew I could never give her up.ā€ George pauses, considering his next words carefully. ā€œSometimes I think about what life would be like, if Remiā€™s mom had come to me when she found out she was pregnant and we had the opportunity to be a family. But I donā€™t think I would have liked it that much.ā€
ā€œOh?ā€ The soft tone of Georgeā€™s voice is sending goosebumps all over her body. ā€œWhy is that?ā€
ā€œBecause then I never would have needed a nanny, and Remi and I wouldnā€™t have met you.ā€Ā
His words take all of the air out of Y/Nā€™s lungs, and her heart feels like it might beat out of her chest. Because sheā€™s had those thoughts too, and as selfish as it is Y/N has always come to the same conclusion as George. Remi will never know her biological mother, and part of Y/N aches for that little girl. But a larger part of her is thankful that Remi will never know the pain of her motherā€™s abandonment, and sheā€™s thankful that she gets to be the woman in her life.Ā
ā€œThanks for coming with us,ā€ George murmurs after a few moments of silence, causing Y/N to finally look up at him. He has the dopiest grin on his face and it makes her heart race.Ā
ā€œThereā€™s no place Iā€™d rather be,ā€ Y/N responds, and the conviction in her voice lets George know sheā€™s being honest with him.Ā
George reaches out to tuck a stray piece of hair behind Y/Nā€™s ear, and he grins at the hitch in her breath. ā€œRemi likes spending so much time with you.ā€
ā€œJust Remi?ā€ she asks teasingly, digging her teeth into her bottom lip.Ā
ā€œNo,ā€ George murmurs honestly, reaching up to trace Y/Nā€™s jaw with his thumb. ā€œNot just Remi.ā€
-
Things finally come to a head a few days later, and they have to decide whether to end this arrangement all together or finally cross that line.Ā
-
ā€œY/N? Remi?ā€
Y/N grins as Georgeā€™s voice echoes through the house as the front door clicks shut behind him. ā€œLiving room!ā€ she calls back.Ā
As soon as George comes into view Remi starts babbling, her tiny fists reaching out towards George. ā€œDada, dada, dada!ā€
Theyā€™re sitting on the floor, with Y/Nā€™s back against the sofa as Remi sits in her lap so they can read a book. But as George comes closer Y/N tosses the book aside, focusing on the man approaching her. Ever since the picnic in the park theyā€™re subtle glances have become more obvious, and she doesnā€™t shy away from checking George out.Ā
Because damn that man knows how to wear a suit.Ā
ā€œHey Rem-Dog,ā€ George greets, taking a seat on the floor across from Y/N. He opens his arms as Y/N lets Remi go, waiting for her to crawl closer before he swoops in. Picking Remi up under her armpits George hoists her in the air, blowing raspberries against her belly to make her laugh.Ā
Y/N waits for George to return the giggling baby to his lap before she acknowledges him. ā€œHi. How was work?ā€
George shrugs, giving her a smile. ā€œIt was okay. Couldnā€™t wait to get home though.ā€
The intensity in his gaze makes Y/N blush, and she clears her throat as she looks away. ā€œWell itā€™s a good thing youā€™re here now,ā€ she manages to squeak out once sheā€™s calmed down.Ā
Things have felt so intense between them lately, but Y/N is waiting for George to make the first move. While sheā€™s absolutely sure he feels the same way as she does, she doesnā€™t want to risk it by being the first one to make a move. Because on the off chance she goes for it and George rejects her, not only will Y/N be humiliated but sheā€™ll lose Remi and thatā€™s not something sheā€™s willing to risk.Ā
ā€œYeah, good thing.ā€ George leans down to kiss the top of Remiā€™s head. ā€œHow was she today? Any problems?ā€
Y/N chuckles at the notion of Remi being anything but a perfect angel. ā€œNope, she was perfect, as per usual. She tried broccoli for the first time and went down for her nap easily. And every time Iā€™d show her a picture of you sheā€™d reach for it shouting Dada.ā€
That makes Georgeā€™s heart melt. ā€œThatā€™s my smart girl,ā€ he coos.Ā
They both just watch for a minute as Remi squirms on Georgeā€™s lap, one of her hands fisted in his dress pants while the other smacks his knee. No one says anything, but the silence between them isnā€™t awkward at all.Ā
