Dean, to Anna (4x10): Feelings are overrated, if you ask me.
Dean, to Sam (4x10), crying: How I feel... This... inside me... I wish I couldn't feel anything, Sammy. I wish I couldn't feel a damn thing.
Cas, to Dean (4x22): What is so worth saving? I see nothing but pain here. I see inside you. I see your guilt, your anger, confusion.
"Emmanuel", to Dean (7x17): Well, it doesn't matter why. (…) No. You're not a machine, Dean. You're human.
Cas, to Claire (10x10): Angels are able to find those who pray to them. (…) It doesn't have to be a formal prayer. I could pick up on a– a longing…
Cas, to Jack (15x13): You know, Dean, he– he feels things more acutely than any human I've ever known.
Cas, to Dean (15x18): Everything you have ever done, the good and the bad, you have done for love. You raised your little brother for love. You fought for this whole world for love. That is who you are. You're the most caring man on Earth. You are the most selfless, loving human being I will ever know.

the nature of being a johnny lawrence fan, is that it is often indistinguishable from being a johnny lawrence hater, and I don't think I have that with any other character. usually I'm very protective of my faves (including in cobra kai, daniel, sam, kreese, and tsilver), but johnny, I very much enjoy reading all the reasons people dislike his character, nodding along like "yeah what an inconsistent mess, you're so right, carmen pls u deserve better narrative to work with, terry silver was telling the truth when he mocked his fatherhood abilities, but alas the writing will never support it"
#johnny lawrence fans 🤝 johnny lawrence haters -- wtf is going on with johnny lawrence's character in s5????????#johnny lawrence#cobra kai#ck#i can write miles of text about the queercoding of johnny lawrence#and also about how terribly inconsistent the writing for him is due to a sexist notion that he must be a Badass#actually i think johnny lawrence is one of the most interesting case studies of this phenomenon#obvs most famously archetyped by dean winchester -- but i think jlaw is even More That#1. literal 80s character so all these people read him through a particular nostalgia lens#2. in a show that is possibly Thee most trope-filled nostalgia show i have ever seen be that way Accidentally#(riverdale was doing it on purpose -- stranger things... yeah maybe but i think cobra kai is even more on the nose actually)#3. played by quite a sensitive actor actually who deeply cares about the nuance of the character#which appears to be at constant war with the intentions of the narrative he has to appear in#4. and like. the writers Know about the queercoding because they've interacted with fans (nicely actually)#but they have literally no idea what to do with it but ALSO have lampshaded it occasionally#it's... it's fascinating....#they want so badly for him to win but they're going about it the wrong way -- the narrative continues to be circular/an inward spiral#nothing has changed except for the reactions of other characters#jlaw must remain static because of our nostalgia but also be important to the story somehow#the Tension of it all is personally delicious to me but man is it frustrating as well

Looking at this scene and thinking: yeah Dean and Cas were good platonic buddies is pretty insane. Because this isn't a friend grieving his friend. This is a husband grieving his spouse...

I’m getting back into WWE completely by accident and I genuinely hate how attractive I find Dominik Mysterio
#i Know he’s playing a character but he’s SO douchey. and yet. i want to bite his face#okay honestly the story of me as a wwe enjoyer is i used to pay for sky sports in like 2015-16 because i loved tennis so much#it got too expensive to justify but before that happened; i randomly happened to watch wwe raw late at night. and i was absolutely hooked#mind you i think this was around the time the shield broke up; so my literal intro to wwe was seth rollins running around like a gremlin#curbstomping people through the money in the bank briefcase and doing a shiteating grin while dean ambrose screamed at him#so obviously i loved that#and now everything is on netflix so i’m catching up on shit in kind of an unhinged way. by which i mean to say i am going backwards#i need you to understand the whiplash i experienced when i found out cody rhodes is the face of the wwe right now… the last time i saw him#he was STARDUST. i was like what do you mean a B-list heel from 10 years ago is now the world champion. WHAT HAPPENED#i’m not gonna lie to you in the slightest. most of my favouritism of certain wrestlers comes from how hot i find them#i don’t know anything about technical skills and i deliberately don’t look up their personal lives because i don’t want to know#i think dominik and cody are both cute as hell. i used to have a giant crush on seth rollins but the man has aged like milk unforch#obviously i’m in love with rhea ripley. genuinely though is anyone in the women’s division not the most beautiful woman alive#the only one i like strictly for technicality is randy orton. he’s not my type at all but he’s so smooth with the rko. i’m obsessed with it#i need to gather further intel. i’m not even gonna lie i have mostly been watching royal rumbles#the time between superstars entering the ring is really useful to help me time how long my nails have been soaking in oil and how long since#my last coat of nail polish. and i DON’T care if that sounds shallow#personal

