for my first #retrOCtober, I'm revisiting Mona, the protagonist of my (old; completed!) webcomic The Muse Mentor (www.themusementor.com)

it's amazing that I can draw her still without reference after 6 years.... comics, man!! I'm gonna draw up more of the cast this month, too 🦋

it's a common artistic insecurity for people to be like, "You're just saying you like it because I made it, if you just saw this online it wouldn't impress you!".....

......But that's the point... people DO like your art because you made it... I like my mom's art because she made it and I love her... When a kid draws a picture of me I like it immensely because it's really exciting to be seen and depicted even when it's a small child...

If someone shows ME a piece of art they made because they wanted ME to see it then obviously I will like it more than if I just saw it on instagram + it's more beautiful and interesting to look at, To Me

redefine "good artist" in your head to "someone who makes others happy with their art" and you'll find that the world is full of far, far more good artists than you previously imagined

Actually you know what. Given that Grossberg in 1-4 says Robert Hammond used to work for him back in the day but never explains where he went afterwards (before being murdered at least). There’s a very real possibility that Kristoph used to study under him and that explains why he’s Like That

I think my toxic trait is that in order for me to like a character, I have to give them something that I can’t defend. They need to behave badly and if that happened to me, I would never forgive them… one day, all the mentors will have an unforgivable sin in my book and I will live in joy and happiness ☺️

hmmm thinking intensely abt alternate timeline things. what if someone else took on bran as an apprentice as a younger kid? what if maude didn’t make a contract with feld and someone else made a contract with it instead? what if nettie stumbled into someone else instead of maude when she ran away from home? what if someone succeeded in killing feld without realizing that would kill maude too?

Hi! I was struck by a wave of nostalgia and went to reread The Muse Mentor, but it looks like the website is partially broken. The Archive doesn't work anymore, and it looks like the images for a lot of the pages are missing. If this isn't just a problem with the browser on my end (it wouldn't be the first time), is there somewhere where we can still read the whole comic? Thank you! <3

I am so happy you wanted to reread, and unfortunately it isn't just your browser, the site currently has some issues. I am hoping to correct this soon as I don't want to lose the comment archive, but I have been considering getting the pages uploaded somewhere else in the meantime if that doesn't wind up possible. I will def update if I implement either a hosting solution or get the site repaired, sorry about that!