George suddenly takes a deep breath and just as heā€™s about to open his mouth to say something Remi cuts him off.Ā
ā€œMama, mama!ā€ she babbles for the first time, her little arms reaching out towards Y/N as she makes grabby hands. ā€œMama!ā€
Tears immediately spring to Y/Nā€™s eyes, and she stands up, turning away from George so he canā€™t see how affected she is. ā€œOh. Um. Iā€™ll be right back.ā€
George watches dumbfounded as Y/N disappears down the hall, presumably into his room. ā€œShit, shit shit,ā€ he murmurs, standing up to follow after her. He places Remi in her playpen, kissing her quickly on the forehead. ā€œHang on, baby. Dada has to go check on Mama.ā€
Y/Nā€™s door is closed when George reaches it, and he gives a tentative knock. ā€œY/N? Are you okay?ā€
ā€œIā€™m fine, George!ā€ She calls, but George can hear her sniffling.Ā
ā€œNo, youā€™re not.ā€ He pauses, grabbing the doorknob. ā€œIā€™m coming in.ā€
Sheā€™s sitting on the edge of her bed, furiously wiping away tears and George immediately takes two steps into the room before falling to his knees in front of her. ā€œBaby, whatā€™s wrong?ā€
ā€œNothing, nothing,ā€ she dismisses, shaking her head. ā€œI donā€™t even know why Iā€™m crying to be honest. It shouldnā€™t be a big deal, obviously Iā€™m not Remiā€™s mom-ā€
ā€œBut you wanna be,ā€ George murmurs, cutting her off.Ā
ā€œFuck, Iā€™m so sorry, George,ā€ Y/N apologizes. She wipes away the rest of the tears on her cheeks before she starts to push him away. ā€œLet me just pack my stuff and Iā€™ll be out of here, Iā€™m sorry.ā€
George grabs Y/Nā€™s wrists, keeping her hands pressed to his chest but keeping her from pushing him away. ā€œWhat the hell do you have to be sorry for, Y/N?ā€
ā€œIā€™m her nanny, George. Iā€™m just supposed to be looking after her while youā€™re at work or whatever. Iā€™m not supposed to be imagining a life where sheā€™s my child and weā€™re a family. I crossed a line and you should fire me.ā€
ā€œFuck that,ā€ George scoffs. ā€œLook at me, Y/N.ā€ He doesnā€™t continue until Y/N meets his gaze. ā€œIf anyone here crossed a line it was me. The second I saw you on my porch that morning I was fucked, I wanted you in every single way I could have you, Y/N. Hell, I asked you to move in under the guise that I needed more help with Remi when in reality I just wanted an excuse to be closer to you.ā€
Georgeā€™s confession shocks her, and a humorless chuckle leaves her lips. ā€œReally?ā€
ā€œReally,ā€ George confirms. ā€œSo if I should fire you for what you did, then you should quit for what I did. And if you really want to leave I will walk away right now. Iā€™ll head back into the living room and sit with Remi while you pack and Iā€™ll let you walk out the front door.ā€
ā€œAnd if I donā€™t want to leave?ā€ Y/N immediately asks.Ā
ā€œThen Iā€™m going to kiss you, and once I've conveyed to you how much you truly mean to me, weā€™ll go back out to the living room to spend time with our daughter. Because Y/N, you stopped being just the nanny weeks ago. And I think you know that.ā€ George gives her a pointed look. ā€œThe choice is yours.ā€
Her choice comes in the form of her hands fisting in Georgeā€™s shirt seconds before she pulls him into a kiss. Georgeā€™s arms immediately wrap around her waist, and he pulls Y/N off of the bed and into his lap, needing to get her as close as possible.Ā
ā€œDada! Mama!ā€
Remiā€™s shout breaks their kiss, but George keeps their foreheads pressed together as they chuckle. ā€œI guess weā€™ll have to wait until Remi goes to bed to cross other lines.ā€
Y/N shakes her head, playfully smacking George on the side of his head. He can be such an idiot. But at least heā€™s her idiot, and thatā€™s all that really matters.Ā

As strange as my town can sometimes be, it is still home. I'm used to it. Things happen a certain way. The rich and connected control everything. Parking is abundant, except for downtown, and in the same place it has been for decades. If I go next door, over to the Other Town, things get strange in a hurry.