It's my belief that the SPN verse is better off without Randy and the others, but the thing is Dean wasn't in control anymore.
Sam: Tell me you had to do this. Dean: I didn't … I didn't mean to.
Not being in control and hurting/killing people is ultimately his nightmare. It's his version of Hell.
And Alastair... at the end of every day... every one... he would come over. And he would make me an offer. To take me off the rack... if I put souls on... if I started the torturing. And every day, I told him to stick it where the sun shines. For 30 years, I told him. But then I couldn't do it anymore, Sammy. I couldn't. And I got off that rack. God help me, I got right off it, and I started ripping them apart. I lost count of how many souls. The– the things that I did to them. (...) How I feel... This... inside me... I wish I couldn't feel anything, Sammy. I wish I couldn't feel a damn thing.
–Dean, spn 4x10
That's how Tessa convinces him to follow her in 2x01:
Dean: I'm not going with you, I don't care what you do. Tessa: Well, like you said. There's always a choice. I can't make you come with me. But you're not getting back in your body. And that's just facts. So yes, you can stay. You'll stay here for years. Disembodied, scared, and over the decades it'll probably drive you mad. Maybe you'll even get violent. Dean: What are you saying? Tessa: Dean. How do you think angry spirits are born? They can't let go and they can't move on. And you're about to become one. The same thing you hunt.
It's also his talk with Cas in 10x09:
Dean: Cas, I need you to promise me something. Cas: Of course. Dean: If I do go dark side, you got to take me out. Cas: What do you mean? Dean: Knife me. Smite me. Throw me into the freakin’ sun, whatever. And don’t let Sam get in the way, because he’ll try. I can’t go down that road again, man. I can’t be that thing again.
The MOC/Demon arcs are playing on his belief he's a monster and dangerous to everyone around him. It reduces him to being a killer.
Dean: You're covered in blood until you're covered in your own blood. Half the time, you're about to die. Like right now. I told myself I wanted out… that I wanted a family. Veritas: But you were lying. Dean: No. But what I'm good at… is slicing throats. I ain't a father. I'm a killer. And there's no changing that. I know that now.
–spn 6x06
Cain: I can give you the mark, Dean, if it's what you truly want. Dean: What are you talking about? Cain: The mark can be transferred to someone who's worthy. Dean: You mean a killer like you? Cain: Yes.
–spn 9x11
Dean: I took down a monster. Because that's what I do. And I'll continue to do that until… Castiel: Until you become the monster. Dean: You can leave now, Cas.
–spn 10x22
Dean, in his right mind, keeps the monster (hurting people) locked.
Dean: Well, tell Uriel, or whoever…you do not want me doing this, trust me. Castiel: Want it, no. But I have been told we need it. Dean: You ask me to open that door and walk through it, you will not like what walks back out.
–spn 4x16
Michael: You fellas didn't think this out, did you? Even if you could force me out, what do you think I'd leave behind, hm? You'd be nothing but blood and bone. Dean: Then we don't kick him out. We keep him in. Michael: *screaming and banging on the door* Dean: It'll hold. My mind, my rules. I got him. I'm the Cage.
–spn 14x10
Dean: It's a Ma'lak box. Secured and warded. Once inside… nothing gets out, not even an archangel. Especially an archangel. (...) Sam: That's your plan? You want to be buried alive? Dean: Buried's not safe enough. Plan is, pay a little hush money, charter a boat to take me out to the Pacific. Splash. Sam: You and Michael, trapped together – for eternity? Dean: Yeah. Sam: You do realise how insane this is, right? Dean: It's the only sane play I've got. Michael gets out, that's it for this world. And he will get out. Sam: Well, how do you know that for sure? Dean: Because I do. Because I can feel him in my head. That door is giving. I can feel it giving.
–spn 14x11
That's why both Death and Billie easily convince him to follow their plan. There's nothing more important for him than protecting people—especially not his own life/comfort.
Death: So I could remove the Mark, but only if you will share it with another… to ensure that the lock remains unbroken and the Darkness remains banned. Dean: I'm not doing that… not to anyone. Death: What if I told you I could relocate you somewhere far away, not even on this earth, where you would still be alive, but no longer a danger to yourself or to others?
–spn 10x23
Billie: Well, it's the funniest thing, but they've all been rewritten. They all end the same way now – with the archangel Michael escaping your mind and using you as his vessel to burn down this world. Dean: All of them? Billie: All of them. Except one.
–spn 14x10