For starters, their local sports team has a different name altogether. It's strange to hear people cheering on the Skyhawks instead of the Shih-Tzus. You have to be really careful if you're going into a sports bar, because the enthusiasts within can smell the odour of their ancient enemy on you, and will say rude things about your breeding and education when they think you can't hear them. And that's basically where the differences end.
A truly alien culture would feel brisk and invigorating, full of opportunities to learn and discover. They'd probably have different shit-box cars, too, so you could be really weird and annoy your fellow travellers about having seen a Vauxhall Hammerstein or a Honda Mercy. Not so in the Other Town, where things are basically the same as at home, but you don't get to sleep in your own bed at the end of the day and you have no idea which roads the cops actually run speed radar on. This unsettling feeling of "home, but not home" permeates every moment of your experience there.
Don't think that I'm some kind of play-it-safe nanny who decries the convenience of the highway system. I do encourage you to visit the Other Towns around you. Namely, their thrift stores. Make friends, and ask them where you can get cheap parts. Discover new places to eat and drink. Enjoy your visit, and take those lessons back home, where you will trade your newfound knowledge of the enemy for increased political and financial standing in the community. War is inevitable, and we know the Skyhawks are a foe to be feared.

SHE stepped down the stairs, a big grin covering her features while she interrupted the previous conversation. Her loud voice covering all sounds around, managing to catch their attention. ā€œAlright, the wait is over ā€” Now Iā€™m ready!ā€ Fran made her grand entrance, eyes going up to check the otherā€™s reaction as she showed off her newly bought dress. ā€œHow do I look?ā€

Today's wacky GO thought: I'm re-reading Maskerade at the moment, thoroughly enjoying the bits about Nanny Ogg's The Joye of Snacks in particular (the Ineffable Husbands and your metas have sensitised me to food-related innuendo :P Hehehe... Not that Nanny Ogg is very low-key about it! XD) -- the mention of Strawberry Wobbler* in particular, partly because the recipe exists IRL, in Nanny Ogg's Cookbook (published 2001, available here: https://www.discworldemporium.com/product/nanny-ogg-s-cookbook/) and partly because of the thought that Aziraphale has ABSOLUTELY made it more than once, on evenings when he wasn't feeling especially subtle >:D
I'd like to think that in-universe, while the Ineffables might not have directly thought up any given bit of the Discworld books, they nonetheless puttered over to Wiltshire occasionally to have a convivial tipple with Pterry and act as sounding boards :)
*A strawberry blancmange made in a cylindrical or conical mould -- along the lines of a large champagne flute -- and served with two scoops of strawberry ice cream
How on Earth had I almost forgotten about The Joye of Snacks! šŸ˜‚ I really should have put that into the post about Crowley's use of joy in 1941. The title of the Discworld book also being, as you probably already know, a parody of The Joy of Sex, the bestseller of the 1970s that is subtitled "A Gourmet Guide to Love-Making" and organized like a cookbook. It's a bit of a dated read now, as you might imagine, and there is an excess of Disco Tony mustaches throughout, but there's absolutely a copy in the bookshop. A cheesy sex book with section headers like 'starters' and 'main courses'? They own, like, four different editions. šŸ˜‚
Nanny Ogg is tied to that a bit-- within it is the word og, which is a Proto-Indo-European root word meaning fruit or berry. It all comes back to apples and "sin."
I like your thoughts on C&A and Pratchett co-existing! Very awww. šŸ˜Š I've no idea how that whole mindfuck might work since they put The Color of Magic in the series but it's enjoyable. I do have some other, somewhat-related thoughts about Gabriel's "neato fan" moment on deck as part of a response to another person's request so I'll message you when it's done. Would be interested to hear what you think if you've got a moment.