Part 1 of "Promises Kept" (Title in workshop)
Noble Man Castiel Novak and the scrappy farm hand in town, Dean Winchester Slow burn romance where they meet when they were young. the Winchesters owned large amounts of land and prospered while the Novak's had very little and worked small jobs in town Dean promises Castiel that when they grow older, Dean would own the land he has and would spoil Castiel. That he would build Cas a mansion and make sure he never grows hungry. That he would use the money to help other people too, with Castiel by his side managing the numbers Dean could never get the hang of Castiel promising that he'd do anything to make Dean's dream come true. To help his best friend and always be by his side. That he'd put Dean's needs above his own if it meant Dean would prosper Neither of them anticipated the Winchester Property to burn down through a freak fire accident Neither of them could predict the Novak's striking gold, marrying rich, and becoming Noble Men through Castiel's father's connections Dean had to pick up the pieces of his life at a young age. Grieving his mother, taking care of his baby brother, and helping his father work the field to salvage what they could Castiel was forced to move to a different city to further his education. His father forcing his children into a higher education, in hopes to continue upholding their new Noble position, afraid to go back to the life they used to live And as years went on and the two grew apart, fate brings them together again Dean having built his life back slowly, his father selling most of the land and taking odd jobs out of the town. Dean having to be a father to his baby brother, working Bobby Singer's farm and ranch to scrape by Castiel having gardened praise and attention for his higher education. His studies and work on scriptures and translations have given him enough freedom to travel away from home, back to Lawrence Back to Dean, to fulfill his promise to give the man his dreams He didn't expect Dean to uphold his promise too --------- Eeehhh rough idea. Lemme know whatcha think

Can I request cute Dean fluff of him realising he’s in love with you when you take care or save Sam from something bc we all know that man would know he’s found the one when she cares just as much for Sam as he does

pairing. dean winchester x reader

Tumblr media
You’re kneeling next to Sam, your hands moving quickly as you press a clean rag against the gash on his arm. The hunt had gone sideways—too many moving parts, too many variables—but you’d managed to keep it from going completely off the rails. Now, the three of you are holed up in a shabby motel room, the faint smell of antiseptic mixing with the metallic tang of blood.
Dean stands a few feet away, his hands gripping the back of a chair, watching as you work. He should be helping, should be doing something, but all he can do is stare. There’s a look of determination on your face, tempered by the kind of gentle care that makes his chest ache.
“Hold still, Sam,” you murmur, your voice soft but firm. “I know it hurts, but this needs to be cleaned.”
Sam winces but doesn’t argue. “I’m fine. It’s not that bad.”
You glance up at him, arching an eyebrow. “Oh, really? Because you’re bleeding all over my jeans.”
Sam chuckles weakly, the sound turning into a hiss of pain as you dab at the wound. “Okay, maybe it’s a little bad.”
Dean’s lips twitch at the corners, but he doesn’t say anything. He’s too busy trying to process the strange, overwhelming warmth blooming in his chest. It’s not like he hasn’t seen you take care of someone before—you’ve patched him up more times than he can count—but this feels different. Watching you with Sam, seeing the way you’re willing to get your hands dirty to keep his brother safe... it does something to him.
“You’re gonna need stitches,” you say, your tone matter-of-fact as you reach for the first aid kit. “Dean, can you grab me the thread and needle?”
He snaps out of his daze, nodding quickly. “Yeah, yeah. Got it.” He rummages through the kit, pulling out the supplies and handing them to you. His fingers brush yours, and for a second, he forgets how to breathe.
You don’t notice—or maybe you do, but you don’t say anything. Instead, you focus on threading the needle, your hands steady despite the tension in the room. “This is gonna sting,” you warn Sam, your voice gentle.
“Just do it,” Sam mutters, bracing himself.
Dean watches as you work, your movements precise but careful. You talk to Sam the whole time, distracting him with small jokes and reassurances, and Dean can see the way his brother relaxes under your touch. It’s like you’ve got this magic about you, this ability to make even the worst situations feel manageable.
When you finally finish, tying off the last stitch, you sit back on your heels and let out a sigh. “There. You’re all patched up. Try not to rip it open again, okay?”
Sam gives you a small smile. “Thanks. You didn’t have to do all that.”
You roll your eyes. “Of course I did. What kind of person would I be if I let you bleed out in a crappy motel room?”
Dean’s heart stumbles in his chest. He can’t remember the last time someone cared about Sam like that—someone who wasn’t him. And it’s not just the act of taking care of him; it’s the way you do it like it’s the most natural thing in the world. Like Sam’s life is just as important to you as it is to him.
You stand up, brushing off your hands, and glance at Dean. “He’ll be fine, but he needs rest. And food. I’m guessing you haven’t eaten since this morning?”
Dean blinks, caught off guard. “Uh... no. Not really.”
You sigh, shaking your head. “Alright, I’ll order something. You two sit tight.”
As you step into the adjoining room to make the call, Dean looks over at Sam. His brother’s eyes are already closing, exhaustion pulling him under, but there’s a faint smile on his face.
When you come back, carrying your phone and rattling off a list of takeout options, Dean feels it hit him like a freight train. This is it. This is love. It’s not just about how he feels when you’re around—it’s about how you make everything better. How you make him better. How you’d do anything for Sam, the way he would.
You catch him staring and raise an eyebrow. “What?”
Dean shakes his head, a slow, disbelieving smile spreading across his face. “Nothing,” he says, his voice warm. “Just... thanks. For everything.”
Your expression softens, and you give him a small smile in return. “Always.”
Dean watches you for a moment longer, the realization settling deep in his bones. He’s in love with you. And if he’s honest, he doesn’t think he ever stood a chance.