And, dammit, now after reading all this delicious food in your message, I'm so hungry... As in, literally, just for food-- I skipped lunch. šŸ˜‚

Hello and thank you for being a great source of fics! I read a super sweet outsider AU that included Crowley singing Abba songs and I need more! Are there any Abba themed fics you would recommend to us?
Hi! Here are some fics featuring ABBA songs/references, and a couple of Mamma Mia! fics...
The Stars Were Bright, My Dear Boy by not_joeys_secret_account (T)
Itā€™s 1977 and Aziraphale and Crowley go to see Star Wars in the theatre, and, surprisingly, Aziraphale has never heard of ABBA
And Everything Is You by acetonitril (T)
Once a week, Crowley joins the local pub's karaoke night to sing an ABBA song. Aziraphale doesn't know about this. This is the story of Aziraphale finding out. Also, there's a bunch of students who might or might not be involved.
How You Thrill Me by ingafterdark (E)
There were three things Crowley would remember about this movie. The deception-driven chaos, the blastedly delightful musical numbers, and the idle weight of Aziraphaleā€™s hand on Crowleyā€™s thigh, which grew ever-more insistent from about the half-hour mark. Or: The night in the South Downs when a certain Angel debauched a certain Demon asĀ Mamma Mia!Ā played in the background.
I Believe In Angels by Raphaela Crowley (T)
Crowley and Aziraphale travel to a Greek island under false pretenses. Aziraphale's a bit worried about the morality of the situation, while Crowley just wants that blasted ABBA song to not be stuck in his head any more. Sophie S. wonders if the father she's never known is Sam Carmichael or just some guy in sunglasses named Anthony Cowwley.
One Look And You're Hypnotized by quiltedspacemittens (T)
ā€œWhat are you doing in Greece?ā€ Aziraphale asks, with distanced politeness, as the silence between them stretches a moment too long. Crowley ambles, one step behind him. ā€œā€™M here on business. Supposed to tempt some poor woman to engineer a decades-long inheritance and property tax evasion scheme. Something about her ex-boyfriends.ā€ ā€œI see. And sheā€™s on Kalokairi?ā€ Kalokairi, Greece, 1977. One moustachioed demon on business, one clean-shaven principality on holiday, and one island in need of a little divine intervention. A Mamma Mia!-themed Tony fic written for Stayin' Julive aka Tony Month. Hypothetically updates every Wednesday in July. Title from "Angeleyes" by ABBA.
dancing queen (guaranteed to blow your mind) by Quilly (T)
Warlock has a secret, and it's that he invited three former staff members from his estranged parents' household to his wedding in the hopes that one of them is the one Nanny is still in love with. Crowley is just wondering what entity he pissed off to make three of his old flames show up the day before his adopted kid's wedding.
Do You Like ABBA? by Matcha_Tea_and_Other_Delights (T)
ā€œI heard thereā€™s going to be a meteor shower tonight.ā€ The boy tells Aunt Lilith. ā€œOh?ā€ She says in response, still a little unfamiliar with some of the earthly phrases and customs. ā€œYeah, stars falling from the sky and you get to make a wish, itā€™s great. Might stay up in my room watching them for a while.ā€ Aunt Lilith looks up at the sky too, this time with an odd sense of woe coloring her features. ā€œFalling stars, huh?ā€ Or: Seven years after the events of Not-mageddon, things start to gear up for the Second Coming: Supreme Archangel Raphael would sound the alarms, a flight is boarded, as a swarm of locusts envelope the Earth. Everything is destroyed, with nothing left standing. The End. ā€¦yeah thatā€™s not gonna happen. For starters, Satan is missing. Or or: Like the ones before them, itā€™s up to an angel and a demon to try and stop the world from ending. Third timeā€™s the charm isnā€™t it? (Basically, what if Good Omens 3 went like this?)

All That She Wants Chapter 7: Now What?
Series: All That She Wants
Fandom: The Royal Romance
Pairings for this chapter: Liam x Olivia
Word Count: 1,297 Rating: MA
Warnings for this chapter: faintest whiff of lemons
My other stuff: Master List.
Tumblr media
Chapter is under the cut.
"Damn, that was good.ā€ Olivia was still pinned against the shower wall, water cascading down her naked body as Liam pulsed inside her. Her nails raked across his shoulders. ā€œBut this isnā€™t what you summoned me to the palace for.ā€
ā€œNo, it isnā€™t. But it is a nice fringe benefit.ā€ He smirked as he pulled out of her and lowered her to the ground.
Olivia made a noncommittal noise as she turned the water off and stepped out of the walk-in shower. She grabbed two towels from the warmer and tossed one at Liam before drying herself off. Wrapping herself in the plush robe hanging on the back of the door, she turned to face her lover expectantly. ā€œAre you going to tell me, or do I have to guess?ā€
ā€œI thought we could discuss things over dinner. It should be here soon.ā€ He opened the door and exited the bathroom.
The bedroom in the suite that was always reserved for House Nevrakis contained a dresser stocked with menā€™s clothing in the kingā€™s size. He began dressing, humming happily to himself.
Olivia followed him. ā€œI would prefer if you just tell me whatever it is. Is it about the annual budget for Lythikos? Becauseā€”ā€
ā€œNo, no, nothing like that!ā€ He assured her as he pulled on a pair of pants. Noting her serious expression, he huffed out, ā€œFine. Iā€™ll tell you now.ā€
ā€œPlease do.ā€
ā€œRiley has given me two days to decide to either give her a baby or a divorce. I have a day left to decide.ā€
ā€œOkayā€¦ā€ Olivia said carefully. ā€œWhat does that have to do with me? If you want to keep your wife, give her a baby. If you donā€™t, then whatā€™s the problem?ā€
Liam gaped at her. How could she not see the obvious? ā€œIt has everything to do with you, with us! This is our chance to be together, Liv. For real this time! Iā€™ll give her the divorce and then you and I can get married. No more hiding, no more pretending!ā€
Oliviaā€™s face bore a mixture of horror, disbelief, and amusement. ā€œLiam, you know all the reasons I said no to your proposal the first time.ā€
ā€œBut this is different, Liv! I know you never wanted children, but Iā€™ve already had them! You wonā€™t have toā€”ā€
She drew back as he stepped toward her. ā€œYou expect me to be a stepmother?ā€
ā€œI have nannies, Liv. And they have a mother. Riley wonā€™t stop being their mom.ā€
Olivia shook her head vigorously back and forth. ā€œI hope you didnā€™t call me here to make some sort of proposal. If you want to divorce your wife, be my guest. But Iā€™m not replacing her.ā€
ā€œWhy not?ā€
Olivia snorted with exasperation. ā€œWeā€™ve been over this. Your world comes with too many strings and obligations, for starters.ā€
ā€œYou donā€™t want to be queen.ā€
ā€œNo. You know this.ā€
Liam sighed in frustration, but he wasnā€™t giving up. ā€œThere is a third option.ā€
ā€œWhat is it?ā€
ā€œLet someone else give her a baby.ā€
Oliviaā€™s eyebrows shot up. ā€œWould you even agree to that?ā€
ā€œIf I agree to it, we would go public with the Cordonian Arrangement. Thereā€™s no way around that. The mandatory paternity test would out us.ā€
Her eyebrows shot even higher. ā€œThat is not something I would expect you to do. Youā€™re too conscious of your public image, decorum, traditionā€”ā€
ā€œGenerally, yes, but there is an upside here.ā€
ā€œIā€™m listening.ā€
ā€œIf itā€™s public knowledge, then that frees me up to do what I want without the hiding and sneaking around. You and I can still be together publicly, Liv, even if you donā€™t want to marry me.ā€
She watched him warily. ā€œTogether how?ā€
ā€œI could make you the official royal mistress.ā€ He offered, his tone, facial expression, and body language implying that he believed this to be a boon.
She stifled a laugh. ā€œLiam, that title comes with almost as much baggage as being queen.ā€
It also would require her to remain faithful to the king, giving up all other lovers, something she was not prepared to do.
His face fell. The romantic dinner he had planned was going completely sidewise, and the food hadnā€™t even arrived yet.