What I wanted so badly was for Mary to learn about her boys from Cas. Like that night where Cas finds her when she can’t sleep and she expresses that she just doesn’t know anything about her sons since she missed so much?? All I wanted was for Cas to sit down with her at the table and just start telling her about them. Basic stuff at first: their favorite foods, their sleeping habits, the stuff he’s just observed by being their passenger for years.
And then I want him to say something totally Cas, like “Dean always wears more layers but that’s because his body naturally runs two degrees colder than Sam’s. But that’s normal for him and not indicative of any illness, so it’s nothing to worry about.”
And as they talk, it starts to get a little deeper, and Cas tells her more. He tells her about what she missed, about all the horrible things that happened to her sons and how they coped; how it changed them. And he tells her about Sam, he does, but really it ends up being all about Dean.
He’ll tell her about how Dean clenches his fists when he’s upset, even as he tries to keep his face impassive. About how Dean drums his fingers on the steering wheel when he’s anxious. He’ll tell her about Dean’s nightmares, about the ways he’s chosen to cope. He’ll tell her how to know when to approach Dean and when to give him space, how to gently acknowledge what he’s feeling without pushing him too far.
And with every word he says, Mary’s curious head tilt from when she’d seen them hug in reunion turns into a bone deep type of certainty. Because Cas is telling her things that only someone who paid special attention would notice. He’s telling her things that only someone very, very close to her son’s heart would know.
Cas will tell her the cliff notes of what they’ve been through; will tell her how the whole world looked to Dean and he rose to the occasion over and over again. He’ll tell her about Dean’s doubts in himself and then vehemently declare them as wrong and explain, at length, why. He will tell her about the people Dean has loved— the people who loved him like he was their own— and lost. He will tell her about Bobby, Ellen, Jody, Donna, and Charlie. He’ll tell her about Claire, too, and how Dean stepped up.
And the whole time, Mary will have this realization that oh, she may not have been around to guide and protect her sons, but there was always someone there to care for them and support them when they needed it. She will realize that she and John may have left them, but they were never alone.
But more than that, there was someone there for Dean. Someone picking Dean over and over again while Dean picked Sam, or the world, over himself. There was someone fighting for Dean when he wasn’t fighting for himself. There was someone who saw Dean, and loved him unconditionally.
Sitting across from her, at the asscrack of dawn, filling her in on all the things she missed was every mother’s dream: someone who loved her child with the kind of devotion that would break the world. And from the sounds of the stories she was being told, it did break the world. Someone whose love is entirely untainted and comes without any strings attached.
It’s so clear to her as she listens to Cas talk that Cas loves Dean with no expectations. That loving Dean is something he just does, like he doesn’t know how not to love Dean, like the possibility of not loving him never occurred to Cas. He loves Dean in a way that Mary knows can and will soothe Dean’s sharp edges and battered heart. He loves Dean in the kind of pure way that tells Mary that it will continue to endure and overcome everything without ever diminishing, even the littlest amount.
Mary, through tears, will tell Cas how she always told Dean that there were angels watching over him. And before Cas can make some comment about Dean being the Righteous Man and the interest of most of Heaven, she will place a hand over his and give him a motherly look that will convey all the things she’s not sure how to say— and the things she’s not sure Cas is ready to hear yet. And Cas will flush and look away, mumbling about how her son is very special to him.
And when she pulls him into a hug and murmurs thank yous into his shoulder, she will be comforted in the knowledge that her sons turned out to be wonderful men, and that they managed to stay together through everything. She will be comforted to know that no matter what happens, no matter her shortcomings as she tries to fill a role she never meant to leave, Sam will have Dean and Dean will have Cas.
And this time, when Cas tells her that she belongs here, she will believe him. And she will tell him that he belongs here, too.
And when Dean wakes up a few hours later and wanders in to find Mary and Cas still chatting over the table, he’ll be surprised— but pleased— to find Mary looking more at ease. He’ll be pleased when she gives him a warm hug and pats him on the cheek and tell him with all the sincerity that only a mother can muster that she’s glad that he met Castiel. And when Dean agrees, a little confused, Mary will just smile at him.
“I always said I’d like a third son.” She says, “so give him a reason to take our last name, won’t you?”
And Dean will splutter and turn fifteen shades of red as he steadfastly doesn’t look at Cas but mumbles something that suggests he’s not against the idea at all.
And Mary will laugh again and wink at an equally red Cas before heading towards the kitchen like “Cas said waffles are your favorite, so I hope you’re hungry!”