Olivia tried to disarm the situation. ā€œIā€™m sure sheā€™s bluffing, anyway. Riley is in love with you, Liam. Sheā€™s not going to get pregnant by someone else.ā€
He laughed humorlessly. ā€œSheā€™s already sleeping with Drake.ā€
ā€œWith Drake?ā€ Olivia focused on him with an intensity he found a little uncomfortable. ā€œHe had a vasectomy. When he and I were an item. We both agreedā€”ā€
ā€œHe offered to reverse it for her.ā€
Olivia felt like the floor had fallen out from under her. ā€œHe what?ā€
Anger rose like the tide inside him as he clocked her reaction. ā€œHe offered to reverse it for her. Why are you so upset? Do you still have feelings for him?ā€
ā€œWhat? No!ā€ she scoffed, but her inability to look him directly in the eye told him everything he needed to know.
He tamped down his rage as best he could. He needed things clarified for him. ā€œSo, you wonā€™t marry me if I get divorced, and you wonā€™t be my official mistress if I donā€™t. Do you actually want any type of relationship with me at all, or have I been wasting my time all these years?ā€
She threw her hands up in the air as she stalked away from him. ā€œDonā€™t be so fucking dramatic. I have always been crystal clear that our relationship is purely sexual. You know I have other lovers and I like it that way. I need my space and freedom, Liam. I donā€™t want to be tied down to any one person.ā€
ā€œUnless itā€™s Drake, you mean.ā€
ā€œOh, for the love of God, stop it. I am not in love with Drake.ā€
Liam felt like heā€™d just been slapped. ā€œWho said anything about love? I didnā€™t use that word, you did!ā€
ā€œStop trying to make this about me! This is about you and Riley! Why do you need my input to make this decision?ā€
ā€œBecause I love you and I thought you loved me back!ā€ White hot fury mingled with wretched despair.
He had convinced himself they were star-crossed lovers, kept apart by circumstance. He had believed that if the universe aligned so that they could be together, then they would be together.
He had been willing to throw his reputation to the wind for her. Willing to disregard public opinion and be the first monarch in Cordonian history to get a divorce. He had frozen out his wife, the woman that did love him, for a lie. A lie heā€™d told himself.
Olivia Nevrakis had just ripped his heart out for the second time in their lives.
ā€œIā€™m sorry, Liam. Maybe you should go.ā€
He gathered his things and left without another word. The walk back to the royal wing felt like a million miles as he contemplated the fact that Olivia was still in love with Drake.
He hated him for it.
He knew it wasnā€™t fair. Drake didnā€™t seem to return Oliviaā€™s feelings, nor did he seem to be encouraging or leading her on in any way.
Still.
It rankled that the only reason the woman he loved didnā€™t love him back was because Drake Walker existed.
Exacting any type of revenge seemed pointless. Drake hadnā€™t done it on purpose. He had, in fact, backed all the way off when Liam had asked him to.
Olivia wasnā€™t aware of it, but Liam was the reason Drake had broken things off with her.
That fact didn't make him feel any better about the situation.
An emotion he wasn't proud of stirred in his chest.
If Liam couldnā€™t have the woman he wanted, why should Drake get the one he wanted?
Maybe it was time to reconnect with his wife.

The many occupations of fic Louis de Pointe du Lac
Iā€™ve been reading a lot of fic to get me through the long wait to season 2, and Iā€™ve been delighted by the sheer diversity of professional occupations writers have imagined for Louis. Hereā€™s a list off the top of my head of ones Iā€™ve read and enjoyed, though please do tell me in the comments if Iā€™ve missed any!
Spa owner and massage therapist in "You're the one, designed for me"
Fashion photographer in "Let the flesh instruct the mind"
Coffee shop owner in ā€œItā€™s like a sucker punch straight to my heartā€ by @thefairylights
Chef in "Saveur de la Maison" by @suikamelon6

Whereas Lestat is nearly always musician/rockstar/music producer (which makes sense since that's canon). Though I must give a special mention to his porn star career in "Pretty Boy" šŸ‘€
EDIT: I went and made a fic occupation post for Lestat now, too!
Apologies if Iā€™ve mis-tagged or forgotten to tag any authors here, Iā€™ve tried to match them up from AO3 references where possible!
